Okay I lied. Actually collected thoughts about the Elias Shaw thing regarding things that actually matter

- this post says a lot tbh generally just read that - but also like . While the spirit of retconning JBright in general is something that, while I don’t think is essential due to the drift, is something that in a vacuum makes at least sense as a decision, this is Not A Vacuum. DJK is an actual person and like Brennedyblr memes but I cannot emphasize enough that even putting aside his generally more horrible/shock value articles including the

DJK HAD SOCIAL CURRENCY ON THE WIKI WHILE IT WAS KNOWN THT ADMINBRITE WAS A PREDATOR AND NOTHING WAS DONE

SOCIAL CURRENCY THAT HE ABUSED, REPEATEDLY, TO MOCK, BULLY, AND GET BANNED PEOPLE HE DIDN’T LIKE (I PERSONALLY KNOW PEOPLE THIS HAPPENED TO) 

SOCIAL CURRENCY HE ACTIVELY USED TO WRITE SHIT LIKE THE MANY BRIGHTS ARTICLE WHICH ALSO INCLUDED SEXUAL ASSAULT “JOKES” W THE CHARACTER -- “JOKES” THAT WERE NOT EDITED OUT, AND

HE WAS IMPLICATED IN THE ALLEGATIONS DROP. LIKE DJK ALSO LITERALLY HAS ALLEGATIONS OF PREDATORY BEHAVIOR AGAINST HIM

This is not just virtue signaling -- it is an active and disingenuous PR move to pretend signal that the wiki is ~doing something~ about the crimes committed by Adminbrite and their ilk, despite the fact that there remain active users on the wiki who were implicated by the allegations, including the user pushing this

The people who were in power when this happened are still in power. I have seen 0 evidence of anything actually systemically changing in how the wiki institutions work, how insular they are, etc. that would stop something like the environment that allowed Adminbrite AND OTHERS from committing such crimes again. This is a move to nominally pretend to reject the criminal with the most publicized atrocities to make the highlevel wiki seem “safe” and “changed” when it is afaict not which is at BEST fucking nothing and at worst Actively Predatory In Itself

Basically if we’re renaming Dr Bright on one hand I get that but on the other hand it is NOT going to fucking be to Elias Shaw bc I do not trust this move one motherfucking iota and neither should you

Probably the only post I'll make about this

Howdy! I don’t really make posts like this very often but I’d love to spread some awareness of things and just get my thoughts out there!

 Recently in the SCP fandom, there’s been a very heated debate on renaming the character Jack Bright to Elias Shaw along with a total rewrite of him to what is essentially a completely different character and not just a remake. 

 I feel like this rewrite is more of a cover-up and a chance to make the wiki look better than anything and that’s not mentioning the various issues there are with the creators of it. It’s painting the issues with AB in a way that makes it as if they’re the only issue when in reality, the entire wiki has a history of corruption, grooming, doxing, racism, misogyny, etc. Wiki members have been banned for just speaking out against other members or spreading awareness of what goes on with wiki staff. I would like to believe that some of the actions of Shaw’s creators are just ignorance but that can only go so far before it’s intentional and actively harmful.

 Some users have made their own rewrites and I support that as long as they acknowledge the origins of Jack Bright and spread awareness about his creator in any way they can without just covering it up and hiding it further. It’s important to learn from the past and not repeat it.

 If you don’t like Bright and prefer Shaw, that’s fine, but do not attack people that prefer him and vice versa. Don’t send hate, don’t send death threats. I would like it if people could just be civil about this but unfortunately that’s not always the case and some people just don’t know how to have calm discussions or step away to continue something when they’re in a better headspace. It’s irritating.

 I personally am going to continue using the character Jack Bright in my SCP fics, art, and other things. I believe the character belongs more to the community than anything and other writers have done far more for the character than AB ever did. Covering up the character and removing everything relating to them would only stop more people from learning about AB and the wiki’s issues.

Honestly it really saddens me that when I look back at my scp album (I make albums for every main fandom I’m in) all that comes to mind is how much mental distress the whole of the fandom caused me, my friends, and so many others. Seeing as Bright is still my comfort character everyone’s insistence on completely erasing him triggered my OCD so badly that I spent days, if not weeks, archiving everything in pictures, google docs, and files that I would check repeatedly multiple times a day and I was well off compared to others who suffered much worse mentally, I still have an unanswered ask in my inbox from an anon who wanted to unalive themselves due to feeling like they lost their comfort character(Bright) and I still have no idea how to respond to that.

I literally joined the fandom because I was under the assumption that since it was a Creative Commons community this type of drama and erasure wouldn’t happen since there was no company or person being directly financially compensated for anything. So I figured no one would have an issue supporting anything on the wiki but it appears I was wrong obviously. The whole Bright can’t be separated from his author argument is still absolutely ridiculous as well as anyone can engage in disgusting roleplay with any character.

But back to the fandom, the wiki users and Scp content creators dropping the character and acting all morally superior was incredibly gross and performative considering most of them were around when AdminBright was still active on the wiki and had nothing to say or qualms about using the character until AB was banned and people started turning it into an issue. Then there was DJK, who still has allegations of sleeping with a freshly turned 18 y/o and attempting to provide them with alcohol, who decided to use the lists deletion to try and get clout with his own character. Which so many people decided to switch over too completely ignoring the fact that DJK was complacent in ABs predatory behavior on the wiki and that DJK himself also has allegations against him. The only silver lining to Shaw is that one of AB’s victims is working with DJK which in its own way is odd considering how they were brought on to work on Shaw with DJK who as previously mentioned also has allegation’s of predatory behavior against him.

The fandoms response wasn’t much better you had people switching over to Shaw which they only used as a rename instead of as their own character which was what the victim wanted as they don’t want Shaw simply being a repaint of Bright. You had people here on Tumblr demonizing Bright fans for not being able to move on from the character like they were, because they somehow assumed that just because they were able to detach themselves from the character that everyone else could too, completely ignoring the fact that most Bright fans are young, mentally ill, and/or neurodivergent. Those same people would use the excuse of trying to protect the victim’s feelings and mental state’s, again completely ignoring the fact that their causing thousands of other people so much pain and distress all over using a character. Then you had people fear mongering and accusing Bright fans of potentially giving AB new victims with their usage of the character which makes no sense considering AB has completely disappeared from the internet and I doubt them flaunting the fact that they created a niche character on the internet is going to be impressive enough to get them any irl victims.

All in all this has to be one of the most distressing fandom experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve been in a lot of fandoms. Literally the only good part was the friends I’ve made along the way, and they were the only reason I remained in the fandom for so long. Due to this experience this will be the last fandom I’ll ever join that’s a community lead fandom, because for as bad as your usual fandoms can be at least people understand how to separate the work from the company’s that create them.

Hello everyone this will be the LAST post i make about this situation (unless something else comes up)

I will continue to do requests featuring Shaw/Bright but i will be replacing the names with my friends version. @thesimpgod13 which will be Dr. 'Robby' Ambrose as that's much more safer than using possible predators characters.

Until the fandom comes to a decision about if Dr Bright is being replaced or not then i'll be sticking with this version (and no the creator of this person isn't bad, i personally know them and they're a great person lol)

Furthermore i will be discontinuing my X reader on Wattpad (aka 'Memory once lost') until further notice, I spent DAYS working on that book and HOURS renaming it to Shaw out of respect for the victims.

And honestly i'm too tired to go back again and rename them, so the book will remain with no further updates till something happens.

I hope everyone understands and i'm sorry for all these changes, i just don't wish to hurt any victims by using any name that maybe harmful towards them

I will be posting requests soon i just need a bit. (All previous posts featuring Shaw/Bright, will remain as i'm too tired and overwhelmed to go back and change them. But all future posts will have Dr Ambrose in them)

this is a post i would really rather not make because i think the degree of petty drama its caused is in itself symptomatic of how childishly hung up we are on this one fucking character but:

admin bright has actively leveraged the notoriety of their character for grooming as recently as 2020. it is impossible to separate the art from the artist in this case, as the art has been, and might still be used as a tool for luring in victims. the continued prevalence bright both on the wiki itself and in fandom is actively providing a platform to a groomer. creating fanwork of the character is a genuine moral failing at this point.

the scp canon possesses a uniquely immense breadth and variety of ideas and stories. you can find something else to get attached to in there, or if you can't let go of scp-963, engage in a bit of creative writing yourself and create an oc to fill its slot. the world is your oyster here.

i won't ever make anything with bright in it again, and neither should you. and i'd honestly rather you get off my blog if you can't muster up that bit of spine.

Hello! I know you're one of the people who ship Moon and Solar (TSAMS) And y'all have gotten me into the ship as well! XD I'm not caught up on the lore of the show(s) So i haven't even seen Solar IN SHOW before (i am very behind to before Lunar was Sun and Moons brother :' D) But I have some ideas I'm debating writing for the ship buttt....I have no clue how Canon Solar acts??? Do you know if theres somewhere I could find a Summary on his personality? (and I suppose...new Moon?) I'll probably unintentionally make them OOC...never written for anything TSAMS related, but i'll try!

And is there a ship names thats...like used for them instead of Solar X Moon or is it just called that?

Heheheh. Thank you. I've been shipping these two since June 2023 so I'm glad I can share the brainrot and some people are more welcoming and cool then I expect. (mostly the ones who can't think critically are the youtube audience but that's expected. Since a lot of the youtube target audience are... like.. minors or really young adults who can't conceive the concept.)

I rewatch that Episode where Solar changes his name and rebuilds the Daycare in a week just for Moon constantly cause it's just... so much admiration and appreciation Moon has for Solar in that episode. I swear I don't know if it was a flub on the actor's part... but I swear Moon calls him 'sexy' as he's dragging him to charge. the stock sound effect of "OOOOH" doesn't help my APD and I've listened so many times and I have no possible idea what Moon could be saying to Solar other then 'come here you stupid, sexy-...." (trails off) sooo... idk. I might have misheard that severely but that's just what I'm hearing.

Like, in terms of New Lore of the show, it gets pretty complicated.

So complicated in fact, TSAMS themselves released a new video on the subject.... But it's NOT a very good guide, as it misses a lot of things. (and no I don't mean the stupid guest cameo stuff) this is more or less an abridged take on what happens with no emotional impact:

Like, this is a good starting point if you want the barest of bones, but it misses so much stuff. I think they don't even mention how Solar gets introduced into this family. lol. Just like "yeah Im here and I helped kill Eclipse" fheahehf. It's a super well made video though, and I don't mind the editing mistakes (clearly when the actors change the avatar on screen.... whoops. Happens a few times)

There is also the Fan Wiki, but as of now, it is incomplete, (@twinanimatronics is working tirelessly on updating the wiki and I wish they got more reconignition from the tsams community as a whole ) but it does give a decent look into Solar

There is also the huge TSAMS Lore Document, which Ceph(twinanimatronics) also worked on which contains a further detailed explanation of the story so far, for those who don't have time to watch 2 years worth of youtube content that aren't in a concrete playlist. (TSAMS. PLAYLIST YOUR STUFF PROPERLY. YOU HAVE TWO YEARS OF LORE HERE)

Liike.... yeah... this is okay but like..

This is VRchat. Aka the lore. Which also includes when they play videogames in VRchat, which don't impact the story... Like Uno, Amongus and SCP stuff.....

And it doesn't divide the arcs. Something that TSAMS severely needs more then any other SB Show channel.

Also, in the early days, the gameplay videos USED to be part of the lore. As the concept of Eclipse itself, being a rouge evil ai that lived in Sun's head (as it was presented initially but we know the truth it was the killcode moon planted in Sun when they separated.)

These days, they kinda dropped the gameplay videos being directly connected to the over arching plot. Other then just saying that their vids are pre-recorded or "we're back" after an annual halloween takeover.

Not to mention... When Earth and Lunar got a show, they became intertwined with the Sun and Moon show. LAES is very much it's own thing, but it's the ONLY Security Breach Show that consists of two Original Characters spawned from the Sun and Moon show. A rarity. So their lore continues off from the Sun and moon show, giving more info on Lunar these days and Earth (their sister)

Then you have the Monty and Foxy show (which is my least favorite of the shows... Personal Preference. I try not to complain cus I know some people like it. But I do not like the plot points in that show, or the character writing and weird directions they take while being connected to the same universe.)

And Monty is a character voiced by Davis, who also voices Sun. So Monty started out as a prominent character on the Sun and Moon Show, and then got his OWN show... at a point in TSAMS history after Eclipse got the star and killed Lunar.

So yeah. I wish the playlists were better organized here. So we knew when each era starts.

(people say Matpat should get on this show lore... And noooooooo no thanks. Keep him away. We got you covered. Ceph honestly has enough info to make a video guide at this point.)

But long story short, Solar is a "Good Eclipse" from another dimension that the Old Moon introduced to Lunar, when Lunar was struggling with his trauma of leaving Eclipse. Good Eclipse and Lunar become friends.

Anyway, here are some key episodes that outline NewMoon and Solar's relationship, as Solar had never met the Old Moon.

Old Moon had never met Solar. It was New Moon who introduced himself to Solar to help defeating Eclipse once and for all. (and by this point lunar had died)

He was actually surprised that this Moon was a chill Moon and could be reasoned with and talked to, considering he was living a rather oppressive life from his own Moon.

There's also a whole episode saga of just these two bantering and talking while they work on the satellite together. I can't remember which specific episodes those are.

You can also see the difference between the Evil Eclipse and Good Eclipse here in one of my all time favorite episodes:

Moon saving Solar's life: (also the death of the bad Eclipse)

Everything is good and happy after Eclipse dies for awhile. (aside of Ruin and Bloodmoon wrecking shit) He goes back to his own dimension... and you get to see what his sad life is like:

From his Moon calling him "byproduct" and failure very often.

But... Something happens and Solar is forced to come to Moon's dimension

here's Solar at his poor little meow meow "I have nowhere to go" stage and just... thought to go to Moon immediately due to their history.

Moon's only question about Solar moving in, is that if he wanted him to blacklist his dimension once he heard what was going on with his Moon.

And immediately, Solar jumps in to help Moon with his problems.

Also during the halloween takeover part 2 electric boogaloo, Solar was the one to help get Sun and Moon back after being teleported to a different dimension with no hopes of returning

Also, after Ruin was cured and Bloodmon ran off, Solar rebuilt the ruined Daycare in a week. And Moon is so grateful for it. (i rewatch this episode a lot. It cemented the ship in my mind and built the commodity that they've been building up for months)

We also get what Solar's daily life is like so far... How out of place he feels, being someone from a different dimension, despite the Brothers (and sister's) insistence, he still doesn't really feel like he's part of the family. He feels like an outsider. (He also has less opportunities to hang out with Lunar. As he expressed interest in playing games with him like the good old days, and as of recently, they have not yet)

also a good example of the Celestial family changing minds on family dynamics because they are robots. Lunar flat out rejected Vegeta-Animatronic is his brother even if he technically is. Like, they're robots. They can change their relationships to each other based on their word. I like to see it more flexible then it is in reality with actual people/humans.

Moon also trying to make Solar feel comfortable and feel like he's adjusting well here. Expressing his concern for him doing so much for him and his family. And hoping to not pressure him into so much work.

As of recently, his Sun died, and he killed his Moon. And in his therapy session (on the Lunar and Earth Show) he expressed regret over "Leaving" them...

But he has not properly told anyone about this.

My reasoning is that he probably thinks that the family will jump on the chance to call him "Evil" .....They don't have good luck with Eclipses.... and every Eclipse they met other than him has been Evil. (that must weigh on you. Every version of yourself is deemed as evil across every dimension. You are the only good one. Maybe there is something wrong with you)

I'm already at the video limit, but on Lunar and Earth show, there is an interesting episode where Lunar goes into Solar's head, and his mindscape looks like the Willy Wonka TV room, because it was a movie he watched with his Sun before they separated and Sun died. Showing that he did care about his Sun a whole lot... Which is probably why he doesn't interact with our Sun that much alone.

He also compartmentalizes everything before he can feel emotions, playing his own memories in third person as if he's not experiencing them.

Not to mention, he organizes and separates his thoughts on NewMoon and HIS Moon, just so he won't associate the two.

I also missed what episode it was, but Solar is always the first to call Moon out when he's being angry, or irrational, and Sun admits in his therapy session, that Solar is the only person who can calm Moon down. (mainly cus he's used to it, but unlike his old moon, this moon listens)

Anyway...

If I don't sound rude for asking, what exactly is going on with the mischaracterization of Kondraki? (My under-a-rock self tends to only find out about fandom drama like weeks after it happened)

It's not fandom drama, don't worry.

Just my personal feelings towards something that's so widely liked in the scp fandom despite it being thrown around as a stupid joke on wiki and doesn't even really work with those involved unless you seriously mischaracterize them to force it. I'm just taking as much space away from it as I possibly can right now.

In December of 2023, I was sexually assaulted by my ex, who is known in online writing spaces like the SCP wiki as the user Uraniumempire.

I was intoxicated and unable to give consent, and xe took advantage of that. At the time we had broken up, but were still living together. While my feelings had changed, I still cared about xer and trusted xer.

We even still shared a bed, though it is a one-bedroom apartment.

In the immediate aftermath I felt… off. I knew things had happened. I had the bruises to prove it. It was fuzzy. I knew I felt regret. When I realized what had happened, at first I blamed myself. I had lead xer on, I had entrapped xer somehow.

It took weeks for me to come to terms with what happened. When I did, I told xer and we parted ways. We no longer live together. I do not know where xe is now. I have not spoken to xer in a while.

I don't know what I can even say anymore. After the breakup and the assault and everything that happened last year, I really feel utterly broken. I regularly struggle with suicidal thoughts. I'm tired all the time.

I have this feeling like, how could this happen to me? Aren't I supposed to be stronger than this? This shouldn't be affecting me like this. I'm the big tough butch gal. I lift heavy things. I don't deserve this.

I don't know if anyone will see this. I don't know if anyone will care. I frankly don't care if anyone in the SCP Community or whatever sees this. Some of you know already. I feel like a whisper campaign is insufficient. Just, for fucks sake don't make a fucking callout post or something. My rape is not your drama fodder. I just can't keep it bottled up anymore.

I'm angry. I'm hurt. I'm barely making it day to day. I don't know if this will help, but screaming about it isn't an option so this is probably the closest to catharsis I will come. From here on out, it's just... The Healing Process or whatever the fuck. Whatever that even means. Fucking buzzwords.

I'm going to go to bed.

My god, wiki users on Twitter are so annoying. They keep trying to push this stupid narrative that Dr Bright and AdminBright are the same when they know that’s not true, they all just want the morality points I guess, nevermind the fact that most of them had nothing to say when AB was still creeping around on the wiki.

Tails somehow stumbles onto the SCP Foundation Wiki and mistakenly thinks that it's an ACTUAL organization and everything on the site is real. (Bonus: A writer on the site made an SCP article about them and mentions the special containment procedures being either a plan being made to contain them or are actively being watched/spied on.)

Sometimes, things can stump the smartest kid on earth.

Tails’ discovery of the SCP foundation was through accidental eavesdropping on the older kids at his school. I say accidental, because with those big ol ears, he can’t help but hear everything.

He decided to look it up and the results made him feel less than pleasant.

Bros scrolling on incognito and a vpn so he isn’t too worried about those folks hunting him down.. and he gets to learning about all these entities.

He learns about the creature who’s face cannot be seen, the make up, the weird drama mask, even the back rooms.

Then he stumbles upon a joke post about him and his brothers being escaped entities from the foundation. He knows that isn’t true, but he wonders.. are they looking for him?

He spends sleepless nights checking back on the post, where people are adding more info. Until Sonic finally asks him what’s up.

When Tails shows Sonic what he found, he’s shocked his brother is laughing. THEYRE BEING TRACKED BY TWO GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. Then Sonic explains to tails that the SCP foundation doesn’t exist, and that people made it up to have an excuse to make weird entities that wouldn’t fit anywhere else. He also explains creepypastas while they’re at it.

Tails facepalms “oh man I was so worried! They had me fooled! Me!” He is so embarrassed. Sonic laughs “hey, be glad you’re not the main face of a creepy pasta. It could happen to any of us. Even me.” “You’d make a good one!”

“Yea it sounds pretty terrifying trying to hide from a creature faster than the speed of sound that is actively hunting you down to murder you.”

Tails and Sonic laugh about how ridiculous it all is.

So I went to the Skullgirls official YouTube channel and went to check some of the videos there, especially the shorts.

So before the grand censorship of Skullgirls, sometime before July, the views were about in the tens of thousands. Then there's a day there where the views just dipped.

So I went and checked some of the comments over some of the shorts and I say, it's more civil than I thought it'd be. I took the liberty of screenshotting some of them and a particular title from a short on the Skullgirls YouTube channel.

So the first one.

There's a particular phrase within this exchange that really exemplifies how I feel about myself during this entire debacle and me still wanting to play and support Skullgirls Mobile.

"I personally won't insult them but if they still support the game after that, it changes my view of that person."

This just makes me so sad. This stranger, whom I most likely won't ever meet, would think bad of people like me. Would think bad of me. Would see me as an enemy. As a lesser being. This rustles my jimmies.

Yes, I find the censorship abhorrent but I'm not that petty to abstain from playing the game because, contrary to popular belief, the game still runs fine. Yes, a certain aspects of Skullgirls soul has been taken by the censorship and a few key details that made some narratives within the game be more layered but I'm not one of those people who makes analyses. I'm just your average Juan that wants to play a game because I find it fun.

During these kinds of controversies, there's always a question I have. Am I the villain here?

I prefer the official translations of manga save for the ones from Seven Seas. I find scanlations to be terribly inconsistent. Am I the villain here?

Kurzgesagt made a video that said they were wrong and a huge chunk of folks online claim that Kurzgesagt pushes an agenda. I still enjoy watching their videos, am I the villain here?

Skullgirls, a franchise that I was made aware of through their mobile game, who during the pandemic has helped me cope with the time and the mental anguish away, the elements game which drew me in was the sexiness, the panty shots and the art style plus the gameplay and gacha elements. There has been an update that censors various elements in the game. I still play and have made purchases in their mobile game because I enjoy the game. Am I the villain here?

Although I do love how the conversation ends. So mature.

I consider myself to be part of the new audience and making Skullgirls Mobile be a hit everywhere should be something I should strive for. Maybe I'll try to do just that.

Edit: So this one is something. "Real fans" they say. What makes a fan? Is it money spent or time spent? Is it saying how much you love the thing? I can say that I am a fan of the SCP Wiki. That I spent countless hours reading the articles, learning the lore. I was not big on communities but I know what I know and I loved every second I spent reading those articles. Then the drama happened and the dip in the quality of writing.

I was disappointed with how things really turned out but I still hold the wiki dear to my heart. I remember just going around and collecting various artworks online of SCP. I also found joyreactor through my searches of other SCP media.

Was it a phase? Am I not a fan? Similar to Skullgirls or the mobile version of it? I was late to the party but I liked the game and I took the time to learn all that I could about it. I am disappointed with the censorship. What can I say? I'm not a true fan. I'm just a guy who finds it appealing but ain't willing nor do I have the drive and moral to oppose this vehemently. I was ignorant of the LGBSCP thing but I noticed the dip in the writing quality. The difference between Skullgirls and the SCP thing to me is that SCP truly abandoned its roots for something else and it's not really something I'm rooting for. A few gems but nothing like Series 1.

Skullgirls, I can tell, are still horny. Black Dahlia has panty shot. Cerebella, Parasoul, Valentine. They have the pantsu shot. I always intend to know the nuance. I have screenshot Filia and Cerebella to see if one can see their underwear in the frames. I have found out that you still can but they become a "blink and you'll miss it" thing which is quite a disappointment, I must admit. They were quite a pretty sight.

P.S. I understand how they would go with making this title but...

Quite low of the devs. I mean if this is how they treat their old fans, I wonder how they'd treat their still fans and newer fans. I pray they don't go full EA or Ubisoft with their game cause fucking hell.
