Out of the OL bubble
Sidenote: this post owes everything to the incredible sleuthing skills of an already longtime trusted friend, who wishes to remain discreet. All credit goes entirely to her - this is such an idiotic topic, yet the Ur Troll insists.
I answered one of you in the comment threads yesterday, that once you get the hell out of the OL bubble, things begin to make sense. Why? Well, because of distance and context, I suppose. And also because this always was the dirty little secret of our Dedicated Manipulative Trolls: to make you believe in a terribly poor narrative, fit for a linear world. A world without compromise, drama, secrets and lies. Collective lack of time, perspective and/or Internet research skills did the rest and gave birth to this monster: the OL Fandom.
We are now told and are supposed to believe that because Scottish Xena apparently chose on purpose (with this and only this, I could agree, but for opposite reasons) to show us she trains in a Cumbernauld gym, that means... well, you know the rest and it involves The Magic Golden Dirk. That troll was never exactly subtle, was she, bless her heart?
That mother and entrepreneur has a life of her own and an entourage of her own and business collaborations of her own and her own agenda. Some of it is shown on her Instagram account, most of it can be speculated. Connecting dots just for the sake of it is neither productive, nor remotely interesting.
Let's see, for example, how she reacts to a very insistent fellow German athlete, whom she is going to meet at the Hyrox Cologne event (13-14th of April, during the Landcon week-end):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
😬😱
What is Flamingos Club? Nope, not an ikebana society, no:
Tumblr media
Tee-hee.
They were there before, in good company, last year, when they actually first met (rings a bell?):
Tumblr media
(April 2023, ok? I am still waiting for my own DeLorean)
Who is this guy?
Tumblr media
Fellow athlete, HYROX Ambassador (something I bet the farm she wants to achieve) and a contestant in this year's German reality show First Dates Hotel, on VOX (https://www.vox.de/cms/sendungen/first-dates-hotel.html):
Tumblr media
The concept is simple: a renowned German chef, Roland Trettl (no idea!) now takes his blind date cooking show to the next level, with singles from all over the country parked into a Spanish dream holiday resort (Mallorca), shake, stir and see whatever happens. The classical Endemol recipe, now produced by Twenty Twenty. It also has an UK version, running on Channel 4 (coincidence? I doubt that very much, thank you!).
On set, Max's 'love interest' is a certain Linda. He recently wrote her ' a sweet love letter', taking the good advice of his namesake cast friend Max-the-Bartender:
Tumblr media
(I swear to God, I feel like I am prostituting my 🧠, right now).
There is obviously nothing to see, here (or is it, such as two wannabes desperately wanting limelight?). She leads the typical no strings attached life of a single mom and he is still looking for a real job:
Tumblr media
Since VOX does not give his full name, neither will I. It took five minutes to find him, with a bit of luck.
Why on Earth would one connect that woman to S, rather than to this nice, ambitious Bavarian?
I know why. It's almost too damn easy.
Two words: Channel 4. Truman Show. Ginger and Fred (oops, these are Our Couple).
Is it anything we haven't seen before?
Nope. We've seen way worse. But gone are the Days of Flukenzie Floozy.
[Edited] - there is no need to further expose our people.

i really like the idea of sleuth being kanaya's exile. she casually talks about him like Oh Yes He Was Quite The Character. Introduced Himself, Too. Seems He Figured Out What Was Going On Quite Fast and as she keeps talking everyone can just see cracks starting to form on jane's glass as she starts to connect some dots

Nancy in her beautiful minding space and Ace is finally riding the wave listening to Nancy connecting the dots.
Tumblr media
Tristian is taking Nancy somewhere in her mind. To the original sin and how Horseshoe Bay dealt with it? ??
Tumblr media
BUT Ace finally looks concerned for Nancy when she collapsed! So did Tristian! ( eh)
The jacket you all were talking about in previous trailer still thinking it was Ace’s. It is NOT! Look at Tristian’s jacket. It is his due to where Nancy collapsed in front of Tristian but at least we finally got concerned Ace behavior back!
Tumblr media
The townsfolk reminds me of salem witchcraft scare, the townfolks with their light sticks and pitchforks so what does that mean? But they turn and not going toward to the Drew crew and Tristian? Hmm..
Tumblr media
Nancy is wearing her sleuthing black hat so where was she breaking into?? George has her crowbar! If you watch the video, watch her hand moving something near Bess.
Tumblr media
Why does the townfolks have firesticks? Power out? Mindset of 1800’s? Why is Nick so upset with Ace/George holding him back. It has to be about Jade being in trouble, for what???
Tumblr media
Nancy saying goodbye to the Claw! Awww 💔😭💔
Tumblr media
Finally, Ace is reaching out to Nancy!!! Testing his water with her!
Tumblr media
Nancy accepts! 😭
Tumblr media
So with this, are they saying hello, I have missed you!! Or are they saying goodbye to each other for whatever insanity reason?

ok finally got to watch the new horizons ep (HZ014) and HOOOLY SHIT
i guess this is still new so spoilers under the cut
first of all Liko, Murdock and Friede reassuring Dot that she shouldn’t stress over the system too much was really sweet, as well as Murdock later thanking Liko for being friendly to Dot. Also, it’s very small but Murdock brought Dot her breakfast and she ate it! it’s a really good way to show the slight development Dot’s having, while still being kinda subtle about it.
Roy and Hogator helping Kaiden fly was super sweet as well, it’s nice that we’re finally getting a new pokemon added to the roster. Roy and Hogator have quickly become one of my favorite parts of the series, and catches like these where there’s some bonding beforehand with no expectation of the catch always make me emotional. (Also, Hogator’s little antennae(?) flopping down when they got wet was super cute!) Nyahoja is personally a favorite of mine but this series has made me really like Hogator too.
Seeing Friede’s genuine frustration when he was cornered by Beeheeyem and Rarecoil was really interesting when compared to his more lax nature we usually see, especially in contrast to his interactions with Amethio. Seeing them terrastalize was cool, also. I understand he probably didn’t want to stress the crew out, but not saying anything regarding the flock of Rarecoil, or even warning them to be careful/not allowing Liko and Roy to go off on their own is really gonna bite him in the ass soon.
It seems at this point the RVT aren’t aware of what happened to Liko, either. It’s at times like these that i remember how op pokemon like Beeheeyem can be, esp in the anime. It seems Liko and Nyahoja got their memories wiped, if the preview for next week is anything to go by.
Spinel makes for such a scary villain, unironically. His sleuthing and clever use of his pokemon give him a huge advantage, and seeing a competent villain is really thrilling and nice. It’s a good thing he hasn’t seemed to connect the importance of both Liko and her pendant, he could have straight up snatched her and taken her to the Explorer’s HQ and everyone would be none the wiser.
Anyways, this episode was a treat and well worth the wait, i already can’t wait for next week (but that’s pretty typical at this point, heh)

Sunrise Guarded by Night Chapter 3: Midnight Sleuthing
If a new gang has moved into Blüdhaven, there’s one person who can understand their motives. If he isn’t distracted by a certain shopkeeper.
Pairing: Nightwing x Ileana Dimitriov (OC)
Warnings/Promises: light threatening, twinge of fluff
Word Count: 500
Note: Short chapter, but lots of dots to connect.  Happy reading! Comments and reblogs are always welcome. This is part 2 of another commission that came in. Catch up on the chapters here: Chapter 1: Every Morning || Chapter 2: New Landlord
Tumblr media
Nightwing breathed over his gloves. Not even Gotham was this cold. Somehow, a chilling haze had settled over Blüdhaven. He worked hard to keep himself warm without giving away his position with his breath. But at the three-hour mark, his patience was wearing thin.
Down in the street, Ileana was wrapped in the warm light of the Cuppa Sunrise. The shoppe was spotless. Like a snow globe Nightwing hoped nobody would shake. She moved slow. Slower than the other times he’d dropped by during his… it wasn’t a route. Having a route meant having a pattern. Something trackable. Something dangerous. He didn’t stop by often. Only when he needed to see someone that he considered comforting. Nightwing shook his head. Even he recognized the excuse. But now it was time to move. Up the block, out of sight of Ileana’s shoppe, the family market had a pair of visitors knocking on the door. Much too late for patrons.
At first, the owner wouldn’t let them in. Then, the taller of the two helped himself. By punching inwards, the sound of broken glass didn’t echo into the street. The shorter of the two walked around the shoppe like he owned the place. He picked up bags and trinkets to look at them and pocketed a few items. The tall one scoped out the exits, preventing the owner from running for help. All the while, the short one talked. Until something he said made the owner mad enough to lash out. Faster than Nightwing could blink, the owner was sitting on his own counter with his hands held behind his back. More talking. The owner lowered his head, nodding. A few minutes later, the two men left.
The vigilante had a chilling thought. That is what they did to Ileana. It made his blood boil.
He followed them for two more hours as they did the same exact thing to two other businesses. It was like clockwork. They found a way in. Lightly ravaged the place. Made their demands. Then left, promising to send someone to clean up their mess. The last stop was far east of the precinct’s map. Moving this fast, they would soon overtake at least one of the other “protection” gangs. Which would lead to fireworks. When those began to shoot off, the businesses would be caught in the crosshairs. The new power could only collect a protection fee if there was a reason to need protection. And their expansion would ensure that need.
But the subtle threatening wouldn’t be enough to make anyone talk. Silence was safe. No talking meant no paperwork, no paper trail to use against the new power when things hit the fan. There was nothing Nightwing could do until somebody got hurt. With a sigh, he hopped to the next rooftop to head home. Hopefully, Ileana wouldn’t be the one to get hurt.
Further back on another rooftop, a shadow mirrored Nightwing’s movements.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK. hand retracts from the door, loosely falling beside petite frame. an impeccable detective knows how to connect dots, all information important and needed to put the pieces together and finalize the puzzle. an impediment in her path as she stumbled into weathervane, her assistant missing. that was disappointing to say the least. it didn’t take much for her to use thing’s knowledge and find a solution to her problems – as unethical as it may be. gathering information about possible suspects, be it friend or foe, was necessary. seeing the bigger picture always led to a sooner discovery, the secrets lying underneath one’s nose the entire time.
“tyler?” voice resonates and flies by with the wind, face only inches away from his door. thoughts rush in, taking her aback for a fleeting moment. what if he became a victim to the monster? what if he was in trouble? those what ifs sparking interest within. it’d be yet another mystery the black and white sleuth would have to uncover. head turns to a side, noticing a dog. he told her that already, as far as she recalls. had the door not been answered, she’d had to interrogate the only witness at the scene, a canine. if the dead held answers, then so did animals. gaze snaps towards the door, she thought she heard a sound.

So, woke up in the middle of the night with a hunger headache. You don't really have to be a super sleuth to determine the cause, I've been lifting heavy boxes most days the past week, I'm burning through nutrition faster
I say to my mom that for the time being I may need double portions, and she's like "Oh, you don't want to do that, what you want to do is eat little snacks through out the day", and I really connect the dots for her that I'm using a lot more energy than normal and need to eat a lot more right now, and she's like "Oh! Okay!", but... I don't think she's got it
Like she asked me if I wanted one or two sausages just now and it's like... three, four... like two if that's my maximum option, but I'm telling you I need lots to eat
Side note... this is one of the things that makes it harder to get shit done, normally even not doing much I'm winding up with hunger headaches, so adding actually physical activity on top is... you know, it's hard to pull off when I'm already running a deficit
Not like this is anything new, been getting hunger headaches since I was little (looking through these boxes I get to see the shit my mom would buy instead of food)... just sucks

Can we take a moment to appreciate Renegades Flint for being the “Only Sane Man”?
Tumblr media
From his perspective, Cobra is a long-standing, respectable corporation that has only been beneficial to everyday people.  And when four rogue Army personnel are accused of assault and murder by said corporation, he has no reason to disbelieve Cobra due to their long-standing reputation.
And he has every reason to suspect the soldiers who are on the run have either ulterior motives or have been hired by a third unseen party to snub Cobra (more under the cut).
Tumblr media
As we see in Homecoming, Part 1, Duke’s family is struggling to pay the bills after his father was fired.  It’s easy for Flint to conclude that things could become so bad at home that Duke would be desperate enough to take an offer to smear Cobra in exchange for money.  And Duke didn’t help matters by remaining silent, further implying to Flint - who has zero knowledge of what their life has been like up to this point - that he’s being pressured or had his family threatened in order to keep him silent.
Tumblr media
Tunnel Rat’s family is implied to be rather stable in terms of monetary issues, but T.R. had previously gotten himself into trouble by sneaking through the off-limits sections of the sewers.  In fact, he’d done it often enough to warrant getting arrested, and joined the Army to avoid jail time.  Is it any wonder why Flint would think that Tunnel Rat would accept an offer to trash a Cobra Pharmaceuticals Plant?  With a record like that, I’d certainly think that he’d made the jump from a petty criminal to a threat to society.
Tumblr media
Roadblock’s family has a history of not being the wealthiest, but there was never a dire need for money like Duke - especially given that Roadblock’s single instance of trouble was in his teen years, hinted to be some sort of ‘rebellious phase’.  While that could easily be brushed aside, Flint knows that even a taste of trouble could be alluring enough to cause serious harm in the future.  And when the individual in question has a rebellious streak?  I’ll let you connect the dots there.
Tumblr media
And then we get to Scarlett (I just love his expression when he finally has to address her - barely five minutes, and he knows she’s a pain.)
Scarlett has the highest rank and has an entire file practically spelling out her vendetta with Cobra.  While it’s clear she was the one who got the others roped into this mess, Scarlett’s obviously not someone Duke or even Tunnel Rat and Roadblock would listen to.  Therefore, to Flint’s mind, there must be another man pulling the strings of this operation, and who has it out for Cobra.
Tumblr media
Everything Flint says in Renegades is perfectly reasonable and logical.  He’s done nothing wrong with his reasoning - in fact, he’s doing the right thing by going through this in a Sherlock-esq manner.  The only flaw to his methodical mindset is that sometimes, you have to operate your sleuthing thusly:
“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” - Sherlock Holmes
But in spite of his bull-headed nature, Flint begins to open his mind.
Tumblr media
Duke’s a convicted criminal, said to have murdered someone....
Tumblr media
...and Flint, with Duke dead to rights, didn’t take the shot.
Looks like someone’s beginning to eliminate the impossible.

Killabustas (S2, E9)
Tumblr media
My time-stamped thoughts for this episode are below. As always I reference Malcolm’s mental health. A lot. So if that’s going to be a trigger for you, don’t keep reading.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
0:00 - Are the birds flying past Malcolm’s apartment supposed to be an omen for the rest of the season? Or just some foreshadowing for the bird-heavy episode? .....I’m probably reading wayyy too much into this.
0:12 - Ugh. Someone give this sweet cinnamon roll a hug. He’s spiralling. He is so close to having a total mental breakdown and it breaks my heart. (but like, I also want to see it because emotional whump is my favourite).
0:23 - “How can I trust you? I know what you did.” This. This is what’s killing Malcolm. The fear that if Gil, Dani, JT, and Edrisa find out what he did for Ainsley they won’t trust him. He’s afraid they’ll abandon him. He’s afraid that they’ll hate him as much as he already hates himself. ISTG the moment they all find out (or tell Malcolm what they suspect) Malcolm will break. That will be the metaphorical straw that breaks the camel’s back.
0:34 - Anyone else think Malcolm looks completely adorable (yet super sad and scared) when he’s focusing on painting? <3
0:45 - “Why must everything you paint have an exit wound?” I love that this suggests that this isn’t the first mother-son painting session. <3 hahaha
0:47 - “It’s a pear.” It’s heartbreaking that Malcolm didn’t even realize that his pear was bleeding. C’mon Jessica, it’s time for an intervention. Malcolm is breaking in front of you. DO SOMETHING.
1:01 - NO. DAMN IT FEDAK. I wanted to see Malcolm’s reaction when Jessica told him she was writing a memoir. I wanted to see it so badly. I wanted to see him panic about the fact that she was inevitably going to disclose information about his childhood that he’d rather not have public.
1:09 - “How much worse you really are.” OOOOOOOOOOHHHH SHIT. I can’t believe he said that to his Mother’s face. hahahaha OMG. Malcolm is a little shit head and I love him. Well, at least I know he’s upset about the fact that she’s writing this book. His jab at Jessica proves that much.
1:42 - Is Malcolm playing matchmaker here? hahaha or is he just trying to get Jessica out of his loft ASAP?
1:53 - “Why didn’t they call me?!?” Can you hear the sound of my heart breaking? I understand why they didn’t call him in on this one BUT it’s not helping Malcolm’s mental health. On top of the fear that he is becoming his father, the stress of covering up a murder, the fear that his sister is going to become a serial killer, his childhood trauma, and usual mental health issues - Malcolm is afraid he’s going to be abandoned if the team finds out about Endicott. This is reinforcing those fears.
1:55 - “Where should I start?” At least Jessica can see how much pain Malcolm is in. I wish she’d do something constructive about it.
2:00 - “Forget to call someone?” Something about the way Malcolm waltzes into the frame and delivers that line is super endearing. He’s like a little kid running after his older siblings and their friends when they tried to go to the mall without him. <3
2:05 - Why the hell didn’t Gil just pull a 1x12 on Malcolm and insist Malcolm take a holiday? Hell - he could’ve gotten Jessica to enforce it. The fact that Gil is being super distant with Malcolm is not helping Malcolm’s very fragile mental health. GIL I’M DISAPPOINTED IN YOU (and I have been all season....) :(
2:12 - “Trauma’s my middle name.” Okay so 1) what is Malcolm’s middle name? If it’s Martin please tell me he changed it when he changed his last name. 2) At least we got a small papa!Gil moment this episode. <3
2:26 - “Fine.” This is Gil terrified. Remember what Gil said in 1x12? “He was losing it. I mean, I could see that. But I was afraid that I’d lose him.” That’s why Gil is letting Malcolm on this case. He knows Malcolm is losing it and he’s terrified of what Malcolm might do to himself with time on his hands. Gil doesn’t think Malcolm should be working but he knows it’s the only thing he can do to help Malcolm in the short term.
2:42 - hahahaha Gil’s taken-aback look when Malcolm starts not-so-subtly being a member of the Gillica fan club. hahaha <3
3:00 - Okay. I’m done. Edrisa can’t still think she and Malcolm might happen. I can’t handle this blantant one-sided worship anymore and I’m so glad it’s ending this episode (I hope).
3:07 - “and also, you’re bleeding.” <3 JT looking out for Bright. <3
3:12 - “Oh. I thought that this was your hobby?” <3 Dani teasing Bright. <3 I love that Dani, Edrisa, and JT are at least giving Malcolm some positive attention right now. It’s good for his fragile mental state. <3
3:40 - The directing is really good this episode. I’m not usually a person who notices that kind of thing but DAMN.
“It’s an expression of power and control.” “Sounds like someone with serious anger issues.” Yikes. Why do the ‘cases of the week’ always relate back to Malcolm’s current mental health crisis?!? Malcolm dismembered a body (for Ainsley but still). Now he’s profiling that the act of dismembering a body is an expression of power and control. That reinforces his fear that he’s becoming like Martin. Dani’s distaste and offhanded comment about anger issues won’t help Malcolm’s very real fear of abandonment. Hell, it’s compounding his fears that he’s like his father - the man obsessed with power and control who has a nasty temper when things don’t go his way.
4:09 - “Our killer derived pleasure from this.” Dani looks terrified when Malcolm says this. Is it just because she thinks this is a gross and scary murder scene? Or is it because she’s connecting the Malcolm+Endicott dots?
4:11 - “budding homicidal psychopath” is this supposed to be foreshadowing that Malcolm is becoming a psychopath? The writers have been suggesting that Malcolm enjoyed cutting up the body all season. .....and I don’t want the story to go that way. Please no.
4:15 - “I think I just became a vegetarian.” hahahaha JT is my hero. I love this dude and his dry but humorous comments.
4:26 - Once again - I can’t rewatch the Martin+Capshaw scenes. Once was more than enough. My basic thoughts on this particular scene? Capshaw and Martin are both gross. I think Martin is desperate for physical contact and Capshaw knows it. I think Capshaw is manipulating Martin (why is a mystery to me). I also think Martin is manipulating Capshaw so he can use her to help him escape.....I do however think Martin is a heterosexual male who is full of lust and physical desires. (which is really gross to me - a sex-repulsed asexual).
6:22 - I have a serious love-hate relationship with this scene. On one hand, Gil is clearly so so so concerned about Malcolm here and it warms my cold dead heart. On the other hand, the fact that he sends Dani to talk to Malcolm instead of just talking to Malcolm himself kind of pisses me off. Gil’s been really distant with Malcolm all season and it’s killing me. BUT I also kind of understand why Gil is passing off Malcolm to Dani (I don’t agree with it but I digress). All season the writers have been pushing the Brightwell relationship. We’ve seen a lot of really good meaningful conversations between Dani and Malcolm. At this point in time, it appears that Malcolm is willing to open up to Dani more than anyone else. Think about it. Even in season 1 - Malcolm never really opened up to Gil about his mental health. Gil knows that Malcolm won’t talk about his mental health with him - so he’s sending in the expert (Dani). I’m not happy about this but I kind of get it.
6:39 - OMG. Malcolm excitedly sliding into the room is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. <3
6:44 - “What are you guys talking about?” “You.” Exhibit A. If Malcolm had just responded with “what? why?” or Gil had followed up his statement with “we’re worried about you” we could’ve had a meaningful conversation about Malcolm’s mental health. Right. Here. BUT Malcolm knows why they’re talking about him. Malcolm is deflecting. He doesn’t want to talk about this with Gil. So he rolls his eyes and walks away. Gil shouldn’t have let Malcolm off the hook so easily. :(
7:36 - “There’s a special place in hell for people who hurt birds.” Ugh. I just want to hug this little cinnamon roll. <3
7:55 - “Where’d this murder board come from?”  hahahaha I love how JT’s constant mood is “I work with crazy people”.
8:07 - “You’re a web sleuth.” I love that JT somehow manages to get across that he thinks Edrisa is a complete weirdo but he respects the hell out of her. Also - the fact that JT teases the people he loves is so cute to me.
8:31 - “Ouf.” This was funny but it also felt a little ooc? Like wouldn’t Gil just cross his arms and say “Edrisa” as a gentle but stern warning?
8:53 - Does Edrisa have no filter or do people really think about sex this often? As an asexual, I’m genuinely asking.
8:55 - I love how uncomfortable Gil and JT get every time Edrisa starts talking about sex and/or reproductive anatomy. hahaha
9:37 - Did Martin ever kill animals? As a teenager maybe?
9:47 - “They have all the control over this cages, seemingly inferior creature.” ....is this supposed to be a subtle reference to the Martin/Capshaw thing? Capshaw being the killer and Martin being the inferior animal she’s controlling?
10:15 - Nope. I’m out. Can’t do it. So gross.
11:00 - “It’s super gross.” Malcolm is all of us.
11:08 - Soooo is Martin fantasizing about killing Capshaw after they do sexy things (hopefully consensual ones)?
11:52 - “Oh I’m already crazy.” This is somehow adorable and completely heart shattering. Malcolm is hiding his pain behind humour but he genuinely believes that he’s crazy. :(
12:00 - Is this the only conversation Malcolm and Edrisa have ever had without Edrisa hero-worshiping Malcolm?......I like it?!?! These two are total weirdos and should definitely be besties.
13:14 - Damn. Edrisa is shining in this episode. <3 <3
13:33 - “No. You won’t” hahaha JT being the team big brother is so cute.
13:46 - “You coming?” Malcolm is so soft here. <3 <3
14:00 - I love everything about this scene. I love how Dani opens up to Bright - even though it’s clearly still painful for her to talk about. I love how attentive and caring Malcolm is. I love how in character they both are. Malcolm is trying to deflect his problems. I love how Malcolm is 100% aware that Dani doesn’t believe his “I’m fine” bs. Dani is trying to get him to open up by sharing some of her own demons with him. Dani looks upset and worried that Malcolm won’t open up - but not surprised.
15:00 - “I pulled a Bright.” hahahaha OMG. I love that Dani and Malcolm don’t question this expression at all. It suggests that the team has used the phrase “pulling a Bright” before and I am here for it.
15:27 - This is what I call ‘passively suicidal’. Yes, Malcolm jumps in front of that car because he thinks it will help him solve the case. Yes, it’s technically an action motivated by the will to live. HOWEVER, he doesn’t move out of the way when Dani tells him to. That car is driving slowly. He doesn’t move. Because he’s in a mental state where he doesn’t care if he lives or dies. He has moments when he cares about life (like solving a case) but those just aren’t enough anymore. Yes, he looks a little alarmed when the car approaches him - but I honestly doubt Malcolm is frozen in fear.
15:56 - “You had the right of way. He can’t sue.” Holy shit. First of all - I immediately think Ashton is a douche. Secondly - is this how America works?!?! In Canada we teach our drivers that the ‘pedestrian always has the right of way’.
16:11 - “My super close friends from online.” Honestly - I feel called out. This is how I must sound when mention my internet friends to my family.
16:25 - Sooooo we’re all in agreement right? The fact that Malcolm has hit the left side of his head without medical treatment this many times = 1) mental breakdown sometime before the end of the season or 2) a way to get him out of taking the fall for Endicott.
16:38 - *sigh* can someone please hug this man!?!? He just can’t catch a break. This whole conversation between Malcolm and hallucination!Martin is heartbreaking. It shows that on some level even Malcolm knows he’s going to break soon because his mental health is in tatters.
17:23 - “She’s not like the others.” Who are the ‘others’? Are these the other people that Malcolm’s had a romantic interest in? Are ‘others’ friends from Malcolm’s past? Or are the others Gil, Edrisa, and JT?
17:34 - Ugh. Floppy haired. Bruised. Sad. My whump heart is so full.
17:56 - Does Malcolm not go on the internet? He didn’t know what a sock puppet is? (granted, I’m 24 and I didn’t know either).
18:04 - The firefighter’s name is BLAZE (Blaise)?!? Are you kidding me?
18:24 - “No. No, it isn’t.” Damn. JT is worried about Malcolm. Just look at him.
18:51 - Do I think it’s weird that this dude is so openly flirting with Edrisa in the middle of a police questioning?!? HELL YES. Do I think it’s weird that Edrisa’s allowed in the questioning??!!? HELL YES. Am I glad they’re giving Edrisa a love interest who isn’t Malcolm? OH HELL YES. ....also Edrisa and Blaze are kind of cute? Like they’re both weirdos and they’re both into each other so ...?!!?
19:47 - Wow. This whole “Killabustas police interrogation” scene is painfully hard to rewatch. Like - the dialogue makes absolutely no logical sense but it had to be there for the plot? Everything is just too convenient. The pamphlets. The fact that these members were all so quick to meet IRL. The fact that these dudes were able to track Alex down so quickly....I mean....who is buying this nonsense?!?!
20:05 - Ugh my asexual ass can’t handle the amount of horny people in this episode.
20:18 - Anyone else think it’s strange that Gil referred to Malcolm as “Bright” to Jessica?!? I mean, Jessica is Malcolm’s mother. PLUS it feels like Gil is trying to emotionally distance himself from Malcolm?!?
20:24 - “Remind me to take Malcolm out of my will.” hahahahaha OMG. I love Jessica so much.
20:44 - These Jessica/Gil scenes were a highlight of the episode for me. They’re just so cute. I love how supportive Gil is. I love how Jessica isn’t repressing her feelings with booze during this episode. I love how open about her insecurities Jessica is with Gil. I love how happy they both look. <3 <3 <3 <3
21:24 - “Some still do.” YES!!!! YES!!!! Keep flirting Gil!!! Don’t give up on her!!! <3 <3
21:45 - Holy shit. How much does Edrisa get paid?!?! This is a rich person apartment. I’m shook.
23:05 - Again. I must fast forward through the nasty romantic manipulation that is the Capshaw+Martin scene. The sexual tension made me nauseous the first time. But I WILL say that I think the black guard in this scene - Mr. Benjamin will be the dude Martin maims next episode (from the previews) - not Mr. David. Either that or the black patient in the room.
25:25 - “Watch out. I bite.” ........I have no words. My asexual ass is shocked, disgusted, and .....kind of proud of Edrisa for going after what she wants (even if she’s super crass about it).
26:03 - “That’s a seriously twisted mind.” “Sure. The kind I get.” This whole scene is heartbreaking. I honestly can’t tell if Malcolm is projecting himself, Ainsley, or both of them onto the suspect. “He killed for attention” - sounds like Ainsley to me. “Alex was going to out him to the group” ......HOLY SHIT. Does this mean Ainsley’s going to try and kill Malcolm and/or Jessica because she think’s they’ll rat her out?!?!?! “It’s about preserving the group. The Vulture needs them.” - That sounds like Malcolm to me. Malcolm doesn’t want to tell the team about Ainsley because he needs them and he’s scared they’ll abandon him if they find out about Ainsley.
27:10 - I’m getting secondhand embarrassment from the west coast of Canada.
27:21 - “Our killer would never order take out.” Weak, Malcolm. Weak excuse.
27:40 - annnnnndd this scene was a hard skip for me. I can’t watch Martin and Capshaw prepare to do sexy things. Nope. ALTHOUGH, I will say: Capshaw’s story about how she ended up in Claremont is interesting. Whether it’s true or not is debatable but it definitely shows that Capshaw is manipulative and creepy like Martin. I have a very strong feeling that Capshaw is a psychopath, serial killer, or sociopath.
31:00 - Edrisa checking out Malcolm’s loft is everything I dreamed it would be. The fact that she’s clearly in awe of his weapons collection. The fact that she has no regard for his privacy and just starts going through his fridge and sleeping area. The fact that she so openly comments and judges the stuff in his loft (ie. restraints on the bed, lack of food in the fridge). It’s perfect.
31:27 - “This is the fridge of a very sad person.” LMAO. I love this line so so so much. I love how Edrisa seems to be realizing for the first time just how broken Malcolm is. I love how sheepish Malcolm looks when she unintentionally calls him out. I love how amused Dani is by the whole situation. <3 <3
32:00 - annnndddd the Killabustas have taken over Malcolm’s loft. They don’t ask for permission to set up his TV. They don’t awkwardly hang out near the door until Malcolm invites them to ‘make themselves at home’ or any of the other common pleasantries us North Americans go through when we visit the homes of acquaintances. They walk right in and claim ownership. It’s kind of beautiful?
32:13 -......so did they already have Malcolm’s wifi password or am I expected to believe that they either a) have a mobile hotspot, b) are using data, c) web-sleuthed their way into hacking his wifi, or d) Malcolm had his wifi password written down somewhere super obvious inside the house?!?! This is honestly the most unrealistic thing about this episode. It’s 2021. The first time you visit a friend’s house you ask for their wifi password. It’s what you do.
33:28 - Ok. I like the kiss on the cheek. Very respectful. She clearly would’ve been down for more but he’s a gentleman and I respect the hell out of it.
33:48 - “I’m sorry Blaze is so jacked.” hahaha OMG Edrisa - Malcolm’s not romantically interested in you. He never has been. Read the room woman!
36:11 - Ashton is Malcolm in this scene. “I’ve been a freak my whole life. I had nothing until that bird video. Suddenly, I was a part of something.” == “I’ve been a freak my whole life. I had nothing until I joined the team. Suddenly, I was a part of something.”
36:38 - “Ashton, it won’t work. Family will only go so far. Because once they know the truth - who they’re really after - they’ll give up on you. And no more family.” Ouch. This hurts. Malcolm genuinely believes that Gil, Dani, JT, and Edrisa are going to abandon him the second they find out what he did for Ainsley. Malcolm thinks they’re going to hate him. Malcolm thinks they’re going to think he’s like Martin - a criminal. A killer. Look at how broken Malcolm looks and sounds here. It’s not just that Malcolm thinks he’s going to be abandoned. It’s that he thinks he deserves to be abandoned. He thinks he’s a monster.
37:02 - EDRISA!!! DAMN. I love this badass. <3 <3 So proud of the girl who literally had a panic attack in 1x15 when she had to save a that ‘almost-victim’ by injecting alcohol into him.
38:05 - My heart is so full. This is honestly one of my top 10 moments of Prodigal Son to date. I love that we see Gil’s new car. I love that he’s working on his car in a police mechanic shop. I love this little glimpse into Gil’s personal life  - the man who likes fixing up old cars with a cold beer while listening to 80s music in an boombox from the 80s. <3 I love the absolute adorableness that is Jessica and Gil awkwardly flirting.
I love that Jessica - the rich socialite - holds Gil’s wrench without question. Even though she looks a little confused. I love that Jessica comes to Gil this time. He’s been instigating the flirting most of this season. It looks like Jessica’s finally ready to be an equal partner in the relationship.
I love that Jessica - the rich socialite - takes a drink of Gil’s working-class beer with a smile. His social class isn’t beneath her. She doesn’t care about how rich he is - just about the purity of his intentions and the depth of his devotion to her family.
39:00 - “Oh I remember her. How fiercely she protected her kids.” I LOVE THIS. I love that Gil is attracted to Jessica’s devotion as a mother. I love that the fact that she had children with another man (a serial killer) doesn’t bother him. He loves how fierce, independent, and strong she is and that’s absolutely gorgeous.
I love who wholesome their romantic moment is. Unlike Edrisa and Martin’s live scenes - it’s not fast, heavy, and physical. It’s slow, gentle, and emotional. Gil and Jessica dance like an old married couple when the song they danced to at their wedding comes on the radio.
I love the setting of the scene. How they’re dancing in a dirty mechanic’s shop. Jessica is dressed like the rich woman she is and Gil is wearing a plaid shirt rolled up to his elbows. The contrast is striking and beautiful. I love that Jessica isn’t trying to make Gil fit into her social status. She’s not dragging him to rich people galas and forcing him to dress or act like someone he’s not (although he would so do that for her). She’s hanging out with Gil on his turf and she’s delighted about it. <3
40:08 - “Do you think you can ever really know someone?” Isn’t this what Malcolm said to Gil in 1x17 as the whole Endicott thing was boiling? You know - a few episodes before the team arrests Malcolm in his loft when he’s in the middle of a mental crisis?!? Is this foreshadowing for the next mental health breakdown?!? (Hopefully a fully mental health breakdown this time?!?!)
40:18 - “Masquarading as someone he wasn’t” Yikes. Malcolm truly believes he’s lying to the team just because he’s not acting like a monster. Malcolm has truly convinced himself that he is his father’s son.
40:45 - I don’t even care how you feel about Brightwell. The fact that Dani is the only person this whole season who has told Malcolm that he’s not a monster makes her the greatest friend he could ever ask for.
40:51 - “Ever since Nicholas died.” ....well Dani isn’t a moron so if she didn’t connect the dots before she will now. If we don’t get an intervention next episode I’m going to throw hands.
40:57 - Why. Does. Martin. Have. To. Ruin. Every. Chance. Malcolm. Gets. To. Begin. To. Heal?!?!
41:16 - “ooooohhhh here comes the kiss” .....honestly though. Martin is every Brightwell shipper.
41:20 - I respect the hell out of Malcolm for shutting Dani down like this. Yes - he absolutely should’ve come clean with her. HOWEVER, he clearly isn’t ready to share this burden and the fact that he shut down the progress of any romantic relationship is really good. Because Dani would be SO MAD if they started dating while he was actively lying to her. It would be the end of their friendship. Forget your Brightwell ship - they wouldn’t even be friends.
41:40 - “Why are you ruining this!?” Dani had to have heard this. Even if she didn’t....Malcolm was pretty obviously glancing over her shoulder at hallucination!Martin before she left. There’s no way Dani - a detective - won’t be able to figure out that Malcolm is hallucinating. I WANT A MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTION. NEXT EPISODE. I’M MANIFESTING IT INTO EXISTANCE. EVEN THOUGH I DON’T TRUST FEDAK TO GIVE IT TO ME. I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO HUG MALCOLM.
42:06 - Honestly thought Capshaw was going to beat the crap out of Friar Pete here. This woman is unstable. Mark my words. She’s going to kill someone (if she hasn’t already).
I know I kind of shat on this episode a bit but I honestly really liked it? I loved the character development it gave us. Even if the plot was pretty subpar.
Thanks for hanging out. See you next week. <3 :)

Hyena Ep 14
- Gihyeok ratted out Heejae and Geumja so that he could take over the Ha Chanho case, and now he’s feeling guilty about it. This makes complete sense, except I would’ve expected more shifty behaviour for Gihyeok. Gihyeok has always been fiercely loyal to Heejae, so why would he betray him at his greatest time of need? That being said, Heejae just wanted an apology, and he let the matter go afterwards. So I think he understands that Gihyeok is really just Piljung’s pawn. Heejae knows that Piljung would get rid of him and Geumja with or without Gihyeok, and that Piljung probably took advantage of Gihyeok’s ambitions and weaknesses.
- There was no tension between Gihyeok and Heejae, but there was some tension between Gihyeok and Geumja, which made Gihyeok defensive over his role as the leader of the case. I think Heejae was more aware of the office politics, whereas Geumja just wanted to solve the case, and Gihyeok was in the way of it.
- Just as Geumja predicted, Gihyeok jumped to conclusions after learning of Jeonghwa and Junho’s affair. He wasn’t even considering any other routes, probably because he just didn’t know how to go about getting the truth. He is good at gathering information via his large social network, but he doesn’t necessarily know what that information means, whereas Geumja and Heejae are a lot smarter about connecting the dots.
- Considering this was a legal drama and not a police drama, I would not have expected there to have been this much actual sleuthing. I know that the show has to be exciting, so the writers are never going to write the case like an actual case. I just don’t really think it’s the lawyer’s job to find the actual culprit, instead, I thought it would make more sense to have some semblance of the truth, but to be muddy on the details until they find more and more evidence. Does that make sense? Basically, I think these lawyers are doing to much, but I will suspend disbelief because this is entertainment.
- Hyeona “confessed” to Heejae, saying that she would always help him. That being said, I’m not sure that what she feels for him is necessarily romantic. I can see her just really admiring Heejae. In any case, she hasn’t expressed any want of a personal relationship. Maybe it’s because they’re lawyers and professionals, or maybe it’s because she doesn’t feel romantic affection for him.
- I am interested in Heejae defending his dad, I just wasn’t moved by the motivational speech. I think mentioned this in another post, but I was curious about Heejae’s relationship with his own family. He as the younger of two brothers, effectively making him the baby of the family, which may be hard to believe considering he puts on a big strong man persona for his job. Anyway, I didn’t find Heejae’s speech moving because he was lecturing his dad, which, yeah, his dad did a lot of questionable things, but I find it difficult to believe that Heejae would talk to his dad in that tone (his lawyer tone). I wouldn’t even be surprised if Heejae resented his dad, I just always felt that he wouldn’t scream like that in front of his dad unless their conversation escalated that way, whereas Heejae just kind of jumped into the threatrics very early on.
- I quite liked that scene when Heejae and Geumja had to pack up and leave Song & Kim. Specifically, I liked that part when Heejae’s fingers were kind of shaking as he held onto his box and Geumja held on for a moment. It was very uwu. It’s just that Heejae’s life is turning upside down. He’s always gotten a lot of hand holding (figuratively), being from a long family of judges and probably being expected to become a judge. Even though he didn’t become a judge, he got his lawyer job through the connections his dad had with Song & Kim, and Piljung has been protecting him for a while now. This is the first time he is actually on his own, and I think Geumja recognizes that this is a whole new world for him. Geumja has always been on her own, so this is nothing new.
- So we find out that Piljung and his wife actually don’t have a good relationship. Piljung would visit his wife regularly, so it was easy to assume that they were in a loving relationship. But knowing what we know now, perhaps it was just in his interest to keep his wife alive so that he would still have some sort of claim in the law firm.
- While Kim Minjoo isn’t technically on Geumja and Heejae’s side, she is the enemy of their enemy. I've been expecting Minjoo to eventually help Geumja and Heejae in one way or another. Perhaps it’s just to take down Piljung, but we don’t know what she has that can take him down. Perhaps it’s just to rile him up by attacking his background but I don’t know, it feels a bit generic. Kind of wish Minjoo would have more to bring to the table other than just knowing Piljung’s dark history.
- So Chunguk got fired because he was asking too many questions and Ijun voluntarily resigned out of solidarity so that all of them would join Choong. Isn’t that cute though?
- I don’t like that Chanho is now turning into a sympathetic guy who’s been framed for murder. In the cases before, Heejae and Geumja were never confused about the fact that their clients were scumbags. They were just winning the case for themselves, but they still needed to keep their clients in check because they knew without a doubt that they were scumbags. I don’t like that Chanho is now being woobified. He nearly killed Jeonghwa before already. Just because Chanho didn’t kill Jeonghwa doesn’t mean he deserves only good things. So I’m iffy about how Heejae and Geumja approached Chanho at the end of the episode being like “we’ll rescue you, just say the word.” Iunno they just seemed way too sympathetic for a guy that didn’t deserve it.
- The last scene was fun, not gonna lie. Actually, when the squad went into the courtroom, I did see Juho in the back row, so I guess Juho is now no longer a secret investigator, and is formally a part of the Choong team, which makes sense considering Geumja is the boss of Choong. Anyway, like I said, that last scene with the team ready to take on the world was fun and hype, even if we didn’t have Gihyeok or Hyeona. Gihyeok is probably dealing with some things (i.e. thinking about what to do about his job), and my guess is that Hyeona is staying at Song & Kim to be Heejae’s eyes and ears.

You know nothing, Jon Snow
It's been a short night and a hot summer day in here. But I just received the last of the goods in my secondary inbox and am still unpacking, pondering and putting the data into context.
Work with me:
To begin somewhere, this is the exact content of the (in)famous Shamrock Anon submission to this blog, as delivered almost 23 hours ago:
Tumblr media
Put yourselves in my shoes and read with me: "the Irish based drinks company (not the one accessible to fans) is solely owned by him and DF".
An Irish company? "Not accessible to fans?" Owned only by these two people and not her, on her turf? Now that could have been a nuke, because hello, where is the logic in all this, and who does that, and yes, why?
By the time I wrote my brief Shamrock Anon post, in the hope of luring this person to share more, the same message had already been delivered to at least two other shipper blogs. That would make three of us: the controversial newbie (I am not blind, but I am not cantankerous either), the respected veteran sleuth and Super Dispatch, with what I believe to be the intent of pushing an agenda of sorts. I chose not to publish Anon, because: 1) I needed more and yes, I needed to check and 2) I felt there was something bizarre with all this.
@luhafraser published it and I am truly relieved they did. I posted an update that apparently got even more people confused, and carried on with it. It did not take off the pressure (Anons begging, pleading and taunting went straight to the bin), but it gave me time to start looking.
It took me exactly two minutes and a half to find the Irish company's name and registration number, as visible and published on the FMN gin webpage (https://www.forgetmenot.com/ and always, always read the small print).
So long for "not accessible to fans", BS Anon:
Tumblr media
Next stop, the Irish Company Registration Office's website (https://core.cro.ie/), where things went impeccably smooth. FMN Drinks is an Irish company, registered as "Limited", which would translate as Public Limited Company (plc) in the UK:
Tumblr media
Getting more data required a paid search and I stopped to ponder. Really did. Price was a trifle, but that was not really my problem. So I sat on it during the night: it is something I always do when I find myself uneasy or unsure about something.
By noon today, local time, I mumbled "oh, what the hell", crossed myself and pushed send:
Tumblr media
It took 15 minutes to get five of the documents and two more hours and 45 minutes to get the Letter of Status, certified by a living, breathing Irish public servant in that inbox:
Tumblr media
So (in)famous Shamrock Anon, here is my answer to you:
If you think a company specialized in the distilling and rectifying of spirits, with 100 (one hundred) issued shares, worth 1 euro each and with a zero euro declared account balance since last December is proof of capitalist world domination, you are an idiot, Anon. You lured me down that rabbit hole with the preposterous idea that C was not a part of this PO box company - which she is, as one of its four appointed Directors - to try and prove shippers are stupid. Which we aren't.
At face value, this is nothing to write home about. But I said yesterday the devil is in the details and was not disappointed, because you clearly are sloppy (again?) Anon and boy, you do have an untrained eye. It's almost like me when prompted to read somebody's blood test results, you know?
I am now faced with a dilemma: I either buy a cork board, thread and pins and start a trip to Cuckooland, trying to navigate my way across trademarks and trails of companies, and such other niceties that are boring as death. Or, I look at this completely uncalled for embarrassment of riches and let the dots connect themselves, in time.
I always steered my course according to this French proverb: dans le doute, s'abstenir. When in doubt, do nothing. Making sense of a document posted on a real estate company website is one thing. Publishing such documents, which are readily available for the private use of anyone with a credit card, and prematurely discussing them is a personal red line I am not willing to cross.
It would be pushing an agenda and, especially right now (*promo*), writing the script. Circus might be in town, but I am not one of the clowns.
Oh, and Anon: a company is an evolving entity people get into, then get out of and even maybe get back to, at some point in time. A business project is by no means any sort of evidence of relationship/marital status.

Submitted Prompt: "Popularly Petty"
One of the networks airs a puff piece where they ask people on the street who their favorite heroes among 'Team Miraculous' are.  Ladybug naturally gets the bulk of the votes, and Chat comes in at a comfortable second.  Other heroes have their fans as well, though Queen Bee doesn't place as highly as Chloe would have liked, and she complains a bit about this to her classmates.  Dismissing the whole thing as a ridiculous waste of time, claiming that their sample size was bad and they should feel bad.
...She's not the only one who's unhappy with the results.  Adrien's discontent stems more from certain comments made by some of the interviewees; a recurring refrain was that they preferred Ladybug over Chat Noir because they perceived the latter as less professional.  Noting how he didn't seem to take things as seriously, joking around far more than she did.  As one put it, cat puns never saved the day.
Now, all of this is presented in rather lighthearted fashion, rather than serious, hard-hitting critique.  Filling time on an otherwise slow news day.  Nothing more than that.  Certainly nobody involved expected it to have any kind of consequences.
However... not long after the piece airs, there's another akuma attack.  By sheer chance, Adrien recognizes one of the bystanders as one of his critics, and when Ladybug heads off to retrieve one of the temporary heroes and he's left to hold the line... well.  He opts not to fight too hard.
What's more, since Ladybug isn't there, he can't resist making a quip about it.  Taunting the victim about how they should be more careful what they say, especially when they're being televised.
Unfortunately for him, somebody catches his quip on their phone's camera.  The clip quickly goes viral, especially after some internet sleuths connect the dots - the footage captures who he's talking to, and once the victim is recognized from that interview... whoo boy.  Suddenly that little puff piece is getting a LOT more air time and traction, and Chat's popularity takes a severe nosedive.  People naturally wonder: was that moment of pettiness an outlier, or a sign of something far worse lurking beneath the surface...?
[I'll add the links in later my laptop is being dumb]

Preference: What Strange Being Are They?
Characters: Jaskier, Honey Lemon, Benoit Blanc, Finn, Geralt
Tumblr media
Jaskier - Spring Court Fae
Tumblr media
Fae of the Spring Court (or the Seelie, as they are more formally called) are known for being one of the two more benevolent classes of fae. Generally polite and bright-eyed with a love for what the world has to offer, they typically come equipped with a twinge of mischief when it comes to interacting with humans. Otherwise, they just leave them be.
But Jaskier loved humans just a bit too much to keep proper distance.
While Solitary Fairies weren’t unheard of, it was extremely unusual to hear of a fae abandoning their court in favor of wandering around without any particular allegiance.
So it might’ve ruffled a few wings when the local fairy viscount and viscontess’ son decided to up and leave to “travel the world”, armed only with his admittedly limited magicks and a lute. But Jaskier didn’t care: All he wanted at this point was to be up close with humans, to entertain them, to have their eyes on him, for them to be ensorcelled by him . . . Perhaps even enough to copulate with him.
Because make no mistake: Benevolent or not, a fair folk is still a fair folk. And the fae have never been the type to shy away from mischief. Which was probably why you knew you were in trouble the moment those blue eyes landed on you . . .
Tumblr media
Honey Lemon - Witch
Tumblr media
While witches need no introduction, there is still a certain . . . aesthetic, we shall say, that tends to go along with the image. Because for as black sunhat-wearing and crystal-collecting as the image has become in more recent years, no one could deny the traditional associations: Cottages that looked cobbled together, nestled deep within gnarly woods; cauldrons bubbling over with green concoctions; battered grimoires and parchment strewn about and stacked haphazardly along stale, wooden shelves; figures cloaked in black enigma, hidden away from the prying eyes of society.
Nobody tends to think of a small apartment in the shadier side of town; Bunsen burner sets heating away at beakers of bubblegum-pink, perfume-y something-or-other; spells and brews written on flowery stationary, filed away neatly in polka-dot binders and Hello Kitty folders and assembled on a shelf ordered from IKEA; and an energized young lady with long, blonde hair that paled in comparison to the bright, glorious smile she wore.
Suffice to say, Honey Lemon is not the traditional image of a witch. But this never stopped the rumors from floating around the city, onto college campuses filled with students eager and desperate.
“If you go to 1234 Blahblahblah with a roll of cute washi tape or stickers, a witch there will give you a potion to help you pass your exams,” they said. Which was ridiculous, of course: It was just another local legend started by grad students, passed down to undergrads desperate enough to believe anything.
And, unfortunately for you, you were an undergrad desperate enough to believe anything . . .
Tumblr media
Benoit Blanc - Dhampir
Tumblr media
The occurrence of a successful pregnancy between a vampire and a human was not a particularly common one. That the progeny might grow up to be anything other than a vampire hunter or even something of a bon vivant was rarer still. And given that he was blond with piercingly blue eyes -- rather than the usual deep brunette and brown-eyed package -- it was fairly apparent that Benoit was a somewhat unusual example of dhampir. Nor that he much cared.
He was far too old to care in his personal opinion. Besides: He’d learned long, long, long ago to stop worrying so much about his oddities (it saves time), especially given that some evidence of his more vampiric lineage never quite took. For example, while his senses of sight, smell, and even hearing to a point managed to be more heightened than that of his human kin, his speed and strength just barely stood out as being any better than the average man’s. Nor did his agility, for that matter.
But he was more than happy to take what skills and knowledge he did have and put them to good use elsewhere: Eagle eyes for scanning and noticing the teeny, tiny details; a good sense of smell, which could be far more useful than one might think when observing certain crime scenes; and an assemblage of knowledge and experiences collected from over the last three centuries. They didn’t make much for a hunter of the unnatural without the strength and speed, but they suited detective work just fine.
All topped with a bow of wit and charm, aged like wines he’d outlived, and Benoit Blanc appeared to be a man just ever so slightly out of sync with the modern era. Not concernedly so, but just enough for him to eventually earn the title of “The Last of the Gentleman Sleuths” during one of the very, very few times he allowed his presence to be more widely known to the public.
It was his diction, his style of dress, and the overall air he exuded, really -- it might not have been intoxicating in the same way that a full-blooded vampire might draw in company, but he did, without a doubt, possess some draw to him.
Well, at least he did to you . . .
Tumblr media
Finn - Alien
Tumblr media
In a galaxy far, far away . . . FN2187 was just another extraterrestrial living amongst the stars. In the middle of a war. A war he wanted nothing to do with, but was dragged into anyway. Admittedly, he didn’t have any real stance on the matter. After all, as a soldier, was he really supposed to? Well, regardless, he eventually got one: He didn’t like it. At all. What was this all even for? Liberation? Conquest? Just to prove a point? It didn’t matter: The horrors had become etched into his brain, the burden of his connection to it all too much for even his hearts, multiple as they were, to bear.
And so he escaped, stealing a ship and flying off into the big, black unknown.
However, that FN2187 was not a particularly skilled pilot. In fact, he wasn’t trained to be a pilot at all! It was an honest to The Maker miracle that he’d managed to even get as far as he did, even if it ended in him crashing the stolen craft.
Unfortunately, crashes of any kind have never been subtle events, no matter how low of a profile the alien might’ve wanted it to have been. Authorities had been alerted, and it was only a matter of time before he was discovered by either his own officers, or these...Terranian ones. He knew he could handle the latter, but why take the risk?
Besides, he was already lucky enough to have you be the first to find him (lucky him, crashing in the patch of trees nearby your house). You, on the other hand . . . You wouldn’t consider yourself unlucky, per se. But you did consider yourself in a jam. After all, there was no handy dandy manual for how to keep the alien you’ve taken home under wraps . . .
Tumblr media
Geralt - Faoladh
Tumblr media
There are werewolves, and then there are the Faoladh. A werewolf is a beast that turns from man to monster on every full moon, more often than not devolving into a fit of heightened savagery in the process. The ire from this is consequential.
The Faoladh, however, are nearly the exact opposite.
Rather than wait for a moon phase to dictate their form, they can simply change as they like, so long as they’re equipped with the wolf pelt that gives them beastly form. As a result, they retain their humanity and reason, which has served them well in legends, where people have called them heroes of war, recruited by the king. Some even designate them patronage over children, the wounded, and lost souls.
However, it is perhaps because of their rarity that their name had fallen from most memories, their notable benevolence along with it. Because how could something so large, so brutal, and so terrifyingly dangerous be capable of goodness and protection? Though, for the remaining few that knew otherwise, there were still some good wolves out there.
And the village insisted that it was lucky to have one of them wandering around in its history. You, of course, had some doubts . . .

When You're In The Pocket
Tumblr media
(Image: https://shaylaraquel.com/blog/gsk )
I have been reading through Michelle McNamara's blog, True Crime Diary. Around 3 am, I found this gem in a blog titled, Criminally Underreported (Date Published 12.09.07):
"An important part of True Crime Diary’s mission is to care for neglected cases by reexamining them and making them known."
McNamara speaks to the media driving interests by availability, while allowing other cases to go unsolved because the public simply did not know about the story. This seems to drive her selection of cases discussed. And what a rich layering of discussion it is.

This appreciation of underreported cases brings an open, earnest examination of possibilities. Some, we now know, were not true connections. For a true appreciation of McNamara's style, check out another blog entry Date Published 03.17.08 titled, Evolution Of A Story, blog #129:
One of the ways I find stories to write about is by using Google Alerts. I put in key words like “homicide” and “missing,” for example, and Google sends me news stories that relate to those topics. Some stories I delete immediately for lack of interest, or because the case takes place too far away, like Australia, and I don’t think I can add much to it.
Other stories I file away for later; they glimmer with the promise of something intriguing, and I save them for when I have time to dig deeper.
The other day I decided to revisit a brief and cryptic story that appeared on February 26 out of Missouri. I'm glad I did. Pulling on the strand of available but sparse information unraveled a darker, much more complicated story, one that hints at a most unusual serial killer.
The article describes the exhumation of a 47-year-old Missouri man who died in 1992. The man's death was unremarkable at the time, and no autopsy was done. But now the FBI is reexamining his death. The article says the FBI is also looking into at least two other deaths in Utah that might be related.
Another story about the exhumation was similarly vague, but had a more provocative title: "Could Missouri autopsy lead to serial killer with Utah ties?"
The FBI was being tight-lipped, but I knew I could probably connect some dots through online research. It's exciting when you know only certain facts about a breaking case and then go digging, uncovering small, seemingly innocuous details --- a message left on a memorial guestbook, or an announcement about a job change --- that you arrange to reveal an incomplete, but ominous, picture. The most mundane fragments of everyday life can take on new meaning.
That's what happened when I went digging in this case. I won't name names --- the official investigation is still ongoing and has been characterized to me as “sensitive” --- but because I plan on writing about the case again in the future, I’ll share some of what I discovered.
The first thing I did was look up public records related to the exhumed man. I quickly found the name of his wife at the time of his death. I’ll call her Alice.
I noticed Alice has used at least three last names, suggesting several marriages. I looked up her known addresses, and found that sometime after her husband’s death in Missouri she moved to another state: Utah. The focus of the investigation became clearer.
Alice was definitely living in Utah by 1999. A brief announcement in The Enterprise, a business journal based in Salt Lake City, reported in June, 1999 that Alice had been appointed executive director of a local chamber of commerce. The announcement listed her last name as something other than the exhumed husband's, and mentioned that Alice had been a former member of an Iowa chamber of commerce.
Using the last name listed in The Enterprise and the town in Iowa mentioned, I found a listing for a man who is roughly the same age as Alice. Records indicate Alice and the man are related or associated in some way; because she had his last name, I’m assuming it was by marriage. I couldn’t find an obituary for the man, so I’m not sure if he’s still alive.
So it appears that between her husband's death in Missouri in 1992 and her subsequent move to Utah, Alice was married, likely for the second time, in Iowa.
But by 1999 she was in Utah. That year she married a man I’ll call Randall.
An online search of Randall’s name reveals him to be a much beloved man in his 60s who lives about an hour and a half from Salt Lake City. A young boy lists Randall as his inspiration, because, despite Randall’s mechanical heart and amputated leg, he “always lives life to the fullest and makes everything fun and exciting.”
Randall was born in 1943 and served in Vietnam. He had six children with his first wife, and worked for many years as an industrial engineer. In 1976, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1999, he married Alice.
In 2003 Randall had a heart attack, and was given a Left Ventricular Assist Device. He was a popular figure in his neighborhood, telling everyone about his miracle heart and passing out candy to the children.
I know this because it’s in his obituary. Randall died, “quietly at his home,” on January 4, 2007.
Three weeks later, Alice’s father died. He was 82, and his death doesn't appear at all suspicious. But his obituary does help fill in some blanks about Alice's early years. Her father was in the United States Air Force during WWII, and then settled in the small town in northeastern Missouri where he grew up. He and his wife had Alice and a son, who appears to have died during adulthood. Alice’s father owned and operated a garage in town for nearly forty years.
Alice gave the eulogy at his funeral.
At this point I’m getting a clearer picture of Alice. The leadership role at the chamber of commerce and giving the eulogy suggest a confident, possibly even extroverted woman. I know she had four children and at least two, possibly three, husbands. It appears that later in life she became a Mormon.
I’m assuming the FBI is investigating the first husband’s death in Missouri, and Randall’s, but I don’t know about the third one. It could be the second husband, or some other associate of Alice’s.
Her children appear to be well-adjusted --- married, thriving in various careers, athletic and bright. I study a picture of a sweet, smiling, white-haired older woman holding a child on Alice’s son’s blog. She is attractive and appears in good shape for her age. The accompanying text describes a visit from “Grandma.” The wife in the family refers to her own mother in other pictures, so it's likely this is the husband's mother. This is Alice. She hugs the toddler, looking like a kindly Mormon grandmother. She looks nothing like a serial killer.
But a hint of tension exists. Alice’s son’s wife has posted a photo album of the family's Christmas vacation in Utah. Her sister-in-law, Alice’s daughter, leaves a terse message: “Where are the pictures of (husband's name) side of the family?” There’s no answer.
Two out of Alice’s four children are in medical-related fields, including respiratory therapy and sleep studies. I don’t know why that unnerves me, but it does.
I track down someone who knew the family in Missouri when the first husband died. She tells me his death was a total shock. He was “the kindest man you could ever meet.”
Alice told everyone it was a heart attack and chose not to have an autopsy done.
People always thought that was odd, the source says.

Tenacious, oh, yes. It took a while of digging, but I was able to find the story eluded to in the blog entry. You really get an idea of her excitement level and her thought process. McNamara was home here.

Requested Imagine: “Agents of shield x reader where the reader went with Bobbi and the rest of the agents to the safe house to try and take Skye back to HQ and when Skye quakes the bullet away they all fly back; maybe the reader’s leg gets impaled by part of a tree?”
You felt the pain, but you also felt hazy. To you, the world was like a blur, with dark spots dotting around your vision as the sound seemed to be muffled. The main thing you registered was strong arms pulling you back.
You were then placed down on the harsh and cold floor of the Quinjet, as you were you saw something come into your vision; blinking, you saw it was none other than Bobbi Morse.
You had seen the woman worried before, hell you all were going in when you went to get Skye; but now that concern had been paled to you as you were sure you didn’t look the best.
“Y/N? I need you to focus, keep your eyes on me and keep them open.” Was all she asked.
You did your best to oblige and give her into her demand.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grant Ward was someone you had once called a best friend. However, when you met Skye, he had competition about the best friend name. You knew you could have more than one, but this was the position of top best friend.
After Grant Ward betrayed you all, that spot went to Skye in a heartbeat. Despite that, his betrayal had hurt you both more than anyone else.
If anything, it had made you look out for the girl more. Now, you had no ill will towards her old partner, Miles. But…Ward was another thing.
“What is it with you and your choice in men?” You asked, not in a hurting manner; but you still had to ask.
“I’ll get back to you on that,” She said with a small chuckle, “But, if it helps, I’ve changed that…or am trying to,” She thought about her next words; but ultimately decided to say them, “I appreciate this Y/N, really I do. I love you for it….but, my choices are my choices. I just need you to do something for me,” You nodded, “Let me make them, just have my back if they backfire, ok?”
You got the want, “You’d do the same for me,” but you still made that argument, “I’m just trying to look out for you.”
Skye looked like she wanted to say something, but ultimately just nodded; knowing that the oncoming fight would be a pointless one.
She knew you would, with how you offered to go instead of Simmons to the HYDRA base, pretty much begging Coulson to let you go.
He, however, denied you; reasoning it as pointless revenge for what had happened to your father. Skye knew he had hit a spot with those words; she had seen the hurt in your eyes and the way his one softened to your figure.
Your father had been killed by HYDRA during the takeover. He knew it wouldn’t heal over night; but he also saw how it made you around the team; even more protective and willing to do anything to help them with their own issues.
Simmons was outed, and Skye wanted to save her friend. You wanted too as well; however, you kept your eye on your best friend to assess what her next move was going to be. She looked to you in a pleading fashion.
May would not let her go, but she knew you would back her up with her choice, “Skye.” You said, trying to make her reassess her options.
“Look, Y/N, Simmons has been outed...I know May said there’s a plan; but I need one of my own. I could meet my father, Y/N….I need to check.” She argued to you. You sighed, but softened a little and nodded, knowing it would be wrong to try and keep her from at least trying.
“Ok.” Was all you said.
You both held up flashlights as Skye led you down the alleyway, your lights showed you a number, “450”; then you moved your lights to another door, “451” you both drew your weapons as you slowly approached it.
Skye went on one side, you on the other; she looked at you and you both silently counted to three before opening the door and sweeping the area together.
It was empty, at least for now anyway. There was nothing but your own tense breathing and blue lights that lit up the area. It was run down, very run down by the looks of things.
“Hello?” Skye called out.
“Oh yeah, let’s just announce herself.” You whispered to your friend.
“Shh!” She reprimanded you as you both continued towards a slightly opened door, “Anyone here? You wanted to meet. Well, here I am.” She said you both got closer and closer to the door.
You were there, you were at the door. You and Skye both shared a look, but you took a step back as you let her count herself down before kicking the door in. She went in first, then you followed her. You both checked for anything; only to find nothing instead.
“Where did you go?” Skye asked out loud. You both holstered your weapons as you continued looking around. Instead of being in action mode, now it was sleuthing mode.
However, it didn’t take long for Skye’s flashlight to go over something that made her call out your name. You turned to your friend, before following where her flashlight was pointing; it was pointing to a picture on the floor of a man holding a child.
She picked it up and looked at it, with you looking at it too over her shoulder. The man looked so innocent, as did the child in the picture.
A hand on your shoulder spun you around, with Skye turning with you in case it was a threat. It wasn’t, it was only Coulson.
He looked from the picture to you both, “So he was here?” He asked.
Unshed tears appeared in Skye’s eyes, “Yeah,” She said softly, her voice slightly cracking as she said the words, “I just wanted a glimpse.” She knew that she wasn’t in any real trouble; neither of you were, but she still felt that she needed to try and justify why you had come along with her.
“You’re having one hell of a day, huh?” He asked in a sympathetic tone. The tone made some tears fall as the two shared a hug. Coulson looked to you over Skye’s shoulder, he held out an arm for you as well. You quickly filled that with your own body.
Skye was in the middle of a hug that told her that she wasn’t alone on this, “We’ll find him.” He told her.
“We’ve got you.” You added as you tightened your hold on the two, “We’ll find him, Skye. We’ve got your back all the way.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jemma was home, you had ran and hugged your friend instantly and tightly; she returned the hug, having missed these a lot.
“Bobbi?” You asked, pulling back from Jemma; you old friend chuckled a bit as she was ready for your hug. You jumped and tackled her into said hug.
“Hey, Y/nn.” She greeted as she pulled away first.
“You saved Jemma?” You asked, despite already knowing the answer.
“She was sent in to be a lookout for me, I wouldn’t have made it without her.” Jemma told you; you, however, just looked between them both happily. Now you had your new friends and your old ones.
“Still running around fixing other people’s problems I see.” Bobbi noted, you looked between the two; as if accusing Jemma of having talked. Bobbi quickly continued, “I’d like to say I knew you, but I know you, Y/nn….I’m just glad you’re alive.”
You knew that there was something in her words; not malice….but something. You, however, looked past it in your elation at seeing both of your friends safe and sound, “You too, Bobbi.”
Ward was going to be moved, his brother was gong to pick him up. Coulson, knowing it before you would ask, let you go with Skye to talk to Ward.
“Y/N, long time no see.” Ward greeted, smile more disturbing than you’d let on.
“You only speak to them if spoken to; you speak to them out of line or break that rule, and I will walk, just like last time.” She threatened him with a mostly apathetic voice, but you heard the anger that boiled under the surface.
“Which one?” He asked.
“Your older brother, the Senator.” Skye clarified for him.
“Christian. Why? What happened?” He asked as he ran a hand down his face as if he’d been through this before.
“We just need basic information: Habits, places he frequently visits, stuff like that.” She listed off for him.
“He’s not what he seems. He always has an angle. And if he thinks that you can lead him to me…” He said in slight fear of his brother.
“Says the man that had another angle the whole time I knew him for.” You said, letting your own hurt of his betrayal being known.
“This isn’t about you.” Skye said, wanting to get Ward back on track.
“Isn’t it? Don’t you remember what happened at the well, what he made me do? He gets joy from one thing. Hurting people.” For a moment, it looked like Skye as going along with it; so, you kept an extra eye on him, “So tell me, please, does he know I’m here? He asked one more time.
“Not how it works, Ward. You answer our questions, remember?” She said that moment being forgotten.
“And I always do. I always tell you the truth. But if Christian knows that I’m here –” Skye cut him off.
“You always tell me the truth?”
“Yes.” Skye scoffed at his answer, “I promised you I’d never lie to you. And I haven’t.” He said; the next moment however, he seemed to change tactics, “What’s this really about?”
“I need information about your brother: People, connections –”
“Is this about your father? Because I wasn’t lying about him. He’s alive, and he’s –”
“A monster.” You spoke up, not allowing him to talk in a manipulative way to your friend, again.
“You forgot to mention that detail.” Skye said, in a quieter voice.
“You found him.” Ward said, as if proud of himself.
The next moment, the screen appeared over his cell, you both turning back to see Coulson looking at you both with an unreadable expression.
Coulson told you both that Ward had, in fact, given you something; before berating you both for slipping off track.
As he walked away, Skye looked to you, “I’m sorry that I –”
“No, no. Not your fault. If my old man was still here, I’d probably do the same in your shoes.”
The next time you saw Grant Ward, he was being led by the guards; yourself and Jemma stood in front of Skye in a protective manner. As he passed you, he looked to Skye, “If I ever see you again, I’ll kill you.” Jemma threatened.
Grant then looked to you, softening slightly at your years of friendship, “See you in hell, asshole.” Was all you said.
Bobbi had returned later, finding you saw in the main lounge, drinking a drink late at night. She looked at the sight a little fondly, remembering to when you would do that with your father.
Then she remembered what had happened to him.
She entered, taking a seat next to you and just watching you for a few moments before she spoke, “Heard you and Skye spoke to Ward today.” She said, testing the waters.
“Yeah, went great.” You drank a large gulp as you responded.
Bobbi took a moment, thinking about whether or not she should say her next words; however, she eventually went with them, “You know his death wasn’t your fault, right?” the words were blunt; the words were harsh; the words were the last thing you wanted to hear.
You slammed your bottle onto the table as you stood up, pushing yourself up and moving to the other side of the table, putting your hands on your hip as you paced a little before looking at your friend with misty eyes.
“Then whose was it?” You asked, “If not mine, then whose? I wasn’t there, Bobbi! I should’ve been, but I wasn’t. I – I can’t let the others down like that.” You said, voice quivering slightly as you said your words. You quickly wiped at your eyes, as if your friend wasn’t watching you like a hawk during this moment.
“They don’t need you to play overwatch.” Bobbi said, sitting against the table now, closer to you.
“Who else is gonna?”
“Look, what happened to your dad –” You moved to her as she started to talk, pointing a finger at her in anger.
“What happened to him should’ve of! Skye has the chance to see her father, to find some fucking family! I’m gonna get her to them, she deserves that.” You softened your voice as you continued to talk, seeing that you had lost control.
“Agent Y/N,” You both and saw Coulson looking between you both, “I need you.”
Turned out, he needed you for a lot things, as things spiralled from there; with Ward getting out and Skye’s father making plays. To say you had your hands full would be an understatement.
For yourself, Bobbi and Hunter, it led to you all tailing HYDRA agents while the others tried to find your find, “HYDRA’s here in a bag way. Some abandoned theatre the, “Ponce de Leon.”” Bobbi said as she called Coulson to let him know, “No. And there’s no easy way in. There are at least a dozen HYDRA soldiers inside.” Bobbi said, after a bit more on Coulson’s end, she hung up.
“Ok, they’re on their way to back us up,” She informed you both as she saw your still tense posture, “Y/N,” You looked at her, “We’ll get her back. Skye’s a smart one, she’ll make it.” She assured you.
The others arrived and you came up with a plan; to stop HYDRA’s drill and then to find Skye. You followed them, taking down any and all HYDRA members in the area. As you continued, you had the nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you should be helping in the search for Skye; but here you were instead.
It was right at the end, at the seeming victory that you got the call, “Skye’s still down there.”
You didn’t talk on the way home; you only ran to find your best friend asleep in a glass cage; basically quarantine.
“Y/N.” Bobbi called out as you stood, staring at Skye; she looked broken in the cell, “Y/N, look at me,” You complied, “Look, this was out of your control –”
“So was my father, Bobbi.” You snapped.
“It was,” You didn’t expect such a blunt statement, “But that, like this, is not your fault. You are not responsible for this.” For once, you listened to her words; you seemed to have some understanding of them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were all in new territory, now just flying in the dark; Jemma was terrified of what had killed Trip and feared that Skye had been infected with some sort of parasite. So, in a way, she was patient zero.
You, however, did all you could to try and visit Skye as much as you could as Coulson would keep sending you on missions to get you away and try and help you not worry about her and this new situation. He knew you would, they all were worried; he just thought that this would be the best way to help you deal with it.
That led to a confrontation with Skye’s father; the guy wasn’t exactly what you wanted him to be for your friend. Right at the current moment, you were with the others and going to confront him and his goons, while using Skye as (sadly) bait to draw him out.
He took it, meeting you all on an abandoned football field; part of it made sense with the different sides and all.
However, this game would be anything but clean. As, while you only had one powered person on your team, they had a few.
You were with Bobbi, fighting against your opponent a woman who had sharp claws as fingers. You had tried to talk her down, however the woman didn’t want to come with you. She swung at you, you ducked as Bobbi used her batons against your assailant. You managed to get a punch in, before you leaned back to dodge another attack.
As you fell back, Bobbi covered for you, sliding over the table and grabbing a towel that she then wrapped around Karla’s hands and threw her into a wall.
“Get back!” Bobbi warned you as she used her batons to hit the table and raise it up, the other end sending Karla back and making her finally fall unconscious.
It was after that when you had felt the vibrations on the floor. Bobbi looked to you and opened her mouth to advice against your next actions, but you were already running out before she could.
“SKYE!” you yelled as the vibrations stopped and your friend started to collapse, you didn’t make it in time, however. Instead, she hit the cold grass with a thud.
Simmons had made gloves to help suppress her power, to try and help mitigate any further damage to herself.
Bobbi, meanwhile, had vanished for a small time. However, before she had left, she had seemed to ask Andrew to give you a therapy session. You knew that you wouldn’t be able to get out of this one, so you knew you had to go.
So, now you sat with Andrew opposite you, with one of his arms swung over the sofa his on to try and get himself comfortable; you, meanwhile, were tense.
“Y/N, I know you don’t want to be here. But I do appreciate it.” Andrew said, his words sounded honest; but he could tell you were still thinking about other things other than this moment.
“Yeah, well, you get more money for this and Bobbi gets to do whatever she wants to do without my constant badgering so, you know.” You said.
Andrew laughed a little, “I know you’re worried about Skye, but you have no need to be –” He tried to assure you of that; but you spoke over him.
“Of course, I am, I’m her friend and she’s going through something right now and no one is there to help her.” You said in a defensive manner.
“Everyone is doing their best for her –” Again, you stopped him; but he didn’t seem to mind.
“They’re shit terrified of her.” He caught onto your wording.
“And you aren’t?”
“For her, sure; but not of her.” You clarified.
“I see, so your own issues don’t really matter?” He asked, seeming to fin something to bring it full circle, back to you.
“I know what you’re trying to do. And I’m onto you.” You said, narrowing your eyes at him.
“And what is that?” He asked in a slightly playful voice; maybe he did enjoy his job after all.
“Trying to get me to open up about my issues rather than think about my friends’. It’s cute. But, out of them, Bobbi and I are the oldest, so I’ll do what I need to for them.”
“Ah, so it’s a big sibling motivation driving you.” He said. Now he was getting somewhere.
“I guess, even if I didn’t have one.” You said, having never really looked at it that way before; you had to give him that.
“Maybe it’s more a of an almost parental thing. After what happened with your dad –”
“….He was always involved in my life for as long as I could remember,” You said, deciding to just come out with it, “I mean, I guess I got lucky there,” You let out a humourless laugh, thoughts going back to your friend who was locked up, “And he….he never let me in on his – So – So when HYDRA….” You trailed off, feeling yourself feel the guilt and pain.
However, for once, you felt the comforting presence that your friend had ordered to be by your side; seemed Bobbi knew you better than you gave her credit for, “I just….One minute he was there, then he was gone. I just want Skye to have a moment with her father.” You admitted, more tears appearing in your eyes as you pretty much laid yourself bare.
“I know Coulson’s trying to fill that void, and I appreciate it. But I can’t control my own shit. But, maybe by doing this for Skye, I can.” Although, part of you knew how flimsy the justification was. How flimsy and how many holes that answer actually had.
You still stuck with it, however.
“Did you ever get to say goodbye to him?” He asked. As he did, you finally let out a sob. As that happened, however, your best friend just happened to be walking past the room, she looked in and saw you breaking down.
She wanted nothing more than to go and comfort you, but she then remembered what Coulson had told her; about how she needed to be moved.
“Goodbye Y/N, see you in a little while, hopefully.” She said under her breath as she continued to watch you talk to Andrew about your father.
She was happy for you, she was, that you were starting to try and heal. But, then again, she also knew that she’d miss you and knew how you’d most likely react.
After your talk with Andrew, you had felt a little better. But now you were being attacked by someone else.
“Y/N,” May called out your name as they both approached you, “Come one.” Was all she said simply.
You, her and Fitz met up with Coulson as May revealed what was going on, “It’s Bobbi. She’s set off some kind of EMP. She’s gone.” You looked between the older pair with wide eyes.
“What?” You asked.
Now you had two people you called friends stabbing you in the back; and just to add to that, Skye was gone. You tried to find a place to hide, but you then came face to face with the woman herself.
“You fucking bitch!” You cried out as you swung for her, she dodged and then grabbed both of your arms to restrain you; as other agent’s pulled out their weapons.
“Y/N, Y/N calm down! Calm down!” She ordered you as you still struggled against her.
“We’ve found where Skye is, she’s in trouble.” Those words made you stop; but you still glared at your friend.
“Oh god, now we’re bringing them with us?” The bald one said. You already didn’t like him.
“Where is she?”
She was being hounded by SHIELD like she was a threat, you all ran as quickly as your legs could take you to find her. You had, heart racing as you saw her holding a gun to a downed agent.
However, a gun click then made you look at the bold one, “SKYE!” You cried out, she turned to you as the bullet went off. However, the next moment, a pulse knocked you all back and onto the ground.
You were hazy, but you felt a slight pain in your leg.
Skye looked at the destruction she caused, but then she saw the piece of bark that was impaled in your leg. You had only tried to help her, and she had hurt you in the process.
So, she did the only thing she could to keep you safe; she called Gordan and ran.
Bobbi had pulled you onto the Quinjet, the thing immediately took off as she made damn sure to keep you breathing and alive. You were her friend, but you were also Skye’s; and she knew that her other friend would feel mountains of guilt if you bled out because of her own actions.
As soon as it landed, Bobbi called out for Simmons; not a medic, but Simmons. She knew that your friend would be the only one you’d trust in the state you were in.
“Oh my god, Y/N.” Jemma said in one breath as she ran to you and helped get you into a bed, “Clear the room!” She ordered everyone else; when they didn’t move, she turned to them, “I said out!”
“Come on you guys.” Bobbi said, helping clear the area. Then it was just you and Jemma.
“Oh, Y/N.” Jemma said in a quivering voice; she never liked to see anyone hurt, but especially not any of her friends.
“Just….just pull the damn bark out.” You told her; she took your hand for a moment before she nodded.
“Alright, you’ll need something to –”
“I can be here; I can hold their hand.” Bobbi offered, knowing she was on uneven ground with Jemma as a friend; but right now, you were a common goal they both shared, to save you.
“Fine.” The British woman conceded; Bobbi moved and grabbed your hand, squeezing it to try and prepare you.
Finally, the bark was removed, and you let out your own scream. Your own bark of pain.
You finally laid back down in your bed as Jemma tied a bandage around said wound.  As she did so, Bobbi only kept your eyes on you.
“Did you speak to Andrew?” She asked, trying to keep you distracted; you nodded before grimacing in discomfort for a moment.
“Yeah, guy’s good.” You admitted as Jemma finished and moved to stand next to Bobbi so you wouldn’t have to strain yourself.
“Knew it.” Bobbi said with a smile, one that shook as she was worried about damaging your friendship.
“So, REAL SHIELD, huh?” You asked, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, long story.” She said.
“Well, I’m sure you can catch me up for as long as I’ll be in here for.” She now looked at you a bit confused, “What you did was shitty; but I’m not going to be going anywhere until this is done healing and until doctor Simmons lets me out,” Simmons gave you a caring smile, despite the tense situation SHIELD was currently in, “Besides, what’s Skye is going through is something I can’t help her with. At least, not on my own. So, we’ve got time until we find her.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your leg had healed just as they were about to go on a mission to try and find Mike Peterson and another Inhuman that had been with Skye. You, of course, volunteered to go, both to save Mike/Inhuman, but also for Skye.
However, the catch as that you needed to work with Ward, so an old friend was coming back into your life one more time.
As you did, one person on your list show up to look at you all from above, “Hey guys.” She said, leaving you all elated.
You hugged your friend, but not tightly; it was still a comforting hug to you both. She hugged you back, taking this as a moment of forgiveness for her. She had better control of your power, but she still worried about whether or not you made it out.
This showed her that you had made it, and that you harboured no ill will towards her for what had happened.
“So, new guy….?” You said in a suggestive voice; Skye rolled her eyes but knew that you could always read her easily.
“There’s nothing thee….not yet anyway.” She said, you chuckled at her words.
Ward was then in the room, seemingly confused as to why you had all stopped talking and only looked at him with death glares. So, he tried to address the elephant in the room; his betrayal.
“Y/N….I’m sorry about what I did to your father.” He said, you only kept a firm look at him; but Skye moved her hand into yours.
“You don’t talk to her about that.” She said, defending you; she squeezed your hand in a sisterly, loving fashion.
“Ok, ok.” Ward said, raising his hands up in the air, getting the message.
He led you to the HYDRA facility to find the guy (Lincoln) and Mike. You followed Skye, making sure to keep him apart from Skye as you all walked and followed Ward. The door opened, and you all instantly got hit by gunfire.
Getting behind cover, you fired a few shots, before ducking back down again on your bad leg. While it had healed, the pain was still there.
Skye noticed your shift on you leg, she knew she had to take care of them quickly. She ran out of cover and held her hand out, the next moment, the HYDRA agents flew backwards.
“Thanks.” You said as she helped you up.
“What are friends for?” She responded with as she helped you up and you all continued on your way.
As you went with Skye, you both came across a few agents; together, you both made your way through them, both working in sync as all the HYDRA guards went to none. Finally, you both shared a nod as you made your way into the room that held Lincoln.
However, the flatline was the only thing you heard, “Hey, hey, hey.” You said, Skye looked up at you, “You can rumble shit, right?” She nodded, “You can save him. You got this.” You told her. She held her hands over his chest and pushed down.
After she did, the machine beeped.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skye….Daisy’s mother was gone, as was her father via amnesia. She had gone to her room when she got back, but you heard the crying on the other side.
“Daisy?” You asked, knocking on the door. You waited a moment before the door opened, with a tear-stricken Daisy Johnson on the other side, “Oh, honey.” You said sympathetically as you hugged her and closed the door behind you as she broke down in your arms.
“They’re gone Y/N! They’re gone! It’s not fair!” She cried into your shirt as you ran a hand up and down her back as you pressed your lips onto her head.
“I know it’s not, Daisy. Death never is,” You pulled away and waited until she met your eyes, “But you know what helps?” You asked.
“What?” She asked as she sniffled.
You smiled softly at her, “Talking about it, as it turns out.” You said, sitting on the bed with her.
You knew you couldn’t solve it for her, and that was just a truth you had to live with. But there was something you did know; and that was that you could do the one thing you should’ve been doing in the first place; supporting her.
So, here you were, doing just that

i’m at least five days late to doing this but the darling @iconic-ponytail tagged me with this question. sorry for taking forever, and thanks for tagging me <3
fanfic reader/ writer that got you into reading? and writing? who got you into writing and/or reading? first fic you read and/or wrote? last fic you read and/or wrote?
My best friend and I were fairly obsessed with the percy jackson series as middle schoolers, so I think around sixth or seventh grade she introduced me to a few pjo stories on ff dot net, but my enjoyment of fanfic didn’t really stick at that point, for multiple reasons:
ff.net's formatting makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out. even at that age, not having any other sites or archives to compare it to, i couldn’t stand it.
(prepare yourselves) halfway through seventh grade, one of our other best friends started lying to us about anything and everything, culminating in her creating a fake email account and sending us hurtful, accusatory messages from this fake person’s perspective. in order to prove that a) this person was fake and b) she was writing the emails herself, i found her ff dot net account and started reading her stories/author’s notes, the young sleuth i was. i then pulled snippets of her writing to compare to the prose in the emails, definitively proved she was lying/gaslighting us, and broke our friendship. i think ff, in my mind, was associated with her after that.
i was more into reading original novels at that time in my life, idk
I got back into fic when I was sixteen, during the first season of Riverdale, when I would watch the episode in clips on YouTube after it aired live (because pirate when u can, bb) while doing homework at my desk. I really loved Bughead starting episode 3 and was absolutely shocked by episode 6 (i watched their first kiss scene on repeat for at least an hour, and i’ve mentioned before that i start crying any time i hear that song). I would watch clip compilations and episode reviews/murder-mystery-theory videos on YouTube at night, and some google searching eventually lead me to Bughead fanfic on AO3. I really can’t remember what the first Bughead fic I read was. If I had to guess, it was either Fall in Light by @sylwrites or Something to Tell You by @findingbetty. honestly, though, i might just be misremembering, and those two aren’t the first fics i read but rather fics from that time that left a huge impression on me.
after, i want to say, a year of purely reading and commenting on fic, I decided to try my hand at writing my own multi-chapter (it’s still up, actually, and surprisingly has a higher hit count than a lot of my better works, lol). there was a period of time in which i’d given up writing this fic (and writing fic in general), but then I decided to finally make a tumblr and start writing again, and now we’re here.
The last fic I wrote is the newest update of Pride and Publishing, and I honestly can’t remember what I last read. I kind of gave up reading Bughead fanfiction in the last year (a complete 180 from that first year of just reading fanfic when i would refresh the AO3 tag every day and read pretty much everything). I guess I don’t feel as much of a need to connect to these characters that way anymore? Idk. but if I come across a fic/update post on tumblr by an author i love then I’ll definitely read it (s/o to @ithoughtyoulikedmereckless, @heartunsettledsoul, @iconic-ponytail, @sullypants, @imreallyloveleee, and a ton of other authors i’m forgetting).
tagging: @bigdsgirl, @redundantoxymorons, @anniemurphys, @panalegs27, @catthecoder, and anyone else already tagged in this post who’d like to participate. or even if you aren’t tagged, just say i tagged you. and if you’ve done it already, pls ignore me, lol
