i forgot i deleted tumblr off my phone for storage space (ive tried everything to make it go down and somehow that was it) soooo ill post photos abt the episodes im watching now later once theyve gotten on my mac but oh my god excadrill really does have the best disobedience arc in the show. you cant convince me otherwise.

like first of all it has what most of the other arcs lack- an actual substantial reason excadrill doesn’t listen to iris (because iris didn’t respect his fear and judgement against drayden, which led to it’s brutal defeat, and now it’s hurt that iris not only pushed the fight on when he knew it wasn’t good and tried to tell her, but that she only seems to think hes grumpy they lost and therefore still ignoring his feelings. so now it doesn’t trust iris’s judgement nor does it think iris actually cares about its feelings more than she does winning).

and it doesn’t overstay its welcome or feel tedious. like really my main issue w the charizard arc is that it lasted soooooo long and happened sooooo many times that i was just frustrated at why ash was even bothering to use it as a last resort several times when it obviously didnt work. here, iris only tried excadrill willingly once or twice, and that’s when her back was pushed against the wall and she’d tried other options, and yet it was enough to remind the audience that there’s a conflict between them. And it’s resolved in about 20-something episodes, so long enough that it isnt underwhelming but short enough so that it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. 

and you actually want excadrill and iris to reconcile because iris truly meant no harm and is still learning to be more empathetic and takes a step forwards in that character arc here, and you can see they made a fantastic pair before things went wrong and you want that back for them! and their reconciliation makes sense not because excadrill lost but because iris finally just Communicated with excadrill and sincerely apologized for where she went wrong and promised to be better, and excadrill remembers that she really HAS been trying and keeping his interests at heart and does care about him and those memories and the apology makes him realize she never stopped caring and THATS when he breaks out of his shell to see iris laying besides him to give him comfort??? and thats what then inspires him to train and THEN when iris wakes up he’s not just immediately okay with her showing affection and being all friendly, he was to use this training to see if she’s really changing her perspective and oh my god this arc SLAPS its so underrated

this took so long because i decided it would be a great idea to draw not one but TWO AND 1/8 OF A CHARACTER... Originally I was planning on just redesigning my old dragonite oc, but goomy is one of my favorite pokemon, soo... I wanted to represent it somehow since it's not on my list for the following days. You may recognize the little headshot as my dragon entry from last year!

WEWWWWW old art. Originally Oasis was my 'Champion Lance' for a pokemon HGSS nuzlocke run I did WAYYY back then, you can even see Ancheim (the dragonair/dratini) there too! He was the league champion and the dragonair is younger brother by several years.

Revamped, I imagine Oasis to still be part of a champion team/have held the title at some point, along with the Mirage (the goodra), who's his teammate, and yknow... History would call them ""close friends"". Oasis is kind of a goofball and battle junkie, whereas his younger brother and his totally-not-partner are more stoic and grumpy.

tbh if not for the fact this was a redesign I would've gone a different direction with the clothing, but decided I wanted to stick to the style I already chose out long ago <:D

Finished mystery egg for GreyCait on FA! They were amazing and got SO MANY this batch.

So Long, Space Cowboy - The last pokemon of this batch, a dapper if maybe a little grumpy dragonite that resembles dragonair. Long bois are so much fun to draw, and I am quite happy with how this one came out.

Sequins and Scarves - Another long boy! The first of two anthro snake/lamias. They wanted a rattlesnake, and so I made them a diamondback. My favorite kind and also the kind that are most common where I love. He's a handsome boy!

Of Fringe and Frill - The last long boy, and the most friendly. He's just a happy little guy! This one is based on a Gaboon Viper, and though I took some liberties with color, I am still very proud of the design and how he came out! It's always fun to incorporate real-world designs and markings into characters when designing them.

Hillbilly Samurai - This one was a tricky challenge, but I had alot of fun. Digimon isn't something I draw very often, so getting to draw this guy was a fun treat. did I hella chat with official art? Yes. Am I still proud of how it came out? Also yes. A BlackVictoryGreymon with a sunflower motif~! I love it tbh XD

Ya know I haven’t really talked about Drayton n Kieran yet so here’s some canon hc stuff!

Okay so I believe in the French translation it’s stated that Kieran is 14….which I don’t believe lol with how shy he is in the teal mask and then crying over not getting ogerpon in the teal mask as well it just doesn’t fit right w/ him being 14 it seems in line of someone who’s 10 or 9 really + Drayton says he misses the old shy Kieran who likes to battle for fun so we can assume that Kieran was in the league club even before his desire to get stronger and tbh if a 14 yr old was around ppl like the E4 I doubt they’d be as shy as Kieran was in the teal mask, being around those 4 would give anyone a confidence, boost, so yeah Kieran is probably like 10 or maybe even 9 but def no older then that, anyways enough of my rambling n to the actual hcs lmao

Once Kieran is back in the club after mochi mayhem, he’s often seen curled up against Drayton snoozing on the clubs couch together as all of his intense training messed up Kieran’s sleep the boy is often really tired

Drayton is actually really good at comforting/calming down a crying Kieran weather it be from a legitimate reason like the trauma from terapagos, when he’s tired that he can’t help but cry or just him crying from not getting his way with something, Drayton is the second best at calming Kieran down (the first being carmine of course)

On the topic of terapagos, Kieran often goes to Drayton about his issues with the legendary bc Drayton knows what it’s like to be impacted by a legendary and Kieran doesn’t wanna bother his sister more with his trauma cause like yeah terapagos was gonna kill him, that energy beam was going straight for Kieran, he’d be dead if protagonist didn’t step in, so he talks to drayton about his trauma n drayton helps the best he can

Drayton eventually drops the “Ex-champion” nickname teasing as he sees it really upsets Kieran n they just started being friends again! He doesn’t wanna lose Kieran again!

They fly together across the terrarium on their dragonite’s :) often having fun lil races 

Drayton joked about carrying Kieran when we beat him during the champion fight but he actually does give Kieran piggyback rides when he wants! He enjoys carrying Kieran a lot!

Just like with the E3, Drayton can be protective of him, that’s his lil brother your honour……stole him from carmine….~Drayton angst anon💛

Huh but y'know I can picture Kieran being 14, there are teenagers that are still kinda shy around that age, and given his upbringing, it's understandable why he'd act like that too

Drayton never got to really face off Kyurem like Iris, only ever saw him after Iris finally got him from Ghetsis' control, a much tamer Kyurem than the one still being controlled by Plasma. He can't imagine how it must've been for Kieran too, being face to face w Terapagos, almost dying bc of it. Nearly died bros tho real lmfao

Okay headcannon time-

I like to think that Lance absolutely CANNOT stand being cold, which must suck while living in Blackthorn because I imagine it can get very cold during the winter.

He definitely seems the type that needs to stay busy during the winter months while at home or he'll just enter hibernation mode and fall victim to the cold weather+heated blanket combo, especially with that little dialogue line in masters about huddling with his dragons

One of my favorite headcanons tbh!

Some thinks he's a real life dragon type Pokémon the way his body shuts down during the cold. Is it anemia? Or is it his inner dragon? The latter? Nobody knows!

He doesn't like to tell people this often, but it took him a WHILE to get through Ice Path the first few times he trained there with his dragons.

He even wept a lil the first time because his body was so cold but shhh, only Dragonite is allowed to know that like secret. 🤫

I was hoping to help people as I didn't have any real help during the DLC, so I wrote a rough list of each of the Indigo Disk's Elite Four and their teams, trials and whatever moves I was made aware of during my battle with them. So here it is below. Be warned, this is unbelievably long as I also make notes at certain points for tips and help

Chrispin, the fourth and lowest member of the Elite Four:

Trial before battle; make a super spicy sandwich (as written by game08 below)

Onion Chili Sauce Jalapeno Chorizo Mustard

After the trial and onto the battle under here;

Party Members: Talonflame (uses sunny day, perfect for WW and Hydro Steam and also uses Brave Bird too, so no Ogerpon during the beginning), Fire-type Rotom, Exeggutor, Camerupt, Magmortar, Blaziken (Teras into a fire type, speed boost, focus blast and a real ass tbh)

Best Pokemon here would be, at least from my experience, Walking Wake (if you have it, that is, I don't know of any good replacement for WW if you don't have him. Maybe Azumarill?) and Garchomp (Ground Tera type and Adamant nature: Bulldoze (or Earthquake), Sword Dance, Rock Tomb, and Dragon Claw) alongside maybe Water type (Wellspring mask) Ogrepon.

AN: I say maybe Earthquake as it will also hurt your second party member you throw out unless they're a flying type, so that's why I mentioned Bulldoze instead as a less strong alternative making sure you do accidentally KO your own Pokemon in the process.

Drayton, the dragon-type elite four is the second rank under Kieran.

Trial: Use no Pokemon that weren't from the Terariaum or weren't caught from you (like Pokemon from other games for example) and fight three people. From my experience, have a Duraludon and an Abomasnow. Both are at level 80-86-ish for being able to beat this easily.

AN: Abomnasnow (Lax nature with Ice Punch, Blizzard and Sheer cold) should hold Leftovers and use Ingrain every time you enter a battle to slowly regain health and then take it from there whilst the Duraludon I used has a Quiet Nature and has: Dragon Claw, Flash Cannon, Metal Busrt and Breaking Swipe. I hope this has helped a little, and if the Pokemon you catch don't have those above natures you could either use a mint or just hope it doesn't play any part in the battle :p

Party members: Dragonite, Flygon, Kingdra, Haxorus (focus sash, earthquake), Sceptile, Archaludon (dragon-tera type)

AN: Zacian is perfect for most, if not all of these people with small bits of tinkering, obviously. But Zacian is literally unstoppable.

Amaryas: the steel type elite four (she is fucking weiiierdd…. like real weird.)

Her trial: Fly through rings on your mount around the terrarium and there are Magnemite ones that add more time to your counter. Get to the goal in time and you succeed.

Her party members; Skarmory (rocky helmet, stealth rock), Alolan Digglett (focus sash and earthquake), Scizor (bullet punch), Runiclus (leftovers, protect), Empoleon, Metagross (steel tera type, headbutt, hard press)

(AN: Be very careful when going against her Metagross, it knows Hard Press, a move that could more than definitely OHKO and likely could since it does the most damage with full health. And if you aren't fortunate and or weak to it? She'll likely sweep you clean. I used my Zacian (Adamant Nature, Crowned: Sword Dance, Sacred Sword, Behemoth Blade and Crunch) and my Slither Wing against her (Adamant nature: Superpower, Leech Life, Low Sweep and Bulk Up) for the most part before having to eventually bring out Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon to take over due to Cranberry fainting who helped ease through Metagross and Runiclus while Zacian handles Empoleon and some of the others.)

Lacey, the fairy type elite four, and the third strongest:

Her trial: A Pokemon quiz!

What part of the body does Pikachu store electricity in? Answer: cheeks. Pikachu stores the electricity in their cheeks.

What part does Venonat's body act as a radar? Answer: The eyes. Its eyes are like radars!

Which Sinistea is an antique and not a phony? Answer: the middle one, the middle has a mark of authenticity on the bottom when it spins around.

Which minior is the pink one? Answer: the one on the middle-ish bottom right-hand side of the screen.

Which part of Granbull does Lacey use as a pillow? Answer: the tummy/stomach area.

Team/party members: Granbull, Whimsicott (focus sash, light screen), Slowbro (quick draw, tailwind, flamethrower, sitrus berry), Primarina, Alcremie (alluring voice, leftovers) Excadrill (fairy tera type, high horsepower)

(long AN: Again Zacian comes in helpful here, while i'd also recommend also having a Tinkaton with you to help try and sweep her, while trying to take as little damage as possible. (Tinkaton, Naive nature with Steel Tera type: Gigaton hammer, Metal claw, Draining kiss and Sword dance) whilst Zacian has an Adamant nature like earlier with fairy type: Behemoth blade, sword dance, metal claw and play rough in case. She does use her Excadrill as mentioned before and I recommend having something that can be strong against fairy but not faint to ground as I was lucky enough to have high friendship with both and they dodged it and was able to KO the ground type. Or you could give Tinkaton a Focus sash in case it does hit and be left with one HP while Zacian still holds the Rusted sword

Champion Kieran:

His team: Dragonite, Politoed, Incineroar, Grimmsnarl holds a Focus Sash, Porygon-z, Hydrapple (Teras his Hydrapple to become a fighting type; an Iron Valiant or Zacian does wonders with his team is used right)

AN: I literally had no business beating his ass with two Fairy types but succeed. Iron Valiant (Adamant Nature, Fairy Tera type: Moonblast, Sword Dance, Spirit Break and Drain Punch) with my Zacian now mainly running Fairy and fighting over steel instead. (Adamant nature, Fairy tera type: Sword dance, Sacred sword, and Play Rough with Poison Jab)

And unfortunately, your Pokemon don't get ribbons or anything of the sort from winning so a major bummer, but whatever I guess. Plus, Kieran has no right to walk about with Pokemon who literally get for the most part OHKO'd, seriously. It makes you wonder what the others who fought him were using to get him to such a high ground or grandeur to think he was unstoppable.
