Then they showed a picture of Taylor's childhood home and were like "babe you did grow up in a mansion."

This is not a mansion. Is it a large house? Yes. Does having a large house preclude you from worrying about money? No.

Yes, rich people are much much more likely to get a foothold in the arts and to make it in the arts, and Taylor Swift is undoubtedly in that group of individuals. But juxtaposing a farm against something shiny and bright is just better visually. This also goes along with "not every part of a Taylor Swift song has a one-to-one correlation to her life."

And as someone who has dated a couple of people who grew up far far wealthier than I did, that's a great damn lyric. I remember the anger I felt walking about my ex-wife's old high school, at how much more opportunity was there, how nice it was. I bet no one there ever made jokes about asbestos. I bet their roof never leaked when it dumped rain.

There are legit reasons to criticize Taylor. This is not one of them.
