Hiroyuki Sawano, musical composer: I’ve finished scoring the season 2 ost. Since I’m caught up with the manga I had an idea what kind of music would fit in. In particular, this track called “ErentheCoordinate” would fit really well with the titular coordinate sequence. You’re gonna use it for that right?

Say you could ask Obha three questions, three of Obata, and three of any person ever involved in any adaptation of Death Note (it doesn't have to be three for the same person, it could be one for the animation director, one for the English voice actress of Misa, one for Kento Yamazaki etc). What would you ask? Happy New Year, I love your blog!
HUH, difficult... Honestly, I'll be really happy of Ohba never gives me a single piece of information about Death Note ever again. Please be silent, sir... You made a good thing, now don't mess with it!!
But I guess if I could ask him three things, I would still use my chance, so it'd be like...
1. Which parts of HTR13 did you personally author? 2. What the fuck qualifies for a 'real name'? Legal name seems to take priority, but how is it determined when that doesn't exist?! 3. Are Yamamoto and Yamamoto the same person?
Though I strongly suspect he'd just shrug at the second one, haha.
For Obata, meanwhile...
1. How did you organize your references for Light's astoundingly consistent wardrobe in the first arc? 2. IS there an actual design scribble of human-looking Ryuk? 3. Did you give any input on the full color manga?
And then for the adaptation questions...
1. to Tetsurou Araki, the director of the anime: what factors played into the decision to cut the second arc short? 2. to whoever wrote the audio drama: why. literally why. how. 3. to Nisio Isin, author of Another Note: which aspects of the manga did you draw on most when you wrote the novel?

‪i think fkbu ep9 is an interface to something greater.‬
Tumblr media
‪the director said ep9 onwards will unveil the foreshadows that has been scattered throughout the series. one of this op sequence where daisuke is shot hasn’t been answered, plus, haru has this gun firing trauma‬.
Tumblr media
remember ep4?
Tumblr media
so most likely, the next ep would involve them...and guns....and.....the worst case
not to mention the storyboard artist for ep10 is tetsurou araki, attack on titan director. so the climax is most likely on ep10.

A package containing the only doujinshi I’ve bought for a while turned up today - yay!! Inside were 7 volumes of SUNFURA doujinshi, which are collaborative books by Production I.G. staff from the early to mid-00s.
The SUNFURA books contain overwhelmingly original artwork (with the odd series illustration) by some of the most memorable staff to work on I.G. titles during the period including; Chiba Takahiro, Matsumoto Keita, Yokota Shin’ichi, Igawa Reina, Ozaki Tomomi, Katou Hirotaka, Shibayama Tomotaka, Matsumoto Megumi, Araki Tetsurou, toi8, and more.
The great thing about these books is that a lot of them have colour pages and a couple are actually full-colour! There’s some truly gorgeous artwork in these, making them worth every penny. The only thing that’s disappointing about these books is that there’s very little of I.G.’s own series reflected in them, it is mainly original illustrations unrelated to the series the staff were working on at the time. Buuuuuuut the art is so good I’m honestly not too bothered by this -- definitely recommended if you’re keen on any of the artists noted above.

2019 2.5D Actors ranking
I decided to do two rankings of my top 50 2.5D actors. One in terms of acting skill and level, and one in terms of how much I like them. RULES: 1. They must still be active in 2.5D shows. (Bar Hirose Tomoki because I love him so much) 2. I have not taken their acting level into account. That is not to say they are bad actors but that hasn’t been taken into account when ranking. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, arriva su Crunchyroll la versione cinematografica della serie
I due film riassuntivi sono già disponibili in streaming sulla piattaforma!
Tumblr media

About Marco’s death in the next episode
So I’ve gotten quite a few asks concerning this topic and decided to put my thoughts down here.
Tumblr media
In short, this looks like Bert reacting to Reiner reacting to Marco reactionception. We see the walls of Trost in the background, even the weather fits, this basically confirms that the rather tragic flashback plays next Saturday.
I have mixed feelings about the decision. On one hand, Marco’s demise serves as a parallel to Bert’s fate a few chapters later, and also helps kickstart his more determined persona we can see during the Shiganshina arc. Since his death, despite its presentation, remains an important even in the story, giving him this flashback to contextualize it all a bit more worked really well in 77. So I am slightly worried about what’ll happen once we get Shiganshina animated...but that’s a question for 2000 years from now.
There are many aspect of this I enjoy a lot though. First of all, it brings Reiner’s mental issues full circle right away. Ch 46 does a great job at introducing his split personality issue to the viewers, so seeing its origin gives the whole thing more weight, and adds to the humanization of “humanities enemy”. Furhtermore, I was personally quote bugged by the reminder of the existence of Reiner’s issues in 77, I felt that there was a possibility they might return in some shape or form, and that Isa reminded us of them on purpose (in retrospective maybe dumb, but Reiner’s brain was literally blown to bits at one point...is it too far fetched to make a connection between those events?). So not having that reminder in Shiganshina works wonders for me.
Another thing is that we actually get to see RBA in action once. Though its implied numerous times at that point in the story, 77 is the only time we actually get to see them acting towards their goal, and not overly professional at that. It’s great because A) all three of them are once more humanized, a major theme of the clash arc anyway, and B) gives more context to Bert’s crush on Annie, which becomes an actual plot point in ch 49. Since we actually see them all doing shit together, it feels more organic in my opinion.
Additionally, both Annie and Marco have appeared in flashbacks this season---gotta pour in the salt while the wounds are still open. The clash arc already is overflowing with tragedy, lets throw in the horrible demise of the fan fav character in there too. Thanks Attack on Titan.
And for what its worth, this isn’t really a disrespect from the anime team concerning the placement of the scene in ch 77. In fact, the anime team went to Isayama requesting storyboards for Marco’s death, bc they were planning on including it there, yet Isayama hadn’t even though about introducing it to the story yet. Only after creating the scene for the anime team did he decide to introduce it in the manga, and it happened to fit in really well. (x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Funny thing I realized earlier: remember the titan that ate Marco’s half? He had an eerie resemblance with series director Tetsurou Araki, didn’t he?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s because Araki was the one to ask for the scene. Araki was the one who initiated the creation of the death of Marco. Araki was the one to kill Marco.

is there anything especially interesting in the anime guidebook that you could share with us? :-]
I'm not sure what is most interesting here, so let me sum up what it is in the book! It's a pretty slim 160 pages.
It starts with some pretty barebones profiles of the characters, with the basic data points from HTR13 and few-line summaries.
Then it goes through every episode with screencaps of it and summaries. There might be a little commentary there that isn't just summary, but since I haven't read it properly... I am not sure.
Strewn in between are design arts of the various locations in the anime, which is probably my favourite part of the book. I will share those under the read more at the bottom!
This is followed by an interview with the voices of Light and L, and then another joint interview with the voices of Misa and Rem.
Then we get staff interviews with Tetsurou Araki (director), Toshiki Inoue (main writer) and Masaru Kitao (animation director).
Much shorter few-question Q&As with the voices of Mello, Near, Takada, Mikami, Soichiro, Sayu, Ryuk and... Jealous follow. Why Jealous?? I'm not sure.
There's also one-page interviews with the bands that performed the two opening themes: Nightmare and Maximum The Hormone.
Ohba and Obata also each get about a page of interview.
The book is then concluded with settei art for the characters and important objects. Nothing there is much of a revelation.
... so yeah, you'd have to read the text to see just how interesting this could possibly get, and I have yet to try and stumble through.
LOCATION ART BELOW THE READ MORE NOW~
