A Song of Love and Loyalty (and Loss): General Miyana
So thanks to @raayllum I have been thinking about Miyana. Miyana is a very interesting figure in the cast of a story where the central conflict is shaped around what an individual will do for the sake of love, whether to themselves, to others, or to the world—because Miyana, in her initial arc, is characterized by what she won't do for love. She's very much a facet of the same theme, but in a way that people are liable to find unsympathetic: she doesn't support Karim when he's relatively harmless, to the point that could be considered a betrayal of him, but then she does when doing so means doing serious harm in a definite betrayal of "the good guys."
But I love a complicated woman, so why not do a deep dive on the motivations, story arcs, and thematic future of a character most of the fanbase probably can't name and most of the rest likely hate?
Tumblr media
So What is Miyana's Deal?
Miyana is one of the "Six Horns," the best and most respected of the Sunfire generals, named for the six horns of Sol Regem. The Six Horns, as at least part of their duties, form a tribunal that is is implied to be the highest level of Sunfire justice. Their role appears to be determining innocence or guilt, and the sentencing is left up to the monarch—however, they are also powerful enough to completely displace the monarch if they unite in intent to do so.
In their role as judges, the Six Horns adopt ceremonial regalia that hides their emotions and gives at least a symbolic curtain to their identities, creating a sense of impartiality... but it does not appear to be any kind of secret who they are. Miyana is still one of the Six Horns when out of "uniform," and she and her colleagues freely mingle and discuss things among themselves.
From her role, we can assume that Miyana is smart, politically astute, likely good at reading both people and situations, and has demonstrated loyalty to the Sunfire kingdom (... empire?). It's difficult to tell whether being a warrior is also part of her skillset, because she doesn't demonstrate any combat ability or inclination in her appearances—ex. she does not walk around armed. The "general" title would seem to imply some amount of combat experience, especially with our one other "general" example being Amaya, an extremely hands-on commander. However, given the intertwining of government and military there appears to be in Sunfire elf culture, the position is more strategic and advisory in nature than front-line combatant.
Miyana and Karim: a Secret vs. a Symbol
Miyana and Prince Karim are engaged in a romantic relationship that is secret... but also not particularly subtle, at least on his part.
When Karim bursts into Miyana's... office? Quarters? Whatever, she's the one who is disturbed and slams the door behind him. He doesn't really appear to give much of a shit.
Tumblr media
This makes sense, because Miyana is the one with something to lose if their relationship gets out. She's meant to be an impartial judge, even against the monarch—an entanglement with the royal family significantly compromises her. Presumably, if she wanted to be with Karim openly, she could relinquish her position... but she does not, either because she doesn't want to, or because Karim doesn't want to make things official.
Speaking of...
Tumblr media
Karim, somewhat hilariously, suggests to Janai that she keep Amaya as a permanent consort, rather than officially marry her and have that marriage be a "symbol" of what he perceives as the beginning of the end for Sunfire power and culture. This suggests that it could be Karim who insists on maintaining secrecy over his and Miyana's relationship, assuming he feels the same way about making sure his own eventual marriage is appropriately symbolic for his people.
Personally, given the way Karim behaves, I think it's Miyana who isn't willing to abandon being one of the Six Horns for him—whether because of the power and status it affords her, or because she values being in a position where her service to her people has a strong impact, or because it took her a fucking long time to climb the ladder. Who knows.
But basically, Karim? Not subtle:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at this guy, he might as well have literal heart eyes. He also doesn't avoid openly socializing with her:
Tumblr media
Not to mention that they have matching earrings, for fuck's sake.
Anyway, he doesn't even respond to Miyana's concern about them being seen together when he barges into her space. He's not exactly behaving as if he's committed to the secrecy.
Season 4 Arc: Gently Convincing Your Royal Boyfriend that He's an Idiot
Miyana is introduced in the s4 Sunfire arc when it pivots toward Karim moving directly against Janai. Immediately after being dissatisfied by the result of Lucia's trial and Janai revealing the Sun Seed to him, Karim meets with Miyana and their relationship is revealed to the viewers. She does appear before that, with Karim (the three previous screenshots are from before that point), but this is where they are formally connected.
Tumblr media
This scene, immediately before Karim tells her that he has seen "the truth" that Janai must be removed, is the last time we see Miyana smile until the end of s5. She spends the entire rest of the season going through various stages of concern and doubt about Karim's... frankly unhinged plans.
Tumblr media
She questions him at basically every turn, but never goes so far as to say outright that what he's proposing is a bad idea. She acknowledges that the others of the Six Horns might be sympathetic to his take on Janai's direction, but more than once cautions him that she does not believe they will be willing to turn against her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So how does she really feel? Karim certainly implies that he sees her as his "woman on the inside," secretly feeding him information on the Six Horns and influencing them in his favor, in turn. There's a cut segment that has been referenced in interviews in which Karim cautions Miyana that she must not be the first to vote in his favor, because that will possibly reveal their relationship—which, while he may be thinking about her preference for secrecy, would also kind of invalidate the entire vote.
Miyana, on the other hand, expresses a lot of concern for Karim. She's very worried that he's misjudged the situation and will fail—possibly because she knows she cannot rescue him if he's wrong. And she doesn't, even when he cries out to her, specifically:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I bet that was real fun for her to try to explain. It's possible she could have helped him more after the fact if he hadn't implicated her that way, but it's also entirely possible there's nothing she could do—the monarch, after all, is the one who sentences the guilty.
Even if Miyana is 100% behind Karim's vision for the future of the Sunfire people, at no point does she appear to agree with the way he's pursuing it, and in the end she refuses to go down with him. (Contrast with, say, Sarai... who firmly expresses her disapproval to Harrow about his approach, but then backs him 100% with action.)
Season 5 Arc: Can You Even Trust Yourself?
Miyana does not appear a single time in s5 until she reports Kim'dael's infiltration of the camp to Janai. At this point, Janai entrusts her with concealing and protecting the Sun Seed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is an interesting exchange, since on Janai's end it indicates that she and Miyana probably don't know each other well. Janai at least suspects what they are facing, based on the description of "a ghost"—if she suspects that it's Kim'dael specifically, she would be aware that the only person who could have sent her is Karim. It's not clear whether some of Miyana's involvement with Karim might have come out after s4, but even if it did, it was probably brushed off because she didn't stand with him in his ill-judged coup.
Also, like... what does Janai expect her to say? "No"? This isn't really a question—Janai has decided that, absent other immediate options, she can trust Miyana as a member of the Six Horns to safeguard the future of their people. She's indicating to Miyana that she is being given an incredibly important, secret responsibility.
And personally, I fully believe that Miyana thinks she is being 100% truthful in her answer. I don't think she's been sitting around waiting for the perfect moment to run off to Karim—she loved him, and still loves him, but she chose being able to continue having a role in shaping her people's future over throwing away everything for him. She has no idea where he is or what he's doing. He's gone. Exiled. No longer a factor.
So what changes? The ransom demand:
Tumblr media
Karim sends Pharos with a message that says, simply:
He has Janai.
He wants the Sun Seed in exchange for her life.
He wants Miyana to come to him with it.
For Miyana herself, this potentially changes everything, because what she's hearing is:
Karim is alive.
He is still fighting for his vision, and has gathered allies powerful enough to overcome Janai.
He has some kind of plan requiring the Sun Seed, which likely plays to his actual strengths (he's a mage, the Sun Seed is a powerful magical artifact).
He wants her at his side.
Personally, if I was her, I'd be at least a little worried that he wants her as the delivery person so he can punish her for her betrayal of him... but he's also such an unbelievably soft boy that I can see why that might not cross her mind. Like, his reaction to seeing "Miyana" riding toward him is unrestrained joy and affirmation that his belief in her was correct—if anything, what he's expecting here is that Miyana will convince the others of the Six Horns to agree to his demands, thereby getting him the Sun Seed and reuniting them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miyana, for her part, is now in a position to significantly shift the balance of power. She still loves Karim, and she presumably still believes in his direction for the future. She can bring him the Sun Seed. She can bring him her segment of the Sunfire army. Both of those will significantly weaken Janai's position, while putting Karim much closer to success. Unlike Karim's s4 plan, this is a good bet. This is worth throwing away what she has, in favor of something she could gain.
Removing the Mask: Miyana's Final Turn (So Far)
Bear with me for a moment, because we're going to briefly circle back to s4 and Miyana's position as one of the Six Horns. Throughout s4, there is demonstrable tension between her role and her relationship with Karim, for both of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each of them, in a private moment, contemplates the mask she wears as tribunal judge—a symbol of what keeps them apart. Both of them know that this is her central choice, between her love for him and the duty (loyalty?) to her people that she won't let go. Karim, poor fool that he is, thinks that those will never come in conflict. Miyana spends all of s4 knowing that they will. Maybe even knowing what her choice will be.
In Amaya's deception to rescue Janai, she puts on Miyana's clothing and mask, pretending to be her in order to get close to Karim. Karim completely falls for this, and thereby suffers a second emotional betrayal from the "General Miyana of the Six Horns" mask.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's so happy that his faith in her wasn't misplaced, and then he gets literally hit in the face with it:
Tumblr media
So that sucks for him. However, when Miyana ultimately returns to him, she has stripped all aspects of her Six Horns role, wearing neither her tribunal mask/robe nor her usual fancy tunic and adornments (what Janai was wearing):
Tumblr media
She professes her loyalty to Karim having only the most basic layer of her personas: the bottom-layer red tunic and pants that go under both outfits. She has, it is implied, completely discarded the position that previously held her back from Karim.
She also claims that her loyalty has never wavered (debatable), and equates her loyalty to Karim with her love for him, also unwavering (probably true).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This, the moment when Karim receives her (after literally starting to cry), is the first time she smiles again. She continues to smile through the end of the sequence, revealing to him both the Sun Seed and the army she has brought. She appears to have zero conflict about this—she has shed it all with the shell of her identity as one of the Six Horns.
So What Does This Mean for the Future?
Miyana has explicitly equated her love for and her loyalty to Karim. And what is love, in this series, but something to be tested?
Tumblr media
Even having stripped away all the aspects of her dedication to her people that are related to the Sunfire mainstream rather than Karim's rebellion, Miyana is still going to have to reckon with whether Karim's vision is the future she wants and whether she can support how far he may go for it. She has handed Karim, and by extension Pharavos, a great deal of both magical and martial power. When Karim's ambitions collide with Aaravos's, he will almost certainly double down—accepting what Aaravos offers and/or foolishly believing he can somehow come out on top.
Tumblr media
Miyana is the only one of this trio who is potentially even a little clear-eyed, though she could absolutely be blinded by love. She may follow Karim to the bitter end and self-destruction. She may try to save him. She may try to save others from him. She may realize she can only save herself.
Of the characters with close relationships that carry this loyalty/love tension of loving someone but not necessarily being able to support their decisions and actions, we have:
Soren, who was unable to continue following Viren's downward spiral and instead chose loyalty to his king. His father may be a lost cause, but he still believes he can save his sister.
Terry, who has been left by Claudia with the aggressive guilt that she has robbed herself of his support because she believes he will eventually abandon her, and has several directions he could go: doubling down on his loyalty to Claudia and aggressively following her descent, prioritizing his love for Claudia and focusing on finding a way to save her, or he might cut his losses and fuck off completely (unlikely).
Lissa, whose precise situation we don't know the details of, but who left behind everything she loved and never looked back (or was never allowed to).
Tumblr media
While I'm sure whatever resolution they write for Miyana will be fine (*grits teeth*), at this time I think the best one for her would be a Lissa-style ending. Janai's path may lead to the end of Sunfire history, as Karim put it, but his path will lead to the end of their future. Miyana will eventually recognize that, and that like in s4, she can't save him from himself. However, this time she has already irrevocably cast aside her former position—leaving Karim also means giving up her chance (or perception of her chance) to be someone who actively shapes and safeguards her people's future. If she returns to Janai, she faces exile at best. Might as well skip the painful part of that and just... go. But in having given up her complex loyalty to Janai, and finally separating her loyalty to Karim from her love for him, she's left with an opening where loyalty to herself and her own principles can blossom.

Just thinking about Janai giving Miyana, her trusted general, who she doesn’t know is also her brothers secret sweetheart the sun seed, which is followed shortly by Amaya riding out wearing her soon to be brother-in-law’s secret girlfriends clothes to go and rescue her fiancé from said brother-in-law, who’s holding her hostage and also wants the vampire elf who’s been bound to the fiancé’s family for hundreds of years to kill his sister so he can be king but fails because he didn’t take various important factors into account, again, only for his plans to be recovered by his secret girlfriend who was entrusted with the exact thing he sent the vampire elf after and can bring it to him along with an army. All before Amaya and Janai even get home
The Sunfire royal family has some crazy shenanigans going on man

Any theories on what will go down in s6?
Pure speculation of course, but here's what I think could happen:
After getting Aaravos' prison, the group return to the Sunfire camp (since Zubeia is unavailable) and leave the prison with Janai and Amaya for safekeeping. Thinking the big threat is over, the group then split up--Soren, Zym and Ezran (and maybe Corvus) search for Zubeia, while Rayla and Callum travel to the Starscraper to free Rayla's family.
Rayla and Callum arrive at the Starscraper (maybe a detour to Evenere's Royal Library to find the Void Poem, idk), but learn that both the Corona of the Heavens and the Nova Blade are kept under lock and key by the Celestial Elves. Not only are both protected, both are functionally useless to anyone but the "rightful heir" of these items. Through trials and tribulations, Callum eventually discovers how to find the "light guiding him through the darkness" (i.e. stargazing) and learns that the Star Arcanum was that the cosmos encompass everything--not just the stars, but the other celestial elements (Sky, Moon and Sun) as well as everything on Earth and the Ocean as well. Unlocking this activates the Rune Cube; turns out that the "Great Power in Xadia" it was meant to unlock was Callum all along.
He gets crowned (mirroring Viren's coronation; instead of usurping the throne, Callum is hesitant but ultimately relents and accepts his new destiny for the sake of bringing back Rayla's family). However, in the meantime, either Claudia or Karim's army (or maybe both in a dark twist of fate) invade the Sunfire camp, and either Claudia or Pharos steal the prison. Either way, Aaravos is now actually freed.
Somehow, the trio+Zym and Soren reunite and find out that Aaravos has somehow been freed, and go to face him. Callum, armed with the crown and the sword, is confident they can defeat him for good.
They go to face him, but because of Callum using dark magic a second time, Aaravos can now effortlessly brainwash him and turn him into a drone without needing to pilot him directly as in s4. Rayla has an opportunity to kill Callum to stop Aaravos, but doesn't take it.
As it turns out, Callum really did play right into Aaravos' hands, as this was what Aaravos wanted all along: Freed and with a Star-powered mage armed with a Star-killing weapon fully under his control. Aaravos' plans had come to fruition and he can do what he always wanted; return to the heavens and exact his revenge of the First Elves.
Screen cuts to black. Season ends. Bum bum bum, tune in for season 7!

Runaan's Last Mission
So with the new season coming up and the confirmation that Kimdael is in season 5 I have a new theory regarding Runaan, Kimdael and why I think that killing her will be Runaan's final mission as an assassin.
You see there are some interesting links between Runaan and Kimdael, both are powerful warriors who have achieved the status of legends in their own lifetimes who have taken a number of lives. However, their statuses as legends are very different, Kimdael achieving her status through her greed and cruelty while Runaan achieved his through his selflessness, desire to protect the weak and his deep love for Xadia.
Tumblr media
And then we come to how they both view taking a life. It's interesting to note that both of them discuss and reference the weight of a life in Bloodmoon Huntress:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
However it's important to note the differences in these moments. When Runaan discusses the weight of taking a life he describes it as a balance, that taking a life may end hatred and cruelty but it also prevents any change, love and more from happening. He understands that death ends any chance of atonement or redemption and that this is an important weight and truth that every assassin must understand. That all life is important and that taking it must be taken seriously.
Kimdael however interprets the weight of taking a life very differently. Her interpretation is greedy and self serving, the lives that she takes are innocent, only taken to serve her, her desires and goals. She's willing to take anyone she finds, including children if it means that she continues to live and, given what we now know about her, serve Aditi's descendants. She's ignoring the true weight and value of the lives she is taking, only seeing their true potential in death. She has forgotten to value life.
And so it would be very thematically satisfying to see Runaan, someone guided by love and who truly understands what it means when you take someone's life finally end Kimdael, a fellow Moonshadow elf who has turned her back on this belief.
Tumblr media
And what makes this worse is that she simply doesn't care about her crimes and cruelty anymore. She even taunts Runaan with the fact that she will kill again because she knows that it will anger and stay with him.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Kimdael has become arrogant, believing that she cannot be killed, that she cannot be stopped (except of course by a member of the Sunfire royal family), especially by a fellow Moonshadow elf.
But this again is another reason why Runaan, with the help of Ethari and Rayla and possibly others must be the one to finally stop her. Because despite her connection to the Sunfire royal family and her exile, she and always will be a Moonshadow elf. And it should be a Moonshadow elf who finally stops her once and for all. To fix the imbalance that she has created in Xadia, in Moonshadow society and within herself. And the one who takes her life, who fixes this balance should be someone who understands this balance, this weight, who feels it deep within themselves everyday of their lives.
Tumblr media
Someone who is the complete opposite of Kimdael and someone who would never go down the path she went down. And the elf that best fits this description is Runaan.
It would also be very satisfying to see this be his final mission as an assassin, to finally have the best and most Moonshadow of all Moonshadow elves to defeat their worst, most cruel and corrupted example of themselves. To have a legend of love and protection defeat a legend of cruelty and hate.
And then let that be the end of it, with this final mission to put an end to the worst of their people and one of the most evil elves in Xadia let Runaan retire from his duties as an assassin forever. Let this final mission be his greatest, most important mission, let it be his swan song.
Let it also be his first step towards a new path, a new duty, one which allows him to protect and serve his people without having to kill or to leave his home and the people that he loves.

Meeting the Family
The Sunfire Delegation was traveling back to their territory, plus one king and prince when her homing phoenix found her. On it's leg was a short simple note that had her heart stop,
"It's happening."
Janai spurred her mount into the air to race home as fast as Embertail could fly, leaving the travel party in the dust with the exception of Callum who used his birdwings to keep up the best he could. She heard him breathlessly cast spells behind her, but paid them no mind. She knew there was a full day between herself and Nova Aurora, she had no chance of making it in time, but she had to try.
"Queen Janai!" Kazi greeted joyfully as Janai landed in the palace courtyard, "Welcome home!"
"Where is she?" Janai grabbed Kazi's shoulders in a panic, bird wings came over her hands, transforming into human fingers as they did,
"It's okay, Aunt Janai, take a deep breath-" Callum was out of his mind to make that demand of her, but she tried anyway.
"Where is she?" Panic still came out, but at least she almost sounded like a sane person, "Is she okay?"
"She's fine, Your Radiance! She did amazing! She didn't even threaten you that much!"
"That much?" Callum asked with a grin.
"Well she did say something about...mounting Queen Janai's horns."
"I mean, it's a small price to pay, right?"
"Urgh!!!" Janai had enough of the small talk, she built up heat until she looked like living lava and bellowed, "Where is my wife?!"
"She insisted to be put back in her own bed, Your Radiance."
Servants and nobles dodged out of Janai's way as she raced through the palace to her room and burst open the door, leaving scorch marks on the doorknob as she did so.
Gren was leaning over a bassinet, singing to the little one inside while Nava (Midwife and nursemaid to Queen Janai, her siblings, as well as their mother and her siblings before them) rested nearby. As Gren jumped, Nava looked unimpressed as she got up to bow. This would not even be the fifth time she'd seen a nervous wreck of a royal barge in to meet the new arrival.
"Do not think you will meet your son looking like that, little lava monster." She reprimanded, "And you're lucky you can't wake up your recovering wife will all that noise."
"Son?" the heat faded as a dumb smile took over her face. Nava shoed the human out, Janai barely registered his hug or heard the congratulations before he left.
"Yes, girl, son. Now come sit down and meet your little prince." She gently picked up a swaddled baby, "Healthy as a hotcat and twice as feisty. Well, hold him, he won't break."
"Hello Aviv." the baby looked at the person holding him with tired interest before closing his eyes again, "Look at you, you're perfect."
"Well if you can ignore those extra fingers. I know-I know-" she held up her hands at a glare shot in her direction. They talked about this, any human features her child had were to be spoken of kindly, or not at all, "But I had to get it out once. He will never hear anything cross about his heritage from me. Nor should he hear it from anyone, in my opinion."
"I'm glad he has them, it will be easier to speak his mother's language." She continued to stare at her boy lovingly,
"Yes, we had hands flying left and right. None of us knew what she was talking about. We had to call in Kazi. The human was crying too much to help translate, poor fool. Picture of a proud uncle, that one." a split second of grief crossed Janai, not unnoticed by Nava, "Remember the boy he was, not the fool he grew up to be."
Janai sniffed and nodded, trying not to be disheartened that neither of her siblings were here, fighting to hold the baby and teasing her relentlessly. That mounting her horns comment would have given Khessa so much material.
"He'll be handsome." Nava bluntly changed the topic, "He'll favor you."
"I had hoped he'd favor Amaya." In fact she specifically requested a child who looked like her wife, not that anything could take away her joy right now. She finally got to hold their baby.
"Maybe your little golden knight or high mage will." a little snap startled all three of them in the sitting area, Amaya had woken up, "I'll be outside if you need anything."
"Yes, thank you." She slowly and overcautiously took her soon and sat next to her queen on the bed,
"How do you feel?"
"Like I've been blown up, dragged across the country, locked in a ring of fire, then thrown across the battlefield by a lava monster."
"I will not apologize for that again." she kissed Amaya's forehead, "But I'm sorry you're in so much pain. And I'm sorry I wasn't here for you both."
"You left for an important reason. And I'm the one who told you to go." Told was an understatement, she nearly had to banish Janai from her own kingdom to get her to leave. "But I wish you could've been here."
"So you could tell me about my upcoming dehorning in person?"
"Gren?"
"Kazi."
"Snitch." she glared at the door as if Kazi was hiding behind it,
"They also said you did amazing." And she was inclined to agree.
"It doesn't feel like it."
"But it's true. Look at him, Amaya. He's here and he's healthy. Aviv is finally here." they both turned their eyes to the sleeping baby, and they both started to cry, "Though I have been informed that our child will not look like you."
"Oh really?" Amaya beamed,
"No." though she'd never said anything, Janai always suspected this was the outcome she wanted, "You did this on purpose, didn't you?"
She smirked, Janai kissed her,
"Thank you." she practically sobbed with glee, "I love you so much."

In the scene where Rayllum decide to sneak out of the Sunfire camp (with Bait and Stella), to get to the Bookery by any means, makes me think they would sometimes (try to) pull this stunt to get out of council meetings for a family day in the future, with varying degrees of success avoiding Opeli…?
I think the biggest misunderstanding with Opeli's character is the idea that she could Ever say no to these kids, and yeah they sneak around, but if they literally just like. Ask. She won't say no! I imagine later along the line, they just start asking her to come with anyway BC everyone knows she should take a break. (She tries to say no here as well, but her resolve crumbles with enough wheedling. It's rude to refuse an invitation from the royal family y'know?)

The dragon prince theory; Part 2
Why Aaravos is evil Trust me, the last part may surprise you
Similar symbols:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one thing that is hiding in plain sight is a symbol seen throughout Katolis; on clothes, in the castle, on furniture, weapons and armor alike. Ezran happens to have the interesting symbol on his backpack strap- just like the symbol Aaravos is wearing on his crown... A few other people have also noticed the similarities, pointing it out. Why is Katolis using the same symbol Aaravos has? Does the royal family have more than one connection to Aaravos?
Also when the kingdom first came to be they were already using this symbol. Even stranger; Aaravos appears to be missing from the group of elven leaders while they are fighting Katolis in a war... Where did he go? We know he's not imprisoned yet since Aditi Is still alive and not crumbling out of existence like he said he did to her. So where is he?
Tumblr media
The villan
Every story has to have a villain, and that's no exception for The Orphan queens story as well. So, who was the villain in her story? The Orphan queen traveled into Xadia and saved the world. But from what? Or more like; who?
We look towards our very first clues. At SDCC 2019, the creators revealed The Orphan queen and a cool looking title design for her story. They plan to tell her story in a movie or through the show itself. But there is something strange about the title design- the O in Orphan queen is replaced by the sun primal source symbol.
Tumblr media
Could this be hinting at a connection between her and the Sunfire elves? Who would be the main villain? There is one person: queen Aditi. The grandma of queen Khessa, and the one that Aaravos killed with a flick of his finger. Aditi happens to be alive three hundred years ago when The Orphan queen was around.
Queen Aditi does not seem to like humans one bit seeing as how she was in a war against them. The absolutely strangest thing is Aaravos' hate towards Aditi. When we see him in Hearts of Cinder, he laughs, thinking about the time he killed Aditi and how ironic it was that he was doing the same thing to her granddaughter. His hate seems deep, so insanely deep to me. Aaravos acts like she was a really bad person, even beyond hating humans. She must have done something REALLY bad to make him hate her in that deep of a level. I feel like there is a good reason as to why he is a fallen star. What if... Aditi killed The Orphan queen? Think about it, The Orphan queen has a connection to Sunfire elves, Aditi hates humans, and Aaravos loathes her beyond reason. What if he became who he was because of all of this? You often see a reoccurring theme in The Dragon Prince, someone gets killed, and then sad and angry people want revenge, so they end up killing the killer... Just like Callum said; it's a never ending cycle. Doesn't make sense to you yet? Well, a few years ago, Aaron said something interesting at SDCC 2019 during the Q&A, and then I saw someone on Tumblr make a post about it.
"The name of a very important person to Aaravos will be in the map of a novel, but it will be a long time before you know what that means. A lot of his motivation comes from that relationship."
This proves that there is someone out there that Aaravos cares about, someone important to him. And a lot of his motivation comes from that relationship. So the bad things he's doing, is because he's motivated by that relationship... So what if the Orphan queen was killed by Aditi? What if Aaravos actually cares about her because she was his friend? What if he's motivated by her death? Aaravos may be an all powerful being, but that doesn't mean a vulnerable side to him doesn't exist...

Question and answers from the Offical Q&A’s in The Dragon Prince Discord Server: Questions about humans
Q: “Will we get to see more from the other Human Kingdoms?”
AE: Yes, some!
Q: “Could you tell us anything about the rulers of the human kingdoms?”
AE: Queen Aanya was orphaned quite young, as you know, but here’s something you don’t know: She has an adopted big brother named Grark, who is an exceptional warrior.
Q: “In season 4 we get a glimpse of how the elf-human relationship building is going, but I also really want to know what the situation is like between the human kingdoms after the season 3 finale battle."
AE: Katolis is definitely the most “pro-Xadia” of the Human Kingdoms, and Duren is closely linked to Katolis—partially due to the friendship between Ezran and Aanya. The other kingdoms remain more skeptical and suspicious of Xadia (and elves and dragons). Between the human kingdoms specifically, I imagine there could be some lingering tension between Neolandia and Duren after what occurred… but, I also suspect even King Ahling might concede that Kasef had gone too far and was part of a literally monstrous war effort.
Q: “Are humans still banished from Xadia as of Season 4?” AE: No, they are not! The border that was created between the Human Kingdoms and the magical lands of Xadia still exists, and it’s a real impediment. But the true enforcers of the border were the Dragon King himself and the Sunfire elves, so flow between the East and the West of the continent is beginning to happen again. Still, the established powers in the West are human, and the dominant powers in Xadia remain dragon and elven.
Q: “Will we ever get to see how the other human kingdoms think of dark magic? We've only seen Katolis so far, so I'm wondering if we will ever get to see dark mages from the other kingdoms, if that makes sense?”
EM: The other human kingdoms and their citizens likely have varying opinions about dark magic—just like opinions vary within Katolis itself—but their royalty no doubt sees the benefit of having a dark mage available, and would have an understanding of their capabilities. Take Duren, for example. We can glean from the fact that they came to Katolis for aid during the famine that it’s unlikely they had a dark mage themselves at the time, but were open to working with Viren and leveraging dark magic to siphon warmth from the Titan’s heart for the sake of their people. We can also look at Tressal—one of the playable characters in Tales of Xadia who’s not only my favorite (and best boy), but also a Neolandian dark mage connected to the royal court. And while not much is known about her, we’ve also established that Evenere has its own High Mage who serves as a guardian of their Royal Library.
Q: “Is Viren's title lord a hereditary title which he inherited or one which came with his position as the high mage of Katolis?”
DG: Viren’s title of Lord is one he earned when he came into the position of High Mage of Katolis, yes! Katolis does have some societal stratification, with wealthy families and poor families and all things in between. Viren certainly did not come from a wealthy family, though.

It’d been way too early for the party to wrap up when it did: certainly by Moonshadow standards and, Rayla had gathered, even by human standards too. She wouldn’t have even called it dusk yet when Janai and Amaya’s Sunfire guests had started saying their goodbyes to the brides.
Their wedding definitely wouldn’t be anything like that, Rayla thought, feeling restless watching the moon grow brighter in the sky.
Not that…they were actually getting married. Not…yet.
She leaned back against Callum’s chest, her horns avoiding his shoulder and hitting the bark of the tree at their backs instead. His nose rubbed at her cheek when she did, warming it just like his hands were warming her arms and just like the thought of him being hers always warmed her chest.
Maybe…soon, though?
It’d been on her mind all day, honestly: every time he’d snuck a kiss, every time he’d taken her waist…when he’d suggested they slip away…
As odd as it seemed for a party to end so early, it really hadn’t been a surprise when Callum—shortly after they’d both noticed wedding guests beginning to file out of the open, golden courtyard—had wanted to whisk her away.
For one, his tolerance for parties like this, where eyes were on him—thanks to her—as much as they were on Ez, was low. Of course, she’d felt it too—everyone staring—and she wasn’t exactly a fan, but she’d still hesitated when he’d first tried to pull her away. Callum had assured her, though: they wouldn’t be missed by anyone who mattered. This was the official party—one of two, actually—not the family party, he’d said, pulling her away from their table.
Their wedding probably would be like that, she figured, whether they liked it or not.
They’d finally slinked away at dusk—actually dusk—and Callum had flown them here to the outskirts of Lux Aurea, where they’d been watching the final part of the festivities: fireworks.
And—of course—Callum was captivated.
“Do all weddings in Xadia have these?” he asked, reds and oranges reflecting in the whites of his eyes.
“Nope.” She might’ve been a little more enamored with the lights—they were entirely new to her, too—if not for the dumb, adorable way Callum’s mouth kept gaping open with every new pattern of color in the sky.
Callum inclined his head in her direction, blinking between her and the next explosion. “All Sunfire weddings then?”
“Also no,” she said with a slight shake of her head, sitting up and crossed-legged in between his knees. “Magic like this? It’s a pretty big deal, mage, especially at night. Definitely a royal thing, Your Highness.”
Callum smirked back at being teased, his attention fully given to watching her rather than the show of lights still burning above Lux Aurea.
His eyes on her like that never failed to send a flush up from her chest, especially accompanied by a touch as tender as his fingers on her warmed cheeks…
“Thought we’d be first, you know,” Callum said, and everything about the way he spoke was all at once so much lighter than all of the political considerations that heard many a lecture about and so much more real than all the late night whispering about forever. So…sure and steady, and just a little sentimental.
Her heart pounded, like his saying so—like Callum actually seriously talking about marrying her—was because he’d somehow known how it’d been all she could think about all day. “Yeah?”
“You know that’s what I want.” She did know that—he wasn’t exactly subtle—but…yep, there was the panic all over her sweet dummy’s face. “If, uh…if you do.”
He just…stared at her then, almost…expectantly, and—
“Oh…oh. Is this—” she started and then stopped, feeling the fool for being so smug over his stammering. “Are you—“
Callum looked puzzled.
So…not yet.
His eyes went wide when it dawned on him.
“Oh, no!” he exclaimed. “No. No, I need to get—”
Taking his hand wasn’t quite enough to make him stop—
“There are things—”
—so she kissed him instead.
When she left his lips alone, he just blinked at her—wide-eyed—before the startle melted into a lopsided smile. Callum took her other hand in his, his thumbs’ rubbing at her knuckles the only remnant of that anxiety.
“Soon?”
She clutched back at him eagerly.
“Soon.”

Okay but concept: a Sunfire royal family portrait. It would have to be canon adjacent because bridges are very thoroughly burned but I’m enjoying this too much. Imagine, first you’ve got Miyana on the far left, with Karim next to her, sunk down where he sits and sulking with his arms crossed, glaring pettily at Janai and Amaya, with Janai looking all regal and queenly and doing her best to be above it all, but there’s a little grin at the corner of her mouth because Amaya is giving Karim a death glare and a very unsubtle finger behind Janai’s back. Miyana looks like she’s wondering why she agreed to be here

the panel killed me!!!
(In a good way, of course!!!)
So, we learned a few REALLY interesting things from TDP’s team. I won’t dig in the spoilers at the end (right now), butI’m already screaming for a lot ot non-too-much-spoilery informations we got.
And so far the two who marked me the most.!!!!! (just below if someone don’t want to know absolutely anything about what’s coming)
1) Luc Roderique (harrow) is back to voice another character:
Tumblr media
meet Karim (If I heard correctly) and I love him already and my bet it’s Janai’s brother.
it has too!!!! (and the fact it’s harrow’s voice make me even more thinking that maybe Ezran and the sunfire royal family _if Karim is Janai’s brother of course_ are indeed related... wonder if Karim and Janai will have somehow some parental vibe for Ezran... maybe? would be nice...)
edit:
Tumblr media
well that’s it! It’s Janai’s brother ^^
and... and...
and 2)
BLOODMOON HUNTRESS AAAAART!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(oh and Julia, if you haven’t watched to the end, there’s a really interesting spolier for you. the very last one... :D)
