It's kind of sad how they've finally made an excellent Looney Tunes revival, and just... Nobody noticed.
YEAHHHH… much of that stems from WB’s shoddy marketing of it too!! so many batches within the past year or two have been dumped off without warning. the initial batch in May 2020 seemed to have some actual publicity behind it, but i think they may have shot themselves in the foot with their sporadic airing schedule… the second batch delivering in January 2021, MONTHS after the first, with little comparative fanfare i think shook a lot of the first time viewers away who, by that time, had likely forgotten about the series. it soon just sort of melted into the reality that most of the people watching were those who were there to watch the shorts in the first place. i know it was very frustrating to the crew, who were just in the dark about it as we were
i guess, if anything, there’s no such thing as “too late”! talk about episodes and bits you love! share ‘em with friends! hopefully more people will begin to catch on and develop an interest, even if the actual run of shorts has since ended. it is disheartening, but the shorts ending shouldn’t mean that all discussion of them should end either—just turns into an infinite feedback loop

You know, if W84 sucked just a little bit less, it would have done for Wondercheetah what Smallville did for Clex.
i never actually saw wonder woman 84 because the reviews for it were so bad, but yeah, i would kill for a decent piece of wonder woman-centric media that actually includes cheetah. pretty much every wonder woman movie adaptation we've gotten, from the og DCEU movie to the animated movies, just kind of... retells the origin story.

"wtf is going on in this show" Archie in that clip is explaining to Jughead, who's like a god or something, why he became the 13th serial killer of the show and murdered Veronica and the other Jughead-after coming back from life from having his heart cut out by Cheryl and her lesbian coven, he thinks he can merge universes and bring his dad back to life.
I had to look in my Riverdale tag to figure out what you were referring to (it's this post)
Thank you so much for going out of your way to try to explain this to me but unfortunately:

Is it hard being a Tomasi disliker if you're a Green Lantern fan? Because it's impossible if you're a Superman person. His run on Rebirth isn't the worst, but easily the most overrated. Outside of good art and Jon and Damian being cute together, it's the exact kind of bad people who don't like Superman think all his comics are. Banal, hypocritically sacharine, small-c conservative, but because it gives vague fluffy vibes (and admittedly, some pretty great artwork), it's the best.
Tomasi I think is considered pretty well? At least his preboot run which I do like. Most people don't really mention n52 stuff. Ngl gl fans like never mention anyone outside of johns and its so disappointing, there's so many more writers than him doing good things and fucking the mythos too, like there's so much stuff

Is it worth getting into Cosmere?
I would say so. It is a big investment though considering I believe there are (30ish) books in the series currently. I would suggest starting with Mistborn. You can start with Stormlight but considering there's significant crossover between the series I wouldn't start with Stormlight.
So this is how I would start:
1. Mistborn era 1
2. Mistborn era 2
3. Mistborn Secret History
4. Elantris
5. Warbreaker
6. The Way of Kings
7. Words of Radiance
8. Edgedancer
9. Oathbringer
10. Dawnshard
11. Rhythm of War
There's also short stories available in Arcanum Unbounded, which are all Cosmere connected. Sixth of the Dusk and Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell are both included in that collection. And then there's The Emperor's Soul which is a novella set in the same world as Elantris. There's also White Sand, which was published as a graphic novel but the prose version is also available for free when you sign up for Brandon's newsletter on his website. (that's the version I read)
This isn't a "this is the exact order you should read them" cause I didn't read them like this but I kinda wish I read them this way. I started with Elantris (but you can read it whenever honestly) but I do wish I had read Warbreaker before I read Oathbringer cause I didn't catch some crossover things.

"Should I watch Riverdale" I dunno, but you should at least watch Super Eyepatch's Wolf video, if you want know how they got there.
I know this response is kinda late, but you sent this around the same time my mom would go into the hospital for what would be over 5 weeks. When I did eventually get to watch this suggestion, learning about Riverdale and the wild shit that happens on the show and what happens in the making of it was weirdly actually very effective in keeping my mind off the stress for a little bit. I rewatched this video a lot, plus saw some of this guy's other videos, which also helped distract me when I needed it. I know that there's no way you gave this suggestion with that purpose, but I still wanted to thank you sincerely for unintentionally giving me a source of some reprieve during a very hard time. Also just generally, thank you for the video and youtuber suggestion, I've been impressed with all the videos I've seen of his so far. I think this video has satisfied my curiosity about Riverdale for the time being, so I don't think I'm gonna actually watch it, at least not anytime soon.

What do you think of the 2005 Question mini? I understand it's a bit controversial among the Question die-hards.
I definitely have mixed feelings, which I think I'll put under a read more bc this got longer than expected.... Whoops.
Okay. So. I think it's valuable in the sense that it kinda sets up how Vic is often written post-2005 (hyperviolent & mystical), and I think it dips back into the Ditko-era "be totally convinced what you are doing is right, even if you're burying people alive in cement with a backhoe" mentality, which can be kind of fascinating in combination with the magic stuff.
At the same time, though, I wouldn't consider it "in character" exactly. It's one of those oddball runs. I guess it's closest to The Deaths of Vic Sage in terms of content and character choices (which, depending on how you feel about that, you may or may not like), and isn't what I would consider to be a "here, this is a cool DC character. Check it out!" kind of story. Like. Can you imagine giving someone the 2005 run and saying "yeah this guy has an amazing inner battle and I think he's totally fascinating as a study of how morals can twist as you experience more and more grey situations". I think I would get some strange looks.
That all being said, I think there's a certain point where it gets kind of hysterical watching Vic Sage, high out of his mind, run around Metropolis seeing ghosts. There is something fun about that. The Question has always been a character that played with reality and what could be considered "objective truths", so drugs are nothing new. It's cool to see how an extremely subjective view can influence what a person does in a situation where the answer might not be black and white (although to be totally honest, I think he overreacts severely in the 2005 run.... But I'll get to that in a minute.)
One thing that I'm totally sure about on the story is the plot point about Vic and Lois going to journalism school together and having some kind of tension. Unlike Lois, though, I don't think the poems Vic wrote were about her. I honestly think they were about him. They're almost entirely about finding the hidden side of someone, and seeing secrets that they don't want others to see. They don't read as someone publishing poetry about their crush, they read as self exploration through poetry. I think Vic's shame about Lois thinking they were about her shouldn't have been an unrequited love thing, and I definitely don't think it should have influenced Vic's decision making to the point that he decides that killing willy nilly is totally justified, especially if you think about other times he's killed for love (like in the first Question Quarterly). It wasn't the kind of reaction you would expect from him given the situation. I do think it was an interesting detail, though, regardless of the romance issues. Not even going to get into what Superman might have thought about hearing that poetry and then running out to find the writer reenacting Bob the Builder with gore.
I think that my favorite thing about the run was seeing Vic literally walk in two worlds. You get the social aspect of him not fitting in with his peers while also being seperate entirely from heroes (although I wish they'd shown this more), while also literally having a split in the art to show how divided his thinking is. It's a cool way to showcase how the character is a little different from the version of him in, say, Mysterious Suspense, where a black and white character is literally portrayed in black and white (which, while maybe not an intentional choice, I believe has artistic merit for who the character is and what he embodied). Plus, I think the parts where you see how he sees the world (at least, how he sees it while on powerful psychedelics) are really visually interesting. I <3 bright colors.
Overall, I think it's okay. It's a weird one, and it belongs in the ranks with Frank Miller's Batman comic, PAX, TDOVS, Trinity of Sin, that one 9/11 thing that I don't remember the name of, but I think it's worth a read if you already have a solid understanding of the character and want to see an interesting portrayal. If we rank the 80s run as a 10/10 and PAX as a 1/10, I would put 2005 at a solid 6.

Random prediction, before we know anything: The bad guys want to use the deactivated but functioning droid army (remember, Palpatine in TROTS ordered them to be "shut down", not destroyed) against the empire, Cal will be tempted to join them, but won't cause they're still evil, and the Grand Inquisitor is actually counting on Cal leading them to those guys to destroy them or something.
Oooh interesting!!!! I definitely agree with the bad guys being against the empire and Cal being tempted to join them because of that (and then obviously not joining them)!! I completely forgot about the Grand Inquisitor and I’m interested to see if he’s involved! Survivor takes place the same year as Kenobi so it’s very possible

You dishonest prick. If you do not want to interact with me then leave me tf alone and stop reblogging my posts and commenting on what I have to say.
Just because you are too stupid to read basic facts about a character without running to your feminist theory to justify why you deserve to use private ownership of someone else's work to make a new character while using someone else's good grace and faith that they built on their own does not mean its my entire personality.
The only one getting humiliated here is you.
"Condemning unrestricted gun use" is not a theme either dummy learn to read literature that's not propaganda for once.

The thing about the Kon retcon, I don't think there's been any real good stories (for him at least) dealing with it-for the silly internal conflict to work, it even leads to weird shit like Clark telling him to his face "yeah, don't think Lex could've been okay if he wasn't abused, he was just kinda born evil"-but it also quite likely saved him from being mercilessly ditched as an 90s artifact, alongside Matrix/Angel Supergirl.
yeah, i have very mixed feelings about it for exactly those reasons. conceptually, i think it’s very interesting, but geoff johns just… never did anything particularly interesting with it.
given the million retcons between then and now, and the change in direction for lex’s characterization in a lot of more recent books, i think they could do something interesting with it now, given the right writer. i don’t think PKJ would in action comics because it doesn’t really fit with how he writes lex, and i’m not sure if williamson is particularly interested in using kon in the mainline superman book.
i think if superboy: man of tomorrow gets renewed past the initial 6 issues, it’s something i’d like to see touched on, if only because it seems to be a significant factor in kon’s ongoing crisis of identity.

Just wait till you to THE Superbat run of the Bronze Age. It's amazing.
Second ask included here for convenience
Tumblr media
Oh my god I can imagine it would take years to read all that!
So I'm not sure if you got this confused but I'm currently doing two read-throughs:
Im trying to read everything from post-crisis superman comics, in which I have now reached Dark Knight over Metropolis and will reread that one since I actually did read it 2 years ago. And then at some point soon I'll reach the triangle era, which might make things easier to navigate lol. I did find a great list through reddit here, and here.
But I'm also currently reading everything superbat (pre-crisis, post-crisis, new 52 etc, chronologically). I just read world's finest #152 so I still have a long way to go! I have read a lot of the bronze age world's finest comics in the past so I know exactly what you're talking about. And it is amazing!
(Beside these two 'missions' I'm also reading random pre-crisis Superman comics, Sandman, and other stuff)
Are you reading pre-crisis comics in order? It's seems a little daunting to me, even just Superman and Action Comics, and I'm quite content just reading random ones when the mood strikes. Though sometimes I do feel like I'm missing out a little.

Hey, hello fellow Tomasi hater! We are a rare breed indeed.
Remember when he made a sequel to Multiversity, a story where a gay Flash existed so that in climax in he dramatically DOESN'T die as a homage to COIE, to make a point about embracing diversity and new ideas as a way forward over self-referential bullshit, just to kill him off as a pointless homage to COIE? Because I do, and I'm never letting that go.
he did what??? Tomasi why 😭😭😭like I hate him for n52 glc, what was with the john gets the death penalty plot it fucking sucked
