Hike day 2/3 Valdemarsvik to Gusum through Tryserum.

Woke up to a sunny morning at Lake Skirgöl. Made pancakes and coffee and headed off. The woods were full of bones.

Had tea at medieval church ruins (ruined in a fire in the 1600s) and ended up at lake Bymossegöl after some 22-ish heavy km.

The place was gorgeous, a combination of a bog (there'll be cloudberrys in some weeks no doubt) and nice rocks. The shelter was pretty, but since it was very windy, I opted to put up the tent, as a dead tree loomed above the roof. I put it at the top of a cliff and just as it was pitched the rain started to fall.

River Emån, Sweden (No. 1)

Emån is a watercourse that flows through parts of Småland. It has its source in Nässjö municipality and then flows through Eksjö, Sävsjö, Vetlanda, Hultsfred, Högsby, Mönsterås and Oskarshamn municipalities. The Emån flows into the Baltic Sea in the northern part of the Kalmar Strait.

The 229-kilometre-long Emån is Northern Europe's most important locale for moths, and it has large populations of sea trout. The river flows through both hilly terrain and plains, and due to recurrent flooding, it has previously been the subject of embankment attempts.

The name Emån comes from the Old Swedish ember meaning imma or possibly the word æmb meaning water. According to legends, the name is instead attributed to a princess named Emma who was taken by the beak on the way to her wedding. Her dead body was found near Emån's outlet in the Baltic Sea and from her the river would have been named.
