Tecna shoots a look at Bloom, “I don’t think you realize what you’ve signed us all up for.”

Bloom smiles resignedly, a swell of endearment for her friends bubbling up in her chest, “I guess we’ll find out soon.”

Do you think the fandom is too hard on Sky?

Mmm, no and yes?

I think people have a lot of good reasons to hate or just kinda dislike Sky. Even if you ignore the Diaspro situation, he has a lot of moments where he just... isn't great (to say the absolute least). Spying on Bloom, immediately assuming she's going to cheat or leave him, directly saying she can't hang out with other guys, implying that he can't trust Brandon, making fun of Stella, literally everything he says to Riven. And I mean that's like the major stuff off the top of my head yknow? Sky just isn't a great person and while he does get called out, it's never in a way that would actually make him change his behavior.

However, I think people also exaggerate his actions and intentions a lot. Instead of recognizing that Sky has practically no control over his life and that he couldn't just break up with Diaspro or tell Bloom the truth, a lot of people make him out to be some serial cheater that always intended to cheat on Diaspro or lie to random girls about his identity. Or when people think he's the worst friend ever because he occasionally doesn't trust people when his entire life he's been at risk of assassination and people getting close to him to yknow. kill him. Like no, implying that Brandon is a spy or that Riven wants to murder people isn't cool. But he's also only like that because there's a history of people trying to kill him, not because he just hates everyone.

Listen, I'm not saying that Sky is a good person or that his actions are justified OR that he's a horrible person who deserves a shit ton of hate. But I think the fandom in general tends to go with very absolutist claims when it comes to Sky. It's either he's the worst character ever and deserves to die or he's a misunderstood baby who's better than Riven. It's literally always one of those two - no in between. Imo, there are reasons to dislike Sky but the fandom also heavily exaggerates the reasons and makes him out to be much worse than he actually is. And on the other side, it's also annoying when people completely ignore all of his faults just to make him look better. He's just as complex and nuanced as the rest of the characters and acting like he's either 100% Evil or 100% Innocent is never fun (for him or any other character).

(i didn't really know how to fit this in but I think a lot of sky discourse also comes from riven stans which makes the situation so much worse. like it's never a fun discussion or debate, it's always just "well he was mean to riven so he deserves to die actually" which then makes riven antis foam at the mouth so they start to defend sky Exclusively to make riven look bad, not because they actually like sky. it's a mess man)

General disclaimer that this is just my opinion and I'm not trying to force it on anyone and it's fine if you disagree.

#disclaimer because whenever i post about sky someone gets pissy #i do think a major difference between sky and riven is that riven had a much more noticeable and impactful arc #we actually saw him being an ass. getting called out. And then trying to be a better person on his own #he got an entire subplot for his journey that didnt immediately get flushed in the next season (later seasons barred) #meanwhile skys arc directly involved bloom and it was never him wanting to be a better person on his own #it was always in conjunction with her and that made any progress seem shallow at best #and then they didnt really keep any of it in! even in the early seasons he got reset to continue skoom drama #and then add on that a lot of people just dont like skoom in general aljdghljadg #anyway there are tons of valid reasons to hate him but most of them get exaggerated to a point where its not even him anymore #so like. no and yes! because the hate is justified its just also exaggerated #which makes it hard to have a productive debate about him because its always either He Should Die or He's The Best #answered #anonymous #honestly it kind of reminds of bloom discourse! #like its always either she's the best character ever or she's a horrible mary sue who hates her friends #and like.. embarrassing

I found some oldass Winx OCs, like from 2016 old back when I did everything on pixel bases, and I wanted to retouch them once more! especially since on god their designs were so plain lmao. They are:

Sadly I never really built them up much as characters so at most I can only give like short sentences for each of them lol.

Brook is the leader, Aura's bff, the kind of friend that'll tell you "you are such a stupid bastard" as they make you soup when you're sick. Generally nice to be around until his UM ACKSHUALLY instincts override his common sense. (Originally the OC was a girl named Maya, but I have 5 other OCs with that name and water powers so now he's a dude.)

Aura is still a Brella kid meaning she has Stella's sometimes-overinflated ego with Brandon's natural charisma, aka she's a menace. She's very outdoorsy and competitive making her butt heads with Lina often.

Lina's will make most things a competition for the fun of it and to mess with Aura. Other than that she's a kind girl with a savior complex the size of the sun and a passion for sculpting just as big, wanting to live off her art in the future.

Delia was originally a Skoom kid but now she's just a random Eraklian girl. Sweet and kind, the girl takes no shit from everyone and can and WILL beat you up if you wrong her or her friends. Has a bad habit of getting into other people's shit to try to fix the situation.

Lisandro is the kind of guy that works out because it's fun and nothing else. Just as competitive as Aura (meaning he's also a target of Lina's shenanigans) but unlike her he's very aware of his flaws and that fucks him up a bit. Is also an indie singer.

Callisto is a really really kind and sweet girl with a fucking morbid sense of humor, that loves messing with people with Terrifying Plant Facts™. Other than that she's the capital-G Gamer of the group in both the good and bad sense of the word. She plays 5 MMORPGs at once someone save her from herself.

Theyre often paired with Excavice, plowing the snow into mounds, so that Excavice can eat them and disperse it back into the air as snowflakes 7- Peacoo, Sundara, Solstride: Light/Flying types that are quite popular for fashion contests in Gado for their flamboyant personality and natural beauty

Alrighty I’ve finally finished season 5

I hate how obvious it is they’re trying to tone the show down completely to even lower audience demographic. The first 3 seasons were for kids but there was actual peril and darker concepts and stuff that were much more interesting damn you Nickelodeon and your desperate attempt to keep the most squeaky clean image ever not only does it not work it’s costing stories and plot

I REFUSE to believe Stella would be a bad fashion designer with how much she loves fashion (I know it was a joke in s1 too but I still refuse). Plus, avant-garde is a thing and she would serve

That boat that was sent from Andros was def made exclusively for the winx there is NO WAY that style exists anywhere else on that planet for land related peoples with all of its hard lines and industrial style architecture with its limited color palettes

The nautical themed outfits are cute but Bloom’s looks SO overdone to me and Stella,, my sweet babygorl,, wtf did you do to your own fit?? Aisha’s poodle puff braid ftw also

Harmonix was totally useless BUT I still like the flower petal aesthetic vibe (even tho only Flora is a nature floral lady) and some of the color combos. Bloom in pink is still a no tho, which is something I mainly hate because of how obvious it is they started integrating it into her more to make her more marketable for toy lines and shit

The relationship drama was just as stupid and hamfisted as I thought it was from an outside skim of the season based off of secondhand knowledge ie posts and gifs. Also, Krystal did nothing wrong, she’s just autistic and Helia would NOT introduce Flora as anything other than the love of his life.

Timmy and Tecna also have one of the healthiest relationships why tf is everyone trying to give them advice like this they’ve all been dating for YEARS why are all of y’all so insecure like this? The writers really said fuck everyone’s character development even more than they already had

The only good things I can say about the dance outfits is that Flora’s purple leg warmers were cute, Aisha’s color palette was nice, and Bloom’s was very Bloom core

What do you think are the flaws in Florelia’s relationship? Or, maybe what might they argue about/disagree on generally and how they overcome it?

Love! They actually have quite a few flaws in their relationship, some that get better over the years and some that don't.

Communication - Something that all the Winx couples seem to have a problem with, and probably the biggest issue for Florelia. They just don't communicate!! It usually takes one of them kind of pushing the other to say something for them to actually.. yknow,, say something. Helia also has a master's degree in avoiding conflict and Flora has a master's degree in avoiding him akljhdgl

Self-deprecating - They both have this issue and it pops up mostly with them thinking the other deserves someone better or that the other is secretly in love with someone else. Pretty much all of their jealous moments stem from them hating themselves.

Avoidance! - I mentioned this above but it's another thing they both have! Both of them have a big issue with avoiding conflict and it's one of the main reasons why they have communication issues in the first place. If they're not in a Good Place in their relationship, then they will avoid each other like the plague.

Expectations - This is one that definitely got better over the years, but early on they both had an issue with expecting too much from the other. I think this happened because they got together too soon but,, anyway, Flora had a lot of idealistic expectations and wants from Helia and when he wasn't able to deliver them, she got kind of disappointed. It helped that she got over that quickly and then reassured him it was fine but it was still there. Helia also had some expectations about what Flora herself would be like and was surprised when she wasn't like that.

Difference in perspective - This doesn't affect them as much so I'm going to put it last but they occasionally have issues when they have different perspectives on something (which they often do). Helia has a much more pragmatic and sometimes negative perspective on things while Flora often has a more idealistic and optimistic perspective. Again, it doesn't cause too many issues but they do sometimes argue when this happens.

In regard to what they argue about, when Helia's escapism acts up, when Flora has a more positive outlook on a mission and the specialists don't agree, when one of them is convinced the other deserves someone else/likes someone else (aka ~jealousy~), when Helia is being Too Negative and it's bringing her vibe down, when Helia sides with one of the specialists but Flora doesn't agree, when Flora wants to Not hurt the evil animal trying to kill them... There are other things but they don't happen as much so I don't think they're too relevant to list.

How they overcome things!! Literally just talking to each other. It's the only thing that works with them. Once they start to talk to each other like mature adults instead of avoiding or making snide comments, they're able to actually resolve the issue and discuss their feelings. They're usually good from there and it can sometimes even ensure that the same fight doesn't happen again. However, since they have such big issues with avoidance and communication, it takes a While for them to get to that point without intervention from the others.

...and here's another silly drawing from the motel notepad, though this one I'm actually really happy with how they turned out. Especially considering that none of these are characters I'd ever drawn before, all just made up on the spot!

For a while I've randomly had the name "Scumbaglia" (probably pronounced something like skoom-BAH-glee-uh) bouncing around in my head as the surname of a group of stereotypical mafia/criminal family parody characters. Ended up in a drawing sort of mood one night and in probably less than an hour later, now I've got what appears to be at least three (perhaps four) generations of the Scumbaglia family drawn.

I'm imagining that the older lady is the mom of the two youngish adult guys on the right, and the babies in the lower-left are those two guys' kids (the boy probably the shorter guy's kid since they have similar faces, and the girl maybe the taller guy's kid.) Not sure if the creepy old dude in the upper-left is the older lady's husband or her dad... he seems like he'd be very old, like 80+ if not older, while the lady might only be in her late 50s or 60s. So maybe he's the last member of an older generation still hanging around.
