where do you sit? (overlap is welcome!) with expansion / explanation. quick disclaimer that this is just my opinion/perspective on things and i’m not saying any of these perspectives are wrong, just what sort of rhetoric/opinions tends to run in each fandom circle.

viren stans: tends to fall into three different subcategories: (1) people who think there’s nothing wrong with dark magic + varying degrees of distaste with how the show writes him / portrays dark magic; (2) people who find the adult characters, ie. viren, harrow, sarai, the most interesting; (3) enjoy viren while also calling him a trash bag. any can overlap with viren/aaravos shipping but subcategory (3) seems to do it the most often

aaravos thirsters: exactly what it says on the tin with not much other defining shared features. heavy overlap table with basically everything else.

worldbuilding: people who are here for the lore, meta, and the worldbuilding, and tend to be quieter in the fandom overall. either has strong opinions on tidebound elves being called tidebound or has zero opinion at all

ruthari shippers: super chill and love their moon husbands. basking mutually in canon bliss since s1 and desperately wanting a reunion. lore and headcanon heavy with common overlap between worldbuilding.

best boy soren: the s1 soren stans who waited for everyone else to catch up, and the table most if not all of us sat at for a day post-s3 at least once. overlaps sometimes with claudia redemption arc and trio lovers.

claudia redemption arc: adjacent to best boy soren, sometimes overlaps with viren stans but not necessarily. exactly what it says on the tin, too. full of sympathy, sadness, and hopeful angst. give her hugs.

janaya stans: really love janaya, most likely shipped them since s2; don’t tend to stray from their ship very often. based on softness and badassery in equal measure. can occasionally overlap with category (2) of viren stans with more interest in the adult characters / generation (harrow, sarai, harrai, etc.) and ships. loves ladies with swords.

rarepairs: somewhat adjacent to claudia; in general, operating under various degrees of popularity and canonicity, as some ships have risen and fallen over time. but mostly for all rarepairs: soren/gren, corvus/soren, claudia/rayla, opeli/amaya, the queens of duren, ezran/ellis, callum/claudia, and some more i’m sure.

rayllum shippers: big and broad in scope, including both very casual shippers and hardcore stans. lots of cute wing fanart and general fanfiction. multiple entry points but boomed after s2. s1 shippers are constantly crying. just wants a wedding and for them to be happy. degrees of pining fic may vary.

trio lovers: most often overlaps with claudia redemption arc, best boy soren, and rayllum shippers. ezran, rayla, and callum are their children and they would die for them. whenever the kids hug they cry and just want to give them therapy / all the good things. they think about that lilo and stitch quote every day. found family stans. sometimes has ezran as their favourite character but any of the trio is fair game

what are your favourite rayllum headcanons?

oh gosh there are so many that i’ll probably forget a LOT of them but

- them p much sleeping within the same vicinity after 3x05, meaning they’re there for each other’s nightmares (A LOT OF WHICH HAVE TO DO WITH THE OTHER BC THAT HURT/COMFORT THO)- the rayllum flying kiss did not end when they landed- they also did not land gracefully, but it was v cute and tumbly- i really love the idea of them conceiving their first kid out of wedlock? not necessarily bc of the ~scandalous implications~ but mainly bc the idea that they’ve just been emotionally married since they were teenagers taking over everything so much that they’re like “oh right, we’re supposed to get pregnant AFTER having an actual wedding WHOOPS” is just so soft and comforting to me (and yes this is something that was cemented by jellyjay’s delicate series bc im weak)- they are CONSTANTLY having Big Feelings talks. even when it starts out casual someone will say something offhand and the other’s “oh no bae is Less Than Happy” senses will tingle and they’ll ask to elaborate and bam! another big feelings time. (esp since a lot of the couples i know kind of do this naturally too and it’s such a good soft part of like, having a Life Partner where it’s not Therapy bc ur both way too emotionally invested in the other but sometimes it’s good to have those talks with someone who can’t be unbiased bc they love ur guts too much. Balance, yknow?)- my personal headcanons about them singing - the most traditional mum thing rayla does is take over lullabies for their future baby- this is basically canon but the idea that they really just learn to love themselves by being with each other? i know personally i’m learning that a) self-love is a journey and not a fixed destination and b) you don’t have to have that figured out completely to have a good, healthy relationship, and they don’t rescue you but they kinda just. help u find the energy to save urself. and they have so much of that energy and they’re just gonna be such solid places of support for each other through all the peaks and valleys of life and i love that for them- rayllum’s go-to terms of affection are “love” and “babe”. no im not biased towards these pet names no one can prove anything- the period of time between nyx dropping them off and them reaching thunder’s resting place took a while and during that time they kissed. so much. borderline making out bc they’re dumb teenagers with no adult supervision and yes they’re responsible but also we’ve MET THEM - the “oh god am i a good kisser” nerves went away real quick when one of them was like “well guess we’ll just have to practice ;)”- (the one who said that was 100% callum have u met that flirtyass prince)- when they do eventually get officially married, they have two weddings: one in katolis with a smallish more formal ceremony and the other in the silvergrove, with all the moonshadow elf traditions and much much livelier- rayllum weaving matching tiny braids into each others’ hair as a way to promise themselves to one another (kind of like promise rings but so much better)- this is. way beyond what anyone is thinking at this point but i see them raising a family in the silvergrove. they probs do more work ie. dragonguard and mage stuff into their 30s-50s but eventually they would retire together in the silvergrove. i just see them really taking to that sort of quiet solitude when they’re in their later years. callum’s hair turns grey and rayla gets so fond of the fact that they match now. and they kinda just spend the rest of their lives quietly and blissfully growing old together.

Some Rayllum headcanons I have

— Their relationship is incredibly slow-burn, since in canon the two of them take such a long time to trust each other. Even by the end of season one, when Rayla is able to have a heartfelt and meaningful conversation and open up abt her insecurities with Ezran, she never does so with Callum. It’s a relationship that’ll have to develop slowly over each season.

— When they both originally realize the have feelings for each other, they try to deny it at first, and are hesitant to even acknowledge them for the longest time since it’s unheard of for elves and humans to even socialize.

— After the war, the two of them begin to constantly find reasons to visit the other, whether Rayla starts staying in Katolis for long periods of time for “peace negotiotiations”, or Callum tagging along on trips to Xadia for diplomatic meetings (he never attends any of the meetings)

— After they finally give in and start dating, they try to keep it as secret as possible, with it being a whole “Romeo and Juliet” type feel. They of course tell Ezran (and Bait), but no one else. Ezran acts as a wingman and always has a cover story for whenever the two of them disappear (he also shows them the best secret passages/hidden rooms so they don’t have to worry about someone finding them and discovering they’re dating)

— When Runaan first finds out, Rayla avoids him for a week, every time she saw him in a hallway or room she’d turn the other way. It finally ended after a high-speed chase, ending in Runaan giving her a long lecture, explaining the consequences that come with dating a human, but in the end ultimately supporting whatever decision she decides to make.

— When they make their relationship public knowledge, there is an unavoidable outrage from both elves and humans, but the two of them are surprised when the negativity is in the minority. Most of those who are against it are the older citizens, ones who’ve fought at the breach, and those who practice black magic. The younger generation, on the other hand, adores their newfound “royal couple”, and it is suspected that a black market dedicated to fanfiction and fanart has opened up in the back streets of Katolis’ capital.

— One time, when walking through the city together (in disguises, of course), Callum sees a painting of a moon shadow elf and a human boy in the window of an art shop, the tag reading “Forbidden Love”. Rayla convinced Callum to buy it and it’s been hanging in Rayla’s bedroom in Xadia ever since.

— It eventually gets to the point where the two spend more time together than apart. Their excuses for visiting each other being ridiculous and often times not making any since.

— Their reunions always play out the same way, similar to the viral “internet friends meeting” videos. As soon as they see each other they start running and embrace each other.

— Rayla became Callum’s favorite art model, and he has several sketchbooks filled with nothing but drawings of his girlfriend.

— Despite them dating, Ezran is never the third wheel. If anything, Callum becomes the third wheel when Ezran is involved, Ezran, Rayla, and Bait are the best at stealing jelly tarts from the kitchens. Every full moon they launch a full-out attack, every time managing to break into the pantry and stealing the sweets prepared for the next day. The baker eventually just stopped making jelly tarts the days surrounding a full moon.

— On Callum’s 18th birthday, Ezran asked him when he was going to propose to Rayla. This turned him into a stuttering, blushing mess. For the next several weeks, the thought of the question turned him into such a dishevled state that he spent several days hiding in his room. Thankfully, in this time, Rayla had to return to Xadia, leaving the day after her boyfriend’s birthday, so she didn’t witness the mess he was in. The thought was so heavy on his mind that he wasn’t able to get the thought out of his head until he’d planned every bit of how he would (possibly) eventually ask her.

— Callum is nineteen when he makes the decision to ask Rayla to marry him. He spent a month going over everything and making sure everything would be perfect. Of course, nothing goes according to plan, and when they were walking through the castle halls that morning he panics when they walk past the area where they first saw each other and accidentally asks her right then and there. She laughs and says yes, of course.

— They get married in June, abiding to the superstition that those who are married in June live a long and happy life together. Their wedding is a royal wedding (as well as the first known marriage between an elf and human in who knows how long) and it’s much, much bigger than both of them would have liked. They had a mix of both Xadian and Katolis wedding traditions, and Rayla began living in Katolis full-time. Callum is about to turn 21, and Rayla is 21.

— When the subject of children is finally brought up, the two don’t really know what to think. They didn’t even know if it was possible for an elf and human to have kids together.

— It took forever for them to have kids, and at several points they thought they’d just have to live a life without them. When Rayla was finally pregnant, they thought it was too good to be true, and waited several months before they told anyone outside of their family. They had a little girl, and named her Sarai.

If we do get a Rayllum wedding in the show, where would you think they'd have it? I personally adore the idea that they have it at the Moon Nexus

Personally I think this **really** depends on how things are done within the Katolan monarchy, because Callum is a prince and any wedding he’s involved would probably have a fair bit of pomp and circumstance attached to it, and I think there might be some expectation for him to adhere to Katolis’ traditions. On the other hand, having it at the Moon Nexus shows a lot of respect for Rayla’s people so I can see that definitely being a possibility, however there are problems with that logistically bc it’s hard to get to and a gathering that large would open the location of the Moon Nexus up to everyone, and idk how Moonshadow elves feel about having something as sacred as the Moon Nexus available to everyone, especially considering that it’s on the human side of the border.My personal headcanon? They elope at the Moon Nexus and have it formalized in Katolis. That way they can have their little private ceremony, and then when they get to Katolis, there’s no point in putting a bigger fancier one on bc they’re already married. It’d start a hell of a scandal, but I think at that point, they’d either not care or find it hilarious.

What’s your favorite headcanon for 1? —- That the only reason these two don’t end up together is purely because they’re both idiots, Lance doesn’t understand his feelings and Keith doesn’t talk about his feelings

What do you like most about the dynamic between the people of 7? —- How they can go from heart eyes one minute to “Did you really just do that you dumbass?” the next. Especially in season 2

When 9 have sex is it more giggly or more serious? —- I feel like this is the one aspect of their relationship that isn’t serious, purely because Sherlock is so awkward about sex and John would hate serious sex

Out of all the ships who do you think have the best chemistry? —- Oh man that’s... hard. Considering they’re the only ones who actually GET ALONG from the get go (not counting Bucky’s mind controlled state) I have to say Stucky, the rest all argue and fight from the start

Which ship has the strongest bond? —- Uhhh okay so I’d have to say Spain and Romano since they’ve known each other the longest and like they get along really well after Romano matures more plus like even after Romano gets independence they stay pretty close and they have the deepest connection out of all the countries

Which ship to you spend the most time reading fanfiction for/talking/writing about? —- Klance, by far (though recently it’s been none of them really)

Which one was your first ship? —- Destiel, because I was shipping that shit before I even watched the show and it’s the second show I watched out of the ones the ships are from

If 6 were to break up, how would it happen? —- If one of them died honestly. They’re too attached to each other and if they ever had a fight Italy would be so broken up and just go crying to Germany would feel so guilty he’d apologize for being mad

Between 3 and 8, who would last the longest if they were in a zombie apocalypse? —- that’s... actually pretty hard. Think I’d have to go with Stucky, though if their nations were intact Spamano would stand a pretty good chance since Spain would probably be a pretty formidable foe. Though there is a pretty good chance their nations would survive.

Does 7 hide their relationship, and if so, why? —- Not to Ezran but probably literally to everyone else because both sides would be so pissed, a human dating an elf and a elf dating a human prince. Unless they go the route of announcing it after they return the egg in order to sort of bring together Katolis and Xadia

What is 9′s favorite date to go on? —- If they go on dates its either to crime scenes or to nice ass restruants

What’s your favorite canon moment between 10? —- Oooooh gotta say when Roman is the one to support Virgil during Can Anxiety be Good? because it’s such a sweet moment between the two

What do 5 argue most about? —- Uh... wellllll when they argue it can get pretty heated if it’s serious issues, however in nonserious issues it would be how Catra RIPS UP THEIR BEDSHEETS ALL THE FUCKING TIME

If you had to pick an OTP which would you chose? —- I can’t

What’s the biggest kink that 1 shares? —- swords and competition. They will train together and no matter how much it happens, Keith over taking Lance in a fight never ceases to make him hard. And seeing Lance train on his own makes keith notice just how fucking ripped lance is under that jacket

Do 8 want children? —- possibly? Id say probably not but would end up mentoring some hero together and then become the kid’s basically fathers

Between 10 and 4, which would you rather become canon? —- Hmmmm I think UsUk simply because if you have Prinxiety it then becomes like “uh wellll; they’re both Thomas???? so how does this work??”

Does 2 do much PDA? And does it annoy their friends? —- The thing that annoys everyone the most about Destiel is that they don’t do PDA but you can tell that they reaaaaaally fucking want to

Which of the ships would you say is the most romantic with each other?—- Spamano all the way, Spain is such a romantic sap and Romano is as well but his are always secret and he surprises Spain with how romantic he can be

How would the proposal between 5 go? —- I think it would be a William and Elizabeth esque proposal after Catra joins the rebellion and gets redeemed. Like they’d be fighting off the horde robots in the big final battle when Adora realizes like this may be the last time they get the chance to propose and so they do a mid battle proposal/wedding with Glimmer appearing and disappearing as their officiator

Who cooks more often in 3? —- They both good, but Romano is so proud of his food that more often it’s him. Plus while Spain has his traditional dishes Romano really likes to experiment with his own dishes and if Spain wanted his dishes Romano could pretty easily make them so I think more often it would be Romano

Rayllum proposal/engagement headcanons you ask?

Belatedly, I like to think that their eternal bond goes unspoken for awhile. They just always figure they'll be together, and they think nothing of it. All either of them knows is that they don't ever want to be separated again.

Then, someone says something about it (I like to think Opeli, idk maybe Callum needs to marry for political reasons or whatever) and suddenly they're both planning surprise proposals for one another.

Both of them mess up multiple times. Things always go wrong, blah blah blah... And one night they just look at each other and say "hey, why don't we just get married?" like they're best friends (bc they are) that just decided to stick together.

They tell Ez and Soren, and just freaking leave. Eloping, my friend! They drop by in Katolis once in awhile, and Ez gets a letter every other week, and no one knows where these losers went (because I have their lives figured out for them and no one knows about it ;) )

I think they’ll end up having a small wedding in Xadia, probably a traditional Moonshadow ceremony (I get the sense that marriage is very important in their culture), but the idea of them eloping is hilarious especially because of how poor Opeli would react. She’s already having to deal with their Crown Prince and High Mage marrying a commoner elf and now he just… runs off with her.
