hey guys, i’m alexa im a 23 yr old mentally/and physically disabled mexican/indigenous american now living in the balkans. as you know I’ve had a gofundme for my spinal operation running for several months now with not a lot of luck. I am suffering from a degenerative spinal cord due to an emergency spinal fusion I received after trying to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge onto a busy freeway. im in and out of wheelchairs/other mobility aids but most of the time I am admitted to full time bed rest. due to not being able to afford my surgery I have had to rely on opiates like tramadol, and palexia as well as arcoxia and morphine (all prescribed) just so im not in excruciating pain but these medications and the visits for my prescriptions refilled are very expensive and my only income in state disability (and u know how bullshit that is)

here’s some of my diagnoses (JUST FOR MY LUMBAR SPINE/PELVIC INJURY)

the more time that goes on, the more opiates I have to use to exist, are only weakening my body even more to the point where arthritis has grown throughout my entire body. it’s painful it sucks ! it sucks even more not being able to eat cus u can’t afford to, not being able to bathe yourself. my life has been spent in constant disability and as someone who is (legally) mentally disabled as well with bipolar 2, early onset schizophrenia, anorexia, autism, adhd, bpd, dpdr, ptsd, developmental disability, and a tonic clinic seizure disorder (seizures caused from stressed), it makes life EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.

We’ve only reached 13% of our goal in MONTHS now in my gofundme but hope still runs strong that me and my husband will get through this and do whatever we can we’re just reaching out for empathy, connection, and a helping hand in our darkest most difficult moment.

Hey, i just wanna thank you for being so open about your spine problems and surgeries. I’m having a C1-C2 fusion next month (which will be my first surgery of any kind), and i know that without your blog i would be WAY more of a nervous wreck headed into this. 💕

Went to watch m3gan on opening night with a friend of mine while high on edibles for the first time and it was a magical experience

It's a fantastic movie to see while high bc the movie knows not to take itself seriously with its premise

The furby lookalike toys at the beginning of the movie evoked a visceral fear within my very soul

Not only did we never get context for why m3gan randomly breaks out into dance before committing acts of violence, but it turns out she breaks out into song too!!

At the beginning of the movie, Gemma mentioned m3gan's spine being made out of titanium, which only made her even more of an icon in my eyes bc I have a titanium spine too 😍 spinal fusion besties<3 my friend and I cackled over it bc we were high

M3gan's wig could've been an anime wig I cannot stress this enough. IT COULD'VE BEEN ANYTHING

You didn't have to be sober to realize that Gemma has the emotional intelligence of a microwave and that she kinda deserved m3gan's torment tbh

The entire theater started giggling when she got on all fours and started chasing a kid through the woods

By far the scariest part of the movie to me was whenever m3gan would mimic other people's voices to lure out animals/people to kill them. That was true uncanny valley shit right there

Speaking of uncanny valley, my friend and I both agreed that m3gan's usual design throughout the movie was far creepier than by the end of the movie when her exoskeleton was damaged. Her endoskeleton just wasn't that menacing tbh

Listening to her break out into song was like if someone randomly started blaring kidz bop at intermittent points in the theater

The funniest part of the movie was when she started singing David Guetta's Titanium to Katie at her bedside. Like it was out of nowhere 😭 caught my friend and I completely off guard and we were cry laughing. As if the spine joke wasn't funny enough on its own 😂

At different parts of the movie my friend and I both thought of plot twists that would've made for better writing than the actual plot twist

10/10 the titanium scene will forever be etched into our minds and this movie is camp as hell, I would not be surprised if m3gan amassed a cult following at some point in time

I kinda want to find a surgeon willing to unfuse my spine from my ribs because this fucking sucks. I'm tired of not being able to sit or lay down or exist in comfort. everything hurts all the time and it's miserable. it keeps me awake when I'm trying to fall asleep because no matter how I lay down it's moving my spine and ribs in a weird way because the two are not supposed to be connected

sorry if youve answered this before but do you have the metal vertebrae from an injury or degenerative condition

The fusion (10 of them in my lumbar & thoracic spine) was from scoliosis

The disc arthroplasty at C5-C6 was from an injury & degeneration following the fusion

So I guess the answer is “yes” 😂

Scolosis surgery

Have you noticed how many act like surgery is a death setence? In a couple months k willl get scolosis surgery. There’s so many websites And organizations

Saying “Oh you don’t need it,”

“Come to our camp we’ll straighten it!”

“We know the secrets!”

“Well put your kid on a diet and some exercises”

It’s all really fucking weird.

People calling the surgery invasive, which I guess it is? However I don’t see it that way

But people are so scared of it, kinda like vaccines.

My surgeon is very hopefull, it seems more benefits then side effects and is the only option, but the ineternet goes insane saying it’s the worse

I don’t see how

I am already in pain and twisted, I don’t see how it could get worse from surgeon

Will I lose mobility? Yes not much thought it’ll be annoying but it’s better

Will there be pain? Yes for s time

Always? According to some internet users yes. However I already have pain so o don’t think that would change much.

I know there are risks but I don’t care

It’s the only thing I can do unless I wanna travel and beg fake doctors to fix me.

After the surgery I’ll be taller which is cool.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, it all could go wrong but I’ll just live with it. I’ll survive.

I know most of yall don't care. But for me this turned out to be the biggest thing so far in my life. As you know, I'm someone who for the most part, talk about music and bands and such things. But as of 10 months ago I have gotten a Spinal Fusin surgery. Is this going to be a long talk probably. I've sorta keep it out of public eye for all my socials, but have always been happy to share the process, and answer questions my friends have. But that doesn't take away how fucking cool I think this is, for other people who have such thing it has brought me so much closer to some people around the world who have same problems and issues, and we'll spinal fusion. And I think my scar is absolutely amazing!!! And now as I go further is recovery. I want to open up and answer your questions, or tips. Because I think it's a cool things that should be talked about. And I will also talk about my experiences with it. As it has been difficult but opened my eyes so much!!
