Roll up! Roll up! It's that time of year again: the nights are longer, it's all feeling colder, and the shops are all trying to sell you stuff. But here in the Sanctuary side of fandom, it's the start of the festive fic exchange!

Do you like writing fic?

Do you like reading fic?

Do you like putting unnecessary stress on yourself to make a wonderful gift for someone, just to have half of the fandom turn around and say, "Aaaaaaah, that's exactly what I needed to read right now?"*

Then this is the fic exchange for you! Today's post is the sign up post. Under the cut will be a list of questions. All you have to do is send me either a DM or an ask with your completed questionnaire then wait for your match!

This is open to anyone in the Sanctuary fandom, regardless of character/shipping preferences. When it comes to fic length, the minimum is 300 words. I don't really wanna give a max (because I know how the muse can get sometimes), but if we cap it around the 2k words mark that should be cool.***

I'll be posting a link to this around the place (and reblogging again this evening for the later crew), and you are more than welcome to message/contact me with any questions, queries or concerns.

Under the cut: the questions!

Username on Tumblr/AO3: (I need a method of contacting you 😊. If you have neither, pop me your email or something? We'll figure it out.)

Things I am comfortable writing: (gen or shippy? Fluff writer or angst? Family feels?)

Things I would not want to write about: (all the things you don't wanna write - characters you dislike, pairings you don't vibe with etc. Also heads up on any triggers you might have - you don't need to explain the whys.)

What I'd like to receive: (go for gold! The more info you can give, the more tailored to you the fic will be.)

What I would not like to receive: (All the things that you do not vibe with, or squick you. Please please please again with any trigger warnings - I don't want a gift to upset you. 😊)

Any other info that doesn't fit in the other questions: (General vibes, could you be a pinch hitter, any thoughts, questions, etc)

If you’re interested, please follow the link in the reblogs and fill out the form. Beneath the readmore, there is a quick guide to the form to help you out in case you get confused :)

Also, if anyone is interested in signing up as a pinch hitter as well as/instead of being a creator, this is also included in the form! It is perfectly possible to sign up as a pinch hitter without also signing up as a creator, so don’t worry about it.

Better sign up quick! The form closes on 1 November!

EMAIL:

This is the communication method we will be using throughout . Although there will be periodic reminders of deadlines over the event Discord, Tumblr, or elsewhere, email is where all official communication will take place, and you will need one to take part in this event.

NICKNAME:

This is pretty self-explanatory! What do you want us to call you during this event? You can also include your pronouns here if you’re comfortable :)

SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES:

At this moment, you don’t need an AO3 account, but you will need to have one by the end of the event, so your work(s) can be added to the exchange collection. However, we also recognise that people will want to post their works elsewhere, so this helps us keep track of things at that end. Please enter your AO3 handle and any other social media handle you may want to include.

WHAT ROLE(S) WILL YOU BE PARTICIPATING AS?

What do you intend to do in this exchange? This can be as a creator, or as a pinch hitter, or as both!

Pinch hitters are the people who step in if a participant drops out during the exchange, in order to make sure that said participant’s giftee will not go without a gift!

Please note, however, that pinch hitters will not receive gifts, unless they are also registered as creators. Unfortunately, this is not something we can facilitate at this time.

PROMPT 1/2/3

This is where you type what you want to receive as a gift! Here are a few guidelines about prompts, in case you’re unsure about what to request.

Please don’t be too specific about what you want to receive. For example, ‘Bathin7 beach date’ is fine, but ‘Bathin and David go to the beach, and they eat ice cream, and then they have an argument about the thread count of socks, and then they…’ would not be. While it’s good to give some detail, it’s also important to allow creators the room to create.

You cannot request what type of gift you would like to receive. This means that you can’t ask for a fic specifically, or fanart. You will be randomly matched. Some creators may work in multiple mediums, others might, for example, only draw.

Requesting crossovers is allowed, but please be aware that apart from Stellar Firma, you and your match may have no media knowledge in common, so it might be better to limit crossover requests to one prompt.

Similarly for those who are of-age, consider limiting NSFW requests to one prompt, in order to make sure your match-up has choices, even if they’re not comfortable creating NSFW content.

Minors cannot request NSFW content.

Otherwise, go buckwild!

DO NOT WANTS:

This is, in essence, exactly what it says on the tin. If there’s a trope or something more specific which you would not be comfortable/happy receiving in your gift, this is where you say it.

e.g. David might list ‘socks’ as a DNW, or ‘angst’. For DNW it’s best to think in AO3 tagging-terms.

However, we cannot accept, for example, ‘anyone who has created NSFA content’, as this is an incredibly broad category, and can be abused against certain users. We are not a private detective agency, we will not be performing background checks for this project.

This is also where you would put accessibility requirements, for example, ‘flashing/bright and contrasting lights’ or similar if you experience photosensitivity.

ADULT OR MINOR?

Again, pretty self-explanatory. However, we’re aware that not all adults will be comfortable being paired with minors, and minors vice versa, so this is where you’ll have the option to opt out of being paired with someone in a different age group to you.

We are trusting you to be honest. We are not private investigators. If you lie here, we are not going to sniff out all of your personal accounts to check. In order for this exchange to run smoothly, please tell the truth.

FAN EVENTS SIGNAL BOOST:

Stellar Firma is a small fandom — that’s part of why this event is being held! If there are any fandom events running at a similar time to this (for example, another holiday exchange), this is where you let us know, so we can spread the word!

NSFW CONTENT:

Adults taking part in this event can opt in or out of receiving/creating NSFW content in this exchange. If you do/don’t want to handle NSFW content, this is where you can state this!

Minors cannot give/receive NSFW content in this event.
