So a post I reblogged about no Dark Link in TotK being a missed opportunity got me thinking about how he could've been implemented:

Dark Link would be patrolling the Depths, and upon spotting you, he will chase you down and attack, similar to the Gloom Hands. But unlike the Gloom Hands, you cannot escape by climbing to high ground and waiting for him to vanish. He will simply teleport up to you.

You can either deal enough damage to him, which will make him leave and reappear elsewhere in the Depths (like how the Yiga flee when defeated), or you can teleport far enough away so he loses track of you. Thankfully, he will not follow you to the Surface.

If he spots you while you're wearing the Dark Link outfit, he will be temporarily confused, giving you very limited time to run away or hide before he figures it out and starts attacking you. Similar to the Lynel Mask.

Also while you're wearing the Dark Link outfit, the Yiga will not ambush you, because they think you're the Hero's Shadow.

Dark Link's number of hearts will match that of the player's, just like in OoT. The stronger you get, the stronger he gets too.

He would also have the smartest enemy AI in the game, besides Ganondorf himself:

He dodges any thrown items or arrows shot at him, which means he cannot be cheesed with bombs. He will simply hop out of the blast radius before it lands. You must fight him in close melee combat.

He will mirror your strikes perfectly if you fight him with a one-handed sword and shield. However, he only wields a sword and shield, meaning you can attack him more easily with a different weapon, like... oh I don't know... a two-handed hammer? 😉

I'm not entirely sure what he'd drop upon defeat... Maybe his sword and shield?

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I'd love to hear other ideas :)

It's so funny to me how determined the series is to pretend Hiccup hasn't killed people/isn't capable of killing people when necessary.

They act like he wasn't out there every day of the week burning and sinking dragon hunter ships with his friends in rtte. He just seems to be very stuck in the mindset of: 'if I don't see the bodies, then who's to say I've done something as morally reprehensible as murder?'

I've been able to put a finger on what's really been annoying me about the current discourse surrounding Izzy's death, and it's the claims that the show "suddenly" isn't happy anymore or about queer joy and how that's a betrayal.

And my thing there is...OFMD has alway been the queer joy show, yes, but it has also never shied away from dark topics, and depicts topics such as the domestic abuse Ed suffered as a child and Stede's childhood trauma and the resulting PTSD from those events very realistically. OFMD is a kind show, at its core, and it never makes jokes that punch down. At the same time, though, this season began with Ed in a self-destructive mindset and actively planning his suicide, culminating in an attempt that was very nearly successful. This is heartbreaking. We've seen Ed sobbing - both at the end of last season and the start of this one - and last season we saw Stede absolutely shaken and traumatized by watching Chauncey shoot himself, right after Stede agreed that it was best he just die. It's heavy stuff, and I'll be the first to admit that it's honestly a bit hard for me to rewatch the first three eps of s2 just because of how hard Ed's suicidal arc hits, but I don't think it detracts at all from OFMD as the queer joy show - it adds to it, because the story is about coming out of these dark places through the power of queer love and community!

In contrast, Izzy started this season in a very rough place, and grew through the power of accepting queer community. His death was narratively important to Ed's arc, and he said himself he was satisfied and wanted to go. Why is this where you draw the line?

It's okay to be sad if a character you like died. That's the point, deaths in fiction are rarely supposed to make us feel happy. But it really just sounds like a lot of people are upset the narrative isn't centering around their favorite yt side character.

Hide and Seek Au - Finn and Martin never leave the island so Finn grows up with his human parents and not in Ooo. On top of that, after a shapeshifting incident gone wrong, Jake ends up on the island and is found by Finn. He has to pretend to be a normal not-magic dog around anyone that isn’t Finn.

Finn becomes accustomed to things that are strange and Magic not actually being that bad, a mix of Jake’s stories of Ooo and his own memories of his past lives resurfacing as weird dreams (being on the island instead of Ooo = no vault = room for the past memories to seep in) helping this process.

And another part of this Au: Dr Gross doesn’t go fully into dangerous experiments (no virus that wipes out a big chunk of the island’s population), but they do grow twisted over time as ‘mutants’ become a subject of her interest. Pretty much she’ll be the big bad of this Au.

The way HC's exit has overshadowed what was the most accurately adapted, and in my opinion most compelling and dramatic season of the show is gonna piss me off for the next several years, I feel it.

It loses even more weight when Henry has gone on record more than once that he hadn't even read the books or known they existed before pursuing the role of Geralt in S1.

Also, it literally cannot be denied that this same group of people who ride-or-die for him go completely silent about Freya, Anya, and Joey---or worse, become misogynistic and racist, when what makes the story of The Witcher great is Geralt's relationships to these people and the way he acts as a catalyst in their journeys.

It's just so annoying. Be upset that he's leaving all you want, but don't make shit up and don't be a fucking dick to everyone else who works on that show as if one of them is the imposter who's responsible for his exit---when the much more likely truth is that Warner Bros. was gonna pay big bucks to have him back as Superman.

It was FUCKINH beautiful. Genuinely a work of art. I cannot believe it took me this long to watch it. It has the classic hlvrai humour mixed with that gorgeous existential dread. It’s really well written with a cool build up to the end. I loved the gnomes, I loved gordyx (that’s Gordon alyx to me) and it was so fucking funny.
