I forgot about Liandrin’s beef with the English language. Did Amathera have this accent? 😭 I can’t remember. I’m pretty sure Liandrin’s inner monologue is in normal English & this is just her airs and graces voice.
Either way, I know I’m a hypocrite because I read Liandrin with my face like this: 😒. But I’m all 🥰🥰🥰 when Bayle Domon and Teslyn insert random ‘it do be’s’ everywhere

miniaturecycleduck replied to your post “Teslyn Baradon. Not Teslyn Baratheon. Robert might have got around but...”
Teslyn would have eaten Robert Baratheon alive, and without even needing the power either
1. wow, that's an ancient post, and 2. you are absolutely right and you should say it

My crack ship is Nicola Treehill x Teslyn Baradon, or as I like to call them, Nicola Teslyn.
As someone who takes shipping Very Seriously (not at all seriously), I am, if you’ll pardon the pun, entirely on board with shipping something for the portmanteau alone, and I applaud your efforts.

Sitters in the Hall of the Tower
I was looking up various Sitters in the Companion, wondering how many of the Sitters during New Spring were still around 20 years later.
This is a list sorted by Ajah, with the year(s) they became a Sitter, whether they went to Salidar or stayed in the Tower (ie. were a rebel or a loyalist) and any other relevant info.
^ Sitter when Moiraine and Siuan were raised in 978 NE % Sitter when Siuan was raised to the Amyrlin Seat in 988 NE # One of the eleven who stood to depose Siuan + Sitter after the Tower was reunited
Blue
Anlee - ?; “Sitter for the Blue at the time of the Aiel War” ^ * Eadyth - ?; “Sitter for the Blue [...] when Moiraine and Siuan were raised” ^ * Lelaine Akashi - 962, went to Salidar ^ % +
Lyrelle Arienwin - 995, went to Salidar; went to the Black Tower in 1000 Moria Karentanis - 999, in Salidar; Black Ajah, “stilled and beheaded” in TGS
* Anlee and Eadyth both appear in New Spring. No confirmation if either were still around when Siuan became Amyrlin. Also, a Blue Sitter was “killed in the fighting when Siuan was deposed” (WOT Companion). This could have been one of them.
Brown
Saerin Asnobar - 960, stayed in Tower ^ % # +
Janya Frende - 993, went to Salidar + Takima Deraighdin - 991, went to Salidar +
Escaralde Hamday - 999, in Salidar
Juilaine Madome - 999, in Tower Shevan Gadarin - 999-1000, in Tower
Gray
Jarna Malari - ?, Sitter during NS; Black Ajah, killed by Ishamael in 983  ^
Yukiri Haruna - ?, stood to depose Siuan, stayed in Tower * # +
Varilin Zanaire - 992, went to Salidar + Evanellein Lorn - 997, stayed in Tower; Black Ajah, killed in TOM #
Delana Mosalaine - 999, in Salidar; Black Ajah; fled in KOD, killed in TOM Kwamesa Taramasu - 999, in Salidar
Andaya Forae - 999, in Tower +
Naorisa Cambral - 1000, in Salidar, chosen to replace Delana
* Yukiri was  raised to the shawl in 867 and would have been an Aes Sedai for 111 years in 978, so she could have been a Sitter then. It’s likely she was one in 988.
Green
Faiselle Darone - 981, went to Salidar % + Rubinde - 992, stayed in Tower # + Talene Minly - 994, stayed in Tower; Black Ajah, fled in KOD #
Joline Maza - 999, in Tower; set penance by Elaida, and then “unchaired”
Samalin Naerodan - 999, in Salidar Malind Nachenin - 999, in Salidar
Farnah - 1000, in Tower, chosen to replace Talene +
Red
Duhara Basaheen - 929-953; Keeper 979-984; 999, in Tower to replace Teslyn; sent to Caemlyn to advise Elayne in 1000; Black Ajah, killed in AMOL
Lirene Doirellin - 953, resigned / exiled in 985 ^ Toveine Gazal - 952,  resigned / exiled in 985 ^ Tsutama Rath - 964, resigned / exiled in 985 ^
Amira Moselle -  became Mistress of Novices during NS and a Sitter later (985?); stepped down when Elaida returned to the Tower in 998 * Javindhra Doraille - 985; went to Black Tower in KOD % # Pevara Tazanovni - 985; went to the Black Tower in KOD % # Teslyn Baradon - 985, stayed in Tower; forced to resign in 999 % **
Elaida a'Roihan - 998; became Amyrlin in 999 *
Barasine - 1000, to replace Duhara + Raechin Connoral - 10000, to replace Pevara or Javindhra + Viria Connoral - 10000, to replace Pevara or Javindhra +
* Too many Sitters! If Javindhra, Pevara and Teslyn all became Sitters in 985, how could Amira step aside for Elaida? Either that didn’t happen - it seems to be mentioned only in Amira’s entry in the Companion and in a Q&A, not Elaida’s entry nor in any of the novels - or else Javindhra only became a Sitter when she replaced Elaida.
** The Companion doesn’t say Teslyn stood to depose Siuan but surely she did, because she’s Red and there’s no one else who could have. EDIT for clarification: All the other Sitters are accounted for as having stood or not having been present. There’s also a line in ACOS about how Teslyn “supported [Elaida’s] rise”.
White
Velina Behar - 974, stayed in Tower; Black Ajah, fled in TGS ^ % #
Ferane Neheran - 981-992; 999, in Tower % + Seaine Herimon - 986, stayed in Tower % + Saroiya - 987, went to Salidar % +
Aledrin Malenry - 999, in Salidar; went to Black Tower in 1000 Berana Shamon - 999, in Salidar; stepped down when Tower reunited
Yellow
Sedore Dajenna - 961, stayed in Tower; Black Ajah, fled in TGS ^ % #
Romanda Cassin - 885-973; 999, in Salidar + Suana Dragand - 919-952; 999, in Tower
Doesine Alwain - 981, stayed in Tower # % + Magla Daronos - 985, went to Salidar % +
Salita Toranes - 999, in Salidar; resigned when Tower reunited

RJ’s notes Part 33 by WOT Ethnographer
Teslyn Baradon
“Teslyn was chosen Sitter - as were the others for the Red - in large part because she had never taken any true active part in the pogrom.”
“While she supported Elaida and was happy to see a Red on the Amyrlin Seat, she no longer is so ardent for Elaida, because of her forced resignation and everything that followed it right down to the tone of Elaida's latest orders, which was "do as I command or I'll have your hided stretched in the sun." While she has no present idea of moving or plotting against Elaida in any way, she is quite willing to stand aside and let matters follow their own course. … Nor would she weep to see Elaida replaced -- by another Red, of course. On the other hand, she would certainly not go over to the rebels, who she despises heartily. They are all fools and dupes of the Blue, who she never liked or trusted.”
“While Teslyn was being trained (the same as all the other newly caught damane) she and all other captured Aes Sedai were also questioned about their former existence. The Seanchan want to know everything there is to know about the Aes Sedai and the White Tower, from social organization to lines of political influence to the floor plan of the Tower itself. They are not, however, interested in learning anything else these women might teach them. There are no questions regarding the use of the Power, no belief that these sisters can teach them anything. With the possible exception of the "weapon" used at the Kin's farm, about which they can say nothing, of course.”

Wasted potential.
Tumblr media
I really want to read more about these characters. About the relationship between the Aes Sedai and the former Sul'dam, about their arrival and training in the White Tower. Watch the adventures of Pevara and Androl. And of course, about Mat and Tuon, maybe she could even change her attitude towards Aes Sedai? I don’t really wonder what’s going on with Elayne, Moiraine, Aviendha, Nynaeve and Lan. And also absolutely don’t give a damn about the unfortunate Rand. But the Ming had an interesting storyline brewing in the Seanchan. In short, it’s a shame that Jordan was never able to write books about Mat and Tuon, it’s a shame.

I feel like The Wheel of Time ending suffers from the fact Robert Jordan didn’t get to write the Seanchan spin-off. One way of fixing that in the show would be to show the conversation between the Empress, may she live forever, and her ancestor. One would hope a thousand years of being dead, of being a Hero of the Horn who literally answers to a channeler, and no Ishamael in his ears would change some of Artur Hawkwing’s opinions. The Seanchan rule in his way after all; the common folk are safe and happy for the most part. It’s his attitude to channelers that was his downfall & the thing his descendants held on to. Maybe Artur Hawkwing’s advice would serve as a catalyst to you-know-who changing her attitude. Aviendha’s Rhuidean vision does say she ruled with honour. The show could give us the beginnings of what that might look like.
GRRM’s biggest criticism of Lord of the Rings is that we never get to find out the nitty-gritty of Aragorn’s rule (#WhatWasAragorn’sTaxPolicy?). We get some of that explored in The Wheel of Time thanks to Elayne’s never ending chapters in Andor, Lews Therin giving Rand a lesson on the importance of a strong middle class in Tear, and the Dragon’s Peace itself. It would be great if the show could give us an idea of what’s next for The Seanchan. It leaves a bad taste for one of the most beloved characters in the story to end up in that world, especially after he literally causes a slave’s revolt and starts to revise his own opinions about users of the One Power (through his relationships with my queens Moiraine Damodred, Teslyn Baradon & Satalle Anan, as well as the way his outlook on Rand changes). Seanchan also has the most chaos to deal with by the time the story ends… (unless the Empress gives up on Seanchan proper and sets up a new kingdom in the lands she has in the Westlands…Something tells me she would never abandon Seanchan proper though & that is a crazy mess by the end).
Or maybe us not knowing what is to come for Seanchan works too. Narratively, they’re cloaked in a lot of mystery. We start off knowing very little about their mainland, and while we learn some things about the Blood, it’s not a terrible end for us to know just as little about them by the time the story ends… I know I’ve just gone around in a circle but I’m fine with not knowing what the future of Seanchan is, so long as we get to see a little change in the Empress’ attitude. If there’s one person who can change it, it’s literally Artur Hawkwing & I hope he gives the speech to all of The Seanchan there so they can’t ignore it.

Underrated Reds and Whites
Tumblr media
[Image description: the upper halves of wine bottles, two white and one red. One white wine bottle has text overlaid that reads “Daigian Moseneillin”, the other white wine bottle says “Saroiya Farseen”. The red bottle says “Teslyn Baradon”.]
Teslyn Baradon - An Illianer Red. Strong and surprisingly balanced, she is open-minded and works quite well with Mat Cauthon, who we would normally recommend against pairing with any Aes Sedai. She also avoids the smoke taint of the Vileness and the spoilage of the Black Ajah. She is not quite as unknown as our other choices, but is still underrated compared to the more famous and popular reds such as Pevara or Silviana.
Daigian Moseneillin - A Cairhienian White from a lesser noble House. While objectively very weak, which is why she is often overlooked, she compensates with subtle flavor and impeccable logic. She bonded Eben Hopwil, a young Asha'man who was also perhaps unfairly underrated, per Jahar Narishma; this was definitely a pairing to keep an eye on, and Eben's death was a major loss. Still, this White is worth a second look.
Saroiya Farseen - A White from the Arad Doman region. She has a sharp and mineral character, and some have gone as far to describe her as 'blocky'. Unusually dramatic and expressive, especially for a White, you may find her in a shouting match over bonding Asha'man or revealing Egwene's strategic acumen to a horrified Hall of the Tower. Myrelle suggests pairing this White with fish, specifically bathtub-fresh trout.
