I know you're like two episodes in but what do you think about Soratobu so far? I really didn't like Inaba at the beginning but my opinion changed after just two episodes! It was the fastest yet somehow still natural character growth I've ever seen in a japanese drama. She's now one of my favorite characters!
very cute show so far. i think her initial unlikability is interesting bc it feels like a unique variety of unlikability for a protag to have. imo it’s true to life, where there are a lot of people who go around not really considering the feelings or humanity of others, not in a hateful way but just in a self-centered one. but conversely it’s rare to actually see a flaw like that in a fictional character (in a fictional woman, i should say) in a pleasant little romance show.
but yeah it’s also nice how quick she turns around and starts trying to be better. when you stare into mr sorai daisuke’s sweet innocent eyes you will soon be experiencing soft earnest feelings too... 🥺

...! ;^;
But really, who fires a gun in broad daylight in the middle of town?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know he’s teasing Shima but wtf are you suggesting, Ibuki?! xD
Tumblr media
So it would be okay if Kikyo invited (weird translation) Ibuki, huh xD
Tumblr media
♪ ~Melon, melon, marugoto melon~ ♪
Ibuki really likes kids! Shima is so done xD
Tumblr media
But he waves at the kids anyway <3 I must say, Gen-chan complaining about a cute song is weird xD
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, the Tiger Mask Donation Phenomenon!
According to the wiki, the first donation happened on Christmas of 2010 in Gunma. The bulk of donations happened on 2011. Ibuki was already assigned to the police box in Okutatama at the time.
(Then the 2011 tsunami happened. I wonder where Kuzumi was at the time...)
Tumblr media
Shima’s bewildered expression when Ibuki told him he tried to imitate the Tiger Mask and sent three backpacks to the institution in the neighborhood... I need to gif all of that!
Ashi naga deka yori = From the long legged detective. I honestly can’t tell if it’s a cute nickname or just a weird one xD
Tumblr media
What a... Super simple room! Surprisingly clean and organized... I always thought Ibuki’s delinquent side never died out completely but maybe I was wrong...?
Tumblr media
Pfff!
Tumblr media
This outfit reminds me of Sorai Daisuke, from Soratobu Kouhoushitsu, also played by Ayano. It’s another dorama from 2013, still on my towatch list. I can’t believe it took me a year to realize Nogi-san is the screenwriter for this one as well.
Tumblr media
Ibuki is still shocked his act of goodwill ended up as a nuisance xD Shima is shocked someone who took part in that phenomenon is so close to him xD
Tumblr media
Ibuki: “But don't you want to do it?”
Shima: “Well, when I saw that phenomenon, I thought that...People who want to do good deeds like that actually exist.”
Ibuki: “Everybody wants to do good deeds, right?”
Shima: “I wonder. On the other hand, nothing turns out well in this world.”
Ibuki: “Why?”
Shima: “To do good deeds, we need to have both heart and money.”
Ibuki: “Then, world peace will come if everyone becomes wealthy?”
Shima: “No, I don't think so.”
Ibuki: “Why?”
Shima: “Rich people do evil deeds to make money.”
Ibuki: “That's not good. After all what they do is evil.”
Shima: “As long as there's money in this world...Crime will always happen.”
Not sure how I feel about this speech... Maybe if I rephrase it?
“To do good deeds you need room in your heart and a surplus of money”. Which is not 100% true. Although money does help a lot! But it means nothing if there’s no room in your heart. Which is why (a huge part of) rich people do evil deeds to make more and more money.
Or something like that. The last part is still... Maybe it’s just a hook for the next scene!

Soratobu Kouhoushitsu: Explanations part 1 (Fanfiction)
Takes place a bit after Sagisaka sends out his mass e-mail. Still the same day though. My first time writing this kinda of thing for a J-drama... and I'm still not very good at writing. Please critique if you think I could use some (or a lot) of work in some places.
Sorai Daisuke scratched his head in his usual anxious way, while Inaba Rika looked on from behind him.
"So... in conclusion..." he was saying, while his boss, Major Yamamoto, was urging, pleading with his eyes for him to get to the point.
"I'd like to request for leave over the next few weeks, please."
Major Yamamoto furrowed his brow, "And for what reason?
               "Um... well the thing is..."
"They're getting married!" said a gleeful voice behind them,
Sorai and Inaba whipped their heads around while Yamamoto's eyes widened at the shock of what he just heard.
"Section chief!" exclaimed Sorai in surprise, instantly coming to attention. "How did you get in here?"
"Sagisaka-san!" Inaba greeted him as Sagisaka casually strolled past the two, directly going towards Yamamoto.
"Major Yamamoto, forgive this old man," he said, clasping the other man's shoulders. "It seems that I've forgotten to e-mail you the picture."
"Eh?" Inaba crossed over to Sagisaka's side in a flash. "What do you mean, picture?"
"No, no," Sagisaka chided her, pushing her towards Sorai as he pulled out his cell phone. "Leave this to your father. I'll take care of this!" he said as he thrusted his cell phone towards Yamamoto.
Yamamoto could only stare at the older man's picture as he nodded with some more understanding. "So that's how it is."
Inaba and Sorai exchanged looks with each other as they watched Sagisaka and Yamamoto exchange conversation in heated whispers.
"What do you think that picture is?" Inaba said as she watched Sagisaka happily gesture, presumably punctuating his story.
"Who knows..." Sorai said, thinking. A blurry memory came to mind as he remembered that Sagisaka had taken a picture of Major Yuzuki and Inaba when they were both drunk. "Ah!"
"What?" Inaba stared at him intensely. "Do you know what that picture is?"
                Sorai shook his head furiously.
Inaba's head dropped as she turned around to watch as Sagisaka was concluding his story. By now, Yamamoto and Sagisaka's eyes were both in tears. Feeling Inaba's gaze on them, Sagisaka beckoned them both forward.
"Children!" he called, as he got off of Yamamoto's desk which he had perched himself upon for his story-telling. "Come here!"
Sorai and Inaba moved carefully forward, Sorai nervously clutching his headdress. Yamamoto's face has buried in his hand as he sniffed and pulled out a sheet of paper from his desk.
With steady hands, he signed off at the bottom of the paper and handed it over to Sorai.
"Congratulations to you both on your wedding," he said as Sorai took the paper. "Sorai, just fill out how much time you need and it'll be approved by the office."
"Is that okay?" Sorai asked, cautiously.
"I think after all you two have been through, it's fine," Yamamoto said, sniffing.
"Now children, what do you say to Major Yamamoto?" Sagisaka said, tilting his head and extending his palms.
For once, Sorai and Inaba didn't mind playing along with Sagisaka's game.
"Thank you very much!" they chorused in unison, bowing towards Major Yamamoto as Sagisaka wiped away a tear dramatically.
"I've raised such good children," he said as he looked out the window.
As they raised themselves from the bow, Inaba and Sorai exchanged another goofy smile with each other, looking back at the dramatic former section chief.
"We should probably also inform Akutsu-san as well," Inaba said. "Hopefully it'll be a bit more easier this time.
