Sideblog for original art/series and stuff
Main is @s-rolldown-s-fork
Main series Rn is ASV (
Might post ideas here? If I post anything at all. My series are usually wildly personal and self-indulgent and I don't like posting some stuff online
Most other series are dead but I revisit them from time to time
Series List:
ASV (Arc Santino Verse) (I gave it that name very early into the series so. Yeah) - Probably has the most stuff of all my series
Heaven's Fall/UwUverse - have multiple dead rp blogs for this, but sometimes doodle stuff
TVES/The Void Estate Series - same as Heaven's Fall, but blog only and less art ig? Mostly dead/undergoing renovations. I revisit it sometimes
Doll Story/dollverse (not a placeholder name, it's a Toy Story reference) -
Seyue Series - One of my first proper ones! Uh pretty rusty and doesn't really have a plot (it was really, really character focused and driven)

Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors Splatfest Announcement Special
Originally on AO3, now exclusively on Tumblr!
[Back to the masterpost]
In case anyone new stumbles across this post, this is a bonus scene from “This Place We Called Home”, an Agent 24 fic set between Octo Expansion and Splatoon 3! At the time of this post, it has 18 chapters and over 130k words, so there’s plenty more content to read! Also check out the rest of this blog, which is solely devoted to TPWCH bonus content! The special scene is below the cut.
“Hey, how’s it goin’?” Seyu asked as his two old friends came into sight.
“Oh my Cod, Seyu! It’s been so long!” Seyu was a little surprised when it was Three who jumped up from his seat and wrapped him in a tight hug.
“Hey, Three,” Seyu chuckled in response.
By the time they separated, Eight had stood to share a hug as well.
They all sat down, and Three and Seyu’s eyes landed on each other’s, excited smiles beaming. “Okay, first order of business…”
Three knew exactly what Seyu was talking about, and they both stuck out their hands over the table, their palms down with their fingers spread wide. The squeals burst forth as the light glinted off the tiny diamonds encircling their ring fingers.
“I can’t believe we’re both engaged!”
“I know, right?” Three’s hand trembled slightly as he stared at it. “It’s like… you know, I kind of used to think this would never happen to me…”
“Oh, shut up, Three, you’re being too hard on yourself,” Eight said as he wrapped an arm around his fiancé. Three hummed softly as he leaned in.
“Shouldn’t the others be arriving soon?” Eight asked.
“Yeah, but we’re still kind of early. How long have you two been here, anyway?”
“Oh, you know how Eight is, always insisting on getting everywhere half an hour early.”
“Hey!” Eight protested.
“You know it’s true,” Three shot back.
Eight just rolled his eyes.
“Any other exciting news I missed?” Seyu prompted.
“Well…” Eight replied, smiling at Three proudly. “Three’s the new captain of the Squidbeak Splatoon!”
“No way! That’s awesome!”
Three nodded. “Yeah. We’re moving out here to investigate some sort of strange affliction that’s been affecting the Octolings in this region. It feels nice to be helping for a change, instead of… you know. We’re also here to scout out my replacement—someone who knows this area well. The next Agent Three.
“Passing on the mantle, huh?”
“Yeah… and the responsibility of the title. I’m ready to start totally fresh, you know. New place, new rankings, new name. I’m still Three, but now I’m Captain Three.”
“Captain Three~” Eight swooned, but the effect was ruined when Three’s and Eight’s eyes met, and they burst out in giggles.
“What about you, Seyu? I mean, we all know how I got proposed to, but how did yours go?”
Seyu blushed hard, his attempts to cover it with his hands futile. “Oh my Cod, this is embarrassing. You know how stereotypically cis Leo is… so, of course, it had to do with food. We were at the restaurant down in Takosula, and he arranged with the servers to bring out an order of fried ice cream with the ring stuck in the top.”
“Oh my Cod, that’s not embarrassing; that’s so adorable!” Three gushed.
“No, no. The embarrassing part is that I was so excited to eat the ice cream that I didn’t notice the ring—but to be fair, by the time they brought it out to the table, it had sunk down so that it was almost entirely covered. So I’m going at it, and then he starts freaking out because he’s afraid I’m going to choke, and he grabs a spoon and starts fishing through until he finds it… and then he holds it out to me on his spoon, all covered in ice cream, and proposes to me. So yeah… that’s how it happened.”
“At least it’s something you’ll never forget,” Eight said.
“Yeah. That’s for sure.”
“AYYYYYY WHERE MAH FAV OCTOS!!!” came a sudden scream from a few yards off, followed by a quieter: “Uhhhhh, second-fav Octos! Marina, you’re—obviously—my—favorite… you can stop looking at me like that now!”
It took Three just a moment to switch gears from Octoling to Inkling language. “I see Pearl hasn’t changed a bit.” They all turned to look at Pearl and Marina, who were accompanied by three other sea creatures.
“You betcha I haven’t! But you know what has changed? Off the Hook is no more! Say hello to Damp Socks!”
A pause followed as they all tried to process that.
“Damp… socks?” Eight repeated hesitantly.
“Yeah! Damp Socks! It’s so much cooler than Off the Hook, right? And these are our new band members!”
“Uh, hi!” Seyu added a little wave, and the new band members waved back.
“So now we’re just waiting on—”
“Was someone about to say, Agent 4?” Four appeared behind Three, making him jump hard enough that his wobbly seat clattered loudly.
“No, actually, I was going to say the Squid Sisters.”
“Oh, c’mon! Don’t act like you weren’t begging me to come!”
She looked at him knowingly, and Three took this as his chance to whisper, “You’re still on board with the pact, right?”
“Yep! With you and I on the same team, we can win this Splatfest easy. Single-handedly, even.”
“You know it takes four cephos just to have a battle, right?”
“We can take them. 2 on 4, no problem.”
Then they were interrupted by Seyu clearing his throat from across the table. “What are you two whispering about over there, hmm? Not strategizing before the Splatfest announcement, I hope?”
“Definitely not,” Three said.
“Honestly, what kind of Cephos do you think we are, Seyu?” Four said with her best innocent eyes.
“The Splatfest announcement is about to start,” Eight noted. “I wonder where are the Squid Sisters.”
“And Leo…” Seyu murmured.
“Have you tried texting him?” Three suggested.
“Eight times,” Seyu sighed.
“He’ll show. I’m sure he’s fine.” But Three’s hands were fidgeting under the table.
Suddenly, a jingle played from the speakers throughout the square, and everyone turned their attention to the giant screen. This was their first real look at the idols of the Splatlands—Shiver, Frye, and Big Man.
Listen up! It’s going down… began the purple-haired Octoling. Repping the Splatlands, we are DEEP CUT!
Anarchy Splatcast! the yellow-haired Inkling chimed in. We’re live!
Finally, Three spotted the Squid Sisters, who had traded out their by-now-iconic green and pink disguises for nearly-matching yellow ones. They were breathing hard by the time they made it to the table. “We made it!” Callie breathed.
“If you hadn’t… spent so long… fussing over our outfits… we wouldn’t have been late!” Marie struggled to get out between breaths.
“It’s all right! We’re here now! Did we miss anything?”
“Nothing yet!” Marina assured them. Let’s listen!”
...a Splatfest! Players pick one of three teams to battle it out! the ray explained.
“Wait—THREE?!” just about everyone at the table shouted, which gave Three himself quite a fright.
Eight was quick to explain, “Not you, Three! Three Splatfest teams! Did that ever happen before?”
“No,” Three said. “But I guess it makes sense since there’s three idols here. I bet all of the Splatlands Splatfests are going to have three teams. That changes everything, though.”
“Wow this is so exciting and chaotic! I wish I had come up with it!” Pearl lamented.
“How will that even work?” Marina wondered.
“Shut up! They’re revealing the theme!” Callie shouted, and everyone turned toward the screen to watch.
Which one’s the best? Rock, Paper, or Scissors!
And immediately the whole table devolved into chaos.
“Paper, obviously.” It was the clear choice for Three, being an artist and all.
“Scissors! With a sharp enough blade, you can cut through any restraint and break free!” Eight reasoned.
“Rock! A sturdy, unyielding force! And also, Shiver’s style gives me goosebumps!” Seyu gushed.
The three Cephalings all looked at each other in shock.
“No way… we’re all picking different teams?” Seyu said.
“Eight… babe. My sweet, sweet fiancé…" Three tried.
Eight crossed his arms. “Not happening.”
Defeated, Three turned to Four. “Four? Our deal?”
Conflict was written all over Four’s face. “But… but I love shiny sharp things!”
“No way! You made a deal, and you’re upholding your end of it! Come on, we’re going over to sign up for Team Paper right now!” He grabbed her by the arm and started dragging her toward the Splatfest Pledge Box.
“Alternatively, you could join Team Scissors, and then, technically, our pact would still hold up, and you’ll get to battle with your fiancé!"
"I’m not battling with that traitor. C’mon,” Three urged, a competitive edge belying his lightheartedness.
Back at the table, Seyu was less caught up in the post-announcement fervor and more focused on his phone.
“Still no response?” Eight asked.
“No… I’m starting to get worried about him.” Seyu could only take thirty more seconds of nervous foot tapping before he was standing up. “I need to go. Hopefully he’s just taking a nap or something…”
But they both knew that was a stretch.
“Good luck, Seyu,” Eight said, his attempt at hopefulness falling into a sad smile.
“And good luck to Team Scissors,” Seyu said as he turned to leave. “You’re going to need it.”

Tag 10 songs you’ve been listening to then tag 10 people
I was tagged by @mugoki thank you 🥰
i don’t really listen to music much, so here i’ve just compiled some albums/playlists as well as songs
1. Bonobo - Sugar Rhyme, All In Forms, First Fires, Ten Tigers, Stay The Same, The Keeper → i like all albums from bonobo but these songs are my favourites, got me thru a lot...mostly associated with the time when i was living alone and working a difficult job. i felt like that winter was endless....i would just listen to bonobo walking around the city, thinking about fictional characters (lol) now i don’t revisit bonobo much but whenever i do, it would be those couple of songs
2. Daft Punk - all albums, absolutely, but especially Random Access Memories 🙌i love it 100%. but other songs that i favour include Make Love, Something About Us, Digital Love. One of the first bands I’ve discovered and it’s my favourite till this day.
3. Gorillaz - albums Demon Days and Humanz → demon days is something i’ve been listening ever since it came out, but humanz is probably my favourite album on this list....i just love it, i love absolutely all songs.
4. The Sims → eh a bit cliche really but i listen to sims ost all the time, especially from the sims1, instrumental tunes from build/buy mode. i have a mini playlist of the original ost and it just helps me calm down when i feel restless or the opposite, puts me in the mood to daydream 🥰i have also a playlist for the sims2&3, and the sims makin magic spooky theme playlist.
5. Ace Attorney OST → ok this is lame but i really love ace attorney and especially the music, even the really old ones from 2001. i listen to them all but one of my favourites is Ace Attorney Jazz Album - i quite like jazz anyway and this is absolutely amazing to listen to, when taking long walks in beautiful and romantic cities like paris or venice, but also i listen to it when i just want to relax, and dream about something.
6. Danganronpa OST → another embarrassing thing to admit but i love danganronpa games and ofc i absolutely loooove the ost i have all of the albums and those are actually my most played songs. i know danganronpa is a bit......but still, i love it. i put a playlist from danganronpa 2 whenever i go to the sea or a tropical island, walking around sandy beaches and it’s just like in the game. and when i walk around my dirty city i just put songs from danganronpa 1 and danganronpa v3
7. FFXV OST → i guess i should include it here too, but i don’t listen to all songs, i love these particular ones: Hammerhead, Bros On The Road, Bros On The Road II, Galdin Quay, Lestallum, Cape Caem, A Quick Pit Stop, Apocalypsis Nocits, some songs from Comrades. i know that ffxv ost is amazing but if i was honest yoko shimamura’s melodies a bit too melancholic for me, i didn’t like the plot of the game and i was really traumatised by the plot, so listening to those tunes are putting me back in that mindset and i don’t like it. it’s been over a year but i still can’t recover, i don’t think about canon plot at all and just erase it from my memory.
8. MARK SHOLTEZ - If You Were A Song  → (i’m not sure if this is the right name for the song but this is how it is in my library so idk) the song i’m serenading to prompto my every waking hour :D
9. The Prodigy → another band i listen to since early childhood, any song from them goes, but it depends on the mood. although their style is pretty consistent.
10. Kurosawa Dia - White First Love → i thought i’d just finish with this beautiful song....it’s from a rhyme game love live that i used to play (though i played a lot of rhyme games in the past, and almost all of them had prompto’s japanese seyu in them lol) and i love it i love the voice, the melody, but the lyrics too, when i first heard it, i thought immediately about brotherhood prompto and noctis (IM SORRY) i know llsif songs are quite heavily copyrighted so you can’t really find them on youtube but you can listen here (and read the lyrics lol)
sorry it was soooo long lol i thought i’d just talk about my music a little and not just put random songs on. but like i said i don’t listen to music much, i prefer silence when i’m working, reading, thinking, etc. but sometimes when i walk around or just in the mood, i listen to those i mentioned. the selection is a bit melancholic and moody but i guess i’m just that kind of a lonely romantic lol. i spend 90% time by myself and i have since childhood, so not really music that is shared. but i listen to pop and like r’n’b songs when i’m with people.ANYWAY i don’t think i know that many people to tag so i’ll just tag whoever i know..... @promptoaddicted @ignisgayentia @totallynotmel @nyxaeternum @dizzymoogle @inkdropfox @corvusam @promptoisbi @pocket-prompto @sintiklia-sims you don’t have to do it ofc but would be cool to see more music coming around

A day in the bush
by Kim Langemak
Original: https://kimsafrikablog.wordpress.com/2017/01/28/a-day-in-the-bush/
In the first week in Tanzania, our friend Jesse asked us what the craziest thing was we ever did. Neither Jenny nor I could think of any good response. Of course, we travel a lot and have been on many adventures. But we didn’t consider any of it as crazy.
Little did we know that only one week later, we had the perfect response to that question.
Our daytrip to the Hazabe Bushmen On the weekend of January 7th until January 8th, Jenny, Jesse and me had the unique possibility to visit our friend Saingas Family from the Datoga tribe and also the Hadzabe tribe (the bushmen with the Click-language!!) by Lake Eyasi Sea in the South of the Serengeti.
We didn’t know much about the Hadzabe tribe, except that they are one of the oldest remaining tribes of gatherers and hunters in the world and of course we heard of their famous “Click-language”. Approx. 1.500 people of the Hadzabe tribe live in Tanzania. The Hadzabe do not have any properties or farming animals like other tribes in Tanzania. They only live from gathering and hunting and don’t stay long in any place.  They are also the only once in Tanzania who do not have to pay taxes and who are still allowed to hunt wild animals – only for their own use of course, not for selling! Before our trip, I read a lot in National Geographic about the tribe and it said everywhere, that when you visit them, they enjoy presents like salt or flour. (See page) We asked Sainga about it, who only laughed and told us the one thing they are truly happy about is weed and tobacco – of course, this is no information you would find in National Geographic
We started on Saturday early in the morning with two motorbikes and headed out of Arusha into the direction of Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Our first stop was a viewing place in the mountains by Lake Manyara, where we had an amazing view over the National Park.
Afterwards, we went another hour on the street until we reached the last big town with a supermarket where we stocked up our water supplies and then went off the main road on a dirt road towards Lake Eyasi. After a while, Jesses and Jennys bike broke down and it was one of many many times that day that we (Ok, mainly Sainga) had to push them to get it started again.
Tumblr media
The Datoga tribe: Our next stop was at the Datoga tribe, where we met Saingas family. His Mum Udabunda was so sweet and she and the other women took us into their hut and we “talked”, with Sainga as translator and with our hand and feet. The common greeting there is “seyu” and it’s the only word I remember in the Datogas language. We felt very comfortable and welcome at the Datoga tribe and the women seemed genuinely interested in us and we could ask anything we wanted.
This tribe lives in the Lake Eyasi area which the share with the tribe of the Hadzabe. The Datoga people keep cows, goats, donkeys and chickens, but cows are by far the most important domestic animal for them. The Datoga tribe is practicing polygamy and men are allowed to marry several women, however a man has to give cows to the women and family he wants to marry. Therefore, the more cows a man has the richer he is and the more women he can marry.
Saingas father was a very rich man and has 9 wifes and 40 children (who already have children…).  Saingas Mum has 5 children in total and he is the second born. Since the Datoga tribe does not count age, he is not sure how old he is but believes he was born around 1992. His mother and the other women of his father get along well. This is not always the case and in other tribes the women strongly dislike each other. In the Datoga tribe they are happy to have another woman in the family, which can help with the daily duties. The women in the tribe are not allowed to drink or smoke weed, so we asked what they do instead. They took out a little box of tobacco, which they offered all of us to sniff and which apparently makes them more awake. We chatted some more with the women and they draw their tribe tattoo in our faces and explained their jewelry to us before we took off towards the Hadzabe.
Sainga is one of the few people who knows the Hadzabe very well. As a kid, he was always taking care of his families goats and cows and when he walked with them to find the best grazing spot he would play with the kids from the Hadzabe tribe – and that’s how he learned the Click language/sound of the Hadzabe.
Later on, he was the first child in his tribe who was send to school. Usually the Datoga people do not send their children to school, however in the 1990’s a women from the US (Amy Nadell) stayed for one year with Saingas Mum to study the tribe and their way of life. When she left she insisted on sponsoring the school for Sainga. His father had no understanding for it at that point but his mother worked very hard to make it possible and for Sainga she is a real hero. When he was send to boarding school all the other tribes around them thought that his mother had sold him to the American women and they were really surprised when he came back one day and told all of them that he has been in school. His school was located in the middle of the Lake Manyara National Park and he admitted that he often tried to sneak away to see his family but failed, because of the wild animals like lions etc. around the school.
Because he had the possibility to go to school, he became one of the few people in the world who don’t only know his tribes language and Kiswahili, but also the click language and English. Nowadays, Sainga is studying for his Bachelor degree in Economics and Finance in Arusha and is also working as a guide in Lake Eyasi Region. Because of his education other people in the tribe look up to him and he is trying to make a change by convincing the elders in the tribe to send their children to school. Up to now 11 of his younger siblings already went to school, learn and get the same opportunities like him – even the girls! But he also has bigger plans and his dream is to provide all Datoga children with free quality education. With his innovative ideas, I am sure he will be more than successful in providing his family with education, empower young women and find a way for his tribe to develop forward and get jobs – as they are all very eager to learn and work.
Lake Eyasi The next stop was Lake Eyasi – even though because of the drought there was not much left of the lake. It was more like a big puddle, where we found lots of young children swimming while taking care of their family’s cattle. Sainga also went for a swim, and as foolish as I am I wanted to wash my hands in the lake .. and stepped right into the deep deep mud surrounding it – the kids all cracked up laughing so hard. I am only glad I didn’t fall in completely. We took a rest here and enjoyed the beautiful view around us.
Since Jesses bike kept breaking down we went back from the Lake to the “main street” nearby to find a fundi (Kiswahili for handyman). It was already after 5pm and our plan was to get our tents and camping material before the dark (6pm) and then quickly move on to the Hadzabe. Of course, it didn’t work out as planned. They took the whole motor apart and at the end we were all standing around with our phones to give the fundi some light while he was working. We still had a lot of fun and danced around to the music of a nearby restaurant.
Tumblr media
Once the bike was fixed we quickly went to Saingas uncle to get all our camping material and then went to get Chips-ma-yay (fried potatoes with egg – my favorite street food in Tanzania) at the road and rested a little bit.
The Hadzabe tribe Then it was finally time to head out into the bush to the Hadzabe. I have probably never felt this free and have never been this full of adrenalin. (And I have also never been this dirty, covered in dust and mudd from my little accident at Lake Eyasi).
We went off the dirt road onto some paths – which none of us except Sainga would ever have found. Suddenly, we stopped and my first thought was that now our bike also broke down and we got stranded in the middle of the bush. But Sainga told me to get off because we were “there”. In front of us was just a small mountain and around us it was completely dark – I was happy that the stars were shining so bright and we got all our flashlights with us – still I looked around and didn’t see anything.
Sainga started talking and suddenly lots of people started to appear behind the trees with their bows and arrows and speers ready in their hands… It was the craziest thing I have ever seen! They heard the motorcycles coming and thought that it would be the government, thus they decided to hide in the bush. When they heard Saingas voice they were relieved and came out of their hiding spots. Everyone came to say hello to us and to shake our hands. Then they helped us carry our things into the cave to their fire. It were mainly men sitting with us at the fire, the women stayed in the background and we only saw one carrying a baby. As Sainga predicted the first thing they asked us for was something to smoke. Jenny handed them one of her cigarettes and her lighter – and they didn’t know how to use it. They are still making fire with stones and wood. I felt like I was back in Stone Age or in the Flintstone show which I used to watch as a kid. We sat with them for another hour at the fire. Sainga told us more about their lives and the different types of arrows they were using for hunting wild animals and a man played music on his bow (like on a guitar). One of the men put his “cap” on me, which later turned out to be made of baboon.
Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to camp in the area as planned. Someone had seen us going into the park and it is forbidden for white people to camp near the Hadzabe so they called the regional government and we had to leave.
Since I am home, everyone asked me if I was scared in this moment, with all the strange men in the bush and I can honestly say that we weren’t scared at all – we were simply amazed and in awe of this wild and freely living tribe.
When we finally got back to Saingas uncle it was already after midnight. We put up the tents outside his house and were all happy to finally get some rest. We left early on the next morning as we had to be at Pippis house at 2pm for the Christmas celebrations. On the way back we got to see some Baboons (this time alive and in one piece J ) and I also saw a Zebra.  Of course, Jesses bike kept breaking down in the heat and we were all very exhausted when we finally made it back after 5 hours of driving (even though I was just sitting in the back).
One funny side note for all Germans: Most of you probably know the show “The strictest parents of the world”/”Die strengsten Eltern der Welt” which is produced by Kabel1 and Sat1. I have never really watched it and was always sure it is fake. Turns out its not. Sainga got a job from the tv show producers for the episode that plays in Tanzania. The two children were actually send off to live with the Datoga tribe for two weeks. The TV staff always left them alone at night and Sainga had to stay with them and make sure they stay alive. The sad part is that these are not even the strictest parents in the world. They just live a completely different live and children start helping their parents at a very young age. Saingas family and the others of the tribe were so kind to us and the children all looked happy and healthy. It’s just a different life style but not a life full of punishment for the children. The punishments the German kids had to go through were e.g. getting water – which is simply a necessity for staying alive. You can watch the full episode here
With that in mind: stay curious my friends – there are so much adventures out there, you just have to go and take the risk ❤

Regarding the Strange Boy's canon name, Ozzy might be a shortened form of Ozymandias, which is the title of a poem about a cursed statue that induces despair in the travellers who look at it:
https://poets.org/poem/ozymandias
"I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: ‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’ Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Edit: So my assumption turned out to be correct. This comic directly references panels from the Doraemon manga, including the "Dictator Switch", an invention which makes people vanish.
I've translated it to english:

According to the developers, Egliette was inspired by Charlotte, from Madoka Magica.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If that's true, I wonder if she has an alternate form, like this? No wonder Fleta discarded copies of Egliette so many times.

Everybody's gotta learn sometime
Chapters: Completed Fandom: Ace Attorney; Miles Edgeworth: Investigations Rating: Gen Notes: Post-Canon; Oneshot
Summary: Blaise has recieved a lot of mail during his tenure as the head of the Prosecutorial Investigation Committee. Not all of these letters are pleasant. Sebastian became privy to it eventually, and it's only now that Blaise realizes what it means.
-
I was thinking about how the general public would potentially react to corruption in the Ace Attorney universe. What would happen if the villains got death threats? Hate mail? Etc. Would they handle it well? It lead me to write a short fic with that premise.
This was partially based on a scene from Koe no Katachi, a manga that has similar themes.
Two o'clock had come and gone. That was when a courier passed out deliveries around the cell block once a week, ensuring letters were distributed to their recipients. Some inmates got packages that had been weighed and stamped, to detect that contraband wasn't overlooked by censors. You were lucky if you did, but most received plain envelopes from family and acquaintances.
Blaise only had one relative left.
He sat at a wooden, government-standard issue desk, staring down at the pile of unopened messages that slowly built up day by day, threatening to topple off onto the concrete floor. One envelope lay crumpled, torn next to a folded sheet of beige stationary. Whoever the sender was, they'd used force when scratching haphazard cursive with a pen, causing ink to bleed in spots. The words swam as he went over them again, reading line after line in silence, face impassive. There should have been anger. And on some level, there was. Blaise could easily have crumpled it up and tossed it in a small trashcan with the others, sent by disgruntled citizens who'd been following recent news. He felt none.
When they still lived together in the townhouse, Blaise had caught Sebastian lighting the fireplace multiple times, to discard envelopes under the guise of fueling flames. Not all. Only a handful from the mailbox, dutifully brought inside and hidden when the teen assumed noone was present. Blaise had yelled at him each time, demanding furiously that he stop - but threats weren't enough to keep it from happening. Sebastian had just stood there each time, head bowed, crying and apologizing profusely as he faced punishment. Did as he was told, for awhile. Then the disappearances continued. Never bills, documents faxed from work, or bribes. Sifting through ashes after the fire died down revealed half of them were addressed to Blaise, though some had been intended for Sebastian, according to the addresses that were included.
Now, he understood why.
All Blaise could think of was how much of an idiot he'd been.
Blaise Debeste, it read: You are disgusting! Why are our tax dollars used to prolong your execution? Your whole lot is disgusting, and it would be better for society if the whole operation collapsed! I hope you rot in jail. GO DIE!
Most of them were like that. People poured out their hatred for the Committee on paper every week, sending graphic death threats, obscene epithets, ransom notes, all calling him every name under the sun. It should have been obvious, but he had never realized it, not until the very end. These were the ones that got discarded. He'd been so used to getting them initially - even expected it to happen, as his career plummeted into ruins - that the sudden lull seemed almost too convenient.
Sebastian had been trying to protect him the whole time. It stopped when Blaise was arrested, and now noone was left for him to hide behind, or use as a scapegoat. He was stuck living with it; the knowledge of all that he had done. But more than that, he was alone.
Disgusting.
Monster.
How could you?
Coward!
GO DIE-
A tear splashed, marring ink so that it blurred into the paper like watercolor paint. His vision was blurring, now, making it impossible to discern anything legible. Blaise hadn't realized he'd been crying until wetness slid down his cheeks, dripping off his nose. He'd taken off his goggles to prevent them from fogging up, even if there was no point to wearing them.
Slowly, he wiped at his eyes with an arm that hid the letters from sight.
"That kid really... pisses me off."

Will be uploading some new fics this week
Regarding that last post, I haven't played Starbound in awhile but really should. Asra Nox wasn't written the best in terms of villains but she's so cool; I love her design and student-teacher relationship with Esther

People will probably get on my case for complimenting anything Squimpus made, but I'm obsessed with the way they characterized William Afton. I wish more depictions of him were like that, just this average guy, maybe in his late thirties or early fourties, who sounds like a normal father and casually talks about committing horrible crimes, not really standing out otherwise
I'm not sure how scares like the ones in fnaf vhs would work if they were integrated into the movie. Probably not well. But it's interesting to consider how it could have been different in depicting technology from the eighties

@arcticflakes said there weren't many fanfics that show Blaise Debeste in a postive light, or at least lighthearted ones that have him and Sebastian bonding, so I wrote this:
It was also inspired by this image, featured in the notes. More info under the cut
Kay: "Awesome! Imma deck you in the schnoz!"
(If people get all the references I'd be surprised; that line's from DBZ abridged
A large majority of Investigations fics put Sebastian through so much trauma that I kind of wanted to give them both a break. People really don't explore different scenarios there, which is a shame since there's a lot of potential for it.
This is more part of the AU, but Blaise actually did lose his wife to illness in that as opposed to what's hinted at in the game here. I originally wanted to feature Agnes Debeste in this, but wasn't sure if her creator would be okay with it, so Lilith is a reference to that OC.
(And he apparently does collect toy motorcycles in canon, lol)
I'm planning to release more aa-related things before Flame Resistant, including one based off another user's interpretation of Kristoph Gavin's backstory, but for now there'll just be worldbuilding.

New fanfics
Published a lot of content. These were posted on a03 awhile back, but I've been meaning to upload chapters here. Will make official posts for these soon:
Playing solitaire
Rating: Gen
Summary: Still coping with Mia Fey's death, Godot develops a headmate that takes on her identity. She helps him to obtain parole, find a new career path, and subsequently repair his relationship with Phoenix Wright. But some things can never be fixed.
He's not supposed to have DiD here, but that tag seemed necessary. Godot's a bartender in the story because it felt right.
blank canvas, white dream
Rating: Mature
Summary: After enduring almost nothing but misfortune throughout his life, Kristoph Gavin gives up on living when the death penalty is abolished. Kristoph is confined to a hospital while others try to give him reason to go on. Where they fail, however, Vera Misham manages to succeed, overcoming trauma in the process.
Based on the fic you're not who you are to anyone. Serves as an alternate ending to it. CW for heavy themes; see tags in link
Flame Resistant (preview)
Rating: Mature
Summary: Blaise Debeste comes to severely regret doing community service in a bid to ease his prison sentence. However, with the help of former acquaintances, he becomes a better person and ultimately is able to make up for his crimes thanks to it.
Takes place after Investigations 2 ends; sort of a "reformed villain" AU. The preview will have artwork (mainly character sprites) added in the future.
mansuetude otium
Rating: Gen
Summary: In a prison yard, Blaise thinks about the past and considers befriending another inmate, Cammy Meele, whom he suspects is going through troubles of her own.
This was heavily inspired by Cleaning Out the Rooms, an Omori fic. I'll admit the blunt prose and writing style derives a great deal from it.

This actually happened with two of my followers. I think it was either 2021 or 2022, but one of them went through my friend's likes on twitter because they deemed the art she posted "problematic". This mutual then proceeded to message me about it, asking that I confront her about this. My friend was forced to out herself as a survivior of trauma and explain why she used this kind of artwork as a means of healing from what she experienced. And this is someone I've known for over a decade, who has always supported me and never hurt anyone. One of the nicest people I associate with, taken advantage of by family members she trusted. My friend had her privacy violated by this mutual, all because they jumped to conclusions over it.
While this situation was resolved, it doesn't change the fact that this sort of invasive, controlling behavior crosses boundaries, no matter what reasons are given. Self-proclaimed antis harbor the same rhetoric as rightwingers. My mother works full-time at a library, which is being threatened by Catholic zealots over religious books not "being featured"… even though there is a whole section dedicated to them. Kirk Cameron is one of the individuals pushing this ridiculous narrative, as he forced the staff to allow him to host story hour. Meanwhile, said zealots have tried to defund the library because it gives patrons access to LGBT-themed books, using drag queens as a scapegoat for their own biases. Mom has been supportive of me ever since I came out as trans. She got me the novel Annie on My Mind years ago, which helped me to understand my sexuality more. And she could lose her job because the township won't do anything about these people.
I've dealt with the knowledge that they exist for years. I wish we didn't give them voices. Life is short, and the fact that they choose to spend it dragging others down over fiction, of all things, feels like a waste.

As I try new games in the series that I haven't played before, it's fun to look up the characters on the wiki and see trivia about them, what their name means, who they're close with
It's helped me to come up with lore and meaningful names for my own OCs

Uh… okay

@eway4 It's rude to say this about someone's art unprompted. You do realize I like these characters, right? How would you feel if someone insulted Sebastian that way?
While I don't mind someone liking my posts, the amount of times you're doing it is going overboard. This is making me uncomfortable. Please stop
