Remember the homestay or farmstay owner who was an amazing and welcoming host, the car driver & guide who made your jungle safari a memorable one, the person who took you for a boat ride or rafting trip and the kind hotel staff at most of the tourist places who made your stay comfortable. All these people are struggling to pay their loans and rents and many are finding it difficult to make their ends meet or survive. Aurangabad has suffered losses to the tune of a whopping Rs 1,000 crore as tourism activities came to a standstill amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, president of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI), said occupancy in most establishments has not even crossed 10% since opening with 33% occupancy from July after being shut for past 4 months. The losses are mounting and already thousands of employees have already been laid off.
