Oh you're new to Tumblr? Ahhh word of advice then- If I may? It might be a good idea to change your profile picture. Tumblr has a big bot problem. And a lot of the bots have default profile pictures just like yours. A lot of people might see your account in their feed and just block/report on sight. ANYWAYS! So for the Captain Barnacles/Crab comic. I don't plan on finishing it. And the reason why I abandoned it was because the way I had written the comic had everyone acting out of character. The blood was over the top, it was too dramatic,, ugh.. I got tired of my own comic half way through making it. <XD

The comic was gonna end with the rest of the crew showing up, they take the Captain to the octopod, and Peso cries because "I was too scared to help the Captain.." Which is just stupid <XD

Peso would not cower in fear in this situation. Even if Captain Barnacles turned like that and became very scary. Peso has had an extended history of getting it together and braving through anything to help creatures in need. And if his own Captain/friend was hurt? Nothing would stop him. Nothing could scare him away.

In the perfect re-write, Peso would ace this situation. He would approach Barnacles perfectly and calm him down. He would patch the wound, guide him to the gups. Guide him into the octopod and into the med-bay. Expertly deal with the wound and clean up all the blood.

Sure maybe after everything was done he would cry a bit out of the stress of it all. But originally everyone else did everything for Peso because he was too scared to help the scARy CapTAIN OOOO!!

I made one yeeeaaarrs ago when I was into Sonic. But it centered around a Sonic OC of mine. <XD I don't tend to do much insert OC stuff anymore..

I imagine Bonnie would just sigh and try to get through it on his own. And not go to Foxy for help.. Worse case scenario he gets overwhelmed and shuts down on stage and ruins the show. Which is fine by him. He'd think, "Serves them right for puttin me on that stage. Faz-bear entertainment deserves to have their show flop for how they've treated me.. for how they've treated us."

Its hard to say, I didn't ever like.. try to replicate an art style and draw something unrelated. Like- if I was drawing in the gravity falls art style, I was drawing gravity falls stuff. I wouldn't draw in the gravity falls art style and draw random ocs and stuff. If that makes sense-

But maybe one style was easier to draw hands in than another. So I.. might have adopted some stuff..?? I guess??

Taking the quilt off does nothing, the quilt doesn't bring them to life either! Remember that Bibi could talk when he was a still picture and was brought to "life" without the use of a quilt or even any glowy effects. Also Jangles had a quilt as a drawing and was "brought to life" using a pen!

The point I'm getting at is, Pen? Quilt? It doesn't matter. None of these methods actually give the characters life. I do. All these fancy ways I seem to bring them to life are just for show <XD

To complicate it a bit, when I post artwork I'm just sitting there all giddy waiting for the first "AKSJKASAU WAAAAA 😭😭😭" comment to pop up. When I get fanart I immediately get frustrated and uncomfortable. Fanart feels like stealing and usually invokes a negative reaction from me. So if people want to show their appreciation for my work, leaving comments is 100% more effective and preferred. 👍

Sorry tori. I need a reference for his hair pretty much everytime I draw him, which to be fair is so far like 4 times in total. Honestly I have a love-hate relationship with his headband because on the one hand, it's kinda iconic, on the other it's fucking horrendous I'm sorry.

Moving on from the hair, the most fun I have with drawing him would be his uniform (I like the rosary beads and Geta) and his face since he's an expressive character so I get to do a lot of fun stuff with that ( this technically does not count since it's not a part of the design but his points are already kinda low, I felt generous).

Lastly, no, I don't really have many "creative" ideas with him, I had maybe 3 but I never really felt passionate enough to finish them I'm sorry.

2. Mikoto Aiura (2/4)

This feels way too low but I can't really break the rules.

I do need to use references to draw her everytime I do ( which I think is...1 time? That is criminally low what the fuck am I doing) mainly due to her hair, speaking of which, I LOVE HER HAIR I LOVE HER NAILS I LOVE HER EYES I LOVE HER!!!! She is so fun to draw and it's so fucking nice to have a character with some fucking MELANIN OMG HER SKIN I AJDBDJ SHADING TANNED/DARK SKIN IS SO FUN WHY DONT I DO IT MORE OFTEN. This doesn't count since it's supposed to be about their canon design but there are so many outfits you can put her in it's crazy!!! I think it's mainly because she's kinda the only one with an aesthetic idk.

I WANNA DRAW HER ALL THE TIME I JUST DONT FOR SOME REASON WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!??? Off topic I do not draw any of the female characters that often even though I regularly lose my mind thinking about them what's up with that?

Do I get to be creative with her? Not really but that's not her fault that's on me, she's perf I'm just uncreative that's all.

2. Saiki Kusuo (2/4)

He scored 0.5 on everything... How!??? Last I checked he is not Satoru Hiroshi.

Main reason I need a reference is due to the hair which for the most part is a bunch of zig zags and so I don't need it that often.

He is fun to draw, mainly his eyes they are very pretty. I do want to draw him often, I doodle him a lot. I think it's the limiters and glasses. I don't have to worry about him looking accurate cuz if you throw the limiters and glasses on it immediately looks like saiki so Im not that scared about drawing him.

Fun fact a lot of times when I'm drawing him he ends up looking like Kuboyasu. Until I put limiters on. Then all of a sudden it's saiki! Amazing! Chouno Uryoku who?

I guess I'm somewhat creative with him? I have a few ideas laying around, one or two animatics, maybe a fic and a couple crossover fanart ideas. Dunno if I'll ever get around to doing it though.

I SO BADLY WANNA GIVE HIM A 4/4 MAN.

No I do not need a reference I drew him once and then his hair and face were ingrained into my long term memory for eternity in fact i remember it so well I subconsciously gave it to an OC.

Is he fun to draw? FUCK YEAH HE IS. Hair was the problem for all the other characters but not this one, no sir! because THIS MOTHERFUCKER HAS THE HAIR THAT GIVES ME GENDER EUPHORIA. It was my first 'boy' hair cut and I love how androgynous it made me look so looking at him gives me pure joy. And his eyes GOD I LOVE HIS BIG PURPLE EYES SJDIEBD.

I used to want to draw him all the time but I've drawn him too frequently so I need to take a small (miniscule really) break so I can continue liking it. Maybe that'll give me time to draw more Aiura. Anyways I gave him 0.75 on that part but that's entirely my fault for over drawing him. He did no wrong I take the blame.

Can I be creative with him? No not really since just drawing him covered in blood and/or eating sweets does not count as creative in this criteria. But I do have many ideas of just putting him in other universes and meeting my other favs and then the two of them ramble about an interest of choice and are just get to talk talk talk and talk I love them I love their yapping onjdhdiehd and I have a couple of animatic ideas I may never finish. GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HE HAS A 4/4 IN MY HEART.

Ages? Yeah, ... a little over a month now. I know that because I keep track on it. I pretty much keep track on most things. I do this thing where I plan a few weeks ahead and it is supposed to make sure I have more time left because of the planning but it doesn't account for roadblocks such as wrist pain, technical issues with tablets etc-, mental states, stress, health declines or others. So.. I haven't uploaded anything in a while but I never stopped creating ^^! In fact, I'm learning every single day so that I can create more, "better" (subjective) and build a skill-set that will help me be able to make what I want. I felt like I was making art aimlessly, but having a goal helps. Though, by chance, since you're wondering- this week for sure!

And within that planning is of course the Manga! The process is a lot of fun, but also there is science behind Storytelling and I'm using what I know and learning during my graduation process as well in order to create it. That's why I didn't start drawing until I am completely happy with the story (...and now don't mind so much that my previous draft got lost even thought that was so painful lol). I was so ignorant about it though, thinking I could just... create a Manga. Like c'mon. I knew so much time and dedication went into it and yet I thought I could just... do it 😆 but also, it is this dedication that made me able to do most crazy things in life so why not. If I'm going to spend idk how many hours on this then it better matter to me. I don't want Naruto and Sasuke to just drown in some plot, I want them to actively pursue something they care about and struggle, have dark moments and conflicts... heh.

When I first started drawing.. surprisingly I didn't have that many inspirations. I had no clue what I was doing and so what inspired me was the little art-community around me on Instagram because our goals were similar. My goal to finish Inktober, a wish to "someday create a webtoon" and seeing artists around me upload their art was what inspired me. Then, talking about art, each other's uploads, our obsessions- it was all a lot of fun and helped me improve and so did they! Of course you don't have to go there, you can find artists at any stage of their journey anywhere but really try to find artists and art that you like because your style will grow from that and eventually become your own.

I guess a few artists really stood out to me then, but they're literal gods and nothing like me 🥹..they're; wlop, Z ed, Ruan Jia, Zeen Chin, Guweiz and Dao Tong Le. I had a splash art phase where I fangirl'd (still do) so hard over Bo Chen, Sean Tay, Alex Flores, Cheng Du (crow god), Foritis Wang, but there's also Paul Nong, Ley Bowen, Inhyuk Lee... and for storytelling art there's Kan Liu which art I love and Toni Infante and ooooh Astri Lohne's brushwork is amazing as well. Song Nan Li has a few artworks that I've stared at for days and would love to study someday. Jaz Chiang too. Krenz Cushart has a course that I want to purchase because those colors are sublime... and oh, I'm probably forgetting SO MANY right now but I could go on forever tbh. Lemme talk about artists and their art and I won't be able to stop. There have been many Instagram artists that I've followed but I'm not currently active on there until I graduate so I don't really remember but if you're looking for Twitter/SNS/Naruto specifically then you can look through my following-list or my reblog account here @re-tamelee. Asking possibly a stupid question, but i don't really understand the opera symbolism of swan lake I understand carmen as foreshadowing for her and grays relationship and the flying dutchman as foreshadowing for grey's role in the finale but I don't understand swan lake.

Lol I was asking the same thing (while mildly acknowledging maybe its just cause like carmen the opera is an easy peasy pun, swan lake is a recognizable ballet even if youre not into ballet) because idk its fun and even if its not meant to be 1 to 1 im trying to give the writers some credit since the thieving magpie and flying dutchman are absolutely not recognizable ones but while not 1 to 1 have a few beats that can be compared

Which technically speaking carmen recruits gray for a mission where her movements for the electric gates/panels...what are they called again...anyway- will have to be synchronized...like a dancer she says ^^ along with player and gray doing their roles perfectly which they manage to do good enough once

However somethings wrong with the feed causing gray to leave his spot

So at the very least its technically a " the working in unison has been broken"

Carmen really does not want VILE to have him but is also having a hard time separating graham from gray huh.... and in the mission "keep gray away from anything that could transform him back" plays a part because carmens all set on the idea that these conditions (an extremely dumb plan) keep gray safe from VILE influence, promising to put his safety first but ultimately protecting a VILE constructed persona [WHICH I DO PERSONALLY TAKE ISSUE WITH I DONT THINK GRAHAMS ACTIONS THAT DAY IS SO ENTIRELY WITHOUT GRAYS OWN TRAITS >:0...but yeah lol he usually does not care at all about what the right thing is overall] with a lot of romantic insinuating outside of that dance of little swans

Points i guess for carmens underlying suspicions that she puts to rest for the moment but graham just absolutely gone for her by the end

See him having and then throwing away the crackle rod when she looks all :( to help her instead (seigfried in the forest with a crossbow)

i'd love to be treated like a comic book expert, god knows i try to read enough to warrant it! i think a lot of the chalkboard is pretty straightforward so let's take a look at it:

5G averted -> the 5G initiative, or generation five, was a rumoured reboot of the dc universe that had been set up all the way back in doomsday clock 2017 and then unceremoniously cancelled between dan didio jumping ship and the pandemic delaying books & thus putting the fear of low sales in publishers' hearts. what we have left of 5G is wonder woman #750 (which is narrated by alan scott while attending the 1939 world's fair), the flash #750, detective comics #1027, generations: shattered #1, generations: forged #1 and supposedly future state. the purpose of this potential reboot had been to unite all eras of the dcu and make sense of it all over again like zero hour: crisis in time had back in 1994. instead, we got the soft reboot that is infinite frontier 2020 and the current time-related arc starting from the new golden age 2022 #1 because geoff is clearly still set on the generations/legacy aspect (and thank god he is!).

must travel beyond omniverse etc -> this one's less clear but i'd guess it's related to dark crisis 2022 and the return of the infinite earths, we've got an upcoming tie-in (dark crisis: big bang) dealing with precisely this. geoff explains the omniverse and hypertime better than i ever could right here:

the true black adam will show no mercy -> i think the answers to this one may be found within the pages of christopher priest's black adam 2022 miniseries but unfortunately i don't keep up with that one. something to do with malik white surely?

fall of justice league/rise of legacy league -> one again dark crisis related. when flashpoint beyond first came out we were very much still in the very early stages of crisis, it stands to reason that the legacy league is referring to the generation of heroes currently at the forefront of the action (jon, yara, dick & damian, etc) after the death of the justice league in justice league #75 last summer.

why is deathstroke not acting like deathstroke? -> again early dark crisis, the fact that slade hadn't been using his usual methods is a topic of discussion more than once in the first couple issues. the answer is that he's been possessed/infected by the great darkness and he's under pariah's control!

the legions of four worlds/remember earth-3/warn earth-247 -> i suspect this one's something to keep an eye on for future developments but the original legion of super-heroes was wiped out during the continuity reboots in zero hour, giving rise to a different legion until infinite crisis 2005 when a third incarnation appeared, which means up to now we technically have the legions of three worlds -- a fourth may very well be the one seen in the new golden age #1, which showed a future justice society in the 30th century but that's an educated guess at best. worth noting here is that remembering earth-3 is likely referring to remembering its destruction during crisis on infinite earths 1985 and earth-247 (named as such in infinite crisis) refers to the post-zero hour future earth of the second legion of super-heroes incarnation.

the great darkness wants nothing -> very much true, dark crisis: the deadly green 2022 #1 reveals the great darkness to be infected by pariah's madness and grief and having no motive of its own.

beware: he'll find his son do not interfere -> this one's anyone's guess since it's kept purposely vague. one of my theories is that it may refer to the stranger seen haunting helena in the new golden age being per degaton's son to keep in line with the lost children theme, otherwise i can't think of any character currently looking for his son (flashpoint thomas has already found his son after all, while a few others -- jay garrick, roy harper -- are looking for daughters). another possibility is doctor manhattan's son from doomsday clock as he's briefly seen in the new golden age.

his daughter will rejoin the justice society to save it -> helena wayne! the new golden age and the upcoming jsa ongoing both reveal that someone's been interfering with the justice society's timeline across the ages and helena's on a quest to save the jsa, the use of 'rejoin' makes it especially obvious since she hasn't been a part of the team since all-star comics 1976.

thomas wayne will die -> flashpoint thomas wayne was going to die as rip hunter makes it abundantly clear in flashpoint beyond #6 but bruce's gambit paid off and thomas came to accept a world without his son.

who's hunting the time masters? -> the leading question in, again, the new golden age. my guess is per degaton or a possible son (see above) with access to his time-travel tech.

Just a little personal rundown I shared with a moot a while back, if you're looking to get into the Yakuza franchise but don't know where to start bc it's a bit overwhelming in terms of chronology and remasters/spin offs

Disclaimer so many gamers so many opinions etc etc but here's my personal take:

Tldr; start with Yakuza 0 or Judge Eyes/Judgment 1 Japanese dub

Also if you go in expecting a progressive romp don't be surprised if a game series about the literal patriarchy hits you with the literal patriarchy

The series peaked with Y0, it doesn't get better from there so that's the best entry point in my book you need to experience that ending and realize Majima is nothing like what fandom makes him out to be

I could gush on about the tight combat and cool retro vibes but this is peak Yakuza and if you want to experience the series at its best start here

Kiwami 1 and 2 are mostly why mainstream fandom is The Way It Is, I don't recommend starting with those, they're at the bottom of my personal list even tho they feature neat characters (also K2 Majima Saga will emphasize the discrepancy between early games comedic foil Majima and later games Majima)

Y1/2 would make for the more authentic experience I guess, I think the PS2 era retro vibes are extra 👌✨

Y3 is a bad entry point because it's the jankiest and oldest of the bunch and it revolves heavily around Kiryu in the close proximity of children which is a total crime but it does have the absolute Character of All Time so there's that

Y4 is the dryest but I say that affectionately and while the plot gets flak for demanding some serious suspension of disbelief it has amazing character moments and personal faves. Overall a weird in the middle kinda affair technically and in terms of presentation, also quite janky still, but has amazing character moments

Y5 is in my top 3 it's just too much fun but it's quite a bite due to its scale and can be an overwhelming first. Would pay money for a skip Saejima's chapter mod.

You think you don't like J-pop shenanigans you have not played Haruka's chapters. Also Shinada ❤️

Y6 is the last (allegedly, at the time) in the lead character's saga (who is not a Nice Man btw, don't let fandom fool you) so that's a bad entry point too because none of the references will make sense or have full impact, plus it just lacks the series' previous thunder

It just felt superfluous to me, idk I just went through it feeling totally apathetic but that was mostly because the faves had less than 5 minutes of cumulative screentime and the antagonist were not that interesting and the rest is just Kiryu being irresponsible and boneheaded. Someya coulda been So Neat but ended up a being a total nothingburger. Technically a solid game tho.

Y7 I just can't get through I keep rage quitting I can't think of a single nice thing to say about it at this point but your mileage may vary if you like turn based RPGs and if the main characters and story click for you. I just don't vibe with this title and cast and tone at all 🤷‍♀️

Yakuza Ishin is great, beautiful combat, and Hanpeita the main attraction I'm so sad they'll replace the actor and fiddle with the combat system for the upcoming re release. Also not the AU you'd expect it to be, just a stand alone story with recognizable faces & voices. I really thought they'd put more relevance towards the character's AU counterparts but there's not 🤷‍♀️

killer OST tho, great fun all together

Judgment 1/Judge Eyes is great fun and you get some of the best instances of Kamurocho. It also paints the most realistic version of the underworld right up until when the plot takes a deep dive into silly territory. Some pacing issues too. I had high hopes for this spin off series coming out of J1 but then J2/Lost Judgment happened and it's just atrocious with some neat moments and characters scattered throughout. Still I think you'd get more out of J1 if you were familiar with the mainline series first 🤔

J2 I can't recommend, the combat is great fun but they reduced Yagami to ridiculous levels of all round video game swanky man and the story/pacing is horrid and ppl call it grounded and gritty but in terms of tone and chummy vibes I consider it the josh whedonification of yakuza ~~and I'm not even taking about the completely mismatched English dubs~~

so yeah just my personal recs based on my Yakuza journey! With a series this broad and long running different entries will cater to different tastes but honestly you can't go wrong with Y0 and J1

J Watches Arcane: Ep. 6, Random Thoughts/Play-By-Play

Aight, back into the fray we go. I'm under the impression that this episode either includes the Vi/Jinx reunion, or at least has the scene where Jinx lights the flare, so I might not be able to appreciate the animation through all of my tears.

Per usual, a quick disclaimer: These are just things I think about/notice while I watch (including "asdfhjkl I'm gay" and dumb jokes), and aren't intended to be taken as full on commentary. Taking notes like this helps me process parts of the show, and also makes it easier for me to deal with the sad parts by spreading it out (without requiring me to take a full-on break).

(6:17, "duty calls") there is going to be a major ouch incoming in 3, 2, 1... or at least I assume that Jayce will mention Viktor's health. But I kind of wonder how Mel could possibly be out of the loop? Unless Jayce left her room before he found out about Viktor. I had kind of assumed that someone came in to tell them, but I suppose that wouldn't really make sense, given that we see the moment Mel wakes up alone. Maybe someone knocked on the door, and Jayce woke up but Mel didn't, and he didn't wake her up before leaving? Idk

unpopular opinion hours. but i really dislike aews ranking system actually

cause in the name of the fairness of the game, its only meant to boost up those who are already getting the wins and the bookings. the one good thing that comes out of this, is that it actually helps solidify matchups that make sense and potentially build stories on that (as we saw with hangman and swerve and i guess with rodney and oc), but apart from that, its fully designed around the fact that its only going to be benefitting people that are already being heavily featured in the programming. yes them losing to another talent will push them down in the rankings, sure, but when does that happen? when does anything unpredictable happen in wrestling these days? yeah exactly

its also. inconsistent. i dont find this past weeks rankings on their site so maybe im completely off when the roster page is updated but this isnt, but the one from end of january is like. okay hangman and swerve are on the top. 4-0 each. meanwhile they list copeland on the third spot, with 5-0 stats. so like?? i get it that swerve/hangman makes a more compelling story and they are going for different titles, but at the same time isnt copeland supposed to be in any case number one since they lumped all same gender singles titles together now. which he is not. now again idk how much of this changed between january 31st and like today, but still. even if they'd all had a singles match which they won, the stats would still be the same, just minus one point each

..also the trios rankings make no sense (why are ftr/garcia below dark order who have a single win as opposed to 2-1 on ftrs ranks? again idk what happened after this list but yeah its. yeah) i think the womens divisions ranks are the only ones actually in right order, but then again they listed skye above mariah but i havent watched the programming since rampage two weeks ago idk if they have had matches since then to change it (since now its 2-1 to skye and 2-0 for mariah which i think should push mariah above skye but what do i know i guess)

Otherkinnity isn't and has never inherently been related to being delusional. any Otherkin person will tell you that, and i trust them to know more about their own community and identity than... anyone else. there are a few individuals who i know whose Otherkinnity is tied to their delusions in some way (hello beloved mutuals LOL,) but i really dont know very many people who identify in that way & even those who do will tell you that Otherkinnity is not inherently tied to delusions.

identities are literally barred from being considered delusions. here's your proof - this is a specific article i actually found this morning talking about the reason why faith isn't considered to be related to delusions, and thats just because it's a part of personhood which isn't inherently harmful to a person. and also that delusions are caused by mental illness and identity generally isn't, that too.

obviously there are some exceptions to personhood being tied to delusions, like me! but people like me are very far and few between. people saying things like "this may not be considered a delusion, but it should be" clearly know absolutely nothing whatsoever about delusions because... as i said above there's literally a reason that this isn't already a thing. delusions arent under researched. yeah - certain areas are under researched - but this isn't a specific area we're talking about, they're just talking about what defines a delusion and delusions in general. i mean, technically they are talking about a specific kind of delusion? the kind the i have? and if they did literally any research on it they'd find that it is actually a recognized thing but it's not recognized in the way they seem to think it is and learning this would really disappoint them. idk, maybe deep down they know that 1 minute on google will prove their whole argument wrong and thats why they dont use it. who knows lololol

literally just made this account and have 0 followers but hello! anyone that might’ve stumbled across this. long time fan, first time… poster? idk. i write on wattpad (so far it’s social media stories, a (tom holland) peter parker x oc, and a billy hargrove x oc). matt is one of my comfort characters and i’ve finally worked up the courage to write for him! figured this would be a good place to post bits before i start actually publishing on wattpad. of course, i’m finally doing this story and as we know netflix is removing daredevil and the defenders in less than a week, so… love that for me i guess. hopefully i can find somewhere else to watch them or disney+ or hulu quickly picks them up as i’m writing because even though i’ve obviously watched both shows, visuals while i’m writing based on a show or film are always a big help. ANYWAY i’ll get on with it. i’ll do a “continue reading” for the actual story because chapter 1 is just over 1.8k words lol. ALSO last note I swear, this first chapter is pretty plot heavy but i wanted to set up for future chapters and i figured get a lot of it out of the way at once. but my main character isn’t a lawyer, and she doesn’t have a job that deals with any type of law enforcement so it’s lots of original content very very soon!

Cassie groaned and snatched the phone from her brothers hand, unable to listen to any more of his nonsense. "Morning Matt."

"Cassie," he sat up, a small smile on his face.

"What my dear, dear brother was supposed to tell you was that meeting with the real estate agent is in less than an hour, 45 minutes actually. Are you still in bed?"

"Nope," the smile turned into a grin, as he was technically telling the truth. He'd just stood up a good few seconds before she asked that question.

Foggy elbowed her, and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "I'm supposed to tell you that the real estate agent won't be your type, so try not to be so charming."

"What I'm hearing is you think I'm charming?"

"Alright Murdock. I can tell you're smiling. I said no such thing."

Foggy leaned closer, "the lady told me she thinks blind people are God's mistake!"

"I think he gets the message," Cassie laughed, shoving him away. She turned her attention back to the phone call, "alright get up and get ready, we've gotta go bribe a cop. And to my FBI agent listening in on this call, that was a joke!"

Just a short while later Cassie stood there half with shame, as Foggy handed Brett the paper bag. 

"You're right, it ain't the careers," Brett turned to face Cassie. "You have a good day Cass," giving her a small nod before he turned and began to walk the other way.

"Hey why does she get a goodbye? Alright well thanks buddy!"

"One of these days that's gonna get you in trouble you know," Cassie shook her head as they continued walking down the street.

"Nah, we're good pals." Foggy shrugged. "That'll work in our favor, just you wait."

It wasn't long before they reached the correct street, and found Matt waiting just a couple of buildings over. Cassie did the same thing she always did, walked up and stood about a foot to his left, waiting for him to notice.

Of course, he noticed right away. She'd been wearing the same perfume that Matt quickly came to recognize.

"Hey Cassie," he pulled her in for a hug. 

"Morning Foggy. Oh good morning Matt!" Foggy mumbled to himself.

Deliberately ignoring her brother, Cassie once again turned her attention to Matt. "You guys ready to tour your new place?"

"Hey technically your name is in the business too, so really it's all of our new place."

Cassie couldn't help but laugh. "That mean I'm the boss, since Nelson comes before Murdock?"

"Yes ma'am."

Foggy pretended to gag. "No more flirting. Please, I am begging you both," he looked to the entrance of the building and pointed towards a blonde woman waving to them from the front door. "Thank God let's go."

Matt held his arm out, and Cassie linked hers through. Another thing that they'd been doing a while. Starting back in college when Matt figured out that Cassie scared easily, and that any little noise would make her jump. Whenever the three friends were walking home at night, he'd hold out his arm and call himself her seeing eye dog, saying he'd guide her. Now it was just a habit.

Foggy gagged again, but remained silent as he walked ahead of the two.

"—and two offices. Corner suite has a view of the Hudson. You can flip a coin with your partner for it."

Cassie had to hold back her laughter as Matt said that Foggy could have the room with the view. 

As the realtor, who then introduced herself as Susan Harris, stumbled her way through an apology and introduction, Cassie took that minute to walk around.

"Hey Cassie?" Matt called her over when they'd finished talking. "Care to walk a guy around the space?"

They linked arms once again, Cassie guiding Matt around as Susan talked them through the history of the building, assuring them that since the incident, the building had barely been touched.

As Foggy and Susan had a little back-and-forth about the price of the space, Cassie led Matt around the room they'd just walked into. 

"So, what do you think?" Matt paused, turning to face her. "And be honest. If it's ugly you have to tell me. You know, because I'm blind."

"I," She paused, trying to work out exactly what to say. "I think it could use a good sprucing up. But I like it. It's... a fun... fixer-upper?"

Matt held his arm out again, heading back towards the sound of Foggy's voice. "We'll take it."

Cassie's eyes went a little wide, and Foggy stared at him, clearly not expecting that.

"Well— we will talk about it because we're not sure we can afford even this... palace unless we make some changes to our current clientele policies."

"My partner and I are having some disagreements over the direction of Nelson and Murdock. I believe we're here to defend the innocent—"

"And I believe the innocent includes everyone not yet convicted of a crime," Foggy cut him off.

"What do you think?" Susan looked at Cassie, curious. 

It dawned on her that Susan probably assumed she was another partner simply because of her last name.

"Oh I— my last name is Nelson but I'm not—"

"Wanting to disagree with her brother," Matt jumped in. "She agrees with me though."

Cassie stayed quiet just for the amusing look on Foggy's face. Truthfully, she did agree with Matt more. She knew that there were lawyers forced to defend clients that they knew were guilty every day, and didn't even want to think about what it would do to Matt and Foggy if they became those types of lawyers.

As the two men bickered between themselves about who they should and shouldn't defend, Susan and Cassie just stood there, both a little amused.

"Alright!" Cassie claps her hands, drawing the attention to her. "If you are done fighting, I'm sure Susan would like a definitive answer."

Matt puts a hand of Foggy's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. 

Although reluctantly, Foggy sighs. "We'll take it."

Outside, they emerge feeling a little victorious. It may set them back a bit, but but in the end even Foggy admits he feels good about this big step that they're taking.

"We should celebrate!"

"Don't you boys have to get back to work?" Cassie glances down at her watch. "Remember you barely scheduled enough time in your day for this meeting."

"She's right, I didn't even realize what time it was," Foggy slides his phone back into his pocket. "You going home?"

Nodding, Cassie pulls her phone out and mentions she's going to call an Uber. She knows it's cheaper to use her subway pass, but just wants to grab something to eat and quickly head home. When the app shows that the driver is less than five minutes away, she's relieved. "I think so. I'm off for the next three days. The gallery is getting a quick remodel for one of the rooms so I'll probably just be on my couch watching TV until I go back to work." 

Without warning, a guy comes zooming around the corner, riding an electric bike on the sidewalk. Matt pulls Cassie to the side less than two seconds before he rides by them.

"Dude come on watch where you're going!" Foggy yells. "Seriously. Hey, are you good?"

"Yeah," Cassie breaths a sigh of relief. "Thanks Matt."

"Are you sure you're okay?" He gives Cassie a soft pat on her shoulder, able to tell that her heart is still racing.

"Yeah, just a little spooked. Glad you pulled me out of the way so I didn't get run over. Talk about deja vu huh, like college all over again."

Before Matt can respond, Cassie notices something. "Hey, where'd this bruise come from?" She gently puts her hand on his cheek, careful to avoid the actual bruise.

If anyone else had asked that question, Matt would've been quick to shut them down. But he had a soft spot for Cassie ever since they met. And he loved that she cared and asked. Secretly loved it though, he'd never say it out loud.

"Just... clumsy, that's all." 

Cassie raises her eyebrows, clearly skeptical and not sure if she was buying that Matt was just clumsy. But she decided to leave it alone for the moment because a car pulls up, ready to take her back to their apartment.

"I'll see you both later," Cassie grins as she hugs them goodbye. "Nelson and Murdock have their own place! I want to make you both dinner to celebrate, let me know when okay?"

Foggy nods, always willing to accept a free meal, especially from his sister. Cassie always said the kitchen was probably her favorite place, and she was the best cook that he knew.

"That sounds good," Matt smiled, opening the car door to Cassie's ride home. "Maybe tomorrow night if we're not caught up with work?"

"Okay, just let me know. I just went grocery shopping so I won't need to go out and buy anything. Bye guys!"

Once they went their separate ways, Cassie was practically giddy with joy as she unlocked the door to her apartment. She ended up adding a stop to the ride, swinging by her favorite restaurant before going home.

After a quick shower and getting into clothing that was a lot more comfortable, she settled on the couch.

While she ate, she thought about the day. And as it happened quite often, her thoughts turned to Matt. That wasn't the first bruise she'd seen on him. Hell, that wasn't even the first bruise she'd seen that week. She normally always let it go since he assured her he was fine, although lately she was more curious, and concerned. But what could've happened?

After a moment, she came to a small conclusion. Matt couldn't possibly be just that clumsy. Yes, as he often pointed out as if she couldn't have possibly already known, he was blind. Something had to be going on with him though... right?

this seemed like the day to finally get to this ask. 

i don’t mean this in a normative way at all, just factually, being trans does not preclude you (or me, or anyone) from holding harmful/cissexist opinions about transness and/or saying harmful things. and rhetorically i think language is powerful and can do a lot of work on how we think about things (just like the reverse is true. it’s a cyclical thing to me). so i’m hardline against “male/female body” terminology, like i said in the last ask i think that rather men (trans and cis alike) then have male bodies and same for women.

but also scientifically the view is flawed, if only for the fact that it doesn’t take into consideration intersex people, let alone all the other reasons. like. even if we were to classify “male bodies” as “people born with penis/external testes/prostate, and without vulva/vagina/uterus/ovaries”, first of all yuck why, and second of all even that is not even a particularly cohesive category medically speaking? and with cis men and cis women, the statistical variation within groups is just as large as the variation between groups? it’s all a bimodal distribution yk!! like. there are tendencies true of given groups but at anything below that macro level is useless, AND for a given thing being said, while it’s technically true of group A, it’s dishonest to pretend like it isn’t true for a large part of group B too! and again there’s always gonna be those in the middle of that distribution- trying to force those ppl to one side or the other of the distribution is lazy first and ill-advised second because in doing so we would miss so much truth about what it means to be human? like literally just missing out on so much data to collapse what is in truth a range of values into two categories, 0 or 1. i truly do not get the need for M/F at all (this is not an invite for randos to try and come find the one hyper-specific situation where they think actually the distinction is needed don’t you know)

also (sigh sharing about myself to get my point across as always but.) on a basic level like. i have a genetic marker that predisposes me to breast and ovarian cancers, i am acutely aware of my body’s medical realities. but anyone who calls my body “female” is getting decked. that is simply not what’s going on here. if i get top surgery, my risk for breast cancer is still gonna be more than that of the average cis man, and my risk level will go down for me but what’s my risk level compared to an average cis woman then? also like i’m on testosterone so what does that do to the categories’ meanings? what category does my mom go in if she’s had an oophorectomy and a hysterectomy? defining such categories based on physical traits is messy and misguided at best, pointless and harmful at worst.

and to bring it back around to spn i’m still like. i think there IS a lot of yummy trans body magic wrapped up in the angel power lore. but i hold that there should be choice in that? like a storyline where cas offers to change dean’s body (change!! not “fix”!!!!! you didn’t say that i’m just generally noting the distinction bc i see that a lot!!), or where dean asks cas for that..... those hold SO much power. but a cas that just changes dean’s body around in big ways without his consent or involvement in the decision.. idk it icks me out generically and feels ooc for cas for me specifically. because cas is so about free will, rebellion, finding divinity in humanity and in choice/self-determination, and cas is genderfucked too so like. idk i really feel like cas sees dean’s soul in hell and it’s Self Recognition Through The Other time. like abstractly i agree that it’s enticing to think about waking up the way you want to be like magic. it’d be nice to skip on the rough realities of what it would take to get there, if possible at all. but actually thinking about that literally happening?? and not knowing it was gonna happen?? i think it’d be fucked up.

Fate and Phantasms #186

This motherfucker.

We’ve built gods before. Kings. Entire freaking wacky races, each with their own special kind of vehicle. Why the fuck is this guy’s spear the most difficult build I’ve done so far.

There’s so few ways to add other physical damage types to a weapon in D&D that I’m going to have to make up a weapon just so we can do it. It’s just “spear, but deals slashing damage”, but given the fact this build literally would not work with any other kind of weapon. I’m just grateful he isn’t a saber. Honestly DW, what the hell? Casters can travel to other dimensions and stop time, but giving fighters multiple types of damage is too much?

Okay. Spear-induced breakdowns aside, Houzouin Inshun is a Kensei Monk for hopefully obvious reasons, a Battle Master Fighter for an even fancier spear and a bunch of ASIs for feats. We need so many goddamn feats, it’s ridiculous.

Deep breaths. We can get through this.

Race and Background

No mincing words, Inshun’s a Variant Human, ‘cuz we need all the feats we can get. He gets +1 Wisdom and +1 Constitution, proficiency with Survival to help with the whole “wandering monk” schtick, and the Slasher feat, which gives you +1 Dexterity, and when you deal slashing damage you can reduce the speed of the creature you hit by 10′. Also, scoring a critical hit with slashing damage forces disadvantage on that creature’s attacks for a round. He’s also an Acolyte for his Religion training. It also gives him proficiency in Insight for some Knowledge of the Sowa.

Ability Scores

Make Wisdom first. You’re so good at reading people you can point out the flaws in your inner demon’s technique after a single fight. Make Dexterity second highest, you’ve got to be able to fight that inner demon too. After that is Strength, if you couldn’t tell from that full ascension art, Inshun’s pretty ripped. Your Constitution’s also pretty good. I know it technically wasn’t you in Shimousa, but getting your head cut off and surviving is going to give you a couple points no matter the circumstances. Your Intelligence isn’t bad, we just need other stuff more. That means we’re dumping Charisma. Despite being one of the first servants we summoned, I couldn’t tell Friend Point Spear Guy and the Shimousa character were the same character until I ascended them. A petty reason to dump his charisma? Probably. But he’s also given up on alcohol and meat, so he’s probably not super fun at parties.

Class Levels

Monk 1: First level monks get Unarmored Defense, giving them an AC of 10 plus your dexterity modifier plus your wisdom modifier. I mean, it makes sense. Lookit them abs, I bet most people just avoid hitting him on principle, like not messing with art. Ooh, speaking of, you get Martial Arts! It lets you use dexterity when you’re using monk weapons, and they all deal at least 1d4, which grows as you level up. Also, you can use your bonus action to punch people! You have to attack with your action to do that, though. Monks also get all kinds of proficiencies, like Strength and Dexterity saves, Athletics, and History. You’re good at working out, and you’re literally history. Easy picks.

Monk 2: Second level monks get Monk Level Ki points per short rest so they can do all sorts of cool things on their bonus action, like Dash, Disengage, Dodge, or attack twice with their fists. They also get Unarmored Movement for extra speed while not wearing armor (this also levels up as you do), and you can turn one non-monk weapon into a Dedicated Weapon! This lets you pick one non-monk weapon to use as a monk weapon (as long as it isn’t two-handed or heavy) at the end of a short rest. Now your homebrew not-spear is totally okay in the eyes of your DM. Maybe, IDK your DM.

Monk 3: Third level monks can Deflect Missiles as a reaction to reduce damage from arrows and those sorts of things. If you reduce it to 0 you can even throw it back for a ki point. You also set down the Path of the Kensei, which gives you all sorts of bonuses! You can pick certain weapons to be Kensei Weapons, which will be used for the rest of the class’ features. We just care about the spear, but you can pick others too! You can make an Agile Parry if you slap people while holding a spear, adding 2 to your AC for a round, or a Kensei’s Shot as a bonus action to make all your ranged attacks do more damage. You’re also good at writing now, I guess. You know the Way of the Brush.

Monk 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to grab the Polearm Master feat so you can slap people with the but of your spear as a bonus action. This deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage, but since it’s a monk weapon it’ll grow as you level up like your punches. You also could just use your punches, but we’re trying to fit all three damage types into a weapon, dangit! We’re not taking the easy way out! Plus, now you can make opportunity attacks when someone enters your range, not just when they leave it. You can also Slow Fall as a reaction for less falling damage, and you can use Quickened Healing as an action, spending a ki point to take a quick break.

Fighter 1: Bouncing over to fighter real quick for a Great Weapon fighting style, re-rolling 1s and 2s on two handed weapons. You like handling your spear with both hands  and a lot of your damage comes from slapping extra dice onto an attack, so it works for you. You also get a Second Wind once per short rest for even quicker healing. I don’t think there’s a lot of time between “head come off” and “dead”, so you’ve got to move quickly.

Fighter 2: Second level fighters get an Action Surge once per short rest for an extra action on a turn. It’ll be a while until we get our extra attack, so just... hang in there buddy.

Fighter 3: Third level fighters join their martial archetype, and the Battle Master archetype will let you do things with a spear most people can’t do with a whole armory. You get four Combat Superiority dice per short rest, which you can spend in a couple ways. If you make a Precision Attack, add that d8 to your attack roll. For more precision. You can also make a Pushing Attack to add that d8 to the damage and push a large or smaller creature 15 feet away if they fail a strength save. Finally, you can make a Trip Attack, adding the d8 to damage and forcing a strength save on the target. If they’re large or smaller and they fail, they get knocked prone. You’re also a Student of War, so you’re even artsier than before. Go nuts.

Fighter 4: Since we used your last ASI to add bludgeoning to the jumonji spear, this time around we’re grabbing the Crusher feat, for +1 Constitution to round it out and get some more HP (remember, it adds retroactively, so you get 8 extra this level). Also, once per turn you can push a creature you deal bludgeoning damage to 5 feet away if it’s large or smaller. Also, dealing a critical hit with bludgeoning damage grants advantage on all attacks against that creature for a round. Almost like blunt trauma to the skull isn’t great for your reflexes.

Fighter 5: Okay, almost halfway through the build, and we can finally get an Extra Attack. You attack twice per action, good job.

Fighter 6: We’ve got slashing with our homebrew, and bludgeoning with Polearm Master, but  that still leaves piercing out of the mix. Thankfully, there’s an old UA that will help us out here. Grab the Spear Mastery feat from Unearthed Arcana: Feats to beef up your spear even more, and grab that last damage type. You get +1 to attack rolls made with a spear, and its damage dice change from a d6/d8 depending on stance to a d8/d10. You can also use your bonus action to receive a charge, targeting a creature 20′ away from you or further. If that creature enters your reach, you can attack it as a reaction, dealing extra piercing damage. Also using your bonus action, you can increase the reach of your spear by five feet for your turn. Since your weapon is literally “spear, but slashy”, I’m pretty sure it counts for this feat. At least that’s what I’m going to say to keep my sanity. It’s either this or we multiclass into ranger for really dumb stuff.

Monk 5: Fifth level monks get their own Extra Attack, but it doesn’t stack so it’s not in bold. They can also turn those strikes into Stunning Strikes, forcing a constitution save by spending a ki point per attack. If the target fails, they’re stunned for a round. They can also take Focused Aim, spending ki points to add to their failed attack rolls, possibly turning it into a hit.

Monk 6: Sixth level monks get Ki-Empowered Strikes for magical punches. Kensei monks also become One with the Blade, which turns your kensei weapons magic, and you can use a Deft Strike to add your martial arts to weapon damage once per turn for a single ki point. So now you can tack on Favored Foe damage, a Deft Strike, and a Superiority Die to your attack, and all those dice can be re-rolled if they’re 2 or less. I’m not sure how good that damage is yet, but the act of rolling it should be satisfying.

Monk 7: Your last monk level gives us the ever popular Evasion for supercharged dexterity saves. Fails reduce damage by half, successes reduce damage by all of it. You also gain a Stillness of Mind to purge mental debuffs, like charming and frightening.

Fighter 7: Bouncing back to fighter lets you put that insight to good use by Knowing your Enemy, spending at least 1 minute to learn two things about a creature in comparison to yourself. You can learn about its physical ability scores, AC, HP, or total/fighter levels. You also get two more maneuvers and a fifth superiority die. A Sweeping attack deals extra damage to the first target, as well as a second target within 5′ of the first. You can also make a Riposte as a reaction when a creature hits you, making a melee attack and adding the die to damage.

Fighter 8: Use this ASI to complete your trilogy and grab the Piercer feat, rounding our your Dexterity for stronger attacks and a better AC. You can also re-roll one die of piercing damage per turn, and critical piercing hits get an extra die of damage. It’s a bit niche since you only deal piercing damage as a reaction, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t a nice surprise if it activates.

Fighter 9: Ninth level fighters are Indomitable, so you can re-roll a failed save once per long rest. Getting your head chopped off is automatically at least two failed death saves, so make sure you keep this handy.

Fighter 10: Tenth level fighters get Improved Combat Superiority, making your superiority dice d10s instead of d8s. You can use these new embiggened dice  on a Lunging Attack to add 5′ to your reach, or a Parry to reduce incoming damage from a melee attack.

Fighter 11: Eleventh level fighters get another Extra Attack, and this one does stack, so you get three attacks per action now!

Fighter 12: We’re finally done with all those fighting type feats. Now we can use this ASI to bump up our skills. Wait, he has a skill that lets him always get the first move? Dammit. Use this ASI to grab the Alert feat. You can’t be surprised, hidden creatures don’t get advantage on attacks against you, and you add +5 to initiative. Okay, the next one for sure, I swear it’ll be stats.

Fighter 13: Thirteenth level fighters get another use of Indomitable, for up to two re-rolled saves per long rest. It’s not flashy, but given your stats, they’ll probably come in handy. Don’t worry though, now that all those damage type feats are done, we can finally use next level’s ASI to bump up stats properly. What do you mean we’re at level 20?!

Pros: 

For a mostly mundane fighter you have a lot of flexibility in combat, with options for moving enemies around, weakening foes, and preventing them from getting to squishier teammates. You also get the most out of your weapon of choice, but can fight without one if necessary.

While using your Jumonji Spear, however, you can deal pretty consistent damage, with plenty of ways to add extra dice to your attacks, and the great weapon fighting style evening out their rolls.

While fighters aren’t known for their skills, you bring just enough to the table to surprise people, which is exactly how you want to use that insight of yours. You also get a bunch of artisans’ proficiencies, which are more niche but good for character building.

Cons:

Literally every ASI we took this build is a feat of some kind, and most of them don’t even offer half bonuses. That wouldn’t be too much of an issue, except a few of them are completely useless rules as written. Polearm Master is either incredibly niche or something you can already do by being a monk. Piercer only works by spending your bonus action and reaction for a single attack, which probably isn’t your best use of time.

Your maneuvers and kensei features are built around superiority dice and ki points respectively, both of which have very limited uses per short rest. Plan your fights carefully, or you’ll find yourself sputtering out fast.

We’re just using a spear here, they’re not known for their range. If you really have to you can throw it, or use a bow as a kensei weapon, but playing to character will not be fun against flying enemies.

kumiho cookie is so pretty and cool she makes me want to explode. first of all, i LOVE how the actual folklore was portrayed through her character & design (“magical marshmallow fox that wants to be a real cookie” is a super cute take ok it, only has fox tails and no fox ears which is cool bc it’s said that a fox can accidentally let their tails slip out when they’re in a human disguise, tails represented by her hair which is just a cool design choice……. and so much more) also she is so so so transfemme coded. i love her so bad

takes a deep breath. timekeeper is a very cool and unique character who i’m convinced was made for me because 1) she’s insane 2) she’s a woman 3) she’s adorable in a creepy way which i love 4) she has a very steampunk-esque aesthetic which is my comfort aesthetic and favorite aesthetic of all time holy shit dude

i love tiger lily a whole lot but i can’t really explain why. she’s very cute and fun and i love her voice and the way her eyes in kingdom. and i LOVE animal-themed characters + i’m tiger kin so it tracks. and i also love jungle themed characters!! there’s a lot about tiger lily that i just think is so fun. i just kinda wish her flower was an actual tiger lily (i know she’s technically not like made with a tiger lily ingredient because she’s princess cookie’s sister and isn’t even supposed to be “tiger lily” cookie but it makes more sense for her design ok) but other than that her design is pretty and concise (albeit very simple) and i think she’s beautiful. so beautiful. i’m gonna explode

GO ANIMAL THEMED CHARACTERS GO!!!!!! that’s scorpion cookie and she’s (you guessed it) an insane dangerous woman (not exactly insane but dangerous, and i imagine her to be a bit reckless and stuff idk she fits my type well)

she’s so fun and pretty and i don’t talk about her enough. she’s one of the cookies who i want to hear the voice of the MOST i feel like it’d be very high pitched and very raspy and i also feel like it’d turn me into a useless gay mess! as she tends to do. IDK i just really want more content of her so so bad, she’s so interesting but her potential is never tapped into (which is the case with a lot of cookies)

infinity train b4 spoilers below the cut!!

these are just my incoherent ramblings about the book after watching it through twice. 

im curious to know what the crew could have done with longer episodes. i think with the way this book played out, it needed to be expanded upon or some information needed to be cut or rearranged. i absolutely loved min and ryan; their dynamic is so wholesome (can you go wrong with childhood friends?) and their more emotional moments still hit pretty hard.

while i do think that the story and conflict itself could be a metaphor for coming out or being gay, of course it would have been great to actually see that on screen. even with the first episode showing some signs that min-gi might have been crushing on ryan? and that was dropped? also in the art gallery car, it felt like kez was trying to set them up together. she even said like “a little birdy told me...” like she was going to say “a little birdy told me you have a secret admirer” or something like that. either way, i am happy with how their relationship was portrayed and i do agree with some of the opinions i’m seeing, saying that their relationship needed to be patched up before they get together. i guess it would have been nice to see the pining played up more idk, i still really liked this book. 

it just so happens that their story does feel a bit half baked in comparison to the other books, even though the story is centered basically on them and only them (outside of kez)? i don’t know why. there were so many one off lines that i think the book could have benefitted from addressing (even just a tad bit more): that line about how they’re just “two asian guys from bc” and that there are not too many musicians who actually look like them, when ryan says that only min-gi’s parents would care if they were gone (what happened to ryan’s family?), etc. also, i needed to be convinced a bit more that min wanted to be in chicken choice judy. again, it was addressed (especially with his stylophone) but not enough! i want to know what was holding him back from going with ryan. was it his parents? his own expectations? was he simply just too afraid? found traveling to be too unstable? i think they were just going to dive into this with the latter, but it’s only scratching the surface. i really think these conflicts could have been fleshed out so much more. 

and this is something that’s kind of confusing me, if ryan’s growth resulted in his realization that he’s not leaving min, i guess his portal opening up was his last test for him to see if he would leave? was his number going back up to like 150 just the reason why he now has to stay or was he punished because he didn’t leave? i dont think i articulated that correctly...but the numbers were very peculiar to me with this book? their numbers would go down maybe to like 120, 150 in some episodes, but later on, it was stuck at 202. especially after the art gallery car it felt like 202 to 0 to 202 to 0. like at the end of the book, they were still where they started? but i’m not too sure i agree with that. i do think they had grown somewhat over the course of the book? but i guess they were still arguing by the maze episode? see i don’t even know.

i can’t help this feeling that kez is almost like the main character to me. even if min and ryan are technically the main duo, kez is the one who is guiding them from car to car, she starts the conflict of the final episodes and then we get an info dump about her past with morgan and jeremy. i also didn’t like how that was done, but trying to think of another way to tell that story...i’m not too sure how it would work. it may be that there are technically two storylines here: kez and the train plus ryan and min’s relationship. i did like kez and even though, i have to agree there weren’t many memorable denizens (and the pig baby and porcelain cow were pretty annoying), this was focused on ryan and min (and kez too ig). i thought the inclusions of amelia were probably added to be convenient for the plot, but i still do like how they were implemented and we did get to see her gradual take over of the car from the passenger perspective, which was interesting. 

the book does feel a bit underwhelming after the absolutely fantastic book 3, but i love ryan and min so much so i cannot be too upset. what i do like about this situation though, is that i was always so apprehensive to rewatch the show because i don’t think i would ever be mentally prepared again (especially for book 3) but with this newest season, i see myself rewatching it all the time because it is so laid back and lighter than the rest? i am curious if anything happened with production that could have held this season back...but i guess we won’t know lol. of course i am upset about the show ending because i really really really wish that we did get that hazel and amelia season, but alas, i have to be extremely grateful for what we have. my ranking at this current moment is 3, 4, 2, 1, purely because book 3 hit me too hard. it is near perfect and unforgettable to me, but book 4 is getting close...
