Some law of talos facts and info off the top of my head (by someone who's very hyper fixated and wants people to know more about it!!!!)
Apparently some people just didn't know that law of talos was an oc tournament 😭??? I thought that was basic info but I guess not! I'm not counting it being a tournament as a fact but more people not knowing (also some people didn't know unknown person had comics for before and after each animation??? There's literally YouTube videos with both idk what to tell you guys 💀)
Unknown persons entries are the most popular, but the 5th animation is non canon! The canon ending was by the winner Blacklillian but it's currently lost media :( there's a description of it on the lost media page, a few meantions of plot points on the tv tropes (example)
Tumblr media
An ask + drawing related to what happened to Karl after on unknown person's tumblr (unknownpsn) we can also gather a tiny bit from the winner announcement post comments, the main point I've noticed is people talking about their disappointment in the lack of action and badly done Karl but praising the more satisfying ending. There was also apparently an epilogue by Blacklillian but that is also currently lost :(
Blacklillians entrees (along with the majority of others) are lost media! Some info can be gathered/interpreted from the lost media page and the tv tropes page (both linked at the bottom along with the intro/winner post for the contest and the wiki) A few entries are up although it's few and far between but I do encourage you to look for them on competitors' deviant art pages (I'll edit this and add list who's is up in a little while) here's a chart of the tournament though!
Tumblr media
Here's chimbley's reference page which is the only known piece for his portion at the moment (please lmk if more has been found) *update you can buy the official chimbley archive on the artist Iris Jay's patreon for just 5 dollars :3 !!!!!
Tumblr media
Chimbley's creator does have Twitter+tumblr but no longer makes content for him so savor what we have. We do know from the tv tropes page that chimbley was more flight than fight and all his competitors were disqualified rather than beaten in a combat (makes me giggle really hard ngl 😭)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Climber and Karl (and Rachel + Clarice obviously) are both part of the unreleased.... comic? Series? (Whatever it was going to be!) Called Castle of nations by unknown person (ofc)! There's not a ton known about it as the actual media was never released/finished and unknown person stopped posting in 2016 but there's lots asks + content on his tumblr if you want to look into it some
Karl was not going to wish for Rachel back despite common misconception! According to unknown person he was actually going to wish for an unlimited power supply to escape the amusement park permanently
There's a silly joke cosplay video called "law of talos chimbley vs Karl live action" that's available on the internet archive but someone uploaded the whole thing on tik tok (linked here) chimbley does a heel click at 8:22 i feel it's important everyone see it.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRgK62j8/
People have also been uploading the voice actors singing various Christmas songs in character I haven't seen them all but I know Karl's video (What's this- the nightmare before Christmas) is pretty available and a clip of Chimbley's (little drummer boy) as also recently been uploaded. I think I saw Steffi's at one point but I don't remember it like at all sorry (EDJT I FOUND IT GUYS I'LL LINK IT BECAUSE IT'S HARDER TO FIND THAN THE OTHER TWO I MENTIONED)
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRgw7FhS/
Speaking of Steffi!!!!! She stars in her very own webcomic "Kiwi Blitz"!!! I'll link it here :3
That's all I can think of for rn I'll make another post if I get more info on the lost media or if I think/learn anything else!!! Here are the links to the law of talos intro/winner post, lost media page, wiki, and TV tropes!!! Once again I encourage you to look through them if you haven't!!!

THEME: Fae & Fen
This week’s recommendations revolve around faeries, either as benign outsiders that are misunderstood, or as malevolent or strange entities that can be horrific threats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Strays, by kumada1.
Strays is a 246 page tabletop rpg about changelings---the children of two fae courts---caught in between the pull of the mortal and fae worlds.
Choose between eight Courts, take special powers, befriend buildings, wander between worlds, and try to get by in a setting where everyone wants you to grow up and pick a side.
There are rules for physical, social, and magical combat. Detailed writeups of the eight Realms of faerie. An overhaul of the regular PbtA rules. GMing advice. A sample scenario. Rules for burning yourself out and becoming an NPC. A shared hangout spot for the party. And more.
This game combines the magic of faerie with the paranoia of a setting where everyone is keeping secrets - even your parents. Your characters have only recently discovered their fae origins, and now that they have magic, all of the Fae Courts - and a mundane Taskforce - want them. This game is PbtA so much of the fiction will follow from what the characters are interested in - what’s on the line if they start pursuing their magic? Will their mortal families pay a price for being unsuspecting hosts? Play to find out.
The Gloaming Diaries, by Timor Jack Press.
The Gloaming Diaries is a tabletop roleplaying game of modern fairy tales in small towns. As a player, you take on the role of the gloamspun, half-human, half-fae beings created when a fairy fleeing eternal war encounters a human seeking change within the Wood. Needing one another, they weave their souls together, becoming one.  Among your fellow gloamspun what unfolds next is a new story. For you have two pasts, but only one future.
Play as one of 10 Paths, each of which describes the human you were and the path that led you to that fateful twilight meeting, and one of 10 Tales, each of which describes the fae you were and the story your magical life told. Were you an Elder entering the woods to die who instead found a new life with a Tale of Mischief? Were you a Lover who slipped into the woods for a tryst and found yourself drawn to join souls with a Tale of Sorrow?
What stories will you tell in your small town at the edge of the woods? For although everyone's a little strange in remote parts, few are as strange as you.
The Gloaming Diaries uses either a d20 or a pack of tarot cards to move the story forward. This game has a Third Party License that outlines the rules for creating your own content for The Gloaming Diaries, and the creator has a number of their own supplements for the game, encompassing everything from violence, death, and dreams.
Changelings: The Magic & The Fury, by Kolek Niewiary.
This is a roleplaying game about changelings i.e. fae creatures (the elves, the faerie, the fair folk) inhabiting human bodies. While in the mortal realm they must control their conflicting nature while fighting for the cause that called them onto Earth.
The players take the role of the changelings. The fair folk, the fae left this world as the civilization developed and banality ruled. Now, recalled by human dreams of a better world, they return as changelings. Infuriated with the world that once rejected them, with the people who killed the magic and replaced it with Excel spreadsheets. The Faerie, wearing a human body, finds a cause to fight for. They come to help the weak and the excluded.
Veterans of Honey Heist or Lasers & Feelings may resonate a little bit with the rules of Changelings, but it draws most of its mechanical inspiration from Wights, by Steffie de Vaan. Your characters, as changelings called forth by mortals to meet injustices with righteous anger, will teeter between the banality of the human world and the Dreams of Faerie. These two stats are called Approaches, and they can increase and decrease depending on character actions. If you’re enthusiastic about justice and faerie magics, this might be the game for you!
Adiotopia, by Minakie.
Adiotopia is a micro TTRPG (for 3+ players) about collaboratively telling the stories of a group of young Protectors in training, who travel between their world (Sanubari) and Fäerie with their mentor in order to help both Saubi and Fae deal with their everyday problems, enforcing the law, mitigating conflicts, protecting people, studying the indigenous fauna and flora and potentially solving mysteries, while always being on the lookout for the dangerous darklings and the unpredictable undead. If you're lucky, you might befriend the dragons or the elves, or even learn a magic trick or two along the way.
The premise of the game is that the world is full of creatures and mysteries worth investigating and that, while some of them might have a simple and rather ordinary explanation, others might not be what they seem at first, and be somehow connected with the multitude of mystical creatures that inhabit the land.
Adiotopia is a great pick-up game that borrows some ideas of magical settings for teenagers and combines it the the allure of Faerie. Faerie is a dangerous and evocative place, with endless possibilities in regards to what the party will find there. Sanubari is home, and comfortable, a place you can retreat to when Faerie becomes too weird or wild. If you like coming-of-age fiction about young people stepping into a magical world and having adventures, this is a great option worth checking out.
Faewater, by A Smouldering Lighthouse.
In the darkest woods, you may find the fae. Old and strange, their power and pleasure can be intoxicating. In the darkest waters, you may find the same.
A group of mortals have gathered to seek the deep fae. Tonight is your final act after months of secret meetings. You must not fail now.
Faewater is a one-page dark fantasy game about underwater fairies and the mortals they prey on. This tabletop role-playing game is designed to be played in a single two to three hour session.
This is a one-page game that explores the horrific side of Faerie - the power and terror of dealing with the unknown. You are mortals diving underwater to find a mystery that proves to be more deadly than you expected, and throughout the game, your character will find themselves replaced by fae creatures. Don’t hold on too carefully to your PC - you’re going to lose them at some point, either to home or to the deep.
Hedge, by A Couple of Drakes.
The Fey were here before we were. They have not forgotten.
Their forms are multitude. Their powers are incalculable. Their mastery of the world, the Wyld, that they fashioned for themselves when nature rebelled against them, is absolute. They press against the edges of our world, watching. Waiting. They pick at the seams and wait for the barrier between us and them to unravel. They are coming. All that stands between them and us is the Hedge. The barrier of Nature's magic which keeps them at bay is weakening. In her agony, the Hedge calls forth her champions.
"My savior, my darling, my cure. Stop at nothing."
Once, you were merely human. Once, the Fey would have looked at you only as a thing to be bent or broken. Or eaten. Now the Hedge has chosen you to stand, to fight, and to shine. Harness the powers of nature, upgradeable weapons, and stolen Fey magic, to fight against hordes of scary faeries.
Hold tight to your humanity as you take the fight into the depths of the Wyld, facing down the Court of Air and Darkness in the heart of their power with six iconic Wardens, 102 awe-inspiring powers, 65 beefy pages of rules and vague-but-evocative lore, and the robust, power-fantasy fueling core mechanics of LUMEN. Hold the line against terrifying foes, collect powerful Fey Grafts, and save what's left of the world from a dark fairytale apocalypse.
LUMEN games excel at providing you with moldable character sheets and satisfying combat, and Hedge is no exception. The Fae are decidedly antagonistic here, and your characters are using every weapon in their arsenal to hold back the horde of fae creatures threatening your existence. There are a number of supplements, such as Horde and Hearth, for players who want to see the full extent of what this game can offer. If you want heroism, combat, and power-fantasy, this is the game for you.

halloooo, little teeny tiny question… what was it like when you were participating in the Law of Talos tournament????
Hello! Law of Talos is around 15 years old now and I can recall many late nights, drawing into the early morning on sheets of printer paper using only a BIC pen as my art tool. I wasn't talented with photoshop and my shading skills were fairly poor, so I scrambled to do my best with what I had. It was stressful and anxiety inducing at times but always exciting for the most part. I wasn't in the best place financially or emotionally during that time, and my interactions online were all I really had to hold onto to stay sane in those days. The OCT community was a mixed bag of people and personalities and unfortunately with the territory came cliques. Law of Talos was a private OCT, invitation only, and a clique was behind its creation and many of the members of that clique were participants in the tournament while others were judges. It wasn't the most welcome environment if you were someone on the outside of the clique, and it was clear that certain people were being favored to win before rounds even started. The amount of bias towards certain participants was constantly palpable during the tournament and I don't suggest anyone who wants to run an OCT ever follow Law of Talos as a example of how to do it. I will say that I did have fun penning Eric Pockets' story. He's been an OC of mine since 2001 and getting to re-imagine him as we got to meet him in Law of Talos was rewarding. He's near and dear to me and I am proud of a lot of the work I put into that OCT. As well, many of the characters from Law of Talos were extremely fun and I had a blast back then discussing character interactions with the other competitors I was friends with. I lament never getting to face certain competitors, as I would have loved to have Eric do battle with characters like Steffi, Murphy, Chimbley Sweep, or Spoiler. A lot of good people entered into that tournament and some I am still good friends with to this day. One is even my roommate. I've discussed with Unknown Person my ideas for what an Eric vs Karl would have looked like and I will always mourn what could have been. I still, to this day, take umbrage with how my character was handled in the round where he was taken out. I do not think it's very sportsmanlike in a tournament where your character is fighting someone else's character to refuse to feature your opponent's character and it is unfortunate that that tactic was used in a couple of my opponent's submissions. Random unexplained demonic possession occurring during a steampunk tournament? Never did sit well with me. I suppose I can say that Law of Talos served more as a cautionary tale for me? My next OCT after that, Escape from Nevara, was somehow even MORE of a shitshow and almost didn't launch with how mangled the leadership behind the tournament was. OCTs are tricky things to run and you need calm, unbiased leadership at the helm with a good, solid idea to serve as a foundation. Ebon Spire to this day stands out to me as the perfect OCT, run well with unbiased judges and a group of participating artists who (for the most part) respected the story and the other competitors and the tourney actually had an ending wrapped up in a nice bow. It's a rare gem in the sea of failed or rotten OCTs. So, I had fun during Law of Talos and I'm glad I got to be a part of it in the end, but it was rife with problems from the get go. Practically a third of the participants dropped out before Round 3 and it was indicative of the health of the OCT itself. It will never cease to amaze me, however, how popular Karl became though, and the fandom that has arisen around Karl, Climber, and the Castle of Nations, paired with the renewed obsession over Law of Talos, is a constant bizarre delight. I'm glad that something I took part in almost 20 years ago is somehow entertaining a new generation of people and y'all in the fandom are adorable. I might not have had the best experience but don't ever let me yuck your yum. Enjoy what makes you happy and be kind to each other.

Under the Protection of Heaven also on ao3
When Steve was young, his parents had a habit of dropping him off at his nonna’s house.
His father’s mother, someone who had seen too much in her life, who disapproved of how much her son traveled, but loved her only grandchild more than anything.
Steve loved going over to her apartment as a child. It was small, their family could have afforded to put her in a larger place, but it was what she wanted. After her husband died, she found she didn’t need much space.
She had her small TV, a couple shelves full of her favorite books, and cabinets full of photos. Photos she loved to show Steve when he asked.
Photos of his father when he was young, his grandfather. Her wedding photos along with his parent’s. Memories frozen on film, looked upon with laughter and tears.
Richard Harrington hadn’t been a religious man since Steve couldn’t remember when, another thing his nonna disapproved of. She was a devout Catholic, something she made Steve aware of even if he wouldn’t step foot in a church until a week after she died.
She told him Bible stories about a man who forgave no matter what, about miracles performed for those who listened, about angels who delivered messages to those who needed to hear them.
There were also the angels who were protectors.
“You are loved by heaven, Steffi,” she said to him once. “Do you know how I know?”
“How?” he asked.
“Do you see this?” She poked at a mole on his arm. “Or these?” His hand, his ankle, his nose.
He was giggling. “They’re moles, nonna.”
“They’re angel kisses, bambino. Someone in heaven is watching over you, keeping you safe.”
She died when was twelve years old. Steve was old enough to not forget her words, but not old enough to understand what her loss would mean just yet.
He thought about her all the time.
There were a few years where, when he thought about her, it was in the context of how much he missed her and her photo albums that his father insisted on putting in storage rather than displaying them.
At least he didn’t throw them away.
Then came the Upside Down. There came heartbreak and fire and monsters, and Steve thought about her more and more.
About what she said about angels protecting him.
Steve had moles all over his body. His favorites were the ones on his nose, cheek, and ankle, but then there were some along his shoulders and near the bottom of his back. A cluster at the base of this neck. Two in a line under his jaw. Even scattered across his torso, arms, legs, and hands.
Someone really wanted him to survive all of this.
He never mentioned it to anyone else. Most of the party would have brushed it off as superstition anyways, always needing to have a scientific explanation for things, so he kept it to himself.
Until one day, he didn’t.
Nancy, Robin, and Dustin stood at his side in the Upside Down during a fateful spring break in 1986.
There had been three mysterious deaths, with a fourth on the way if their suspicions were correct.
The kids were on the run since their D&D club was suspected of the killings. Three of the older members were already behind bars.
This was it. Their last chance to prove it wasn’t their fault.
Steve sent the girls ahead to kill Vecna, shotguns and Molotov cocktails loaded and primed. He stayed behind with Dustin, a distraction, the bait, to make sure they could get the job done.
With his nail bat at the ready, he was prepared for anything to go wrong.
And of course, something did go wrong.
The trailer they set up camp at, the location of the first murder, had been overrun by demonic bats. Steve had jumped into the fray, pushing Dustin back to the other side of the gate and took off running. He got the attention of the bats by banging his bat against the lid of a trash can, effectively drawing them out.
He’d be surrounded at any second, but needed Dustin to be safe, needed Nancy and Robin to kill the bastard once and for all.
If he needed to die for them? So be it.
Steve accepted his fate, turning to fight with what little energy he had left. He swung his bat left and right, taking down dozens of bats, but it didn’t seem to be making a dent in the swarm.
There was no way out. He prayed for the first time in years.
He prayed that his friends would make it out alive. He prayed that Max would be okay. He prayed that this would all be over soon, and everyone could go back to living their lives without the Upside Down and its monsters interfering.
Hopefully his own end would be quick, his angel kisses having been spent on keeping the people he loved safe until the end.
Suddenly, there was a flash of silver.
It was in stark contrast to the black wall of bats all around him. He almost thought he imagined it until he felt someone pressed up against his back.
There seemed to be a light holding the bats at bay.
Had he died? Was this Death come to escort him away from this plane of existence?
No, that couldn’t be it. He would have remembered dying.
He turned to see the figure, and was met with large, black wings.
Wings that were attached to a man, roughly his size, with long, curly hair and dark eyes.
An angel, Steve thought wildly.
“Stefano Harrington?” the angel asked.
Steve nodded, unable to produce a sound.
“I’m your guardian angel. My name is Eden, but you can call me Eddie. Carlotta Harrington sends her love.”
“It’s true,” he whispered. “Angels-”
“You are deeply loved by heaven, Stevie,” the angel, Eddie, assured him. “And you are under my protection.”
The flutter of wings became a comfort rather than the source of nightmares as Eddie wrapped his wings around the both of them. He pulled him close, and kissed him, long and hard on the lips.
The bats fell dead around them, but Steve hardly noticed. He was being kept safe for something larger than himself, and Eddie made sure of it.

Have you ever thought about making AU genderbent designs for the Steven Universe cast (like the Crystal Gems all being male, Steven as a girl aka “Nora Universe”, etc.)?
Ye. I started this drawing somewhere in 2019, but never continued it. The file says "Steffie Universe", didn't even consider the Nora name.

Working on a digimon x Law of Talos/Endzone AU and gave Climber Gomamon X, I felt like their personalities could go well together. I Already have a digimon picked for Karl, Steffi & Benzene, and Chimbley, and Mizuno, just need to draw them and assign digimon to the other characters.
