I see posts like these and I come back to my soap box every couple of months so, once again, I reiterate: if you want to feel like you're a part of a community, you have to interact with that community.

It doesn't have to be constant interaction, or even with everyone, but you have to get comfortable with the terrible notion of being perceived. I went through a period of being so shy/worried about how people would take my interactions on the dash and barely interacted with anyone. It was lonely, my depression skyrocketed and I sat with my ruminating anxiety.

The moment I went 'fuck it, we'll ball and see what happens'? All of that turned around. I'm not saying you have to extend yourself to everyone in your community, but you SHOULD make an active effort to include things out of your circle. Boost new members, share work, put unhinged comments in the tags. The few that don't take them at face value are not worth your time anyway.

I have my small group of friends who I talk to daily and then I come here and hang out with you all. I love the possibility of making new friends and seeing new concepts. That's why I love communities.

They cannot function on likes and silent praise. You HAVE to be loud about what you like.
