I was supposed to make clothes and toyz for him but I've been lazy about so I'll post him anyway. This is the petzy version I made of Verloren, just because I can :D I've had him since December and he's now one of my favorite petz to play with. It's so fun that I can take my evil blorbo and put him in the cute little pet game ahahah! He feels surprisingly in-character sometimes tbh Some of the pics above were slightly edited (for example, that outfit is entirely drawn on photoshop and not actual ingame clothing) because I was lazy about some of his markings and they clip a lot, so I patched up some things. I might fix some things about that because some of it would be really easy fixes but like I said, I've been lazy.
The following pics are completely unedited:

He's so fuckin cute
Also yeah I have a bloody knife toy in my game so of course I had to give it to him.
More pics of him on my Petz website! [link]

Sooo I watched all four days of Crufts this past weekend and was possessed by the urge to draw various dog breeds. Child me would be so proud. (I still have the book of dog breeds I was obsessed with as a kid, and I still have an old little paper inside it with a list of dog breeds I wanted to draw... and pretty much all of these were there) Info about all of these people under the cut thingy:
Brelyn: A Grand Augur of necromagic. Probably will replace Morrok as Sellatrix's master and head of their team because I like her. Gentle and easygoing, likes to see innovative projects, hence her being okay with taking Verloren into her team. A powerful mage, much more deadly than she looks. Might be a witch as well or at least respect witchcraft. (Rip Morrok the owl, didn't even get a chance to exist and was already replaced, I might reuse the concept for another char or smth) Silverstrand: Was supposed to be a Grand Augur of necromagic but he has SUCH a geomage vibe that I'm not sure anymore. Either way, he's very serious and strict, and prefers things done "the right way" rather than experimental weird stuff. Basically the opposite of Brelyn a bit. If I make him a Grand Augur of geomagic, then he might be head of Lazuli's team. One of the king's most trusted Grand Augurs, warned him that exiling Verloren was a terrible idea (but got ignored anyway). King Harlin Devandell III of Houndsdagger: Proud and stubborn, likes to show off his power and skills. Grew up hearing that his mother the Queen never did enough, so he tries to do too much. Doesn't know much about magic and severely underestimates it. Ended up killed when Verloren didn't take being exiled very well. Wasn't too old, probably just a bit older than Verloren, so not even 50 yet when he died. Pommie: Finella's personal maid since she was a teenager. Very kind and caring, often felt more like a mom to Finella than her real mother. She's a household-wizard (someone who helps with trivial magic tasks, such as preparing baths with warming crystals and fancy fur potions or lighting up light orbs around the house) and taught Finella some basic magic when she asked her. The only one of this batch that I actually already had a full concept of for a while, even the breed, I just hadn't drawn her yet. Nivenyr: One of Sellatrix's witch friends. He's from the village and not related to the castle or any noble business. He works as a mage, making spells and stuff that he sells in his little shop. Somewhat cryptic. Possibly younger than he looks, I have no idea what's his age yet really. Might be more fit for my other setting that's about edgy emo witches (I mean he has emo hair even on his hands) but I'll try to keep him in this setting because Sella can't be the only witch around. Lazuli: A geomagic augur, friends with Finella. Calm and collected, she doesn't say much but judges everyone silently. Kinda tired of everyone's crap but tries to be non-violent, despite sometimes wishing she could kill some people. Her parents were jewelers and when she learned she could do magic with crystals and gemstones, she became a geomage and also learned to make art with magic crystals. Cyrus: A phytomagic augur. Extremely average guy. Obnoxious with his hate of necromagic. Was married to Finella at one point and he constantly tried to prove her how phyto is so much better than necro (Finella is a necromage, she just tried to ignore him when he went on a rant). When Verloren took over, Cyrus was among the phytomagic augurs who tried to ambush him and take him down, and was defeated and killed like all the others. Finella had mixed feelings about the incident. There were more people I wanted to make, like a pumi guy that I couldn't settle on a design for, and a girl that'll be either a papillon or a spaniel of some kind. But yeah I love dogs.

A generic pic of Verloren from some months ago because I just wanted to draw him but didn't have any good ideas. Lots of sketches and scribbles of that kind in the folder haha. This one was kinda rushed I think, finished in the same day I started, which is something that almost never happens.

This is what Verloren typically looks like as he works in the magic chamber. Hands behind his back, facing away from his colleagues and glaring at anyone who dares approaching him as he focuses on his experiments, his tail hanging low and waving or curling as his thoughts wander between his current craft and the rest of his ideas.

"So, what would you offer me in exchange for my work? What could you give me that would be worth my time?" While many of his potential clients would try to offer him hefty sums of gold and other riches, Verloren would never trade his soulmagic services for money. Sure, money could buy many supplies, materials, ingredients and even test subjects, but he could acquire it through ordinary necromagic crafts if he ever needed anything more than his job as a royal augur paid him. For soulmagic crafts, he sought something more interesting. Knowledge of obscure crafts, magics from different places across the world, or maybe even personal research if could be of use to him. Anyone could offer money, he thought, but could you offer something that is truly unique?

This is Verloren
Tumblr media
He's a very serious, unapproachable and hostile kind of guy, though mostly chill if you let him work on his magic research undisturbed. Has some very animal-like traits such as literally growling and biting when bothered. He's a vykrest hound (a made up thing that's like a sighthound with some maned wolf features and very long ears.)
Tumblr media
A kind-of ref of him and his dual-staff. He was very skilled in necromagic since he was young, so he became a mage working for the king. His main thing, however, is that he discovered how to make magic using the souls of creatures (and people), a very experimental thing with enormous potential.
He ends up using it to do some pretty messed up things at one point (obviously). Verloren has been a historical figure mentioned through some of my stuff at times. His story takes place in the 1600s of my world. I never thought I'd care about him this much and yet here I am, thinking about him nonstop for nearly 5 months now.

This is Mitzer, former prince from a kingdom that has fallen. He was rescued and brought to Houndsdagger, where he put his excellent mage skills to use. He is a soulseer, which means he can sense some things about ghosts and the spirit realms.

This is Finella, another mage from the royal augury of Houndsdagger. A refined lady who wants to know everything about everyone so she can pick her friends and enemies. Will gossip about almost anyone with her closest friends.

Just a quick Mitzer because I wanted an excuse to use this pen I have, and also some borrowed coloring pencils.
Mitzer's family, the Tempestaros of Morclaw, were known for their preference to lightning magic, which they used as a weapon but also as a form of art, displaying their sparks alongside dances and ceremonies.
Although none of them were lightnomancers (who would've been able to control lightning innately) they were excellent at crafting powerful and efficient lightning spells, which they always kept within reach.

I'm out of home for holidays and stuff until around January 7, so it's traditional art time since I don't have my PC with me (because I only have a desktop and I'm not carrying that around).
Here's Sellatrix, hanging out on a tree in the wilderness beyond castle grounds. She will regularly go to the forest in her free time to just be in nature, watch birds and collect nice rocks, dead bugs and rotting bones. Sometimes she'll go even when she's supposed to be at work as a mage in the castle...
I'm probably gonna scan this and color digitally once I'm back home, that's why I didn't even shade it with pencil or anything. I'm afraid of making it too messy if I do that anyway... I'd smudge pencil everywhere with my hand.

Verloren uses a dual staff, which is considered one of the strongest types of arcaster (magic weapon thing), although it's also somewhat harder to use than a standard staff. It requires its user to be very good at managing their magis as they need to maintain balance between both focal crystals instead of channeling everything into a single one. But typically, having two focal crystals allows it to amplify spells to a greater degree than a standard staff could, and if its user is particularly skilled, they can even cast two different spells simultaneously, which can be useful.
Dual staves are also really good at keeping up a magic shield while you charge up something else to attack with. Verloren uses that strategy a lot in duels.

This is Hawthorn, a very combat-focused mage who will challenge anyone to a magic duel over a minor argument. His staff is sword-shaped and most of his magic works are made for defeating opponents in a battlefield (although not necessarily by physically injuring them).

More Sellatrix, with one of said conjured magic animals. She's particularly fond of magpies and she uses them to gather tools and materials for her at times while she's working (animals like this are called feralisks and they're entirely controlled by their conjurer, not actually independent living creatures)

This is Sellatrix. Like Verloren, she's one of the Royal Augurs of Houndsdagger, but she's also a witch who enjoys cursed card games and conjuring magic animals. She loves stars and the moon, almost all of her clothes are starry in some way.

Wanted to draw these guys in expressions I don't usually think of but would be fairly normal for them! We have:
Hawthorn, watching someone brag about their dueling skills while he knows he could easily beat them.
Finella, venting about how that jealous lady from Phytomagic is always spreading lies about her and it's so outrageous that anyone even listens to her.
Mitzer, having fun chilling at the castle gardens with a friend and not looking like a scaredy cat for once.
Sellatrix, looking at a really cool bug she just found and about to call whoever is nearby to come see it.
