Come Morning Light (Part 6)

(Long time no see, aha ;; Sorry this one took so long, I've been very busy IRL and haven't had a lot of motivation to write. Anyway, I've looked at this chapter for way too long so I need to let it go or I'll just keep poking at it. Mind the TWs, and enjoy!)

Bdubs kept a watch on their back as he ushered Tommy into Xisuma's main tower, the kid still tense as a spring even after their heart to heart. They had to run all the way to Xisuma's portal since Tommy had no wings, and the poor kid ended up vomiting as soon as they exited the portal from overexertion. Bdubs hated having to rush the boy as soon as he was done instead of giving him time to recover, but they had no idea where Dream was. Bdubs didn't doubt that he wasn't far behind, and they couldn't risk a single second for him to catch up.

Bdubs' worries eased significantly after seeing several hermits already in the tower, the uneasy chatter of a busy room soothing his tension.

A small gasp caught his attention, and Mumbo was already halfway to them by the time Bdubs looked up. The hermit didn't even pause before he was already embracing Tommy, the first time he'd done so without asking first. Bdubs opened his mouth to remind Mumbo to give the kid space, but his words died in his throat after noticing Tommy shudder and melt into his mentor's arms just as he had for Bdubs.

"Oh my gods, Tom, oh my gods--" Mumbo exhaled, his arms shaking as they held the boy like he was the most precious treasure. "You're okay, you--you're okay." The hermit pulled away to cup Tommy's face, looking the kid up and down fervently. "Are you hurt?"

"No," Tommy uttered thickly, wiping his eyes. Mumbo looked about to pass out from relief. "Thank the void--"

"Tommy!" Xisuma's voice reached them before his hulking form did, his boots thundering against his concrete floor. Bdubs noticed Tommy full-body flinch at the noise, and Mumbo pulled the kid closer in an attempt to comfort him when they turned to the admin.

Xisuma's gloved hands nervously flitted over Tommy's shoulders before resting there, the admin kneeling down to be eye level with the boy. "Are you alright?"

"Fuck, man--" Tommy muttered under his breath, his expression pinching. "Why does everybody keep fuckin' asking--"

Xisuma's eyebrow raised sharply and Tommy sighed dejectedly, though Bdubs saw Tommy's old self for just a moment in his childish expression. "...I'm fine."

Xisuma's eyes crinkled in a hidden smile. "Good."

The admin stood again, raising his arm to quiet the group of hermits that started to gather near Tommy as they realized he was in their presence. Bdubs saw the faces of False, Keralis, xB, Wels, Ren and Doc looking attentively up at Xisuma, their expressions varying from concern to fear to anger.

"As most of you know by now, we've--we've been invaded." Xisuma started. "A player has come here with the intent to hurt Tommy, and they're willing to kill as many of us as it takes to reach him."

From the corner of his eye, Bdubs saw Tommy's face crumple with a heartbreaking expression. Hearing the situation aloud made the whole thing more real.

"This is..." Xisuma trailed off, his shoulders sagging. "I...I want to apologize. And I'll do so again when everyone gets here, but..." The admin turned to look down at Tommy, who was hollowly looking back.

"I'm sorry. My whitelist wasn't strong enough to protect this world. You're all in danger because of me." Xisuma inhaled with the slightest shake under his breath. False reached up to lay a gentle hand on his arm, a silent encouragement.

"I...have a few ideas on how to deal with this." The admin continued with more strength in his voice, nodding at the influx of other hermits who were arriving as he spoke. Hypno, Cleo, Joe, TFC, all of them frantically searching the growing crowd until they saw Tommy safely tucked into Mumbo's side and visibly relaxed, though they didn't put away their weapons.

Joe moved against the wall to get to Tommy, the boy obliging without a word when the wordsmith opened his arms. Bdubs' heart twisted painfully at the sight of Tommy shrinking into Joe as if the hermit was his only solace, like if he shut his eyes tighter then he could just disappear into the safety of Joe's arms and leave this terrible reality behind.

"This is the first time someone's been powerful enough to break through my magic." Xisuma said, his tone serious in a way that commanded his every word was to be clung to. "This new player is a threat, and he's made that very clear." Every hermit's face flickered with anger at that, fists clenching and eyes narrowing at the reminder that one of their own was attacked and murdered so viciously.

As if on cue, Iskall came staggering into the tower, instantly aided by Hypno and xB. Seconds later, Stress, Jevin, Etho and Tango arrived, all together with matching looks of determined rage. Bdubs noticed they all paused to check Iskall, who was being carefully eased down to rest on the concrete floor. His throat tightened as he saw pain wrack Iskall's features, his communicator heavy in his pocket.

Tommy had been spared the news that Iskall fell to Dream's blade, too urged by Bdubs to check his comms, but when Tommy was blocks ahead Bdubs stole a look in case it was news telling them to detour. Seeing Iskall's name next to Dream's almost made the hermit trip over his own feet from the shock. If Dream could take Iskall down...

And as if more salt needed to be rubbed in the wound, Bdubs could clearly see that Dream hit Iskall so hard that he was still feeling it. It terrified him to his very core to know there was someone that powerful coming right for the kid he almost killed once already. How many hermits would fall before Dream was subdued?

"We're not prepared to take on a threat like this," Xisuma continued, and Bdubs snapped out of his swirling thoughts to pay attention. Right, the plan. Xisuma was going to tell them what to do and then everything would be okay.

Bdubs had to believe that.

"However, we do have netherite armor, almost every one of us." Xisuma said, taking that moment to stare right at Joe, who grinned back with more nervousness than sheepishness. "And for those who don't, we definitely have enough ancient debris among all of us to spare."

A whoosh of air announced Grian landing outside the tower doors, his enormous wings buffeting the hair of several hermits near the entrance. Impulse and Zedaph followed a second behind, both without their usual bright smiles. It made the whole situation suddenly seem much more dire.

"I'm sorry to ask this of you, friends." Xisuma said, his tone falling into genuine sadness. "But we need to gear up. We need to protect Tommy, and our world."

Bdubs knew that all his admin wanted was to maintain a safe haven for his hermits. Now, despite his best efforts, that was no longer going to be the case until Dream was taken down.

Xisuma took a breath to continue, but everyone's communicators buzzing in unison cut him off. It was out of habit when Bdubs glanced at it, but the messages froze his eyes to the holoscreen in shock.

All the color drained from Bdubs' face as shocked murmurs and gasps broke out among the group of hermits, and there was nothing to stop Tommy from looking at his communicator this time.

Tommy was gripping the device so tight that Bdubs feared it would snap in two, his diamond eyes fixated on the messages. He already knew that Tommy was blaming himself in his head.

Before he could say anything, the kid turned to Iskall like he finally noticed him, his expression as fragile as glass.

"He's after me." Tommy croaked, his eyes unwavering from Iskall on the floor as his voice tried so hard to stay even. "You're not--you're not safe."

"Tommy-" Joe tried, faster than Bdubs. The kid responded by forcefully pulling away from his guardian, holding himself in shaking arms. "Don't--don't try to fucking deny it, any of you."

The venom in his tone made Joe pale, the poet halting in his tracks to reach out to the boy.

"He--he's gonna kill all of you." Tommy breathed, his voice thick. "He's too strong, he--he's gonna get me and you're all going to pay for it."

"We can come back, Tom." False finally spoke, her words the gentlest that Bdubs had ever heard from her. Tommy looked up.

"He can probably kill us. I don't doubt that he will." False said, and Tommy flinched. "But if he does, we'll respawn and go after him again and again."

False's eyes were kind, her voice unwavering with steady calm. "We are killable, Tommy, but we will never stay dead."

Moving Day

it's the day that comes at the end of every season. and yet, somehow, the hermits still get caught off guard by it.

featuring: hermit ensemble, slice of life fluff, imagine moving houses but like every year and a half, werewolf!ren, something!joe, artic fox!etho, he is vaguely developed, there's pretty much no plot, just fluff, an ode to the end of this season

"Zed, you're gonna be late!" Tango calls as he drops in through the ceiling. With a bang, a mop of blond hair pokes out of the central storage. Zed rubs his head, pulling himself up.

"You're the one who distracted me with the Create world!" He replies, hauling a bag up the ladder with him. Tango laughs, throwing it over his shoulder as Zed flops onto the stone ground.

"Sure I was, it's not like you brought it up." Zed huffs, rolling his eyes. He holds his hands up towards Tango, who laughs. "Oh, you want to go over my shoulder too?" He teases.

"You are insufferable," Zed mutters, pushing off the stone himself instead. The cold is starting to seep through his cardigan.

"Have you packed everything?" Tango asks. Zed holds his fingers up to count off.

"Yes, I've checked everything four times! Maybe five, actually. I don't think there's anything left." Zed looks back at the ladders, closing his fist. Tango examines the pile of bags, humming.

"So you're sure you don't want me or Impulse to check for you?" Zed's mouth opens.

"Actually, can you check anyway?" He asks, "You know, just in case!" Tango laughs, giving Zed's shoulder a bump.

"Of course we will. But let's move these before Xisuma forgets them." Zed nods, quick to grab some of the bags. He heaves them up, almost buried under them.

"Season eight here we come!"

"You two!" Doc calls, scooping up the white fox before he manages to rush past him. Ren very nearly runs straight into his legs. The wolf sits down, ears twitching as he stares at Etho. Etho sticks his tongue out, Doc struggling to keep a hold on the silky fur. "You two aren't helping, you know that?" Ren barks, tail wagging. "Yeah, yeah."

With a wiggle, Etho manages to slip out of Doc's arms. He jumps up, curling around his shoulders instead and getting comfortable. Doc sighs. He bats Etho's shawl out of his face, ignoring the amused chitter. Counting, he finds most of his bags already in his ender chest. Luckily, because the two animals playing around him are making it difficult. Unlike-

"Doc," Bdubs cries, "Have you seen my razor?" Bdubs doesn't even bother with the door. Doc looks down at him on the lawn.

"Have you checked your half?" He asks.

Bdubs throws a hand up, "Of course I've checked my half, but Keralis tried to drag me into packing all his junk so I had to make a speedy escape!" Doc chuckles, watching as Ren jumps down to nose at Bdubs' hand. "Oh, hello, Ren!" Bdubs jumps into baby-talk immediately, crouching down. "Fancy you being here!"

"Please, take him-" Doc waves, "-The two of them keep running through my feet." Bdubs strokes through the fluff of Ren's neck, glancing up and spotting Etho.

"Oh, Etho as well!" Bdubs waves. Etho yips in reply, ear twitching. Then Bdubs pauses, looking at Ren properly. "Ah-ha, Snips! Of course, right-" Bdubs jumps up, "Thanks guys, I'll see you at the town hall!" Doc looks at Ren as Bdubs runs off.

"You going with him?" He asks. Ren's tail wags, staring at Doc. He sighs. "Right, of course not." Doc picks Etho off his shoulder, dropping him on the floor to a surprised squeak. "If only there was a way to attach some bags to the two of you." Both animalmits freeze, sharing a look with each other. Doc can't help but feel satisfied as they scarper towards the nearest nether portal together. "Perfect." He can finish packing in peace.

"Do you think you've got everything?" Wels asks, perched on a chest. Beef hauls his bag out the door with a huff.

"Well, I've got you. That's half the challenge." He looks up in time to see Wels rolling his eyes, pushing his helmet up.

"I take it back, I'm not helping you anymore."

Beef laughs, clapping Wels' arm, "We've still got Three Fox Hole to look through, you're not going anywhere yet." Wels' lips twist into a pout, crossing his arms.

"You know, when I packed early, it wasn't with the intention of doing your packing for you," he replies. But, when Beef holds out a bag, he still takes it.

"And I appreciate it!" Beef grins at him. "Maybe I'll reward you with some of my finest wallpaper-"

"Oh, please no." Wels' eyes are wide, staring in mock horror. "I might never recover."

"Oh, blackmail works too, then." Beef stands, walking past him. Wels slips off the chest, frozen in place.

"Beef- Beef, are you joking?" Beef keeps walking. Wels runs after him. "Beef!"

"Thanks for heading out this far, man," xB says, smiling at Keralis. "I know you've got a big space to cover too."

"Ah, it's nice taking a break," Keralis replies, holding one of xB's bags in his arms. "And I know there's no way this would all fit in your ender chest, princess." xB chuckles, looking at the half-folded clothes, trinkets, and daily essentials all sorted into piles.

"Yeah-" he scrubs the back of his neck. "-I kinda forget I've got so much. Too used to my travel bag." Keralis bounces the one in his arms.

"Well, it's a good job you've got me!" He bumps into xB's side, barely knocking the other hermit off balance. "I can always lend you some extra bags if you need them."

"The luggage dimension is just going to be my stuff at this rate," xB jokes.

"Oh, you haven't seen how much I have yet." They both laugh, Keralis putting the bag down with the rest that have been packed. "Now, what are we doing next?" xB turns to observe his piles.

"I think that one," he decides. Keralis nods, skipping across.

"Then let's go, we don't want to be late!"

"Cub!" Scar's voice calls down the pyramid. "I cannot believe this." Cub turns to see Scar walking along the corridor, wings fluttering in annoyance behind him. "Xisuma says my crystals aren't essential items so I can't take them. That's so unfair." Cub laughs before he can stop himself, getting an affronted noise from Scar. "Cub! I come here, I confide in you-"

"Scar," Cub interrupts, squeezing Scar's arm. Vex magic sparks around them, electrifying the air. "You could make some once we're in the next world."

"It's not the same!" Scar protests. Cub leans closer.

"Or," he whispers, "We could sneak some across ourselves."

"Oh." Scar claps his hands together. "Now you're speaking my language."

"The language of crime?" Cub asks, calling one of his bags over to him. He catches it mid-air.

"The only language I know!"

"This is why you should've made a proper storage system!" Mumbo cries, as Grian pulls out the contents of another chest. "This could've been so much easier!"

"I didn't know it was this bad!" Grian replies, finally managing to find his towels buried in an unmarked chest. He throws them towards his 'to pack' pile, Mumbo jumping out of the way.

"Didn't you have weeks to prepare for this?" He asks, looking at the scattered items in dismay.

"I mean- I did host an entire world in-between," Grian reminds him. Mumbo hums in agreement, deciding to organise some of the piles before they end up vanishing into a pure mess. He looks for similarities amongst the items, beginning to sort them into manageable groups.

Mumbo's lucky he thought to get all his essentials together ahead of time. He gave his luggage to Xisumavoid to store, and he knows it's all taken care of. It didn't stop him from checking his base another ten times, but he's pretty sure he's got everything now. Pretty sure.

He's going to end up checking his base again later, isn't he?

"Grian?" Mumbo asks, pausing as he notices something. The rummaging through chests stops, with only a quiet thud & 'ow' before Grian is looking at him.

"Yeah?" He replies.

"Do you… actually have any bags?"

"Ahhhh," Grian's face turns a similar scarlet to his jumper. "You see, Mumbo, last season, I kinda… borrowed some."

"Borrowed, right." Mumbo sighs, running his fingers through his hair. "Were you ever going to buy your own?"

"Yes!" Grian replies, words fast. "I just. Never had time." Mumbo's had most of his bags since he joined, so he guesses he can't relate. Pretty much all the hermits gifted him one. Otherwise, he would've never remembered at that age, but that's its own problem. It's a good job he remembers the essentials even now.

"So, how do you intend on packing all this?"

Grian hums, "Do you think I could just shove it in there loose?"

"I'll go find some bags," Mumbo decides. And something to help his headache...

"How many cats do you think I could smuggle to the next server?" Cleo asks, holding up another of her kittens to Joe. Joe hums thoughtfully, bright green hair moving on its own accord.

"Well, I've certainly smuggled a few of my dogs inside myself." Cleo takes a deep breath, transferring her kitten to one hand so she can pinch her nose.

"Right, of course you have." She's long learnt to stop questioning how Joe works. She's a living zombie, he's Joe. At least it makes packing easier. "I think I might take some of them to my own world, this time," she muses. "Xisuma can do that, right?"

"I'm sure he can," Joe agrees. "If not, I will have a mass exodus of animals from the server." Cleo sighs, rolling her eyes. She sets the kitten down gently amongst the other cats.

"Right, are you actually going to help me carry my bags?"

"Of course! What kind of friend would I be if I didn't try to stop you losing an arm?"

"Ugh, don't remind me." She still can't believe that happened. First, her arm falling off, then nearly losing it amongst everybody's luggage? So embarrassing. She enters the main room of her base, where she's already got her bags set out. It's surprising how many skincare products you need when you're dead. Joe follows, looking around as if he doesn't know the place like the back of his hands. To be fair, Cleo would be surprised if anybody knew the back of Joe's hands.

"Right, I've shoved as much as I can in my ender chest. If you put what you can in yours, we can divide the remainder up," she lays out the action plan.

"Sounds perfect!" Joe picks up two bags. "Are you sure you don't just want me to transport them over?"

"Keep your true self off my stuff, Joe, you know what happened last time."

Joe sighs, "Fine, fine. We'll do this the human way."

"You'll do this the human way," she amends. "I'll do it the zombie way."

"Stress, it's only a spider," Iskall says, pointing his sword towards it. Said spider is standing triumphantly on top of her bags, red eyes glinting. Stress pokes around the doorway, brown hair falling across her face.

"Yeah, but it's a spider on me stuff!"

"You've fought worse than spiders!"

"Just get rid of it, Iskall!" He sighs. Readying himself for a fight, he crosses across the room, stamping his foot in front of the pile. The spider hisses, sharp fangs a warning. But when the creature jumps, Iskall's sword is there to meet it, throwing the spider to the ground where it disappears into twinkling orbs.

"Look, was that so hard?" Iskall asks, his hand on his hip as he looks back at her. Stress bounces in, grinning.

"It wasn't, was it? Guess I don't need to thank you, then!" Iskall rolls his eyes, slipping his sword back into his inventory.

"Like you don't need to thank me for helping carry your stuff?"

"Oh, I'll thank you for that." Iskall laughs, grabbing the strap of two bags and throwing them over his shoulder.

"How many trips do you think we'll need?" He asks, seeing her haul two up herself. Stress hums, observing the pile.

"Prob'ly only two or three. If we get started soon then we'll get done faster, too." Iskall can hear the teasing tone in her voice.

"Aren't you the one that was scared of a spider?"

"Don't know what you're talkin' about!" She calls, walking past him. Iskall shakes his head, smiling fondly before rushing after her.

"Hey TFC!" False calls, touching down at his base. She smiles at the sight of his usual suitcases, already neatly packed and organized. Everything's labelled in TFC's signature handwriting to boot. Far more planned out than her, she's gotta say. But that's a problem for the next world.

"False, what can I help you with?" TFC's smile is always nice to see. She flicks her elytra closed, waving.

"I came to ask you that, actually," she replies. "Wanted to know if you'd like help carrying things over. I did all my packing a few weeks back, so I'm kinda bored." And if she stays still for too long, X will probably try to rope her into admin duties. Sure, she knows the basics, but she doesn't want to be responsible for anybody's stuff going missing. Not her department.

"Well, I'm never going to turn down some extra hands," TFC replies. He walks over and pats the suitcases on the left. "These are all ready to go, I'm still finishing up with the others. Has Xisuma already started?"

"I think he was just finishing the pocket dimension, so you've still got a little while." The hermits always rush to be the first in, as if everybody's stuff won't fit. In False's opinion, being last is best. It's easier to get your things out when they're closer to the entrance.

"Good, good. Let him know I'm nearly finished, would you?"

False nods, saluting with one hand and picking up a suitcase with the other, "Will do!"

Hypno walks into Jevin's base to find him and Impulse slotting the last few items into boxes. He knows Jevin was mostly packed already, so it's nice Impulse has come to help out. But… Jevin might just be taking advantage of Impulse. Hypno won't think too much into it.

"X has finished setting up," he calls, not needing an introduction. Jevin twists to look at him, Impulse busy trying to fit a label on straight.

"So you're saying I'm late?" Jevin asks. Hypno chuckles, deciding to join them on the floor.

"You know what the rush is like to get stuff in. You'll be fine for a little while." Hypno shrugs, "After Wels, X'll probably be careful." Impulse nods, sitting back now the label of 'hoodies' is attached.

"I've already handed my stuff in," Impulse says, "I think False might have too? We both finished up pretty early."

"Yeah, there was a lot in the town hall ready to be moved." Hypno wonders if the hermits are getting more prepared for this. Somehow, he doubts it.

"So, you've come to help me carry these over?" Jevin asks, Hypno looks at the boxes, shrugging.

"With all three of us, it should only be two trips, right?" There are only five boxes, and two are pretty small anyway.

"That's the spirit!" Impulse calls, grinning. "Do you think you're all ready to go?"

"Yep, I think that's everything," Jevin decides. He pats a box, making more of a squelching sound. Hypno does his best not to laugh.

"Then let's get moving!"

Xisuma sighs as his visor adjusts to filter out the sunlight. Coding that in was a stroke of genius. It used to be such a nightmare to continuously adjust between the pocket dimension and hermitcraft. He looks at the stacked luggage to be moved, trying to figure out if there's more there than before. He swears there is. And they didn't even say hi when they dropped it off! Rude.

He jumps when something nudges the back of his knees, sending him stumbling forward. Turning, he finds Ren, his tail wagging proudly behind him.

"Oh! Hello there." He reaches down, giving Ren a scratch behind the ears. "Are you planning to change back before we move?" Ren barks in reply. "I'll pretend that's yes."

Turning, he sees a white tail flicking over blue diamonds. Of course, those two are together. Etho's curled up in the sun, black eyes watching the pair. One ear is stuck up, the other flopped lazily.

"You two aren't going to help me carry things in, are you?" X asks, sighing as he looks back at Ren.

"I think Ren forgot to leave a spare pair of clothes out, actually," Etho says, legs dangling off the throne. He's tugging his shawl over his nose now he's in human form. Or, as human as Etho gets. "And his outfit may have experienced some... unfortunate circumstances." Xisuma looks at Ren's sad eyes, shaking his head at the pair of them.

"And those didn't involve you in any way?" X asks Etho with what he thinks is an appropriate amount of suspicion in his voice. Etho holds his hands up, leaning back in a way that would have most people falling over.

"Are you accusing me, Xisuma?"

"I don't know, am I, Ren?" Ren gives a concise nod. Etho gasps, clutching over his heart.

"Betrayed by my own brethren!" Etho cries. Ren's tail is wagging, betraying his otherwise neutral expression.

"Come and help me carry things, you," X says, calling Etho over. "We'll be here for another month if you don't." Etho laughs, but jumps off the side of the throne, landing with barely a thud.

"What are we moving, bossman?" Etho asks. Xisuma surveys the piles.

"Mumbo's stuff next, I think," X decides, "He usually takes a while to unpack." Etho nods, following X's lead as they grab a bag and box respectively.

"So this is what you guys do at the end of the season?" Etho asks, Ren trotting along with them. Xisuma hums as he enters the pocket dimension, finding an open space at the back of the room.

"Yep, this is moving day," he explains. "I always try my best to make it easy for the hermits, but it doesn't often end up working." Etho chuckles, placing the bag on top of X's box.

"Seems like most people aren't done yet," Etho agrees.

"They'll get there," Xisuma replies. The hermits always do eventually.

They're just stepping out of the portal when a voice calls, "I'm not late am I?!" X scruffs Ren's neck, smiling at Zed, who's running over with far too many bags thrown over his back.

"Not at all, friend," he reassures him. Zed drops his bags, bent over and panting. Tango strolls up behind him far more leisurely.

"See, Zed, I said you wouldn't be!" Zed whips in his direction.

"Oh, you, mister 'oh Zed you're going to be late, we're all going to leave you behind', you-" Tango laughs, fluffing Zed's hair as he sets his bags down. They take the rest of his luggage out of the ender chest Xisuma left specifically for this purpose. Beef and Wels walk up together as they do, Xisuma waving to them.

"Beefers!" Etho says, grinning.

"Hey Etho, Tango, Zed, Xisuma." Beef pauses, "Oh, and a Ren!"

"Hey guys!" Wels simplifies, dropping his bags at the doors. "This should be everything from us."

"Perfect!" Xisuma nods, "You guys okay to help me carry things through?"

"Yeah, we can help out!" "That's cool with me."

Moving things goes a lot faster with five of them helping to carry things through. Xisuma just catches Impulse, Jevin and Hypno dropping one lot off, getting a frantic wave before the trio is rushing off again. The pocket dimension is quickly filling up with bags and boxes, the hermits a constant line as they drop in and out. Xisuma frequently checks, but it seems like the dimension is handling the pressure okay.

"Xisuma!" Joe calls, him and Cleo wandering up the town hall's stairs. By this point, Cub and Scar have joined them with TFC, False, Stress and Iskall all dropping things off too.

"Good to see you both," X greets, one of Wels' bags hugged in his arms. He turns away, before hesitating, something nagging the back of his mind. After a second of focus- "Joe, why do you have so many hitboxes inside you?"

"Ah, that's nothing you have to worry about, dear admin." Xisuma gives him a long look and decides this isn't a battle he's going to pick.

"As long as you're willing to help out," he says, instead. "We're only waiting for a few people. He takes a look at the gathered hermits. Cleo's now lying on the floor, Ren beside her. His tail is already wagging again. Cub is picking a box up, whilst Scar skips through the portal holding three bags with magic. Etho's chatting to Tango and Zed as they work.

"Of course! We'll be finished in no time." It's already taken most of the day, but X doesn't need to mention that. He sets his vision back to normal, does another check of the pocket dimension, and returns to carrying boxes.

The remaining hermits trickle in as the sun sets. Stress and Beef sort out dinner for everyone, Xisuma making sure the last of the luggage is safe.

"Wait!" A few heads turn at Grian's cry, heavy footsteps rushing up to town hall. "I- I've got my stuff." Xisuma blinks at the sight of the hermit carrying about four bags at once. One is bright pink.

"You're not too late," X reassures him. "You can just drop it in, there should be room." He's settled into a shaded corner, preparing for the process of safely moving over twenty players. And Joe. If he's being honest, the data is starting to give him a headache. But it'll be worth it once they're all in their new world. Their temporary 'in-between' world is already set up. Somewhere for them all to stay whilst he handles the switch over. Most of the hermits take the time to visit friends or do other projects during that, anyway.

"Thanks, X," Grian says, between gasps. He runs into the portal, X laughing softly to himself. Mumbo walks up a few minutes later, glancing at the group.

"Is Grian in there?" He asks. Before X can even reply, about four hermits are giving an affirmative. "Thanks, guys!" Mumbo heads in after, only two bags in tow. X watches, well-aware of the fondness in his chest. It's a good reminder of just what he does this for.

It's another hour until everything's ready. The sun is hanging over the horizon (Xisuma may have frozen the day cycle a while back.) X has watched warily as they've shared food, chatted, played games (including one very dramatic wink murder. He's not sure what happened in Grian's server, and he's not sure he wants to ask.) But now, they've all gathered around, watching as Xisuma enters the final commands.

"Okay, everybody here knows the drill. Stay with somebody else, I want to do a headcount on the other side, then you're all free to wander." He projects his voice, the hermits hushing to listen. "Is everybody ready?"

"Yeah!" "Born ready!" "We've been ready for hours!" "Is there food on the other side?"

X shakes his head. With a final press of the enter key, the portal opens in front of the diamond throne. There's a collective murmur of anticipation.

"Alright, you lot can head through. I'll join you in half an hour, max." He can't even make out words following that. TFC and False are first, walking through with a wave to the others. Stress and Iskall run after them. The rest of the hermits take their time. Some share hugs, some take a last look at the horizon. And Xisuma watches over it all, determined every single one of his hermits will make it safely through.

"X?" Impulse calls. He and Hypno are standing together. The town hall feels so much emptier now the hermits are gone. "You sure you'll be okay?"

"I'll be fine," Xisuma promises. "All standard procedure. I'll see you soon." They nod, sharing a last smile.

"Okay then. Stay safe, X."

"You two as well. Try and keep the others from misbehaving until I get there."

Hypno laughs, "No promises."

And like that, Xisuma's alone. He sighs, sinking back against the diamond throne. The sun casts golden beams over the land. This has been… a good season. They all are, but. Xisuma smiles as he sets the tick speed of the world to zero, freezing it in time. He thinks next season will be something special. It only takes fifteen minutes to finish his commands, the rest he needs to do on the other side.

"Goodbye, old friend." He pats the diamond throne. With a look over the eerily still shopping district, he sighs. It really is the hermits that fill a world with life, isn't it? "To more admin work," he murmurs, before laughing at himself.

"Shishwam?" Xisuma jumps, clutching his chestplate.

"Oh my goodness, you scared me." Keralis giggles. He's waiting in front of the portal, hands in his pockets. "I thought you went through."

"Well..." Keralis starts, "Somebody said we needed to go through the portal with someone else. And then I thought of a certain admin going through alone..." Xisuma laughs, shaking his head. He joins Keralis, swirling colours reflecting off his armour.

"Of course you did." He takes a deep breath. "Well, I'm ready to go." Keralis wraps his arm around Xisuma's shoulders, squeezing him tight.

"You've done a good job this season, Shishwammy. I hope you know that." Xisuma sneaks one last look out the doorway before they leave this world behind.

"Yeah." He smiles. "I think I do."

This was a while ago so I understand if you don't remember it happening, but at one point you mentioned wanting people to acknowledge that Pearl was a legate and having some angst based around this. If you remember any of the details to that I'm all ears :eyes_emoji:

I still have a lot of legacy headcanons and ideas and things running around in my head, legacy is great :D

okay so quick recap of legacy and things about it- Legacy SMP is a vanilla survival invite-only server with twenty-seven (if I counted correctly lmao) members and four inactive members, currently, they are in their 3rd season, which started yesterday!

S2 had a lot of lore that'll take too long to explain but here's the recap of it-

End of season 1 the remaining legates spawned in around 150 withers in one area which caused 'the withering energy' in other words, the withers killed everything in S1 causing the legates to flee the server into S2, but even when they escaped to S2, the withering energy leaked through the rift, causing chaotic energy that's controlled by us viewers, some of these chaotic energy being: Blood Moon (kill everybody you see at night), Magnetic Legates (legates become magnetic to each other), Voice of The Withers (Local legate SlicedLime gets possessed by the withers), and a lot more that i forgot lol-

And during the time Pearl left, the withers was at their peak pretty much, four legates - PoptartKatze, SlicedLime, LogicalGeekBoy, and Avomance had to fight a custom made wither fight - which was amazing btw I suggest watching Lime's video on it-

in which, LogicalGeekBoy was pretty much kidnapped by the withers, and new members arrived to save them (minus logic), and that's all the lore I need to mention for S2.

oh and logic wasn't saved - he pretty much sacrificed himself so the remaining legates could go to s3

okay now, all the ideas I have right now:

Pearl's legacy series was mainly a stream only series with only 5 S2 videos! She is dubbed the dragon slayer on the server thanks to her killing a lot of dragons back in S1! and because of the whole 'dragon slayer' thing, i headcanon her as a dragon hybrid!

I also somewhat headcanon her being cursed! With legacy's withers, Last Life's boogeyman, Empire's Xornoth, and Hermitcraft's moon big and EX and Hels and all that,

Also haha imagine if she bumped into the legates and they told her that Logic got taken by the withers and they weren't able to save him haha-

Also, moon big? haha, imagine if that kicked in something in her that she thought was gone haha blood moon pearl

haha someone tells her about the time in S6 where they summoned 100 withers and she just panics

Pearl just being the braincell of Boatem and when someone asks her how she knows all of this she just goes "oh yeah i know a dev and was in the same server as him for like 2 seasons lol"

Pearl sees all the cults happening in hermitcraft and when someone says 'this doesn't usually happen please don't panic' she just replies back with "we had a bee religion in legacy. i think the pastor sacrificed some sheep under me and my server mates names. i think he doomed us, but hey its whatever, I'm used to it"

HELLO! i’ve met some people who have wanted to stan shinee, and asked for information on them, so i decided to make this huge post for anyone who wants to know more about shinee and/or potentially stan!!!!! all are welcome!!!!!

Hell-o! After the whole spring we pushed the PA very hard, it survived, thanks to your generous donations and the bands/DJs/musicians who performed at our Soli Party beginning of February. We had some other smaller donations, two 90's Peavey speakers (that sound VERY middy) with another Peavey powermixer that sometimes heats and shuts down, and a pair of passive 12" speakers (for which one of them has no functioning woofer). Peavey 12" speakers actually do spectacularly as guitar amp speakers. Which is always useful to have at hand, but we have no guitar amp (head), preferibly transistor. The self made 12" speakers do sound pretty nice (although not very powerful) and use EV woofers and RCF tweeters. One of the EV woofers has been replaced with a very cheap 12" speakers which is also blown. If we could replace that cone with another decent EV woofer, and get a proper stereo amplifier, we would have two decent monitors (at the moment one is working as such). If you have lying around in some corner a PA amp, a guitar amp (head) that you don't use and/or forget it even existed we would take them from your hands happily and put it in to good use! BUT first we're still trying to collect enough money to get two new tops! Bigger the better but to for now, we need to collect 700 euros more! Next fundraising event will be held on the 6th of July, at XB, in Berlin, and if we can collect that much by then, we can then complete missing components for the material we have at hand and start thinking about the SUBWOOFERS! Don't be shy! Spend some money on a good cause! So I hurry to call them but of course they were closed until 8am. At 8am I call them they said bring my ID and insurance info to recover the vehicle. I go down there and ask questions but they told me they weren't allowed to disclose any information about who, what, were, or when the incident occurred because of confidentiality. They told me I would have to pay the towing and storage fee to recover my car from the impound. So I left and went to the impound paid $218.00 to discover that my vehicle had been totaled. So I had it towed to my house where I called the insurance company to report this. After I reported this incident they took a recorded statement and gave me a claim number. I waited for 2days for my adjuster to call me back and he never did. about 2 weeks later my adjuster calls and leaves me a message saying he needed another recorded statement and to call him back. I call back and got his voice mail. I spoke to one of his colleagues and they said they would send him and his manager a memo to call me back..well that never happened. 1 week after that I get a packet in the mail asking for my cell phone records, keys to the vehicle, and a notarized affidavit. I sent these things back and then a detective from the insurance company calls me and said there were red flags and he needed to get a video recorded statement. I agreed and went to give the statement. A few days later a detective from the police department where my car was recovered from calls me and tells me that my youngest son's father was with some friends at a nightclub were a drive-by shooting occurred and my son's father wasn't shot but the young man he was with was and as a result of them trying to escape the scene my car was crashed. As they arrived to the scene and asked questions about what happened my son's father would not admit he was driving the vehicle, and because they didn't actually see him driving or pull him over they could not prosecute. The detective asked me did I know anything about this incident and I replied hell no! The night of the incident my son's father had came to my house around 3am but never mentioned anything of course because he knows I would have tried to kill him. He also knows I would have been pissed because I never let him drive my car for the 3 years that I have known him, he has never had a license. She ask me was it ok to list him as a suspect and I told her Yes! I let her know that he did not have permission to drive my car under any circumstances. The very next day the detective from the insurance company called me and ask me what was my son's father name and what where the numbers that where called on my cell phone records. He asked why did he call me at 2:54am, I explained he wanted to let me know he was on his way over which wasn't out of the ordinary for him to do. So then the detective tells me my story stinks and I need to withdraw my claim because on my interview I didn't disclose that my boyfriend had come to my house. I told him why did I need to disclose who was sleeping in my bed if it had nothing to do with my car. I mean we know now he had something to do with it but I didn't know then. He told me the police detective also had the keys to my car which was a lie. It clearly states on the impound record that they had no keys. Not to mention the car has broken locks and loose wires I guess he didn't read that part of the report. He also told me I was trying to cover for my son's dad to get the car covered. I told him he could arrest him for GTA for all I care. My car was stolen and no matter who stole it I'm the victim and of course I want my car covered. He then said he was denying the claim and sending the case to the Department of Insurance to see if fraud was committed. Im beyond frustrated because I have nothing to do with what my son's dad did. Should I sue?""

Gird Thyself: A Buell Blast Built in a Chicago Apartment

Remember the Buell Blast? The 492cc single-cylinder starter bike was a far cry from the American company’s usual off-the-wall offerings. It was most at home in Harley’s rider training program—until Erik Buell announced the end of the range by dropping one into a vehicle crusher.

So it might surprise you to learn that the maniacal little ripper you’re looking at here is, in fact, a Buell Blast. Think of it as a Magpul Ronin, but smaller and more affordable; a Ronin Lite, if you will.

Except it hasn’t been built by a hi-tech firearms manufacturer, or even a well-established custom shop. This crazy contraption has been conceived by an insanely talented Romanian dude, who now lives in Chicago. And the only thing nuttier than the bike is the story.

It goes a little something like this: Alex used to work as a dental technician back in Romania, but after hours he built everything from custom Ducatis to snow bikes, drift trikes and hill climb cars, in a small workshop.

Then friends in the US encouraged him to relocate, figuring that it’d be a better market in which to pursue his passion. So about two years ago, he packed up and moved to Chicago, and now pays the bills by working as a carpenter’s assistant.

His first paycheck after moving went to a Lincoln TIG welder; then he built a small welding and fabrication table in his apartment. Over the next year he collected more tools, until the urge to start building bikes again took over.

Despite not having everything he needed yet—or enough money to rent a workspace—Alex sourced a low-mileage Buell Blast and got cracking. “I decided to start the build in my rented apartment,” he tells us. “I would take the Buell apart at work, and bring it into the apartment in pieces.”

“That was the easiest part. The hard part started after I figured out what I wanted to do with it, and how many things from my shop I was still missing. Still, I made a design and started to gather parts.”

It took Alex a further six months to save up enough money to buy all the bits and pieces he needed, before he could start work in earnest. “Some of the parts I designed—like bungs, spacers, rear-set plates and small stuff—were made by my friends back in Romania and mailed to me, because I didn’t know where or how to explain to someone here what I needed.”

“The rest I did in-house using my small vice, the handsaw, hammer, TIG welder, drill and Dremel—trying to keep everything as silent as I could, and as clean and organized as possible so my girlfriend wouldn’t leave me!”

“Taking days off from work so I could work on the bike during the day when everybody else is at work. Welding during the day with the window shades on so no one sees the arc light, and with AC/DC playing loud in the speakers so the neighbors don’t hear the ‘buzzzzz,’ and so on.”

It’s not the first time we’ve heard of someone building a bike in an apartment, but it’s the most extensive living-room project we’ve seen yet. These days, all that’s left of the Blast is its engine, carb, and the front half of the frame.

Alex hacked off the rear half of the frame, then de-tabbed the rest, moved the rear shock mount and welded on any brackets he needed. The seat’s a Biltwell item that he loved the look of, so he fabbed up a support to mount it.

That funky front end came from Chassis Design Company in California, and is equipped with a small air shock. “I wanted a ‘modern’ girder front end on my build,” says Alex. He supplied the guys with all the measurements they needed to build it to spec, then welded on his own headlight brackets.

The rest of the rolling chassis is pick-n-mix of the highest order. The front wheel’s from a V-Rod—liberated of its second set of rotor mounts to run a single brake. Out back, Alex retrofitted a Buell XB swing arm, rear wheel and brake setup. And the rear shock was borrowed from a Buell 1125.

Up top is a tiny fuel cell (black), and a cover for the electrical bits (raw aluminum). The tank only holds a gallon, but Alex says it’s the best he could manage for the look he was after.

Performance-wise, he was happy with the stock engine’s output, and the previous owner had tweaked the carb with a Dynojet Jet Kit. So the only mods are a Uni filter, and a new exhaust that’s a mix of custom work and an off-the-shelf carbon muffler. “I’m thinking of a bore-up kit now,” Alex tells us.

In between the big changes are a host of smaller details that could fill a book. Other than the numerous neatly machined details, you’ll spot new bars, Biltwell grips, an LED tail light under the seat, and a mount up front for Alex’s smartphone, which is loaded with a speedo app. “I chose the phone because, being new here, I use the GPS for riding around,” he explains.

“It was fun and somehow frustrating without a garage,” Alex concludes. “Always trying not to disturb the neighbors, and waiting for a day off. And everything taking so much time to do.”

“But it was all worth it in the end, I’ve built the “Franken’Blast” exactly like I wanted to, I didn’t get bored to death and it helped me meet cool people and make friends!”

Our jaws are on the floor—not only at the bike, but at Alex’s incredible resourcefulness too. Just imagine what he’ll achieve when he opens up a proper shop.

My Leather Throne- Profile of a Place

Being away at school really makes me miss driving. I feel so helpless not being able to drive myself to CVS or a supermarket, and figuring out how to get the shopper bus back home is somehow always difficult. I miss driving to the beach every week in the summer. I even miss the traffic through town. It makes me realize how much I took driving and my car for granted. The CRV helps me escape from any circumstance, even if that circumstance is, ironically enough, being completely lost on the road.

I got my license a few months before my junior year ended. I started off driving my dad’s old car because it was the oldest one we had. My parents figured that if I got in an accident, we could just get a new car since it was the most low-risk car price-wise. My dad drove a shiny, light blue Nissan Scion xB, the color similar to the blue text bubble of imessages. If you don’t know what kind of car that is, picture a toaster on wheels. With a license plate frame that reads “I’m Tuned Into NPR.” Now, picture a teenager driving that toaster on wheels. Of course, I was thankful that I had a car to drive whenever and wherever I needed, but this mode of transportation wasn’t exactly ideal for a teenage girl in a small town. Especially in a small town where everyone knows everything about you and can recognize your car by the bumper stickers on it.

Fast forward in time a little bit. My dad gets a new car. A brand new silver Honda CRV, but of course, with my family, he got it at a really good price. My parents sat me down on the couch in a very serious way. I knew a talk was coming, I just couldn’t think of anything I had done wrong recently. They ended up giving me a letter that said that they realized how unsafe the Toaster was for me to drive. I hadn’t really thought about that -- I mean besides the shuddering sound it made sometimes -- but it was alright for me. They said that after a lot of deliberation, they decided to let me drive the CRV because it was the safest of our cars. I had driven the CRV once or twice and it drove a lot more smoothly than the Toaster. I remember being so happy and thankful that I started crying, in typical teenage girl fashion. I felt so incredibly spoiled by my parents, but thankful nonetheless, and to this day I still feel the same way.

In a parking lot full of other gray CRV’s I could describe mine exactly. Look inside the front windows- 90% chance there will be at least one old Dunkin Donuts cup and napkins all over. Check the back too; there is a water volleyball ball that I bought two summers ago and used for a whole ten minutes until the wind made it impossible to play. There are a total of five bumper stickers: a circular red and black one for my high school lacrosse team on the left side of my license plate, and another circular one on the other side for JMU. Another black and red one for my high school is on the left side of the back window. There is a set of three little red Hawaiian hibiscus flowers on the farthest back window on the right side, and a sticker that says ‘Pennsylvania’ instead of “Patagonia” in the Patagonia logo and font. My parents got me a flip flop key chain when we went to Jamaica a few years ago. It says “one love” and hangs from my rearview mirror. It’s there in an attempt to remind me to keep my cool while driving, but I’m from New Jersey so it doesn’t really help all that much with the road rage. There are a few deep scratches on the roof from last winter. I went to dig the car out of the snow and accidentally scraped the corner of the shovel on the roof leaving really noticeable marks. I can’t even describe how heated my parents got, especially when I screamed back at them, “why is it such a big deal?” Since I scratched the paint off, if it rusts over it’ll compromise the roof itself. Kind of is a big deal!

My car somehow makes music sound better. One of my favorite playlists that I’ve curated is designed for singing in the car. Aptly named, “Concert Car” assists me in the most difficult of South Jersey traffic. I always have music playing when I drive, even if I’m just driving down the street. My music choice is pretty much always perfect for wherever I am headed, except for the time I got so lost driving home from the PHL airport. What should have been a 15 minute drive turned into an hour of confusion and crying. I drove around the Philadelphia stadium district for about half an hour while my 2000’s playlist blasted Sean Kingston on full volume. Not ideal driving music for the moment, to say the least.

The amount of times that car has saved my life is almost comical. I (knock on wood) haven’t actually gotten in a car accident, but I’d attribute that fact to the brakes on my car. Driving is one of the things I miss most about being away from home: the freedom to drive, to escape, or get lost. That is why my beloved, smelly, homey Honda CRV is my favorite place to escape; it lets me escape to wherever I want to. Other than near death experiences, my car and I have had some pretty solid times. I remember the countless fights I had in it with the guy I dated my junior year. I can even recall the drive I took after we broke up. But one of the most memorable arguments my car has been part of was one that I had with my dad. I couldn’t even tell you what it was about, but I remember my mom was away and couldn’t be the mediator for us, which she usually is. I don’t fight with my parents often, but when I do, its bad. Tears, yelling, our dogs barking at us because they don’t understand what is going on. It got to the point to where my dad had to take my keys away, but I had left my car unlocked in the driveway. I went to my room and my dad kept coming in to have a conversation, while that was probably the last thing I wanted to do in the moment. My next move was to storm out of the house to sit in my car and lock it from the inside out. I sat there for a while wishing that whole day could just end. My parents know it's bad when I just sit in my car contemplating things, but it is where I can escape to at times where my own room does not suffice.

Since I love driving so much, I’m usually the driver for day trips to the beach with my friends. I could easily give you a detailed timetable of how those beach days go. Get up at 7, leave around 8 to get to the beach by 10 or 11, with time to get gas and Dunkin as we head out. The amount of sand that has made its way in and out of the CRV could build a new beach. Absolutely nothing makes me happier than driving down the residential back roads adjacent to route 73 with all the windows down and the sunroof open. That is my euphoria. Sitting in my leather throne with my friends surrounding me, screaming the lyrics to whatever song is playing into the salty air. When I first started driving it, the CRV only took $20 to fill up completely- I even used to say “Twenty buck fills ‘er up!” Driving to and from the beach took less than a full gallon, and although gas prices have gone up since Christie decided to tax us NJ residents on gas, putting gas in my car is still never a pain.

Driving isn’t always fun and games, though. Last summer I got a job nannying for a family in town. They had a beautiful, huge house with a pool in the backyard. It was just three kids; the two girls were pretty easy to handle, but the youngest -- a boy -- was impossible. I hadn’t really driven kids around before nannying, so I made sure to be 10000% cautious whenever driving them. Of course they knew every song on the radio. Their favorite songs were “One Dance” by Drake and “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. The latter was from one of their favorite movies: “Trolls.” They knew all the words, and I felt like we were little family every time that came on. I can still hear them singing the words, “I got that sunshine in my pocket, got that good soul in my feet.” It was like we became the Partridge Family for a few minutes every time their songs came on. Whenever I pass that house I think back to singing with the kids all sitting in the back like little ducks in a row. At times, they tested my patience, but in the end I enjoyed my drives with them.

Driving around my hometown is almost comical because of how small it is. There’s almost no need to drive anywhere at all! I did soccer in high school but it became such a political game that I quit and joined tennis -- a sport I’d never done. I was one of the only seniors on the team so, of course, I got stuck with carpool duty the whole season. Since we had so few girls who could drive to practice, I was stuck with an overflowing car every other day. The most I fit into my car was seven other people, when my car can only fit four others. A passenger, two in the trunk and four in the back. One of my parents’ only rules was “everybody in that car has to have a seat belt,” I can still hear them reminding me. Sorry mom! Sorry dad! A lot of the girls I drove were freshmen. They looked up to me because I would always give them advice. They thought I was funny and a savage when in reality, I just had Senioritis (what we called that lack of caring that hits you senior year of high school). A few of the girls clung onto me and we ended up becoming really close and we actually still are. Who knew a car could help me make friends!!
