Anyway, I'm not a very active part of the simblr community, but I do want to express my appreciation for all the creators, storytellers, CAS addicts, readers and lurkers and everyone else who makes this simblr community beautiful and cosy and fun! Every single one here deserves a really big hug.

Emile is the youngest of a well-known and wealthy family of lawyers and bankers. He, like his brothers, has always been the exemplary young man: quite a nice and good-looking gentleman with a respectable profession and well regarded within society. However, that serene and demure appearance hides a talented boy with a great sense of humor and fun who is constantly repressed by the pressure of family expectations. Deep inside him, he wants to flee the city to lead an adventurous life, find the girl of his dreams and start a small restaurant of his own.

His parents consider it inadmissible that he, at his age, has not been able to marry a respectable and beautiful young woman. As soon as they found out about the possibility of marrying Miss Frances Cauley, they immediately contacted her parents to request consideration for their son. As much as he wanted to, Emile could not refuse his parents, nor disrespect the Cauley family by rejecting such a fervent prior request. However, after doing some research on the young lady, he was amazed by her characteristic energy, charisma and carefree personality. Maybe she’s everything he’s been looking for…

We know you’ll be looking for someone “fun” and “exciting”. So before you toss this letter aside, which we assume you might be considering, let us tell you about Det. Page.

At first glance Det. Jack Page of the SMPD’s Homicide Department might come of as serious and boring but once you look past it. Well he’s still pretty serious... not to boring though. But he is also a great guy who deserves to have a lady in his life. 

A lady who can pull him out of his shell and find his passions again after he got divorced a few years ago. And get him of our backs. 

So a little about the detective; He was the one who caught the Llama Lord, the serial killer who used exploding Llamas, last year. During school he was on the water polo team and wrestling team. He is still in very good physical shape according to his latest medical report.. He often visits the jazz clubs and is always humming on the latest tunes. He can also play the piano very well and don’t tell anyone (like vice) but the man likes a good whiskey on the rocks.

At the very least, give the man a chance.

Elian Zhang for @simtrospective‘s Flapperette Challenge!

Elian Zhang grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Born to a Chinese father and Hispanic mother, Elian was considered different from the very beginning, and it didn’t help that his head was always in the clouds. Bullied when he was young, Elian relied on his older brother and sister to keep him okay, whether Mateo protecting him from his bullies or Sofia was helping him realize he was enough and worth it. With his family’s help, he made it through high school and entered university. But one night when visiting a speakeasy, Elian found himself cavorting with a pretty white girl, all dolled up. And then nine months later, that same girl showed up with a newborn, told him he was the father, and then left, leaving Elian in a panic. He was half-way through university, how was he supposed to take care of a baby- especially one from out of wedlock? Well, his family ended up helping out, watching baby Claudia when he was at school or working in order to get him through uni. Finally, he graduated with a Fine Arts degree and got his own house for him and Claudia to share.

Now he’s 27, still trying to make a living off of his paintings, raising a dramatic six-year-old, and working part-time as a handy-man to survive. But as he gets older, he’s becoming more worried about Claudia. He wants his little girl to have a mother, someone who loves her just as much as he does. But at the same time, he wants someone he could imagine loving, living an adventurous life with, a woman who won’t just bow to his every whim. Someone who will challenge him and show Claudia that she can be so much more than the world wants her to be. So when he saw the casting call for the Flapperette and saw the beautiful and wild Frances, Elian knew he had to give it a shot. Time to take a risk, for both himself and his little girl.

Elian’s birthday is March 3.

He wants to be able to quit being Brindleton Bay’s town handyman and devote his life to painting, Claudia, and a wife who he loves, but at the moment, he’s only doing 1 of 3.

He and Claudia have a three-legged dog named Sprinkles. Can you guess who named him?

Mateo, Elian’s brother, dropped out of school to work and heavily contributed to both his and Sofia’s college funds. He’s likely the only reason he was able to afford it, even though his parents also helped out. Elia chooses not to ask how his brother got that much money.

Pretty much all of his money goes toward Claudia. He wants her to have the amazing childhood he never had.

Loves painting portraits, but he normally paints landscapes because they sell better. He has a portrait of Claudia from every other year of her life to show her development. Also does a bit of photography for fun.

Had Sofia teach him to do hair so he could do Claudia’s hair for her.

Has a scar above his right eye from a nasty accident on the job.

Dreams of moving to San Myshuno, but doesn’t see it becoming a reality.

He used to be ashamed of his mixed heritage and just wanted to be white, but grew up surrounded by a proud mixed family that ended up imparting their beliefs on him. Now, he’s proud to be both Hispanic and Chinese and wants his daughter to feel just as proud of her heritage.

He absolutely loves jazz music.

Hi there. I almost sent you an ask yesterday to inquire about your Midnight Sun Challenge posts. I fell in love with them and was missing them on my dash, and wanted to tell you that if you were ending their story that, well, I hoped Kestrel and Lo were happy wherever life took them (lol @ me being a sap). You’re so cute! I was technically supposed to end that challenge at generation five but I couldn’t resist keeping it going. I’m glad you like seeing them because I’m not done with them yet and probably won’t be for a long time!

Well well, Lady Frances, what an intriguing initiative. I wasn’t thinking about marriage yet, but when I heard about a beautiful, independent and wealthy lady organising a competition to find a husband, well, I cut my expedition into the jungle of El Selvadorada short. 

Please, allow me to introduce myself: I am Hermes Fleming, named after the Greek god of travel. I’m an only child, my father was an honoured diplomat and my dear mother is a musical virtuoso. I grew up with the most beautiful piano music. I was born on the islands of Sulani, but I spent my youth in the lush green jungle region of El Selvadorada, before moving to cold and dreary Britechester to study at the well respected University of Briteshester. Whilst I excelled in my studies, earning my distinguished degree with honors in History, the dusty library is not my natural habitat, oh not quite. I prefer the thrill of going on expeditions, studying artefacts and ancient cultures, learning about local myths and legends. Of course, there are some risks and inconveniences, but my dearest Lady Frances, they make for the greatest stories, don’t they? And the greatest treasures are often the hardest to acquire, are they not? 

I’m looking forward to meeting you in person and exchanging stories and ideas and who knows, the carousing city girl might be tempted to go on greater adventures...

A little background information:

Sir Aristotle Fleming passed away 4 years ago, he was poisoned in the El Selvadoradian jungle.

Lady Josephine Fleming, born Josephine Von Windenburg, returned to her family’s estate on the Crumbling Isle in Windenburg after her husband’s passing. She loved El Selvadorada, but the loss of her beloved husband made it unbearable for her to stay.

Hermes was born in Sulani, but when he was 6 years old, his father was sent to El Selvadorada for a diplomatical mission. At first, they would only live in El Selvadorada for a few years, but because of Sir Fleming’s good relations with the local authorities, the mission was prolonged several times.

As a professor at Britechester University, Hermes has a residence in Britechester, but he spends most of his time in El Selvadorada. The estate where he grew up, is now his home base for his expeditions deep into the Selvadoradian jungle

Because of his youth in El Selvadorada, Hermes has maxed the Selvadoradian Culture skill. As a professor, I thought it would be logical for him to have logic, research & debate, archeology and writing at level 4. And he also learned the piano from his mother of course.

Hermes was friends with local, Selvadoradian children. His best friend was Leonel Moreno. They were two peas in a pod and Hermes actually owes his life to Leonel. Sadly, in the incident (involving an animal with big teeth) that almost cost Hermes his life, Leonel was actually killed. Hermes still has the scars to remind him of this incident and of his best friend.

He loves to have a run/exercise routine in the crisp Selvadoradian morning air, so I gave him the Gym Rat reward trait.

He loves a good story and he has a knack for telling the stories and myths he learned about, so I gave him the Great Storyteller reward trait.

This is my candidate for the Flapperette Bachelor Challenge by @simtrospective​ It’s actually the very first time I enter a sim for any challenge, so this is quite exciting.

Decades Lookbook: 1950's Part 2

Halfway through the 20th century, the social climate in the United States of America was oddly conservative and rebellious at the same time.

Fashion trends for women included tea length swing dresses with petticoats, slim sheath dresses, pencil and circle skirts (poodle skirts for teens), Capri pants, high-waisted jeans, and Peter Pan collar blouses. These outfits were worn with kitten or stiletto heels or saddle shoes and accessorized with small hats, scarves, hair flowers, pearls, gloves and/or brooches.

Masculine fashion trends included Letterman jackets, blue jeans, bowling shirts, slim fitting suits, skinny ties and leather jackets.

Two of my sims were based on Lucille Ball/Marilyn Monroe and Bettie Page/fictional Wanda Woodward from 'Cry Baby'.

Shout out to @simtrospective​​ for putting together this amazing 1950's masculine hair guide which made masc. hair shopping SO easy!

To be honest, I'm not super happy with my first 1950's lookbook...but I really like this one and I hope ya'll do too!
