The first thirty seconds of Heaven, Iowa by Fall Out Boy.. are those words??? Or did the songwriter just throw darts at a board of IPA symbols, because..? Issa bop tho even if I have no idea what's being said (a rarity for me, but I actually find it more fun in this case to just mumble random syllables for some reason).

No one keeps track of my hobbies quite like my dad. "Hey when are you going to get back into X?" "Are there clubs on campus for grad students to do Y?" "Have you ever thought about returning to your Z?" "You know, you were so good at W. Do you think you'll give it a go again?" Like JEEZ. I love my father but sometimes I won't even mourn old hobbies until he brings them up. I miss them dearly and feel the emptiness acutely, but what am I to do, lug a tenor saxophone up here? find a community theatre group with reasonable rehearsal hours? go to fiction writing workshops? pay for singing lessons???

LOWKEY,,,,, I'm so fortunate that I didn't go the lab tech route before starting this program because there's a good chance I never would've left that position. LOVE repetitive tactile actions. I could've done that for years, I think. No thought. Just centrifuge, decant, pipette, centrifuge, decant...

Might need to do a sugar detox. Again. Going to have to use all my willpower to not buy sugary breakfast foods and desserts. I think I'm overindulging on processed sugar when I'd really prefer to eat healthier. Might go back to making those little shortbread cookies since they're not super sugary but can still take the edge off when needed...

Finished The Winter King. The climax was very good, and I can see how some of the scenes could be titillating, but idk I just wasn't all that into it (3.5 rounded down). Started up And Then There Were None and I'm SO here for it. Much more compelling than Murder on the Orient Express imo, though it still has the issue associated with introducing such a large cast so early, especially since I don't have a voice helping me keep the different characters straight. I already have my guess as to who the murderer is, and they've been my guess since the second murder, so we'll see.

First week reflection: pretty good! Genetics looks like it'll be a solid class, I'm excited to learn from the prof! Cohort reading seems like it should be reasonable, actually. Lots to learn there too. Python seems alright, today's homework had me twisted up, down, and all around, but I got through it (with help). Major assignment due next week, will take a look at it tomorrow. It's so so satisfying to figure out these problems though. I have some pretty long, full days, but, I think with practice, I may get to the point where I can get most of my homework done on campus during my downtime.

Speaking of which, today I'm SO thankful for Speechify actually. Yes the service is crazy expensive and I will likely look for cheaper alternatives after my year is up, but even on the first day it is helping me speed through some of these scientific articles with full comprehension. It's really nice for helping me get over that activation energy for reading because the service gives me an estimated time to completion for each article.

"There's one thing you should know about me Delia Vincent, I don't date. Got no heart to break and emptiness is safe, keep it that way."

He was adamant in his choices…

…But then things changed.

"Okay, I must admit, being in a New York venue is really fucking cool!" Delia grins taking in the sight around her. She had always wanted to visit New York and see a show on Broadway, sadly finance never allowed it.

"Well it's the city that never sleeps Delia, get ready for a wild one!" Jake laughs patting the shorter girl on the back. "Let's get this show on the road lads!"

"D, wait until tomorrow, me and you will go explore the shit out of the city, you'll love it!" Shevy hypes. "But for now, we need to get this soundcheck done, the traffic set us back a bit but let's go!"

Watching the guys perform felt different this time round. Delia hated that she was attracted to Andy, he was everything she should hate, yet she couldn't bring herself to dislike him. Instead, it's almost as if there was something drawing her to him.

"I built these walls to watch 'em crumbling down. I said, then I lost it all, and who can save me now?"

Lost it all had easily become one of Delia's favourite songs this tour, the lyrics were so vulnerable and Andy always managed to have such a raw edge to his voice, it was almost as if Andy was fighting with himself during the song. It was as if he did not want anyone seeing the truly vulnerable side of him, especially after he had built the whole persona of not caring. Wait a second, Andy was staring right at Delia, surely he wasn't though? Letting out small smile, Andy then continued the rest of the song whilst breaking away the eye contact.

"I stood above another war, another jewel above the crown."

This was just getting weirder and weirder. Delia did not want to be attracted to Andy, she couldn't allow herself to be. She had to try and find a way to get over him...

... But how?

New York City baby! This is going to be a good show tonight boys!" CC hypes the band up.

Currently they had half an hour before VIP began so that band, Shevy and Delia were just relaxing backstage after having some food.

"It's crazy to be in New York, I've always dreamed of visiting here. I would do anything to see a live Broadway show." Delia explains with a slight thrill to her voice.

"A Broadway show? Really?" Andy speaks up looking at her- it was the same monotone voice as always but this time he actually seemed as if he was interested in what she had to say for once, he wasn't harsh or unkind about his comment.

"Yeah, I've always dreamed about seeing The Phantom of The Opera live on Broadway as it's my favourite musical. Even just having you guys play the opening overture at the beginning of the set gets me super hyped." At this point Delia was geeking out a little and she was not ashamed at all. "Whoever came up with that idea I applaud you." This brought a grin to Andy's face.

"It was actually my idea." Andy grins- the rest of the band (including Shevy) were looking between the two in shock. Shock that Andy was genuinely smiling for the first time in years and shocked at how the two people who seemed to clash a lot could have such a big common interest. They all could tell something had happened or will happen, even if Delia and Andy would not admit it. Of course Shevy knew more than the others and this just added fuel to her fire. Andy was changing and for the better; it was all because of Delia even if the two of them did not want to admit it.

"Really?" Delia asks in shock. "Sorry I just did not take you for a theatre fan."

"I love Phantom of The Opera, it's one of my favourites alongside Sweeney Todd." Andy continues to grin whilst getting excited. "Dude we should totally go see Phantom, we have a few days in New York before the next show."

"What?" Delia freezes, she could feel the rest of the room holding their breath in anticipation as to what was going to happen between the two.

"Yeah, you're right, it's stupid." Andy coughs going back to his monotone voice. "It's not like we're friends or anything anyway. I couldn't think of anything worst than sitting next to you for 2 and a half hours."

Just like that, Andy was back to his cold ways. To say it hurt was an understatement, Delia had a feeling of remorse about Andy's sudden coldness. She knew that she should not have been surprised by this, but somewhere deep down, she thought she was finally getting through to him.

"Yeah, of course." Delia felt her smile falter slightly, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing her hurt and embarrassed in front of everyone.

"Where is the spark that won't fade away? And where is the queen to my king of pain?"

Andy was doing it again, he was singing in Delia's direction again. To say she didn't feel the cliche of butterflies would be a lie, instead, she felt as if she could live in that one short moment forever and she'd be happy.

"Wait, is it just me or was Andy totally staring you down just then?" Shevy squeals; she had popped over to the sound booth to check in with Delia and ended up staying a little longer than planned.

"He did it earlier." Delia muttered without thinking about what she was saying.

"He what? When? This same song?" Shevy asks in shock whilst smirking. "I mean, I can't say king of pain is the most romantic song but I guess the gesture is cute, the guy is definitely thinking about you."

"It was during lost it all." Delia states simply.

"Okay I was not expecting that one." Shevy is now genuinely shocked. "I know you don't want to believe it, but this is the most vulnerable I have seen Andy in 2 years, D. Maybe he isn't completely in love with you like I keep joking about but you have changed something inside of him."

"Shevy, please, do not start this. It's bad enough I felt completely embarrassed by him earlier. I can tell he wears a mask, especially to be the star. When he went so cold on me after showing his true self and being genuinely normal, that hurt and it was so humiliating that it happened in front of everyone. The rest of the band definitely suspect something now if they didn't already." Delia focuses on the tech in front of her to try to hide the hurt on her face; she was close to tears but of course she would not admit this nor did she want Shevy seeing her like that.

"Yeah, that was so uncalled for of him, but I wouldn't be embarrassed by it, D. Maybe you just need to try to get some one on one time with him. Maybe grab coffee or something so that you can try to discuss these things with him. Yes, I know he can be difficult to talk to but you will never get this stuff sorted if you don't try." For once Shevy had ditched her joking side and was actually being serious; Delia could tell this by her tone alone. It was very rare Shevy was serious like this, normally she was full of fun and bubbles, when Shevy turned serious you knew she meant business.

Maybe Shevy was right. Maybe the only way to sort this out was to try to talk to Andy. After all, Delia did not want to like Andy but here she was. Maybe if she were to lie to herself and try to let him down easy, it would help her get over him. But at the same time, if Delia and Shevy were reading all of the signs wrong, it would result in major embarrassment. Equally, there was only 2 weeks left of the tour, just over, she did not have to avoid him completely but they could go back to being civil and after the tour she simply never sees him again. Although, is that what she really wanted? Of course not...

... But she knew for her own sanity and to protect herself, she had to get over Andy Biersack and leave him behind.

Seven Wonders

‘You ready?’ a shirtless Aaron came up behind you, making you jump. This had become a pre-scene ritual for you both before he jumped on top of the metal table and adjusted the sheets around his waist.

‘You bet!’ You replied like normal, grinning at him.

‘Then let’s go,’ he said, taking your face in his hand and pulling you in for a kiss as you were both wheeled onstage.

You and Aaron were currently starring in the musical version of Catch Me if You Can and whilst Aaron already had a few shows under his belt and was gradually becoming more well known, this was your Broadway debut. When you first met Aaron, you were nervous because you knew of his steadily growing reputation and you wanted to prove to him that you were just as good as anyone else he could have been performing with. As it turned out, the two of you got along straight away and quickly because close friends. However, with the roles you were playing, it involved a lot of close contact between the two of you and you quickly felt the lines becoming blurred; you didn’t let this interfere with your friendship with Aaron, no matter how much you wanted to know if your feelings were returned.

Little did you know, Aaron had been having the exact same thoughts. He absolutely loved getting to know you throughout the rehearsal process and he couldn’t help the thrill that would run through his body every time you were told to re-do the Seven Wonders number; excited for the opportunity to have his lips back against yours.

After the show, you and the rest of the cast went for a couple of drinks in a local bar to celebrate another week of successful shows. You and Aaron had ended up sitting next to each other, squeezed together on one side of the booth. For the whole time, you were hyper-aware of every brush of Aaron’s arm or leg against yours and every time his head would turn towards you with a grin on his face, you couldn’t stop your breath from catching in your throat.

‘No no because you two have so much chemistry on stage, how can you say there’s nothing going on outside of the show?’ Dan, one of the other cast members asked, already well on his way to being drunk. You and Aaron on the other hand were pleasantly tipsy so still had a grasp of your thoughts, being able to hold your tongue better than your friends.

‘It’s called acting,’ you said, shrugging lightly as Aaron quickly agreed.

‘Yeah, you see, we have to act as if we’re madly in love so the audience will buy the story, otherwise what’s the point,’ Aaron said with a chuckle as he looked down at me, nudging my side slightly.

‘Yeah but you two are something else! You’re always together outside of the show! Personally, after we finish here, I can’t wait to get away from you all until we have to be back at the theatre tomorrow evening.’

All you and Aaron could do was laugh because he had a point; you did spend a lot of time together in-between shows. ‘She’s my best friend,’ Aaron said lightly.

When you all left the bar, everyone went their separate ways apart from you and Aaron who began to wander down the street.

‘You were great tonight,’ Aaron said after a brief moment of silence.

‘Thanks, so were you,’ you replied as light-hearted as you could, trying not to let on how much his compliment affected you.

‘No seriously,’ Aaron said, pulling you both to a stop in the middle of the street, ‘whenever we’re on stage together, I just feel this energy that feels like we’re meant to be on stage together. When we do Seven Wonders every night, it just feels right, like the set and audience fades away and it’s genuinely us just talking about the places we could go together.’

As he spoke, he had been taking small steps towards you until he was close enough to hold both of your hands in his between you. Hearing those words come out of his mouth made you wonder if you were dreaming or not; you never thought in a million years that Aaron would say anything like that to you.

‘I don’t-’ you began but was quickly cut off as Aaron took another step towards you, gently pressing you against the wall.

‘Just tell me to stop and I’ll stop,’ he said before bringing his lips down to yours. His lips pressed against yours with just the right amount of pressure and he smiled against your lips when he felt you return the kiss. When you both broke apart, you looked at each other, knowing that things between you had just changed massively.

‘You ready?’ Aaron said, coming up to you and hopping on the table. Despite this being an exchange you made eight times a week, this time something felt different; the question felt a lot more loaded than any other time.

‘You bet,’ you replied, smiling lightly at him.

‘Then let’s go,’ he said softly, eyes not leaving yours as he pulled you in to connect your lips as the scene began. However, this time neither of you found yourselves wanting to be the one to break the kiss, only pulling apart at the last possible moment.

As you stepped out of the theatre, a hand reached out to grab your wrist. A small yelp left your mouth as your head turned to see who it was who had grabbed you, calming down when you realised that it was Aaron. ‘Jesus! You can’t do that! You could have been anyone!’ you exclaimed as your heartrate began to calm back down.

‘Sorry, but I really need to talk to you,’ Aaron replied, eyes wide. ‘(Y/N), since last night I haven’t stopped thinking about you. You have no idea how much I wanted to bring you back to mine after I kissed you and then in the show tonight, I just wanted to carry on kissing you, I didn’t care if it ruined the show, I was consumed by you.’

‘Me too,’ you said quietly, looking down at your shoes to hide the blush on your cheeks. Aaron’s hand came to your chin and gently tilted your head up so you could meet his eyes.

‘Really? Because if what you just said was true, I’m going to bring you back to mine right now. I need you, (Y/N).’

‘I meant it,’ you said, flinging your arms around his neck and pulling him in to a quick kiss, ‘take me home,’ you whispered against his lips.

The door slammed shut as Aaron pressed you against it when you got back to his. Your leg was hiked up around his waist and his hands were settled on your waist, keeping your firmly where he wanted you. His tongue licked into your mouth as he deepened the kiss which made you whimper against him.

‘God, (Y/N),’ he whispered into your mouth as one of his hands moved down to run his palm against your thigh, pushing his hips against yours slightly. He quickly grabbed your other leg, lifting you into the air and heading over to the sofa before laying you down and crawling over your body. ‘I’ve wanted to do this every night since we first rehearsed Seven Wonders,’ he mumbled into your neck as his mouth and hands worshiped your body.

You both quickly got rid of your clothes until you were both naked, still on the sofa as Aaron kissed his way down your body, pausing when you bucked your hips as he pressed a gentle kiss just above your centre.

‘Aaron,’ you gasped, wanting him to move slightly lower.

He kept eye contact with you as he pressed a gentle kiss to your clit and you threw your head back as you felt your eyes roll to the back of your head as he got to work. His tongue slid through your folds and your fingers threaded through his hair, giving yourself something to hold onto as your legs quickly began to shake as he pulled your first orgasm of the night from you.

He moved back up your body and kissed your neck as you came down but quickly stopped your hand as it began to trail down his body until you lightly held his cock in your hand. ‘Not tonight.’

You laid in silence as you both caught your breath before Aaron stood up, picked you up and carried you into his bedroom where he laid you down and pulled the sheets up to cover your body as he got into the other side of the bed. As soon as he was settled, you snugged into his side, dropping a kiss to his bare chest.

‘Thank you,’ he said breathlessly and you couldn’t help the giggle that escaped your lips.

‘What are you thanking me for, I’m pretty sure it was you who did all the work there.’

Aaron let out a breathy laugh as his arm wrapped around my shoulders, tracing circles on my back. ‘That’s not what I meant. I meant thank you for choosing to pursue theatre and acting. Thank you for auditioning for Catch Me if You Can and being good enough to land the role because I don’t know what I’d do if you weren’t in my life.’

You felt tears prick at your eyes at his words and you buried your head into his chest. ‘Thank you for being the best person I know.’ He dropped another kiss to the top of your head before sliding down the bed, keeping you in his arms and getting comfortable. It was in that position you both quickly fell asleep.

Like even in Kansai people love Shizuoka tea〜^^

Shizuoka is such a great place！

The tea is delicious and we have both mountains and ocean

The seafood is surprisingly fresh and delicious！

I really do love Shizuoka♡

It's not a city that's developing loads and loads and loads like Tokyo！But、that's also something I personally love about it！

I'm glad that I have the opportunity to visit various towns in prefectures across the country！

"Of course! So since we'll probably go to our favorite cafe, how about we go with it's theme? I think it'd be super cute! We can even go for shopping tomorrow to choose some outfits for both of us!"

You could see the stars shining in her eyes at the mention of matching outfits. It was obvious she was really excited for this, especially if you'd be willing to do that with her! And you can't really say no to a date with your girlfriend in favorite cafe~

5 Things that currently make me happy

My friend. I have known her for 5+ years now and we used to be super close. But then we didn't get to spend much time together after 2020. Now we're living in the same city again and I get to see her weekly and it is so good. I always forget how happy she makes me until I see her.

My sister. I will get to see her tomorrow!! We've been apart for over a month so this is big :D

I have started getting back into impro theatre this week! I had been very afraid since covid started and I still am, but it's been so good to get back onto the stage. Kinda daring but exciting!

The sun. It's getting warmer and I've had so much cold and darkness this winter. Seeing the sun shine now just makes me feel so much better. I am dreading the heat of the next months but for now I am glad about every single sunny day.

University. It's all starting to draw to a close, slowly. And so often I sit in lectures just being immensely grateful I still get to do this for a little while longer.

Concert Review: Matthew Sweet

Mon. April 15, 2024 @ The Wilbur Theatre (Boston, MA)

Earlier this month I interviewed Matthew Sweet about his current tour, which is his first time touring since 2019. He said "It’s kind of cool to be starting up again live, it’s got an edge to it. So those shows were really fun to do. And it turns out Debbi [Peterson] is going to do April as well. So people might be into that, a real live Bangle banging on the drums!" I first got into him with this 1991 masterpiece Girlfriend. I’ve listened to that album and his catalog an insane amount of times. When his tour pulled into Boston on the evening of Marathon Monday, it marked my 6th time seeing him live! I first saw him in 1997 at the WBCN River Rave, where he also signed an autograph for me at a signing booth. A few months later I saw him do a free concert at the Hatch Shell in Boston. In 2004, I saw him at Irving Plaza in NYC. In 2012, I saw his Girlfriend anniversary tour at The Paradise in Boston (my #3 Concert of 2012). And in 2018 I saw him at Brighton Music Hall.

The show was heavy on between-song banter, where Sweet gave some stories about recording and whatnot. The most WTF story of all was about meeting Brian Wilson at a urinal in the recording studio they were both at. The setlist was very into Girlfriend (he played 7 of the 15 songs on that album) and Altered Beast. But there was a lot of other deep cuts like "If Time Permits" off of In Reverse, "Pretty Please" from Tomorrow Forever, and "Byrdgirl" from Sunshine Lies. Of course he closed with "Sick of Myself" too.

This was among my favorite Matthew Sweet concerts. Easily! Having Debbi Peterson there was super cool. Someone in the audience shouted out in between songs to play "Going Down to Liverpool", the Katrina and the Waves song The Bangles covered with Debbi singing lead. Can you imagine the sparks that would have flown if Matthew Sweet and his band did that song with Debbi singing and playing? Even without that, it was super exciting to hear that his 90s-centric hits played live after not seeing him in concert for numerous years! Can't wait for the next tour!

i don't think i will read today, cuzzzzz:

i spent all day with my friends, and i think tomorrow might be similar, soooo. some more nonproductivity, for me. scary but it might be good, i'm getting more excited to get back to music, so i think this way it'll feel really positive or something?

anyway look at this snoopy:

i kept dancing with him. it's like one of the best toys i've ever seen. i love him.

we also went to this new bar that opened tonight and like, the place was giving the exact moment when warped tour sk8rs found out about brostep and that became their life, the exact convergence of warped tour and edc, weird place. kind of interesting to look at, freaked me out, there were kids there, no one we know got carded, bad vibe in that way, especially seeing the kids looking sad. this guy in a yellow supreme hoodie was flying around a drone, i kept staring at it and giving it the finger, no one was supposed to acknowledge it, but i kept at it. i had to be there to hate it, and fuck up his footage. he was so insane. something about someone being hired for that, it's so fucked.

my friend and i also did this thing tonight, this insane improv bit, about brothers. i think i want to make it like a real thing. my gf said it reminded her of beckett, so that must mean we were onto something. i want to make a script, and record it. i dunno, it'll be weird. it's definitely more theatre than film, which i like. digital record of a moving theatre.

anyways i'm super tired now so:

hi! i feel the being tired part, i did not want to go into work today... that sounds amazing! i took a personal day last friday for the eras tour movie so i have to go to work tomorrow but it's casual friday so i'm gonna wear my karma is a cat hoodie!

ooooooooooo, i love reading, but i typically stick to fantasy, but i'm a sucker for a good romance book too! i've been re-reading some of my favorites and remembering why i love them so much!

i 100% feel that, color is such an important thing to me and i'm so picky with how my bracelets look, even though they're super basic! I LOVE SEEING PEOPLE'S EDITS BECAUSE I AM NOT THAT TALENTED!!!! a lot of my blog is queued edits that i love so so much and want to share with everyone!

when is your show? i remember when i was getting closer to my show, it was so unbelievable that it was coming up so fast. i got my tickets in december and i was like "i have so much time!" and then bam! it was july and time for my show. it's also soooo surreal to be at the stadium just waiting in anticipation, hearing the pre-show music, I miss it everyday!

agreed! apparently some people on tiktok (heard this from a coworker) that people were watching saw and the theater next to them was taylor which i died laughing about! it was genuinely so much fun and it was just amazing to get to see everyone from young kids to adults in their 40's+ there for taylor, it truly shows her wide variety of fans!

I'm glad you like it!!!! I found it by accident once when I was stoned and I about died from laughing so hard! There's like a whole series on YouTube too!!
