(Same anon as before)
Haha, sorry for making you think of Tangle's and Whisper's apology😅 But I must say, that is also something I had in mind when I wrote that I didn't expect the other characters to give Silver the apology he likely deserves if they go the route of the others ragging on him first. So far, I do not think that route is entirely proven with the solicit only stating "Awkwardness ensures.", but... Meh, I truly just have a bad feeling about it, not helped by the whole bit of the hasty accusations and what happened in Archie beforehand. I would not be surprised if 'Silver acts like an idiot and the others are snapping at him for getting in the way and being distrusting of this Cool New Diamond Cutter' were to happen, let's put it that way.
Honestly, with "I hate when the story is about characters making a fool of themselves" you hit the nail on the head: we know it is going to be incredibly cringe and awkward and uncomfortable! The solicits of both issue 63 and 64 state as much! ("But he's too busy being star-struck over Whisper to notice that he's interrupting their training!" and ".... he jumps to a conclusion that leads him to some hasty accusations. Awkwardness ensures." as prime examples.) And it might just be a complete disservice to Silver's character, both personality- and power-wise (you are NOT going to tell me Silver's PK is less powerful and skilled than Whisper's Wispon usage. Meteor Smash, anyone? Stopping the Eclipse Canon beam in that Sonic Channel story?), on top. Hopefully the plot line of Sonic and Blaze will indeed be something better handled than what the Silver and Diamond Cutters plotline is shaping up to be.
The thing is that "Character spends the entire runtime pointing out that Something is Wrong, gets arbitrarily brushed off, they are eventually proven right" is just... such a cliché plot. I'm pretty sure it's a stock episode in every Western cartoon. At least one can argue that the Whispangle Drama was supposed to teach a lesson about trauma and how to handle it (even if it was utter shit at it), but this is just a time waster - we know that the new guy is Mimic, it's so obvious from the cover, what's the point of going through this song and dance? Unless there's some Big Twist about it... and uhhh don't trust IDW with twists anymore...
Also yeah, you know what? Why is Silver even a Whisper fanboy? Whisper may be cool as a sniper, but Silver is by far one of the most OP people in the Sonicverse. This is not like him being amazed by the desert because it's still better than the future he grew up in, so he clearly has different standards of what counts as impressive, it's just... she uses Wisps, big deal, he can fucking stop a meteor thrown at him by a demigod.
In fact, I'll say that in general, the way Silver was used to introduce Whisper is... not very good. Compare this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tangle's introduction, where she displays her combat prowess and immediately befriends Sonic, showing her attitude and dorkiness in a natural way...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... and Whisper's, where before we actually see her in action, we get told by a canon character about how Amazing and Cool she is (let alone that said canon character is warped OOC), because she saved his life, yeah the random sniper is so fucking awesome man, trust me! Funnily enough, the first time we see her, she's just struggling to open a door, lmao.
(also i just realized that calling whisper "guardian angel", something she was never referred to since then, implies that they're all christian)
(and sonic is being a dick. in other news, water is wet)
Basically, it's amateur fanfiction-tier writing, which is odd because Flynn nailed it with Tangle.
Sorry for the tangent 😅 I guess I'm trying to say that Silver's writing in IDW has always been severely flawed and this plotline just sounds like it's going to be very annoying, unless you love uwu Cute Dork Round-Eyed Silver-kun. Which is most of his modern fans, from what I gather.

Going Under Part One
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: 13th Doctor x Reader
Summary: An accident during a routine adventure made your life spiraled out of control with only the Doctor as the anchor. Will you ever find your way back to your Doctor again?
Trigger Warning: ooc, angst, plot holes as usual, attempted suicide, dark!doctor, death, insanity, etc. You have been warned.
More warning: English is not my first language so beware of the headache you will receive upon reading this.
A/N: Ok, this is going to be a very disastrous story and to tell the truth, I have no idea how to wrap it up in a pretty bow. For this particular story, I put the song Going Under by Evanescence on a loop to get in the mood hence the title. As usual, this story probably filled with lot of plot holes, but that is to be expected in my fanfiction. I'm very afraid to post this actually. It would be very me to ended up writing a bad fanfiction that no one care to read. I have finished part two, actually, but I will post it on queue. Ugh, I'm throwing myself into the usual circle of hell of wondering whether writing this worth it or whether this is trash. Wish me luck, guys!
  Part Two is here
I fell to the ground after I was shot by that light beam. I thought I was a goner. From the concerned sounds of the Doctor and the fam, they thought the same.
It was our usual routine adventure that almost always followed by a crisis that only the Doctor can solved. This time, the crisis involved human experiments. The Doctor is righteously pissed at the perpetrators. And one of the scientists shot at the Doctor using his experimental weapon and I pushed her out of the way.
The Doctor and the fam fussed over me.
I felt pain and then nothing. I think I lose my consciousness for a bit. I woke up to the sound of sonic screwdriver insistently scanning me. I forced myself to open my eyes and saw the relieved faces of the Doctor and the fam. I groaned. "What happened?"
The Doctor and the fam shared a chuckle at my respond.
"Don't ever do that again." The Doctor said with a firm tone.
Seeing her serious expression, I sighed. Eventhough she would have done the same as me if she was in my position, the time lady doth protest too much, methinks. But I'm not in the mood to argue, so I replied, "I won't."
The Doctor gazed at me with indecipherable expression. "We should go back to the Tardis. I have to scan you some more. I don't know what that weapon is, seem to malfunction, you are very lucky, (name). But just in case, I need to do more test on you."
 "Whatever you want, doc."
"How are you feeling?" Yaz asked me as she helped me up.
"Like I was electrocuted? But...now I feel kind of okay." I said.
"You scared all of us." Ryan said.
"Sorry. But I'm fine, see?" I decided to do a dramatic spinning and I regretted it when I lost my balance.
The Doctor catches me before I fall. "Not so fine after all..." she murmured. She is surprisingly very strong.
"Okay, I might need a rest." I admitted.
The Doctor made Yaz and Ryan led me back to the Tardis as she had to deal with the scientists.
 7777
Yaz and Ryan took me to my room back inside the Tardis. I thanks them for their help before hugging one of my stuffed animals pillow on the bed and blissfully fell into a deep sleep.
I woke maybe a few hours later. The room is cold. I felt so uncomfortable as I forced myself to open my eyes. I was surprised to find myself on the floor in a very dark room. I reach around my pant for my smartphone and turned on the flashlight. I found the door and got out. I could hear the voices of the Doctor and the fam in the console room so I went over there.
"Guys, how did I ended up on the floor in some random room?" I asked loudly.
The Doctor and the fam froze as they saw me.
The Doctor quickly approached me and demanded in a very scary tone, "Who are you? How did you get on board of my Tardis?"
I was confused. "What do you mean?"
"We are inside the time vortex. How did you get here? And when did you even get in?"
I stared at her in confusion. "Doctor, what are you talking about?"
"Y-you know who I am?" The Doctor asked. She look at me in skeptical.
"Of course I do. Duh. We have been travelling together for a while." I said. "Ryan, is this one of your prank? Did you get her to play along?"
Ryan look very confused. "Err, you know me?"
"Ok, this is not funny, guys." I complained. "I'm so tired after our latest adventures. I mean, I did get shot. I'm really not in the mood for whatever prank this is."
The Doctor and the fam exchanged a look at each other.
They were making me nervous now.
"We don't know who you are." It was Yaz who replied.
"That's not funny, Yaz." I said. "Just stop it, guys."
"How did you know my fam? Who are you?" The Doctor demanded as she grabbed my wrist in warning.
"Doctor, you are hurting me. What is wrong with you?" I yelled angrily as I tried to pull my wrist free of her strong grip.
"Err, doc, I think we all need to calm down some." Graham said.
 The Doctor released me grudgingly.
I massaged my wrist. "Had I known you would act this way, I would let that scientist shot you."
 "What scientist?" The Doctor asked.
"You said you were shot? Where are you injured?" Yaz asked.
I sighed. "Are we still playing this? You are all there when he shot at the Doctor and I pushes her out of the way." I glared at the Doctor. "Don't worry, doc, I won't shield you again next time." I said sarcastically.
The Doctor pulled her sonic screwdriver and scanned me. "Human."
"Of course, I am human! Guys, I'm so..." I trailed as I finally take a good long look at them and realized they really have no idea who I am. "You really have no idea who I am?"
 The fam nodded in unison.
I could feel myself start to panic. "Oh God, is this the side effect of that shot? Did it makes you guys forgot all about me? I mean it was experimental weapon. And, doc, you promised to do a scan on me in the Tardis to see if there is any other...damages..."
"I don't know who you are and what your plan is but if you are planning to..."
"I'm not! I am not the enemy, okay! Just chill!" I yelled at her when I noticed she is about to give me her oncoming storm rants. I quickly pulled my smartphone.
The Doctor raised her sonic screwdriver at me warningly.
"I have proof, okay?" I placated. I went through my phone and to the gallery. I showed them our many selfie group pictures. "Here."
The Doctor grabbed my phone and took a few step back. The fam goes to see the pictures in disbelief.
"How is this possible?" Yaz asked the Doctor.
The Doctor observed the pictures and then she stared at me. "What is your name?"
"It's (name). (name) (last name)." I replied weakly.
The Doctor nodded and went to the console, pushing some button. The monitor suddenly turned on and show information on me. While at it, the Doctor performed a scan on me via the Tardis. She also cloned my phone so that she can investigates the pictures. I think she suspected it was fake photoshop picture or something.
"Satisfied yet? I'm not lying, okay."
The Doctor hummed. "We will see."
 I groaned in annoyance.
While the Doctor busy consulting with the Tardis, I sat on one of the stairs. I watched the Doctor and the fam stay far away from me and whispered really quiet. I sighed.
The Tardis suddenly bleeping loudly and the Doctor run around the console and then stopped in front of the monitor, reading the information provided by the sentient ship.
The Doctor look awed, her mouth dropped open. She turned to look at me.
"What is it?" I asked.
"According to this, you are from an alternate universe." The Doctor replied. "But how did you even ended up here?"
"You are asking me? I have no idea. Last thing I remember is sleeping in my room at the Tardis and then I woke up here." I said.
"Tell me exactly what happened before. You said that you were shot...by some scientist?" The Doctor asked.
So I told her exactly what happened.
7777
While The Doctor is busy figuring out what exactly happened to me, I sat alone at the kitchen's Tardis. At least the way to the kitchen is still the same. I made myself a coffee and sat staring at my cup absentmindedly.
Ryan come in and sat with me for a while. He was curious about the other Ryan and asked me to tell stories about my own adventure back in my universe.
I sighed. It seemed I have come to accept what is happening to me. I am indeed in twilight zone where I have never met the Doctor and the fam thus never boarded the Tardis. I was kind of sad so to distract my mind, I relented and tell him whatever he want to know.
Eventually Yaz joined us. We started talking about our respective adventures and about the Doctor. We got a laugh over the Doctor being pretty much the same in any universe.
I don't know how long we talked but I was grateful for them for easing my loneliness. I finally noticed the Doctor is standing leaning against the doorway, watching us. A small smile touched her lips as she watches us.
"Doctor." I called out. "Did you find anything?"
She shook her head. "I'm sorry. Unless we found the weapon they used on you, I can't exactly figure it out."
"So, we have to go to the place where the scientists are? Okay. Let's go." I said, eager to get this over with so I can go back to my Doctor and my friends. "I mean, I guess we should find your version of the scientists who did this to me, right? So that you can take a look at the weapon?"
The Doctor look impressed with me.
  "Then what are waiting for?"
"Tomorrow." The Doctor replied. "We are all tired. You look tired."
I wanted to protest but she shushed me.
"Come on I will show you to your room." The Doctor said.
  7777
The Doctor left me in my new room. The room is just ordinary without any of personal touch. I felt the loneliness come back. I laid on the bed, trying to hold back my tears. I pulled my phone and swipe on the pictures of my Doctor and my fam. I hope to God that I could return back to them as soon as possible. "Please don't let me be trapped here." I whispered. I fell asleep soon after.
I woke up to the concerned voices of the Doctor and the fam. I opened my eyes in confusion. I wasn't in my room. The Tardis med-bay, my mind supplied.
The Doctor and the fam looked at me with troubled expression.
  "Doctor? What happened?"
  "You're awake."
"How did I get here? I was in my room."
"The Doctor is checking on you and she found you in a seizure." Yaz replied. "You really had all of us scared out of our mind."
I smiled a little. I felt bad for intruding on them when they didn't even know me. I frowned. I didn't remember getting a seizure though. I looked up toward the Doctor. "Thank you for checking up on me. You saved me."
"We are even then..." The Doctor said.
  "Yeah."
The Doctor gazed at me. "Do you feel any pain right now?"
"Not really, just really really tired." I trailed. My eyes widened suddenly as I look at the Doctor. "we are even?"
The Doctor looked confused. "Yeah, you did saved me first, by pushing me out of the way."
"You know me!" I yelled suddenly. "You know me, right?" I asked her and then turned to the fam. "You guys too? Yaz? Ryan? Graham?"
The Doctor and the fam stared at me as if I had gone insane and exchanged a look with each other.
"err, did she get a concussion, doc?" Ryan asked.
"Hey!!" I yelled. "Focus!! Who am I?"
  "You don't know?" Graham asked.
"Of course I know who I am. Do you? Come on, guys, work with me here!" I said as I forced myself to get up despite their protests. "Who am I?" I barked at them. If the situation is different, I would have laugh at how angry I sounded but I was desperate for them to make sure they do know me.
The Doctor stared at me and then replied, "You are (name)."
"And?" I urged. "Did I travel with you and them in the Tardis?"
"You know you do, (name)." Yaz said. "What's gotten into you?"
I sighed in relief at their confirmation. I laughed. "I'm back!" I laughed some more as tears suddenly fell into my cheeks.
"(name), are you alright?" Graham asked cautiously.
"You guys won't believe what happened to me." I said. And I told them what happened to me earlier.
  7777
I sulked. They don't believe me. At all. Because according to them, I have been sleeping in my room that whole time.  Even the Doctor said what I'm experiencing is probably a nightmare. In a way, it made sense. The Doctor and the fam never knew me? My greatest fear.
I sat on the stairs on the console room. After what happened to me, regardless whether it was real or not, I don't feel like to be alone so I sat there, watching the Doctor at the console.
The Doctor noticed me and decided to join me at the stairs.
"So, a seizure, huh? Was it because of that weapon? Have you figure out what that weapon are? Did it meant to give the victim a nightmare and a seizure?" I asked the Doctor.
  The Doctor look troubled.
  "Doctor?"
"Don't worry, (name), it will be okay."
"So there is something to worry about?"
  "Of course not."
  "But you just said..."
The Doctor surprised me when she suddenly grabbed my face. I blushed at the close proximity.
"Just trust in me, (name)." She said as she put her forehead over mine. "Just trust the Doctor."
"I do trust you, Doctor." I said softly.
I feel dizzy all of sudden and fell to the floor, unable to balance myself.  "Ow, what the hell...? That is some headache..." I looked up and frowned when I realized I was alone. "Doctor?"
  7777
My eyes widened as I take in the console room. It was different from what I used to. But there is no one in the console room. Fear nagging on the corner of my mind. Have I gone insane? Or did I somehow travel somewhere else again?
I know the Tardis is not in mid-flight, it was already landed somewhere so I got out of the Tardis to check it out. As I opened the door, I saw the beach and a man in a trench coat was there, nursing a banana daiquiri. He had his ties tied around his forehead and a black sunglasses covered his face. He was drunk as a skunk. With no one in sight, I had no choice but to go to him for information.
 "Hello." I greeted.
The man glanced at me and smiled brightly. "Why, hello there. Where did you come from? No one go to this beach this time of the years..."
  "Yeaah...about that...where am I...exactly? I'm kinda lost...?"
He beamed. "I'm good with lost thing. Oops, where is my manner? Hulla there, I'm the Doctor."
My jaw dropped in shock. "W-what? You? You are the Doctor?" I asked.
"Yeah, do you know of me then?" He asked in dopey manner.
  "But...you are a man..." I said dumbly.
"Of course I am a man. What else I could be?" He asked almost like I insult him.
"Right. She said she was once a Scotsman before. It was a time lord thingies, was it?"
He sobered up almost immediately. "How did you know that?"
"I'm not the enemy, okay? Everytime!" I yelled, pissed at his tone that is almost accusing. I admitted I was being dramatic. It was only one time but I just hated being questioned of my intention. But then again, this version of the Doctor never met me so of course he will be suspicious.
  He frowned at me.
"Look, Doctor. I don't know what is happening to me. I keep waking up into different Tardis than the one that I know of. My Doctor said everything is alright but as you can see, the fact that I'm here instead with her means something is wrong. I knew she is holding out something on me. Trust in the Doctor, my ass!" I ranted.
He blinked at me. "Soo, you are a future companion of mine then? And I will be a Time Lady in the future?"
I blinked back at him. "You are taking this surprisingly well. I thought you would give me the oncoming storm speech. Considering I have no proof that I am indeed your future companion..."
"I feel like you are quite genuine to fake it."
  "err, thanks?"
He grinned a boyish grin at me. "Right then, off to the Tardis we are!" He said as he grabbed my hand toward the Tardis.
I pulled away from him. "Bit forward, aren't you?"
"What? Didn't your Doctor grab your hand and told you to run?"
"Noo. She told me to get off my ass and help her barricade the door."
  "Oh."
"We were under alien attack, you see, it was my first time to see alien so I was kinda out of it."
"Right. That sounded like interesting story which we can continue on the Tardis. Come on."
  I followed him obediently.
  7777
I told him what happened to me, about the shooting, about the alternate universe.
The Doctor hummed as he pushed some button on the Tardis as he made the machine scan me.
"So, am I in the past or am I in some random alternate universe?" I asked.
The Doctor frowned as he observed the monitor containing information on whatever it is he is working on.
  "What is it?"
"Nothing." He said as he tried to pulled the monitor away from me but I was faster this time and I saw it.
"Ooh..." I was understandably shocked. Because according to the Tardis database, I don't exist.
"Different universe yeah?" He said as if trying to console me.
"Yeah." I nodded numbly. "But... you believe me?"
  He nodded. "Course."
I sighed in relief. "Can you get me back home?"
  "I will most certainly try."
  I nodded gratefully. "Thank you."
He smiled at me. "So, since you are from alternate universe, it meant whatever you tell me will not be spoiler. So tell me about your Doctor. I have never regenerated into a woman before. What was I like?"
"Well, you love to talk, I guess you are always like that, huh?"
  "Love talking." He said cheekily.
I described my Doctor to him. He gave me an amused smile. "What?"
  "Sounded like you fancy her..."
I blushed. "Shut up. She is my best friend, okay."
  He grinned.
My stomach choose that moment to protest in hunger much to my embarassment.
He chuckled. "Come on, let's go to the kitchen."
I followed him gratefully. "Doctor, where are your companion?"
His smile vanished. "I wasn't taking anyone currently."
"Ooh." I felt bad for bringing that up because it sure ruined his mood. "I'm sorry."
  "What for?"
"For whatever happened to you or your companion."
  He look surprised.
"You have that sad eyes, like my Doctor. Before she met me and the fam, she lost someone too."
He smiled sadly. "Yeah that tends to happened." He sighed and then he stared at me. "The fam?"
I shrugged. "It is what she called us."
"Blimey how many companion did she have right now?"
I told him about the fam happily. He was lonely, I can tell. I wonder what happened to his companion. But I know better than to ask that. So all I can do is tell him about my funny adventures to ease his loneliness. We entered the kitchen and he started preparing a light snack and tea for me.
  7777
I woke up on the floor...again.
"err, how did you get here?" A young man suddenly waved me for attention.
"W-what? Where am I?" I asked in confusion.
"You are in the Tardis kitchen but how did you get here?"
  "Are you the Doctor?"
"No. I'm Rory, my wife and I travel with him." He said. "Are you alright?" He look concerned.
"My head hurts." I said. "Can you get me to the Doctor please?"
He nodded. "Wait here." He quickly left and yelled for Amy and the Doctor.
My head hurts really badly. I felt like I'm about to throw up. I forced myself to stand up and walked out of the kitchen and fell.
  7777
"DOCTOOOORR!!" A young woman screamed loudly making me wince. "Hey, are you alright?"
  I groaned. "I'm not okay. I think I'm dying..." I said.
  "DOCTOOOORRR!!"
I groaned. "Please stop yelling at me. God, I'm in hell..."
  "Sorry."
"Clara, what's with all the yelling?" An old man dressed like a magician suddenly appeared.
  "Look at her."
"Who is she? Did you invite a stranger without my permission?"
"I did not! I found her in the corridor like that." Clara said with a glare.
He sonic-ed me. "You looked like hell."
"I'm dying..." I said almost petulantly.
"She kept saying that..." Clara said.
  "Get her to the medbay."
Contrary to my belief, I was not dying. Apparently I was dehydrated. The Doctor gave me some infusion. I felt so much better now.
The Doctor and the young woman who identified as Clara stared at me curiously as I devoured some food they gave me.
"Right, you want an explanation." I said.
"That would be great, yeah." Clara said.
"Well, what did the Tardis tell you? Am I at least exist here?" I asked.
The Doctor frowned. "How do you mean?"
"The last universe I was in, the Doctor told me that I didn't exist. The one before that apparently never met me. I'm so tired. I just want to go home to my Doctor and my friends." I said tiredly.
"Tell me exactly what happened to you." The Doctor demanded suddenly.
  And so I did. Again.
"So, ever since the shot, you have been crossing all over the universe?" Clara asked in awe.
I sighed. "That, or my Doctor is right and this is all just happening in my head. A nightmare of some kind. Though I didn't think so. Even I wouldn't be able to conjure so many detail about the Doctor."
The Doctor told me that the Doctor I met in the beach is his tenth incarnation and that he was the Twelfth one.
"Yeah, I think my Doctor is after this you. She mentioned that she used to be a Scotsman before." I replied.
"Wait, your Doctor is a woman?" Clara asked giddily. "Oh, I have to meet her."
The Doctor gave Clara a look.
"What? I am curious. You as a woman." Clara said with a grin at the Doctor. "Tell me what she look like." She asked me.
"Am I allowed to tell her?" I asked the Doctor. "Am I in the past or...?" I'm almost afraid to ask.
"You are in an alternate universe. And you did exist here." The Doctor said.
  I nodded.
"Well? Tell me please." Clara urged me.
I grinned at her and told her what she wanted to know.
The Doctor pretended to be busy with something else but both Clara and I know he is secretly listening. He asked me for some blood sample and I let him. I trust him.
The last words my Doctor left me...trust in the Doctor. So I did.
  7777
I woke up alone in the Tardis medbay. I sighed, resigning myself to be in another random place of universe. I wonder where I ended up right now.
I got out of the medbay trying to find the Doctor. For once, I recognized the Tardis interior. My hearts swelled with hope that I am back at home. I walked as fast as I can to the console room hoping to find the Doctor or the fam. I found none.
I got out of the Tardis. I was in some alien planet. Without thinking for my safety, I stepped out of the Tardis. And then I saw her. The Doctor. My Doctor. But does she know me?
The Doctor stood alone, looking so lonely. My heart ached for her.
  "Doctor?" I called out.
The Doctor turned around and her eyes widened as she saw me. "(name)? Is it really...you?" she stuttered my name.
I gave her a hesitant smile. "It's me."
She hugged me and she actually burst into tears.
I hugged her back but I was confused. "Doctor, what's wrong?"
She pulled out of the hug and put both of her hands over my face. She smiled sadly. "My (name)..."
I felt uncomfortable. I like her so much. In fact, I could actually admitted that I have a crush on her. But the way she called my name, it's almost like we are lovers which I know we are not.
"I missed you so much." She said with a sob.
I was floored. The Doctor? Doing emotion? Something is wrong with her. "Doctor, where is the fam?"
She sobered up immediately. A dark expression crossed her features.
   "What's it?"
   "I lost them...to the cyberman."
  I blinked. "Jack's warning..."
  She nodded sadly.
  "What happened?"
"I failed them." She only said that, not wanting to relive the painful memory.
I wanted to cry. I can't believe it. The fam can't be gone.  "How long have I been gone?"
She didn't answer. Instead she turned around and walked toward to a bunch of stone. I followed her and I froze when I saw it.
It was my graveyard. The stone has my name carved on it.
I shook my head. "This isn't it. This isn't home." I whispered.
"She said that too." The Doctor said. "You, she died in my arms. She died in pain and she kept screaming that she wanted to go home."
I was shook to the core. Is this my future? Did I just give myself a spoiler?
"I never understand what is happening to her. I tried to make sense of it. It sounded like she was being torn apart from the inside." The Doctor said with a forlorn look.
I shook my head in disbelief. I ran back toward the Tardis. I screamed while I was inside. "Please, please take me back home! I'm done with this! I'm done!!"
The Doctor entered the Tardis. Her eyes looked sad.
I ignored her as I broke down in tears. I bend my knees on the floor and cried.
She also sat beside me and hugged me close.
"What is happening to me? Please fix me, Doctor." I begged her. "Please..."
The Doctor nodded weakly. "I will. Of course, I will."
I stared at her. "Promise me." I demanded. I know I was being cruel. "I want to go back to my Doctor and to my friends."
  "I promise."
The Doctor lies. That's what the Master once told me when we met. She won't lie, would she?
I made the mistake to gaze at her and I saw something frightening in her features.
  7777
I blinked and froze when I saw Twefth Doctor and Clara again. I was in a different console room again.
  They stared at me.
  "You are back." Clara said.
My whole body just trembled mixture of fear, shock and relief.
"I just found out I will die a painful death." I blurted as I wipe my tears off with my sleeve.
The Doctor and Clara blinked at me.
"I'm so tired of saying this. But for the love of God, please help me, Doctor." I begged him.
The Doctor stared at me and nodded. "Your blood sample come back. You are indeed dying."
  "Doctor!" Clara shouted in warning.
I nodded and laughed harshly. "I figures as much."
"There is something changing your DNA and it made you into a personal time machine. One that seemed to anchor yourself to the Doctor. Any Doctor. Any universes." The Doctor said. "And you are only human, your body can't take it. You are dying a slow death."
I sighed. "I guess the good thing about this is it was me instead of the Doctor." I said softly. If I had not pushed my Doctor out of the way, it would be her in this predicament. The thought of the Doctor dying, I shuddered. The universe will be screwed.
The Doctor looked like he was being slapped. "She would not want that. I, she would not want you to die in her place."
"I didn't want to die either. But..." I stared at Clara. "You would do the same for him, wouldn't you?"
Clara stared at her Doctor solemnly. "In  a heartbeat."
  The Doctor gazed at Clara.
"Right, okay? Is there a way to at least prolong my life?" I asked them, broke them from their loving gaze.
The Doctor replied without looking at me, "Working on it... Would be easier if you led me to the scientists so I can take a look at their project."
"Right." I tried to wreck my brain to remember what planet the Doctor took me that times. I was at loss.
He rolled his eyes. "Human. Pudding brain."
"Hey!!" Both Clara and I yelled at him.
He grabbed me and told me to put my hands on the Tardis telepathic circuit. He told me to focus on my memory of that planet. So I did.
  7777
I was in a middle of a town square. The town sign told me it was Christmas. I groaned. "Now what?"
I heard the unmistakable sound of a sonic screwdriver and a man in bow tie is wielding it at me.
  "Hello, there, I'm the Doctor."
"I know. The sonic screwdriver kinda gives you away."
  "You know me then?"
I sighed. "This is bullshit. Doctor, I'm a future companion, okay? I traveled with your Thirteenth incarnation. But I might be from another universes. It has been happening a lot lately. And I'm dying apparently."
The Doctor glared at me and let out a harsh chuckle. "Nice one. But I am on my last regeneration and I don't have anymore. So, who are you, really?"
I stared at him disbelief. "You have got to be joking. I don't have a proof, okay? But I wasn't lying."
"Yeah, you are not lying about dying, are you?" The Doctor said as he read the result of his scan from his sonic screwdriver.
I fell silent to that. "Fine." I said. "Don't believe me for all I care. I won't be here long anyway. I probably gonna disappear to another universe, another you again soon." I crossed my arms, well aware that I'm sulking.
He frowned at that. "You are from another universe." He stared at me as he circled me around.
"Oh now you are curious, are you not?" I mocked him in my anger. I shuddered in cold.
He sighed and he pulled his jacket and gave it to me much to my surprise.
I took it and murmured a small thank you.
He took me inside a tower.
  "Soo...you believe me?"
"You can't tell a lie here. There is a truth field in this planet. So, yeah, I do believe you." He said as he gave me some hot tea. "So, tell me about what's been happening to you. Sounded like you have a tough day."
"You have no idea. And honestly, I'm tired of having to tell it over and over again to every version of you. I never stick around long enough to get some answers." I said solemnly.
  "Tell me anyway." He requested.
  And so I did. Again.
  7777
I felt dizzy. "Oh great..." I moaned without opening my eyes.
"Found you." Someone suddenly grabbed me from behind and hugged me.
It was the Thirteenth Doctor but from her voice, I could tell immediately she is not the one.
I tried to move away from her but she kept me still. "Doctor?" I called out.
"My (name)..." She whispered and then she put some sort of a collar on me.
I struggled against her but it was futile. "What the hell is this?"
"I found a way to keep you from splintering again." She said as she released me.
I fingered the collar. "This?" I asked as I turned to face her. I noticed she was dressed differently from her usual clothing. Everything about her feels different.
  She nodded solemnly.
  "Splintering?" I asked.
"Basically you tearing every atom in your body by traveling all over the alternate universe."
"So, as long as I wear this, I can stay here."
  She beamed. "Yes. With me."
"But, if you are from my future, wouldn't this be a paradox or something?"
She smiled at me chillingly as she caresses my cheek. "Don't worry your pretty face about it." She said. "There, I keep my promise. I fix you, my dear."
I forced a smile for her despite feeling really uncomfortable and also I can't help that bad feeling nagging in my gut. Instead I said, "But does it have to be a collar?"
She laughed in delight. "Would you prefer a ring instead?"
I blushed at that. "Maybe." I muttered. "Because this collar isn't really me at all."
She smiled at me in fondness. "Then I will work on it for you." She pulled my hand. "Come on, you must be tired and hungry."
I followed her to a room. I didn't recognize it.
"This is my room." She said.
I blinked in surprise and took a look at the room. "It's nice." I said lamely.
She grinned. "Come, sit with me. Tell me all about your adventures."
I stared at her warily but did as requested. She gave me plenty of food and drink and it was all my favorite. I smiled at her.
  7777
I must have fallen asleep. I blinked for once realizing I'm still in the same place. The collar did work after all. But the Doctor is nowhere to be found.
I walked out of the room and take a glance at the corridors. I decided to go find some food in the kitchen when I heard voices in the distant followed by some bleeping light on the corridor. Almost like the Tardis is trying to guide me somewhere. So I followed it.
I wish I didn't. I can't believe what I saw. The Doctor. She had a hostage on board of the Tardis. I distinctly recognized the scientist that shot at me. The Doctor is torturing him.
I felt like I was being punched. I was so scared. I wanted to confront her, to demand her for explanation but that bad feeling in the pit of my gut come back full force. I decided not to risk it. I slowly left the place, hoping she didn't notice me.
As soon as I was a safe distance away from the Doctor, I pulled on my collar wanting to rip it free but realized in horror that I couldn't.
"Nooo. This can't be happening. What is happening?" I muttered to myself, shaken in fear.
I touched the wall and hesitantly speak toward the sentient machine. "You purposely show me that. What do you want me to do?"
There is no answer. I felt weak in my knees. I let myself fall to the floor, hugging my knees and cried.
A hologram suddenly appeared before me. It was the hologram of the Thirteenth Doctor but it was wearing the original clothing. It was staring at me in somber.
  "Tardis?" I asked.
  "Run." It said.
  "What?"
The hologram suddenly vanished as the real Doctor suddenly showed up. She was staring at me with a look I can't decipher.
"You should have stay back in my room, (name)." She said solemnly.
"Why did the Tardis tell me to run from you?" I demanded.
She shrugged. "She is just confused. My old girl."
"She is warning me about you." I said.
She rolled her eyes. "Come on, (name), be reasonable."
"Reasonable? I'm not the one who has been torturing people!" I snapped.
I know I did something wrong when a dark expression crossed her feature.
"You saw it, didn't you?" She said in resignation. "Oh, well..." She moved toward me.
  I stopped her. "Don't."
"Don't be afraid of me, (name), I would never hurt you."
"You just going to keep me as your pet, is that it?" I asked.
She blinked at that. "I promise I will change that collar into a ring soon."
"This is not about the damn collar!" I yelled.
She didn't look bothered by my outburst.
"Actually, yes, this is about the collar." I recanted as I tried to pulled it off. "Why can't I take it off?" I demanded.
She smiled chillingly. "I have to make sure you will stay with me."
I shook my head in denial. "Who are you? The Doctor I know wouldn't do this to me."
She snorted. "You don't know me that well, (name)."
"You are right. And right now, I don't want to know you."
She look like she was being slapped. She growled at me. "Stand up."
I glared at her. "No. You go away." I said petulantly.
"(name) (last name), do not test me."
"Leave me alone." I said as I closed my eyes, covering both of my ears. "Just leave me alone!"
Silence. And then I felt her hands pulled my hands away from my ears as she put her forehead over mine. And then she whispered, "Never."
I opened my eyes to look at her and stunned at her sorrowful expression. Part of me almost wanting to comfort her.
And then everything went to black.
   7777
When I woke up next, I was hoping to be somewhere else. The one time I wish I could leave, I got stuck. I woke up in a room, not the Doctor's room from earlier. I was alone. The Doctor is nowhere to be found. I realized in horror that this particular room does not have a door. I can't tell the way out.
The Doctor never showed her face to me for the next few hours? days? I don't know. At first, I didn't care. I did wonder if she is planning to starve me as she has not given me any sustenance. Strangely enough I did not feel hunger or thirsty. Heck, I didn't even need to go to the bathroom which is probably a good thing as it would be embarrassing if I have to pee or more all over the place. Though it did make me wonder if I was already dead. Why else would I not require sustenance?
There was nothing to do in the room. I was alone with my thoughts. And I was never good at being alone. I refused to let her win though. I know she is punishing me, a silent treatment of sort. For a time, I was fine with it. I thought of my favorite stories, my favorite scene in a movie, a favorite song, anything to get my mind off the loneliness.
"Tardis?" I called out hesitantly. "Can you...talk to me?"
  Nothing.
I sighed as I sat on the floor, hugging my knees close. I was bored out of my mind. I started wondering if this will be the end of me.
Eventually the Doctor did visited me but she always appeared out of nowhere. I tried to be vigilant on her next visit in hope I could catch a glimpse of the way out. No such luck.
She gave me some book to read and an ipod containing music. She even brought some flower and put it on a small table.
I was curious about how long I have been here and how it is I remained alive without sustenance for so long.
"This is a time vault. It basically forcing you to stay alive." She explained. "Like the flower I brought in, it won't require water to remain blooming. This place sort of paused your time, I suppose."
  "Why am I here?"
  "It is for your safety."
  "So, this is a prison."
"It doesn't have to be. I just need you to accept your reality."
"And what is my reality, Doctor?"
The Doctor stared at me. "If you have to ask, that's meant you still didn't get it."
My eyes widened as I realized something. "I'm still dying, aren't I?"
The Doctor flinched immediately and I know I was right.
"Even with the collar, I am still dying. It just stopped me from...splintering away." I said as I stared her down.
  She didn't reply.
  "I was right, wasn't I? That's why I am here in this...Time Vault. You put me...on pause."
She smiled solemnly at me. "500 points for (name)." she said, her joking tone fell flat.
I shook my head. "This is insane. This is all wrong. You have got to let me go."
"If I do, you will die."
  "Maybe that's what I want!"
  "You didn't mean that."
I didn't reply. I know it's pointless to argue with her, so this time, I'm the one who give her silent treatment.
She sighed and then she left. She left me alone for so long. The next time she come in, I almost felt relieved, craving for any company.
I know she did this on purpose. She wanted to put that Stockholm syndrome thing on me. But I won't let it come to that. It was a time like this that I wish I could actually do some meditation to clear my mind and stuff.
I think I go insane for a bit. I started talking to the shadow created by my slowly deteriorating mind. The books laid scattered on the floor, torn apart. So does the flowers and the vase and the table. I didn't destroy the ipod. Yet.
I started laughing at the song 'Sweet but Psycho'. It reminded me of the situation I'm in for some reason. And then I started crying. Then I threw away the ipod across the room. My emotion is all over the place lately.
The Doctor came in once in a while and she was nice and friendly one minute and shut me down next. I begged her to let me out of this room. I begged and promised I won't run. But she didn't believe me. I hated her so much at that moment and I yelled it at her. She left again.
I screamed and I cried. I demanded the Tardis to talk to me, to help me. But, of course, she didn't respond. Needless to say, I ruined the room again. I know the room will clean up by itself again later on, no matter the damage.
One day, the door suddenly showed itself. I had to blink my eyes a few times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
  "Run."
I heard the word in my mind and I did. I bolted out immediately. I have no idea the surrounding around me but the small light appearing on the corridor guided me somewhere to a another room....where a single hanging rope and a medium chair is waiting for me.
I frowned and then I giggled. I guess I did lose my mind because I walked toward it. I stood on the chair and fingered the rope that is fitting around my neck. I guess this is the only way I can escape. I kicked the chair and almost immediately the breath is knocked out of me as I struggled against the rope. It was painful and it took so long for me to black out completely.
Suddenly an alarm ringing loudly as I was about to black out. I could heard the Doctor screaming at me or the Tardis?
The Doctor pulled me down and laid me on the floor. She was crying. I almost feel sorry for her. She took off the rope and the collar.
Oh. So, that's why the Tardis did this. I suddenly having a realization. I wanted to laugh but I couldn't.
The Doctor pulled some injection and hit it on somewhere on my body and I gasped really loudly and coughed hard. She laughed and cried in relief at the same time. She hugged me tight. "Don't ever do that again, (name)! I can't lose you!" she begged me.
Whatever that injection is, it was a very good drug as I could feel the pain is gone. My hand rubbed the rope burn mark on my neck. I realized if I ever could have any control over the splintering, now would be the good time. As much it pained me to left her behind, I know my presence here is bad for her.
I could feel myself being ripped away right at that moment.
The heartbroken look on the Doctor's face seared forever in my mind.
  7777
I stumbled down and someone caught me in their arms. I could see a visible blond hair and my blood ran cold. What if I was still with her? I screamed.
The owner of the blonde hair also screamed, more like in surprise than anything. It was then I realized it wasn't the Doctor.
I pushed the woman away from me and I ran blindly into another person who grabbed me firmly. "Let me go! Just leave me alone!" I screamed.
The man calmed me down. "It's okay. You're okay. You're safe." And somehow, I did calm down some but I was still sobbing.
"Doctor, who is she?" The woman I pushed asked. "She appeared out of nowhere."
"Doctor, I think she is hurt." Another voice said. It was a man. I recognized that voice. It was Jack Harkness, I think. "Look at her neck..."
The man who grabbed me pulled my hair aside and frowned when he saw the rope burn around my neck. "Who did this to you?"
I laughed hysterically. "I did this. I have to get her to take it off." I said. "well, I had help, isn't that right, old girl?" I looked up toward the ceiling
  "Take what off?" Jack asked.
"Are you talking to the Tardis?" The Doctor asked in the same time.
"I guess she wouldn't know me, different Tardis, different Doctor." I said. "The Doctor, my Doctor...She has gone insane. I am too, I guess. She wanted to keep me even though I already died." I laughed again. "i'm going to die in pain, she said. I'm scared." I whispered. "The fam is dead too. She said she failed them. She put me on pause." I said and giggled at how ridiculous that sounded.
I know they are probably confused with my incoherent babbling but I really don't care. I told them about the collar and the Time Vault. Their Doctor is probably the only one who can put the pieces together from my rambling.
"Wait, I'm confused, some woman that has the same name as you did this to her?" Rose asked.
Jack's eyes widened as he glanced at the Doctor. He know a bit about Time Lord from his time as a Time agent so he knew about regeneration.
The Doctor nodded at Jack. "She is from the future. My future." He look troubled, probably feeling ill when he realized I'm a future companion and as I babbled on, spoiler that his future-self has gone insane.
I chuckled. "I might not. I could be from alternate universe. That has been happening to me, always alternate universe, always another Doctor. But never the correct Doctor. She said I should trust in the Doctor. I tried. But her future-self is torturing people even if she did it to the person who shot me. I can never go home." I said and I cried, wailing actually.
The Doctor awkwardly trying to comfort me. Of course, he wanted to know the mystery behind me even though I'm sick of telling it to the Doctor. But before I could, I finally recognized the somewhat tingling feeling as I was about to be ripped away once more.
  7777
I dropped on my knees and coughed blood. Well, this is new.
"(name)? (name)!" A man rushed toward me. "Are you hurt? Where are you hurt?" He demanded as he check me for injuries.
I looked up to see the Tenth Doctor and he wasn't alone. He recognized me which I'm grateful because I think I'm going to throw up if I have to repeat everything again.
"Doctor, I think she is sick. She is coughing blood. And look at her neck! Is that...? Did someone strangle her with a rope?" The woman fussed over me.
The Doctor introduced me to Martha, a medical student. He pulled up my chin and asked with a very serious manner, "Who did this to you?"
I wanted to answer but I coughed up again and then I fainted.
  7777
I was expecting to be pulled into another place but I woke up to the Doctor and Martha fussing over me at the Tardis medbay.
I have a clearer mind now. I guess my nervous breakdown has dissipated now.  Plus it seemed I got a good rest from that fainting despite the blood bonus. I coughed up again. When I saw the blood, I chuckled. "So, it's finally happening..."
The Doctor stared at me. "What happened to you?"
"A lot. And frankly, I'm tired. I'm dying, I'm sure you know from the scanning." I said. "I went to the future, my future, and my friends are all dead and the Doctor is insane." I was being brutally blunt now.
Despite my words about his alternate version being insane, he seemed to be taking it well. "How can I help?" The Doctor asked  instead as he took one of my hand in a gesture of comfort.
"A cure would be nice. A cure for what did this to me." I said. I told him to investigate their version of the scientist who did this to me. Chances are they would also developing the weapon used to shot me with. Hopefully.
  The Doctor agreed with me.
"Tell me your finding when or if we meet again..." I said.
The Doctor and Martha looked at me in confusion.
I smiled weakly and waved goodbye at them as I felt myself being pulled to another place in another time.

Lie to Me – Hux x Reader - Ch. 2: Lies & Truths
Tumblr media
A/N: Hello! Sadly, I couldn’t come up with chapter 20 of Lie to Me, as I am very busy at work this week we are moving out, Gods don’t wish that even for the worst of enemies and when I got home, I couldn’t only think about sleeping. But I decided to come here and update chapter 2 of Lie to Me - Lies & Truths. It’s not the same thing and I know you’re waiting for Reader’s answers for Hux’s question “Will you rule with me?”, but I really couldn’t update. Sorry! xD Anyways, I hope you like it xD I promise, I’ll be able to update next week. You can hold me to that! Also, my thanks to everyone who left a kudo and reblogged the 1st chapter! Love you all <3 If you want to be tagged, let me know!
Story Summary: Falling for the enemy… That’s probably the stupidest thing you’ve ever done. Letting him live… for he should be dead. And you should’ve been the one to kill him. You had him, right there… and you let it escape through yours fingers. He lived. And now only the time could tell if you made the right decision — more likely wrong — by saving the amnesiac General of the First Order and telling him he was your husband. [Hux x Reader - Hux x You]

Tumblr media
FOR A MOMENT, NEITHER OF YOU SPOKE. HIS SILENCE MADE YOU EVEN MORE APPREHENSIVE. It was obvious he recalled at least a bit of his life — he did recall his father and the First Order — to have some doubts about being married to you would not be that much of a surprise, would it?
Slowly, his hand withdrew from your face and you inhaled sharply, as if expecting him to deny everything you said. Thankfully, he did not seem force sensitive — if you could go by the information on the datapad, he seemed quite averse to it; relying on the military prowess —, for if he were, he would know you were lying. If he did not know already.
“You should sleep,” you said once again, this time hoping he would follow your advice. “We can talk tomorrow, my…” Love… you would say. At some point, you would have to say it if he were to believe the two of you were indeed married and that was not just some made up story you came up with.
The very thought of using such endearment to him — a stranger, a murderer, your enemy none the less, made you feel nauseated; when you had only used that to your late husband —, so you decided to use what came first to your mind. Lord… That would do. In most unions in Dantooine, the husband owned the wife, so you figured out he would not find it odd if you decided to call him by such title.
“Rest now, my Lord…” you finished.
When his blue eyes did not leave you, you had to bite the inside of your cheek to control your urge to scream.
“I promise we will have a long conversation tomorrow.”
His eyes closed this time, but the blank expression on his face did not make you feel any more reassured. On the contrary, you expected him to wake up in the middle of the night and kill you for your lies — half-truths, you corrected yourself. If — and again there were so many ifs in this entire situation — the datapad was anything to go by, there was indeed someone inside the First Order trying to get rid of him, so when you said they attacked him, it could very well be the truth.
“Did the First Order choose you?”
Kriffing hell!
What were you supposed to answer to that?
You decided, for a change, to go with the truth.
“No.”
You wetted your lips and stared at his face. He still had his eyes closed, as if in deep thought.
“Should they?” This time, you were genuinely curious. “Does the First Order always choose with whom their assets should get married?”
He opened his eyes, staring intensely at you. He did not have enough time to try to raise his chest from the bed; you placed your hand on his firm skin, pressing him down.
A hiss escaped his lips as you made contact with his still unhealed wound.
“You never… Never spoke much about the First Order…”
You only hoped he did not catch the trembling in your voice. It was getting increasingly difficult to keep that lie — and you had only started it.
Get a grip of yourself, (Y/N)!
“I see…” he mumbled to himself and you took the opportunity to bring the blanket to cover his nude chest.
“Now, you really should rest, my Lord.”
Your anxiety skyrocketed when you left the bedroom, put the utensils in the sink and let your trembling legs slither to the floor. The lights flickered in and out again, till everything went black. Senses once more sharpened, you could hear his breathing as he apparently slept in the chamber beside the kitchen.
Your house was small, and the rooms were all close together. There was no luxury and the few furniture you still had — most of it you took to the Hospital; there were people who needed them more than you did — were old and worn out. Not very fit to welcome a General of the First Order.
The very thought made you smile.
It was all so ridiculous.
You should’ve killed him…
This thought did not leave your mind. And even if the idea of murdering someone in cold blood repulsed you, you knew it was probably the right thing to do. How many more lives would he take if he recovered his lost memories? And you bet he would recover them sooner than you expected.
What was one life close to millions? Billions, even.
Tired, you closed your own eyes and rested your head against the pillar of the sink. You did not expect sleep to find you so soon.
You woke up the next morning with the sound a hiss and something crashing on the ground — a glass, perhaps? or so you thought. With blurred eyes and confused about your whereabouts — it was not usual for you to wake up on the floor — you walked to the bedroom, only to find your… husband — the word brought a bitter taste to your lips — trying to get up from the bed.
The need to roll your eyes was huge, but you schooled your features and opened your mouth to ask what he thought he was doing, however, you were interrupted by him and an aggravating question, “Where did you sleep?”
You opened your mouth twice to explain, but the words failed you. If you were married, it was expected that you slept on the same bed. However, due to his condition, it was obvious you were not to share such a small mattress with him, unless you both hoped to worsen his already fragile condition.
Of course, he did not buy your explanation and simply dismissed it with his hand as he sat on the bed. His arms shook with the exertion. You forgot the quarrel — could it be called as such? It was obvious he did not like what you said — and rushed to his side, aiding him to rise.
“I need a bath,” he said, and you could not help but notice his voice sounded much clearer than the night before.
You nodded. No one could say you did not agree with him. In this past month you had cleaned him with wet tissues, but he weighed more than he looked, and you were afraid of opening his wounds if you moved him too much.
With no help whatsoever — no one in the village knew he was your guest; you feared their reaction to the news that would come sooner or later —, you had to improvise.
It did not mean he stank, but he did not sport the most pleasant of scents either. He seemed repulsed by his appearance in general and bothered with how he smelled — if how he scrunched his nose was of any indication, it is.
With a barely concealed smile, you placed his arm on your shoulders and guided him to the armchair in which you usually slept. The flimsy blanket and pillow were still tossed carelessly, with you having no time whatsoever to rearrange anything before the abrupt wake up call.
“This is where you have been sleeping.” It was no question. His arms were on the armrests, his eyes watching every part of the small house with rapt attention.
You usually did not bother yourself with how your house looked — you spent very little time in it anyways and there were more people out there who did not have half of what you owned, however little it was — but his scrutiny made you feel slightly uncomfortable.
Remembering he had asked you a question or something close to it, you replied on your way to the refresher, “Not tonight, my lord.”
There was silence while you drew the bath. It did not matter how poor the entire planet was after so many conflicts and Wars, it still did have much water — you had heard of invaded planets who had Factions controlling the water and distributing it as if Kyber Crystal — and no matter how much poor your house was, the fresher was conveniently furnished. You once had a sonic shower, but you saw fit to give it to the Hospital where it would be put to better use. You always dreamed of having a sonic bath, but you never managed to get one. It would be handy now, if you had one. Your husband would have to be contented with a bath and, when he could stand on his legs by himself, the shower.
When you felt the water was warm enough to relax his sore muscles, but not too hot to burn his skin, you walked back to the bedroom and found him assessing his injuries.
It did not take him long to focus those impossibly blue eyes on you.
“How long have we been married?”
Kriffs!
That you were not expecting.
You opened your mouth, but all reasoning seemed to have left you. And here you were worried the General would complain about the lack of a sonic shower and bath in the fresher.
His voice surprised you yet again and the reasoning contained in his words left your mouth hanging open.
“By my counts, we couldn’t have been together for more than measly three years.”
“Three and half, my lord,” you replied, looking at the floor.
Considering both of your ages and how long you were widowed, it seemed a fair reasoning. You just had to remind yourself of such assertion in case he ever asked again or anyone around you did.
“And that’s the state of this…” His eyes left you and roamed the surroundings. You felt your face warming up with embarrassment. Truth be told, you knew how to repair most of what needed to be repaired, but you did not have time nor energy to do so. “…of our house?”
You did not know what to make out of his words. Was he ashamed because it usually fell on the husband’s shoulder to take care of the house or because he had to live — temporarily, you added that as it would make you less guilty — in such uninhabitable place?
He tried to get to his feet again and this time he roughly managed to, his arms placed against the wall, holding most of his weight.
“Let me help you, my Lord. With one of his arms around your shoulders, you sustained him. He was a tall man, you noticed it now. Even leaning on you, he still towered. You wondered how taller he would look when he could stand up by himself. “You are still bedsore, my Lord. I believe you will be able to walk by yourself by the end of the week.”
“Unacceptable.”
His answer caught you off guard and made you furrow your brows.
“Two days at most.”
You did not comment that after receiving injuries such as his, it would be almost impossible for him to be around and about in only two days and instead concentrated on helping him to enter the refresher.
It was the next action that caused you to stop on your tracks. You swallowed. His trousers would have to be removed at some point and there was no else around to help you. Or help him.
You drew in a sharp breath and moved your hands to his trousers, only to have them gently pushed away.
Oh, thank the maker!
Without looking at him; your eyes conveniently stationed at his shoulders, you helped him enter the bathtub and turned your back on him immediately, part of you screaming that you would not go far on that lie if you refused to look at him in the eye — or naked. The other half only guaranteed it was the right thing to do. He was a stranger — and even if he were your husband, without his memories, he was basically a stranger — and as such you should preserve his privacy, even from yourself.
Yes.
That made sense.
“Where are you going?”
Errr…
He was not supposed to ask that.
“Make breakfast?” You bit your bottom lip and asked — hoping, praying, whatever, for a negative answer, “Do you…” You told yourself to breathe. “Do you need help, my Lord?”
His lack of answer was answer enough.
What a relief.
You let yourself exhale slowly and squared your shoulders to exit the fresher. You did not go that far, however. His voice sounded loud and clear in your ears.
“I do expect you to return to our bed tonight.”
The reply was automatic. Without him staring at you with those icy blue eyes, it was easier to voice your opinions and disagreements.
“It would only worsen your condition.”
Noticing that perhaps it came out a bit harsher, you added “my Lord”, something that would become customary in the future.
He took a while to respond, and it was all that took for you to leave the fresher. His voice, however, caught you in your way to the kitchen.
“I have survived worse.”
Tumblr media
You were not surprised to find out he could, indeed, stand on his legs in two days — even if it was with the help of an improvised cane, he was walking around and about. If anything, it only made you realize that your enemy was a powerful and dangerous man; that he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
The two of you were currently in the kitchen, sharing a meal in silence — you would not come to label it as comfortable, but it was not awkward either. Your eyes were cast down and his were focused on your face.
He chewed the food slowly, taking his time. Now you knew he was not scrunching his nose at the smell. At one point everyone gets used to Kibla Green.
Carefully, you raised your eyes from your bowl and ran them over his frame. He almost made you choke when you realized he caught you staring.
Face scorching hot, you shifted your attention back to your food.
Last night had him querying you about his clothes. They were absolutely not his style. Not to mention they did quite not fit him.
He was slimmer than your husband — the only and one — and taller. As a result, most of the clothing was simply not his match. Too large and too small at the same time.
Not that hungry anymore, you just toyed with the food in your bowl, not very keen on finishing it. A billion of thoughts ran through your head, all of them aggravating. The worse, however, was that nasty, nagging feeling that he knew somehow.
His questions only added to this sensation and darkened your mood. He would question just about everything. You were almost pointing out that he was paranoid — not that he did not have reasons to be. You knew that one did not reach the position of General of the First Order by trusting everyone. However, you thought that given his current state, you should be the one he would trust the most.
It was just infuriating that he didn’t!
You bit the inside of your cheek. You had to come up with some idea to make this situation a bit better. To make him believe you.
Noticing that he had finished and that you yourself could not eat anymore, you picked both of your bowls and placed them in the sink. You returned to the table, ready to retrieve the rest of the utensils when he wrapped his hand around your wrist.
Startled, you raised your eyes to his — even with him sitting down and you standing up, you could not say you towered over him — just to find his blue orbs closed.
His shudder was not missed by you, and you lost no time to ask if he was in pain.
“I’ll just clean up this mess and I’ll get a look at your wounds.”
He remained silent; his eyes trained on your lips as you spoke. The hand wrapped around your wrist caressed the inside of your pulse, making your blood pump faster.
You tugged your arm lightly, asking silently for him to let go.
He didn’t.
“My Lord…”
As if he finally heard you, he stood up. Hand still wrapped around your wrist, he pulled you closer. Much closer than proper, much closer than you felt comfortable with.
You tried to calm down your heartbeats and reminded yourself he thought he was your husband.
It all gone to waste when he lifted your chin; his right hand on the small of your back, tracing it with small strokes.
You shuddered.
He bowed his head and closed the gap between you.
Kriffs!
You closed your eyes.
His breath caressed your face.
You heart was on the verge of escaping your mouth.
Another shudder.
You could almost feel his lips on yours.
His tips held your chin firmly in place, but not enough to bruise. He was almost… gentle.
Your heart beat faster now.
His lips were almost grazing yours.
Even closer now…
His lips skimmed your cheek and later your chin.
Your chest heaved.
When you finally could not take it anymore, you mumbled.
“Please…”
You did not know what you were begging for. Was it for him to kiss you at once or for him to break apart?
He seemed to take it for the second and stepped away.
You shuddered again when his warmth was no longer engulfing you.
Slowly, you opened your eyes only to find him staring back at you; an unreadable expression on his bluish orbs.
“Don’t we have a protocol droid?”
He traced your lips with the tip of his finger.
You gasped.
And totally forgot his question.
He leisurely smoothed his index finger on your bottom lip. You felt your mouth growing dry and subconsciously tried to wet it. Only to have your tongue caressing his skin.
This time, both of you shuddered.
Eyes widened, you broke apart and put some distance between your bodies. He straightened his back and looked at you, as if expecting your answer.
Furrowing your brows, you wondered what he did ask in the first place.
“The droid,” he offered, eyes once again focused on you.
The protocol droid. Right!
“We did have one,” you said, trying to control your breath. Once again, you decided to go for the truth. Or the half-truth. “But I decided give it to the hospital. They would put it to a better use.”
“I see,” he replied, both of his hands crossed behind his back.
In this position, he seemed very almighty. In fact, he looked like the very general you had seen in the datapad.
A minute or two passed in silence and you found yourself unable to control your nerves and get it done with the utensils.
He had almost kissed you.
And you stood there and let him.
Almost, you reminded yourself.
But it should not get this far. Not this soon, at least.
Not ever, part of you thought. The other part knew, however, that one day he would want to do whatever married couples did and how were you supposed to deny him?
You could not go for ‘you’re injured’ forever; he healed faster by the day. And you could not fake sickness; your health has always been top notch.
Noticing you were shaking completely, you let go of the utensils before you cut yourself and walked back to the bedroom.
He was there already. His back turned to you. He was naked up the waist and the scars on his back — old scars, not the fresh wounds that were about to mark him for good — made you bit your lip.
You stood there for a good couple of minutes, unsure of what to do.
When he turned to face you, you forgot how to breathe.
Clearing your throat, you walked to the wardrobe and retrieved the datapad.
You were not sure you should do that — for the maker, you were not even sure you did the best by saving him! —, but you knew you had to make him trust you somehow.
And at the moment, you could not come up with better solution.
You walked to him and slowly reached out, offering the datapad. He did not take it immediately and no word left his lips, but his expression made it all clear he wanted to know what that was.
You wetted your lips.
“I found it in this newest attack…” You looked at his eyes, he was staring at you rather intensely. This time you touched him out of your own volition. You drew his hand into yours and placed the datapad between his fingertips. It was a dangerous bet, this one you were betting on. He could read whatever files he would find there and only the maker could know what more. But you had to try. “I-I… It belonged to the First Order.” His eyes went cold at your words. “And I think it’s time for you to have it.”

A/N -  Chapter 3 - Hot & Cold will be updated as soon as possible. Next week I’ll be focusing on updating chapter 20 on AO3, but I think I can manage to post it here as well xD It’s been fun rereading this story. Besides fixing the mistakes, it also helps me a lot to prepare for what’s come and I can only hope you will like what’s to come. I think that’s all and I hope you like it xD

Birth of Velocity
(( OOC: so I'm gonna do a little preface to this whole self-para thing. Caus I don't know all the potential trigger warnings I should include, this is kind of the warning before the full thing.
Plus I wanted to tag people in CCPD and Team Flash so that those in the CCPD, if they want to do an investigation into Hana's place while she is missing they can get details in this.
Team Flash people will be tagged because of the end of the story. Also because this whole thing kind of effects them. I will probably also tag Main just so the admins can make sure not to miss the story.
Also Hana has been missing since December 3rd (since I said it was a week til Barry and Iris' wedding which was on the 9th) and I figured Hana might show back up either on the 19th or potentially later but still within December.
Also also for the Admins I decided to change the potential speedster name for Hana. Slipstream sounded weird and clunky the longer I thought about it. So title gives the new name!
CCPD: @detectivechristiansingh , @detectivexspivot , @struckbylightningflash
Team Flash: @viberamon , @speedsterxs , @lightningtotem , @elcngation
Main: @centralcitysfinest-rp
Hopefully that is everyone that needs to be tagged. If I missed someone let me know and I'll fix it! Enjoy!))
Hana sat at her desk and let out a soft sigh as she looked at the invitation before her. Barry Allen and Iris West Wedding. She was happy for the Forensics Scientist, but part of her felt awkward since she didn't really know her co-worker well enough to be invited to his wedding.
Running a hand though her hair she figured she would RSVP to the event, even easier to hand it over since the Forensics Lab was just a short walk away. Taking the invite to Barry's office she noticed he wasn't there.
"Must of gone home early." She said to herself as she placed the RSVP on his desk. Hana knew she would have to go get some fancy clothes, but she still had plenty of time, the wedding wasn't for another week or so.
Heading back downstairs to her desk she had noticed Joe missing as well. She had chalked it up to him helping Barry, or Iris get ready for the wedding. Taking a seat she looked at her case before her.
Missing people from the mall, and unlike those that had died, these were humans. They had no powers yet they still went missing. It was odd, but she had worked missing persons cases before.
Looking over the case a few more seconds she closed it. She wasn't going to get any answers looking at what little info they had. Storing the case in her desk she made her to the Captain's office to let him know she talked with him a bit before heading home.
Once she was home she, Hana ran a hand through her hair before heading to kitchen she opened the fridge and grabbed a beer. "Home sweet home." She muttered to herself as she popped the bottle cap off.
Taking a seat on her sofa she turned on the news, but quickly changed it from Channel 52. After she finished her drink she went to take a shower. Letting the warm water rush over her body Hana heard the sound of breaking glass.
Her mind started to race, but she calmly got out of the shower grabbing a towel. Hana left the water running. Walking over to her bed she reached behind the nightstand to pull out a hand gun.
Checking her house, she noticed a baseball sitting on her kitchen floor with broken glass. Letting out a sigh, she walked back to the bathroom to turn off the shower. After drying off and getting dressed she put the gun back where it belonged.
Grabbing the baseball, she headed to her neighbor's house. After talking with them for a while, she headed back to clean up the broken glass. Once it was cleaned up she headed to her bedroom.
On her wall was a copy of a case file from Coast City Police Department. The center of her web of the casefile was a picture of her father. Taking a look over the information on the wall, her lips pulled to the side. The information was getting jumbled with her current case. She needed sleep.
The next morning Hana looked over at her phone. The display read 5:45 AM. Early, but she was used to it. Getting up she got dressed to go jogging.
As she looked through her closet she noticed her surfing suit. "Why did I bring you to Central?" She questioned as she looked at it. Pushing it aside, she grabbed the jogging outfit.
This time she had hoped she wouldn't run into a criminal like she had a while back when she ran into Snart, or at least a version of Snart. Looking at the time she let out a sigh. 6:05 AM. She was running behind on her usual schedule.
Putting in her earbuds she turned on her running mix, which amounted to the sounds of the ocean. It helped calm her and helped her think things through. There was plenty on her mind she needed to think through.
Setting out on her route, Hana let her mind wander through everything going on. As she jogged her mind thought of everything that had been going on since she moved to Central City. The Revelation of Flashpoint, Metas, The Flash, the Attack on Central City Mall, Missing people. It was all so much.
Pre-Flashpoint. Her mind focused on that. A timeline that no longer exsisted. A time when her father lived and she was a meta. Not only a meta, but a superhero named Snapshot.
Her focus was ripped from the sounds of the ocean, of a timeline long since past, of a hero that didn't exist. Looking at who she bumped into, she looked at the man. He looked familiar, but she couldn't place it.
The man bothered her and she pulled out her cellphone to get ready to call the cops. She heard a scream and she looked over at the direction. It was just a few kids playing.
Lowering her phone she had forgotten about the man behind her. Taking a step forward her mind snapped back to the man she bumped into. Of course she couldn't get one jog without bumping into a criminal.
Turning around Hana found that she had more than Norvok to deal with. She didn't get to far before metal clasped around her mouth and her phone shattered by a metal fragment. Amunet Black. The only meta bold enough to kidnap someone in broad daylight.
Hana couldn't move, at least not without risk of getting killed. Her vision started to blur, the world felt out of synch. The last thing she could focus on was Amunet, at least until everything went dark.
When she finally woke up she was in a concrete room. At least she woke up in a bed, but she noticed her shoes were missing. "Well great." She commented. Looking around she didn't see much.
A single door, a light, the bed she woke up on, a toilet, a swirling symbol painted on the wall and no windows. She had seen solitary rooms in prisions that were homier than the room she was in. Getting up she walked around the room.
A camera in the corner. "Good. No privacy." She said as she saw the camera. Rubbing her temples she knew one simple truth that it had to be at least the same day. "Who the hell are you?" She asked looking at the camera.
Pacing back and forth for a bit she sat back down on the bed. Eventually a slat opened in the door and a tray of food slid in. Looking at it she was weary of it. "You really expect me to eat that after you drugged me already?" She asked.
"Why am I talking? No one is gonna respond." Hana said to herself. It wasn't long before her stomach growled. She cursed to herself about not having eaten before her run. She was weary of the food, but she needed to eat.
Cautiously making her way over to the food tray, Hana inspected it. Finger foods. Who ever gave her the food wasn't going to risk her storing away a utensil, even the tray was made of paper.
"Great. You might as well just get me Big Belly Burger if you're gonna be cheap." She said. Though she knew it was useless. Hana could hear muffled talking just outside her door, but she couldn't make out what was being said.
For now she had to survive. She needed to set up a routine to track time. She couldn't lose track of it otherwise she would lose sense of how long she had been missing.
After she had eaten she looked around, her eyes once again settled on the camera. It was too high up for her to mess with, and her bed was bolted to the ground. Letting out a sigh she sat back down on the bed.
It was easy for her to fall into a routine, each day she spent exercising. Each day she was served three meals, at night they dimmed the lights. Despite her best to keep track of how long she was missing, Hana was slowly losing track of time.
As she was doing situps, the door started to unlock. Standing up she watched as the door swing open. Right in front of her was a scientist with two guards behind her. "You've been keeping in shape." The woman said.
"It passes the time." Hana said as she took stock of the guards. "So you clearly kidnapped me for a reason." She added.
The scientist gave a soft chuckle. "Kidnapping is such a terrible word. We needed test subjects and you're the perfect specimen." The scientist said.
"You had Amunet Black kidnap me, locked me in this room and now you want to say that I'm what.. a test subject?" Hana asked. "You can go fuck yourself if you think I'm a willing test subject." She added.
"If I thought you were a willing subject then I wouldn't have these guards. We know that you have the potential to be very rebellious." The scientist said. "However it is your turn finally, so come along. I'd hate to have these two drag you out." She said turning to walk away.
Hana stayed where she was. "Ugh hit her with the Sonic blasters." The scientist said. The two guards raised their guns at her. Hana fell to the ground covering her ears.
"That's enough." The scientist said. The sound faded, but the ringing still filled her ears. The two guards walked over and dragged her away from her cell. The world was out of focus, she couldn't make out anything that was being said, or where she was being taken.
By the time her vision focused she was strapped to a table. Above her was a massive machine, a heart monitor beeped next to her. "Where ..." She barely managed to say. Hana had noticed that there was no one around.
The machine above her sprung to life. The orb end gathered electricity that danced around it. As she watched the electricity, Hana recognized it. It was the same as when the Flash ran.
"How did...." She tried to speak. Hana was cut off by the bolt of lighting that struck her. Her scream of pain was muffled by the lightning. As the bolt dissipated, the sound of the heart monitor grew louder.
Beeping. Beeping faster. Then a rush of scientist trying to stop her from dying, but Hana didn't feel like she was dying. Sure her whole body felt like it was on fire, but things seemed to of slowed down. Or had they?
"She is crashing! We need to stabilize her right now damn it!" One scientist shouted. Everything started to fade again. The heart monitor beeped faster and faster til a flat line was heard.
When Hana had woken up, she was in an alleyway, her body hurt like hell. How did she end up where she was. "Ugh ..." She groaned. Trying to stand up was a bad idea as she fell back to her knees.
"Hey you okay?" Someone asked her. Looking up she rubbed her forehead. "Uhm. Yeah. Just to much to drink last night." She lied.
The person had moved on with their day. Hana saw a nearby thrown away paper. She had been gone for some time, she had missed the wedding, she had missed worked. As she tried to read the paper she felt it shaking.
Looking at her hands she noticed it vibrating at a fast pace. "What the?" She asked curiously. She gripped her wrist trying to stop it. "No no no. Please stop." She said letting out an exhale trying to calm herself.
"Think Hana...." She said to herself. "Where can I go? Work wouldn't understand. The Flash. I need the Flash." She said aloud. Closing her eyes she tried to think of where he might be. S.T.A.R. Labs popped to mind. Taking a step forward, her body reacted on its own.
In an instant she was in the cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs. Though it was a less than graceful entrance. She had practically tripped as she tried to stop. Looking around she saw no signs of anyone being there. The only good thing was the Flash suit before her.
Standing up, she brushed off her damaged jogging outfit. She was surprised it hadn't been burned to a crisp when the lightning hit her. Looking down she noticed her shoes had been returned. "Where are you Flash?" She asked herself as she felt her hand vibrating again.

IMPORTANT OOC ANNOUNCEMENT!! (warning its kinda long oops)
Hello everyone! Toby here, the blog runner and artist behind it all. Sorry to post another OOC thing, but this i think it’s really important i do this because i REALLY wanna get back into the swing of having sonic, amy, and shadow answer shit but there’s something i need to get out of the way first. TLDR: i’m making some retcons for some stuff so i can get this blog back on track, and also gonna clean my inbox out so i update more regularly
MORE UNDER THE CUT!!
and well, seeing as there is literally over a thousand of you following this blog now... i think i probably shouldn’t leave the audience hanging anymore XD
Tumblr media
yeah... i just noticed that. wow. thank you so much you guys! it really means a lot to me that you all liked my throw away ask blog for these three dorks ;w;
I know i probably sound like a broken record at this point, but i wanted to once again apologize for all the inactivity. i’ve been... busy with other things like irl stuff, drawing things for myself and working on some biiiig projects so my art motivation has been other places. however, those are not the only reasons i’ve been on standby. i have a bit of a confession to make, and i’m gonna need y’all to hear me out on this...
i’m kinda stuck?
see, regarding the last couple updates i made with this blog (regarding sonic and amy’s situation), i kinda feel like i ran myself into a corner in a way. originally, i saw this as an opportunity to throw in some nice character development for amy and sonic’s friendship since that kinda stuff is my ultimate jam, and i wanted to flex my amy headcanon’s too. i’ve seen other ask blogs do stuff like that before and thought it would be a fun thing to try out since this is well, kinda my first time running a successful ask blog O.O
but it didn’t really occur to me until after i posted the answered ask that while i may love that kind of stuff, it’s not really...the theme i previously established for this blog? this blog is mostly a parody ask blog for silly doodles, memes, cute asks, and satire humor with a little bit of ambiguous shipping thrown into the mix (its up to the viewer’s interpretation really)
the characters on this ask blog having drama and emotional flair ups and essentially things being taken seriously like the last couple updates isn’t really what i had envisioned for this blog when i started it, and now that i’ve laid out this situation for amy and sonic... i feel like i’ve strayed away from what the big picture is. plus, it also ended up with shadow being a bit of a third wheel which is what i dont want, either. all characters on this ask blog are important and what make their interactions so fun.
i’ve been debating on if i wanted to just continue on with this well...story that’s kinda snowballed and let it sort itself out, but the more i think about it the more unmotivated i become because honestly speaking, i don’t really have the time or energy to keep a consistent plot moving for a blog like this. ^^; (another reason why this was originally just a parody blog)
and well... i’ve come to the conclusion that if i wanna continue this blog the way i wanna continue it, then i’m gonna have to do some unfortunate retconning. now this isn’t because i dislike sonic and amy having character development on their friendship (because chaos knows i love it), i just don’t feel the theme that post has to it fits here on this blog’s overall vibe. it just doesn’t work here.   and i’m really sorry if that post was what you came here for DX i promise it was never my intention to trick anyone into thinking this blog was something else...
that being said, i’m gonna take the last two posts down. i’m sorry to say... but i want this blog to be an overall place of humor and fun and i want the theme to stay as consistent as i can make it. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean the sonic and amy post will be no longer available to view! i plan to reupload it to my art blog so it can be its OWN self contained little thing, because personally i think its short and sweet enough in it’s own right to exist as its own little comic, i guess :O plus, it would be a little awkward to add shadow in with the ending i gave it...
sorry about this guys ^^; i hope you can understand, this blog has been a learning experience for me and well, we all make mistakes sometimes. even if some people don’t perceive them as real mistakes... i have a better understanding of how i want to portray sonic, amy and shadow on this blog now. i think that is what’s important :O  if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message me through instant messenger! i’d rather not talk about it through asks since that is more for answering questions for sonic/amy/shadow :O if you do send me an ask about it... i’ll probably delete it. sorry ^^; thats just gonna be the way it is (for now), because i really wanna cut back on the OOC posts.
SPEAKING OF THE INBOX!
i have a large pile-up of asks sitting in there that ugh... realistically i’ll never be able to get to them all. i’m sorry to say >.< i just dont have the time or energy to do so, and at this point i just feel really disorganized with how many there are. (there are still some left over from when i first started this blog MONTHS ago that i felt too guilty to just delete...)
so i think, what i’m gonna do is i’m gonna do a complete inbox sweep. i’m gonna clear out all the asks and get ready to re-open the inbox again!  i’m sorry if your question never got answered DX i’m doing the best i can and i can only really pick the asks that give me the most creative inspiration to answer. i wanna entertain and be funny but if i can’t think of anything to work with on your ask, i promise it’s never your fault! i just couldn’t think of anything and ended up skipping over it because there’s...a lot to pick from.
i’ll make another post once i’m ready to open the inbox again. until then, thank you so much for reading this and understanding, and again HUGE thanks for 1,000 followers! WOW!
be sure to visit my art blog for the sonic and amy comic because i’ll be posting it there very soon! as for opening the inbox again, i will for sure do so very soon! i might even be able to do some asks sometime this week or leading into next weekend, we will see ^^;
hope you all are having a nice day! thanks again for reading! (sorry its so long ;o; )

Bringing back an oldie that is pure comedic gold. I never actually shared the review here because it’s massive but you know what? I think some of you would appreciate it anyway! Random reviewer does get points for using his actual account and not dropping this pile of shit in my inbox anonymously. That I can respect, and for the sake of protecting his FF identity, his name is blocked out.
And for those who don’t want to click to embiggen:
“Another fiction (recommended by someone) concerning Sasuke and Sakura, and yet another grave disappointment. You have used Rinnegan Sasuke and adopted a monumentally absurd logic of him actually having trouble evading her during their training session? You cannot be serious! Why do all people infatuated with Sakura (or Hinata) and her non-canon “oh-so-awesome” speed (and her nonexistent and laughably poor CQC prowess) put her on such a high pedestal? It just baffles me. That is practically non-canon to the point of being grossly and obscenely OOC. Hebi Sasuke will cut her war-arc and Gaiden self down into confetti, even if he stands at a great distance from her (make it more than a kilometer, if you must), before she even has a chance to think, let alone blink. That is how fast Sasuke is. The guy was dodging consecutive Clay-based C2 (C4 as well) blasts that are well above hyper-sonic speed … in succession like it was nothing. The only time he got hit was when he let Deidara hit him to lure him into a trap. As for Kenjutsu, then people still misread that Bee battle and use the “underestimating thing” so freely without even paying attention to the manga (your S-Class mission took such a liberty there that it’s ludicrous)? Where Sasuke (despite being badly injured; as confirmed by Jugo and himself), was still faster than Bee to throw a sword into his other hand and hit himself with a Chidori before Bee even made a single stab; a fact confirmed by Bee himself (that the wounds were not fatal as he used Raiton to make them non-fatal)? Or Bee confirming and equating an injured man’s reflex action speed with Fourth Raikage in his Raiton cloak without the second “Bijuu chakra level” augmentation as Karin comments? A (Ae) guy who has been confirmed to be much faster than Minato when he uses Raiton armor (without “Bijuu chakra level” augmentation) as stated by Shee in the Viz translation of the manga? Or Bee admitting that Sasuke was the toughest opponent he ever took on? Where are you getting this from anyway? Who does a Rinnegan user have to underestimate? Who has this luxury? Forget that, how many opponents Sasuke took down during his training with Orochimaru? It led him to comment that he (when he was Sasuke’s age) was a lesser genius? Or Mifune (the guy with the fastest sword draw) commenting on Sasuke’s speed with the sword? Or Sasuke taking down several samurais as if they were cow-fodder; who were shown fight toe to toe Karui and Omoi (the same people who handed Sakura’s posterior to her in a second)? And she was using her Kunai and deflecting his attacks … just like that? It just bamboozles me … Then you showed that she deflected his Shurikens like it was nothing? Yes, like Orochimaru being lured into a trap by a twelve-year-old Sasuke did, right? Even he couldn’t do that. And that was when Sasuke was just a child. Or Danzo dying to one despite possessing about a dozen Sharingans? Or Deidara getting pinned by Fuma Shurikens despite being in air and throwing bombs at Sasuke? I mean, he STILL couldn’t evade them! Or Itachi, who could only match his prowess when he’s an expert in this as well? But Sakura is suddenly an expert in Shuriken-Jutsu; at Itachi’s level? Heck, he got his brother’s headband when he just woke up from a Tsukuyomi, stretched to 48 hours by Itachi and he was only eight years old then! By God! Should I go on? And “tossed” sounds like such an odd choice of words for Shurikens. Is he playing ball with her? Seems like it, as he left that one-of-a-kind dexterity and intelligence home when he sparred with the uber-talented Queen of ALL Ninjutsu (I will get to this point later), Kenjutsu, Shurikenjutsu etc. you name it! She’s so damned talented! And you are not even talking about these versions of Sasuke. You are talking about Rinnegan Sasuke; a guy who was much faster than Kinshiki (both in speed and in reflex action) and took his horn out and destroyed his created-swords, how many times? The only thing that threw him back was the force of the blows. Christ Almighty … he’s having difficulty with … Sakura?! Heck, the guy was much faster than Naruto (he has always been) in the movie. This is what irks me to no end about these Sakura-centric (or even Hinata-centric) fictions. Sakura’s status is upped to a ridiculous degree and Sasuke is dumbed down (a prodigy, might I add; Shikamaru also looked up to him by his own admission) to match Sakura’s level to such a degree that he becomes a painstakingly laughable, blubbering, hyper-romantic jackass who just … happens to be in love. Why? No reason. This fiction is no different. Why is Sasuke getting jealous of her sleeping around? No reason. He just is. When Sasuke in canon manga has always been an adherent of ideals and never a pointless, salivating chaser of romance and women. Which would explain why he only had sex with Sakura ONCE in over a decade. And that is canon-manga. Once he gave that to Sakura, he left her and never looked back. When he came back in the movie, it ends on a note of him standing away from her and looking off into the distance. In Gaiden, when she leaned in to kiss, he threw her an odd look and high-tailed out of her. Which version of Sasuke does this fandom keep writing? I don’t get. Really, I don’t. Then we have the issue of Sasuke crying in her arms and having nightmares, when he never did in the manga. Which portion of manga is this where he cried in her arms, or anyone’s arms, for reassurances or hurt/comfort nonsense when he isn’t even a child here? The only time that happened was when he fell down and was fainting with no control over his body after a lethal bite from Orochimaru (a bite that is only survived by one in TEN people). The kid was twelve then. The whole premise of your fiction is based on the sheer bastardization of his character. You have practically butchered it … and in second chapter, might I add. The very beginning! Your story goes on in a typical fashion, claiming scattered cliches of romances whilst not giving much value to what the manga actually exhibits. I have no issues with your genres. It’s your treatment that is bothersome. That admittance of “I didn’t listen to you” before Sakura about that criminal was literally the last straw; forget how absurd and unreal a Rinnegan user’s bloodied form actually was (I don’t even want to touch it, as it’ll open yet another can of nasty worms). It was another grave error of making Sasuke act like a complete fool before a ninja infinitely inferior than him on every front that it’s practically impossible to take this fiction seriously. When has he ever done that? Even after discarding Konoha’s putrid Nationalism, the only words he said to Kakashi were, “yeah, sorry.” Then we have the preachy tone of your fiction (till the sixth chapter anyway), where you define the clear tones of “hedunwrong” and go off with lengthy and highly hilarious comebacks from her and Naruto on putting Sasuke down. Disguising these admonishing tones with back and forth moods that is just off-putting. Give me a break! I cannot believe you are actually serious with this. Naruto would never admonish Sasuke or treat him badly (even mildly). The guy hyperventilated, let Karui sink his face in, was willing to commit suicide over Sasuke for crying out loud. He never went down this shady road. Heck, the guy repeatedly whined in several monologues that, “why don’t you come home, Sasuke?” and, “I understand how you feet” etc. The instance that made me drop this story was Sasuke sharing his … clan’s rite with Sakura. What on earth? You do realize that it requires “potent” Uchiha chakra to perform it, and that it has never, and I mean NEVER, been shared with or copied by anyone outside the clan? No one has managed it? Not even Kakashi. Why? Because if you had ever paid attention to the manga, then you would have realized that Uchiha chakra’s potency is comparable to the Bijuus (high-tier Uchihas). It is mentioned by Kurama and talked about several times in the manga. It is unmatched in the manga. Quite literally, given that Indra’s line directly inherited the Sage’s “strong Chakra” genes, Ashura never did. Now, one can let you off on the whole Sage inheritance as this was completed in 2014, but the rest still holds. The ground literally tears up and breaks apart when this technique is used when it happens with no other Katon tech from people other than the Uchiha. Sasuke broke apart a large stone wall with Dragon Jutsu when he launched it at the sky. How on earth can Sakura learn it … whose chakra is literally not even in a pathetic basket by comparison in regards to potency? I don’t care if it was just a knock-off version of it, how can she? When no one has … not even the Sarutobi clan who also happen to be experts in Katon Jutsus? Christ on a crutch, is all this even necessary? This out of character, sloppy take on a superman Sakura with such an “ah-sum” potent chakra, “ah-mahzing, theygoblindman” speed that gives Sasuke trouble (I gotta laugh at this), “es-pahshal” intelligence (when she’s canonically far below Sasuke, and I mean FAR below him) that allows her the accomplishment of such impossible feats? Her Chakra Control (CC)? You do realize that she would require CC at Sasuke’s level to even think about producing half the effects of the Uchiha tech as she lacks the chakra? Sure, her CC is pretty good. Excellent even. It’s above Naruto’s, as all he does is handle great volumes of chakra; the Bijuu literally hand over kneaded chakra to him. But at Sasuke’s level? The guy’s CC is at the Sage of the six paths level. Yes, this is manga fact, stated by Kurama itself to Naruto when he made a Pseudo-Mezo out of his Perfect Susanoo and poured perfectly controlled and kneaded Bijuu Chakra within it! Now, how can she produce such a control to even accomplish this given that three ingredients to produce this are missing; CC at Sasuke’s level or slightly below
CONTD … him, Chakra potency and distinct bloodline attributes? Apparently, it is of little issue as canon plot be damned! Honestly, this Sakura is such a Mary-Sue, capable of feats that must make her canon self dizzy and mad with envy. That’s the problem with romantic fandom here (NH as well, along with Hinata-Centric fics), they have little to no understanding of the manga. It doesn’t even seem like they have read it beyond the bubbles, contorted to suit their self-created romantic perspectives or fanciful notions of God characters and Naruto is the worst offender there, where he’s (hilariously) given a Sharingan and made to act like Sasuke, when that fandom hates the latter’s guts! All you have done here is assimilate several cliches and tropes to create a narrative that is built on a flimsy and improper footing. People do that with Uchiha brothers all the time. Make them chase like silly, idiotic men in the grip of a concept that is not even remotely touched upon in the manga. Not even close. Making them seem like these inconsequential, trivial caricatures that litter ever Samantha’s and Martha’s romance novels … and it’s quite painful to trudge through it. And that is not all, you have several pacing issues as well. There are abrupt breaks between scenes when they can be joined to the next one as the mood remains the same. Improper use of conjunction or it’s missing altogether. Dragged on scenes where pointless romantic mood is given priority rather than realistic characterization, which should be used to build a mood. That Sakura confession was the lowest point in this fiction till the sixth chapter bar Sakura’s “es-phashal” status as a ninja. Granted, we all make mistakes. Heck, I make them all the time and cannot seem to pinpoint them until after a month or so. But this is Beta-Read! How could your Beta not see these errors in genre and plot pacing in general, along with the over-use of OOC-ness to make this work AT ALL COSTS? I suppose fictions like “Aves of Maria” are a rarity, where the author knows they are dealing with a character that is not an exhibitionist of bleeding romance and is reserved and cold on such front. There, it was put under the carefully thick garb of lust. But, this is Naruto fandom and that was DeathNote fandom. That aside, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. You have quite a lot of positives as well even if the narrative tone is very troublesome. Your dialogues are clean and have a tinge of realism in them. The flow is (mostly) maintained and there is a good amount of consistency between the scenes. That is, perhaps, the most solid part of your story. You tend to remain consistent with the whole thing (good or bad). It tends to create a good flow that is hard to accomplish. As a final word, you have a solid footing as a writer. If you stop using tropes and cliches (like you have done here), then you can accomplish a lot. I may have sounded harsh, but I am a blunt individual. And I would never have reviewed it had someone not requested me to, to be honest. Anyhow, good luck on your future endeavours. I wish you all the best.”
I wish you all the best too, dear. *kisses*

Fic Rec Day
Here are my favorite fanfic’s found online. :)
Codename: Kids Next Door
Broken
This story about Father finding out he has a biological daughter is SO sweet! Sasha is a well rounded OC and Father isn’t OOC.
Finding Happiness
This 3/4 fic is everything you could ask for in a story! It has angst, romance, humor and really cool moments! DEFINITELY give it a read if you like the 3/4 pairing!
Doctor Who
Against All We Know
Kate Stewart/Rani is a very strange pairing, but the author really makes it work! There’s some angst and sexual references mixed in so be warned.
Alone
A story told from the 1st person POV of a Dalek? That’s ridiculous! Yes it is, but it works. It really, really works! This is a novelization of the Series 1 episode “Dalek” and it’s really awesome and sad!
Bitter Dancer
Smutty and hot. ;)
The Chronicles of Impossibility series
I really enjoy this series, despite the cursing, sexual references and mature themes. The angst is quite heartbreaking, but very well written. Definitely give it a read if you like Whouffaldi, Twelve/River and Clara/River as the three of them are in a relationship together!
Guardians of the Universe series
This seven story epic that is far from finished is one of the most intricate, detailed, coherent and entertaining series I’ve EVER read! It features Rose as the protagonist and she’s a relationship with Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve. Some people might not like that, though. So be warned.
In Another Life
Misffle AU’s. ‘nuff said.
My Clara
Hasn’t been updated in a while, but the three chapters that are there really make the Misffle relationship work and it’s very realistic.
Mystery Girl - One Moment - She’s Back
These stories are REALLY good! I love the villains, the tension, the mystery (see what I did there) and the OC’s!
Small Bump
Absolutely heartbreaking. You will cry.
The One Who Returns
Very bittersweet and a good explanation for Twelve’s and Missy’s last scene in “The Witch’s Familiar”.
This is Yesterday
This is SUCH a good story! It wraps up some unanswered questions from the show (i.e. Rassilon and the Hybrid), brings up good plot lines and conflicts and the characters are REALLY well handled!
Travels in the TARDIS series
I really enjoyed this Osgood and Missy series with some Clara, Danny and Twelve mixed in. There’s romance (with a sex scene in “Blue Christmas”, so be warned), angst, humor and tension. Very good read.
When We Travel Book 1 and Book 2
This story isn’t perfect, with formatting and pacing issues that somewhat runs out of ideas sometimes. That being said, Whouffaldi fans should still love it! Though it hasn’t been updated in a while.
Where’s Poppet?
Very sad. Also contains spoilers for “Face the Raven”.
Harvest Moon
Dove’s Nocturne
Hasn’t been updated in a while, but it’s very tense and kind of scary... for Harvest Moon anyways.
Dying by the dream
Sad story revolving around Celia’s unrequited love for Jack.
Frostbitten Flower
Lovely, angsty and bittersweet story revolving around Marlin and Celia, as well as her relationship with the deceased Jack.
Hidden Greed, Hidden Grief
Lovely story about selfishness. That sounds weird, but just read it and you’ll understand.
Instant Message
Very cute story involving Chelsea and Vaughn.
Love and Hate - Honesty and Deceit
I LOVE the way the author makes the romance, angst, tension and humor work in the first story and as for it’s sequel, Chelsea and Vaughn have to deal with murderer that’s set her eyes on them!
Loveless: Jack’s and Celia’s story
Kind of fast paced, but still very sweet and has a good plot.
Maybe Mummy Misses You
Very sad.
Necessary
Love this Marlin/Celia oneshot.
Perfect
Crazy oneshot and it makes you think.
Under a Moonlit Sky
Hasn’t been updated in a while, but it’s an AWESOME story!
Legend of Zelda
30 Tales of Fate
Very cute.
A Glass of Port
A “what if” scenario involving WW Link and Ganondorf at the beginning of the game. Shame it was never continued.
A Love Story
One of the best ZeLink stories out there.
Cry for Hyrule
Very good Wind Waker story that deviates from the game’s plot in a good way and is very enjoyable.
Forgotten Memories - Twilight Sunrise
Love these Ilia/Link stories. Twilight Sunrise hasn’t been updated for a while though.
Fortitude
Another “one of the best” ZeLink stories out there.
Kasuto’s Redemption
Still reading it, but I’m very much enjoying myself! Set in the TP verse.
Matchmakers
Cute story.
More than it Seems
Tense, romantic and sad. Trigger warnings for abuse.
Remember Me As A Time Of Day
LGBT represented in ST Zelda and Tetra. And it’s good!
Running to You
Haven’t properly read this one yet, but what I have read is good!
The Crimson Loftwing
Hasn’t been updated in a while, but this story is SO good! It’s fluffy, sad, angsty and just all around awesome!
The Infinite Wisdom of Wives
Awesome and sweet ZeLink story.
Til the Sun Grows Cold and the Stars Grow Old
Another ZeLink story that’s canon compliant with TP and the rest of the Zelda verse.
To Take Chances
Another good ZeLink story.
Transcendence - Little Princess
Another good ZeLink story. Some mature scenes, references and trigger warnings for stillborn birth.
Zelda: Winds of a New Beginning - Zelda: Winds of a New Darkness
These stories are SOOOO good! They’re incredibly well though out, have a little bit of everything and are just all around AWESOME!
Mario
A Twilight Tale
Very bittersweet and ties into the game nicely.
Better Off Alone - Better Off Alone II: Hope and Faith
I LOVE these stories! Koops/Vivian seems like a strange pairing, but the author REALLY makes it work! Trigger warnings for abuse.
Change of Heart
I’m not really sure if I ship Bowser/Peach, but this story REALLY made me want to!
Paper Mario: The Temple of the Sun
This story perfectly plays out like an actual Paper Mario game, with the vibrant settings, awesome characters, the twists and turns and the ending was so beautiful and satisfying.
Paper Mario X - Paper Mario X 2 - Paper Luigi X - Super Paper Mario X
This crossover series with Paper Mario, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Sonic, Kirby and some others is incredibly well done and still keeps true to the games.
Naruto
Chipped Mask
Some people might not like this self-insert with an OC that “fixes” everything, but I still enjoyed it.
In The Blood
This over 100 chapter epic is freaking awesome! The OC’s and characters have amazing depth, there’s plot twists like you wouldn’t believe and everything’s kept quite true to canon! Trigger warning for abuse.
Little Mouse
Hasn’t been updated for a while but this NaruHina & Gaara/Hinata story is really well written; especially Gaara who isn’t a good guy here.
The Mating Frenzy
Hilarious. Though the humor’s inappropriate.
New Blood - Old Souls
Love these stories. Everything’s SO well written; the characters, the plot and everything else.
Yet again - Take Two Round Two
These stories ROCK! You might not like the “over powered” OC’s involved but it’s really well done here!
Transformers
Fallout - Fallout: Apocalypse
The angst, humor, fluff, romance and OC’s are really well balanced in these stories.
Xenosaga
Agas One X: Redefined
Hasn’t been updated in a while but this is a great High School AU and the humor is great.
Other
A Very Muppets Mystery
LOVED this story! If you like mystery and the Muppets, definitely check it out,
Freddy’s Girl
The pacing and formatting is terrible, but it’s incredibly entertaining!
Authors
Aiselne Phoenix Nocturnus
Their Xenosaga stories are very emotional and beautiful.
Bonus Parts
I really enjoy how this author ships Sally Sparrow and Larry Nightingale and writes them very well!
firefly
His Naruto stories rule!
Hollow Shadow Wolf
Wolfie here writes amazingly well and their Misffle stories are very good as well!
Kiara32
Her three Lion King stories are REALLY well written! The OC’s, the plots, the conflicts, the angst, the humor, the tension and the romance just work together so well!
Negaduck
Love this author’s take on the Muppet Show and the Fraggles.
Ninja Sheik
Big Anko/Orochimaru fan that writes really well! Warnings for some smut.
optimus prime 007
She writes SO well! I especially enjoy her Kaceystar stories.
The Saddleman
He’s a big Whouffaldi shipper and I find his writing so entertaining, whether it’s angsty, humorous or sweet.
There you go! I’ll probably update this later, but that’s basically the gist of it. Enjoy. :)

Huh, interesting. He does also say that things could very easily change "10 issues from now," and that video is from 3 years ago, so it may not reflect Sonic Team's current vision. Also from that clip, it sounds like the games have more freedom to change the status quo of the characters than a licensed comic adaptation, and any changes would have to be reflected in the comics. Sega and Sonic Team are also wildly inconsistent (as you pointed out,) which I imagine would be annoying for any writer.
3 years ago was 2019, not that long ago, especially since the series was almost dormant from 2017 to 2022 - not much to change there
Yeah, he did say that the comics are subjected to the games' canon. And, well, that's the bare minimum :P IDW didn't start as a complete spinoff like Boom, it was meant to continue from Forces, so yes it was born almost as a "temporary" canon until the next game dropped. The moment it was decided IDW was set in the games' canon, Flynn had to play by the games' rules.
The thing is that I can't really comment on Flynn saying "oh we have to respect the game's whims" because IDW only existed in a context of no games so far. From 2018 until today, we only got Team Sonic Racing (which was a fairly minor game with a simple story and clearly had no impact on IDW), Sonic Colors Ultimate (a remake) and Sonic Origins (a collection). Frontiers will be the first major game since Forces... but it will still be influenced by Flynn, so I seriously doubt that something would happen that will force him to change the IDW canon. My point is... will we ever see if Flynn will really stay by his words? ALso because, in a far more recent podcast, he said "this is how Sonic is, by SEGA, and this is me basically spelling it out for anyone who hasn't quite figured it out by this point", and well, he sounds very confident that he's writing the original Sonic, not just an interpretation that might change eventually.
Sonic Team are also wildly inconsistent (as you pointed out,) which I imagine would be annoying for any writer.
Sonic might change from writer to writer, like going from being hyperactive in ShTH to being emotionless in '06 (that portrayal is indefensible, but I don't know where bad writing ends and rushed development begins) but there are some core concepts that have always been consistent and that make Sonic recognizeable as Sonic, from Sonic Adventure to Sonic Forces. If you're interested, there are at least two posts I can link that argument that IDW Sonic is extremely OOC once you get past his superficial traits. Let's just say that I very much do not agree with his assessment that IDW Sonic is SEGA Sonic, and it has nothing to do with Sonic Team :P
Flynn also apparently struggles to write Shadow, which is why he stopped including him (don't have proof of this though, if someone else has it I'd appreciate it!), which makes me wonder... is it really this hard to write Sonic characters? Especially for someone who is praised for working in the franchise for 15 years?

So what are your overall thoughts on Forces storywise? Positives and negatives? Where do you think the story ranks in the series?
Maybe it’ll be easier to just list positives and negatives (warning: long post):
Positives:
- Even by watching a low-quality stream of the Switch version, I can say the game looks gorgeous. It does suffer a bit from the Adventure 2 syndrome, where the art direction can bet too dull for you to appreciate the graphics, but some stages are breathtaking. Egg Gate in particular looks amazing.
- While the plot on its own doesn’t belong in this section, I appreciate the simple fact that they actually dared to break from the lighter and softer approach that’s been going on since 2010, and the fact that they remembered that the cast isn’t just made of Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Orbot and Cubot. The concept was awesome! The tone was perfect, serious but not depressing and too try-hard! There was some action! It’s a step in the right direction, and I hope people will criticize the plot for the right reasons and not because “lol sonic shouldn’t try to be edgy”.
- Shadow will be playable. Even if he’s at his core “Sonic with a OP Light Speed attack” this is very important.
- While at first I was annoyed at seeing old levels again, I’m actually happy with what they’ve done. They’re not just rehashes, they’re treated like actual dynamic environments. Green Hill is not just “hey remember this level”, it’s a place dear to Sonic that was ruined by Eggman. Chemical Plant is also ruined and repurposed as a space port, almost like a Sonic CD Bad Future. Only the Death Egg is pretty much the same, although I admit, the Classic level using the same gimmicks as the S3&K version was a nice touch that I forgave because it made sense in-universe.
- The dialogue! Aside from a couple of stupid lines, mostly by Sonic, there was no trace of childish, jarring humor, nobody was OOC or treated as simple comic reliefs, and the interactions between characters were genuine and believable. Some parts kinda reminded me of the Boom cartoon. “See, Infinite, now we het to know each other! So what’s your favorite color? Do you enjoy long, romantic walks on the beach? What’s the source of your powers? You can skip the first two questions if you like” “Maybe he’ll have more friends if he stopped talking about himself in the third person.” (maybe I just have a bad sense of humor idk :V)
- Eggman and Knuckles were perfect. We didn’t see them a lot, but their characterization was on point. Knuckles was just full of charisma and he radiated confidence, a far cry from the butt monkey he’s been since Sonic X. And Eggman was actually smart, with some clever ideas like having backup sources for the Phantom Ruby, rightfully chewing out Infinite for not killing Sonic, and… well, we didn’t see it, but I like the idea of him keeping Sonic alive in his cell just so he could see what happened to the world thanks to his absence (that’s perfect fanfic fuel). And Mike Pollock managed to sound badass in certain parts. “The sun will fall upon you. Boom! The end. Your pathetic lives… are over.”
- Speaking of Pollock, the voice acting was some of the best in the games this far. I can count on a single hand the times someone sounded fake or unconvincing (mostly Silver, sadly, and Sonic was a bit oscillating). I think I gushed about Liam O’ Brien enough, he clearly had so much fun with Infinite. I can’t wait to hear the Japanese version
- And finally I love Infinite way more than I should. His design, his voice (especially his voice
- I like that thing Infinite did in Capital City. You know, when he mind raped everyone in the city by conjuring those abominations of nature. That was a clever use of his powers.
- The last shot of the game, with the Resistance hideout shining under the sun’s light and a single flower at the center, with the instrumental version of the credits’ song in the background, is honestly moving. Even after the huge disappointment that was the ending, this part made me feel satisfied and like I accomplished something (and I didn’t even play myself). It reminds me of Wiosna from Katawa Shoujo, and if you played it you know how it feels to hear that music after finishing a route.
Neutral:
- The scrapping of lives. I’ve seen people complaining that it makes the game too easy, but
1) there’s still some punishment if you lose a life, just like in Unleashed the timer doesn’t reset and of course you lose all your Rings, so if you die you can kiss that S rank goodbye;
2) lives have been pointless since the introduction of save files. Let’s be honest, when was the last time you got a game over in a game that saved your progress? And what was the punishment for a game over? At worst you just have to restart the level you died in.
So while I’m not particularly happy, I’m not disappointed either and I welcome the change.
- The music. I put it here because it’s kind of a mixed bag, there are tracks that I hate with a passion and tracks that I can’t get enough of (and I’ve only heard a tiny fraction of the whole OST). So overall I would say it’s average-to-good.
I really wonder why they’re insisting of forcing Ohtani to compose whole soundtracks - the guy is seriously talented and I admire his work, but why can’t he be helped by someone else? I know Kenichi Tokoi and Naofumi Hataya also worked on the soundtrack, but afaik their roles are minimal.
- The Avatar himself. I’d enjoy the idea a lot more if 1) they talked, and 2) the characters stopped shilling them just a tiny bit, especially since everyone else was relegated to the background. Still, the concept of a muggle wanting to help the heroes is cool, as it goes against that sort of “elitism” in the Sonic series. And I just grew too attached to Gadget the Wolf :)
- The level design, the thing people trashed for months on end… it’s okay. Is it good as Generations’? Absolutely not. Is it bad? I don’t think so, because when I think “bad level design”, I think of Knuckles’ Chaotix and Sonic CD.
Forces is inoffensive in this regard. On one hand, it’s not as linear as it looked like, there are multiple paths and some nice platforming sections. On the other, the 3D parts are few, short and in general not that engaging, and yes, Classic Sonic’s stages are supported by too much automation because the physics engine can’t handle him apparently. In short, if you’re okay with shallow fun and you thought Colors was fine, then you’ll be okay with Forces. (and while we’re not supposed to judge the developers as people, considering the level designers were all newbies I’d say they did a good job)
Negatives:
- the fact that you can’t recollect your rings unless you’re playing as the hedgehog Avatar. That just flies against the very core of the Rings concept.
- The sheer lack of “show, don’t tell”. Most of this game is just told, in fact most part of the plot is told via walkie talkie convos. The majority of the cast is just there to comment and guide the characters during the levels, only Silver is shown actually doing something. The most offensive example is how Eggman conquering the world is “shown” by a simple text box (people are already speculating it’s another sign of troubled production). And we don’t even see that much of the conquered world, either, aside from City (no seriously that’s the name of the area).
- What happened to you, Tails? What happened to the boy who wanted to be more than Sonic’s sidekick? Why the mere sight of Chaos 0 sends you into a panic when you fought Chaos 4 before? Why thinking Sonic is dead makes you “lose it”, when the same thing happened twice already (or once, if you want to discard ‘06) and in both cases you were devastated but still managed to kick ass? Why are you just an exposition fairy? Who hates you that much in the writers’ team? :(
- THE. RUSHING. Oh my god I could rant for hours about how the game not only is too fast-paced, but outright misses chunkes. I already mentioned the text box part, but what about the part where Infinite sends Sonic and the Avatar into null space… and they get out of there in literally ten seconds? What about Fake!Chaos and Fake!Shadow being dispatched like that, without even the simples of boss fights? What about Silver, Shadow and Omega just appearing out of nowhere? What about the “fake sun” plan being thwarted simply by the Avatar after less than ten minutes? What about the relentless teasing of Infinite’s origins, all culminating in a big fat nothing (he didn’t even take off his mask for fuck sake)? What about Eggman just vanishing after the final boss? What about the fact that two thirds of the final boss are rehashes, and at this point I’m seriously insulted by seeing Egg Nega Wisp for the third time?
- Going hand-to-hand with the rushed plot, the wasted potential. Sonic gets tortured in isolation, so you’d expect some consequences to his characterization. Nope! Not even a reveal that he was just hiding his fear by acting tough. Why are Shadow, Chaos and Zavok on Eggman’s side? Lol, they were just illusions, the real Shadow is fine and the others just don’t appear. All the cool hints about a tragic past for Infinite in his own song? Nothing mentioned in-game. He’s an experiment, that’s it. The connection with Mania? Just an excuse to justify the presence of Classic Sonic, whose only purpose in the plot is to snap Tails out of his depression. This game is just begging, “Rewrite me, please!”, and if I could write decently I’d do it myself, I’m that disappointed.
- What’s the deal with Aqua Road? It’s the only gimmick level in the game and it looks like the unholy child of those horrible bingo tables in Bingo Highway and this part in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for PC.
- Very minor, but if Eggman could see the fake sun, that means he would’ve been incinerated too. Considering how smart he was otherwise, that seems like a huge hole in his plan.
That’s everything I can think of. So, in conclusion, the game is generally good but overall mixed, and I dread the coming of November 7th because I can’t even imagine the kind of reception this game will get (and since it’ll come right after Super Mario Odyssey I don’t think it will sell well :\).
I would personally play it if I had the chance because the game doesn’t look broken, boring or frustrating, and if I can manage to have fun with ShTH Forces will definitely be entertaining :V but it’s clear something went seriously wrong during the production and it feels like there are bits of the game missing, bits that could’ve elevated the quality from “good” to “excellent” - which is also why I hope Sonic Team doesn’t throw everything away but keeps the good parts and expands on them to create an even better game next time.
So if you’re planning on getting Forces, ask yourself what do you want to see in a Sonic game, because that’s the thing that makes the difference between “it’s not perfect but I can have fun with this” and “this game is absolute trash and Sonic doesn’t deserve this”.
