hello, fellow distinguished submas enjoyer 🤝🤝
seeing you answer train questions it occured to me, that old 'multi track drifting' meme, is it actually possible irl? or even a myth busters 'we busted the myth but were still gonna get our explosion stunt' level of Technically Possible if you Do This to the Poor Train kind of thing?
and if so, how dangerous where on the scale of badass to absolutely disastrous would it be?
This is, no joke, one of the best asks I have ever gotten in my 13 years on this delightfully horrible website.
The Multi-Track Drifting meme is from Densha de D, a parody doujinshi manga and game series parodying both Densha de Go, a long-running train simulator series in Japan, and Initial D, which needs no introduction (the Densha de D games even have great Eurobeat songs in them too). But could it work in real life?
The answer is...sort of, but it's difficult because you'd need some exact conditions to get it to work, and it would be best to do it in a controlled environment. It's easy to do with model trains if you set up your tracks correctly and know when to throw a switch, as seen with this LEGO model based loosely on our R38 subway cars:
As you can see, the trick to getting it to work is having the tracks evenly spaced and parallel and hitting a switch after the first set of wheels passes but before the second set does. This puts the two sets of wheels on different tracks, making it possible.
If you were to do this in real life, it would actually be pretty dangerous, so you'd have to do it in a closed environment - preferably a closed circuit of rails with perfectly spaced tracks and switches that had to be pulled at exactly the right moment. So in theory, it would be doable, but in reality, it would be highly dangerous to attempt because it would be so easy to derail trying it. Don't do this at home, and only try it with your model trains or in your train sims. (Seriously, there's a lot of videos of people doing it in Trainz.)
Now, since Pokemon is fiction - do I want to see Submas try to pull it off? Absolutely, because a) it would be funny and b) based on what we do get to see in the anime I think Emmet's a good enough driver to pull it off. But mostly because it would be funny and since people in the Pokemon franchise can survive slapstick injuries it has especially high comedic potential.

one day I will draw something that is not this au, today is not that day
enjoy some of my faves as the goth family reunited in strangetown! amarys has valued being goth over wearing sensible light clothing, ingo is still alien preggo from the beyeetening, emmet is just happy everyone is back together. also we don’t talk about the furniture. i hate drawing furniture.
also there’s a tag for this au! look up the #sims 2 submas mash-up tag for the full series 🙌
