Another great writer love of mine is @fromthedeskoftheraven. She was one of the first writers I found when rejoining tumblr back in 2020 and everything she creates is absolute magic. Her masterlist has so many brilliant stories and I'm having a really hard time deciding which one I like the best. They are all so good!

But if someone were to put a gun to my head and ask for my faves I think I would have to go with You make It Feel Like Christmas, which is a beautiful Javier Peña/f!reader story that captures the feel of a family gathering so well and gives Javier the happiness he so desperately needs and deserves. I've reread this story several times over and it's such a comfort fic for me.

Another absolute gem and favorite of mine is her Whiskey/f!reader series. Visions of Sugarplums is the first part with Whiskey and reader getting snowed in. Raven writes such a perfect Whiskey! He feels in character but at least 100 times better than canon Whiskey! Respectful, flirty, and perfect! Can't recommend this series enough!

But really, you should check out all the stories on her masterlist! They are all so good!!!

And in addition to being a wonderful writer herself, she's also such a supportive reader and the comments she has left on my stories has warmed my heart so many times over!

She's amazing! So go give her some love and support! You won't regret it!

Tip Your Server by @nothoughtsjustmeds I love love love this fic. I love Dieter needing to get reader all hot and bothered while wearing fancy clothes, I love the banter, I love the obvious love these two have, the cavalier throw-away of a precious object, every gesture of affection and its tie to absolute, loving sass. And the prose is so great. This is a masterclass fic.

Strong Enough To Stand by @the-blind-assassin-12 Oof. This both hurt and was satisfying. Joel has a habit of holding onto love and hurt. It's definitely detrimental at times. But damn if it doesn't illustrate how fiercely he loves. Alyssa's lead up story to this--It Pours From Your Eyes--nearly destroyed me, but this one thankfully helped to soothe.

Surrender Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 by @ezrasbirdie Birdie gave us a beautiful reunion and ending for Daisy and Joel and I'm just so proud of her for putting her heart into a wonderful OC. There's so much in this series about learning to love and--even more interesting--learning to BE loved, and both Joel and Daisy are wonderful for that. I know there's an epilogue coming and I will patiently wait for my desert while this meal of a fic settles in my heart.

Saying I love you through an accidental kiss by @songsformonkeys Listen. Joel Miller's got a lot going on today and it's chaotic and you made him food and took care of Sarah and you...you reached for him first. SOFT! CUTENESS!

Spend All Your Love Making Time by @haylzcyon Sub!Joel is my new favorite obsession. He's just so in LOVE with reader, so in thrall and this is hot hot hot.... Those baby browns are certainly made for puppydog wants....

Grumpy Pumpkin by @sirowsky This is just the very cutest. Of course Pero knows his way around knives, but pumpkin carving doesn't go exactly as you planned. In fact, it goes much sweeter.

Seed by @perotovar I love a Pero that is hot for his wife whether or not she can concieve. And that the want for a baby that hasn't come yet doesn't make them sad...it just makes them want to try harder! Soft and sweet and spicy all at once. Just like I like him.

Hello friends. As a lot of you have heard, our community lost one of its leading lights yesterday. Cindy, @keeper0fthestars, passed away after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. It’s still so hard to believe our warm, kind, smart, funny, talented and endlessly encouraging friend is gone. 

If you are seeing this news for the first time, I’m so sorry. Know that you are not alone in your grief and while of course we can’t fathom the loss her family is dealing with, we loved her too and our own grief is very real. Hold your friends and loved ones closer today, literally or metaphorically. I know I am, and I know I learned how from Cindy. 

She touched so many of our lives here. Welcoming new fans and creators with open arms and a kind word. Encouraging fledgling writers to take the plunge. Laughing and crying with us, even when she was fighting like hell. 

Some of her friends have been in touch with her family, offering support and sharing news. I know people have been looking for ways to support her family, share how much we loved Cindy, and come together to mourn this staggering loss. If you would like to be tagged in any updates, whether about sharing kind messages with them, or potentially donating to a charity in her name, please let me know and I will do my best to provide that.

She is such a wonderful person and such a wonderful writer!

I've yet to read through all the gems on her masterlist but the ones I have read have left me completely speechless!

I think the first thing I read by Jess was her Whiskey/reader/Frankie story Stars Hit the Ceiling. It was not a pairing I had expected or thought about before but after reading this story, I was completely sold. It was such an intimate and gentle and beautiful and hot story and I loved it so much!

My fave on her masterlist however is her latest story with Dieter Bravo. Stay on the Screenplay. She took a character that was barely a character in the movie and fleshed him out into such a complex, real, and believable character. She made me fall in love with him and with the reader (that's written so vividly that she feels like an OFC). Jess had me hooked with each chapter of this story. The whole thing reads almost like a poem and she manages to convey more emotion with a single sentence than I've read entire books manage to do.

Jess is truly a master of storytelling and I can't wait to read the rest of her stories! I've had Between the Raindrops saved in my drafts for the longest time, waiting for the right day to read it because I know it will completely wreck me and that I'll never be the same after I've read it.

Sunday | Week in Review VII

Not too much to report on this week - Mr. Truly and I both had the week off and then the little Truly's were thrown off their routine and it's been a week. But it was capped off with a new addition to the household!

Fics I Enjoyed This Week…

Shared Breaths (Frankie Morales) by @frenchiereading This whole series is such a delight to read and let me tell you, chapter nine is worth reading multiple times over, let me tell you that 😏. But this is a perfect story - you've got yearning for the first half and the second half is the play out of a developing relationship that is so fun to watch play out. If you love Frankie, you won't be disappointed in this.

Turbulence (Frankie Morales) by @rhoorl Jess' first run at a one-shot on our main man this week Frankie does not disappoint! I don't mind flying, but I can guarantee any flight sitting next to our aviation expert Mr. Morales is going to be a lot smoother. This is such a fun read and I really hope we see him again in a possible continuation of this.

Saying I love you through an accidental kiss (Joel Miller) Pre-Outbreak by @songsformonkeys This one reappeared on my dash this week and it's always worth a re-read and always one I'll recommend. It's Joel at his most hectic, which is very much how I picture pre-outbreak Joel and just the build-up here and the kiss is such a toe-curling delight to read, that I squeal each time even though I know it's coming.

Strawberries (Joel Miller) by @softlyspector This is set after Clouds, but doesn't have to be read first before this one. This explores Ellie and Joel's relationship after the events of TLOU and delves into TLOU2 territory (no spoilers in either one-shot). As much as I love the idea of Ellie and Joel living happily ever after in Jackson - I do enjoy an angsty dive into their relationship as it is in the TLOU2 games. This and Clouds are excellent takes on this!

Hungry Hearts | Epilogue + Bonus I Wanna Mary You (Joel Miller) by @atinylittlepain How my heart wasn't ready for this to end - but Gin gave Jerry the send-off they deserved and not only that, we were treated to a bonus second part to the epilogue that I'm still raving about! Honestly, who wasn't reading this? But if you weren't, I suggest you do - you can binge all the posted chapters! Jerry4Eva! 💘

Candy (Dieter Bravo) by @secretelephanttattoo I imagine any date with Dieter to be chaotic and El does such a great job of describing such an event here. I feel like a broken record with how many times I referred to it as such, but it really is a deliciously raunchy romp and I'd gladly go for Ray-Ban candy floss with Dieter any time if this is the end result.

Working Title (Dieter Bravo) by @rhoorl Finally got to reading this and devoured it all. It reads like a fabulous romance novel you’d read at the beach and then want to re-read again because it’s just that enjoyable! Plus the last chapter? My loins have not recovered lol, cannot wait for the next update!

Conversations with a Movie Star | Chapter 3 (Dieter Bravo) by @gnpwdrnwhiskey Aside from my own OC x Dieter, this pairing is hot on their heels for the title of favourite OC x Dieter. Ava keeps Dieter on his toes and has made herself at home at the Bravo Inn. The descriptions of landmarks in Myrtle Beach are fantastic, the chemistry is *chefs kiss*, and the way @gnpwdrnwhiskey writes Dieter 'Anthony' Bravo is fantastic. Please do take some time out to read this series - the premise alone is superb, you won't be disappointed - trust me!
