Chennayil oru naal 2
Genre : Thriller
Movie grabs the attention of the audience from the beginning. Arises many questions in the mind of the viewers and makes you feel thrilled. As the it expands many pieces of a puzzle are revealed. At some point I started wondering whether it is a horror movie with ghosts involved.
Unfortunately the movie didn't sustain in maintaining the suspense it created in the beginning. It all comes crashing down in the end with a very lame climax.
We are left with too many unanswered questions and many scenarios are illogical as per the given ending.
(Spoiler alert) What infuriated me the most is the core concept of the storyline being build up on the concept of genetic engineering which was depicted totally inaccurate in the movie. Genetic modification by "injecting" genes? Is it a joke? The movie casually throws around a name of a "gene" which could be injected. Thinking of it now, maybe we can excuse it as a 'future' technology but that is not how genes work right?
Screen writers should be much more responsible and vigilant than this, rather than throwing around inaccurate details ignorantly.
All in all, if you are okay with wasting your time with an illogical thriller, with some inaccurate scientific details you can go ahead and pick the movie.
100% don't recommend for anybody who expects even an ounce of logic in the movies.

Should you watch Hi Nanna?
The year 2023 saw the Indian film industry flourish most brightly with both Bollywood and movies from the south gaining global recognition and praise. Bollywood saw the blockbuster return of ‘King Khan’ SRK with monumental hits – Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. We saw Ranbir Kapoor breaking records left & right with his highly popular yet controversial movie Animal. Then at the tail end of the year, we witnessed an epic by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail. In the myriad of action and drama, Hi Nanna stood out as the soft yet impactful touch.

Shojo Reviews Movies: RRR
Tumblr media
Guys. THIS MOVIE SLAPS HARDER THAN ANYTHING HOLLYWOOD HAS PUT OUT IN THE LAST DECADE.
It’s a little over three hours long but let me tell you I was disappointed when it was over because it could have went on for five hours and I would have the same opinion. RRR is epic, heartbreaking, stunning, lights that fire inside of you to keep fighting and put those colonizers in their place. I gotta get up in six hours so I’m just gonna write some bullet point thoughts:
- I’ve never seen a movie made and set in a country that has 1. lived through the British Empire and 2. won against it. The pride of India as a nation was practically oozing from every pore of this film. I’ve also never seen a film that villainizes white Europeans in such a harsh and unapologetic way. Every white person had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and boy did it feel good to see each of them get their comeuppance. (Yes, there is Jenny who you could argue is the token “not all white people” character but she wasn’t perfect, she just happened to be just kind enough to be on the right side of things where it mattered.) Comparing this to a film like Django Unchained where you hate Leo DiCaprio’s character but you love to hate him. It’s still Leo. He’s still very charismatic, handsome, despicable, the whole nine. The governor, his wife, his guards, all awful terrible people who you just hate. Period. The pay off at the end is *chef kisses* to say the least.
- Naatu Naatu has the skill and prowess of any Gene Kelly ballet with the energy of an EDM rave. I need to watch it approximately 12,000 more times because it’s absolutely fantastic.
Tumblr media
- The differences between American and Indian cinema is a road I’ve always wanted to explore and RRR was a hell of an introduction. In America having a full blown musical number in the middle of an epic revolutionary war drama would more than likely be seen as a gimmick and yet it feels so natural here. And I’m not just talking about Naatu Naatu. There were multiple songs explaining the internal struggle these men are going through, resetting the scene, etc. and they didn’t distract me in the slightest.
- Nick Fury should have called Bheem and Ram to take care of Thanos instead.
- I still can’t tell what I was more impressed over: the sheer amount of extras, the fight choreography, or those thirty seconds of Ram dressed as Rama jumping out of the flames like the god he is and landing hit after hit with Bheem making Jason Mamoa look like a guppy with that spear just UGH EVERYONE WAS SO GODDAMN COOL.
Tumblr media
Alright I think that’s everything. Go watch RRR. (Fair warning: this movie does contain very high amounts of violence, bloodshed, and racism so don’t go in expecting three hours of cool suspender dancing. This movie is graphic and does not shy away from showing it. That being said, go watch RRR.)

Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) review
Translation: Thousand Elephants
Tumblr media
Well this was a great film to end 2023/start 2024 with.
Before I talk about my personal stuff connected to this film, this is genuinely an amazing film. Barely anyone can compare to Suriya’s amazing double acting in this movie, Simran, Divya Spandana and Sameera Reddy were also great. Harris Jayaraj wrote an AMAZING album to this movie (get more into that later). In general, one of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s best films in my opinion. Only flaw is probably hearing Suriya saying daddy to himself for 2hr 30min straight.
Personally, this movie has been an influence to me my whole life. It was released around the time I was born, and I was a picky eater (still am) so my dad would put me in a high chair and would play songs on his phone which only had ‘Annal Mele Panithuli’ to feed me. When I watched this film, my dad walked in at the start and laughed, saying that he would never forget this movie because of me and how he brought me up with film back then.
Now having watched it, I saw a lot of similarities between Suriya and Krishnan and me and my dad. My mum even admits that my dad spent more time caring for me when I was a baby than herself. If im being honest, I have a greater bond with my dad than my mum. I’m really scared for the future, I’m scared similar events will happen, especially since my dad’s health isn’t the best, but this film brought me strength. As Simran says at the end, “whatever happens, life has to go on”.
I love you dad.
Rating: 4.5/5
P.s I suggest you listen to this movie’s soundtrack at least, it’s beautiful

'Bigg Boss' actress 'Jangiri' Madhumitha gives birth - Tamil News
‘Bigg Boss’ actress ‘Jangiri’ Madhumitha gives birth – Tamil News
“Jangiri” Madhumitha one of the few talented comediennes in Tamil cinema has brought the house down on many occasion in films such as ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’,’Idharku Thaaney Aasaipattai Balakumara’, DeMonte Colony’ and ‘Kashmora’. No wonder as her career began on the hilarious “Lollu Sabha” on Vijay TV. She also showed a different color to her personality and love for Tamil language during her…

Watched a romance for a change. I initially thought it is a Rom-Com, but the storyline runs deeper than that.
The first half of the movie is light hearted with comedies. Then it becomes intense. The climax may make you tear up a bit.
We have a hero (Yaazhan), who breaks all the usual stereotypes of a man. A-stay-at-home husband, who loves cooking and loves to take care of his wife. An intellect, out of the box thinker, who reads a lot and an extrovert. I fell in love with Yaazhan within the span of just 2 hours.
Then we have his wife, who doesn't understand what gem of a guy she has in her hands. (Spoiler alert) Then there is Dr. Malarvizhi, who is supposed to seduce Yaazhan but falls in love with him in the process.
While Dq and Kajal did justice to their characters, I hated Aditi's acting. (How in the world did she become an actress?)
I have conflicting thoughts about the ending. It has a usual happy ending. I thought it would have been different.
Overall, it is a 'good' movie (not the best) to watch.

Essential Kantara Movie Rant
Essential Kantara Movie Rant
‘One of the greatest movies you’ll ever see’. Yes, ever. ‘Masterpiece’. These and a dozen other fulsome praises from moviegoers have helped the Kannada movie Kanthara, now also dubbed in Hindi rake up money at the box office. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time when any movie with close to zero PR, and mostly word-of-mouth pull up crowds to theatres like this. And remember markets are…
