Imagine if being a technopath isn’t an actual ability?

Instead the first technopath was a talentless elf who was really good with tech. They went to foxfire and when they realized they were talentless and would probably get thrown out of school they made up the lie that their tech skills were actually an ability. The nobility believed them.

Other tech smart people began to say they manifested as a technopath. Some were also talentless. Some just thought they were talentless even though if they hadn’t said they already manifested they would have manifested a softens ability.

Eventually people people who say they manifested are 100% sincere that they believed they were technopath. Occasionally one talentless tech smart elf would come along a lie about it to stay in school but most believed that they actually have a special ability.

Dex is one of those people. But when keefe goes to test him and other technopath s so he know what to look for in future technopath kids he realizes they’re all talentless. Instead of telling the council and actrosizing multiple people he lies to them. To most of the general public except his friends. Including Dex.

After a while to let the revelation sink in Dex and Keefe work together so whenever Keefe finds a talentless kid. Dex teaches they about technology. So that they don’t have to live on the socially outcast. Keefe obviously can’t test everyone. Testing most talents make him feel extremely uncomfortable. So talentless people who don’t lie about being technopaths still exist. But Keefe and Dex help those they can.

The Evermore Grimoire: Psychic Powers

Technopathy is the power to interact, communicate and manipulate technology with the power of the mind. Those that wield this power are essentially psychic and can communicate with computerised informational data, and manipulate all kinds of technology without the need of physical interaction to technology and machines. While most wielders can only perceive, receive, transmit, communicate and interface with technology, stronger wielders can exert psychokinetic-like control over technological constructs, such as computers, robots, hardware, and other working devices that can be termed as "technology". This power is normally achieved through a mental link, with some rarer cases requiring the interface through the physical touch of an object. In a variety of ways, technopaths are considered very similar to telepaths (those that read the minds of others); however, in the case with technopaths, "living beings" are replaced with machines and technology, allowing them to "hear" what a machine is "thinking", and see what they are able to see, establishing a direct line of communication with the machine. Over time this power can grow to the point where the wielder can control the flow of intricate machinery, and assemble or disengage their programming at will and operate most technology at a distance, controlling specific electronics and instructing them, concerning which items to engage or disengage and may be able to use the electric impulses to gently control smaller metal parts.

Hotguy and Poultry Man - Prologue

Ex-hero Hotguy, better known these days under his civilian name of Scar, has still been doing his best to engage with his fans since the incident with his nemesis that pushed him into his early retirement. He attends conventions, chats with people on social media, has even written a couple books, but generally, he sees his hero days as behind him. Until he's approached by an eager young man named Grian, who dreams of being the hero Poultry Man and wants Scar to train him. Hesitant, Scar gives him some pointers, and when he sees potential in Grian's powers, he agrees to mentor him. He just hopes the impulsive lad won't get himself into too much trouble before he's ready.

YEAH started something new, that hero AU I mentioned a while back, idk how long this’ll be but it’s a fun lil thing I want to work on. Gonna be endgame Mumscar but as for how we get there, well. It’ll take some time. And along the way we’ll have Scar training up Grian, who has all the powers of a chicken, apparently

What are those powers? Grian doesn’t even fully know but Scar can help him figure it all out :’)

Willy Watt the technopath.

After his stupid stunt and getting a connection to the robot he stole to control to get revenge on his bullies, he discovered he could actually control almost any technology. all it required was a little extra focus and practice of harnessing these skills.

using his technokinesis he is able to craft almost any device he wants so long as he knows what is needed to create it. waving his hands near other electronics and devices, he can tear them apart and rebuild them, or build something new out of them. he uses this to further his goals in revenge, not realizing the potential he has to use these abilities for good.

Willy learned from the first incident and does what he can to be stealthy, learning from his mistakes and trying not to alert Batman or have anyone else find out and alert him.

Terry gets annoyed fast with Willy, especially when Willy finds out he could almost control Batman's own suit.. yet, something within that suit prevents him from removing it from the wearer.. Terry has to fight back against being puppeteered by Willy to stop him.

after some time, Terry learns that when it comes to Willy, new technology and advancements aren't actually better.. it is best to try something old school and gets Bruce's help to find non techy ways to stop Willy from acting out.

hey something that's confused me and i need a second opinion on: is the "technopath language" an actual language that polyglots just don't understand, or is it just the enlightened language with technology-related words and jargon for the things they make that nobody else knows/cares abt?

My interpretation has always been that the "language" is just hyperspecific babble, but still in enlightened.

Additionally it's the language of machines, which presumably speak differently than people. So perhaps it's a mechanical distortion of enlightened, which is why polyglots can't understand it.

the first (imperfect) analogy coming to mind is pig latin. there's a method to the distortion of English, as there's undoubtedly rules to how the technopath language functions, but that doesn't make it inherently recognizable to English or enlightened speakers. and that also doesn't make it it's own language

and since it's still enlightened at its core, polyglots don't recognize it as different and translate/understand it as nonsense enlightened

that's how I conceptualize it at least--doesn't mean I'm right!
