if you ever see me describing dark's voice in a contradictory way that's on purpose. his voice by itself is gentle, rich with emotion, and more than worthy of being called beautiful (again, i prefer onosaka's dark for a vc,) but dark himself tends to bluster and his manner of speech is perpetually informal (if not flat out rude) leading to a level of crassness or vulgarity that daisuke always accuses him of having. he's nevertheless still prone to the occasional bout of deep, romantic poetry when the moment strikes (ie, "i hear the melody of your voice right here," or, "am i not pure-hearted? why then, do i live?") yet he'll nevertheless say these flowery things in an informal way. as a side note, on top of this tonal contradiction is the fact that dark is a liar. he's got more than a few tsundere traits, and often covers up for his kinder acts by insisting they're only for the sake of his own selfishness and pride. daisuke falls for it every time; he has no idea how much dark actually cares about him or anyone else because he can only take dark's words at face value, but for anyone else around them, it might end up obvious that what dark says doesn't always line up with the sheer level of dedication he puts into his actions sometimes. krad is the one who says mercilessly cruel and manipulative things with polite reverence and well-kept formality. dark, even though he's openly impertinent, belittling, and insulting, bears a very deep tenderness for others that needs someone who's properly paying attention to see.
