There are so many problems with their new therapist, Max hardly knows where to begin. He smiles too much, for one thing, with his big fake white teeth that are probably those porcelain veneers you can get glued on. Max hopes they hurt. Daniel has veneers but his don’t look so glaring and awful, and anyway, Daniel only smiles when he thinks something is good, or funny. The therapist wields his smile like a lion tamer with a chair, as if he can use it to block attacks. Not going to work, Max wants to say. I can still bite you, easy: and I’ve got my real teeth.

Cast

A heatwave, and this early into the season too. He was in hell. The heat got to his head. With the midday sun shining down, he could feel the leash on his composure pull tighter. Even his leather jacket betrayed him, scratching unpleasantly at the back of his neck where the sweat prickled. It set his teeth on edge, made him feel tired and raw Meanwhile, Jamie and his borrowed joggers appeared unfashionably immune. They were an old pair from a few seasons back -- that's what the medical team kept on hand for when they cast you up. With the long sleeve shirt and puffer vest combo on top, he should be dying.

Kitchen

The succulents on the island sat innocent and mocking as Roy stomped into the kitchen, which still had the audacity of being beige and tasteful and boring. Even the counters were empty, not a stack of mail or a forgotten mug to be found. The first time, Roy could excuse - he could always blame it on the cleaners having just been in - but now it was twice, and he found himself staring down the unwelcome possibility that Jamie just lived like this.

I must admit I don’t really have many hard and fast headcanons as I kinda enjoy working with that the show provides, or I’ll think of a few then kinda forget them 😅

One I stick with is that Buck changed his voicemail to include a message directly for Chris should he ever miss a call and Eddie finds out as Chris is heading for Summer camp at the end of season 3 - I have a fic on AO3 exploring this headcanon

Take a deep breath. You're going to be okay.

Reach out to some friends if you have some people you trust. You don't have to tell anyone what's going on, but it can help to talk to another person. For me, I often find my anxiety spirals much quicker when I'm alone.

Take a walk outside, in nature if possible. Listen to the sound of the wind in the trees. Take your time; look for critters; explore someplace new. Especially with anxiety it's so easy to get worked up in your own head, and sometimes just getting outside is really helpful even if it's the last thing you want to do.

As for nightmares, I haven't had need for this advice personally but it may be helpful for you: if it's a recurring dream, as soon as you wake up, write down what you remember, then write a new ending to the dream that you like better. I've heard good endorsement of the effectiveness of this advice for both reducing and dealing with recurring nightmares. In general, keep a stuffed animal or comfort item within reach when you go to bed. Nightmares are scary, I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

Also, even though it will really suck, it is okay if you have do have a breakdown. Sometimes there are emotions building up that just need to be released. You can let yourself cry. You can let yourself be upset. Just try to have a plan to make yourself as comfortable and safe as possible when it does happen. Who can you reach out to? What things/activities bring you peace and comfort?

What pets do you currently have? And what is the ultimate dream pet of time/space/money was no issue?

I currently have two cats: Frodo (on the left) and Sookie (on the right)!

Frodo is 6 years old and was a rescue. I found him in a steakhouse parking lot running feral in the middle of winter, emaciated and dirty. It too me a good hour to lure him out so I could grab him!

Sookie is 14 years old and was my mom's cat. she has severe anxiety but through desensitization and supplements she has improved dramatically.

My dream pet if there is no limit on time/space/money would have to be a Borzoi (Russian Wolfdog). This is one of my all time favorite dog breeds!

Aside from this, I miss having aquariums, and would love to have a massive setup in my house with a planted tank and tropical freshwater fish. I would love to have a bichir, since they look prehistoric!

Although if money/space/time were truly no object, I would open an animal sanctuary/rescue. Ideally a cat rescue but having a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary would be fun too! :)
