round 2 - the broke-pleasant trailer
lol so despite that title the first two picture are actually from the pleasant vista apartment complex where angela moved after graduating from sim state
now an adult, angela got herself a secondary aspiration (romance) and she wanted to get a job in the music career. she found an open position as a coffee shop sound engineer (lvl 3) and got promoted to summer camp music teacher (lvl 4) on her first day thanks to a chance card. the habit she developed in her childhood home - looking away and pretending not to see when something suspicious-looking happens - turned out to be a good choice here. she also learned lifelong happiness
dustin moved in with her on sunday after flunking out and they celebrated by some autonomous try-for-baby action. a few hours later angela was already getting morning sickness
so they packed their things and moved. together they purchased 35 woodland drive - so yeah, they moved next to the rest of dustins family
dustin rolled the want to work in the architecture career but didnt manage to find work in a long time
he also rolled the want to write a bestselling novel so he got to work and maxed out his creativity skill in the process
angela got her first baby bump early on tuesday and her second one early on wednesday morning
dustin finished his novel on wednesday and it was a hit. he rolled the want to get a job in the entertainment career in addition to the architecture want, and as the entertainment career seems like a much better choice for him, i locked that one in for him instead.
and good for him because he found himself a job as a mime (lvl 3). so he accepted the position
aND FUCKING IMMEDIATELY ROLLED THE WANT TO QUIT
AND TO WRite another bestseller
oh well
so after having the job for like ten minutes i directed him to call to work and quit
relieved, he then rolled another career want. this time for journalism. i think it was pretty fitting, seeing as he was a published author at this point
also this back and forth game was very on brand for dustin seeing as he couldnt decide what major he wanted either
but now he HAS figured out that he likes writing and is good at it so thats good. thats nice
on thursday at 8 a.m., ian broke was born
angela returned to work immediately and was promoted to a battle of the bands judge (lvl 5)
she got another promotion on friday, becoming a roadie (lvl 6). in the meantime, dustin kept looking for any openings in the journalism career, looked after little ian, and worked on his second novel, which was published on friday and was an even bigger success than his first book
on saturday, angela was promoted again, becoming a studio musician (lvl 7)
ian aged up into a toddler on saturday. hes a libra and will be a romance sim eventually
angela and dustin also had a home date on sunday and it resulted in angela getting pregnant again
when angela went to work that night, dustins mom brandi tellerman came by to pay a visit to her first grandchild and that was very sweet
(in fact she came because dustin answered the phone and it was his kid sister una and it was 7 p.m. but lets just pretend she simply wanted to see little ian)
angela got promoted one more time that night and became a concert pianist (lvl 8). dustin also finally found an opening in the journalism career on sunday - he will start as a yearbook club supervisor (lvl 1).

V2F Itineraries | Singapore | Things To Do | 7 Days
Singapore is a beautiful place. As an Indian, it is a country which is filled with familiarity yet still filled with completely new experiences. A blend of modern versatility and close-knit culture. The country  lies below Malaysia on the global map, and is a small island nation. But don’t be fooled by its size – it has a highly developed economy, with well above average standards of living. Its airport – Changi International Airport – is also said to be the best in the World! Apart from a worthwhile visit to the airport, other places of interest include Marina Bay Sands, Sentosa, the Merlion and Universal Studios. In this 7-day itinerary, we will look at the things one can do in Singapore – as we’ve already established, there’s much to go around here! This includes famous landmarks like Gardens By The Bay and Universal Studios, and other not-so-famous hidden gems like hawker centres, prawning and pop-up exhibitions. So what are we waiting for? Let’s dive right in.
Day 1 Arrive in Singapore, at Changi International Airport. Although the airport is cool enough to spend a whole day in, you must be tired from a long flight – so we’ll come back later! Spend the afternoon relaxing at Gardens By The Bay, a nature park in central Singapore. It is a great way to  rejuvenate yourself after a long flight, especially with the vast variety of artistic horticulture around. After we’ve finished touring the gardens and taking in the fresh air, unpack your bags in your hotel and enjoy the beautiful night view on a rooftop restaurant at Gardens By The Bay. You can practically see the whole city from here!
Day 2 Chill at Sentosa today – an island resort off the coast of Singapore. You can get there through many different modes of transport – by road, in a cable car, through the monorail or even as a pedestrian on the boardwalk. The Tiger Sky Tower has a panoramic view extending all the way to Indonesia for you to see. So enjoy the day here, and at Universal Studios in Sentosa! With 28 rides to go on and plenty of other ways to spend the afternoon, we doubt you’ll be left with nothing to do. Palawan Beach also has some nice food stalls for an authentic Singaporean cuisine experience. Come back to mainland Singapore once you’re done for the day, as the night is just beginning! Be present at a unique wildlife experience at the Night Safari – the World’s first nocturnal zoo. It’s a completely different safari experience compared to others, and an educational but fun way to spend the night.
Day 3 Today is for exploring the arts and cultural scene of this nation. Considering it is a conglomeration of its neighbouring countries’ traditions fused with strong Western influences, you might be more surprised by the variety of artefacts. Take a relaxing stroll through the National Gallery, marvelling at the art and culture of Singapore that is on display. In the afternoon, have an enjoyable time at Marina Bay Sands – see the Digital Light Canvas, the ArtScience  Museum and take a Sampan Ride through the The Shoppes mall complex. Singapore’s malls are quite good, so if you want to buy some interesting goodies to take home, you know where to go. As always, the evenings are for relaxation – have a fancy SkyPark Observation Deck dinner if you can! If not, the observation deck is a great place to watch the sun set over Singapore’s skyline, so head on over there to witness it yourself.
Day 4 Set foot in the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in the morning, and traverse the museum after paying your respects at the temple. You will not need to pay an entrance fee, but make sure you don’t go too early: the temple only opens at 9AM! After paying your respects, you can explore the nearby Chinatown area, rife with many knickknacks, traditional food and indie boutiques. A stone’s throw away is Little India, if you’d fancy taking a trip of the Singaporean rendition of our country, or if you’re homesick and need a little pick-me-up. These are all great places to have quick bites or even a filling lunch! In the early evening, visit one of the many pop-up exhibitions that Singapore offers – like the Bubble Tea Factory! These come and go year-round, so find one close to when you plan to travel. Go prawning in the night – a local activity that many do here. Have some nice prawn dishes with your catch of the day!
Day 5 We are starting Day 5 on an early note. Wake up and step out of the hotel before the sun rises, to visit the 161-year-old Singapore Botanic Garden. It is open from 5AM to 12AM, and is a tranquil place full of delicate flora and fauna. There is no entrance fee for the park itself, however inner exhibitions like the Orchid Garden are chargeable. It is also a great place to take in some fresh air and watch the sun rise! Next, drive to the Jurong Bird Park – with more than 400 species of birds! This bird park may not be the most famous creature-watch in Singapore, but it is definitely worth visiting! Complete your wildlife tour at the Singapore Zoo,  which is set in a rainforest environment including 300 species of animals.
Day 6 Today is Changi Airport Day (well, for us it is). Make your way to the airport – not for a flight, but for more fun! As you may already know, this airport has been consistently ranked as one of (if not the) best in the World. And for good reason, which you’ll be able to experience today! Walk through the Shiseido Forest Valley, HSBC Rain Vortex, Canopy Park and ManuLife Sky Nets. These are all beautiful and picturesque structures, encapsulating Singapore’s modern take on nature and the fusion of the two. Once you’re done, going through the Mirror Maze, Discovery Slides, Foggy Bowls and bouncy Sky Nets is a good idea. In Changi, you truly can bounce away all your worries. Have some traditional Laksa at a hawker centre on your way back to the hotel, Singapore’s signature noodle dish – but note that it is non-vegetarian!
Day 7 We have almost come to the end of our trip – but the memories will definitely last forever! In the morning, wake up to some good, authentic food. Have some of Singapore’s favourite classics – Chicken Rice – at an authentic hawker centre for breakfast. There are many stalls that serve the delicacy, mostly consisting of steamed or cooked chicken, hot white rice and a sweet-and-spicy dark sauce. Some stalls even serve anchovies on top, a trend seen in many southeast countries including Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. After a filling breakfast, head back to the hotel to pack and get ready to leave Singapore – we hope you had a lovely trip! Before you leave, take a tiny detour to see the Merlion at Merlion Park and continue onwards to the airport after that!
There you have it – a 7-day walkthrough to a perfect stay in Singapore. Of course, the longer you stay the better – but we believe you’d have a good time either way. With Visa2Fly, ensure that your travel is hiccup-free with doorstep visa delivery service, end-to-end travel insurance and SIM card processing. The Beat Happening 4/18
The Beat Happening is a deep-cut-heavy radio show centered around the fringes of alternative, post-rock, dreampop, slowcore, shoegaze, and some others.
Here is this week’s playlist, along with what I would usually stumble through verbally expressed in the written word.
“Throughout the Borders”- Marching Church
The brief but stunning 2012 EP Throughout the Borders has grown on me slowly and steadily. My love for Marching Church began when I heard “Not Worthy,” the closing track from the same record; the soft-but-noisy guitar and drum tones blend seamlessly with Elias Ronnenfelt’s vocals, which step quickly from quiet but firm speaking to singing that mimics weird moaning. Since then, I’ve been a very loyal Marching Church and Iceage fan. But, about three weeks ago, my friend told me that she had had a religious experience to this Marching Church song, so I decided to give it a better listen-through. I’ve listened to “Throughout the Borders” every day since. It has slowly climbed up to be one of my favorite songs at the moment.
“Sick Child”- Siouxsie and the Banshees
From their 11th and final studio album Rapture, released 1995. This song, and most of this album, shows how beautiful Siouxsie Siouxe’s voice can be when restrained in volume, range, and style. Although it is a very different, albeit scaled back, Siouxsie and the Banshees, I love this song as an individual.
“New Strappings, Part I”- Ice Baths
From their 2018 s/t album. This song has amazing tones and an interesting build throughout. This band is surprisingly obscure, as they have some amazing singles that stay in between alternative and post-punk without leaning too generically far in either direction.
“Pepper Tree”- Cocteau Twins
From their 1984 EP The Spangle Maker. An entire Cocteau Twins EP is admittedly tiring, as it all blends together into one long, slow, hazy dream-pop song with individual parts that are hard to appreciate. This song has beautiful accompanying vocals (as most Cocteau Twins songs do) and it's layered in a really interesting way that gets better every time I listen to it.
“Shine”- Slowdive
From their 1991 album Just For A Day. I think what makes this song so strikingly beautiful is Rachel Goswell’s layered vocals, which heavily remind me of Elizabeth Fraser. As all Slowdive songs are, “Shine” is equal parts ethereal and melancholy, presenting the softer side of shoegaze.
“Owner’s Lament”- Scratch Acid
From their only album The Greatest Gift, released 1990 after the band’s breakup in 1987. Scratch Acid has some of my favorite hardcore/punk vocals by Steve Anderson, which I think is why I much prefer them to The Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid’s kind of sister-band formed by guitarist David Sims and bassist David Yow after Scratch split. The bass and drum tones are absolutely perfect throughout the entirety of the 75-minute album.
“Fate Is…”- Wednesday
From their 2020 album, I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone. These vocals make me want to cry and slam a door so hard that it breaks. The rest of the album stays in line with a similar mood. Wednesday is from Asheville, NC.
“Never Return”- Iceage
From their first studio album New Brigade, released 2011. Marching Church and Iceage on the same playlist? Yes, absolutely. Any time. Always. To me, Iceage presents an angrier “sad song,” blending angst into lust completely. Iceage’s newer records strongly lie along the line of heavy doom-rock, but every Iceage song is always at least a couple minutes of Danish moaning, guaranteed, “Never Return” being no exception. The opening riff  of this song is so alluring, and the bridge is tense and breathtaking; this song usually requires a few listens before I can move past it. Other gems on New Brigade are “White Rune” and “You’re Blessed.”
“The Partisan”- Leonard Cohen
From his 1969 album, Songs From A Room. This song is actually an anti-fascist anthem sung about the French Resistance in World War II. It’s a pretty cool song, though. Songs From A Room is one of my favorite Leonard Cohen records. Every song takes its time without the usual dramatic Cohen lag that always toes the line of being completely off, and for once, the entire album has steady, perfectly balanced production that shows off Cohen’s voice and gentle finger-picking style that I think is almost entirely unique to him.
“(-)”- Swans
From their 1999 album, Various Failures. What? A Swans song? On your public playlist? For why? I understand and I’m sorry. Michael Gira is a deeply flawed and disturbed human being.
“Winners Blues”- Sonic Youth
From their 1994 album Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star. I’ve been listening to my fair share of Sonic Youth during the past couple of weeks, and I am continuously taken aback by the range and complexity in every album. Beneath Kim Gordon’s sexy whispers and Thurston Moore’s (slimy) simplistic vocals are often layers of complementary guitar riffs and tones that become better and better the more I pick them apart.

Makura no Danshi - Pillow Boys - Anime Review
OK…. I just watched one of the weirdest anime of my life… Well two of the weirdest anime of my life…. And I didn’t really hate it?..
The first anime I came across is a relatively new anime called OneRoom. In OneRoom, everything is supposed to be in first person… except… only… it’s not??? Because why then can I keep seeing almost up the backs of the girls’ skirts?! Do I have hidden cameras in my apartment? Do I have super powers? Am I having an out of body experience? The answer is NO, they just wanted to cram as much fan service as humanly possible into each 4 minute episode…
Not only that…. But it is the first anime I’ve ever watched which puts YOU in the anime…. or tries to… but fails miserably at this… They make it so you never see, hear, or know anything about the main character… sort of… only except… you do know/assume what he is saying based on the things the girls are saying to you… And unless you’re a total pervert, chances are whatever the anime thinks the main character is feeling/thinking/saying doesn’t line up with what you’re actually feeling/thinking/saying while watching it… so it’s still almost impossible to immerse yourself into this supposed “blank slate”.
While watching it, I felt like I was playing Love+ (a dating sim game), except I wasn’t playing anything at all. It was like a waifu simulator, with all the gamification and simulation parts taken out.
Still… because the artwork was cute… and the music was catchy… and most of all because the episodes were only 4 minutes long, I kept watching….
While reading reviews after watching, just to laugh at peoples “WTF” comments…. I discovered there’s a version of this “anime experiment” designed for women as well….
Enter Makura no Danshi! Pillow Boys! An anime by the same studio as OneRoom, Makura no Danshi, or Pillow Boys, features a different Pillow Boy each week.
What the heck is a Pillow Boy? In Japan, for both guys and girls, there are anime pillow cases that fit large body sized pillows. WARNING NSFW: https://www.aliexpress.com/promotion/promotion_anime-male-body-pillow-promotion.html
This anime was blatantly created for one sole purpose… to sell such pillow cases…. and this anime is effective at doing that… Before watching this anime, I knew about the Pillow Boyfriend / Pillow Girlfriend trend in Japan…. and I’d looked at such pillow cases before… I didn’t have a large pillow at the time though; About 3 weeks ago I got a really big expensive memory foam body pillow…. It’s currently dressed in a not very feminine or kawaii dark color…. Watching Pillow Boys reminded me that I could get something more Kawaii that would fit my image, my room, my decor, my life. I already cuddle my pillow every night so why not cuddle it and look at cute anime boys too lol. So I will probably buy one of these pillow slips, as soon as I decide which one I want… there are literally hundreds of styles, some from popular games and anime, and others completely original characters.
So now that you know what a Pillow Boy is… let’s move on to the actual review…
Title: Makura no Danshi! Pillow Boys!
Episodes: 12
Episode Length: 4 minutes
Studio: Feel
Publisher: Imagineer
Release Date: 2015
Genre: Slice of Life, Shoujo, Romance, “Pillow Boy Simulator?” lol.
Where to Watch: Crunchyroll
Overall: 35/55 64% D “Average Anime for Girls”
Geeky: 1/5? lol… Not sure… I mean it does have pretty art, and actually I really like the opening theme song, and it IS geeky, because I mean, who else buys these pillows except for geeks. But I can’t in good faith give it a higher score here, because aside from the opening theme, there’s almost no other music, each episode is 4 minutes long, and there’s literally no plot, and it’s just weird as heck lol.
Sweetie: 5/5 – at the opposite end of the rating spectrum, this is an incredibly cute, kinda awkward, and at times highly inappropriate, funny, fun, anime…
Concept: 6/10 — Fanservice for Women. Blatant money-grab anime whose sole purpose is to sell merchandise… but yet… oddly… interesting… and entertaining… Each week a new Pillow Boy is introduced… and they’re all pretty cute and likeable….
I want to make a comment here… but it may be a spoiler… not that the story is important or even coherent in this series… but just in case, using my spoiler tags… you can click to read… it’s about the ending of the final episode…
Spoiler
Perhaps the weirdest thing about this anime is, I believe that the characters actually ARE pillows throughout the anime, not just cute guys who the main character (You) spend your time with… My reasons for believing this include, in the final episode the Pillow Boy says “Hey!! Don’t Fluff me! That’s so mean!” Now why on earth or even how on earth would you fluff a person? You could fluff their HAIR maybe, but that’s not what the character says… Also there’s the fact that You are always tired and/or sleeping in every episode… And… the fact that all of these guys know where you live, sleep in your bed, and seem overly familiar with you, and that’s odd especially for Japanese cultures even more so than American culture, and it STILL seemed weird to me too as an American. My first thought was WHY do I have so many different boyfriends, and how do they know where I live, and why are we sleeping together all the time? — All of these things led me to the conclusion that not only are they ACTUALLY PILLOWS; but that YOU as the viewer are well aware of this fact, and that YOU as the viewer and main character, are actually talking to and fantasizing about your pillows… making you perhaps one of the saddest, most desperate, lonely main characters that I have ever seen… On the other hand, you could just be dreaming in each episode, which would be less creepy, and also less funny, than someone talking to their pillows and pretending to be in a relationship with them lol.
And when you realize THAT, it kinda completely changes the entire tone of the anime lol.
Story: 3/10 – Each week a new Pillow Boy is introduced, each episode is self contained and stand-alone. Each episode consists of the Pillow Boy talking to you about his day, and asking you questions, which you’re encouraged as an audience member to talk back to the TV (k we go from talking to pillows to talking to the TV now lol). They don’t give you much time for response, and ultimately, it suffers the same problem as OneRoom, in that it’s still difficult to immerse, because you can still get a vague idea of the “conversation” that is supposedly going on.
Characters: 9/10 – Ok so the characters themselves though are actually strangely cute, and charming. I honestly liked just about all of them. My favorite was probably the cuddly one or the shy astronomy geek, or maybe the naughty twins lol. “Let’s play find the flower” lol. But even the little boy was cute, in a strictly platonic way. But that didn’t stop the anime from making highly inappropriate sexual innuendos and jokes even in that episode such as the title of that episode: “Innocent Danshi, a highly energetic, hot, 5 year old” WHAT THE F??? That is the creepiest weirdest title for an episode I’ve ever seen. PS, the episode is COMPLETELY G rated – thank god. It’s NOT some weird creepy perverted pedophile anime lol. — You know most anime with a “young looking” “Loli” or “Shota” character, they merely LOOK young but are actually of age of consent, and not an ACTUAL 5 year old… but in this anime, he really is a 5 year old, and you’re baby sitting him… I won’t give too much away, but you’re playing power rangers and he tells you to be the pink ranger, and he wants to be the super “rare” black ranger, whose super power is “Fatty Beef Bomber” — Really? lol… Innuendo much there? Given the character’s age, that is just messed up…. But then… when you take into account what I mentioned in the spoiler tag above, about the ending of the final episode, then you can look past this part. Each character is unique and has a charm of their own.
Artwork: 3/5 – The character designs are super cute, but the animation itself is very low quality and cheap. One scene, with your coworker, in particular, keeps one still image on for 1-2 minutes… in a 4 minute episode… that’s…. pretty cheap lol. The character designs are also not consistent — the final episode brings back the pillow boy from Episode 1… and he looks like a junior high school or even elementary school student now (which to be honest, fits his personality better) Except then, near the end, he goes back to looking about college student aged again (as he appeared in the first episode) for a few seconds. I don’t think this was done for any reason other than they were lazy. It wasn’t like he was done in a “chibi” style to be more cute, It was more like, they forgot what they went with, or couldn’t decide on and stick to one style, or they were outsourcing or using different artists – which would be pretty sad given its a 4 minute per episode kind of show, which shouldn’t be overly complex or have that much detail etc.
Music: 3/5 – The opening theme honestly, would be like a 5/5 — I really like it. It’s catchy as heck. But the rest of the anime has almost no music at all… Even an episode where the Pillow Boy is a violinist, which was the weirdest episode to watch without music.
Voice Acting: 5/5 — I thought the voices were cute, as well as the artwork, those two factors played a big role in my liking of the characters and overall enjoyment of the anime.
