After the closure of the Mid Sodor Railway and being sold to the Peel Godred Aluminum Works, Falcon and Stuart were the closest thing each other had to any sort of home.

Stuart tried to stay cheerful enough for the both of them, but it was much easier said than done.

#before the official 'decline' of the msr (selling half of the engines and closing part of the line) #falcon and stuart considered themselves to be friends #and they eventually came to see each other as being like brothers as they grew up together under duke's teaching #after their other friends were sold off they (along with duke) became much more important parts of each other's lives #but it was after they were sold to the aluminum works when they became incredibly close and amost inseparable #it was not a very loving environment and so through the unfortunate circumstance they quickly became each other’s 'home' #they remained as such through their transfer to the skarloey railway and thus their name changes #although sir handel had come out worse from the aluminum works and was not a very cooperative engine #and sir handel became rather jealous and upset with how quickly peter sam befriended rusty #but he got over it once he also got on rusty's good side (after a bad first impression) and all three got along from then on #with both sir handel and peter sam eventually adopting the skarloey railway as their new home #they're not as dependent on each other as they once were which is refreshing and good for both of them #but they are still much closer and more comfortable with each other than they were before the msr's closure #and when duke was rescued and restored he was pleasantly surprised to see how close his boys had become #and duke was welcomed into the railway's family with open arms-- er-- buffers #ttte peter sam #ttte sir handel #ttte headcanon #(especially in the tags I think) #my doodles #my post

For the Umbreon/Parasect fusion design (right), I took the concept of the cordyceps fungus and went darker with it- really emphasizing the zombified, overgrown, and deteriorating host body- and added various other types of fungi and molds to increase visual interest. There are things I would change if I were making this adopt today, but I still like it a lot!

I wanted to keep things a bit simpler with the Eevee/Paras pre-evolution (left). You can see in the eyes that something is going on in their mind, but for the most part, the spores and mushrooms on its body are only superficial, and are not influencing their host (…yet).

#hey guys I’m about to go to work but I’ve seen so many lovely tag comments on my harp covers #I saw one saying ‘how do you even end up in a position to be able to learn a harp!’ #and I wanted to reiterate. the classical music world is incredibly steeped in classism and racism. it’s inherent #because most music is written by ethnic Europeans and stems from the origins of western music which is the Catholic Church #it was a major tool in colonialism and it’s adoption as a means to validity in a white supremecist system can be seen echoing in China’s #current fascination with western orchestral music. but they’re also subverting it by reimagining their own instruments in the orchestra #anyways that’s a rabbit trail but what I’m saying is #for some reason I asked to play the harp when I was three. my parents were working class and non musicians. my dad is Mexican. we used to #barter lessons for yard work and painting (thankfully my harp teacher was a wonderful woman who allowed that) #my dad took out a home equity loan to afford my first large harp #I got the one you see in the vids because a close friend of my teacher was dying of cancer and sold it at a loss to me #this is a field with SO many barriers #every single person I went to grad school with had money out their ears #I have a heap of student loans and currently no permanent harp job #I guess I’m saying. I wish access to instruments like mine was easier for everyone but it’s rare because it’s gatekept #so just keep that in mind. you could just have easily have been a harpist if the world were more equitable and fair #I’m always open to people reaching out and asking questions about the instrument and music in general #love u guys

I think one of the greatest plagues to fanfiction and good writing in general is a phenomenon I like to call

"The Pain Olympics"

It's where a particular genre or fandom goes through their own little emo phase and now every MC has to fucking suffer for a sliver of happiness. And not just suffer either! Out suffer every other MC for as long as humanly possible, and then another few laps for good measure.

Look, I'm a slut for hurt/comfort. I didn't scrape the HP fandom clean several times because I thought Harry was cute. But like... Your character doesn't need to have words carved into their body or be sold into a child SA ring just to earn the chance to one day be told they're worthy of love. Or idk, hugged without ulterior motives.

No one needs to earn kindness or love through pain and suffering.

We can just... Have that. Without brutally torturing the character for so long I start to wonder if the antagonist is paying you to keep the torment going.

I pinky promise I can empathize with someone without them having to be waterboarded for sneezing past 6 on a Friday night.

Some people enjoy Grimdark (more power to them tbh).

But I know I'm not alone when I say that I read fiction for an escapist fantasy. Mostly.

There's whump (untagged or otherwise), hurt/comfort, and then there's this.
