This crew really knows what scenes to show to us to get us excited, scarred and intrigued all at the same time without spoiling to much! Once again so many questions! Are they calling Domina Profundis? Where are Rayla and Callum? And what exactly is that gem? Any theories?

This may be obvious but..
Thinking about how the title of The Dragon Prince's ongoing short story series is "Reflections"...
Well, someone other than Aaravos is trapped alone in a pocket dimension with a lot of time to think. Several someones. Just saying. 😏

Rayla doesn't mean to, really.
They're setting out the dishes for a fancy family dinner, special plates from their mom, but her wrist has never been the same and she hasn't been looking after it lately, too consumed with the prison and what they're going to do and—
Her wrist spasms from pain. The plate slips from her fingers. Shatters on the floor.
Her eyes sting. An apology burns in her throat. "Oh Garlaath, I'm so sorry—I didn't mean to—" She clamps her mouth shut—excuses—as Callum and Ezran pause in where they were successfully setting the table and come to look at the plate she ruined. She stoops down, scooping up the pieces. "I'll—"
"Whoa, hey," Callum cautions, kneeling beside her and prying her hands away. More pieces slip through her fingers. "Careful," he murmurs, not the slightest hint of anger in his voice. "You'll cut yourself that way. We should put on gloves, first."
"I can go get some," Ezran chirps just a tad too cheerfully, and she can tell the brothers are exchanging a look over her downturned head.
"That would be great, Ez." Callum tugs her to her feet by the hands, away from the mess. "Thanks."
The young king dashes out, leaving them alone, her pitiful sniffle horribly loud in the grandiose hall.
"I'm sorry I broke the plate," she repeats. "I know it was your mom's."
"Yeah well, the whole point of them was mending broken things." He turns her palms carefully over in his, inspecting them, fingers brushing over hers. "You're sure you didn't cut yourself? There were lots of tiny sharp pieces."
"I'm fine. Really."
He still takes a few seconds to look over her hands though, checking and gently caressing every finger. Her eyes dry but the lump in her throat persists, and well—she's never been able to fool him when it matters, and when he doesn't want to be, an all too knowing look on his face when he catches her eyes.
Callum squeezes her hands. "No one's mad at you," he says. "It was an honest mistake."
"I messed up, though, I should've known—"
He takes her by the shoulders and she looks at him, knowing her eyes are still wide and bright and tearful. "Rayla, it's okay to mess up. It's okay."
"But—" the Silvergrove sits on the tip of her tongue. She swallows it back. She takes a deep breath. The truth of what he's saying goes against every fibre in her being, and sounds too good to be true—but Callum has always been like that, and then went on to keep being true. "Really?" she croaks.
"Really." He guides her into the chair next to his own with a sweet smile, and kisses her forehead. "Besides: now Ez and I can show you how sealing the pieces with gold works. Putting it back together again. It's fun."
The plate would never be the same, but it could still be beautiful, and loved, and whole.
Rayla picks up one of the still-sealed-yet-broken ones, the golden filled cracks glittering up at her.
Callum fits his fingers into her other hand—sealing up those empty spaces as he squeezes, steady and sure. "Rayla. I still love you. Okay?"
She breathes, and trusts, as best she can. She squeezes back. "I know," she says. "I love you too."

The beauty of The Queen's Mercy
I doubt it struck any of us before that Kimdael's collar was of importance. Taken to be just a jewelry element, but never of Sunfire make.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at this, it's been centuries now and the collar is still on her neck in The Bloodmoon Huntress...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there is an interesting implication I've gleaned after reading the story, here come the first thoughts...
In the new short story, The Queen's Mercy, Kimdael goes to Lux Aurea to seek the Protection of Queen Aditi. Protection from the dragons who had driven Moonshadow Elves out of their own forest and "killed them one by one" leaving only Kimdael.
Which we know is a lie, because the moonshadow race is perfectly fine in the show and that does not make her the last of them. Also, multiple times, she pretends to plead while it is evident that inside she is plotting something. That her visit to Lux Aurea is for another crime. She pretended to be meek to gain Aditi's protection. But she is there for a different motive for why else would the Bloodmoon Huntress walk in broad daylight?
As Zubeia mentioned, there was a time when, after the death of Luna Tenebris, the dragons fought over succession. So their wrath is very real. And Xadia did descend into chaos... but Lux Aurea held strong through it. So it seems evident that of someone wanted to seek protection at the queen's mercy, it was the place.
What is interesting is that the dragons killing other moonshadow elves. Specifically the reaction of the other elves in the court:
Tumblr media
It may seem like a rumour because we know moonshadow elves lived and that Kimdael is lying. Or perhaps twisting a truth...
Given reason, the dragons could have attacked the moonshadow elves, if they decided to intervene and help sort the matter. It is possible that the moonshadow elves are hiding from the dragons and that no one has seen them in a while that Kimdael's desperate plea raises the question in the minds of the court elves that it could be truth.
But Aditi sees through it and takes her to the forge where upon, she makes the ornament and puts it red hot, and burning, sealing it around Kimdael's neck. Even enchanted so if Kimdael tried to kill her, the collar will choke the huntress, and thus it binds her to the Sunfire royal line.
Here's where it gets messy. Aditi says:
Tumblr media
As of what Kimdael said, she pledges in return, the remainder of her entire life to repay the Queen's Mercy. And this moment a spark:
Tumblr media
The collar can only be removed by a member of Aditi's line. Kimdael is bound to servitude.
That leaves only TWO people: JANAI and KARIM...
The question is... who will remove it? More importantly, who will Kimdael side with?
One obvious answer is... well, Karim.
Tumblr media
Courtesy to this shot, it seems he will leave Lux Aurea. And Aaravos tempts makes into serving him by offering them what they seek. Karim has drive, he seeks a brighter future for Lux Aurea despite the way his ways clash with Janai's. And to better his own fate, maybe he would have left/escaped after the generals apprehended him.
Kimdael could rarely be accepted on Janai's side as she is obviously with the trio or will be later anyway, and Rayla will not let Kimdael anywhere near her friends.
And because of my previous meta here, between a possible connection with Kimdael and Aaravos, in the sense that maybe he is the one who gave her the longevity, in giving her knowledge of dark magic that she uses for the ritual and that he has kept her alive for some cause. (ie given her the opportunity of immortality that she followed in herself unknowing of a greater role she has to play)
She is a tool to him. One of his chess pieces.
She will be useful to Aaravos after he is free or perhaps she has something to do with the freedom... but anyway, it makes more sense that she joins the Aaravos party, and later or before her, Karim gets bound in it too...
Also it could be that she met Karim first, before Aaravos is released, and they are the ones Amaya, Rayla and Callum are against here:
Tumblr media
Whatever happens now, Kimdael, by the collar, is bound in the narrative.

Runaan does not love his job
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love how they are setting Runaan up for a potential career change here. Would be interesting to see if Runaan gets any closer to answering his own self-doubts once he gets out of the coin.
The short story written by Devon is told from Runaan's perspective, this is especially significant as we rarely get insight into his head.
Here Runaan appears relieved that Rayla doesn't press further, showing that the topic does bother him.
Rayla mentions him having 20+ years of experience on her, which means he may have been anywhere from 8-17 years old when he started official training.
Contrary to many fanfictions, Runaan's wording in blood moon huntress insinuates that he chose to become an assassin (not born into it).
However, it's also possible that he was virtually coerced into learning a skillset and ironically being - "blessed" (or cursed) - with the perfect build, natural athleticism, and leadership that distinguished Monoshadows would see as wasted potential if not put to good use.
My theory is that, in his own hardships (times of war or otherwise), Runaan discovered his innate talent for making life-or-death decisions and continued using this knowledge to benefit the community. But somewhere along the line, he has come to detest what he excels in.
Sometimes the reality of work is that you don't know if you enjoy it, but you fail to see any other options. Maybe he feels undeserving of anything good and subconsciously see's his sacrifice as a form of penance? Or perhaps killing and following orders is the only thing he thinks he is good at? Thoughts?
