Arionus: Lost Tides
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Designer's Reflection: Lost Tides
Obtained: Tides and Flames hell event
Rarity: UR
Attribute: Purple/Sexy
Awakened Suit: Moon Gazer
Story - transcript from Designer's Reflection
Chapter 1 - Drooping Raindrops
Chapter 2 - Tide and Flame
Chapter 3 - Eternal Promise
Chapter 4 - Flames at Dusk
Chapter 5 - Edge of the World
Story - summarized
Arionus is the only Elf God to be born in the sea, closest to the Abyss. Because of that, They have always had a fragment of that power surging and causing immense pain.
However, Pigeon Forest thrived with Arionus' power over water and rain. And after each pain-racked episode, the Fire Elf God Hephaes would come to make sure They were okay. While other Elf Gods refused to understand Arionus, Hephaes did everything They could to help quell the Abyssal Power and its agony.
But as the Elf Gods grew in power, so, too, did the Abyssal Power. Each ache that shot through Arionus' body became a torrential storm for the mortals. It finally got to the point that Arionus had to separate the Abyss from the Tree of Life, to protect the source of the Elves' power and to prevent any more destruction in Miraland. It would be dangerous, and it would mean They would lose immortality, doomed to die one day.
While Hephaes kept guard, Arionus entered the Source Spring, home of all the Elven Power. In a matter of minutes, the Source for water was destroyed, and the crack leading to the Abyss was sealed. All seemed well.
Until Arionus returned outside. Hephaes was gone, and the other Elf Gods confronted Arionus. None of them would listen, and they all immediately jumped to accusing Arionus of trying to attack the Tree of Life. The hurt and fury brought on by the "betrayal" triggered another painful episode for Arionus.
...Only it never stopped. Storms and tsunamis attacked the continent. Not even Hephaes' comforting fire could quell this turmoil. Arionus was alone.
Connections
-We first hear of Arionus during the Fallen Kingdom Sorrows event: Krista becomes a holy maiden, praying to Them for blessing and prosperity to come to Delmond. Her magic gift of crying tears of crystal came from Arionus - and so did the power to plunge Delmond into the sea.
-In Chapter 3, Arionus is surprised that Hephaes got a Holy Grail instead of a weapon. But in the memories from Dusty Fresco, Arionus and Hephaes talk about their Holy Instruments before they were even made, so They should have known about the Holy Grail by that point.
-Arionus says They will one day die. In Leonid's memories in Prophecy, he reveals that while all gods can die, they will eventually come back - except for the God of Styling.
-Arionus was worried that a tsunami would destroy Miraland. Nikki tells us this was how Miraland was destroyed in all her other timelines: a tsunami from the Ocean of Memories.
Fun Facts
-The game and event treat Arionus as gender-neutral, but the voice actor is feminine.
-While the storms came from Arionus' power, they were also caused, however indirectly, by the scorn and ostracism from the other Elf Gods. Their bigotry led them to shun Arionus and stay ignorant about the truth of the Tree of Life and the Abyss.
-So far, every time we see the power of the Abyss, it tries to consume and obliterate Miraland: the Angel/Demon hell event where the Goddess of Desire attacks Ninir, and now the Tides/Flames hell event where the Abyss surged inside Arionus and tried to force Them to destroy the land.
-The New Moon is tied to the Abyssal Power, most likely because that is when the moon is in darkness. Interestingly, the new moon rises during the daytime, not at night. And unlike in Miraland, you can't see the outline of the new moon.

hear me out.
making the player transport to the ark in vol 2 was a bad decision, first and foremost, because the nonphysical presence within nikki was a more or less accurate representation of how we, the player, perceive it as a game. the fact that for us its a mobile game and we communicate with nikki despite not being really there to experience it was actually integrated into the plot and it was a cool move. plus, the absurdity of being a ghost possessing nikki with a social media presence, cyberbullying ppl who hurt her, was delicious.
the other reason it was a bad decision is that if me and nikki were put into the same physical space, we would immediately cause a continent wide boba shortage.

【 Shining Nikki CN+TW 】 Pavilion

【 Shining Nikki CN+TW 】 Pavilion
Turbid water is just tears of darkness, but fire is the eyes of light.
The long thread of memory passes through death and eternal night, allowing the same protective will to resonate with each other.
The blue crescent moon, the ocean tide, the bottomless abyss.
The light dances among the waves like broken silver, accompanying the lonely soul that has been sleeping under the sea level for a long time, until that cluster of "fire" appears.
The sea water never extinguished the "fire".
It turns into a burning butterfly, cleansing away all filth and darkness.
It burns in the sea water and keeps watch for light in the eternal night.
Since then, the sharp edge of the blue crescent has torn the black tide's net,
The sparkling waves ripple on the sea, blurring the boundaries between sea and sky.
In just that brief moment, the waves and the rising sun, the tide and the flames...the long-separated souls finally reunited.

🌊🌊 Design Concept • Watching in the Abyss 🌊🌊
Arionus was born in chaos and unknown.
He is the ancestor of water who came from the sea and brought rain to the forest.
However, due to the power of the abyss in his body, he was not allowed to enter the clean and sacred "source" Only Hepheus, like a blazing fire, embraced all His filth and darkness.
This pure memory is woven into the skirt of "Watching in the Tide" that flows like broken silver, and under the crown of clear waves, He is a transparent and pure soul.
the sharp edge of the blue crescent tore through the net of the black tide, and the era of disorder and barbarity in the Sea of Eternal Night ended.
But only Anos knows that the real crisis is still spreading in more secret places. In the end, He decided to use his broken body as a seal to resist the undercurrent of the abyss.
He is not afraid of death, but at least before that, He wants to control his destiny in his own hands.
The surging undertide dyes "The Return of the Tide" a rich dark blue, but the gorgeous color of the skirt is still eye-catching.
This extremely gentle protective will will follow Him and shine brightly in the depths of the sea.
🌊🌊 Design Concept • Watching in the Abyss • Comic 🌊🌊
The abyss invaded Anos's body, but his tears turned into crystal-clear little creatures, like star lamps in the sky, lighting up the quiet sea.
The wandering elves are no longer confused, and the floating lives have gained their souls.
On the sea level with blurred boundaries, [Watching in the Abyss·Comic ] was born.
It contains the joy of rebuilding the underwater kingdom and the hope of ushering in a bright future.
It faces the full moon as brilliant as the rising sun, and the colorful semi-transparent light spots are reflected from the skirt and crown to everyone's sight.
That is probably the color of protection.

Tumblr media
teyvat was a land of elemental energy. the grass was filled with dendro, the earth itself formed of geo. anemo lingered in the breeze, electro found in the sky during storms. cryo bit at winter coats and pyro roared in fireplaces, hydro sweeping along in oceans and rivers, carrying fish and boats and twigs that had fallen from trees.
this energy took many forms, naturally, whether by slimes or pure crystals, channeled through ley lines to the surface. leylines themselves were ancient, as old as the dirt they coursed through, blossoming on the surface with the memories of the past on their leaves.
for many, it was impossible to ever exert control over any of this. winds blew, tides turned, leylines pulsed and pulled with little rhyme or reason despite the inherent chaos that came with life.
and it was alive. however rudimentary, slimes still knew their element, still flocked together, still felt defensive when people treaded upon their land. if one knew the pattern they were written in, perhaps they would understand why these slimes were both purely elemental and entirely physical, formed of sludge that splattered and squished when its host died.
you knew this pattern, at least a little. enough that you could get the job done, enough that the leylines called upon memories from the distant past to protect the immediate future, enough that with a slight guidance, you could will the earth itself to your command. it was difficult, what with your distance from your creation, what with the hatred the inhabitants held for you, what with the false one upon your throne. but for you, teyvat responded, flora and fauna heeding your call. if it had a pulse, it heard, and if it didn’t, it still came.
after all, the leylines were alive. you couldn’t feel it, but they were, absorbing every ounce of energy you poured into calling on them. if you wished for the past, then it would be your present, handed to you with a shield of roaring flame and a weapon as sharp as theirs. if the people of this world refused to care for you, then teyvat would make it up to you. within the red dead of night was a gift to you of your own making: life.
to be alive was a complicated thing; to be a reflection of the past even more so. reflections were not meant to leave the mirrors they were confined to, the past not meant to stick around after the threat had dissipated and the earth was soothed. but to be alive was to feel, and it was impossible to fully dispel the emotions you held when drawing upon the elements. your desperation bled through, your fear sank into the air, and could you blame the earth for wanting to shield the one who had made it?
surely not.
surely you wouldn’t fault the embodiment of your own panic for wanting to protect you from it? surely you wouldn’t call your own need for safety an illusion, and wouldn’t wrong the one attempting to preserve it?
you wouldn’t.
in your defense, the first changes were subtle. even he did not recognize it at first; though in fairness, it’s unclear if he even could.
lucidity came and went in short, brief glimpses, thin slivers of consciousness scattered between battles.
a hesitance before dismissal. a lingering look or a too-long breath, his elemental strength dimming the slightest amount for the slightest moment, the gap filled by divinity—and then it’s gone, and so is he, and you’re wondering why nikki is looking at you so strangely.
as you get a better hold on the power you hold, you begin to summon him more often. for protection on walks, for help finding fruit for food, to help light the fire when rain has soaked any available wood. it’s… strange, to be called upon for such mundane tasks. he was created to defend, to protect, and yet you ask for his help collecting apples and sunsettias? the flat gray of his existence was broken by your bright voice, your soft smile, the glimmer of feeling rooted deep in his chest, so unfamiliar yet not unwelcome.
it was odd, to feel. strange, for physical symptoms to manifest when he saw you hide from attackers or laugh at a joke. imagine it were you, first being born into this world, bright colors and subconscious feelings thrown at you before you even had a name. your existence is only within the context of another: where they are, why they called you, whether whatever soul is timidly forming within you recoils at the sight of a tear on their cheek.
it’s confusing. it’s weird. your thumb is wet and their skin is warm, and they look at you like they never realized you were alive at all.
maybe he wasn’t meant to be. his existence is unintentional and yet directly called for—what a conundrum, to be wanted but not to arrive. how odd to be told to fight, and yet to be treated tentatively when it’s recognized he has a reason for wielding his blade.
(yours? he doesn’t know. he has a weapon in his hands and a fire in his grip, only knowing to defend you. is not his purpose to protect? what is he? who?)
(why do you look at him like that?)
his existence is strange, he thinks, flipping through his shallow memory. glimpses of people and things—but always with you at the core. you, walking him through a forest. you, picking a leaf from his hair. you, handing him a bright white flower. you, with someone that he knows looks identical to him despite never seeing his reflection.
who’s that?
he grabs for the memory, trying to keep hold of red hair and a black, furred jacket, but the memory slips through his fingers like water in a stream. it tumbles over the small stones of his consciousness, other memories sweeping it away, away, further down the current, far from where his gloves can grasp.
who’s that? who’s he? what does he look like? the world around him is dull and gray, something like a mist coating the floor, wrapping around boots he barely recognizes as his own. he’s wearing a coat, it’s red, he has a gray vest and something silver around his leg, but none of this tells him anything. he feels like he should know, like the information is just around the next corner, just beyond where his ringed fingers reach, but the mist has rooted his feet to the floor.
he’s tired. he lets his hands fall, lets the cloud of his half-existence fog his mind once again, lets the mist on the floor creep up his body as he lies down.
would you tell him, if he asked? if he asked after the man who looked like him, with (what does he look like?) red hair and a coat? would he remember to do so at all?
could he ask, if he did remember?
time passes. he doesn’t know how much. he blinks, and suddenly he’s standing at the mouth of a cave, arms full of berries he doesn’t remember picking, and you’re looking at him in expectation.
he tries to speak, to breathe, to say something to convey his confusion, but all that comes out is a tilt of his head and an inquisitive look.
“have you seen nikki?” you ask again, and he dimly wonders why he can understand language and yet not speak it.
he shakes his head, the errant thought slipping from his mind as he does so. the next time he blinks, he’s watching a pot of soup. strange furred creatures litter the field around him, but you’re sitting with one cloaked in blue, so he assumes they’re friendly.
the soup is done. he doesn’t know how he knows, since he doesn’t remember how much time has passed since he put it on the flame, but he does. he takes the pot off and stands, tapping your shoulder and pointing to it. the blue-clad thing waddles over to the fire and puts it out with water it summons from somewhere, and he helps you up.
you smile. “thank you,” you say, and he nods, and he finds himself dazed as he patrols the outer ring of wherever he is, listening to you and nikki talk.
a twig snaps. he grabs his weapon. another of the creatures comes out, one hand raised, the other holding an armful of apples. he lets his weapon dissolve.
this is his routine. this is what he was made for.
Tumblr media
you look over at him from your place by the fire, empty bowl in hands as you turn nikki’s words over in your mind.
“are you sure?”
she nods. “it’s possible, i’ve seen it before. and your relationship to this world is… well, it makes it prone to happening.”
you can’t help but agree. “what happens then?”
she shrugs, taking your bowl and stacking it in hers, passing it to one of the hillichurls collecting them. “then it happens. not much we can do to stop it; if anything, wouldn’t it take the burden off you? it takes a lot of energy to keep a reflection summoned, and to keep him around without that would be nice.”
it feels wrong, almost, to talk about him like that, like a utility… but that’s what he started as, no? wasn’t he a reflection of your wishes to stay safe?
“he’d need a name then, right?”
nikki shrugs. “it’s up to him what he wants that to be.”
“but at least until he can talk for himself- it would be weird to call his full title, right?”
“just give him a temporary one, then. he can pick when he can tell you what he wants.”
“…if you say so.”
it feels wrong, to discuss his name without him present, but what else are you to do? he can’t tell you it himself—he’s never so much as spoken a word, no matter how many conversations you try to strike.
you’ll just have to give him one yourself, it seems.
Tumblr media
he was nowhere, and then he was somewhere. simple as that.
you smile at him as he tries to subtly look around, attempting to place himself in his surroundings. “whispering woods,” you say, and he relaxes slightly before turning to you in shock.
how did you know he was… what was even the word? real? he was real before he knew he was. tangible wasn’t it, he never needed to sleep so ‘awake’ wasn’t the word…
“i’ve known for a while.” you pick a sunsettia from a tree, crouching to give it to the foxes that were waiting below it. “it’s okay. nikki says it’s happened before.”
what heart he had sped up, a new emotion pushing to the forefront of his mind.
would you dislike that he was- was what? him? when did he even start thinking of himself as ‘he’ to you?
he didn’t know. but you hadn’t given him life from the start, or at least not intentionally, and that meant he had to be doing something wrong, right? if he wasn’t fulfilling his purpose how you intended? would you be mad?
he was afraid. this wasn’t an emotion he felt very often lately, but one he was familiar with. he hated this, the chill in his stomach—should he even feel this in reference to you? was his fear for or of you? for or of himself?
“until you’re able to tell me for yourself-“ his jaw locked, teeth pressed together, as if taunting him to try and correct you. “-i was going to give you a temporary name.”
a name?
his fear ebbed, soothed by the knowledge that you liked him enough to not only keep him around, but.. oh, to give him a name?
how blessed was he. how divine were you.
“you can tell me later if you’d like to change it, of course, but it’s easier to give you one now for clarity’s sake.”
he’d never even think of denying you. you could call him whatever you wanted, change it by the hour and expect him to know, and you’d have the right to get mad at him if he didn’t know you were referring to him. you were his god, his light, his creator, and he was yours to do with as you wished.
“it’d be weird if i called you by his name, and the full outfit name is too long… what about just red? would that be okay?”
of course it would be okay. you had given him breath, the body that he defended you with, you’d given him his eyes and hands and blade and granted him the privilege of standing by your side. whatever you wanted. anything you wanted. he’d pull the moon from the sky if the trees were too thick for you to see, he’d sew the stars into a cloak for you to hide within when the search parties got too close. if only you’d ask, he’d hand over everything he ‘owned,’ down to the shirt on his back and the life in his lungs.
any gift you wished to give him was one to be cherished, and for you to give him a name?
red nodded. of course it was okay. it would always be okay. he was yours to model, to shape, to form—any name you wished for him to take was now his identity, one granted to him by the highest of the divine.
you smiled. “that’s good to hear.”
perhaps if you knew how piously he prayed to you, even outside of his bouts of consciousness, you would hesitate before calling him ‘good.’

Ok, I’m gonna take a stab at putting Caprico’s backstory into a timeline. If I get anything wrong, please correct me, but from a person who only knows the lore vaguely, here’s my interpretation:
1. Caprico is on the ark/ocean of memories b/c he’s an envoy. The god war happened and he gets yeeted to miraland with all of his limbs intact + that purple crystal thing. The god who yeeted him is unknown, but I personally think it’s either us (God of styling) or Arionous/the water god who fell into the abyss
2. He’s found under some iced over water somewhere in North Kingdom. Specifically whatever that town is called.
3. He’s given alcohol, gets flirted with and fixes some soldier’s old gun. He’s recognized as being skilled with machines and then Caprico gets a job at the local weapons arsenal/evil engineer laboratory/big factory with a lot of machines
4. Evil engineer guy recognizes Caprico’s purple crystal and tricks Caprico to give him the crystal and be apart of his experiment. Caprico agrees because of the promise of his memories being restored to him.
5. The evil engineer’s evilness corrupts the purple crystal which holds memories and Caprico gets his limbs ripped off and replaced by robot ones. Including his entire arm. Then gets frozen solid in ice (I think?)
6. Something goes wrong or right, but now very sharp dangerous magical ice is everywhere and the engineer is terrorizing the town with it. Caprico kills him, questions his humanity, and then blows up the factory/arsenal.
7. Caprico ends up back at the ocean of memories and a person/being prophesies that Caprico is always bound to make himself become a monster and also that his god is dead(? Or gone). Caprico goes back into the ice water where he was first found. (Personally I think that the ‘person’ mentioned here might be Leonid but that’s just speculation on my part).
8. Caprico’s body is restored/returned to its original state (without the entire robot arm). He somehow gets out of the ice water and lives normally again but without his previous memories.
9. He gets invited to Ruin island, cuts off his leg and whatever else and replaces them with robot parts again. This time by his own will. (Explaining why he doesn’t have the same robotic parts as he did before?)
10. Caprico gets kicked off of Ruin island and goes to live on the coast of wasteland for a little bit before heading to Rosset and becoming the Mechanical Werido who sells bombs and guns. Cue beginning of Shining Nikki or something. His reflections are somewhere in this part of the timeline as well.
Hopefully this helped a little bit to anyone who’s confused. I know this was a bit of a chapter summary but I’m my defense, this chapter was confusing with missing the lore event context.

✨Girlbosstember✨ Official Commentary—Day 6
Hello and welcome back to another great day of Girlbosstember! Yesterday’s matches wrapped up with Queen Elle claiming a narrow victory in the Love League while The Goddess of Desire easily moved on in the Shining League. Both badass lady bosses will be back in the Quarter Finals, and who they’ll be facing will be determined today!
For the Love League, we have Sofia versus Mela! Sofia is a well renowned and respected actress in the December Troupe. She is known for earning the lead role in the production ‘The Candy Witch and The Star Sea’, donning the legendary dress for the role—and also being the one behind the plot to steal it. That’s right, this charming and talented pink haired leading lady is also none other than a member of the Phantom Thief family, and is a highly trained thief capable of orchestrating elaborate heists of priceless artifacts! Despite her shady upbringing, her heart belongs on the stage, and she defied her family’s expectations to take the life she wanted for herself. Girlboss move? We’ll find out! Up against her today is another young woman capable of hiding ulterior motives, Mela of the Iron Rose! While also having been known to snatch a priceless design or two, Mela is no common thief and in fact serves the will of the Pigeon Queen on the quest to retrieve Sayet’s final treasure. Snarky yet loyal, her sexy bad woman aesthetic pairs with the artistic soul of a talented saxophonist to produce a prickly young woman with hidden depth. Ultimately proving herself loyal to her cause, she goes from adversary to ally when Nikki falls in with the Iron Rose. And did I mention she actually took her current name from a baby after she decided she liked it and deserved it more than the baby? Might be a girlboss after all! Currently Mela has a small lead but it could still go either way.
Meanwhile in the Shining League, we have Aphrodia versus Ashley! Aphrodia is the embodied goddess of love and beauty in Miraland. Born from the Ocean of Memories, she is able to visit Miraland and likes to be in the vicinity of strong love. She has taken on many names and guises throughout her time, but each one of her forms is gorgeous and divinely talented, as is fitting for a literal goddess. Meanwhile, Ashley is a designers reflection who has also wandered into Miraland from the Ocean of Memories. She is the leftover parts of the original girl that Lilith left behind, but while she was deeply hurt by how the world had treated her, she managed to find a place to belong in Cersei’s school and made new friends who like being around her, and has been slowly but surely recovering from her trauma. Oh and in the past when she hit her breaking point she did commit Grand Arson. Which of these ladies is more of a girlboss? We will find out today! Ashley currently holds a strong lead, but only time will tell if it holds.
Keep voting, girlboss deciders!

Chapter 2 - Apocalypse
Chapter 3 - Stars
Chapter 4 - The Fall
Chapter 5 - Revelation
Story - summarized
~Content Warning: major spoilers for the game’s plot~
After defeating and trapping the Goddess of Desire in the abyss, Leonid soars out of the Ocean of Memories... and into his next trial. He comes face to face with the many, many gods of faiths throughout space and time. As each civilization or religion rises, so too does the corresponding god or pantheon.
None of them are happy that Leonid bested a god. They see him as a threat to their very existence: if a mortal defeated one god, who is to say it won’t happen again? They try to destroy him - fortunately, while the gods are all-powerful, they’re not all-knowing, so Leonid is able to escape.
He comes across an old friend of his, the God of Styling and Their five envoys. They offer him a respite, but Leonid doesn’t want to stay long. He still desires knowledge and the greater pursuit of truth. He says goodbye to Them and Their envoys before leaving.
But not long after he left, the older gods waged war against the newer gods. The old gods want to destroy Miraland and other similar continents to prevent other humans from coming there and besting them. The new gods wish to protect the humans from destruction and terror. Finally, the God of Styling decides to give up Their life - Their very existence, even - to end the war. No god is unscathed, but Miraland is safe for now.
The fallen gods all come back as civilizations rise again, and they fade when their peoples die out.
Except for the God of Styling. They took Themself out of the cycle of rebirth.
Leonid tried in vain to bring Them back, traveling through time, planting the power of styling, tracking history through designs. Nothing brought Them back.
Finally, Leonid heard a voice from the future. It was Nikki, saying she would never give up. Her will to keep going triggered a flash of light. The light of the God of Styling.
Leonid named her his successor, gave her the snowflake necklace, and set up star trails to guide Nikki and help you, the God of Styling, come back to life.
Connections
-After defeating the Goddess of Desire, she “looks” past Nikki and says to the player, “It’s you.” She recognizes you as the deity that died during the war.
-The overarching story arc for Volume 2 is finding the Five Envoys. They are the ones surrounding the God of Styling when Leonid approaches them, and as “you” explore Vol. 2 with Nikki, each of them says you feel familiar.
-In Vol. 2, Chapter 1, Leonid’s voice tells you, the player, to “open the door and return to your world.” He’s hinting that you are the missing god.
-While trying to bring back the God of Styling, Leonid noted that Nikki kept failing but never gave up. Nikki’s Reflection for Star Sea explains that she kept going back in time to try to save Miraland, and her desire to keep trying is the spark that resonated with you, the God of Styling, and woke you up.
-Nikki got the snowflake necklace from Leonid in the game Nikki Up2U.
Fun Facts
-All the clothing pieces in the suit are super versatile. They can blend into any suit (as you saw during the “mistake” photos in October).
-This Reflection is a fitting end to Leonid’s trilogy. He remains mysterious as ever, but it explains more why he chose Nikki as his successor, why it seemed he wanted Miraland to head towards destruction, and what his ultimate goal is.
-Leonid mentions a Tree of Life. Several religions feature such a tree in their mythology.
-The God of Styling says that there will always be a cycle of death and rebirth. Rebirth/reincarnation is another concept that several religions have.
-In the trailer for Nikki’s suit Star Sea, a celestial figure whispers to her, “You can do it.” It’s possible this is you, the God of Styling, coming back to join her.
-The God of Styling is gender neutral in the Reflection. Sometimes, Leonid uses he/him or she/her pronouns, but the god is always neutral. So, I made all the pronouns They/Them for clarity’s sake here.
