Inspired by this conversation from Campaign 2 - Episode 85 of Critical Role
Robin slammed their drinks down on the table and fell into the booth next to Steve. The loud music, the crush of bodies up on the dance floor and the low light would be enough to keep their conversation mostly private no matter how loud they got.
“Alright.” She slid over a poisonous looking shot and turned to him. “Dish the dish, bish!”
Steve wrinkled his nose but knocked the shot back anyway. Maybe it was a sign of how much he’d already drank or maybe it was a sign of just how unhinged his teenage years had been but it went down much easier than he thought it would. He needed to get a solid buzz going anyway, Chrissy and Eddie would be arriving soon and he didn’t think he’d be able to get through a whole night of watching Eddie flirt with strangers again without something strong in his blood.
“I might have a similar problem.”
Robin looked at him confused. “Wait, you’re into Chrissy too?”
Steve was scandalised. “No!”
“Gross!”
“No!”
“You were a jock, she was a cheerleader, oh my god this is too hetero for me to be even having this conversation-”
“No, not Chrissy!” Steve shouted in fond frustration, cutting her off.
“Oh,” she said, immediately deflating from her outburst and shooting right back around to thirsty for information, “who?”
He stared at her for a moment, grimacing, trying to figure out how he would delicately reveal his crushing and all consuming infatuation.
Her eyes widened the longer he stared.
“Me?!” She shrieked.
“No!” He shrieked right back, appalled.
“Oh, it’s me!” Robin threw her hands into her hair and turned fully to face him. “This is your way of telling me! Oh my god, Steve, we’ve been through this-”
“Shut up! Shut up!” He shouted, thudding his head against their table before turning his head to look at her, lowering his volume and whisper shouting. “It’s- it’s Eddie!”
She definitely hadn’t heard him but had clearly understood the way his lips formed around the name and her eyes nearly popped out of her head.
“Wait, what?!” Her whole body went reeling. “I’m sorry, what?!” She grabbed him by the scruff like a misbehaving cat and hauled him back upright.
Steve slumped under her hold and shrugged. “It's just kind of, I don't know. It's just a crush, I just don't know what to do with it.”
“Wait, what?!” Robin repeated, glancing up and staring across the dance floor where Chrissy had appeared near the bar, scanning for them. “Three more!” Robin shouted at her, throwing a hand up with three fingers lifted when their eyes met. “Three more rounds!”
“Each!” Steve called. He didn’t know what Chrissy saw in their faces, maybe it was desperation or just the possibility of juicy gossip but even though she couldn’t have heard them so far away, she grinned and nodded, turning back to the bar.
Steve rounded on Robin, bringing their faces close together and poking her in the chest. “If you fucking tell anybody-”
Robin was completely unphased. “Of course I’m not gonna tell anyone! You know- look at this face!” She said, bringing Steve’s finger up to rest on her nose and doing a terrible job of biting down on her grin.
“You tell everybody everything!”
His soulmate had the worst poker face he’d ever seen.
“I’m cool.”
“You are gonna let it slip.”
“No! Of course not!”
Steve slouched in his seat with a petulant fake pout. “I shouldn’t have told you.”
“Wait, what about him?” She nudged at his shoulder. “For me…” Robin looked out across the bar again where Chrissy was lining up their drinks on a tray. “It’s her cute little nose and her thighs-”
“Are you talking about Chrissy again?”
“Yesyesyes.” She replied with an air of ‘keep up’ “its her sweetness and kindness and unflappably positive outlook. But she could also get mean if she has to-” Robin didn’t seem to be entirely aware that the woman she was watching slowly make their way over to them was not just a figment of her fantasies but was actually here and would soon be involved in the conversation.
He wasn’t too worried about Chrissy finding out about his crush, she probably already knew if the looks she’d been giving him the past few weeks were anything to go by.
“What is it about him?”
Steve dragged his eyes away from Chrissy and back to Robin, twirling his empty shot glass on the table, contemplating.  “He's fun, he makes me laugh, I like his ridiculous… everything. I think he's complicated and layered.” He glanced up as Chrissy set the tray down. “I don't know.”
“That’s cool.” Robin said, her voice uncharacteristically soft amongst the loudness.
“I’m not gonna act on it or anything!” Steve’s eyes bounced between the two girls. Chrissy seemed to pick up on what was happening immediately, sitting with her elbows on the table, leaning in while Robin stared at him disbelievingly, like he’d just said the most ridiculous thing imaginable.
“I wouldn’t have thought he'd be your type.” She said, giving him clemency and changing the thread of the conversation.
“I don’t think… he thinks… that I’m his type…” Steve replied with a crease in his brow, all the male pronouns in that sentence were confusing the shit out of him.
“So you’re telling me you’re not serious about this? That’s it’s just a crush, that this is not a thing-”
“Yeah, of course!” He exclaimed, not even believing himself and from the looks of it the two girls, they didn’t believe him either.
“Because what if… all he does is go on about how his love life is hopeless. What if he doesn’t even know what he likes?” Robin waggled her eyebrows at him, clearly insinuating that he should pursue.
Steve snorted, reaching for one of the multiple shots Chrissy set down. “I’ve had that fantasy.” He tried to make a light joke out of it but it was all too real in his own head. The amount of times he’d thought about introducing Eddie to all the shit he liked to have done to him in the bedroom and all the things he liked to do in return was downright obsessive.
He knocked his shot back at the same time the two girls did. The drink was definitely getting to him and Robin wasn’t far behind. They were entering Stage 4 Drunk.
Whimsy.
“He could be lost,” Robin squished his cheeks in between her hands, “he could be at sea right now, and you could be the anchor that brings him home.”
Steve nodded. “I could be the flame in the darkness.”
Chrissy was looking endlessly entertained. “I don't think that's how anchors work. Anchor brings you to the bottom, if I recall. Be the anchor that brings him to the bottom.”
But Robin just looked at her like she was agreeing with everything they said, barrelling forward. “What if he's lost because he doesn't know that you're what he's looking for? He thinks he likes-” she waved her arm out to the bodies on the dance floor.
Steve nodded. “I could be his beacon…” he downed the shot, the sharp tangle of alcohol shocking the whimsy out of him. “I need to stop saying these things.” He shook his head. “No, these aren’t any of these things anyway so like… it’s just this- I’m already-”
“It could totally be a possibility.” Robin yanked on his arm.
“It’s not a possibility-”
“But maybe it is.” She insisted with a look in her eye that he did not like.
“No.”
“Don’t worry.” She ran a hand clumsily through his hair, leaning in conspiratorially. “I’ll do some work.”
“nO!” Steve screamed helplessly while Chrissy cackled. “NO!”
But Robin was already nodding to herself. “I’ll find something I can do here.”
“No, Robin! Confiding! This was an exercise in confiding!”
She grinned at him like she was in on some big secret, darting two fingers between their eyes while Steve stared despondent. “I see what you’re getting at.”
“It's very black and white, it's just don't tell the secrets.” He tried to impress upon her, grabbing her hand which was still moving between them. “It's not that I'm getting at anything, it's just that this stays between us.” He glanced over at Chrissy who was looking wildly entertained. “This is our girl thing, okay?”
“Hey, but no matter what, we're not letting this break up the three of us.” Robin used her free hand to draw a circle around the three of them.
“No, absolutely not. We’re ride or die. It's not going to change anything.”
“No.” Robin nodded, seemingly satisfied but Steve still felt like his sanity was still in danger.
“Don't let it change anything.” He pleaded.
“It won't.” She grinned, all misplaced confidence and see-through casual exterior. “I will behave the same.”
“You’re already not.” He insisted, looking at her wide ‘I have a secret’ smile.
“Cool as a cucumber.”
“Oh my god.” Steve grabbed two more shots off the tray, knocking one back but the second was plucked from his grip.
Eddie wedged himself into the tiny amount of space beside Steve, his stolen shot disappearing down his throat.
“What are we talking about? Buckley’s got her ‘I have a secret’ smile on.”
Robin was staring at Eddie wide eyes with a huge grin on her face and if she thought she was being subtle she was fucking delusional.
Shit.
Steve knew from past experience she was about five minutes away from accidentally outing his big stupid fuck off crush so he had to deal with this himself.
He shoved Eddie out of the booth, calling a quick “Going out for a smoke!” over his shoulder and dragging him by the hand towards the back.
Steve wasn’t sure how long they stayed gone, but after two cigarettes each and something wild and intense in the bathroom afterwards, he found he didn’t really care.

Ok but remember when Steve Harrington didn’t know what a lesbian was but instead of giving Robin an awkward moment he decided to become the n1 lesbian supporter without questions???

When everything settles down, Robin takes a few psychology classes in college, just out of interest. She learns some very useful tricks and has very few moral restraints about using them.
Steve and Eddie are very happy together, but Steve's cleanliness-loving personality sometimes suffers from Eddie being a chaotic gremlin. He sheds clothes like snakes shed their skin. It's not that he doesn't want to wash dishes - he just forgets they exist. A washing machine? Oh yeah, we have that somewhere.
Enter Robin visiting for her summer break and a huge bag of sour candies.
"Hey Eddie, I almost tripped on your vest, can you pick it up?"
Eddie mumbles an apology and drops the vest into the hamper.
She smiles at him, shaking the bag. "Thanks! Would you like a candy?"
Of course Eddie wants a candy. They're his favorite and Robin knows it.
"Hey Eddie, I'd like to make lunch, can you please wash some of those mugs? Thank you! Have a candy!"
"I slipped on that stupid overgrown grass, could you maybe mow the path to the house a little? Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver! A candy for you!"
"You organized all that by yourself? Steve's going to be so happy! Here, catch!"
Steve has long days at work so he doesn't notice much. At least, until he walks in on Eddie turning the washing mashine on, something he almost never does, and turning around, mouth open.
Before Steve can ask what's going on, he catches a tossed sour candy between his teeth.
And instead of an explanation, Robin just grins at him, hands him the remaining candies and mutters "you're welcome, dingus."

Ok so like I’m exhausted- and I just really need to get this idea off my chest.
But a streamer au. Obviously modern, where Steve can’t hear anything because he accidentally dropped his hearing aids in the toilet. (Something real goofy and stupid) and he’s friends with popular streamer Dustin Henderson (who plays all sorts of games) not only is Steve friends with him but he’s friends with a few other streamers. Though they all want to include Steve in on their Minecraft server, because they know that when he has his hearing back he’ll be on there all the time talking to them. That and he also enjoys building things with Robin and just wander around the world. So they all get this server set up and start streaming. Some newer streamers join as well that Steve doesn’t know but the others know, and Steve has quickly become a fan favorite.
They are roleplaying a DnD campaign in Minecraft, when Steve’s character just pops out of no where doing the randomest things, at this point he even has lore. He’s a mute character who can only talk through messages. Everyone just loves Steve. He’s made numerous friends, and has helped build a lot of things. And no one in chat as ever seen or heard him. Though he is always in Eddie Munson’s streams constantly. Eddie is a older streamer, but wasn’t in on the fact that Steve can hear he just needs hearing aids. So when Steve explains he’s mostly deaf he just goes on about his day like normal. Though now typing book length messages to Steve. (Every streamer can see these messages, Eddie enjoys talking there so his chat can see what Steve’s saying and it’s easier to read off the same screen instead of having to constantly switch to discord) at this point Steve and Eddie are thick as thief’s.
Eddie’s the chaotic one and Steve is the tame one, and their videos together are hilarious. Though when Steve finally gets his hearing aids he’s excited to finally be able to talk to his new friend. He clicks in and joins the voice chat where you can only hear each other when you are actually close to each other in game. (Proximity) so when Eddie comes on and finds Steve he’s talking to his chat, not really caring about muting his mic because Steve can’t hear it. And he doesn’t stream.
And Steve his beaming and happy because he can finally hear Eddie’s voice. His hearing aids are a lot better then the last ones and he isn’t as muffled anymore. He stays silent, because he’s shy. And he tags along with Eddie. Who’s now changing his skin back and forth and talking to chat still. Steve hasn’t said anything. He’s waiting.
“Alright fine fine, I’ll ask Steve if he likes the maid out fit or the bunny suit.” Is heard right before aggressive typing begins.
Steve answers without thinking, and sounds really soft. “Maid Outfit.”
And his first words spoken to Eddie are maid outfit. And the timing is hilarious because he’s pretty sure Eddie has flat lined.
“Also, meant to ask why are our beds pushed together?” Steve asks.
Just I want a really cute au like this. And not weird.
Or instead of the maid outfit, chat is telling Eddie to give Steve his daily kiss. (It’s not he just moves forward and hits Steve’s Minecraft character) which has always confused steve until he hears. “Fine daily smooch for the Stevie boo” (Eddie has given him nicknames?) and just smacks Steve’s character making him loose a heart.
“Ow. That’s why you keep hitting me? For kisses? Eddie I gave you cake, we share a house together and you decided smacking my character upside the head was the equivalent to kissing? You could have just given me flowers dude!”
(Like all of the possibilities are endless)

Glad the fandom agrees that Gareth is to Eddie what Robin is to Steve.
When Steve and Eddie get together, Eddie is obviously accepted by Steve's friends. Immediately: they can't go through hell together and NOT want every single member of the party to find something good and healing like love. The Party loves Eddie, obviously; they know he'll look after Steve, they know Steve will look after Eddie, and despite his love for both of them, Dustin gives Eddie a shovel talk so detailed, so disturbing, and so terrifying that Eddie asks Dustin to DM their next one shot (that little shit has some skills in manipulating emotions when he wants to. He did bully Mike and Lucas into making up in season one, Steve into hunting demodogs in season two, Steve into trying to translate Russian correspondence in season three, and ERICA into helping them infiltrate the Russian bunker base in season three. Kid has skills, we're all lucky he leans more towards chaotic neutral than chaotic evil). Point is, Eddie does not experience any negative reactions to the news that he and Steve are dating.
But the Party does not include Eddie's oldest friends. Gareth, Jeff, and Nelson (I like that name better than "unnamed freak 1," saw it in a fanfic and adopted it into my headcanons) are very much AGAINST Steve and Eddie dating, not because they're two dudes, but because Steve was best friends with Tommy Hagan, arguably the largest douchebag in Hawkins history, and they don't want Eddie to get hurt. So every time Steve joins Eddie for band practice, if Eddie is out of the room or even out of EARSHOT, all three of them are a little extra rude to former King Steve. But no matter what they do, Steve won't lash out. He'll grit his jaw, sure, and say something about how they don't know anything through clenched teeth, but he never argues when they call him an asshole or a bully or a liar.
When Jeff says that Steve is full of bullshit, Steve goes totally rigid before he just shuts down. Gareth sees this and immediately tries to backtrack; a parallel to Steve in high school, he's said a few regrettable things but he mostly just allows it to happen in front of him. Eddie comes back in from his bathroom break, sees Steve, and is instantly on the defensive. He drags Steve out of the garage, shooting absolutely deadly looks to his band, and they don't see him for two weeks. When Eddie does return, all three apologize to him, then less genuinely to Steve, and Steve quickly forgives them. Again, Eddie ends up taking a bathroom break, but this time, Gareth sits gingerly on the couch beside Steve.
"Are you really dating Ed? Like, no ulterior motives?" He asks, and Steve nods.
"I can't say how, but he saved my life. I was wrong to think he was just some freak," Steve says, but then he hesitates. "I- I really love him. I'm sorry you don't- I know I was a shithead in high school, but really, I love him." Gareth believes him. There's an earnestness in his eyes, a desperation for someone to know, and he can see the anxious set to Steve's shoulders. Gareth never thought that he'd see this, the King admitting to loving another man with not a trace of ill intent, and now that he DOES see it, he can see the tremble in Steve's hands, the tension in his posture and bags under his eyes, he can see the exhaustion written in every line of Steve's posture. So Gareth decides then that, whatever horrors have made such a self assured, confident person this tired, nervous, fidgety man, Steve is a good person. So he asks Steve to be good to Eddie, and then he goes back to his drumset. Jeff and Nelson are kinder, too, seeing that Eddie's #1 best friend, Platonic Soulmate, has decided to trust the fallen King.
After that, to Eddie's shock and embarrassment, Steve and Gareth get along like a house on fire. First, it's just teasing Eddie, then it's sharing embarrassing stories (Gareth shares the time Eddie spent an hour crying over a ladybug he killed before they told him it was just an M&M, and Steve shares the time that Eddie shot off of the couch during movie night and face planted into the wall, because he was half-awake and convinced that he'd just seen Ronnie James Dio through the window). Finally, it's Gareth who puts the pieces together that Steve is dyslexic, and helps Eddie record tapes for each chapter of books that Dustin and Eddie have been trying to get Steve to read.
They're not as close as Eddie and Gareth or Steve and Robin, but Steve and Gareth become great friends. Eventually, Steve and Eddie convince the party to bring Gareth into the know (Gareth is suspicious, but El's abilities and their story combined fill every single hole in the official story. He's terrified but comforted to know that it's over now)

Eddie gives Steve the most obscene Valentine's Day cards. Nothing homemade, just an unassuming store-bought card that's all pink with a cheesy, 'I choo-choo choose you'-type train pun or whatever. But in it contains absolute filth written in Eddie's cramped handwriting.
What he likes doing to Steve. What he wants to whisper in Steve's ear while he does said things. What he likes Steve doing to him. Vivid descriptions of his body. Vivid descriptions of everything, really. What he's going to do to Steve before the day is out...
The first time Steve receives such a card is their first Valentine's together in 1987. He's at work, drudging through a day shift with Robin when he feels something crinkle in his back pocket as he slumps onto the wheely chair behind the counter. He furrows his brow and shuffles around to retrieve it, smirking when he sees Eddie's handwriting on the envelope.
'Steve' with a little heart next to his name.
"What is that?" Robin asks, looking up from the magazine she is sharing with Nancy, who's decided to pop in and out throughout the day as part of their romantic plans.
If you can call hanging out in a dead Family Video and stacking returns 'romantic'.
"Looks to be a card from my secret admirer," Steve replies with a shit-eating grin, as he waves around the envelope.
He pointedly chooses not to acknowledge Robin's eye roll.
He ungracefully tears the envelope as he opens it and giggles at the greeting card. It features two cartoon pears on the front, hugging and smiling against a pink background with the words, 'Quite the pearing' floating above them.
It's so goddamn silly. But he loves it.
Steve opens the card and is bombarded with Eddie's writing, scrawled all over the inside. The black pen and uneven handwriting look positively chaotic against the pink background as it slopes and narrowly misses the inside 'Happy Valentine's Day' message.
He gasps and drops the card, bringing a hand to his mouth after catching the word, "suck".
His idiot boyfriend has given him a dirty Valentine's card.
Nancy snorts a laugh and turns a page of her magazine, ignoring him while Robin makes a face.
"What does it say?" she asks, beaming as she hops off the counter, grateful for a distraction.
She reaches down and scoops up the card before Steve can reboot and take any action to stop her.
She stands, opening the card.
And poor, sweet Robin reads a line about Steve's ahem... appendage, before she can stop herself.
"OH MY GOD!" she shrieks, throwing the card immediately as she screws her eyes shut and shakes her head, her hair flying and frizzing as she waves her arms across her face. "Nope! No, no, no!"
Steve watches, frozen on the spot as the card falls to the ground, again. This time open.
Nancy leans over the countertop and squints.
"Oh," she says low, blushing as she makes out a sentence describing Steve and Eddie's bedroom activities.
Steve finally manages to do something. Which is to dive to the floor and scramble on his hands and knees for the card and its envelope. He jumps to his feet, holding Eddie's card to his chest, fearing the entire universe has now read it.
"I'm going to the back room," he splutters. "I should... Probably read it properly."
"EW!" Robin screams as he rushes to the storeroom door and slams it shut as Nancy rounds the counter.
"Do you think I can call Keith and say I have to go home to gauge my eyeballs out," Robin asks, talking a mile a minute as she reaches for Nancy's embrace.
"Robbie, calm down," she chuckles, hugging her tight. "It was... A lot. But we'll be fine. The most important thing is Eddie really likes Steve."
"I'm going to say he likes him too much!" Robin laments with an overly dramatic dry sob.
Nancy stifles a hearty laugh as she rubs Robin's back and thinks about what she should write on her own card to her girlfriend in readiness for their dinner date.
Although, she'll clean it up significantly. Maybe.

Later, Steve practically kicks the trailer door down, flustered.
"Oh, goody. You found my card," Eddie grins, hopping up from the couch with an unfairly chipper pep in his step considering the chaos he has caused.
"Yeah," Steve mumbles, nodding matter-of-factly.
Eddie steps forward, his wicked dimples on full display as he snakes an arm around Steve and shoves a hand in his back pocket.
He leans in to whisper in his ear.
"Slipped it in your back pocket before you went to work, sweetheart."
"Fuck," Steve huffs, running a hand through his hair.

Hi!
This idea just wont leave my head : reader strongly dislikes physical touch from anyone but Steve and, being the idiot he is, steve is completely oblivious to it. When the rest of the group tells him he doesn't believe them so they make up some master plan to prove him wrong. Basically #idiotsinlove
If you feel like writing that, itd be awesome. Have a lovely day <3

“Are you ever going to ask her out?” Robin’s sudden appearance startled him as he stared off into the distance. If you hadn’t been paying you might have thought he was zoned out, but in reality he had been staring at you the entire time. He was beyond grateful that he’d remembered his sunglasses. He’d been so enthralled by you that he hadn’t even heard Robin open the passenger door.
“Fuck,” he hissed under his breath, pointedly ignoring her question, “you could have tapped on the window first or something!”
“You could have been paying attention,” she threw her backpack in the back seat as he rolled his eyes at her behind the dark lenses of his Raybans, “don’t ignore my question, Steve!”
“Ask who out?”
“Don’t be so stupid,” she hit his arm as he started the car, casting you a last longing little glance before pulling away. Robin sweetly sang your name, and a dark flush of pink rose up in his cheeks, “you’re whipped for her. And she likes you too! So why not make a move?”
“She doesn’t - ugh, no. I didn’t think you could get so stupid,” he reached over and flicked her nose, causing her to grumble at him. The idea that you could like him even a fraction of how much he liked you was enough to cause his heart to constrict with nerves, “w-wait though…why do you think she likes me?”
“It’s not just me dingus,” she sat back and watched him closely, a little smirk on her face, “it’s all of us. I think it’s just you too that are blind. Like…idiots in love, basically. Besides, she has a huge tell.”
“Tell?”
“Yeah, how we know she likes you,” she was enjoying watching him squirm as he tried to keep his cool. She could tell he was spiraling inside, “she likes touching you-”
“Excuse me?” he turned to her and almost veered the car off the road, causing her to grumble loudly.
“Mind out of the gutter, Steve! Not like that,” she sighed when he pulled into the parking lot of Family Video. At least she wasn’t alone on her shift today; she had her best friend working with her. And she was going to make him confess his feelings if it was the last thing she did, “she…she’s not a physically affectionate person. You know…like Eddie - he’s always touching someone and he’s just more…openly affectionate I guess? But she’s like the exact opposite.”
“But she’s always hugged me or…”
“Exactly,” she nodded happily, “her tell! She won’t let any of us touch her but you. Only you. Are you putting two and two together?”
“I…” he turned the car off and gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles were turning white, “I think you’re all seeing things where you want to. I mean, I wish it was true - and there, now you can say made me admit I like her - but it’s not true. It’s wishful thinking.”
“I’m not wrong,” she insisted, refusing to give into his pessimism, “not all of us are wrong. You’ll see - we’ll get you to see that it’s true. Or you could just go and ask her out.”
“Not happening.”
“Well then, Harrington, it’s on.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Movie night always proved to be…chaotic. Chaotic in a good way, but what else could be expected when a bunch of teenagers, an empty house, and too much pizza and soda were involved? You were running a little late, your last tutoring gig having run longer than anticipated, but you came with a ton of cookies to make up for it.
You rocked back and forth on your heels as you waited for Steve, or anybody, to answer the door once you’d rung the bell. The idea of seeing Steve always put butterflies in your tummy, despite the fact that you’d known him and been his friend for years. That sweet, dopey dork had a hold on you that was palpable. The door slowly opened and you found Dustin grinned excitedly.
“Hey bud,” you walked inside and kicked off your shoes as you handed him the container of cookies, “sorry I’m late - took forever today!”
“It’s okay,” he insisted as he set the box down and came back over, hesitating for just a moment before throwing his arms around you in a tight hug, “just so glad you’re here!”
“O-oh,” it took you a moment to react, but you gently and tentatively put your arms around him a light hug in return, “I’m glad to see you guys. Especially after this hellish week.”
“Hi!” Max darted over and almost knocked you down in her attempt to hug. You sighed lightly before wrapping an arm around her slim shoulders, “I’m glad you’re here. All these boys suck.”
“Hey!” Robin glowered from her spot on the couch before making her way over. You smiled at your friend and she managed to take you by surprise as she pressed kisses to your cheeks. What was with everyone today? They were all being so…weird, “missed you.”
“I saw you earlier,” you snorted as you raised your eyebrows in suspicion, “we have most of our classes together…”
“Still,” she insisted, dragging you into the living room where everyone was gathering with pizza, “it’s always better with you around.”
“Exactly,” Lucas hugged your legs from his spot on the floor and you just sighed lightly, “now the party can get started.”
“Should I be worried?” you looked around at the eager faces of your friends, “you’re all acting weird. Weirder than normal…and that’s saying a lot.”
“What do you mean?” Eddie’s grin stretched from ear to ear as he looked at you sweetly with those big brown eyes of his. You knew Eddie better than almost anyone else and now you knew something was up.
“Did you give them all laced blunts or something?” you sighed as he just shook his head in amusement before giggling happily. You heard your name whispered softly as you turned around to find Steve standing at the bottom of the stairs, a collection of blankets in his arms. Your expression softened as he grinned at you, “hi Stevie!”
Robin exchanged a sneaky little glance with Eddie as the two of them silently mouthed Stevie! at each other. Steve swallowed thickly before handing the blankets over to Dustin who just happened to appear at his side with perfect timing. His heart was practically hammering against his chest as he contemplated his next actions. His plan had been to hug you, to see if Robin’s theory had been right, but he found himself frozen. You tilted your head to the side, giving him that smile that made him weak in the knees, “h-hi.”
“Okay weirdo,” you reached up and touched his cheek before affectionately ruffing his glorious mop of hair. Steve was biting the inside of cheek so hard that it was a miracle that he wasn’t bleeding. Robin caught his eye from over your shoulder and gave him a little shrug as if to say told you so. But you…you’d always been like that with him. So openly affectionate and gentle and oh. Oh. He’d been so blinded with his own affection for you that he hadn’t noticed yours, “not you too! You’re all acting so weird. Are we gonna  do movie night or are you all going to continue acting like this?”
“Movie!” Eddie shouted happily as Dustin tossed blankets around for everyone to get comfortable. You watched as Steve took his customary spot on the big couch, on the far end, grabbing one of the big blankets and looking at you, silently asking if you were coming. It was normal for you to be next to him, normal for you to be tucked into his side, normal for him to put his arm around as you laid your head on his chest. Oh.
What was normal for the two of you…wasn’t normal for everyone. Not for people that were just friends. At the realization, your cheeks warmed up and you slowly made your way to him, almost flopping down as he tossed the blanket over both of you. You wondered if…maybe he felt the same way as you. You’d always thought you’d hidden your affection and sweetness for him well enough but now you were…absolutely questioning that.
Without even thinking about it, Steve pulled you into his side and his long arm wrapped around you. Only this time, you didn’t lay your head on his chest or on his shoulder, but your gaze was concentrated on him.
Lucas flipped off the lights as Eddie started the movie, casting the room into darkness save for the light of the television. You hadn’t even noticed what movie was playing, instead so hyper-aware and focused on Steve. You’d never been more aware of his closeness, of how his body felt next to yours. Suddenly it seemed like every time you had touched him had been taken for granted.
“Hey,” he leaned and whispered so long you could hear him, “is everything okay?”
“Y-yeah,” you swallowed the lump in your throat and nodded, giving him an unconvincing little smile, “just…tired.”
“Oh,” he almost sounded disappointed, but you could tell that he didn’t believe you, “okay.”
Despite your hesitation, you forced yourself to push through, to see if perhaps you could take it a little further. You slung your arm over his midsection before cuddling into his side and practically squishing your face into his chest. You could feel his sharp inhale before he slowly let it back out and he relaxed. Neither of you said anything for some time, sitting there comfortably tangled up, but unable to focus on the movie.
After what seemed like a small eternity, you couldn’t handle it anymore. You untangled yourself from Steve, sitting back on legs so you were facing him. His mouth opened in surprise for a moment, but when he noticed you studying him so intently, he grew nervous.
“C-can we go upstairs?” his heart almost dropped into his stomach at your words as his mind immediately started reeling with the possibilities. His mouth felt dry so he just nodded instead, not trusting himself to speak. You quietly climbed off the couch and padded towards the stairs with Steve following closely behind. You didn’t even look back or stop until you were at his door, letting yourself into his room.
There was something so familiar and comforting about his room; you’d been in here hundreds of times before but something about this moment felt so different. You sat down on his bed as he closed the door and leaned against it. You were looking at each other, both of you unable to look away.
“Stevie?” your gaze had shifted to your feet as you played with a loose thread on his blanket. He made a small sound of acknowledgement but didn’t push you any further, “why were they all acting so weird tonight? Is there something going on?”
“Whaddya mean?” he stuffed his hands into his pockets as you looked up and tutted at him.
“You know what I mean,” you sighed lightly, “they were all huggy and touchy. It’s not…I like touch, you know, but on my terms. It’s just…I dunno, I’ve always been that way. But…with you, i-it’s different. I don't know…I like when you…t-touch me."
There was a bemused little smile on his face as he waited for you to realize your mistake. When you did, your hands went to your face as your entire body felt like it was on fire, "fuck - Stevie, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that I-I just…I like being close to you."
"I know what you meant," he moved from the door and came closer to you, tentatively and slowly to make sure he wasn't crossing any unspoken boundaries. When you didn't stop him, he sat down next to you, the mattress dipping under his weight. The two of you sat in silence for a few moments before he set his hand down on the bed next to yours, and you could feel his pinky brushing against yours.
"Steve-"
"Robin is convinced that you like me," he cut you off but had to do it because he wasn't sure if he'd get the courage to say it again, "she says you have this tell - that you don't like touching anyone else but me."
"Steve."
"She wanted to test her dumb theory and that's why everyone was so lovey dovey touchy feely today," he ran a hand through his hair in exasperation, "and I realize now that's a fucked up thing to do and probably made you feel uncomfortable and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let them do it."
"It's okay," you smiled softly, the butterflies in your tummy fluttering around wildly. Robin knew - she had known. Which means that everyone else probably did too, "I thought they were being extra weird."
"Unfortunately."
"What was your conclusion?"
"I - ugh - what?"
"Your conclusion," you moved your hand ever so slightly closer to his and nudged his foot with yours, "what did you learn? About Robin's little theory."
"I…" he inhaled and trailed off, turning his head lightly towards you, "well…I-I think she was right."
"Oh,” it was a soft little sound that caused him to panic and spiral almost immediately. Oh. It could have meant a hundred different things but your expression was giving away nothing. Meanwhile you were trying not to panic out of sheer excitement because holy fuck - that meant Steve did like you. Or at least…probably did. Shit. Were you reading into this too much now? You allowed yourself a small glance at him and realized he’d been staring at you this entire time.
You shifted so you were fully sitting on his bed, cross-legged as you waited to see who would break the tension. He nervously rubbed his palms on his thighs before letting out a small, nervous laugh, “oh.”
“Steve,” you put your hand on his arm, willing him to look at you, but all he did was stare at the floor, “Stevie.”
He turned at the sound of his nickname, his big, soft brown eyes meeting yours. You could tell there was a nervous little hope behind them. He’d never let anyone else call him Stevie. It had always irked and irritated him but when you said it? It practically made him weak in the knees. Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he moved so his position was mirroring yours.
You felt so vulnerable and open with him, but you never once felt scared or nervous. He always made you feel safe - protected. In a blur and without letting yourself overthink for one, you put your hand on his cheek and surged forward to kiss him. He made a small sound of surprise, taken aback by your sudden boldness, but quickly kissed you right back. It was messy at first, clumsy and awkward and your teeth clicked together a few times, but you soon found a rhythm that was both needy and saccharine.
He pulled and you pushed your way onto his lap, and he settled his hands on your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck. When he had thoroughly kissed you until you were both breathless, he pulled back and you both exchanged a nervous little laugh.
“So ‘oh’ was a good thing then?” he asked sweetly as he cupped your face in his warm, large hand before stroking your cheek.
“Yeah,” you nodded, feeling warm from his touch, “it was.”
“Fuck me,” his groan was playful as he pressed his forehead against yours before you kissed him again. He tasted of salty popcorn, sweet cookies, and faint mint. You liked it - you liked him. You really like kissing him; you’d imagined this moment at least a million times and this still felt better than anything you could have ever dreamed up, “Robin is never going to let me live it down once she realizes she was right.”
“Maybe it’s not such a bad thing,” you whispered, leaning in so your lips were brushing against his, “maybe it’s the little push we finally needed.”
“I would have said…something a long time again if I had any idea that you’d feel even remotely the same,” he admitted as a wicked blush rose up in his cheeks. You pulled back and looked at him with wide eyes. Those soft, big doe eyes make him bite the inside of his cheek to keep from moaning out loud.
“What do you mean?” you whispered, “did you not think I liked you? Steve, I’ve loved you for a long time.”
“Y-you..love me?”
“Oh, ahh, shit,” you scratched the back of your neck nervously, pulling back from him for just a moment, “I-I didn’t mean it how it sounded. It’s just that…I like you a lot and it’s-”
“I love you,” his hands found your face as he pulled you back down to his lips. This time he kissed you slowly, pouring every little bit of love, every unspoken word into the kiss, hoping you were able to feel it. You were, “have for a long time.”
“Oh Steve,” this time it was your turn to kiss him, and the two of you were quickly lost in each other and one thing led to another as you ended up under him, beaming up at him happily. He leaned down and you brushed some of the soft locks of hair out of his face, and he couldn’t stop from kissing you again, “Steve.”
“Hey!” Robin knocked loudly on his door and you could hear Eddie giggling along with her, “movie’s over and ugh…we’re gonna continue this at the Wheelers’ so you guys have some…privacy.”
“Unless you’re already having sex!” oh Eddie.
“Good,” Steve groaned lightly as you just smiled at him, “now go!”
“Steve?” Robin’s voice was sticky sweet and you both already knew what was coming, “I told you so.”
“Goodbye!” Steve buried his face into the crook of your shoulder as you just laughed, “our friends are the worst.”
“Sometimes,” you agreed, “but right now, I’m kind of thankful for them. So, tell me Stevie…do you want to have sex?”
“I...fuck,” he closed his and let out a wistful little moan, “yeah, I really do.”
“Good,” you whispered, “me too. But also - I love you.”
“I love you.”

Sitting in the basement of the Wheeler house felt odd. Probably because neither of the Wheeler siblings you knew were there. Still, you had a lot of company.
Max was across the room at a desk, her headphones on as she held a pen in hand. Lucas, Steve, and Dustin—in that order—were sitting on the couch against the wall opposite to Max. And you? You couldn’t sit down. You should’ve gone with Nancy and Robin, but Steve had complained about always having to be the babysitter and convinced you that three was a crowd and to stick with him instead.
It was kind of embarrassing, how easy he could sway you. Steve had quickly become one of your best friends after he began working with you and Robin at Scoops Ahoy. That is, before the mall burned down. However, everything that happened was a very quick and strong bonding experience. Then the three of you migrated together to the video store and spent even more time together. Especially you and Steve. After your shifts or on your days off you were almost always hanging out together.
“Can you sit down?” Dustin’s voice broke through the silence and took you out of your head. “You’re making me dizzy.”
“Leave her alone, dude,” Steve muttered in your defense. “She’s scared.”
“I’m not scared,” you were quick to correct, finally stilling in order to face them. “I’m just… anxious.” It was true, you couldn’t stop thinking about what would happen if Nancy and Robin came back with no answers and Max—who you’d become fond of—was left in danger.
Steve stood from the couch and made his way over to you. He put an arm over your shoulder and pulled you against him at an angle. You allowed yourself to curl into him as he provided you with a comforting embrace.
“When’s the last time you slept?” Steve asked as his other arm came around you, hugging you. His voice was soft but full of concern.
“I don’t remember,” you admitted. After everything that happened it was hard to calm down enough to even close your eyes for more than a few seconds. You felt like you couldn’t sleep until the mystery of Vecna was solved and he was stopped.
If your head wasn’t against Steve’s chest, you would’ve seen Lucas staring at you and Steve while Dustin rolled his eyes. Steve didn’t see at first either, but he sensed the sass radiating off of his young friend. He shot Dustin a glare that translated to ‘keep your mouth shut!’
See, Dustin knew about Steve’s feelings for you. Well, practically everyone who saw the way he interacted with you did, but Dustin was the only one he actually told. He would’ve told Robin but she had already figured it out and he made her swear to forget it. There was only one person who didn’t know how Steve felt about you; you.
Somehow, you were oblivious to it. Even Steve at times was surprised you hadn’t called him out on it. Between the longing stares and constant affection, the way his mood always lit up when you were around and how often he wanted to hang out, he figured he would’ve been caught by now. But you never seemed to notice how he was so much gentler and much more openly caring with you than anyone else.
“Just try to take it easy, okay? Please?” Steve asked softly. “You know I worry about you.”
You lifted your head and met his eyes with a soft smile. “Sometimes I think you worry about me too much,” you teased him lightly.
“Yeah, well, I can’t help it,” he replied with sincerity. A light smile tugged at his lips as he stared down at you. He couldn’t hide the absolute adoration in his eyes as he held your gaze, and it took everything he had to not lean down and kiss you.
The moment was ruined when Dustin decided he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. “If you’re gonna kiss can you not do it in front of us please?” he asked sarcastically. Steve shot him a death glare and you blushed a little bit and stepped back from Steve.
“What the hell, man?” Steve couldn’t contain his annoyance at the younger teen. Looking at Steve you could see he was blushing a tad. You figured it was because Dustin had embarrassed him. It was one thing when you and Steve teased each other about your relationship but hearing it from someone else made it awkward.
You rolled your eyes and brushed off the comment. You thought there was no way it was anything more than a joke so you didn’t let it bother you. “I’m gonna go get a glass of water,” you announced, changing the subject.
“No, you stay here,” Steve decided, already walking to the stairs. “Sit down and relax for a sec. I’ll get it for you.” He gestured to the spot he’d been sitting that was now empty.
“Um, thanks!” You called after him as he ascended to the main house. You turned your attention to Lucas and Dustin, furrowing your brows at the weird expressions on their faces.
You didn’t move to the seat, unable to bring yourself to sit down. “Why are you looking at me like that?” you asked the boys.
“I wasn’t joking, you know. Before. He really does wanna kiss you.” Dustin told you matter of factly.
“What?” you questioned, his comment coming seemingly out of nowhere. You had no idea how long he’d been keeping Steve’s secret and Dustin just couldn’t not say anything now.
“He likes you. It’s, like, disgustingly obvious. I don’t know how you don’t notice,” he stated with plenty of sass in his voice. It was the tone he always used when he knew he was right—which was more often than any one of you wanted to admit.
“Yeah, he’s definitely into you,” Max chimed in, apparently having listened in to the whole interaction. You turned your head to her and saw no hint of sarcasm. “You seem like you like him too,” she added.
You opened your mouth to say something, but Dustin cut you off with more revealing information. “He’s too scared to tell you. He doesn’t want to ruin the friendship, whatever that means.”
“If you like him you should tell him,” Max intervened yet again. “He’d actually be a good boyfriend. He’s like, super romantic with you already. You just don’t notice.” The way she said it had an underlying argumentative tone.
That, of course, sparked Lucas to jump in. “And what? I wasn’t a good boyfriend?”
“You cared more about being popular so what do you think?” Max snarked back with her focus on Lucas.
You didn’t even have the focus to register what they had revealed to you before because the conversation devolved into children (okay, fine, teens) bicker amongst themselves.
“I do care about you!” Lucas defended, yelling slightly in exasperation.
“You did miss Hellfire Club,” Dustin muttered under his breath.
“And you missed my game!” Lucas then turned back to Max. “I do care about you, okay? Plus, Steve was popular in high school and now you’re his number one fan or whatever so how is that different?”
Max scoffed. “What does that have to do with anything?” she questioned. “Besides, I’m not his number one fan- Y/N is!”
“Guys—” you said, trying to get a word in.
“All I said was that they’d make a good couple because he obviously cares about her a lot.”
“Once again—” Lucas tried to argue back, but he got cut off just as you had been. This time, by Dustin.
He shot to his feet. “Hey! Quit it!” he yelled to Max and Lucas, causing them to fall quiet. They seemed startled and honestly you were too. All eyes were on Dustin as he firmly reminded, “this is about Y/N and Steve, not you two.” Dustin then looked at you. “Do you like Steve?” he pushed for an answer, causing you to feel flustered. You felt like a spotlight was on you.
This was not how you expected to admit you had feelings for Steve Harrington…
Then, to make everything even more… you didn’t know the word for it. Weird? It didn’t matter. Point was, Steve appeared all of the sudden and questioned, “I heard my name, what’s going on?”
Well, at least he hadn’t heard everything. “Um,” you didn’t know what to say.
“We told her you love her,” Dustin announced, causing both you and Steve to whip your heads towards him.
“What!?” You and Steve exclaimed in unison. You were both shocked, but in different ways.
“Why would you tell her that!?” Steve demanded an answer from Dustin.
Your eyes found Steve. “You love me?” you asked. He looked down at you, his cheeks flushed and his face still wearing an expression of surprise and confusion.
He swallowed, trying to regain his composure. “I thought he said he told you.”
“He didn’t say love,” you told him. You still couldn’t believe it as you said the words. Steve Harrington loved you… that was a lot to take in.
“Well, he does love you,” Dustin confirmed.
“Be quiet, Henderson!” Steve shouted in frustration at the boy.
“No, I’m tired of you staring at her and always talking about her but doing nothing about it!” Dustin argued, somehow sounding just as frustrated with Steve as Steve was with him.
“I thought you said you didn’t want them to kiss earlier,” Max quipped.
Dustin looked at her and she tilted her head, easing her brows. “They need to kiss and get it over with, just not in front of me,” Dustin clarified.
“Okay!” Steve shouted, holding his hands up, signaling for silence. Then he took a breath before letting out a deep sigh. “Y/N, can I talk to you for a minute?” he addressed you calmly. This wasn’t how he wanted you to find out. Hell, he wasn’t planning on you finding out. But if he did tell you, it would’ve been… well, not like this. Now he had to explain himself and hope you didn’t reject him too harshly.
Given the situation with Max, you figured the both of you leaving the room wasn’t the safest and Steve agreed. You found yourselves sitting on the stairs next to one another. You were towards the middle, still in the eyeline of the other three but (hopefully) out of earshot if you talked quietly.
“Here,” Steve murmured, pushing the glass of water he had been holding into your hand. You dipped it, muttered thanks, then set it aside.
“So…” he started off. Steve wasn’t looking at you, but at his hands as he fiddled with his hands. “Henderson told you everything?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed. “It was a lot of information all at once,” you recalled through a small chuckle. The chaos that had ensued was admittedly funny in hindsight.
“And what do you think of that information?” he asked cautiously, finally looking up and meeting your eyes. Steve was so anxious and he was sure you could see it. Maybe he’d get some of your sympathy so you would let him down gently.
Instead, you surprised him. “I wish you had told me sooner,” you admitted. You had no excuse not to tell Steve everything now that you knew he felt the same. “I feel the same way.”
Steve’s brows raised slightly and a boyish smile crossed his face. “You don’t know how happy I am to hear that,” he replied, a huge weight lifting off of his shoulder. His heart still raced but in a different way now.
“I guess I was better at hiding it than you,” you teased. “I mean, I didn’t know—but they did.” You gestured to the kids with a tilt of your head. “Seems like I need to pay better attention.”
You both laughed at that. “I should’ve just said something. I didn’t want to screw things up,” he confessed. Steve then chuckled to himself. “I can’t believe Henderson told you.”
“I guess he did us a favor, huh?” You suggested.
“You’re welcome!” Dustin called over to you. Great, so they had been eavesdropping. It was naive to believe they were actually minding their own business.
“Hey, Dustin?” Steve spoke up now that he knew he was listening. You threw a glance towards the boy and saw he was looking at you guys now.
“What?”
Steve smirked to himself before saying, “Close your eyes.”
Dustin furrowed his brows at that, not realizing the callback Steve was making until he leaned in to kiss you.
The kiss was sweet and full of love and god, his lips were so soft. You smiled against him briefly before returning the kiss with just as much passion.
“Oh, come on,” Dustin complained, likely averting his eyes.
“Leave them alone! This is a big moment,” Max defended you and Steve. You couldn’t help but laugh and the two of you pulled apart, both with smiles on your faces.
“I can’t believe the first time I got to kiss you was in front of,”—he gestured to the teens—“them."
"Me neither," you and Dustin replied at the same time.

Tumblr media
Chicago: Summer of 1993
It's only his 5th trip up and down the steps in the last hour, and Steve has about had it. Being left to haul a car full of Robin's personal belongings and boxes up the three flights of spiraling staircases to their brand new apartment building while she goes off in search of dinner and some help wanted signs seemed like a good idea at the time. It wasn't until he opened the hatch and saw how MUCH she actually packed did he immediately regret his choice to stay behind. He stood there regretting his current situation in an unfamiliar, bustling and loud city while sweat beaded on his hairline and flush spread across his cheeks in the humid June air.
Muttering to himself as he passes a redheaded teen girl carrying a skateboard who refuses to get out of his way on the staircase, he finally pushes his way through their doorway and he's thankful to feel the window unit he threw in first thing after they arrived starting to rev up and cool down the space. Steve repositions the particularly heavy box full of Robin's things on his hip while he reaches over for his cup of iced water setting on the counter and pooling condensation. Desperate for the reprieve, Steve gulps down an extra large sip and attempts to swallow but all sense of relief washes away as something slams into his whole left side. The glass he is holding ricochets down to the ground while Robin's box of nostalgic memorabilia topples over and spills out too. Hawkins High all over the floor.
"Jesus Christ, Robbie, what the hell!?"
Bending over to start collecting all of Robin's teenage memories, the last threads holding her down to a town that didn't love her as much as she loved it - Steve doesn't hear anything she says when she first lifts her fists over her head and into the air in celebration - barely registering that she body checked the boy as she threw open the door.
"Rob. Robbie, what the fuck are you saying? You're doing the thing… " he waves his hand in her general direction.
"Oh fuck, sorry." Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath to regroup, realizing now that she came in making a whole lot of noise and saying not a damn thing at all.
She takes a deep breath and with a gleam behind her eye proclaims "I landed us a job, Dingus!" Both fists jolting upwards into the air again, he now sees the job applications crumpled up in her fists and yielded like torches.
"Dude, gimmie that." Steve says. "You're gonna ruin it before I can even fill it out. We can't start a new job being that unprofessional. Christ… . What are we doing anyway? Gotta be better than that restaurant gig we both bombed before we left Indiana."
"Ok so, yeah, yeah this has the potential to be better than that. Definitely better than Family Video. For sure. And there's no stupid costume like Scoops. God. That sucked. We should pretty much know how to do a lot of it already and the manager seems like he's kinda chill. I told him I don't really know much about the ... uh...topic…but uh…that I'm a fast learner and he said we start on Monday and to bring the paperwork with us." She rambles, motioning to the pages Steve now holds in his hand.
"O-oh kay Robin. Details please. You know them in your head but I don't yet. You-you gotta share."
"Ha! Yeah! Sorry about that, I mean…." while she trails off and starts to fidget, Steve immediately knows there's more to the story.
"Robbie. What are you not telling me? "
"It's called The Hideout. It's on Clark St, just a few streets over. 20 minutes walking - tops."
"20 minutes is doable." he says, and then quips back "Man, don't tell me it's a restaurant. I really didn't want to eat shit at that job all over again. I guess I'll take what I can get so we can at least get on our feet… "
" It'snotarestaurantit'sasexshop!" Robin blurts out in one rushed garble of words.
"I'm sorry, WHAT did you say?" Steve stands with his hands on his hips, looking at her incredulously. "Did you say SEX SHOP?"
Steve is freaking out. He's immediately embarrassed for something he hasn't even done yet. He can feel the tips of his ears going hot and shades of red staining his face and neck in splotches. Are those hives? She's giving me hives, he thinks to himself.
"What am I supposed to tell people when they ask what I do?! What are we supposed to tell the kids back home when they start to call non-stop? What am I supposed to say to my DAD, Robin?" He can feel her mere existance giving him heart palpitations while she looks on at him sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. All he can do is focus on his breathing so he doesn't blow a gasket on his friend.
Among the myriad of other things this move has going for the pair, Robin sees moving to Chicago as her opportunity to live who she is out loud and finally be free of the confines a small town puts on someone who looks a little different, thinks a little different and loves a little different. Steve, just happy for the fresh start and the chance to maybe do things for himself for once, was not really thinking this is how it would all start out, but looking at the excitement on Robin’s face made him soften just a little.
Now pacing back and forth across the entryway to dispel her nervous energy, she looks on at her exasperated friend and he gives her an almost indistinguishable nod of the head in agreement. She smiles softly at him and says, "Anyway, I distinctly remember you once encouraging me to talk about boobies with you, Steve. Lighten up and get ready for tits, dicks…all of it! I'm ready and this city is my sexual awakening!"

So I have this one scene in my head, that won't go away unless someone writes it😅
So it's like 10 years after season 4. Everybody is "grown up" , moved away, married, have kids, etc. They have a reunion at the park in Hawkins/Indy Idk?
Eddie is watching the kids. Suddenly a woman comes up to him saying his kid hit/pushed her kid. Eddie who saw the whole thing, says his kid was just defending them self from her kids bullying. The woman asks Eddie, if the kids mother would agree to this behavior. Cue Eddie calling out Honey! And then introducing Steve as their kids mother🤣
Its not much to go on plot vice, but I'm hoping your amazing brain can fill in the blanks😅
I am a Steve secretly likes being called mom truther. Sorry to everyone who isn't. I full believe Eddie started it as a joke, but he noticed the blush on Steve's face and kept doing it, and then the kids just naturally picked up on it and refer to him as both mom and dad depending on the situation. Imagine the confusion on a teacher's face when their troublemaker tells the principal "my mom is gonna be so mad that someone pushed me" and in walks a raging Steve. It's giving comedic relief. I didn't really include a whole lot of everyone in this, just mentioned it was a reunion and had a few moments with the Party. Hope that's okay, it's just difficult to include EVERYONE in a short ficlet. - Mickala ❤️
-----------------------------------------------------------
They came back to Hawkins as often as they could to visit Wayne, especially once they adopted Hannah. Shortly after Nancy offered to be a surrogate for them, they ended up adopting Hannah’s baby sister, Lucy. In case that wasn’t enough, they still decided to take Nancy up on her offer, and they ended up with twins (“can’t do anything halfway, can you?” was Robin’s reaction) Ben and Molly.
Everything happened so quickly, all within two years, that Steve and Eddie turned to Wayne often as their calming presence.
At six years old, Hannah was a spitfire. She had Eddie’s personality despite not being theirs until she was four: unapologetically herself, loud, dramatic, and so fucking smart it scared them both. Lucy, at two (and a half!), was already well on her way to being the same way.
But this visit to Hawkins was different.
Everyone was back.
All the kids, who were far from kids now, and their significant others and kids decided to have a reunion over Labor Day weekend.
Eddie just got off a tour a few weeks earlier, a tour that proved to be quite chaotic when he insisted his entire family join him for two months on the road. Steve argued that it wasn’t necessary, that they would be fine for two months as long as he called every day, but Eddie wasn’t having it.
They took up a whole tour bus by themselves, but the rest of his band loved the kids. They brought Hannah on stage for soundcheck, they even had special headphones made just for her to be able to watch and play the instruments.
Steve usually used soundcheck time to walk with Lucy, find a place where she can run around and let loose all that toddler energy. Most venues they stopped at had a large backstage parking area for the buses and equipment vans, so while Lucy would run around and find weird bugs and sticks, Steve would push Ben and Molly in the double stroller so they could get some fresh air.
Once the doors opened, Eddie brought Hannah back to him and they went back to the bus so Steve could make them all their dinner, give them their baths, and put them to bed. They’d converted the bottom bunk spaces of the bus to a crib space for the twins and Lucy, and made the top bunk more kid friendly for Hannah.
It worked, and it was fun, and it was an experience that they all were happy to have together, but it was exhausting for all of them.
Being back in Hawkins was almost like a vacation.
Compared to the rush, rush, rush environment of tour, Hawkins was sit back, relax, enjoy the breeze.
Especially because everyone wanted their turn holding and playing with the kids. There were some points in the day that Eddie didn’t even know which adult his kids were with, but he was fine with it because Steve was sitting in his lap, more relaxed than he’d been in close to a year.
“Love you, Stevie,” Eddie mumbled against his hair, smiling as Steve curled further into his chest.
“Love you, too, baby.”
“Well aren’t you two just adorable,” Wayne said as he took the seat next to them, Ben asleep in his arms.
“When did he fall asleep?” Steve asked, voice low so he wouldn’t startle Ben.
“You can go set him in the pack and play.”
“Nah. I wanna get as much time with these kiddos as I can,” Wayne said as he smiled down at Ben.
“Is Molly sleeping anywhere?” Eddie asked.
“Last I saw, Max was trying to get her to crawl in the living room, but I don’t think Molly is very interested.” Wayne started rocking back and forth slightly, like he did anytime he held a baby, whether they were asleep or not. “I heard Hannah ask if she could go to the park. If you wanna take her and Luce, we can keep the babies here for a bit.”
Eddie patted Steve’s back, silently asking him to let him up.
“I can take them. Stevie, you can stay here and get some rest.”
“No, I’ll come. Lucy will want someone to push her on the swings the whole time and Hannah won’t want to even look at the swings. It takes two with them.”
They made their way into the house to collect Hannah and Lucy, smiling at the way Max and Will were trying to bribe Molly to crawl with toys.
There was only one actual park in Hawkins, and the playground had only been added about five years ago as more people started moving back into town. It wasn’t impressive, especially compared to their Chicago parks and playgrounds, but Hannah and Lucy weren’t picky.
As expected, Lucy ran straight to the swings, yelling “Ma! Push me on swings please!”
Steve rolled his eyes fondly, but followed her over to them, preparing himself for the next 30 minutes of pushing her back and forth.
Hannah, well, she was a wild child. Literally, Eddie has had to drag her out of a hole she dug in their backyard once because she thought it could be her new bedroom. She cried when she thought that the bugs would hate her for leaving them. She found fun in any outdoor environment, which was good because the playground didn’t have a whole lot to offer other than one slide, a small set of monkey bars, and one tube to run through.
There were only a few other kids playing, all the parents standing off to the side or sitting on the bench.
All moms who would probably not want to talk to Eddie, especially if they recognized him and had been living in Hawkins during the whole, well, thing.
He stood away from everyone, just keeping an eye on Hannah, but occasionally looking over to Steve and Lucy. Lucy was ecstatic, he could hear her yelling “High! Up! High!” and Steve smiling as he pushed her just a tiny bit higher.
It was during one of those moments that he heard a yell and then heard someone walking over to him.
He turned to see a woman, probably pretty close to his age, coming up to him with a stern look on her face.
Oh boy.
He sighed as she stopped in front of him, her arms crossing over her chest.
He glanced at Hannah, who was being shoved by a boy maybe a year or two older than her. Hannah just raised her brow and shoved him back.
He looked back at the mom in front of him, assuming she was the boy’s parent.
“May I help you?”
“You may. Your daughter just pushed my son!”
“Is your son the one I just watched shove her?”
“If he did, it was to defend himself.”
“Hm.” Eddie glanced back up to see the boy crying and Hannah walking towards him. “Maybe your son should keep his hands to himself if he doesn’t like being pushed.”
“Maybe your daughter should learn to move out of the way.”
Eddie smirked as Hannah came up next to him.
“Hannah, wanna tell me what just happened?”
“He told me that I was too fat to go on the slide so I told him I would show him that I wasn’t. And then he tried to pull me away and I didn’t let him so he said that he was going to push me off the top. He tried to, but I’m strong, so he couldn’t. I pushed him back.”
Eddie nodded.
It’s not that he thought his kids were perfect. Far from it.
He got calls frequently from Hannah’s school that she was being too rough with the kids, and he had to remind her that a lot of kids don’t play that way. She never had bad intentions, she just didn’t know how strong she was. Kind of like a large breed dog thinking he can still sit in your lap when he’s fully grown.
But he also knew that because she had never had bad intentions, there was no way she did anything that wasn’t in defense of herself.
“It sounds like your son was rude and put his hands on her first,” Eddie said to the woman, who was turning a violent shade of red.
“There is no way her mother would allow her to act like this. This is inappropriate for young girls.”
Even Hannah knew that was the wrong thing to say.
She covered her face and shook her head and Eddie couldn’t hold back a laugh.
“What is so funny?” the woman asked angrily.
“Her mother is the one who taught her how to defend herself, but if you’d like to talk…” Eddie turned to the swings, where Steve was focused on Lucy. “Sweetheart! Can you come here for a second?”
Steve looked over to him with a frown, grabbing Lucy from the swing and mumbling something to her when she looked disappointed that they were done.
“What’s going on?” Steve asked as he looked down at Hannah, who was patiently waiting to see what Steve was about to do to this woman.
Eddie absolutely loved his children equally, he really did. But Hannah was something else entirely. He felt connected to her in ways that he hadn’t expected when they first met her. If it were possible, he would think she was his biologically with how similar they were in personality, how they both had the same dark curls, brown eyes, loud laugh, and smirk.
The woman seemed surprised to see Steve come over, but quickly went back to the angered demeanor of a moment ago.
“Your daughter tried to hurt my son.”
This woman was not going to convince Steve of that even if she somehow managed to record it on camera.
“What did your son do?”
“I beg your pardon! He didn’t do anything except try to take a turn on the slide.”
“Right.” Steve looked at Eddie, who gave a small shake of his head, then down at Hannah who did the same. “My sources seem to remember things differently.”
“Ma, he said I was too fat and then tried to pull me away!” Hannah was getting more upset now, not because she was in trouble, but because it was interrupting her playtime.
“Which one is your son?” Steve asked.
Oh no. That was the bitchy tone.
Eddie loved where this was going.
“The one getting off the slide,” the woman pointed, but immediately tried to start arguing. “She had no right to push him no matter what he may or may not have said.”
“The kid who is currently pushing another girl out of his way?”
The woman looked over and gritted her teeth together.
“Daddy, Ma, he’s mean!” Lucy yelled as she held Hannah’s hand.
“Yes, baby, he is being mean. That’s why we taught you and your sister to stand up for yourselves when someone is bullying you,” Eddie said pointedly.
“Kids like that grow up to be mean adults who don’t have friends and raise their own kids to be mean,” Steve added with a glare at the mom.
“We all have to take turns on the slide,” Hannah nodded in agreement.
“Ma! Ma! Swing again!” Lucy suddenly yelled, totally over the way this conversation was taking away from her valuable swinging time.
“Sure, baby.” Steve turned to the seething woman in front of them. “Are we done here or do I have to go on about how your son is going to peak in high school just like you did?”
She stormed off without another word, no match for Steve when he was in Mama Bear Mode.
It was so fucking hot.
Steve sighed.
“I’m proud of you Hannah Banana. You okay?” Steve knelt down so he was eye level with her, and pulled her into a hug.
“Can we go to another park, Ma?”
“Sorry, baby, this is the only one here. We can go back to Papa Wayne’s house, though.”
“Can I swing with Lucy?” Hannah asked.
“Of course. How about we swing for another ten minutes and then we get some ice cream?”
Eddie perked up at that.
“Ice cream!”
“You’re worse than the children,” Steve smirked at Eddie.
“Ice cream!” Lucy yelled.
“Can I have strawberry?” Hannah asked excitedly.
“Sure,” Steve ruffled her hair. “Strawberry’s my favorite, too.”
“Brownie!” Lucy yelled, eyes wide.
“That’s my girl! We’ll get brownie ice cream,” Eddie said as he lifted her up into his arms and walked her over to the swings.
The rest of the afternoon was uneventful, which is exactly how they liked it.

I see your Robin and Steve are platonic soulmates, "we make each other better" and raise you Eddie and Nancy chaotic soulmates "we can make each other worse".
They start to get along while Eddie is recovering in the hospital. She is personally offended by the witch hunt for poor Eddie and starts planning. Her first real interaction with him is after everyone has left for the day, so she sneaks in and immediately goes "I know everyone here is being all love and positive, but i am here for revenge. You in?" Eddie immediately loves her.
They plan for months on how to get back at Jason and his band of clowns.
They really click because they share the same rebellious spirit that no one else seems to really understand. There's a deep anger for societal situations, expectations and morals that just crushes their soul but no one else gets it. They love their friends and they all feel like outcasts in some way, but it is not the same resentment they hurt from.
Nancy defends Eddie with her life, Eddie's own feral dog. Eddie is the same, when disgusting men say shit to her or expect her to submit to them only because she is a woman. He is having none of that and he will slam them to walls and letting Nancy give the last blow. Not physical but verbal. Woman will crush a man's soul. And if later in there are rumors of them having small dicks, then thats just a coincidence.
Her and Wayne love each other from the get go, when she comes in to the trailer and easily greets him "hi Mr. Munson". Wayne gives her a look and goes back to reading "Just Wayne is fine." Nancy doesn't even look at him as she makes her way to Eddie's room "Okay then. Hi Just Wayne" and closes the door. Wayne just smirks and shakes his head. He didnt think he would get another Eddie, yet here he is.
They become the other inseparable pair. They are always together, joined at the hip. They don't share a braincell, they are all Nancy's but Eddie borrows some from time to time. Only to cause chaos. They have full conversations with just a look and it annoys everyone around. So they do it even more.
The best part is when they slowly start noticing the other falling for their respective platonic duo doofus and mock each other for it. "Are you really in a place to mock me, when Steve is your literal ex?" "Yeah well I was a young and dumb" "I'm still young and dumb" "Young is debatable" "Hurtful and unnecessary. Not like Robin is any better" "She uncovered a secret russian code???" "She also is currently sporting a broken pinky and a nice black eye because he tripped on her own feet" "..." "That's what I thought" They love spending time together, just existing next to the other. Nancy studies and goes over homework and assignments. Eddie writes lyrics or just reads next to her. Turns out they both love the same kind of books and its a favorite pastime of them. Just going to the hill, laying on the grass and reading peacefully. No one else gets it, but they dont care. They get it and that's all they need. Eventually, once they all get their shit together, a new issue arises. Robin and Steve are very jealous of their best friends and the amount of time spent with them. This only spurs them on. Steve: Why is Nancy here? Eddie: She set this up? Steve: But you saw her yesterday! Eddie: So??? Steve: So its MY turn today! Eddie: Steve, Robin is literally sitting on your lap.. Steve: Don't change the subject! Nancy: No no, please explain that..
Long story short, let them be best friends. They deserve it.

Headcanons for being Robin's cousin and Steve Harrington falls for you...
Tumblr media
You come to stay with your cousin Robin since your parents are splitting up and everything's just a bit messy and complicated so you go stay with your aunt and uncle and cousin.
Growing up, you and Robin were always best friends, crazy and always getting into some sort of trouble and it wasn't any different years later.
You and Robin were still close, the two of you regularly called or wrote to the other, so it was never awkward when you weren't together because you had always been the best of friends.
Robin immediately tells you about all the insane stuff that's happened in Hawkins, she can't hold her own water, and you're amazed.
It's not long before you meet Steve.
And my god, he is gorgeous.
Pretty much instantly, Steve is yours. He gawks at you, hissing to Robin, "That's your cousin?! Holy shit!"
Robin rolls her eyes, "Dude you promised you wouldn't fall for them!"
But it's too late.
When you start chatting and getting to know him, it solidifies the deal and the two of you are making heart eyes across the table at one another from day one.
Seeing the two of them together is hilarious, the bounce off the other so chaotically and adding you into the mixture makes things three times as bad.
It's then you meet the rest of the gang - Dustin and his friends, Nancy and Jonathan and Eddie.
You know all about Nancy and Steve's history, Robin told you everything, so the more you got to know Steve and the more you saw the two of them together, the more jealous you got. Nancy was lovely, beautiful and strong and it was clear that there was a lot of love and history between them so naturally you were a little jealous.
One night, after a party at Steve's, you and Steve, drunk as all hell, start to have a deep conversation. You talk about how hard it's been dealing with your parents divorcing, dealing with the anger and the hurt from that had been awful. Steve talks about how even though his parents are together, he feels isolated and alone. A boy in a big house all alone. His parents don't really care, don't really contact him unless it's something important... He holds a lot of anger around that and the two of you grow closer.
It doesn't take long until Steve confesses his feelings to you. Before he does though, he asks Robin if it's okay. He doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable but she gets it from both sides - literally. She knows how much you like him from your rants and raves about him and he's the same.
You and Steve get together but there's a nagging feeling in the back of your mind and Steve can tell. He doesn't push but one day, it all comes spilling out. You tell him about your worries that he still has feelings for Nancy, that if given the choice he'd pick her again over you.
"Never. (y/n)... I loved Nancy, yeah, I didn't think I'd get over her... until you came to town. The day I met you, I knew there was something about you and I was right. You are batshit insane sometimes it's scary what your mind comes up with, you're hilarious, you understand me, you relate to me... It's you I'm in love with, not Nancy, not anyone. If given the choice, I'd pick you again and again."
From then onwards, you trust him one hundred percent and even find yourself in some crazy, mindboggling situations.

...You Make Lemonade
A little snippet based on a comment made by @straight4joekeery in my "When Life Gives You Lemons..." post. "Women are like lemons, I love lemons!" I loved it so much, I had no choice but to write an entire fic about it!
~*~*~*~
Everyone knew that Eddie Munson was a weird kid. He had long hair, listened to music that was more screaming than singing, and never bent to fit any mold. So why would he conform to society’s boring sayings when he could make his own? Ever since he was a kid, he’s had a habit of constructing his own phrases and idioms.
Sometimes it would be something close enough to the original idiom that no one would call him out on it. The phrase, “I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it” has become a common one amongst the boys of Hellfire. He used to say “he’d kill for less” but that seemed a little too brash in light of what occurred over Spring Break what with his murder accusation and innocent teens dying.
Nevertheless, some of Eddie’s more outlandish sayings had worked their way into everyday speech for the Party. It wasn’t uncommon to hear one of the kids talking about the “devil kicking their kidneys” during physical exertion or mentioning how “neutral, and not even chaotically” people were when they bored them (a reference to Eddie’s least favorite moral alignment in D&D). However, the sayings always seemed stranger coming out of Lucas’ or even Dustin’s mouths than they did Eddie’s.
The point is, everyone that has ever met Eddie knows that he can say some pretty off-the-wall things. However, Steve had never been privy to the sayings with Eddie’s odd twists until a random weekday afternoon spent getting high in his trailer. It all started because the weather was getting warmer. Eddie was supplying the weed so Steve brought refreshments for the both of them to enjoy.
“Do you want some lemonade?” He asked him, his hands already passing him a bottle.
Eddie nodded. “Well, you know what I always say. Men are like lemonade and I like lemonade.”
Then he took the bottle and a long gulp.
Steve paused for a moment and just stared at Eddie. Was this a big coming out like it had been with Robin in the movie theater bathroom? What had Robin told him to say in this situation?
“Um, thank you for telling me. I’m honored that you trusted me enough to divulge that information about yourself and I accept you.”
Eddie turned to him with barely concealed panic in his eyes but that quickly turned to mirth upon hearing Steve’s reply. “That was the most rehearsed and scripted response I’ve ever heard. How’d you learn that, did you see it in a PSA?”
“No! Ro- my friend told me that’s what sh-they wished someone had said to he-them,” Steve stumbled. Holy shit, he almost outed Robin. That’s like the worst thing you can do to a friend!
Eddie looked at him fondly. “That’s adorable, Stevie. Also, I know about Robin.”
“What?! How do you know about Robin?”
“Birds of a feather, Steve. They flock together,” he commented wisely and took another drag of their shared joint.
“Oh, that makes sense. That’s probably why I’m friends with you guys. You know, because I’m bi.”
Immediately, Eddie’s eyes went wide and he took a sharp inhale which caused him to cough uncontrollably. Once his breathing started to return to normal, he choked, “bi?”
Steve nodded sagely, “yeah, bi. As in bisexual. That’s what you call it when you like both guys and girls.”
“I got that,” Eddie said, rolling his eyes dramatically. “Just you? You’re the straightest person I’ve ever met.”
“Hey, don’t insult me! Just because I still like girls doesn’t minimize my attraction to guys. I’m going to tell Robin that you-”
“No, no, no! I’m not judging you, I’m just surprised. But uh, thank you for telling me.” Eddie leaned over the space between them and gave Steve’s shoulder an awkward pat.
“Okay, what the hell was that?” Steve asked him in the bitchiest tone he could muster. “Give me a hug like a normal person.”
Eddie gave a long-suffering sigh but the grin on his face showed his jest. “If you wanted to get your hands on me, you should’ve just said so.”
When Wayne walked in on his nephew and Steve Harrington making out on his couch just a few hours later, he couldn’t even say he was surprised. Scarred forever and washing his eyes out with soap? Yes. But not surprised.

I was talking with @yournowheregirl about Wayne and his iconic flannels so in honor of her birthday (congrats Alice!!!) here are the headcanons we came up with (and some more, it’s my present for you i guess ❤️)
Wayne doesn’t consider himself a hoarder, but he’s definitely a collector. Mugs, trucker hats, Johnny Cash records - and flannels. He doesn’t care much for clothes, but these are comfortable and he never throws any of them away, so his whole closet is filled with them.
Eddie steals Wayne’s flannels all the time. As soon as he gets home and wants to change into something comfy, he gets his hands on one of Wayne’s softest flannels (which he also uses as pajamas). There’s nothing that makes him feel safer than the scent of his uncle’s flannels.
Wayne always pretends to be annoyed by Eddie’s constant thievery but he secretly loves seeing his nephew in his own clothes. He’s got plenty of them anyway.
When Steve and Eddie start dating, Steve naturally starts stealing Eddie’s clothes, so it doesn’t take long before he starts stealing Wayne’s flannels thinking they’re Eddie’s
The first time Wayne sees Steve wearing his clothes, he’s really fucking confused. Steve’s mortified when he finds out he’s been walking around in Wayne’s flannels all the time. He won’t ever stop apologizing, but Wayne just laughs, tells him to shut up and pats him on his shoulder. He decides in that moment that anyone who wears his clothes is essentially his family.
Saturday mornings are Munson family time, traditionally. They sleep in and have an elaborate breakfast together, some old country record playing softly in the background. Steve joins them whenever he doesn’t have to work the morning shift at Family Video. One time, all three of them appear at the breakfast table in unintentionally matching flannels. After that, the matching flannels become part of their little breakfast tradition.
Wayne doesn’t have the money to give Steve a proper birthday present, but he can give him one of his most beloved old flannels. Steve almost cries when he opens his gift.
The trailer park basically becomes the party’s designated hangout spot. It’s not the most spacious place, but it’s by far the coziest. This results in Wayne basically adopting the whole party one by one. Max is the first of them to get one of his flannels after an incident in which the sleeve of her hoodie caught fire. (She’s never again allowed into the kitchen after that.) Soon after, all the others one-by-one mysteriously end up with worn-out soft flannels of their own as well. Robin wears the look best and Erica is practically drowning in hers, but they all love their flannels equally.
Eleven already has a closet full of Hopper-clothes, and her Wayne-flannel fits right in. Hopper, however, notices immediately that the new addition is not one of his clothes and he gets unreasonably jealous about it. Joyce will never let him forget that he used the words “dad-cheating” when he was ranting about it to her. (He actually becomes besties with Wayne later, though.)
For father’s day, they all get together at the trailer to surprise Wayne with a group picture in which everyone is wearing their Wayne-flannel. Eddie and Steve are at the center of the picture, arms around each other and matching wide smiles, and everyone else is kind of piled around them chaotically. Dustin took the whole thing one step further and is even wearing a cap with a truly hideous plaid pattern. Wayne doesn’t cry often, but he may or may not have something in his eye when he sees the picture for the first time.

steve and eddie as roommates.
steve‘s actually kind of good at cooking since he‘s probably had to cook a lot for himself with his parents never there and he loves cooking for the kids, so he always cooks for him and eddie now, while eddie sets the table for them.
they make a point out of eating dinner together every evening because they‘ve both had very chaotic lives up to this point and i imagine they grab onto every constant they can get into their daily routine.
one day eddie has to miss their dinner because something work or college related comes up and steve just sits at home like. oh shit. i‘ve gotten WAY too used to this.
and he tries to not feel the way he always did when his parents missed important things like his birthday dinner that they had planned weeks before or the celebration they were supposed to have for his graduation that they never did because they surprisingly met their friends on their business trip and they couldn‘t just leave them there without spending some time with them, could they?
because this was just dinner with his roommate, not anything more. but maybe eddie did feel like family by now. maybe more than his parents ever did.
but then after half an hour of trying not to feel too sorry for himself he hears the front door unlock and eddie walks in. eddie tries to act casual about it, but he couldn‘t stand the thought of steve just sitting there alone when they had done this together every night since they‘d moved there.
and goddamnit, maybe he just wanted to talk to him about his day and listen to him rant about whatever robin had told him at work while trying not to get distracted by the way his big eyes wandered over eddie’s face, and what about it?
so he sets the table and steve brings their two portions (that he‘d cooked anyways, even if eddie wasn‘t actually supposed to be here) out of the kitchen and they both try to not show their relief about being together again, and so what if they both fail at it. eddie tells steve his work (or college) thing got cancelled. it didn‘t.

The Hawkins home team lost, and while in their home football field nonetheless. Everyone was bummed out, especially after the whole marching band knocked it out of the park that night. It had surprised you how well you all managed to get your act together when prep had felt so chaotic. But you did, and the team losing had dampened the mood. So, in an effort to bring the mood up, everyone decided to go as a group to the new ice cream stand next to the park.
You changed clothes and carpooled with some friends, all of you buzzing with the adrenaline of the night. Before you knew it, you were standing in line for ice cream behind none other than Robin Buckley. Once you realized that, you prayed she wouldn't turn around and see you were the one behind her.
Yes, you were in the same band group, but she only ever threw you heavy glares when you met eyes. It always made you turn away. You would never admit it, but deep down she intimidated you, all with her dumb pretty eyes and stupid beaming smiles. The guy she was with, not so much. Steve was a dork, but you intended to keep your distance from him as well. They seemed happy together. The last thing you wanted was to cause tension in their relationship somehow. Sure, they never announced any relationship, but you got a certain vibe from them.
Pining felt like an understatement when it came to Robin. You never understood why she glared at you, but somehow you still found yourself falling for her. You loved her sense of style and she wasn't half bad at trumpet. You could pick out her laugh in a crowd, always giving you a boost when you heard it. You adored listening to her ramble on in class when she would present a project too. She seemed to do no wrong… except seem to hate you.
In the tiny town of Hawkins, it felt wrong looking at another girl in that way, especially one that didn't like you. But now in senior year of high school, the truth slowly wasn't feeling so wrong. That was until you saw her with Steve so often all of a sudden. Now it felt hopeless… and it made you more jealous than you thought you could get. Angry in fact. While the attraction was still undeniable, it was easier to let her ignore you if you told yourself you were mad at her.
You were pulled from your thoughts as Robin and Steve received their orders. With their leave, you stepped up to the window, tightening the flannel around your waist, and gave your order. Something in a small cup, nothing too big. You didn't want to oversleep the next morning due to sugar coma.
Once you paid and got your order, you began walking over to find the few people in band you got along with the most. Weaving through the small crowd around the stand, you searched until you spotted them over at a picnic table already. You picked up your pace. Out of nowhere, you were cut off by someone whirling around, catching you by surprise and slamming into your chest.
You immediately felt the cold ooze of freezing cold ice cream down your t-shirt and you stumbled back. Your eyes trailed up to see Robin standing just as flabbergasted as you, strawberry ice cream dripping even more so down her shirt. She had changed out of her band uniform and into a white blouse… Now with an added pink splotch right in the center.
Your hand came up in apology. "Oh god, I'm so sorry!"
Robin only grimaced down at her shirt. "Ah, it's uh… Fine," She leaned over and tossed her now empty and crushed ice cream cup into the trash. "Either of you have napkins on you?" She glanced back and forth between you and Steve, her hands pulling at the hem of her shirt.
You both shook your heads, yours much more frantic than Steve's. "They have some bathrooms around back though," You offered. "They probably have paper towels."
She simply nodded and began to stride to the back of the small ice cream stand. You glanced around, from your cup, to your slightly soiled shirt, and then to Steve. Without asking, you put your ice cream in his free hand and dashed to follow Robin. "Woah, hey, I don't-" He tried to argue, but you were gone before he could get any further.
As Robin walked in the bathroom you caught the door behind her, slipping in with her. The bathroom was a single room.
Paper towels ripped and the faucet turned on as Robin began to soak a wad of towels in water. She didn't look at you from the mirror, so you stood awkwardly by the door. What were you supposed to do now? What exactly had been your plan here?
You fumbled anxiously with your hands. "I'm sorry… again," You muttered. She still didn't look at you as she wiped and dabbed at her shirt. The spot looked to be getting bigger. "I can buy you another ice cream?" Once again, no response.
A wave of heat rose up from your gut and your brow came together in annoyance. Why was she ignoring you even now? You were trying to help her.
Eventually she growled and tossed the wet paper towels on the floor with a splat. "Why'd you have to ruin this for me too?" She snapped, aggressively getting more towels from the dispenser.
Your head snaked back in offense. "Too? Look, I've been nothing but nice to you, okay? The least you could do is cut me some slack here."
Robin stopped and looked at you, flames in her eyes. "Nothing but nice? Then why'd you write that note about me?"
You paused a moment, confused. "What note? When?"
"Earlier this year you wrote a dumb note to your buddy Erik about… Like about how I probably had a crusty crotch that smelled like fish?" Her face contorted into disdain as she wildly gestured fresh paper towels. "And now, even though it's completely false, Steve won't stop calling me tuna roll!"
Suddenly it hit you what exactly she was talking about. All the pent up anger at her was suddenly bubbling up out of you at an inappropriate time. "What were you doing looking through my notes? Erik was the only one that saw that and I saw him throw it away." You rolled your eyes. "Plus, that wasn't even about you Ms. The-World-Revolves-Around-Me." You mocked.
Robin barked out a laugh. "You literally used my name. R-O-B," She spelled out as if you were a preschooler.
"Uh, yeah, as in Robert," You smiled deviously. "Mr. Bowen doesn't like when we use his first name. It's an inside joke between me and Erik to call him Robert. I just shortened it that day."
She sighed and shook her head, turning to wet the new paper towels in the sink. "Whatever, I don't believe you."
"Okay, well I got one for you then," You took a step closer to her. "Why have you been such a jerk to me? What the hell else have I 'ruined'?"
She squeezed the extra water from the towels harder than necessary, not meeting your heated gaze in the mirror. "You just stare at me all the time and it makes me feel ways I shouldn't, not to mention you're better in band than me and Mrs. Walsh pays more attention to you and- You know what, no, this doesn't matter," She grumbled, dabbing at her shirt again.
"Uh, yes it does!" You exclaimed, trying to ignore how she said you made her feel. You decided not to read into it, stepping around the sink to face her. "If you have a problem with me, I need to know."
Robin tossed the paper towels into the sink impatiently and finally met your gaze. "My problem is that you're…. You!"
You shook your head, her answer not computing. However, you didn't say anything, distracted slightly by how she actually looked when riled up. Her hair was a little frizzy now and her cheeks were red but in the best way possible. The both of you held your heated stares.
You shook your head again, this time to snap yourself out of your trance. "The fuck does that mean?"
She took a step closer. "It means you're so goddamn distracting that I end up digging through the trash for your stuff!"
Your anger spiked in your chest and you leaned in, accidently looking down at her mouth for a moment too long. "Maybe you should mind your own damn business, Buckley."
She leaned in closer as well. "Maybe you should be less of a bitch."
"Make me."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah-"
She grabbed hold of your jaw, pushing you against the rough brick behind you, and pressed her lips to yours. Your breath hitched, but you'd be lying if you said you weren't begging with your eyes for this to happen.
As your lips began to work in unison, you caught a hint of strawberry. Whether it was from the ice cream or her lip gloss, you couldn't tell. But the sweet taste and the feeling of her body on yours caused ripples to vibrate down to your core.
The room was warm and the anger you both manifested together made your breaths like steam on each other's faces. Just as you found yourself getting into a rhythm, Robin pulled away and you opened your eyes to meet her horrified expression.
Her mouth gaped and closed like a fish out of water. "Shit I-.... I didn't mean to…"
"It's okay, me too," You uttered before pulling her back in by her dirtied shirt. You picked up where you left off, finding your sinful rhythm on her lips once again. She moaned gratefully and her hands trailed up and pressed to the sides of your head in desperation. You returned the gesture and snaked your arms around her waist, pressing the small of her back closer to you. She let out a hot breath at this and immediately brought her knee to rest between your legs on the wall, leaning her full weight onto you.
You got lost in her deeper than you ever thought you would be able to and yet, it still wasn't close enough. With every movement on her lips you tried to push further into her. She did the same, trying to push herself into you as if you both could meld into one. Grabbing hold of her clothes, you pulled at her body, and as you did so her knee suddenly slid up to your crotch and ground into you.
You gasped at the sensation, pulling your face from hers, meeting the wall at the back of your head. She simply followed, smiling into your face as she continued to assault your mouth.
A sudden banging caused you both to jump out of your skin in each other's clutch.
"Hey Rob, everything okay?" Steve called from the other side of the door.
"Shit, boyfriend," You whispered mostly to yourself. You had gotten so engrossed in the moment you hadn't even thought of Steve.
Robin cocked her head at you with a cheeky half grin. "Yeah, all good!" She called back, voice husky, but not breaking her gaze on you.
"Alright, just checkin," He responded. You heard his footsteps fade as he walked off.
She turned her full attention back on you. "Did you say boyfriend?"
You rolled your eyes at yourself. You had done exactly what you didn't want to happen. "Yeah, I know you guys haven't announced anything but-"
Her laughter interrupted you and she leaned back to hold her stomach. "(y/n), no, no, no," She giggled, bringing a hand to her face. "Steve and I are completely platonic. He flirts with any other girl he sets his eyes on… And I honestly couldn't give a shit about it. We're not together like that."
"Oh…" You replied dumbfounded. "That's…. Good?"
She nodded ever so slightly. "Yeah. Good." The look in her eyes described exactly how you were feeling in your chest for her. They sparkled with newfound discovery and understanding of one another.
You looked down at her shirt and smiled. "I don't think that stain is coming out."
Robin took a step back and looked down at the stain. Without warning, she began to strip off her shirt. "Here, just give me the button up around your waist."
You stared wide eyed as she lifted it over her head and draped the shirt over the sink. She looked at you expectantly for you to hand her your flannel. However, you were frozen.
She smirked at your stare that fell on her chest clothed in a sports bra. "For fucks sake-" She leaned over and began untying your flannel, her fingers brushing slightly against a spot of your bare waist.
You averted your gaze, a blush returning to your cheeks. Shit, you really weren't going to be able to stop thinking about her after all this.
Robin slipped on your shirt, fumbling as she buttoned it up.
"So, uh…" You started, a thought occurring to you. "Why did you always… glare at me? If you're, ya know… If you feel like this…" You stumbled with your words, hoping she would understand what you were trying to say.
"Damn it, Steve told me they looked like dirty looks too." She looked up at you from the shirt. "I was trying to… be sexy I guess?" She shook her head dismissively.
Your mouth opened in surprise and you laughed a little too loud. "Sexy?" You giggled. "You looked like you wanted me dead!"
"Sorry about that," She laughed, "I'll have to work on that. Here wipe yourself off," She changed the subject and handed you the wet paper towels from the sink. Right, your own shirt was still a mess.
You kept stealing glances at her as you wiped and dabbed the stain, captivated by her working hands. You watched her try to fight a smile and she stepped in front of the mirror, rolling up the sleeves to the mid arm. "This look alright?" She asked, tucking the shirt into her jeans.
"Looks fantastic…" You breathed. You couldn't fight how much you loved seeing her in your clothes.
She smiled knowingly and grabbed your hand, stepping closer to you. "Your clothes are comfy. Now come on," She grabbed and tossed your paper towels into the trash. Her hand tugged yours with her, stepping back, "You owe me another ice cream."
Just as she pulled you away, you swiped her soiled shirt off the sink, intending to try and clean the stain out yourself at home.
"Still want strawberry?" You stumbled behind her.
"Hell yeah. I want to taste it on your mouth again."
