Honestly the funniest thing about TDP to me is that Rayla for some reason always thinks Callum isn't 100% ride-or-die with her on any given situation. Seriously, she could decide she's jumping off a cliff and he'd do it too--oh wait.

I get that half of it is 'protecting' him but like. Girl he has been ready to die and kill for you since the first snake chain incident. It has not lightened up since. In fact its gotten worse. She's his special little guy and if anything happens to her he will kill everyone in the room and then himself. She physically cannot ever sacrifice herself for anyone because Callum WILL be following her straight into the afterlife in no less than a minute. I'm fully convinced he can and would go even further than Claudia and he'd barely have to think on it for five seconds before shrugging like "damn this sucks, can't believe I have to turn evil" "you literally don't have to--" "no I'm gonna"

And honestly I think that's peak teenagers first girlfriend behavior.

I must say, I love how Callum waited for Claudia to look at him before destroying her potion.

He absolutely could have just emptied it as soon as he grabbed it and then joined Ezran and Rayla, but he chose to wait, to pick his moment.

Whether or not Rayla knew cutting off the tentacle would result in an actual amputation for Claudia, I’m interested to see. (Personally, I think not, though I think even if she did know, or suspect, she would have done it anyway, seeing herself as having no choice.)

Callum, however, looked Claudia directly in the eye and, without hesitation, took away the means she had to breathe.

anyway one thing i think TDP does very very well is how it uses visual storytelling so strongly to indicate character mindset(s) and progression

Claudia's hair is the most obvious example - we don't need to be told she did something fucked up in 3x09 to bring her father back, because as soon as we see more white hair we know, from context and worldbuilding clues, that she did. It allows a lot to be communicated but not directly told, and it carries weight accordingly

Then there's more subtle ones - the sun being behind Janai when she steps up behind the horn ruins vs Karim not having one, because she is the true and fair queen and he is not, as well as her being right in how she handles matters legally and him being wrong in how he handles matters (il)legally.

There are also examples of Rayla's S1 binding - she's literally uneven/unsymmetrical and subsequently off-kilter - as a chain she has to be freed from, and how Callum has the golden bars around his wrists in his arc 2 design that also look like he's wearing permanent quasi-chains (because of course he is)

The crown of Katolis is a literally broken circle/chain, Aaravos walking around being literally heartless, how certain spells appear and a perpetual emphasis on circles (people being surrounded, objects, etc.)

There's a lot being communicated and is one of the reasons, I think, the show is so rich because our brains take it in subconsciously if nothing else, and then we can notice it more consciously on rewatches and subsequently appreciate it, and it just adds to how many layers are on screen at any given time

I'm not ready for the time Ezran grows and gets taller than Rayla.

Soren has always been taller than her so whatever. BUT Callum just now surpassed her, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just nostalgic 'cause it shows how much they've grown up. How much he has grown up since she left. And Ezran still has much growing up to do, so when he gets to 17-20, would he be taller than Rayla?

I'm gonna cry if they show us this. It would be so, so nostalgic 'cause Rayla used to be the taller one, and then she would be the smallest one. And I just can't-

People are hating or questioning Ez on why he wanted to save the baby glowtoads. Like... this is Ezran we are talking about, right? Is there another Ezran I don't know about? Of course, the young king would save baby glowtoads. He's Ezran. He's kind and doesn't like to fight. He always tries to be compassionate and find a solution without violence. His connection with animals is just another sign of how compassionate he is. Also, how was he supposed to know Finnegrin would be that crazy to chase them for three baby glowtoads? Stop hating Ezran!
