*This is an alternate ending for one of my imagines: drunk & disorderly. They can be read separately and in interchangeable order. Link to my master list."
“Shay, we are never drinking that much the night before a shift again. I’m so hungover” you groaned, throwing your head back in exasperation in the passenger seat of the ambulance. You were returning to the station after the first call of the day, and the pounding of your temples was exacerbated with every bump in the road.
“Oh c’mon, Y/N, we can handle a lil hangover” she said jokingly. “Besides, wasn’t that drinking game fun?” She asked in a suggestive tone while wiggling her eyebrows.
“I’m not sure, I can’t exactly remember last night’s events” you giggled, trying to rack your brain for a hint as to how the evening played out.
“Well, what I remember extremely vividly is you and Severide not being able to stop flirting with each other,” Shay said this without taking her eyes off of the road, but you knew she wasn’t as annoyed as she was making herself out to be. She loved the idea of the 2 people she loved the most being together.
“I can’t confirm or deny my actions or the events that occurred last night” you led in a serious note, trying to cover up your schoolgirl crush on Severide in a playful manner.
“Oh, just fuck him already! Blame it on the alcohol!” Shay encouraged, using her hands to help communicate the message. “I know you like him, and who’s to say he doesn’t want you?” she questioned.
“I’m not sure Shay, you would know the most given the fact that you live with him, wouldn’t you? Has he said anything to you??” Turning your entire torso towards her, you suddenly become very invested in the conversation. You had made comments to Shay about how hot Severide is, but you’ve never fully expressed your interest in him.
“My lawyer says no further comment” Shay responds, zipping the imaginary zipper on her lips and throwing away the key.
“Oh come on, Shay!! Help a girl out” you moaned in defeat, crossing your arms in front of your chest despite knowing that what the 2 roommates were discussing was private.
Shay was the person who got you and Kelly close to begin with. Being that you and she were ambulance partners, you went over to their place often, seeing him just as much as you see her.
“He may or may not have said some things about you, but that’s all I can say!” Shay spat out the sentence, picking up the speed as it went on as if the faster she said it, the less of a chance Kelly was to somehow find out.
“Oh, this conversation is NOT over" you responded. You weren’t ready to drop the topic anytime soon, but you had arrived back at the firehouse.
Before you could pester her with further interrogations, you saw a figure as she was pulling into the ambulance bay.
“Who is that?” Shay exclaimed, confused that someone was blocking her.
You squinted your eyes, confident that they were playing tricks on you based on who you were perceiving to be there. Once Shay had driven as close as she could without running them over, you knew your eyes were not deceiving you.
“My dad” you spat angrily, upset that this was your current reality; that a member of your toxic family had followed you to the one good thing in your life.
You were both frozen in the ambulance; you, unsure how to avoid this interaction, and Shay, confused as to how she could help you.
You got out of the ambulance and began making your way inside, pretending that your dad was an invisible man and that his presence had no effect on you. Shay followed suit.
When you walked past him you heard him scoff, and he threw his hands up in the air, resembling confusion.
“You’re just gonna walk past me. No ‘Hi dad, how are you? Long time no see.’” You couldn’t believe what you just heard, but once you partially processed it, you decided that this was indeed your battle to pick today.
You had moved to Chicago from Toronto after applying to the academy, deciding that between your narcissistic and emotionally abusive mother, and your alcoholic dad, it was time to leave; not to run away, but to survive.
Your older brother is a firefighter in Toronto, and you easily could’ve gotten a job at his firehouse, but you had always loved Chicago and decided to bite the bullet.
“You have some nerve.” Slowly turning around to face him, you tried to keep yourself from seeing red. He didn’t deserve to know he got a reaction from you. “Showing up at my place of work unexpectedly and expecting me to give you the time of day.”
“I just want to talk, Y/N.” You started hysterically laughing once you heard what he had said, the anger presenting itself through laughter. Your father was confused as to why you were reacting this way, and quite frankly, so was Shay. She had never seen you so upset.
“Get out of my firehouse. You don’t deserve to be here.”You pointed towards the street, urging him to get out of your sight.
“Y/N just hear me out. I know I don’t deserve it but it’s been so long and I just want to be a part of your life again. Things are different now.” The pounding in your head was starting to become excruciatingly unbearable the further this conversation continued.
You could hear the sounds of squad and truck rumbling down the street and you knew that you needed him to leave before the entire house got back.
“Yeah, things sure as hell are different, I left before I suffocated and you couldn’t give a rat’s ass where I ended up. Until today, a random Saturday morning 2 YEARS after I spoke to you last. I want you to leave, NOW. Don’t make me escalate this situation.” You were sick of people walking all over you- blood-related or not, and you weren’t going to have any of this. Especially not in front of your 51 family.
By the time you finished your spiel, truck and squad were both parked and beginning to filter out, undressing from their turnover gear.
Severide hopped out, pulling his turnover gear down to his waist. He was wearing his lieutenant shirt with suspenders, and his squad 3 baseball cap. He would make subtle glances over, not wanting to make the fact that he was eavesdropping obvious.
“I’m not going anywhere until you decide to give me another chance. Until you let me make things up to you” he pleaded, reeking of desperation.
At this point, heads were turning to observe the interaction.
“I gave you one too many chances, and I’m done. I’m not sure how you didn’t get the hint that I wanted nothing to do with you when I moved countries, but I’m now verbally letting you know that this relationship is over.” You had thought about simply walking into the firehouse but you didn’t want to risk finding out whether he had the gall to follow you.
At this point, a few members of 51 had filtered into the lounge, knowing that they probably weren’t meant to be listening to the conversation. Others took their sweet time getting undressed to keep an eye on the situation.
Severide was especially lingering, always having an urge to protect you against harm’s way. He didn’t know much about the situation given that you kept your past secretive, but knowing how abusive fathers can be, he stood near.
“C’mon, Y/N, you’ve always been so damn stubborn. Do you need to act like this when I’m trying to prove to you that I can be better?” Your dad was genuinely curious as to how you could be so cutthroat towards him as if his drinking didn’t ruin the first 2 decades of your life.
“I don’t think you need to prove anything to her. It’s pretty clear you’re not a part of her life and that she wants it to stay that way.” You didn’t expect to hear Kelly’s voice from behind you all of a sudden.
“Kel, it’s okay. I got this.” You felt torn between wanting him to stand up for you and telling him you can fight your own battles. He stepped closer toward you, and Shay took a couple of steps back, knowing you now had extra protection.
“And who are you?” your father asked, not breaking eye contact with you. His hands were placed on his hips, and by his body language, it was evident that he was not leaving without a fight.
“Lieutenant Severide of 51, and respectfully, I’m asking you to leave my firehouse” Severide stated in a calm but straightforward manner. He crossed his arms and waited intently.
Your dad chuckled in what seemed to be astonishment while shifting his eye contact repeatedly from you to Severide. “Sleeping your way to the top; very typical of you Y/N. I thought you would’ve changed your ways by now” your dad scoffed.
You were beyond pissed off that he was even here right now, but that comment officially made your blood boil. Thinking about what you could say in response, your dad decided to speak up once again.
“Let me ask you, how long have you been fucking my daughter, lieutenant?” He said the last word as if it was dirty.
Kelly stepped right up to him as if he had no fears, something you wish you could’ve warned him about before doing. You were grateful your dad appeared to be sober because if he hadn’t, a brawl would’ve already broken out between them.
“Y/N has been nothing but a talented and competent paramedic with a great amount of expertise in her field. She‘s proven time and time again that she’s a necessary addition to this team, and deserves to be a part of this family- she did that all by herself, no thanks to you. Now get out of my firehouse before the chief gets back and escalates this even further.”
You were blown away by Severide’s words, unaware of his thoughts regarding your presence at 51. He managed to respond in a professional yet serious manner, and he did it with ease, seeming completely unbothered by confrontation. The two men were still face to face, and Kelly was not ready to back down for nothing and no one.
“Whatever.” Your dad hadn’t let Kelly escape his gaze for even a millisecond. “You know, maybe I’d have a bone to pick if I came here out of my own free will. This was just part of my 12 steps. Step 9: Make amends” your dad said with a smirk.
Despite not wanting to hear your father out for anything he had to say, the fact that he was here for his benefit and not out of sincerity was your final straw.
It took you a second to even fathom the possibility that he came here for selfish reasons, but once you did, you couldn’t stop yourself.
You lunged at him and began unleashing. “FUCK YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” Now you solely saw red. While you were attempting to physically release all of your pain onto him, you felt Severide grab onto your waist and rip you off.
Your arms and legs were still thrashing about, despite him being far from your grasp. “Come here, get off of him. It’s okay.” Severide attempted to console you, but you were furious.
“Y/N! Enough, he’s not worth it!!!” You heard Shay shouting from behind you.
Once Severide planted you back on the floor, and you adjusted the stray hairs that had fallen all over your face, you began to catch your breath.
“What the hell’s going on?” Casey shouted from across the apparatus, walking over with his arms out in question. “Is everything okay?” He glanced between Severide - who looked like he was about to punch a wall, his jaw clenched - and you.
“Nothing, he’s just leaving,” you said while trying to slow your breathing and resist the urge to fight once again.
Your father must’ve thought Casey was the chief because he put his arms up in surrender and turned on his heels.
You abruptly turned around and raced your way into quarters as fast as you could, not comprehending what just happened.
Kelly put his hands on his hips, hanging his head low and then glanced back up toward Shay and Casey while squinting. He knew what it was like when family troubles came into the firehouse, so he felt for you. He didn’t like to see you upset, even though his feelings for you hadn’t been confessed.
“Who was that?” Casey asked, looking between Shay and Severide as if the answer lay between them.
Meanwhile, you rushed through the doors between the apparatus bay and the inside of the firehouse heading straight for the bathroom.
Everyone sitting in the lounge immediately shot a glance toward you but didn’t interrupt- you were evidently on a mission, the anger you felt putting a fire under your ass.
You entered the closest stall and closed the lid, taking a seat. The second you did so, the tears automatically began to flow, anger quickly evolving into sadness.
You heard light taps on the stall, not even realizing someone had walked in. “Y/N?” None other than Severide.
“I’m good Kel, I promise. I’ll be out soon” you said, trying to keep your voice from quivering. You didn’t want the man you had a crush on to think you’re a damsel in distress who needs saving.
“Let me in, Y/N. Please.” You think he meant this literally and figuratively. He knew you were lying through your teeth when you said you were okay. “If you don’t want me to come in that’s fine, I’ll stand outside the door, but I’m not leaving you by yourself.” The door jolted and you could tell he was leaning against it, making himself comfortable.
You knew he wasn’t going to leave, given his stubborn character, so you dried up your tears as best as you could with 1-ply toilet paper and unlocked the door.
He stood up and turned around to face you noticing that your eyes were puffy and your face was red.
Kneeling between your legs, he looked up at you grabbing a hold of your chin.
“Are you okay?” He asked intently, scanning your face for any hints of distress.
“I just wasn’t expecting it, Kel. 51 is my only family and I don’t want him to jeopardize that…” Severide urgently nodded in agreement, a sympathetic look on his face. “He won’t” he stated matter o’factly. “I’ll make sure of it.” He was determined to keep you away from your father.
“I’m worried he’s gonna turn back up here, or worse, get you in trouble. It’s not worth you going to the review board because my idiot father reported what happened.” You looked down at him through wet eyelashes, upset that you indirectly put him in this situation.
“He was the unwanted visitor at the firehouse, and everyone can vouch for that. It’s his word against multiple others.” You nodded in hesitant agreement, not fully convinced by his statement.
“Stay at Shay and I’s for a couple of days, maybe reach out to your brother and see if he knew about him coming here. Or if you wanna stay home, I could get Jay to assign a covert car to your street.” Severide offering you options and comforting you is what you didn’t know you needed.
He looked up at you, glancing between each of your eyes while you attempted to make a decision.
“Yeah, I’ll stay with you both. If that’s okay” you responded, sniffling the leftover snot in your nose after finally calming down. Just being in his presence lowered your blood pressure.
He nodded his head. “You good to go back out?” He slowly got up and held out his hand for you to take.
“Thank you, Kel, seriously.” As soon as you stood up, you engulfed him in a hug, the combination of his natural scent and cologne flooding your nostrils.
He rubbed your back up and down, his chin resting on the top of your head. He kissed your head then said, “Don’t sweat it, sweetheart.”

Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 2k
It has been years since you’ve called Chicago home. You decided to move away from the city after the death of your father, Benny Severide, he was everywhere you looked. Mourning him while being surrounded by everything that reminded you of him was impossibly hard. Your brother Kelly, completely supported your decision and had even helped you move. Now that you had fully processed his death, you thought it was time to move back. You decided to call Kelly on your drive over.
“Hey, sis, what’s up?” He said as he picked up the phone, by the loudness of his surroundings you knew he was on shift. “Is now a good time? I can call back later.” You should’ve known by now that he would make time for you no matter what. “You’re all good.” You stop at a redlight and continue your conversation with your brother. “I’m moving back to Chicago, actually I just started driving.” You could hear the happiness in his voice, “I’m so glad you’ll be closer again. Have you found a place yet?” He asks. “No not yet, I figured I would just stay at a hotel until I find a place.” Kelly was quick to respond, “Don’t be ridiculous, you can stay with me and Shay until you find something.” You hear a muffled voice on the other side of the line and then a response from Kelly, “Otis, stop it, she is my sister!” His next words are aimed at you, “Just so you know, 51 is off limits for dating, understood?” You laughed, “You’ve got it. I’ll see you later, bye Kelly.”
You arrived in Chicago after a couple of hours, you felt like walking around for a while before heading over to the address that your brother texted you. It was good to be back, you had always loved it here. You were nearing the cemetery where your dad was buried, contemplating whether you should go visit his grave, ultimately deciding that you were ready. It was the first time you had been here since the day of the funeral, you noticed that the grave was well kept and fresh flowers were standing in a vase next to the headstone. It did you well knowing that Kelly came to visit him, when you weren’t able to. Your next stop was your favorite bar, you needed a drink after this big step.
The ambiance in the bar was exactly as you remembered it. The string lights on the ceiling, the pictures of the locals on the wall, and the laughter and conversation filling the room. You spot a free chair at the bar and claim it. You order a beer, a burger and some fries. “Here you go.” The bartender hands you your beer, “The food will be out shortly.” You smile and thank him. Sipping on the beer, you look around the bar, you love to people watch and what better location than a busy bar? There was a group of older men playing a card game, the table filled with pints of beers. At the pool table you spotted a group, you assumed to be twenty five years old, playing an intense game of pool. You move on to the next part of the bar where you find a woman your age playing a game of darts with a fifty year old man, your eyes linger on the blonde woman. She throws her last dart and cheers, “You owe me a drink, Frank!” You miss the rest of the interaction as your food gets placed in front of you.
You start on your burger and after a few bites the woman stands next to you at the bar. “A beer, please, and can you add it to Frank’s tab?” The bartender looks over to Frank, after a thumbs up he places a beer in front of her. “Smart way to get free drinks.” You comment. “Right?” The woman laughs. “Mind if I sit with you for a moment?” You pretend to think for a moment. “Depends, will you be tricking me into buying you drinks as well?” You joke. The woman is quick to respond, “Don’t worry, I don’t trick pretty girls into buying me drinks.” She raised her beer to cheers it with you. A small blush reaches your cheeks, “Then please take a seat.” She smiles and takes a seat. “I’m Leslie, by the way.” You shake her hand and introduce yourself as well, “Pleasure to meet you, Leslie, I’m y/n.” She smirks, “The pleasure is all mine.”
The two of you fall into conversation easily. You watch as Leslie takes one of your fries, you don't mind at all, but you think it's funny that she just started eating your food. She realizes your eyes on her and realizes what she did. "Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that without asking you first." You place your hand on her knee, stopping her from rambling. "I don't mind, eat as many as you want." Leslie smiles your way, "Okay, but let me buy you your next drink. Another beer?" You tell her that she doesn't have to buy you a drink in return for eating your fries, but she insists. "Okay, but something non-alcoholic like a club soda or something. I have a feeling this will be an evening that I'd like to remember." You say with a subtle wink. Leslie smirks, and orders "Two club soda's, please."
You have just finished your food when Leslie’s favorite song comes on. “Come dance with me, please. This is my absolute favorite song!” Her enthusiasm pulls you over the edge to say yes. She takes your hand and guides you to the middle of the bar. While keeping hold of your hand she starts dancing around, once again her enthusiasm is contagious and you start dancing with her, the whole crowd at the bar disappears and it’s just you and her jumping around, dancing, and laughing. When the song comes to an end Leslie pulls you close, you’re both still breathing hard from the exercise you just did, but neither of you cared and crashed your lips together. You had been thinking of kissing her since the moment she took the seat next to you at the bar, but nothing you had imagined could amount to her lips actually being on yours. You each got carried away in the moment, but got pulled back to reality by the bar crowd cheering and whistling loudly. You look around the room wide eyed, not having expected so many people to watch you make out with someone. Leslie notices and takes your hand once more, “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
After making sure you’re okay with it, she takes you to her apartment two blocks over. Once inside she takes your hand and guides you to her bedroom. She closes the door and pushes you against it, she wastes no time and starts kissing you again. This time without any crowd interruptions you deepen the kiss and soon your hands are exploring each other's bodies. You unbutton her flannel and drop it to the floor, she does the same to your shirt. Next thing you know she’s laying on top of you in her bed. You weren’t typically one to kiss on a first date, let alone go home with a stranger, but with Leslie it was different. The way she was pleasuring you felt more special, more meaningful than a one night stand. You hoped that she felt the same way. When you were both catching your breath, laying down next to each other, Leslie is quick to let you know that she feels the same way. “Please stay the night. I know we did things kind of backwards but I’d love to take you on a breakfast date in the morning.” You smile wide before kissing her softly, “I’d love that too.”
You’re awoken the next morning by Leslie cuddling into your side. You smile with your eyes still closed and wrap your arm around her, cuddling her back. “Good morning.” She says in a raspy morning voice. You say good morning back and the two of you lay in bed cuddling for a little while longer, until Leslie offers you some coffee. Leslie gets out of bed first and grabs a shirt from the floor and puts it on, she looks down and laughs, “This is yours.” You laugh with her, “It looks good on you. Give me your flannel, please.” Leslie walks out of the room in just the shirt and her underwear, so you follow her lead and leave your pants in the room. You follow her into the kitchen and stand next to her at the counter as she fills two cups with coffee. That’s when you hear a door open somewhere in the apartment, you hadn’t exactly gotten as far as talking about roommates last night. You quickly button up the flannel some more, mentally thanking Leslie for the oversized flannel, covering you until mid-thigh. Nothing could’ve prepared you for the next moment, your brother walked into the kitchen. “Kelly?” You question out loud, confused as to what was happening. “Y/n? What are you  doing here?” Leslie looks confused between the two of you. Kelly walks closer and asks another question before you can even answer the first one. “And why aren’t you wearing any clothes?” He then looks over to Leslie, who is also not wearing enough clothes. “Oh no, no, no. I told you not to date anyone from 51.”
Leslie is starting to connect the dots of Kelly’s sister coming to visit and the two of you knowing each other. A laugh escapes her mouth, but she quickly holds it in as Kelly sends her a stern look. “Just so we’re all clear, I did not know she was your roommate or worked at 51. Actually, thinking about it, you told me your roommate's name was Shay, this is Leslie.” Leslie steps closer to you and extends her hand, you take it with a confused look on her face. “Leslie Shay.” She says the laughter she’s holding is still present on her face. “Y/n Severide.” You say defeated. “Okay, now we’ve got that all figured out, I’m going to put some clothes on. Excuse me.” Leslie goes to follow you but is stopped by Kelly grabbing her arm. “Shay, you’re my best friend but she’s my little sister. I don’t know what your intentions are but if you hurt her..” Leslie stops him before he can finish his sentence. “Look, I don’t know what the future holds but I really like her. I’ve never felt this strongly about a person from the start, she’s special, and my intention was to take her out for breakfast this morning, please join us.” She doesn’t leave room for Kelly to respond and walks to her room. She knocks on the door before entering, she finds you sitting on her bed, staring at the floor. “Hey, it’s okay. He might kill me if I hurt you but I don’t intend on hurting you. He’s just being protective, he’ll be fine.” You take a deep breath, “Yeah, you’re probably right. This just wasn’t at all what I expected this morning.” She sits down next to you on the bed and hugs you tight. “I invited him to join us for breakfast, I hope that’s okay. He can’t be mad over food, trust me.”
She was right, Kelly saw the way the two of you were interacting and his worries for you getting hurt eased. He trusted both you and Shay, you were both adults. You just also happened to be the two people he cared the most about in this world, but maybe that was a good thing, his two favorite people meeting and getting along so well. Kelly insisted on paying for breakfast, despite Leslie’s insisting that she’s got it. Leslie leans into your and whispers, I’ll take you on an actual date next time.

comforting them after a bad day [ chicago fire ]
⋯ CHARACTERS ; matt casey, kelly severide, leslie shay, sylvie brett, stella kidd, brian ‘otis’ zvonecek, joe cruz, christoper herrmann, violet mikami, evan hawkins, greg grainger
Tumblr media
⋯ MATT CASEY
when matt has experienced a bad day, he tends to get very quiet. sometimes even a little snippy whenever he’s asked if he’s alright. he recognizes that acting this way isn’t going to make his day any better, but it takes his a little bit. let him clam down, and once he’s done that, he’ll seek you out. quietly apologize for being snippy, and telling you that he’s just had a bad day. you can ask him how his day was -- he’ll tell you everything and at some point, slowly wraps his arms around you and leans his head atop your shoulder. inhaling your scent immediately calms him and he’s already starting to feel better
⋯ KELLY SEVERIDE
kelly tends to let everything build up. almost insisting he is fine and there’s nothing to truly worry about. and no matter how much you push, he’ll maintain the same story. until something just absolutely breaks him and everything that he’s kept bottled up for month finally comes pouring out. he’ll cry -- more of his eyes tearing up as he refuses to let them fall. but he practically falls into your grasp as you pull him into a hug. it’s really all he needs, just the comfort of having you near him as he talks about different things and lays his heart out on the table. card your fingers through his hair and just tell him that ‘it’s gonna be okay’. that’s all he needs for now
⋯ LESLIE SHAY
leslie, much like kelly, can be stubborn when it comes to talking about any bad days. however, she’s different as she’ll give one of the briefest overviews -- almost as if she’s giving a report, and then insist that she’s fine. all of her emotions comes out when she drinks, and you can tell she was anything but fine, considering the amount of drinks she’s already had. she’ll crumble into your arms, looking for your warmth as she begins to babble about her day and everything she was feeling. she’ll cling to you, but it’s truly something she needs as you’ve noticed her start to calm the longer and tighter you hold her
⋯ SYLVIE BRETT
sylvie will seek out comfort after a bad day. honestly, any type of comfort will help, but if given the option, she wants to spend her time cuddled into your side with her head resting either against your shoulder or chest. she doesn’t talk much about her day -- only just to tell you that it wasn’t one she would want to experience again before eventually falling asleep. she feels better with you, nothing you have to do aside from allowing her to cuddle up to you
⋯ STELLA KIDD
stella gets all quiet and short tempered. it almost takes you by surprise, until she makes a comment about her day. to which you ask her what she needs -- as she often wants different things depending on what had taken place. and once she makes her request, you’re dropping everything to do it. often, her go-to answer is to ask to be held in some way. honestly whichever way is comfortable for the two of you at the time.
⋯ BRIAN ‘OTIS’ ZVONECEK
brian is going to get super quiet after a bad day. meaning that whatever had taken place, must have really hit him hard. like most of the others, he will seek you out almost immediately. he needs comfort and wants to decompress from what he experienced for the day. kiss away his tears, hold him tight -- he’ll take literally any form of comfort so long as you are willing to give the time
⋯ JOE CRUZ
joe takes a lot of things to heart, and while he’s been able to keep himself from taking each thing he wasn’t able to do so personally, there are times in which he can’t help but feel that. especially after a bad day. he’ll seek you out, looking for some comfort as he gets the day off his chest. he’ll immediately wrap you up in his arms, tucking his face into your shoulder. he won’t talk about it right away, wanting to see you and tell himself that seeing you is better than any bad day he’s experienced. and while he’ll come clean about his day eventually, he’s just wanting to spend as much time with you as possible
⋯ CHRISTOPHER HERRMANN
christopher tends to get angry -- never directed towards one person, just as his frustration of the day grows, it gathers to a point where he may explode and accidentally take his anger out on the closest person. he realizes that mistake literally seconds later and calms down immediately. taking a few deep breaths before sitting down to tell you. he finds comfort in your touch and will show you by kissing your knuckles before apologizing. he’ll spend the night making it up to you, and in turn, it helps him settle in and finally gain some closure for the day
⋯ VIOLET MIKAMI
violet will put on a brave face and will power through the rest of her shift until she can have a moment to decompress. which is usually once she gets home and she can let her emotions out about her bad day. depending on the scale, there will be tears and she’ll hold onto you tightly as she lets it all out. she wants to be with you, and most likely won’t be getting up from her spot unless you manage to coax her to either eat or take a shower. otherwise, she’ll be content laying against you until she feels ready enough to detach herself form you
⋯ EVAN HAWKINS
if anything, evan grows more frustrated with himself. slowly begins to fall down the rabbit hole of ‘what ifs’. trying to think about what he could have done differently to change the course of the day he’s been having. he’s patience wears a little thinner and sometimes he can be a bit of a pain to have a conversation with. until he gets home and he crumbles, talking your ear off about how his day had been until he practically runs out of breath. he feels better afterward and can usually move past that day but it will always stick with him as he could have done better
⋯ GREG GRAINGER
greg tends grow quiet, almost closing in on himself and trying his best to get through the rest of his shift before going home. the second walks through the door, he’s immediately finding wherever you are in your shared home and latching onto you with already tear blurred eyes. he doesn’t really want to talk about it just yet, just needs to hear you talk gently to him and hold him close. he’’l eventually come clean about what took place, but he needs his own time to think through what had happened

TRUE COLORS - BRIAN "OTIS" ZVONECEK
'Cause my boy Otis deserves better
Summary:When you spend your time at 51, you draw Otis on the sly. Everyone notices it, except him. Until fate gets in the way
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2.5 k
Maybe it's the way he moves his hands. Maybe it's how he moves the dark curls from his face. Maybe it's the way he wrinkles his nose when he's tired after the shift and starts working at Molly's, tirelessly.
Or it's the way he writes, with his head slightly tilted to the left.
It could be just the way the light fits between his features and makes him pure, bringing out his light skin stained by many small moles. Perhaps it's his dark eyes.
You really don't know. You just can't help but drawing him.
You'd like to draw his eyes after you've seen them even closer and realized how deep they really are, because you're sure they are, more than anything else in the world. Or, again, maybe it's the way he curls his lips as he smiles.
It's probably all together and he doesn't even realize it while a few meters away you're crouched on a chair, in a corner of the 51, almost invisible and your hand moves over a sheet and captures his image, without mistakes or smudges. You could be drawing Brian with your eyes closed by now.
"Are you still here?" Your half-sister, Leslie, asks, noticing you. You've been spending a lot of time at the 51 lately (and equally at the Molly's) officially because you're soon to be Boden's new secretary, secondly to spend time with Lesley. What you didn't expect was to find yourself spending most of your free time observing Brian, scribbling his face here and there, forcing yourself from time to time to portray other colleagues as well so as not to arouse suspicion. "Let me work Lesl" You reply, letting the pen run across the paper noisily. "Our Little Artist" Kelly teases you, ruffling your hair.
"When will you set up an exhibition with our portraits?" Herman asks, chuckling. "That wouldn't be a bad idea you know" Mills replies, winking. "Think about it y/n" You smile uneasily.
"I should find better models" You reply as Cruz and Otis - Brian - shake their heads. "Listen to the nonsense" Your eyes meet and you smile at him and he reciprocates before the siren of the imminent call forces him to leave. You sigh.
He fascinates you just like he torments you, you long for him and at the same time you are afraid to get to know him better. There's something sweet, genuine about him and you admire his courage and his work, but at the same time you're terrified because deep down what do you have to offer? What can make you interesting to him? You're just a failed student who needs to work here to make some money, a failed artist who has lost her inspiration, who can't help her sister in a difficult moment, who didn't get a degree, who can't control the emotions.
"You never color it" Boden has noticed one day, admiring your drawings. "I think it would ruin it" You have replied. The truth is that you are convinced that to do this, especially when it comes to Brian, you should need to see the color gradations of his skin, his face, his freckles or his eyes. It is incorrect to portray a subject and complete it inaccurately. You will use color on his drawings when and if you can see him at very close range. Closer than the Molly's counter or the 51. For now you settle for pencil or pen.
Sometimes you dwell too much on his well-defined lips. It's one of the parts you like to draw the most, after the eyes. Then you look at the finished drawing and wonder if you are experiencing something that will never happen, or not experiencing it at all. And with every call they come back with wounded expressions from a difficult intervention and some new scar on the body or the soul ans you wonder if it really makes sense to waste all this time.
It must be said : fate works in a curious way at times.
You're -again- drawing Brian, he's wearing his uniform and he's approaching the truck laughing with Mouch. The 51 is quieter than usual today and there are few calls, an unusual thing but you don't mind. You smile when Brian turns to face you and pretend to be focusing on someone else, momentarily terrified that he will think you're crazy. You place your pen on the table in front of you, tie your hair into a spooky ponytail, then start over with the care you reserve for important things. Brian  sighs, turning back in your direction, Mouch's hand on his shoulder as he shakes his head repeatedly. You wonder what they're talking about, you get the distinct feeling that it's you, and you feel your heart pounding in your chest.
Stupid little girl.
" Someone has a crush" it's a voice behind you. The worst voice you could hear in this situation: Joe Cruz. Brian's best friend, roommate, his other half.
"Of all of us Otis? Why?" Cruz sits across from you, a hand under his chin and an inquisitive expression on his face that does not hide his happy grin. And you're terrified, now there's no way Brian won't know about it now. "I don't have a crush. I draw all of you Cruz" you reply, trying to hide the blush on your cheeks.
"Yeah sure. You draw me once in a while, once of Herman, maybe three times of Kelly because it's particularly handsome, but I'm sure most of them are about Otis." You shake your head.
"What makes you think that?"
"I've been watching you Little Shay. You know, it's pretty obvious. You're not as good as you think at hiding." You open your eyes suddenly and feel your face get hot with embarrassment. Brian's eyes are still fixed on you and this with Cruz's words short-circuit you.
"If I were you I'd make a move" You need some fresh air. You get up and head for the exit, forgetting the notebook with your drawings on the table in a hurry.
When you come back for it, an hour and two cigarettes later, it's gone.
Two days, seven hours and a new notebook later, your half-sister has abandoned you at Molly's, a beer in front of you to finish and the light chatter of the last remaining customers. Someone sits next to you and lets their chair clatter to the floor. You don't turn around and stay focused on the beer because you know all too well who's next to you. Your senses alert, your heart furious. Brian.
"It's amazing" the voice is warm, but slightly high in pitch and secretly insecure. You shrug. "Thank you" you reply. Your brain is so muddy that you don't even wonder what it's referring to
"This is yours" now you look up and you see it. Brian's hand just reaching out to give you back the notebook. You stare at him dumbfounded. You admire the way the light falls on his face, how he smiled lightly and the lips you've always drawn so carefully, even more beautiful at that non-distance. For several seconds you don't say anything, but you stay still to study him, to study his colors, his embarrassed, sweet expression. Everything seems to stop to you.
"Otis, can you close?" Question Herman before leaving the pub, making you awaken and ashamed at the same time, realizing what you're getting into. You take the notebook without saying a word and start to get up and leave, but the boy's hand stops you, gently grabbing you by the wrist. It is soft, despite the hard work his skin is not rough. His warm skin seems to burn yours, leaving invisible marks.
You look at his fingers wrapped around your wrist, then at him, his dark eyes still fixed on you. He lets you go slowly, almost reluctant to break the contactn and you realize that he has the power to make you sit back, without saying a word.
"Sorry," you say sheepishly, looking away and letting your hair fall in front of your face to cover the blush on your cheeks.
"You shouldn't apologize" He replies, continuing to observe you. You feel his hand approaching your face, his fingers lingering near your hair, and you know what he's about to do, and you wish he would. You would like to him slowly pull your hair back, put it behind your ear, to let his big fingers slide against your skin and you would like to tilt your head to one side, to let yourself go to that contact. But he doesn't.
After a few moments he pulls his hand away, thinking maybe he's going too far.
Sure, your notebook is filled with portraits of him, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
"You're good" He whispers. "You're really good little Shay, you shouldn't waste such a talent." You just smile, let a sheepish chuckle leave your lips. Brian doesn't say it, but he feels like he's never heard a better sound in his life. He wonders how he didn't notice it before. Of course, as soon as you arrived at 51 he immediately set his sights on you, but he never really did it with an intention: partly because you are Shay's little sister, partly because he never thought he had any chance despite what Cruz said.
In short, Cruz doesn't always have brilliant intuitions when it comes to women.
Maybe Dawson's jokes could have enlightened him, sure, but anyway...Brian has never been a phenomenon with girls, in a barracks full of men like Kelly Severide why would you have to look at him? And instead you looked at him all the time, drew him so much that it filled entire pages, tracing his features with a pen and making him look much more handsome, bold, courageous, appreciable than he probably was. Because you see him this way.
"At first I didn't know whether to come to you or keep the notebook," he admits. "Then I thought it was a good excuse to talk to you."
"You don't need an excuse to talk to me Brian" you answers automatically, without thinking. He smiles, feels his heart melt in his chest. Hardly anyone calls him Brian, especially at the station.
"I needed to find the courage" he murmurs, clearing his throat. "It's easy in the barracks, between one joke and another but talking... I mean for real... It is different. Especially with someone like you"
"Someone like me?" you raise an eyebrow as he smiles. He is impossibly beautiful as his cheeks turn pink.
"An interesting girl, a curious one. An artist y/n"
"You're the only one who thinks of me like that. Artist."
He shakes his head. "That's not true, we all think so and if you start showing your drawings the whole world would do it" You shyly grab his hand which is still on the table.
"Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me." He hold yours back and intertwines his fingers with yours. He seems made to hold your hand, he seems born to grab you, to keep you close. And you wonder if hugging him gives the same effect, if even his lips are made to kiss yours.
"Listen, y / n ...." he takes on a serious tone of voice and you almost worry.
"Why have you never colored me? I mean, do you see me in black and white somehow? Does my aura tell you something? I'm not an artist, so I don't really know how these things work, but it scared me to death. Do you see me in any strange way?" he looks nervous
"Is that what worries you?"
"What else should?"
"I mean you find the notebook of someone who drew you too many times to count and you're worried about the fact that I don't color you?" you use a hint of sarcasm, realizing this confuses you.
Part of you feared there would be a different reaction, not anger knowing Otis, but at least a detachment, a rebuke. Anyone else would have been upset, but not him, he seems happy. He studies you carefully.
"You think I haven't seen you?" Your eyes widen and total silence envelops you. "What?" You're the one who doesn't understand now.
"Do you really think I haven't noticed that you spent your time looking at me and drawing me?" he shakes his head, amused by your shocked expression  "You've been going on like this for months, aren't you going to pretend that you don't believe me?"
"I..." You can't say more. He laughs and you look at him, and then start laughing , because Brian has written "liar" on his forehead. "No, you didn't understand a damn thing my dear Brian" You retort.
"Oh I don't, but Cruz does. It was just hard to believe"
"And why?"
Brian doesn't answer, he caresses his goatee thoughtfully and you understand that you won't get the truth. Not yet. "Because you're beautiful y/n, people like you fly too many meters higher then me. In short..."
"I've looked at you from the start, Brian." You confess, this time without shame, your will to make him happy is stronger than any embarrassment. You know he needs to know it, to realize his value, for once to be the protagonist, the hero of your story, of your drawings, of your life. Him and no one else.
When silence returns, he turns to you again.
"So? Why didn't you color me?"
"I've never colored you because... I had to see you up close, really close, to be able to color you the way I want" you simply reply and he opens his mouth to say something, but he can't formulate anything, not when you continue. "Modigliani painted empty eyes, without pupils, because he couldn't paint what he didn't know: the souls of the people he was portraying. He only painted those of his partner Jeanne. I suppose it's the same for me. I can't color you without knowing the your true colors, without knowing what undertone your skin is or the paths that the veins form on your body."
Without realizing it, you've started to run your fingertip along his wrist, where the vein pulsates under the skin.
"Do you think." His voice is hoarse, scratched with emotion and excitement. "Do you think you'll give me the chance to let you find out?" He asks shyly. You nod with a slight smile.
"Are you asking me out Brian?"
"I'm asking you for dinner, then let's see what happens."
"Only one?"
"Maybe more than one"

Game of Survival: Part 1
Tumblr media
After tragedy strikes Rafael Barba’s little sister moves back to New York City for a fresh start. Will she be able to move on with the help of her loving big brother and perhaps find happiness with a certain lieutenant  in SVU.
Hey lovlies. I know its been forever, but I had this idea for a series and I just had to write it.
Series takes place at the beginning of season 18 of Law and Order: SVU and has references to One Chicago. Reader is canonicallly bisexual and in her mid-thirties.
Pairings: Olivia Benson x Barba Reader   Sonny Carisi x Rafael Barba
Header belongs to me.
You let out a small sigh as you took in the familiar office that you’d not stepped foot in for over a year. Taking in the cozy office of your older brother you settled on the comfy brown couch knowing it would probably be a while before he came back from court.
He was always busy that didn’t mean that he didn’t have time for you, given you lived hours away and you both worked insane hours.
You usually didn’t hear from each other apart from a weekly phone call whenever you both had time which didn’t seem often these days.
Glancing down at your phone your e/c eyes landed on the different apartment listings that you’d been scanning through.
Nothing had caught your eye in all honesty this had been a spare whim of the moment decision one that you’d not regret.
You’d needed a change. A change had been needed for a while and you’d finally decided it was time, time to head home and start over and get a fresh start so to speak.
Severide and Casey had helped you pack up your things over the weekend and you’d made the long drive from Chicago back to New York with nothing but your car and a small U-Haul.
A deep huff fell from your lips as you found the couch growing more comfortable by the minute the long drive catching up with you.
The next thing you knew you were being startled awake as Rafael’s surprised voice filled your ears stirring you from the dreamless slumber you’d fallen into.
“Y/N? Y/N Wake up. What the hell are you doing here?” Your older brother retorts his voice holding so many questions ever the lawyer.
You groaned opening your eyes finding your big brother of nine years sitting beside you on the couch. He was dressed in one of his well-tailored suits his light brown hair combed back in a neat style.
“Hi, Rafa. Sorry, I fell asleep. It was a long drive. Ummm. I’m back in New York permanently this time. I moved out of Kelly’s place this weekend and drove the twelve and a half hours straight through.” You said knowing your brother was processing what you’d told him his mind was always a step ahead of the conversation.
He knew that the past few years had been hard for you and that ever since the incident you’d been trying to pick up the shattered pieces of your life.
What was left of it. How you’d been able to keep going at all had been a surprise to you.
It was evident the only reason you’d made it this far was the love and support of your family and friends. Those closest to you the people you considered family had helped you through the roughest time of your life they’d helped you pick up the pieces and try to throw your life back together.
Rafael sat there for a moment glancing over at you with a concerned brotherly brow.
He knew it had been hard for you after you’d lost Leslie, you’d been a broken shell of the woman you once were.
The woman who had a ferocity and a fire in you a fierceness that hadn’t dimmed even with the rough life you’d come from had disappeared.
You were softer now than you’d once been quiet and calm, gentle, they’d always been attributes you’d carried yet they seemed to control you these days.
Rafael had been surprised when you’d told him of your plans to go from paramedic to police officer after losing your fiancé several years prior.
He’d worried his mami and abuelita had worried, yet you’d managed to pass through the academy with flying colors and soon became a damn good cop with an even better reputation.
“Well, this is entirely unexpected but it's great to see you Hermana.” Rafael purred pulling you into a tight hug pressing a kiss to your head as you clung to him finding comfort in his embrace.
“I take it you don’t have an apartment or anything settled out yet which is fine. You can stay with me until you find a place.”
“But what about Son-“ You started not at all wanting to impose on your brother and his boyfriend who was over at Rafael’s so much you were surprised that your brother hadn’t asked him to move in yet.
That wasn’t any of your business and you really weren’t the best person to come to when it came to relationships or relationship advice.
Your big brother’s voice filled your ears startling you from your thoughts that had been getting away from you over the past few weeks.
That’s another reason you’d decided to move the city was too different, too quiet, and no matter where you look Leslie was everywhere.
A change had been necessary, you’d wanted to heal actually heal, and being with your family had seemed like the best way to go about that.
“Oh don’t worry about Sonny. You know he loves you. You’ve gotten along. You staying with me won’t be an issue.
I’m sure you’d much rather stay with me than mami anyways.” He chuckled knowing your mother would have his head if she heard his comment.
“Alright, Rafa I’ll stay with you if you insist.” You sighed pulling out of your big brother’s hold rolling your eyes at him.
Rafael could be many things a sassy pain in the ass for starters, but he’d been the best big brother ever since Lucia had taken you in and adopted you when you were eight years old.
Even though Rafael was nine years older he’d always made time for you and though you were close with your mother you and Rafael had been thick as thieves for as long as you could remember.
“I do insist just like I insist on taking you to lunch. Come on. When’s the last time you’ve had a decent meal?” Your big brother quipped raising the infamous Barba brow in your direction.
A sigh fell off your lips Rafael knew you better than anyone having a little sister who was a first responder and working the crazy hours you did you’d often forgotten to eat.
“Last night…” The words tumbled out of your mouth as Rafael’s face hardened giving you a knowing expression forcing a deep huff from your lips as you continue.
“Okay technically it was the night before Herman and the rest of the gang threw me a going away party at Molly’s.” The words tumbled out of your mouth as you stood standing to your feet as Rafael walked you out.
The light brown-haired man rolled his eyes knowing an order of your favorite Chinese food was calling your name.
“Come on let's get some food into you before you blow away or pass out on me.” Rafael sighed throwing an arm around your shoulders as he led you toward the elevators.
“Rafa I’m fine. You act as though I don’t eat. Trust me when I can I do. You know this. I have the Barba genes maybe not literally but metaphorically.
With Abuelita and Mami’s cooking, it was only a matter of time before I become a foodie just like yours truly.” The words tumbled from your mouth as you gave the man a once over followed by your first real smile ever since you’d stepped foot back into your hometown.
“I’m not a foodie.” Your brother sassed knowing that he actually was a foodie and when he’d started dating Sonny that had only intensified. It didn’t help the chatty Italian man was an exceptional cook and one of his main love languages was acts of service.
You were grateful that Rafael had found someone like Sonny, he was warm and loving and made sure that Rafael was taken care of and you appreciated it more than he’d ever know.
It had been hard being away from your family for so many years, but when the opportunity presented itself to move to Chicago alongside joining Firehouse 51 you’d been unable to say no.
Back then you’d been a fresh-faced twenty-four-year-old who was ready to pursue your dream of being a paramedic and saving lives.
Now after a decade in Chicago you were back in New York for a fresh start you knew this would be good for you and that’s what Leslie would have wanted for you as well.
She’d have wanted you to be happy and continue your life not wallowing in the grief that had been all-consuming for the past two years.
You owed it to yourself and you owed it to her to find happiness again. That’s what she’d wanted for you to enjoy living again even with her gone.
It was the only way you knew to keep her memory alive. You needed to start living again and maybe in time you would.
Going out for dinner with your big brother was a good start you felt much calmer as you leant into Rafael’s side glad that you had such a strong support system behind you.

—— “Ready big bro? Boden’s about to carve the turkey,” You asked, leaning on Kelly’s doorframe.
“I’ll be right there, just finishing this run sheet.”
“Better hurry up, you know how Boden likes everyone to watch his magic.”
A small chuckle left your mouth as you walked towards Matt’s quarters.
“Turkey time, Baby,” you smiled, leaning over to give him a secretive peck on the lips.
“I’m ready for another kinda time,” he smirked.
“Not right now baby, Boden’s waiting, something about turkey magic.” You pulled him away from his desk and practicality dragged your husband to the common room.
“Casey, Severide, finally,” Boden groaned, “where’s the other Severide?”
“I told Kelly it was chow time just a m-“
You were cut off by your brother slipping in behind you and taking a seat at the table.
“Let’s eat before these damn bells go off,” Boden announced.
As the firehouse passed around the bowls and platters of the thanksgiving feast truck prepared, Matt couldn’t help, but keep smirking in your direction.
“Severide,” Joe called out.
Both you and Kelly popped your heads up from your plates.
“Which one?” Kelly joked.
“PIC Severide. Pass the potatoes.”
You passed the potatoes as Matt kept smirking in your direction.
As the firehouse finished their meals, you called out, “squad’s on dish duty, right?”
“Thanksgiving doesn’t count, that’s a team sport,” Capp argued.
“I say it still counts,” Joe smiled, getting up from his seat.
“Works for me,” Herrmann announced, pushing away from the table.
Truck and Engine, along with you and Shay quickly left the common room as to not be recruited to dry what seemed like millions of dishes.
“Got a minute,” you asked Matt, a devilish grin across your face.
“Hell yeah I’ve got a minute.”
Pulling you into his quarters, he closed the blinds and locked the door behind you as you pulled him into a very passionate make out session. Your hands in each others hair giving you flashbacks to you at 16 with the boy down the road.
With you pulling his shirt off and him pulling off yours, you were fully in the not safe for work category. You were unbuttoning your pants as there was a knock on the door.
You quickly threw your shirt back on and through the blinds, you could tell the shadow on the other side of the door belonged to your brother.
“Casey, you seen my sister?” He knocked.
Matt panicked and threw on his shirt and opened the door before you could tell him he put it out inside out.
Kelly looked at Matt’s shirt and the flushed look on your face.
“Well aren’t you two celebrating the life of that bird?” He shook his head.
“What’s up Kelly?” You asked, attempting to fix your hair.
“Boden wanted to see you, but it’s not urgent if you want to get back to what you were doing.”
Fixing yourself up, you walked out of Matt’s quarters, only to hear Kelly laugh behind you.
“You’re doing it at the firehouse now?” He chuckled.
“We didn’t do anything, you interrupted us,” Matt fired back.
You were just out of earshot now, so you couldn’t hear them, but when you looked over your shoulder, you could tell they hadn’t changed topics.
Just as you were reaching the bullpen, dispatch announced your next call, “Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3, car accident, 555 West Halstead.”
You turned around and started your jog towards the app floor. Shay was already in the drivers seat when you got there, pulling 61 into the street before you could even get your seat belt on.
About two minutes before the accident site, you hit traffic. Heavy, After-dinner, thanksgiving traffic. Lights, horns and sirens weren’t enough to make traffic move even an inch.
“61 how far out are you?” Matt called over the radio.
“Two minutes, but we’ve hit stand-still traffic,” you sighed.
“Call for another ambo, we’re in bad shape over here.”
“61 to Main, we’re stuck in traffic and unable to take in the West Halstead call. Requesting another ambo for truck and squad assist,” you radioed into dispatch.
“Ambulance 90 is 20 minutes out,” dispatch replied.
“Casey, did you get that?” You asked.
“Yeah, do what you can to get here quickly. We’ve got a victim in labor,” he replied.
You motioned to Leslie to try the horns and siren again.
“No luck,” she announced, frustrated and banging on the steering wheel.
“How’s she doing?” You asked Matt.
“Contractions are about two-ish minutes apart.”
“Matt she’s going to need to start pushing. Get all the blankets and the med kit from the truck. You’re going to have to deliver there.”
Leslie looked over to you, shocked at what you just said.
“Are you sure you want him to do that?” She whispered.
“We don’t have much of a choice,” you whispered back, “plus it’s Matt. He’s a natural.”
“We’re ready here,” Casey told you.
“Ok on her next contraction, I need you to tell her to push. Keep her focused on this baby.”
“I don’t know if I can do this, Severide.”
“You have to.”
Several minutes went by without communication from Matt. Finally, over the radio, you could hear screaming from the laboring mother.
“How’s she doing, Matt?”
“Baby’s about half way. Next contraction is about to start.”
The traffic in front of you started to ease enough so Shay could maneuver around it.
“Casey, we’re on our way. A minute out,” Shay announced.
“I shouldn’t stop right?” He asked.
“Keep going, Casey. We’ll take over when we get there. Once the baby is born, dry it off and hand it to the mother.”
Shay was focused, her knuckles white from the amount of force she was putting on them, trying to make sure you got to this victim.
Pulling up to the accident seen, you saw Matt by the passenger door of a mangled car.
“Baby is here,” Matt called out over the radio.
Grabbing the jump bag, monitor, oxygen and stretcher, you and Shay rushed to Matt’s side.
“Casey, we’re gonna load and go,” you informed him.
“We didn’t have anything to cut the cord,” he was breathing heavily.
As you truck helped you with loading the victim, you reassured Matt.
“You did good. Congrats, Casey,” you smiled, shutting the ambulance doors behind you.
——
Arriving back to the house late, you flopped into your bunk and fell right to sleep. You were blessed with no overnight calls to end the shift, so you could actually get a little sleep, a rarity on shift.
When you woke up, you quickly packed your duffel bag and met Matt out front.
“Ready?” He asked.
“Yeah, let’s go,” you smiled, “maybe some uninterrupted time?”
Matt shot you a look.
“Is that a yes?” You asked, getting in his truck.
“Definitely,” he grinned, starting the truck.
As you arrived back at your apartment, Matt had a look on his face.
“What’s on your mind?” You asked, plopping down on the couch.
“That call.”
“The car accident?”
“Yeah. I delivered a baby on a road today,” he rushed.
“I’m so proud of you.”
“I think we should have a baby,” he paced.
“What?”
“Yeah, you and me. We could do it, I know we can.”
“Matt, I-“
“Baby, we’d be so good-“
“Matt!” You yelled, cutting him off mid sentence.
“What?”
“I don’t know if I’m ready to have a baby,” you admitted.
“What?”
“I’m finally in a good spot at 51. I finally made PIC. I don’t want to take time off right now. I know you want to have a baby.”
“Yeah, I do,” he said, firmly.
“I don’t know if I can have a baby with you right now.”
He grabbed his duffel off the floor and started walking towards the door.
“Where are you going?” You got up from the couch.
“You can’t drop a bomb like that on me and expect me to just sit here. I’m going to Kelly’s.”
The apartment door shut with a bang. All you could think was “was this a mistake?”

KELLY SEVERIDE MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“Yo, Sev.”
Kelly blinked back at his best friend who was now sitting across from him. A look crossed Matt’s face as he turned back to see what or who Kelly had been watching, before a small smile flit across his face.
“You know…” Matt started, but Kelly shook his head, cutting him off.
“We are not doing this again.” Kelly told his best friend.
You glanced over your shoulder, your eyes finding Kelly naturally where he was talking to Matt, before Gabby motioned towards you and you slid off your chair to head towards her and Sylvie, just for a bit.
Matt glanced back one last time, just as Gabby had called you away before he turned back towards Kelly.
You and Kelly had been friends for a long time and Kelly had been carrying feelings for you for a long time. Kelly still remembered Shay nagging him about it as if it was yesterday and he knew if Shay was here now she’d already be kicking his non-moving ass. But the timing had never seemed right.
Every single time that he’d thought of telling you, something had gotten in the way. So somewhere along the way, Kelly had somehow convinced himself that the universe was telling him not to do it. Besides, it felt stupid to rock a peaceful boat.
Matt was in the middle of his sentence when Kelly frowned, his head swiveling back towards the bar.
“Seriously, Sev, you…” Matt’s voice trailed off as he saw what had caught Kelly’s eye.
A sandy-haired guy was now leaning casually against the bar, where your unattended drink lay as he looked around, before he dropped a pill into your drink, the tablet fizzling in your beer now.
“That did not just…” Matt glanced at Kelly, speaking in a low voice.
Kelly pushed his chair backwards and swam through the crowd of people that were entering Molly’s now, reaching you just as you’d returned back to your original seat and put the glass up to your lips, the guy long gone.
Kelly snatched it back out of your hands and away from you, the liquid sloshing around in your glass.
“What the hell, Kelly?” You growled, pulling back a little when you noticed the look in his eyes. “What?”
Kelly cast a dark look behind him but the guy had been lost in the crowd. Matt came up to him, shaking his head and Kelly looked back down at the drink.
“Get her out of here. I’ll call Antonio.” Matt said, patting Kelly’s shoulder.
You raised your eyebrows, exchanging a confused look with Gabby before Kelly practically shoved you out of Molly’s, which wasn’t easy in the first place since the place was packed.
As the cold outside air hit you, you spun around to look at Kelly. “Will you tell me what’s going on now?”
You didn’t sound as harsh as you had inside because there was a look in his eyes that told you he wasn’t trying to be funny.
Kelly glanced down at you. “I told you not to leave your drinks unattended.” His voice was reproachful but you could hear he was worried.
“I… wait, what?”
Kelly gave you a pointed look, glancing down at the empty street. “Come on, let’s go.”
Being roommates had its perks, you mused as Kelly fell into step next to you, letting go of your elbow when he realized he was still holding onto you and that you were sober.
You glanced up at Kelly but he was looking straight ahead and you just smiled to yourself, catching yourself wondering why you were still hopelessly in love with your best friend when you knew that he would never see you as anything more than that.
Tumblr media
Antonio had called Matt and Kelly to let them know that based on the footage Herrmann had provided them, the limited eyewitness accounts and the MO, this was a guy that Intelligence had been trying to find in connection with a couple of sexual assaults, adding that if they were lucky they could add kidnapping to the existing charges.
But this guy was smart. He’d made sure to only strike in crowded bars, where women were alone or easily distracted. There were limited eyewitness accounts, and bars made it easy for friends to overlook someone who’d disappeared since she could easily have gone off willingly with a date.
Kelly glanced at his watch as he headed up to Molly’s. He was a little later than he would have liked but he’d been held back by a case from OFI.
Molly’s was packed as usual for a Friday night and he frowned when he didn’t spot you immediately so he headed towards the bar. Maybe you’d taken off because he was late.
“Dawson, you seen Y/N tonight?”
Gabby looked up from where she was quickly mixing a drink. “Yeah, she’s right…” Her voice trailed off as her eyes found your empty chair.
Kelly glanced in that direction, noticing your phone lying on the table.
“She was right there a second ago.” Gabby told him. “Kelly, I’m sorry we’re swamped tonight and I…”
Kelly shook his head. “I’m gonna go look for her. If anyone in Intelligence or Casey comes in…”
Gabby nodded quickly, as Kelly disappeared towards the back.
He’d barely taken two steps out towards where the dumpsters were when he caught a movement, the same sandy hair he recognized from a week ago, with you slumped against his body as he tried to push you into a car.
Damn it.
“Hey!”
Kelly charged towards them as the guy tried his best to remain nonchalant.
“Can I help you? As you can see, I'm trying to take my girl home.” He said, glancing down at you before back at Kelly. "You know how it is."
A low growl escaped Kelly’s lips. “Get your hands off her.” Kelly leaned forward to take your hand, tugging you out of the stranger’s grasp and into his arms, amid your mumbled protests about getting into a car.
Kelly tightened an arm around you as the guy glanced down the street warily and he tugged you further back, away from the stranger.
“I suggest you don’t get involved.” He warned Kelly. “Just mind your own business.”
His arm still holding you tightly against him, Kelly growled. “She is my business. She is my girl, you picked the wrong ass target.” He glanced down at you before sweeping his head back up to look at the guy standing in front of him now, feeling the anger course through his body.
The guy stepped forward and Kelly growled in warning. On any other day, Kelly could take this guy down but now with you in tow…
Kelly stiffened, angling his body to try to shield you, before the sirens hit, the truck that Kelly recognized as Jay’s pulling up right at the front of the alley, as shouts of “Chicago PD!” came from all sides.
Kelly exhaled, putting another arm around you to steady you, as your head lolled against him.
“You guys okay?” Antonio turned to glance at Kelly as Adam shoved the guy against his own car and cuffed him.
Kelly glanced down at you. “Y/N, you with me?”
You mumbled something and Kelly shook his head. “That son of a bitch gave her something.”
Antonio nodded at Jay to take the both of you to Med straight away and Kelly swept you easily into his arms and into Jay’s truck, before Jay pressed down on the accelerator heading straight for the hospital.
Tumblr media
Kelly glanced at you, lying in bed, your eyes still closed.
Will had already been by to explain that the dosage hadn’t been high but that they’d flushed out the residual drugs in your system.
“We’re getting fluids into her system. Her vitals are strong, she should be fine.”
Kelly looked up when there was a knock at the door and Jay slipped in.
There was silence for a beat before Kelly spoke. “So what happened, Jay? Did Dawson call?”
“We'd already narrowed him down as a suspect, but we couldn’t arrest him with nothing. So we’d been tracking him.”
Kelly glanced at Jay now. “So what, Y/N was bait?”
Jay put his hands up. “Woah, Kelly. Not by a long shot.” He paused. “We didn’t expect him to hit the same bar, or the same girl. We already had a tracker on him, so when we noticed him heading for Molly’s, we hightailed it there. As far as I know, Gabby called while we were already on the way.”
Kelly glanced down at you before he glanced up and nodded. “Sorry.” He paused. “And thanks. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it with her unconscious and this guy…”
Jay patted Kelly on the shoulder, just as you stirred.
“Y/N?” Kelly’s head snapped up and Jay nodded, quietly leaving the room to give the both of you some privacy.
Your eyes fluttered open, before you sat up with a shock. “Wait, what… Kelly?”
“Shhh, it’s okay. We’re at Med, alright?”
You felt your heart rate slow, conscious of the fact that your hand was held tightly in Kelly’s. “I…”
Kelly gave you a look. “I thought we agreed to be careful with our drinks.”
“I was.” You argued, though your voice was still soft as your head pounded. “I swear, I didn’t leave my drink unattended. I don’t even… wait.”
Kelly raised an eyebrow, moving closer towards you. “There was this guy…” You said, looking up at Kelly. “He was hovering around me, maybe I took my eyes off for like a second, I… I’m sorry, Kelly.”
Kelly couldn’t even find it in himself to be mad at you like he normally would be, his features softening as he sighed. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
You gave him a small smile, pausing before you glanced at him. “Did you mean it?”
“Hmm? What?” Kelly asked a little absentmindedly, turning to see if he could spot Will.
“What you said to that creep.”
Kelly froze, realizing that you hadn’t been totally out of it.
You hadn’t. In fact, you’d been awake for most of it, just lightheaded, lethargic, and feeling like you couldn’t control your own body.
Kelly exhaled, realizing he was screwed. He didn’t have much of a choice right now. So even with the irrational worry that something was going to go wrong, or the fear that this would change things between the both of you forever, he took a deep breath and glanced back down at you, right into your eyes.
“Every word, Y/N. Every word.”
You felt your stomach tumble inside you, and heard your heart rate increase from the machine sitting right next to you that was totally betraying you right now.
“Kelly…”
Kelly shook his head. “Look, I don’t want you to feel burdened by my feelings. Nothing has to change, we just…”
“Kelly Severide.” You interrupted him.
Kelly blinked back at you.
“For once, will you let me finish before you jump like twenty steps ahead?” You nagged, although a small smile appeared on your face. “I’ve always wanted to be that person.”
“What?” Kelly frowned, confused.
“Your person.” You clarified. “Always. Shay wouldn’t leave me alone about it.”
A look crossed over Kelly’s face that told you he finally got what you were saying and he smiled, closing the distance between you and pressing his lips firmly on yours, one hand cupping the side of your face.
“Finally.” You could almost hear Shay’s voice ring out in your ears.
You smiled against Kelly’s touch, as he pulled away and you looked back into his green eyes before he leaned down for a hug. “I love you.” He whispered, pressing his lips onto your temple now.
“I love you too, Kelly Severide. Always have." You whispered, as you saw Kelly smile.

Can u write an imagine with Kelly ? Where Yn father is an alcoholic and she hasn’t talked to him in years and he just turns up to the firehouse and stalks her ? X
Drunk & Disorderly (Kelly Severide x Reader)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Your alcoholic father shows up at the firehouse, persistent on making amends.
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol abuse, mentions of throwing up, violence, swearing, drunk driving, Kelly being protective AF <3.
Word Count: 4k
“Shay, we are never drinking that much the night before a shift again” you groaned, throwing your head back in exasperation.
“Oh cmon, Y/N, we can handle a lil hangover” she joked with you. “Besides, wasn’t that drinking game fun?” She asked you the question in a suggestive tone, wiggling her eyebrows in the process.
“I’m not sure, I can’t exactly remember last night’s events too well” you giggled, trying to rack your brain for a hint as to how the night played out.
“Well what I remember extremely vividly is you and Severide not being able to stop flirting with each other.” Shay said this without taking her eyes off of the road, but you knew she wasn’t as annoyed as she was making herself out to be. She loved the idea of the 2 people she loved the most getting together.
“I can’t confirm or deny my actions or the events that occurred last night” you led in a serious note, trying to cover up your high-school-like crush on Severide in a playful manner.
“Oh just fuck him already, Y/N! Blame it on the alcohol!” Shay encouraged, using her hands to help communicate the message. “I know you like him, and who’s to say he doesn’t want you. You’re a hot piece of ass!” she questioned.
You chuckled at her flirtatious comment. “I’m not sure Shay, you would know the most given the fact that you live with him, wouldn’t you? Has he said anything to you??” You questioned, suddenly becoming very invested in the conversation and her response. You had made comments to Shay about how hot Severide is, but you’ve never fully expressed your interest in him.
“My lawyer says no further comment” Shay responds, zipping the imaginary zipper on her lips and throwing the key.
“Oh cmon, Shay!! Help a girl out” you moaned in defeat, knowing that what the 2 roommates discuss is not for you to know.
Shay was actually the person who got you and Kelly close to begin with. Being that you and her were ambulance partners, you went over to their place a lot, so you see him just as much as you see her (pretty often).
“He may or may not have said some things about you, but that’s all I can say!” Shay spat out the sentence, picking up the speed as it went on, as if the faster she said it the less of a chance Kelly was to find out.
“Oh this conversation isn’t over" you responded, pointing your finger. You weren’t ready to drop the topic anytime soon, but you were back at the firehouse.
Before you could pester her with more interrogations, you saw a figure as she was pulling into 51.
“Who is that? He’s standing in the middle of the ambulance bay!” Shay exclaimed, confused that her driveway was being blocked.
You squinted your eyes, confident that they were playing tricks on you based on who you were registering to be there. Once Shay had driven as close as she could without running them over, you knew without a doubt who the person standing before you was.
“My dad” you spat angrily, upset that this was your current reality; that a member of your toxic family had followed you to the one good thing in your life.
You were both frozen in the ambulance; you, unsure how to avoid conversation with your father, and Shay confused as to how she can help you.
You got out of the ambulance and began making your way inside, pretending that your dad was an invisible man and that his presence had no effect on you. Shay followed suit.
When you walked past him you heard him scoff, and he threw his hands up in the air, resembling confusion.
“You’re just gonna walk past me. No ‘Hi dad, how are you. Long time no see.’” You couldn’t believe what you just heard, but once you partially processed it, you decided that this was indeed your battle to pick today.
You had moved to Chicago from Toronto after applying to the academy, deciding that between your narcissistic and emotional abusive mother, and your alcoholic dad, it was time to leave: not to run away, but to survive.
Your older brother is a firefighter in Toronto, and you easily could’ve gotten you a job at his firehouse, but you had always loved Chicago and decided to bite the bullet. It was time for a change.
“You have some nerve.” Slowly turning around to face him, you tried to keep yourself from seeing red. He didn’t deserve to know he got a reaction from you. “…Showing up at my place of work unexpectedly, and expecting me to give you the time of day.”
“I just want to talk, Y/N.” You started hysterically laughing once you heard what he had said, the anger presenting itself through laughter. Your father was confused as to why you were reacting this way, and quite frankly, so was Shay. She had never seen you so upset.
“Get out of my firehouse. You don’t deserve to be here” you pointed towards the street, urging him to get out of your sight.
“Y/N just hear me out. I know I don’t deserve it but it’s been so long and I just want to be a part of your life again. Things are different now.” He scratched the back of his neck, a hint of nervousness evident.
You could hear the sounds of squad and truck rumbling down the street from afar, and you knew that you needed your dad to leave before the entire house got back.
“Yeah things sure as hell are different, I left before I literally suffocated in that house, and you couldn’t give a rats ass where I ended up. Until apparently today, a random Saturday morning 2 YEARS after I spoke to you last. I want you to leave, NOW. And don’t make me escalate this situation.” You were sick of people walking all over you- blood-related or not, and you weren’t going to have any of this.
He would take quick glances over to you, not wanting to make it obvious that he was eavesdropping.
“I’m not going anywhere until you decide to give me another chance. Until you let me make things up to you” he pleaded, reeking of desperation.
At this point, people’s attentions were getting grabbed, and heads were turning over to observe the interaction.
“I gave you 1 too many chances, and I’m done. I’m not too sure how you didn’t get the hint that I want nothing to do with you when I moved countries, but I’m now verbally letting you know that this relationship is over.”
At this point, a few members of 51 had filtered into the lounge, knowing that they probably weren’t meant to hear what was going down. Others took their sweet time getting undressed, most likely because they were trying to keep an eye on you.
Severide continued to tune into the conversation, always having an urge to protect you against harm’s way. He didn’t know much about the situation given that you kept your past very secretive, but recognizing what an abusive father is like, he stood near.
“Cmon, Y/N, you’ve always been so damn stubborn. Do you really need to act like this when I’m trying to prove to you I can be better?” Your dad was genuinely curious as to how you could be so cutthroat towards him, as if his drinking didn’t ruin the first 2 decades of your life.
Shay shot Severide a look that read ‘what do we do?’.
“I don’t think you need to prove anything to her. It’s pretty clear you’re not a part of her life and that she wants it to stay that way.” You didn’t expect to hear Kelly’s voice from behind you all of a sudden. “Kel, it’s okay. I got this.” You felt a mix between wanting him to stand up for you, and proving that you can fight your own battles. He stepped closer towards you, and Shay took a couple of steps back, knowing you had even extra protection now.
Your dad chuckled in what seemed to be astonishment. “Sleeping your way to the top, very typical of you Y/N. I thought you would’ve changed your ways by now” your dad scoffed.
You were beyond pissed off that he was even here right now, but that comment officially made your blood boil. Thinking about what you could possibly say in response, your dad decided to speak up once again.
“Let me ask you, how long have you been fucking my daughter, lieutenant?” He said the last word as if it was dirty.
Kelly stepped right up to your father as if he had no fears in the world, something you wish you could’ve warned him about before doing. You were grateful your dad appeared to be sober, because if he had come inebriated, a brawl would’ve already broke out between them.
“Y/N has been nothing but a talented paramedic with a great amount of expertise in her field. She‘s proven time and time again that she’s a necessary addition to this team, and deserves to be here- she did that all by herself, no thanks to you. Now get out of my firehouse before the chief gets back and this gets worse for you.”
You were absolutely blown away by Severide’s words, unaware of his thoughts regarding your time at 51. He managed to respond to your father’s comment in a professional yet serious way, and he did it with ease, appearing completely unbothered with confrontation. He was still face to face with your father, not ready to back down for nothing and no one.
“Whatever.” Your dad hadn’t let Kelly escape his gaze for even a millisecond. “I came here as part of my 12 steps anyways. Step 9: Make amends” your dad said with a smirk.
Despite not wanting to hear your father out for anything he had to say, the fact that he was here for his benefit, and not out of sincerity, was your final straw.
It took you a second to even fathom the possibility that he came here for selfish reasons, but once you did, you couldn’t stop yourself.
You lunged at him and began unleashing. “FUCK YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” Now you seriously only saw red. While you were attempting to physically release all of your pain onto him, you felt Severide grab onto your waist and rip you off of your father.
Your arms and legs were still thrashing about, despite your father being away from your grasp. “Come here, get off of him. It’s okay.” Severide tried to console you, but you were absolutely furious.
“Y/N! Enough, he’s not worth it!!!” You heard Shay shouting from behind you.
Once Severide knew you were done putting up a fight, he planted you back on the floor. You adjusted the stray hairs that had fallen all over your face and began to catch your breath.
“What the hell’s going on?” Casey shouted from across the apparatus, walking over with his arms out in question. “Is everything okay?” He glanced between Severide - who looked like he was about to punch a wall, his jaw clenched- and you.
“Nothing, he’s just leaving.” You said while trying to catch your breath, and resisting the urge to fight once again.
Your father must’ve thought Casey was the chief, because he put his arms up in surrender, and turned on his heels.
You immediately went into the driver’s seat of the ambulance to fully park it into the bay, as if your father were never here.
Kelly put his hands on his hips, hanging his head low and then glancing back up towards Shay and Casey, squinting at them. He knew what it was like when family troubles came into the firehouse, so he felt for you. He didn’t like to see you upset, even though his feelings for you haven’t been confessed.
“Who was that?” Casey asked, looking between Shay and Severide as if the answer lay between them. Severide gave him a ‘I’ll tell you later look’, motioning towards you with his eyes.
Once you had parked, you opened the ambulance doors and began doing inventory. This was always how you distracted yourself against your mental struggles; pouring yourself into your job (and vodka into shot glasses).
Severide knew you were going to say you were fine if he asked - even though you weren’t - so he gave you space. Severide and Casey headed into the firehouse, and Shay joined you in the back. She sat down on the stretcher and looked at you hesitantly.
“Let’s just get through the rest of this shift, Shay” you looked at her, feeling her eyes burning into you with concern. She nodded in agreement.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oh myyy- Shay!!!!!! Do you remember that call- that- that” you couldn’t even get the words out, your drunken self barely able to comprehend reality. You completely forgot what you were saying because you were trying very hard to focus on pouring your shot.
You had went back to Shay and Severide’s place after work, ready to get fucked up and forget about the day’s events.
Once you had finished pouring a - very large - shot, you walked back over to the couch to continue your story. “Kel, you’re going to pee your pants when you hear this.” You looked over at him and he nodded, anticipating your story. What your beer goggles were concealing was the look of concern on his face.
He was leaning back into the couch, one arm around the back of it. His other hand held a bottle of beer, which he had barely taken a sip out of- intentionally staying sober given your altered state.
Shay got up as soon as you made it to the couch, grabbing the vodka bottle from the counter in an attempt to hide it. Severide saw what she was doing and attempted to distract you. “Okay, tell me this story Y/N” he chuckled, motioning you to sit down and face him.
“I need more alcohol in order to get this out” you chuckled in response, clinking your shot glass against his very full beer - causing both your drinks to spill - and sending your head flying back to down the Ciroc. Severide rubbed your back when you were done- seeing the look on your face he knew it couldn’t of gone down well.
It’s not that they wanted you to get to these state of drunken toxicity- they didn’t want to send you in spiral by telling you to stop. You were a party girl, but they had never seen you get to this point.
“Shay! Shay, I’m about to tell the story” you eagerly called her over, your hands signalling that you wanted her to come closer.
The sudden eager movements you made caused the room to spin, despite you being seated, and you felt a wave of nausea. “You okay?” Shay asked, walking over as you had asked, and immediately noticing the pale look on your face.
“I’m-” you were interrupted by a burp, and the urge to spill your stomach’s content. “I’m fine- help me tell this story” you giggled, ignoring the sick feeling. If you paid too much attention to it, you knew it would make you feel worse.
“And what story is that, Y/N” Shay looked over to you, a smile on her face as she brushed a stray hair out of your face. She was worried about her best friend, and she could tell that Severide was too.
“A coupl- Oh god” You didn’t even hesitate, you just made a run for the closest bathroom, knowing it was inevitable. You made it to Kelly’s en-suite and un-ate the pizza slices you had a few hours before. Kelly immediately ran after you, seeing you crouched next to the toilet bowl. He knelt down to gather your hair in his hands and began to softly rub your back. “It’s okay” he whispered soothly.
Shay was leaning against the door frame of the bathroom with a glass of water. She leaned over and handed it to Kelly, who encouraged you to drink your first non-alcoholic/ caffeinated beverage of the day. “Here love. Drink this.” He held up the cup to your lips, helping your weak body to drink.
The sudden influx of liquid triggered your stomach to un-eat a second time. Severide was right behind you the entire time, making sure your hair was out of your face. “Can you wet this Shay?” He handed her a face towel from his towel rack, planning to put it on your neck and cool you down.
Once you were done, you felt absolutely exhausted. You leaned back onto Severide’s chest, your head falling to the side and your eyes closing. He looked at Shay with a look of worry but also relief, knowing that sleeping was a better result than putting yourself at a higher risk for alcohol poisoning.
He picked you up and walked over to his bed, gently placing you in the middle. Grabbing a blanket to drape over you, he made sure you were on your side in case you got sick again.
Him and Shay both walked out of the bedroom, deciding to let you rest.
“That was bad, Kelly.” Shay started pacing around, running her hands across her face and through her hair in stress. “I’ve never seen her get like that.” The two friends looked at each other, unaware of how to best support their friend.
“We have to make sure he never goes near her” Kelly said, looking up at Shay with a look of anger on his face. It was your decision to get that fucked up, but it was ultimately your upbringing and your father’s re-appearance that encouraged the excessive drinking that night. Whoever’s fault, he knew that you would be okay if it weren’t for the guest appearance you had to deal with.
Shay nodded in agreement. She began to clean up their place, white claws and packs of cigarettes, and rolling papers everywhere. You enjoyed rolling when you were drunk.
“I’m gonna run by her place, pack her a bag” Severide announced to Shay, who supported the idea.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Severide pulled up to your street in his Mustang, reaching for the spare bag he put in his passenger’s seat. He was about to get out until he saw a familiar vehicle he had seen at the firehouse earlier that day- a grey Honda civic. He was almost positive it belonged to your father, because he had watched him leave the firehouse to make sure he had truly left.
He made a phone call. “Hey man.. yeah everything’s okay, I just need you to do me a favour. Can you run this plate? It’s CD 37846.” As soon as Jay confirmed what Severide somehow already knew, he hung up and got out of the car, gunning it for your dad.
Tapping on the window aggressively with his knuckle, he motioned your father to roll the window down. As soon as it came down, the smell of alcohol flooded his nose.
“You have 1 minute to drive away, and if you ever come back here, so help me god you’re going to regret it” Kelly spat out, trying to comprehend that this was his reality, and also trying to keep himself from beating your dad to a pulp.
Your dad chuckled with amusement, laughing at the threat that was made to him. He took a swig from his Whiskey bottle, almost as if to calm him down. “You may tell my daughter what to do, but you sure as hell don’t tell me what to do” your dad looked over at Kelly, making it very clear that he was unfazed by his comment.
“We’ll see about that” Kelly tapped the window, making his way up your front steps. He didn’t want to give your dad the time of day- he didn’t deserve it.
“That girl has commitment issues, so I would watch it if I were you. She’s a whore just like her mother, don’t be scared to hit her if she falls out of line.” It didn’t even take your dad finishing his sentence for Kelly to walk back to the car, open the driver door, and drag him out onto the floor.
He began throwing punches, and couldn’t even make out his surroundings while doing so. All he focused on was how good the anger felt as it seeped out of his skin, blow after blow. The pain his shoulder felt was the least of his concerns.
The anger completely overtaking him, he didn’t even notice Jay arrived, attempting to disrupt his punching spree. “Kelly! Hey! Stop it, man! Don’t to this.” Kelly was grabbed by Jay, and once he contained his anger he was let go. He spat on the floor right next to your father.
“Kelly, who is this? What’s going on man?” Jay asked, slapping Kelly’s chest as if to reprimand him.
“Y/N’s father. He’s stalking her, I don’t even know how he got her address. He was at the firehouse earlier today and wouldn’t leave, he has a bottle of whiskey in his car.” Kelly began pacing around, trying not to look at your father because if he did, he’d want to hurt him even more. “He hits women, Jay. I can only imagine what he’s done to Y/N.” He began pacing around even more once he imagined the possibility of you getting hurt at the hands of your father, the man who was supposed to be your ultimate protector.
Jay nodded in understanding, thinking about what the next steps are from here.
“I’ll book him for the bottle, and I’ll say he got into a bar fight. D&D.” Kelly nodded.
Jay turned your dad over and put cuffs on him, helping him stand up. When they walked over to the cop car, your dad made one last remark.
“That was nothing... I hurt them even worse than that” Your dad showed Kelly a toothy, bloody grin, chuckling in content with what he said. Kelly knew that if he ever saw him again, he couldn’t keep himself from killing him then and there. Jay roughly put him into the back of the car, and slammed the door.
“I owe you Halstead.” Kelly said, and Jay quickly nodded his head.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kelly returned to the apartment, a bag of your belongings in his hand. He headed straight for the fridge, actually ready (and feening) for some beer. He was glad Shay seemed to be asleep- he didn’t want to discuss the events that just took place.
He opened his bedroom door and peered in. You were laying on your slide sleeping peacefully. He walked over and took a seat right next to you, moving a strand of hair that fell in your field of view out of the way. Caressing your cheek, he thought to himself that his feelings for you were stronger than he had imagined. He ended up falling asleep right next to you- a safe place for you both.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: I’m so sorry that took so long! I hope you all enjoyed, and to the person who requested this- thank you, and I hope I met your expectations! This was my first request so that's super exciting. I don’t know if I made Kelly wayyy too protective in this, but I love it just the same. Keep sending in some requests :)  Also, I'm going to try to set up a masterlist, so stay tuned for that.

Last resort | Leslie Shay
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Firefighter!Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Summary: Chief Boden orders everyone to evacuate the building, will you follow his orders when you hear a baby crying? Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 2.1K
It had been a quiet day at 51, you were playing cards with the rest of squad 3 when the alarms went off, signaling all units to move to an apartment fire. You jumped up and ran to the truck, kicking your shoes off and stepping into your boots. You pulled the pants up, the suspenders over your shoulders, and hopped in your seat. Squad was the first to pull out of the firehouse. Severide taps away on his tablet, “Okay, squad, listen up. The fire is fully evolved. We’ll be the first company on scene, let’s work quickly. When we’re on scene we have to move fast. Let’s wait on Bodens orders, y/l/n you’re with Cruz, Tony with Capp, and Mills you’re with me. Do you copy?” You all let him know that you copy him and mentally prepare for the call you’re about to have.
When you arrive at the scene you can immediately tell that it’s bad. “Alright, people, let’s go to work.” Boden says over the radio. “Truck 81,  primary search on the first floor, Squad 3 you take the second and third. Engine, I want a line on the first floor and raise the aerial in case it’s needed. Ambulance 61, set up triage. Let’s go, people.” You look to Kelly to hear which floor you have to go to. “Cruz, y/l/n, second floor. The rest with me to the third.”
Once arrived on the second floor, you and Cruz go door to door. The fire has already reached this floor too, so you have to kick in all the doors to check for people that might’ve passed out from the smoke. Cruz takes the north wall and you take the south of the massive hallway. You kick in another door and yell, “Fire department, call out.” Into the room. You hear a man call out, “Over here.” They hid in the bathroom. You help them stand up and walk them back to the stairwell. They seemed to be doing fine, so you urged them to walk down by themselves, making sure to tell them to get checked out at triage. When you walk back you see Cruz helped an elderly woman to the stairs as well. “Need a hand?” You ask. He shakes his hand, “No, keep going, I’ve got this one.” So, you do, door after door, you search the room. A lot of the apartments are empty already, people that weren’t home or that walked downstairs at the first sign of something wrong, you were glad there weren’t a lot of people because the smoke started to get thicker and the flames bigger. Cruz was already back kicking in doors as well, when you heard Boden’s voice over the radio. “Attention all units, five more minutes and then I want everybody out.” You look over at the many doors you have yet to check and speed up your pace.
It hadn’t even been five minutes yet when the next order came over the radio. “Attention all units, I’m calling it. Everybody out!” You hate leaving all these rooms unchecked, but you knew that Boden was right, the fire was strong. You followed Cruz towards the stairs when you heard a faint cry that stopped you in your tracks. When you heard it again, it sounded like a little kid. You had to make a decision, follow orders, or try to save the child. Against your better judgment you turn around and take off in the direction of the cries, leaving Cruz behind. The crying gets louder the further that you walk down the hallway, meaning that you are getting closer.
Cruz walks out the door and takes his mask off to take a deep breath. He sees the rest of 51  standing behind Boden, all looking in his direction. Boden is quick to speak up, “Cruz, where is y/l/n?” Cruz looks around thinking you were right behind him this whole time. “She was right behind me.” He says in disbelief, already putting his mask back on. “Cruz, stand down. I can’t let anyone back in.” He reaches for his radio. “Y/l/n, report. I want you out of this building, right now.” You hear his request on the radio, but ignore it as you’re kicking in the door that you hear the crying coming from. The fire has already made it through the ceiling of the living room, you crouch down making your way over to the crying. When you reach an open bedroom door you find the crying baby. He was lying in the arms of a woman laying on the floor. You quickly check for a pulse, you’re relieved when you feel a regular heartbeat, she must have passed out from all the smoke that was filling the room. “Y/l/n, report.” You hear over the radio again, worry now present in his voice. You don’t have time to respond as you hear a voice coming from underneath the bed. “Is mommy okay?” You look under and find a girl who can’t be more than three years old. Your heart sinks, how were you going to get all three of them out, with the fire getting stronger and stronger. Setting aside your worries, you pull her out from under the bed. “Mommy is okay, the smoke just made her really sleepy, that’s all.” You take the young girl by the hand and pick up the baby, to move them to the bathroom where you’d all have some more room to breathe. “I’m going to get your mommy now. I will be right back, I promise.” You sit down next to the mom, feeling her pulse once again. Still a steady heartbeat. You reach for your radio. “Chief.” You take a deep breath before speaking again. “Chief, is Leslie with you?” Chief Boden ushers Shay closer. “She’s standing next to me. What's going on?” Shay shares a worried look with him. “Leslie, baby, are you there?” You hear her respond with a shaky voice. “Yes, the line is open, you’re scaring me, what’s going on?” - “I love you so much, but I have to try. I just wanted to let you know that I love you, in case I..” She interrupts you, “Don’t say it, you come back to me okay. I love you, please come back to me.” It breaks your heart to hear her like this. “I’ll try my best, I promise.”
You grab the bedsheet and drag the mom towards the bathroom where you left the kids. Once inside you take off your mask. The little girl is crying, you take off your glove and wipe away the tears. “I know it’s scary, but I’m here to help. My name is y/n, what about you?” Between sobs she tells you that her name is Mila. “Okay, Mila, let’s get you all out of here.” You take off your oxygen tank and your coat, before you turn the water on in the bath, drowning the bedsheets. “Mila, honey, come here. I’m going to wrap this around you, okay? And then I want you to climb on my back.” The girl nods. You were trying to create some sort of carrier with the sheet that would hold both Mila and her little brother, so that your hands were free for their mom.” Once you had Mila attached to your back, you picked up the baby and wrapped him to your front. “I’m going to put my coat back over you okay, I want you to be very still and hold on to me, okay honey?” You button up the coat so that both the kids are safe from the fire. With the remaining part of the bedding you wrap up the mom’s body, making sure that she has some kind of protection from the flames before you pick her up and take one last breath of oxygen from your mask, since you had to leave it behind.
The fire had spread through more parts of the apartment, but there was no going back now. You went around as much fire as possible and jumped through the ones you couldn’t go around. To your surprise you made it to the stairs. You hold the mom close as you decent, quick but careful. The smoke was really starting to get to you, but you couldn’t stop, you made a promise to Mila and you intend on keeping it.
Outside the team was watching the building, hoping and praying that you would walk out of the door. They didn’t believe their eyes when they saw you exit the building, everyone running your way. Kelly takes the woman out of your arms and lays her down on the stretcher from one of the paramedics. You fall to your knees from coughing so much. Leslie sits down with you trying to calm down your breathing, while Cruz tries to help you up, but you push him off. Between coughs you manage to say, “The kids.” - “We can’t go back in, y/l/n. It’s too dangerous.” You shake your head and open your coat, revealing the improvised baby carrier. You shake off your coat to reveal a second child. Once your teammates take the kids from you to get checked out. Dawson is by your side with an oxygen mask, you eagerly put it over your face and take some deep breaths. “You scared me so much, please never do that again.” Leslie says hugging you tight.
Chief Boden steps your way. “You did good, y/l/n.” He says. “Get yourself checked out at the hospital, you took in a lot of smoke.” You nod in agreement. Dawson steps up to Boden, “Can Shay and I take her? I know Shay won’t want to leave her side right now.” Boden agrees to let them take you and will let dispatch know that ambulance 61 is out of order for the time being.
The doctors do some tests, they all go well and you are cleared to start duty right away. Dawson drives the ambulance back to the firehouse where your teammates gather as soon as they hear you pull up. You step out of the back with Leslie, as soon as they see you they’re all relieved to see you’re doing so well. “I’m all good, don’t worry guys.” You walk up to the Chief. “I got cleared for duty, Sir. I did have to leave some of my gear behind, though.” Boden nods, “We’ve got some spare tanks and masks, don’t worry about it. Glad to have you back.” Once Boden walks away you turn your attention back to the team, they all give you a hug or pat on the back. Luckily the rest of the day was slow, just a couple small calls, so you were able to catch your breath a bit more.
After a night of uninterrupted sleep, you join the team for breakfast. Mills cooked, and it was delicious as always. Boden ordered an inventory check on all the vehicles, so that’s where you headed next. You were crouched down checking equipment when you heard people walking outside. “Mommy, I see her!” You turn around at the familiar voice. Mila comes running up to you and jumps into your arms. “Hi Mila.” You hug her tight, seeing them here meant so much. Since another ambulance company treated them, you didn’t know how they were doing. Mila lets go after a while remembering something. “We made you cookies.” You smile at the little girl, you had only seen her scared on the scene, which made seeing her so cheerful now even more happy. She pulls you over to her mom who was talking with Leslie and Chief Boden. “Hi, I’m y/n, nice to meet you.” You say extending your hand. Instead of shaking your hand she goes in for a hug. “I’m sorry.” She says while stepping back. “Shaking your hand didn’t seem enough, you saved my life.” She looks down at her kids and adds, “Their lives. I owe you everything.” You smile at her, “No need to apologize, and of course, I was just doing my job.” The woman shakes her head, “Everyone that I have talked to has said that you went above and beyond for us. So, thank you. Thank you so much.” Hearing back from the people that you saved was so special. Knowing that you’re the reason they are able to stand right in front of you. “Do you have some time to stick around? I would love to show Mila the trucks, if she’d like.” Mila was already nodding her head enthusiastically, “Please, Mommy.”
Your girlfriend was watching you in awe as you posed for pictures with Mila on your lap behind the steering wheel of the Squad truck. While Chief Boden was proudly watching you interact with the family that you saved.

Jay Halstead x Reader | Kelly Severide x Reader
choose your ending
(yes, check it out at the end of this)
Long time crush. One-sided love. Admiring from afar. Everything Y/N is very familiar with. With Jay Halstead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Y/N isn't admiring from afar, her and Jay are friends, so she gets to be close to Jay. See him. See everything that happens to him. See everything that Jay is going through and had gone through. And she was there through it all.
It's been years and she's contemplating if she'd
1. let it go, forget about Jay and start dating someone else... or
2. finally confess, ask Jay for a date and hope for the best... or
3. get drunk, confess, maybe sneak a kiss in and then run away into another state, get a new phone number, a new identity, and hide for all eternity.
Y/N revved up the engine of Jay's car, ready to drive him home. Jay had just drank himself to oblivion at Molly's. She was with him to look after him. She knew. Erin just left. Or rather disappeared, without a word. Nothing at all.
So Jay is left, nursing his broken heart and soul. And Y/N is there, again, after so many breakups of Jay from previous relationships.
"Jay, don't make this any harder for me." -Y/N reached over as she closed the door again. Jay attempted to get out of the car. "I have an early shift tomorrow, I don't wanna get bad with Shay."
"Is it good in ambo? Maybe I should just change careers." -Jay let out a drunk hiccup.
"Jay, I don't think this is the time for you to be making decisions."
Y/N drove to Jay's apartment and helped the younger Halstead in. She walked him to his bed, pushed him onto it and took his shoes and jacket off. It's all familiar now, Y/N has done this too many times.
"Goodnight, Jay." -Y/N say before leaving.
The next morning, Y/N was late. And Shay called her out on it.
Kelly Severide was looking at them talk by the ambo for a bit and he knows the reason why Y/N was late. He was at Molly's last night too.
She's best friends with Shay and good friends with Kelly. She's close enough to the two to the point of her telling them about her feelings for Jay. They'd go out sometimes, just the three of them and Y/N would burst out of her emotions whenever they get too strong to hide from Jay. She'd flee to the two and ask a lot of questions.
Questions of why? Why is she still inlove with Jay after all these years -years of Jay showing no interest in her other than being close friends.
And every time, Shay and Kelly would tell her she did nothing wrong and that she shouldn't beat herself about it. And even told her to come clean to Jay.
To which Y/N would say: she is not Jay's type. She knows well what Jay likes. And it's not her. Because if it is, they would've been dating by now.
"10 minutes late, huh." -Shay
"Sorry."
"You know what, why don't I set you up with someone else, Jay is too busy with himself to notice someone amazing just right beside him."
"I'm open!" -Kelly chimes in from the squad table.
The two gave him a side eye.
"What? Come on!"
Shay replied to Kelly with something witty or whatever Y/N couldn't comprehend because her phone rang and it was Kim Burgess. Asking where Jay is, he hasn't come in yet.
"What? I'll look into it." -Y/N hang up. "Shay, can we, you know, just a few minutes."
"For the... what, hundred ninety ninth time?"
"Pretty please."
"...Fine."
They took the ambo and drove to Jay's apartment. And there Y/N saw Jay still asleep and seemingly having a nightmare. She woke him up and Jay almost punched her solid to the floor.
It's instincts for Jay by now whenever he wakes from a nightmare, be aggressive, fighting off his attacker.
Y/N was startled and sat to the floor. She dodged the punch a little bit but still got hit. She knows about it, she had woken Jay a lot of times like that before. But right now, she was sluggish from sleeping late and didn't dodge it completely.
Jay realized and apologized furiously.
"Oh, shit! Y/N, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." -Jay helping her out, looking at the reddish color of her cheek where his punch hit.
"It's okay. Get to work! Kim called she said she's out there without a partner." -Y/N tidied her clothes and walked out.
"Whoa! What happened?!?" -Shay saw her bruise.
"Oh, awoken from a nightmare. It happens. I dodged it most of the time but now I'm sluggish so it hit."
"Damn. Come here let me look at that."
"Let's look at it at when we get back to the firehouse."
Shay drove them back just in time Chief Boden got in from a meeting. They stayed on the back of the ambo, Shay tending to Y/N's bruised cheek.
"Hey, what happened?" -Kelly sat beside Y/N. Sounding really worried.
"Jay." -Shay side commented.
"What?!?" -Kelly was angry.
"Wait wait! It's not like that!" -Y/N explained.
"You know what, I think it's time you stop waiting on Jay." -Kelly touched Y/N's cheek ever so gently.
"It's not his fault. I already told you." -Y/N defended Jay again.
Y/N waited for Kelly to take his hand off but he didn't. Kelly was touching her cheek, his hand felt warm, and his eyes locked deeply with hers.
'Uhm...wait, this is-' -Y/N thought to herself, she didn't get to finish the thought as she felt a blush creeping to her cheeks.
And then Y/N's phone lit up. It's Jay, calling. Y/N stood up, -and in the process- got away from Kelly.
-Hey, I'm outside.-
-Okay, wait.- Y/N hung up the call and stepped outside.
There she saw Jay, leaning on his car with a paperbag of food from Y/N's favorite place.
"Hey, I'm sorry about this morning. Peace offering." -Jay smiled as he handed over the food.
"Well, if this is a sushi platter..." Y/N peeked inside the bag, "...and it is a platter, okay. Peace offering accepted."
She smiled at Jay.
"Oh, but this is for the apology, what about a thank you for last night? Driving you home? the princess that you are." -Y/N was feeling playful. She was just joking.
"Oh, I haven't forgotten." -Jay takes out a chocolate bar. "That's for thank you."
Y/N laughed as she accepted it.
The firehouse alarm sounded off.
"Oh, I have to go, Jay."
"Yeah. Y/N, really, I'm so sorry. And thank you so much."
"Yeah."
Y/N jogged back to the firehouse.
"And that is why our dear friend Y/N, couldn't move on from Jay. He's sweet like that." -Shay saying as she took the chocolate from Y/N.
"Hey!" -Y/N was smiling ear to ear as she got into the ambo.
Kelly let out a sigh as he jogged into the truck. Ambo, squad and truck were called out.
The day passed as usual. And night came, Y/N went to Molly's with Kelly and Shay. Otis decided to try a dance night, to which Hermann was not particularly happy about, but still went on with.
The three of them were dancing. Having a great time. Jay wasn't around, he did mention they are working a case overtime.
Through the crowd, Shay paired up with a chick and stepped away from Y/N and Kelly. The two remained paired up and dancing.
Dancing real close to each other. Y/N normally doesn't get too close to Kelly but right now, she is. Their bodies are flushed to each other so close that Y/N could feel how fit Kelly is underneath the layers of jacket and shirt. Close. Too close. Maybe the alcohol also took away the inhibitions.
Y/N looked up at Kelly and the lieutenant was already staring at her. Those beautiful eyes. A color deep, somewhat a mix of blue and green. Y/N knows Kelly is popular with the ladies, looking good and all. But she refrains from looking at Kelly that way because of her friendship with Shay.
But Shay is not here right now. And Kelly's body feels so warm, so close, Y/N swore there legs were already crossing with each other. Kelly felt so warm, and big around Y/N right then, like he is shielding Y/N from the world, and Y/N felt safe in there.
They kept dancing and rubbing up on each other, until Kelly started closing in on Y/N's lips. Kelly kissed her. A quick smack on the lips.
Y/N was startled. She just froze and stared at Kelly, who was already gunning for a second kiss. And a third. And a fourth. The fourth was quite longer.
"Whoa!" -Shay came back.
Y/N and Kelly broke apart.
"Uh-huh. Okay, if you two decided to date and you fought, don't come to me, I can't choose sides." -and then Shay disappeared again with a different chick this time.
"K-Kelly, what is-why?" -Y/N asked, still confused.
"I like you." -Kelly confessed.
"W-What???"
"Yeah, I do. I just-"
Y/N's phone rang. It's Will Halstead. Telling her Jay is in Med, shot.
"Oh my god! I gotta go, Kelly."
"Yeah." -Kelly was disappointed, he knows, it's probably Jay again. He stepped away from all the dancing people and sat himself at the bar.
+++
Jay is stable now, sleeping in one of the emergency bays in Med. Y/N stayed beside Jay, holding his hand. Will explained the gunshot wound wasn't that bad, but given the state Jay was these past days -drinking, not enough nutritious food and sleep- made it worse than it was.
"Jay... I love you, Jay." -Y/N whispered. She wasn't sure if to Jay or to herself. She just said it. She just muttered it out. Low and quiet.
But not low and quiet enough.
"Uhm..." -Will just stepped in to check on Jay.
"W-Will?!? Uhm, did you- did you hear?"
"Yup."
"Please, don't tell him. Anyone." -Y/N stood and walked closer to Will.
"Okay. You know, it's a mystery to me why you guys aren't dating. For years."
"Just... don't tell him. Please." -Y/N was panicking a little.
"Jay... Jay's not really good at seeing something good even if it's in front of him already."
"I'm not his type, Will."
"What're you saying? You get along really really well."
"It just doesn't... Please, keep quiet, okay? Promise me?"
"Okay. Okay." -Will has his hands up. "Anyways, you could go, I'll look after Jay."
"Alright."
Y/N looked at Jay one last time before heading out.
+++
Y/N keeps visiting Jay until he's put for recovery at home. Today is Jay's day to get discharged. And timing that Y/N and Shay responded to an emergency and had brought the patient to Med.
Y/N was smiling because he could see Jay too... with Hailey.
It looks like Hailey picked him up. Even helping him get his jacket on.
"Who's that? New girlfriend?" -Shay to Y/N
"No, his partner at Intelligence." -Y/N said without looking away.
"Ha. Okay. Let's go say hi." -Shay pulled Y/N with her.
"No, nevermind. Let's go get resupplied." -Y/N pulled Shay back into the supplies area, staying there until Jay and Hailey left.
Y/N knows. She saw that look in Jay again. The look of: the girl is not his girlfriend yet, but could be. Y/N was so familiar by now.
Before Y/N and Shay could leave, Will stopped Y/N by the hand.
"Hey, Jay checked out. Why aren't you the one picking him up?"
"I am on duty and there's Hailey." -Y/N smiled, just a tight straight line of smile.
"Oh... uhm, hey, I'm working a little late today. Could you make sure Jay eats? Healthy food type and not just alcohol?"
Y/N was staring at Will, the older Halstead was trying to push them together. Will did say that if he could choose someone for Jay, he would choose Y/N.
"...Okay."
"Here. Buy me some too. I'd go to his apartment to oversee his recovery."
"Fine by me." -Y/N took the money for food later.
Shay and her left after that.
And that night, as promised to Will, Y/N dropped by at Jay's, with food for 3.
"Y/N, hey."
"Uh-huh. Yup." -Y/N stepped in, eyeing the bottle of beer in Jay's hand. "Food. And fresh juice." Y/N set the food on the table.
"Thanks. I'm just numbing the pain down a bit."
Y/N and Jay ate as they watched TV. Y/N assisted Jay whenever he couldn't do something because he is in an arm sling.
"Y/N, thanks a lot. But it's getting late, I would drive you if I could."
"Nah, just rest up. Will says he's coming here."
Jay went to bed and Y/N stepped out. She doesn't wanna go home yet so she went to Molly's.
+++
She was greeted by familiar people. Hermann being the sweetest of all to her.
"Kiddo, how's Jay?"
"Out now. He's recovering at home."
"Here. On the house." -Hermann slid a bottle of beer.
"Aww, thanks so much, Hermann."
"Do I get one too?" -Kelly sat next to Y/N
"Nah, you pay, Severide." -Hermann placed a bottle of beer too in front of Kelly before leaving the two.
"Hey, Y/N."
"Hey, Kelly." -Y/N said as she took a long sip of beer.
Kelly asked how Jay is. And then how Y/N is. Telling her not to forget about herself. It's been years since she had someone, to love, and love her. And take care of her.
Y/N felt sad at that. Kelly is right. She never dated anyone for years. Just at the side of Jay, looking after him.
Kelly cupped her cheek with his palm and kissed her. She refused the second kiss.
"Kelly, I just... not right now. I'm sorry."
Kelly let go and smiled. "Jay's a lucky guy. You're loyal to him even if you aren't together. But Y/N, I'm serious. I like you. A lot. I just don't come up to you because I know about Jay. But it's been a long time, I want you to be happy. And I can do that for you."
Y/N stared at Severide. Just stared. Not talking. She felt confused. She can't straight right now.
"Kelly, I'm sorry. I've had a long day and I can't think straight."
"I understand. I'll drive you home."
"Kelly."
"Come on. There's no way I'm letting you go alone this late." -Kelly has his keys out by then.
"...Okay."
Walking to Severide's car, Y/N was thinking.
+++
The days went on, Y/N helped Jay in recovery. And at work, Y/N had a close call.
There was a house fire. There are people stuck inside. On the third floor there was an old lady in need of rescuing. She hurt herself bad a d needed to be put into a c-collar and backboard.
The truck and squad was on it. They have the ladder ready up there. Y/N went up to secure the patient. Severide and Cruz was able to get the patient out to the ladder. Cruz went down with it.
Then a part of the ceiling came apart and fell on Y/N, knocking her unconscious. Kelly beat himself up from not being able to push Y/N out of the way in time. He ran to Y/N, trying ot wake her up.
But their time is dwindling, the re isn't enough vent. Severide knows it's gonna blow.
"Y/N hold on, I got you!" -Kelly secured Y/N against him and prepared to jump out. There wasn't enough time for the ladder to get them.
Kelly jumped through the window just in time for the blast.
"Severide!!!" "Oh my god!!!"
Falling to the ground, making sure he landed first on the ground, cradling Y/N as safe as possible.
The firefighters rushed to them. They are both out. Ambo worked fast to get them to Med.
"Y/N? What happened?" -Will was one attending. "Severide too?"
"I got Y/N, you take Severide." -Dr. Rhodes worked fast.
After a few hours, good news were given out. As a miracle as it is, both are stable and suffered only minimal damages. Thanks to Severide breaking and taking most of the fall.
Severide woke up and was immediately sitting up.
"Hey hey hey! Stop, Severide." -Casey was there by him.
"Y/N? What happened?"
"She's stable. No serious damage at all."
"Where is she?" -Trying to stand up.
"Whoa! Hey. Slow down... by the way, you are okay too. No serious damage as well, not that you care right now, hey!"
Kelly was half way out of the bed by now. "I fucked up, Casey. I didn't see it falling. This is my fault. I should've taken care of her up there."
"Get back to bed, Severide."
"No, I gotta see her. Take me to Y/N, Casey!"
"Okay, okay. Slow down."
Casey assisted Kelly to Y/N's room. Y/N had just woken up.
"Hey there." -Casey caught her attention.
"Casey... Kelly, hey."
"How are you?" -Kelly sat beside.
"I'm... there are pains but I'm good. You? Why are you up? Shay filled me in. I passed out she said. Then we jumped out. You taking most of the fall. Thank you."
"No, I failed actually. You shouldn't have been knocked out by that ceiling in the first place."
"No, you saved me. Thank you."
Kelly was teary eyed as he rubbed Y/N's hand with his own.
"Knock knock." -Shay was at the door. "Oh god, I'm so glad you're both okay. And you." Shay poked Kelly's arm. "That was pretty stupid but awesome. But please, do that again."
"Yeah yeah." -Kelly took his hand off Y/N's to hug Shay.
They were talking a while when there came another knock from the door.
"Oh." -Shay. "Hi, Jay."
"Hey. Uhm, Y/N, hey." -Jay stepped into the room.
"Oh, getting crowded in here." -Shay stepped out, pulling Casey with her.
Kelly was just quiet, looking at Jay.
Jay looked back at him too. "Severide." Jay nodded. "I heard what you did for Y/N. That was amazing. Thanks, man."
"Of course."
Y/N felt a little anxious. Jay, the guy she's been pining for for years and Kelly, the guy who likes her and turned out to be pining for her for while now, are in the same room as her right now.
And Y/N could feel the tension from Kelly. She just wasn't sure if Jay feels it.
"Y/N. Hey, how are you holding up?" -Jay asked her. His voice was hoarse but gentle.
"I'm good now."
Kelly observed and decided to leave the two. He doesn't wanna stress Y/N out.
"Sorry, I came late. We were in a bust. What'd the doctors say?"
"They say no serious damage."
"That's good. That's good." -Jay patter her shoulders gently.
Jay stayed a while.
A few days after, Y/N recovered with Kelly and Jay visiting her most days.
As a celebration for her recovery, firehouse 51 setup Molly's for her. Free drinks for her and Kelly's escape from death. Jay sat with the three of them.
Y/N excused herself to go to the restroom. When she's near it, she looked back at their table. She looked at Jay. Jay almost died a few weeks back and now she almost died a few days after that. She looked at Kelly as well. Kelly was there through everything too for her. Almost died with her.
Y/N knows there has to be a decision made. And she has to make it soon. Too much time passed and she doesn't know if she'd escape a close call in duty again. Or if Jay would. Or if Kelly would.

You hadn’t expected Severide to run his mouth. It had been a one-night stand when you’d first transferred to Chicago after a messy divorce five years ago. Two lonely hearts finding each other in the midst of the turbulence and carving out a shallow connection, it had been over and done with.  You’d seen him since but the two of you moved in different orbits and you were glad for it. It was in Molly’s one night he brought up the headboard. He’d had a little too much to drink and was proclaiming you owed him one since you’d broken his headboard that time.
It was long in the past but the idea of another man’s hands on you especially Severide’s drove Antonio crazy. He was pissed that the other man had brought it up in the first place. He knew about the one-night stand, knew that there were no feelings there at least not on your side but that savage urge to claim you vibrated through him. The thought of Severide’s hands on you made him want to spend the night tangled up in you, kissing you, reminding you who you belonged to.
He was quiet on the drive home, his dark eyes glinting in the light from the streetlamp. You could see the tension in his jaw, the way the skin stretched white over his knuckles as he grasped the steering wheel. His right hand deviated from the gear stick, instead coming to rest upon your knee. His thumb smoothed over the indentation as his fingertips brushed over the hem of your dress, pushing it higher.
“I hate the thought of his hands on you.” Antonio told you, bunching the fabric tightly in his hand so that the lace began to tear. “I hate the thought of him kissing you, fucking you.”
“Toni.” You said, your fingers entwined with his before you guided his hand between your legs. “You’re the only man I want, the only one that has ever made me feel like I’m worth something.”
He inclined his head towards you.
“Baby, you mean everything to me.” He told you, his fingertip grazing over your moist core through the cotton of your panties. You were soaking already, the material sticking to the outline of your clit as his finger traced over it slowly.
“Show me.” You breathed. “Show me that I belong to you.”
You don’t make it home. You end up in the empty carpark of a movie theatre, in the backseat of the car. Your panties are long gone, tossed God knows where. Antonio drew you into his lap, his hand gripping your jaw guiding your mouth back to his. His kisses are searing, each one sending a blaze of heat pulsing through you, chasing away every single one of your thoughts. When he entered you it’s with slow intentional thrusts, giving you just a little bit more each time. You want it all, you crave the way he fills you, the noise he makes when he’s finally seated deep inside of you. You whine as he teases you and he smiles, because he knows, how needy he makes you, how desperate. “Mine.” He whispered, his teeth grazing the curve of your throat. “All fucking mine.”
He fucked you like a man possessed, with roaming hands and a pace that’s unrelenting. He hit that devious little spot inside of you, the one that made you fucking sing every time. He listened to the pitch of your whimpers, drawing out each and every stroke until he heard your breath become ragged and that feral noise emit from your throat.
“Tell me, I’m the only one.” He snarled, his hand in your hair, winding it tightly around his fist as he forced you to look into his furious black eyes. “Tell me I’m the only one that’s ever fucked you this good.”
“Toni, there’s no one else that has made me feel the way you do, no one else I love more than you. No one else who can fuck like me this.” You uttered, your fingers carding through his hair. His hands came to rest upon your hips, fingertips digging into your flesh as he thrust up into you.
“You gonna cum for me baby?” He growled against your skin. “Gonna squeeze my dick so tight that I cum inside of you? Would you like that?”
“Fuck Toni.” You breathed, pink flushing across your cheeks. “I need it. I need you.”
“I got you, baby.” He whispered, his hand coming to rest on your throat. His dark eyes were on yours as he squeezed just a little, your pulse thrumming underneath the pad of his thumb. You exhaled, that savage smile spreading across your lips as the ecstasy exploded through your synapses like a firework. A haze of pleasure, noise and colour erupted inside of you as you came. The orgasm hit Antonio like a freight train, ploughing through his senses as he spilled himself deep inside. Fuck he loved this, loved you, loved the feel of himself leaking out of you.
“I love you; you know that right?” he murmured, his thumb trailing over the shape of your lips.
“Yea Toni,” you whispered. “I do.”

Matt Casey- Home Pt1
Tumblr media
Things were obviously tuff after my brother Andy's death. Heather my sister in law got a DUI and ended up in prison for 15 months. During that time I looked after hers and my brothers kids, when she was released Heather took Griffin and Ben to live away in Florida. She suddenly stoped phoning me and anytime I would phone her I was cut off. Eventually I was blocked. This was heard on me because all I wanted was to speak to my nephews. Matt and Gabby got divorced then I started dating Matt.
Then one day Griffin appeared on mine and Matts doorstep telling us how his mom keeps moving him around and now is in prison again. Of course after a lengthy conversation Matt and I made the decision that I'd moved in with Griffin, Ben and Heather until I know that she can cope again.
I was gone for a long time, but Matt and I made it work doing long distance. He would also come and visit me any time he could, but it's tough. And unfortunately Heather kept getting into trouble, so Matt suggests that the kids just move in with him and I, that way Heather can sort herself out and the kids would have a stable environment. Plus with Gabby leaving I was offered to become PIC of ambo 61. I'm not just coming home because of that, it's also my best friend Kelly's wedding.
I walk into the fire house holding on to my nephews hands hoping to surprise everyone. Of course Matt and Kelly know I'm coming home, but they think my flight gets in later
"Geeze, thought I'd at least get some banners for my return"
"Babe?" Matt looks over a little shocked "thought I was picking you and the kids up later"
"Eh flight changed"
"No it didn't you said you wanted to surprise everyone"
"Thanks Ben"
"YN. It's good to have you back" Herrmann pulls me into a hug which is followed by everyone else
"YN thank you for coming back for the wedding"
"Well that's not the only reason I'm back" I say replying to Kelly
"Well don't leave us all waiting" Brett encourages
"Well I'm coming back permanently, Ben, Griffin and I. I'm gonna be the PIC of ambo 61 again"
"Yes!" Gallo fist bumps the air
"Bless our saviour"
"Oh thank god" Brett hugs me again
"What did I miss?" I chuckle
"The person who replaced you temporarily, well she's not the nicest"
"Emma just creates a lot of drama" Gallo replies for Capp
"She's been after the PIC job since you left"
"Oh well don't worry about her anymore. I'm back next shift"
"Perfect" Brett once again hugs me tight
"Right we best get you guys fed. You hungry?" Kelly asks me and the kids
"I'm starving" I reply chuckling. The kids follow Kelly to the kitchen while I get stopped by my very handsome boyfriend
"Hey"
"Hi" I smile up at him "don't be to mad at me for trying to surprise you"
"Just glad your here and staying" he places his hands on either side of my face and presses a kiss against my lips
"Oh Errm sorry to interrupt" we break apart and see Emma "was just coming to collect my things"
"No hard feelings right?"
"No course not" she smiles but I can see how fake it is
"Come on let's grab something to eat" Matt wraps his arm around my shoulders and we head to the kitchen
"If we had known you were coming back we would have made a nice spread"
"It's ok. Don't worry about it"
"Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3 , ambo 61. Structure fire 336 Arlington"
"I'll see you guys later. Matt I'll see you at home"
"Home. I like the sound of that" I give him a peck before he shoots off
"Ok let's get you guys home hey?"
On the way home the taxi driver starts to drive passed where the fire. I notice Emma outside getting shouted at, but no Matt, Stella or Sylvie
"Hey can you stop a minute?" I ask and get out
"Hey. Boden things ok? Where's Brett?"
"Inside. Woman's giving birth and Jacobs left her"
"Chief send me in?"
"What. You don't start till...."
"I know but if someone's giving birth up there Brett's gonna need help, please?"
"Ok go"
"Ok boys I want you to stand over there with Chief Boden. Ok don't leave his side"
"Ok" the boys leave the car while I run into the burning building
"Brett? Kidd? Casey?" I shout running up some stairs
"YN?" I hear Brett yell and follow her voice
"Holy shit" I notice the room on fire
"She's crowning" Brett tells me "YN give me the bulb suction" I hand her what she needs while I tend to her wound on her shoulder "ok big push" Brett says. Thankfully we hear crying from the baby
"Ok Kidd Casey carry her out. Brett you got the baby?"
"Yeah"
"Ok when we have them in the ambo I want to put oxygen on the baby just in case as well as the mother. Let's go" I grab the bag and follow the others out. When we get outside to safety I hear Emma getting told to clean out her locker
"Welcome home YN" Brett smiles giving me a side hug once the baby was in the ambo having oxygen thanks to other paramedics that just arrived.
We arrive back at the firehouse, everyone excited for my return when I see Gabby. My old best friend
"Hey" she smiles and Matt and I
"Hi Gabby"
"Well this is awkward" Mouch mumbles earning a nudge from Gallo
"I'm not here to cause drama. Just here for the wedding"
"Errm it's good to see you Gabby. Matt I'm gonna take the kids home. I'll see you later" I give him a kiss and leave the firehouse feeling a little uncomfortable about Matts ex being here. Yes we were once friends and yes ok I'm the bitch that dated her best friends ex husband, but doesn't mean that I'm not a little worried.
