Ive always had a little interest as shuro in dungeon meshi as a character cause it feels like theres so much more to him that shows up in the main manga. His relationship with his dad, his relationship with maizuru, his relationship (or lack thereof) with his party, the inheritence competition and his whole personality being a foil to laios...

the comic that got uploaded showing how he met laios rlly got me thinking more about him. I might try and make a more comprehensive post about him + the rest of the eastern party

I always see people say well, if Alicent had just married Helaena to Jace, the war would never have happened. And it's like the war would have absolutely happened, its akin to the waves ever falling onto the shore, its inevitable and unstoppable, all that marriage would have done was put a bandaid on a wound for a little while before everything would just explode.

I don't think there would have been any situation where Alicient would have agreed to that. If Helaena did marry Jace, she and any children born would have been used as a hostage during the war and worse than that, she would have been stuck in Dragonstone with a group of the most volatile people who despise her side of the family, what would have Rhaenrya or Daemon have done to her, an easy within reach target when Lucerys died? Would Jace even be kind to her once his brother dies?

Or let's say that the marriage had gone through and Alicient manages to make Heleana stay in Kingslanding along with the Black team and for a little while, everyone would be in an uneasy peace, forced to get along under Viserys eye and then the Black team would want something done & the Green team would need to agree for it to happen(and this something would undoubtedly not be in favour of the Greens) or if the Green team was perceived as disrepectful whether directly as one of the members doing something(an incident with the boys or Otto secretly scheming or Alicient doing her queen duties, I can just imagine Daemon seething in the background like how dare she command while in the castle of the Targaryens) or someone implying that the Green team would be better and it getting back to the Black team, they would have immediately implied a subtle threat regarding Helaena and declared their authority as the to be Queen party(well, as subtle as a hammer on an unruly nail could be) and any slight disbelieving hopes that this arrangement could actually work would be dashed and the Green team would be furious and unable to do anything about the Black team, and the moment Viserys dies, that's it for them.

And If they had managed to secure the city, the same as the show and had Helaena & any of her children as well, they'd be using them as a hostage against the Black Team too and at least with them, she'd be better treated.

And continuing with what about if Helaena had children? She'd be known to have had children with a widely suspected bastard leading to a shaky line and Daemon is right there with his two targaryen looking boys, there is no way he or even those boys or their later children would have left her and her children alone. If she had married Jace, she'd basically be terribly screwed over twice in succesion crisis in her lifetime.

Also, if Jace had married Helaena, what about Baela? Now, I really don't think Corlys would have let it go when he's been promised a Velaryon queen on the throne and has gotten so close to it after all the other times, just to only have a bastard prince. So that's basically 2 main people besides Otto in Helaena's family who would be eyeing her and her children.

Let's not forgot ofcourse, What about her brothers with their future childrens and their claims, the relationship would never be the same and I doubt that something would not be done about her children too if they were to manage win.

What kind of life would that be to be taken away from your family and placed with people who will be actively to passively hostile to you? To know your relationship with all your family side will forever be altered, that your mother wouldn't choose you and your line over your brother and you & all your children will be in danger from everyone for a very long time?

#Like I feel that marriage offer was a really shitty offer and Alicient absolutely knew that #The levels of isolation and fear Helaena would have gone through would have mirrored Alicient so much #And while she wouldn't choose Helaena over Aegon especially since Helaena's claim would be intertwined with the Black team #It doesn't mean that Alicient doesn't love her so much #That she would never put her in that kind of harm #Everyone kinda glosses over this because we're modern and there's no stigma against marrying a bastard #But Helaena would be marrying a bastard and while it was never formally acknowledged in the show #If Rhaenrya lost and had to be forced to admit that to save her life Helaena's standing #And her children's claim & royal life would all be invalidated #And Helaena's own claim to the throne would be severely diminished as well #Somehow #that marriage would make everything so much worse #anti black team #house of the dragon #heleana targaryen #alicent hightower #anti rhaenrya #anti daemon #anti viserys i targaryen #I feel like the only only person who wouldn't have a problem with this marriage among everyone's worry and refusal is Viserys #Because the way everyone says Helaena married to Jace would stop the war #is them assuming that the marriage is a one for all magic solution to everyone's problem and nothing could ever go wrong again #And the only person who would have that view in the show is Viserys #He'd be the only one smiling and being giddy at that wedding like all his problems had now disappeared

ok but imagine. lime goes up against the witch king and he fails!!! for one of the first times in his life he fails at something!!!!! but then mochi is able to defeat the witch king and for a sec lime is relieved and he’s so proud of her. he loves her so much. but then he sees a bright light and mochi falls. hes panicking slightly and calls her name quietly then louder as he runs over. the whole battlefield is so quiet bc everyone is like “was that…? did she —“ and once lime reaches her he pulls her body into his lap and takes one look at her face and just SCREAMS. the girl he loves is gone. her eyes are vacant. maybe if he were a little bit stronger he could’ve at the very least helped her defeat him. maybe land the final blow so she’d still be alive and she’d be smiling at him. maybe he’d get to tell her he loved her. but he has to settle for sobbing those words into her hair as he holds her to his chest — to feel her warmth one final time before its gone for good.

btw can totally imagine lime looking up and seeing sulluvan looming over him and lime has a full meltdown saying he won’t let him take mochi

and as for sulluvan.......100% lime would lash out at him. get the fuck away from her. but i think the way sulluvan operates is a bit two-fold in the sense that he has a presence in the land of the living and the land of the dead at the same time. so yes hes standing near them, watching lime sob and cry and scream and beg over mochis corpse, but he is ALSO in the land of the dead watching mochi (or her soul anyway) doubled over and crying, not ready to face him, and not ready to leave yet,..

sulluvan calls out to her spirit and she says she knows. she knows she has to go. and asks him just give her a few moments before she has to leave

(anyway all that to say that lime couldnt stop sulluvan from taking her soul if he tried. its already happening)

#The Poisons We Drink #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #this is…….a lot of cool ideas but also so many elements and high stakes that i kinda lost track of them #the pacing is weird. the worldbuilding is random? #why is brewing SO overpowered & risky for her but the other powers seem to have pretty normal low-scale risks? #it’s definitely ambitious and has some cool ideas and also some great characters just. didn’t execute as well as I’d like #as much as we’re told the main threat is the government trying to put through a Registration Act #most of the actual antagonism we see is from other Witchers? #like the systemic discrimination got a bit lost in the witcher family drama and murder politics #important things to say about oppression and police violence but like....idk #she has this ‘deviation’- essentially evil sentient magic inside her head (and you KNOW I love that trope) #but it’s barely explained and very underutilised? other than helping her get out of bad situations you could take it out & would barely #change anything #also it’s explained at the start that she’s an empath but other than the very occasional mention I kept forgetting #will also note that I bumped this up my tbr because I saw the author talking/promoting it as the MCs sister being aroace but no mention #maybe it’ll come up in a sequel (there weren’t really any places where it would have made sense to bring it up here) but idk #(just the way the author was asking for advice on how to write an ace character and stuff you’d assume that they’d….put that in the book?) #not really a critique of the book itself but anyway. I really wanted to like this but the way it was put together just did not vibe with me #edit: I saw the author say on twitter that the version used for ARCs was before ace stuff was added and that there's other signif changes? #so perhaps that will be there! i'm not sure if I want to read it again but might skim just to see what that's about

Hmm well at least in the past decade, my big worldbuilding projects have mostly come down to three-ish stories: Other Side of the Gun, Adventures of Gæilo and Ethon, and Just Desserts

OSG was an Invader ZiM fancomic concept I started around 2013 to justify every single Irken headcanon I ever came up with lol - I never finished it, or even really started it, but I put a lot of time and energy into its roughs back in the day :)

One that you can see over here is all the work I did for my DnD campaign, AGE! (Though its sideblog hasn't been updated in a while haha - the AGE tag over here works just as well) I basically homebrewed a pantheon and had an absolute blast designing all the gods and their forms before they became gods and even things like architectural differences in their churches and the BBEG and his motivations and just ah <3 Such a fun project :D

It also laid the groundwork for things like Pokemon Homestyle, specifically all my papercrafts! You can really see how I leveled up haha

And my latest has been Just Desserts! Even with less time under its belt, it's still pretty expansive, as evidenced by my icon and theme and the backlog lol, and it's the one I have the most AUs of! (Though OSG does come close actually haha) There are still some thorny details I'm trying to iron out, especially to do with the magic system, but all the characters and creatures and the fact that I made my own fighting minigame, ah, pleased! I've never been so happy with a sona before Charm! ♥ From the very beginning it's been so fun to work on and I still want to improve!

i usually just post about reassassination and ultimate excalibur alongside less developed stories/universes but brother i have a LOT of stuff that i either hardly talk about or never talk about at all publicly ,,, mostly because they don't have any character designs done yet 💀

#like let me dump a few of the ideas that will probably never actually become real here: #1. story about two vampire hunter girls and one goes missing and the other has to go find her and fights various vampires along the way #(i actually did finish a few designs for this but scrapped it and now a lot of the plot aspects are in reassassination #such as a coven of 7 vampires based on the deadly sins - now the 7 assassins of the clear crucifix organisation in RAA) #2. darkstalkers-ish fighting game that i was really convinced i could make once i learned how to code - #- where the guardians of love and heartbreak fight to prove which love is real #there were multiple characters planned - puppy love which was like a cute girl with a big ass scary fuckin hellhound #sweetheart love who was a chocolate themed magical girl (her gimmick being that she could transform and her fighting style would change) #fake love who was like a scam love doctor old lady called dr.diva #pure lust who was a super tall vampire guy etc etc the list goes on #i kinda want to go through with that one. one problem! i cannot code fighting games #and the one that was pretty well developed - metallic miracle which had a pretty complicated story #basically the world is being attacked by alien creatures that can only be killed by children (never decided why tho) #so the fucked up government takes a bunch of 5-8 year olds and put them into comas and then turns them into cyborgs #to go on suicide missions to kill these aliens. mira's mother is the scientist who created the technology that can send them into comas #and keep their bodies moving n shit and she takes mira onto a different planet to try and save her but theyre found after a while #mira's mother is killed and mira is drafted in the kids v aliens war BUT she is immune to the coma technology #she fights fully aware of what is going on for around a year? and eventually the aliens are driven out and mira is super traumatised #and is one of the only survivors of this 'greater good project' - so they put her in a coma that actually works this time #and send her in a space capsule for years to give her some peace (didnt develop why shes in the space capsule) #anyway 50 years later mira is woken up and taken back to her home planet to help these other guys against smaller-scale threats #and the whole thing is about mira recovering from what happened to her learning to trust others and stuff #looking back the story is kinda edgy n doesnt really make sense and stuff but i think it could be interesting idk #is this oc rambling if its only in the tags? #whatever #oc rambling

Fun Lasting Effects #and then she Forgot ever going through that and was also cut off from her family (her FAMILY-) #so it's. hard. the whole world feels Wrong. her emotions are too Big for her body to hold #she's still a child but it's like she's doing it wrong somehow. she isn't like anyone else #which is what directly relates to her running away from the home she gets put in bc they fundamentally CAN'T get it and also don't try #and she's so hurt and frustrated and she KNOWS she could be on her own anyway! one of the ways in which she's too grown-up #but that's hard too it's just hard in different ways #and then she finds cyllene and lav and ingo again and it's just like. a Click. somehow it's so much easier to Exist when they're there #....this is mostly abt akari i guess. oops. there's more abt the others but there is a theoretical tag limit on these things #AND ALSO I THINK SHE'S A DIVINE OR CHOSEN SORCERER. so that's another thing. magic she can't 100% control #that just burns through her when she gets emotional #ingo meanwhile has not felt An Emotion in five years. and laventon is off in lala land approximately 50% of the time. #and if you ask cyllene she'll say her only emotion is Shouting. but she's a fucking liar #but more on that another time!

i think ,,,,,, even outside of being a betty enthusiast . adventure time would have managed to be 10x better if there were more betty-centered episodes ,,

HOW HAD SHE DETERIORATED MENTALLY BEFORE BEING MAGIC WOMAN ?? #SHE SAYS SHE EXHAUSTED ALL OPTIONS WITH SIMON . WHAT WERE ALL THOSE OPTIONS ?? #EVERYTHING WE HAVE WITH BETTY . OR A LOT OF IT . i think fen's relationship with uoser is crazy... she really respects him and wants his respect in turn but hates that she had to rely on him to help max instead of being able to handle it herself and she hates that he's sick and she can't help and she's balancing a desire to make things right with him and following through on all her promises she made to her little group and herself and her party whom she likes and trusts and respects and doing the best she can to help people while knowing captial chews you up and forces you to make extremely hard choices where no one wins but she knows as long as she's still standing she has the means to help someone else. and she's angry that he doesn't seem to see any of that in her intentions and is just disappointed in her. headinhands.

#he's literally right that it's bad so many people are in danger from the hatchling but it's not like fen disagrees! #she's MAD at uoser!!! that he would imply she doesn't care about the lives of the people in barlock's rest and has no qualms #with using fabiano as bait #and that she hasn't thought through this situation and isn't aware of how bad it is #but mostly she's mad that he would imply those things AND suggest that the hush ignore the problem alltogether and let the swampers #handle it #if she and her party don't handle the hatchling then who else? who else will die while the swampers search for the hatchling? #who else at barlock's rest would die if the delved with uoser today instead of waiting for the hatchling? #i don't think fen actually cares about the derogatory nature of the term ratcatcher but she IS offended that uoser called her one when #she is only trying to help #fen takes problems into her own hands she can't stand relying on someone else to get something done #she WON'T let this be someone else's problem when she's sure they can handle it tonight. and GOD i hope we fucking finish this thing #fen is in captial putting herself in mortal peril basically every day because she knows she can provide for her little community #she is building her strength and her magic and her connections so she can continue to do so #so one day her little group won't have to live in the stacks and they won't have to rely on favors from more powerful people and groups #and she CARES about people she wants everyone to have as much autonomy and respect that she thinks she deserves #and so anyone assuming she is being careless or thoughtless about lives or that she isn't making the best she can of a bad situation #something she is ALWAYS doing #then she's mad! #i wish i had the exact wording of that conversation so i could read it over again but that was one of those moments where playing fen #was So easy. she's thought this through. she will do whatever she can to save as many people as possible. the situation will end because #she knows she can finish it #and if she's wrong well. grimace emoji! #ch: fen
