but hear me out.

Lumen from @quirkle2's Suncaster AU! I picked him because she looked like she has the softest hair (sorry Warriors). Jay always does a ton of fine detail and I don't think I got them all, but I still love how he turned out!

Victory and defeat echo across Quel’Thalas as thalassian armies move into position on several different war fronts. While the armies of the Emberlight were able to hold the Blacksun Gate against a large tide of amani trolls that threatened to break through. In Sunstrider Isle, an evening attack turned sour as Sunguard forces were stopped and routed by Dame Elizabeth Everleigh of Stormwind. 

Within the Emberlight, several noble figures gathered at the Blacksun Gate ready to defend the walls of the mighty citadel. Forces loyal to the Lord Paramount of the Emberlight Izulde Netherstar were placed under command of the fabled Idrya Blacksun, Warden of the Blacksun Gate. 

After several waves, the Amani were ultimately defeated but at the cost of hundreds of elven warriors. Lord Izulde suffered grievous wounds as a rampaging troll god-hulk burst through the lines and took him unaware. 

Lady Idrya has rallied the remaining defenders and they seek to make repairs on the damaged gate, but with Izulde wounded, the armies there are forced to remain within the province. 

Further north, the Sunguard forces pressed into Sunstrider Isle hoping to drive deep into the Alliance lines and to capture many of the Stormwindian commanders. While outnumbered, the Sunguard forces made early gains by killing Sir Bartholomew who held the bridge connecting to the island in a duel. 

The armies of Stormwind were able to rally their forces despite their recent considerable losses with the attempt to secure the Emberglades to the north. Though depleted, the Alliance still had a numerical advantage and were able to envelop the Horde army and defeat many of their commanders. The famed commanders Lirelle Dawnbrook and Sederis Emberheart were both killed in the ensuing battle while Tassandria Dor’wynn was wounded and her whereabouts remain unknown. Captured was Lady Azriah Therlyn, commander of the Suncasters who was taken to Falthrien Academy. 

Now coming the morning before the Siege of Sunsail Anchorage, the Sunguard looks to broker a meeting with Admiral Alphonso Drake, the high command of the Alliance in the Thalassian theatre.

Sunspear Challenge: Come and Face Me

In the Dawnspire, pamphlets could be seen scattered throughout its winding halls. Its text was plain, and looked as if it was written by someone who prefers to hold a weapon rather than a quill. Nevertheless, the message was direct:

To all Pathfinders, Suncasters, and Dawnmenders, 

During my time in the Grimtotem Tribe, one of the harshest lessons I learned was this: To defeat your enemy, you must first understand your enemy. When the tribe and I fought against the Horde in the Stonetalon Mountains, we assumed that the orcs and Bloodhoof tauren would take up the front line, while you blood elves would stand in the back with your bows and magic. We assumed falsely. I personally witnessed your spearmen hold the flanks while your spellbreakers and swordsmen weaved through our front line, cutting through our strongest warriors like chaff before a farmer’s scythe. Our failure stemmed from underestimating our opponents.

Today, as we face against the Burning Legion, the principle still applies. The Grimtotem may be cruel, but the Feltotem tribes of Highmountain are far treacherous. They are sadistic, heartless, aggressive, and can make the bravest warrior seem like a simpering gnome. They will kill your people because their Legion masters command it, and they will do so gleefully.

This is why I write to you today. The Sentinel has commanded us to seek you out. Our challenge is to duel our fellow Oathsworn in one-on-one combat in order to better ourselves. With practice, you may better yourself if you ever catch yourself in a skirmish with the enemy.

I challenge you - ALL OF YOU - to come and face me. If you can face a Grimtotem, I guarantee that you can face a Feltotem. Together, we will send the Feltotem tribe back to their Legion masters with their tails between their legs.

Warriors smiles. It's bright and wide and warm, relieved and watery and wobbly, and he feels like his body has just been recreated. The mourning over losing his only family to portals and fate ebbs from his chest, escapes through the laugh he lets out, incredulous and elated, maybe slightly hysterical, but Legend lets one out that sounds much the same, so he feels a bit more justified in it.

Instantly, the present burn in his chest snuffs out, smoke in his lungs and soot on his bones, and the hello, good morning, I love you, wants to pour out of him like water to a rickety dam.
