Here’s yet another budding eatery around the lively city of Santa Rosa. While its rustic motif seems fragmentary from the get-go, you’ll eventually find yourself wanting to go back because of their immaculate meals.

This café’s just a one-minute walk from our place, and I’m thankful that restos such as Tito Chef is within reach. I don’t need to go to SM Sta. Rosa or any similar restos offering palatable dishes.

Pros:

✔️ FRIENDLY, FRIENDLY STAFF. Once you enter the gourmet house, you’ll be greeted with polite staff. Commendable customer service indeed. ✔️ Food’s relatively cheap. For as low as 129 PHP, you may buy a flavorful bowl meal with tasty toppings.

Cons: ❌ No WiFi. Listed this as a con as the vibe here is ideal for working remotely. ❌ Their coffee selections aren’t the best. In fact, they offer the worst coffee drinks around the area. The flavor of ice overpowers the taste of their iced coffees, making them less delicious. I also remember sending a complaint upon seeing floating dead ants on my french vanilla mocha; however I was awed by their swift response and told me that my next coffee drink purchase’s on them.

Anita Ribeiro de Jesus, conhecida como Anita Garibaldi, nascida no ano 1821, em Morrinhos, atual Laguna (SC). Em 1935, foi obrigada a casar-se aos catorze anos, com uma pessoa com quem não tinha a menor afinidade, mas abandonou o marido. 

Em 1839 conheceu Giuseppe Garibaldi, um italiano que fugia de uma sentença de morte na Itália. Anita se apaixonou, ela estava com 18 anos. Enquanto estiveram juntos, tiveram cinco filhos um deles morreu aos dois anos e outro junto com a mãe. Anita seguiu seu marido nos combates em Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguai (Montevidéu) e Itália, onde presenciou a proclamação da República Romana, em 1849, mesmo ano da sua morte.

Marinheiro mercante, os conhecimentos de Garibaldi foram fundamentais para os rebeldes gaúchos e catarinenses que estavam em guerra contra o governo imperial. Este episódio passou à história como Revolução Farroupilha ou Guerra dos Farrapos.

Anita Garibaldi se uniu a Giuseppe, com ele lutou pela implantação da república do Rio Grande e tiveram seu primeiro filho. Mais tarde, iriam para o Uruguai onde combateriam o ditador argentino Juan Manuel Rosas. Em Montevidéu, se casariam e nasceriam mais três filhos do casal.

Em 1847, Anita Garibaldi vai para Itália saber se o marido poderia retornar ao país e com isso, ambos se juntam, em 1848 pela unificação italiana, tentando expulsar os austríacos da região da Lombardia. Durante a campanha, porém, Anita adoece, os austríacos saíram vitoriosos e Garibaldi não aceitou a derrota e partiu. 

Anita foi junto, vestida como homem. Foi sua última viagem. As cavalgadas noturnas, a má alimentação e as noites ao relento minaram sua saúde. Ela estava grávida do quinto filho. Ao chegar à República de São Marino, ardia de febre. Em 1º de agosto, no litoral tomaram barcos para alcançar mais rápido Veneza, mas foram perseguidos por uma esquadra austríaca. Dois dias depois chegaram a uma fazenda em Mandriole, perto de Ravena, Anita não resistiu e morreu na Itália, num dia frio e com perseguidores por toda a parte, no dia 4 de agosto de 1849, junto seu filho de poucos meses ainda no ventre. O corpo da brasileira foi enterrado no cemitério da Igreja de San Alberto, em Madriole.

Em 1932, seus restos mortais ganharam um mausoléu em Roma.

Em 2012, seu nome foi inscrito no Livro dos Heróis da Pátria, em Brasília.

Por sua participação em guerras nos dois continentes, Anita Garibaldi é chamada de paladina da liberdade ou “Heroína dos dois Mundos”.

Enchanted Kingdom

Enchanted Kingdon (EK) is one of the largest and best theme park here in the Philippines. It is located in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The park is managed and operated by Enchanted Kingdom Inc. It has a land area of 25 hectares (62 acres).

Enchanted Kingdom is not only for kids but also for those who want to experience being transported back to their childhood. No stress, just fun and games, and pure bliss! This place is excellent for spending time with family or friends.

This theme park hosts 31 rides and attractions. Among the attractions is the Space Shuttle, a roller coaster, and the Wheel of Fate, a 39.62-meter-high (130.0 ft) Ferris wheel with 36 gondolas (each with a 6-person capacity), and the Agila: The EKsperience, a flight motion simulator ride.

Operations of Enchanted Kingdom were with difficulties during its first years from 1995 to 2002, with the 1997 Asian financial crisis affecting the business significantly only recovering from the financial breakdown in 2003. When business stabilized, the management began introducing two entertainment units per year. Business grew and was later registered the highest daytime visit to an amusement park in Region IV (Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions) according to the Department of Tourism. Domestic visitors comprise the majority of the amusement park's visitors.

Archer's Tale

When can cheating be excused? When it saves life, she said.

Four years ago, Alectis woke up to a day that felt like anything but normal, and oddly enough, she did not question it. I teased her about it, concluding that maybe it was because her body was not used to being early for school. She entertained the joke, but her chuckles sounded unusual. Sensing the atmosphere, I stopped myself from dropping a remark about gifting her an alarm clock so she would know that she cannot arrive in the school on time if she leaves ten minutes before the start considering that she was coming from Santa Rosa, Laguna.

After preparing, she went to the terminal to board whatever vehicle was there as long as it can take her to her then school, Mater Ecclesiae, at the fastest way possible. Alectis was impatient, to say the least. It was her fault for being tardy, but of course, it was her story so it was the tricycle’s fault for not waiting for her.

“Ayoko roon, malapit na mapuno, e. Ang sikip kaya,” Alectis stated. Aside from being impatient, she was picky, too, I said. She argued that she was just carefully thinking about her well-being. 

Two tricycles came to her rescue, and even though the tricycle with purple as its dominating color was ahead than the tricycle that embodies the mixture of red and yellow, she perfectly knew where she had to be. Her fascination for the color orange started when she first watched the sunset and the sky was covered in what she might consider as Tigger’s territory, or maybe a place Velma Dinkley can enjoy, and a field where Garfield can sleep all day. 

The huge seemingly vertical infinity sign glaring at her through her phone told her she probably had to sign a late slip again. Realizing that she had a lot of time to waste, she did something that we both enjoy—playing mobile games. 

Everything was vague, according to her, and she was not sure if she remembered every single detail correctly. All she knew was that one minute, the driver was driving carefully and everything was fine, and then the next, the sound of squealing tires resonated in the whole place. 

Alectis was fine, alright, and she knew what happened was not something to be thankful for, but she cannot help but to be glad she did not ride the purple tricycle as it was the one who got into the minor accident. However, it was not still clear to her whether it was her fascination with her favorite color or her intuition controlling her decision that saved her life that day, but surely it was an unforgettable event for her and for everyone involved. Date not specified, but she remembered being excited for her birthday, and considering that it fell in the month of Christmas, I hovered around the last week of November.

Preferably a person that radiates a golden retriever energy, can get along well with others without much effort, and just someone who can tolerate her were enough points to pass her standards. Not much attention was given to physical appearance because personality over looks has always been her motto in finding her own prince charming. She can be a hopeless romantic sometimes, and it was not totally a bad look for her, I must say.

It did not come as a surprise that she loves being around cats even though her criteria for boys was the opposite. At the age of 9, she swore to herself that another year will not pass without her not owning a pet. The dream was fulfilled and for the past eight years, she has tried purring for different cats.

Whether it was a blue lemonade or a cucumber one, it completely depends on her mood. She denied being indecisive, but her constant questions about what color would look more fitting in her brown pants tell a different story. At this point, I was honestly thinking of chalking her entire personality up to her being a sagittarius.

Time will pass, and everything is bound to change. For the following year, maybe she would finally choose between blue lemonade and cucumber juice. Maybe she would see the beauty in purple someday. Maybe she would like a person who is the opposite of everything she wanted in a boy. Her answers may not be the same with what will come out of her lips years from now. But for today, this is the story she has to tell.

During the finale, Bernabe inspired all 3 coaches together (Bamboo Belardo Mañalac of Kamp Kawayan, Kristine Zhenie Lobrigas Tandingan of Team Supreme and Martin Ramon Razon Nievera of MarTeam) along with her LIVE rendition of 'Sino Ang Baliw', an original pinoy music (OPM) track with Kuh Hashim Ledesma, whose a Bacolodnon singer of Negros Occidental. With her wonderful performance, she sealed her victory and gained the admiration of the coaches, as well as the studio audiences in person.

Bernabe garnered an average and final percentage of public votes at 51.05% to steady her win, even as Rai Fernandez from Camarines Sur, Bicol came in 2nd place with 40.65%. And Xai Martinez from Caloocan, Metro Manila ends last in 3rd place with 8.30%.

The 12 y/o champion of the season, not only took home the coveted title but also PHP1M (roughly U$D18,000) in cash from ABS-CBN under a flagship network station Kapamilya Channel: Manila. Additionally, she was awarded a Management & Recording music contract with Universal Music Group Philippines Inc. (UMGPi).

This victory followed a tough decision for Bernabe during the Blind Auditions, wherein she selected coach Mañalac beneathneath Team Kawayan over Tandigan via Team Supreme. Bernabe's clever decision-making and hard work throughout the season culminated in her being declared the champion of the said singing competition. Following her win, the young pop rockstar expressed her gratitude to her fans, coaches and her hometown of Laguna.

Bernabe hopes to pursue a sole career as a professional Pinay Pop Rockstar in the music industry and representing the City of Santa Rosa, Calabarzon and around the world. However, she will have to wait until she reaches adulthood and meets travel requirements from the Local Government Units (LGUs), aviation security and the officials.

With her skills and dedication, it is only a matter of time before we see Bernabe's name in lights.

Lakbay Sanaysay: Ala-ala ng aming pamilya sa Laguna

Ang paglalakbay ay pinaka masayang gawin kung kasama natin ang pamilya at mga kaibigan. Mga plano na kapag natuloy ay tunay na nakakatuwa. Maraming nabubuong alaala at pagsasamahan tuwing tayo ay naglalakbay. Ika-18 ng Mayo 2016 napagdesisyunan namin na mamasyal sa Nuvali sa Santa Rosa, Laguna na kung saan sama-sama kaming lahat na pamilya ang pumunta doon. Tandang-tanda ko pa ang bakasyon na 'yun dahil na-kompleto kami sa unang pagkakataon. Buong pamilya namin ay sama-samang gumawa ng memories.

Ang lugar na ito ay kilala bilang una at pinakamalaking eco-community sa Pilipinas. Ito ay isang 2,290 ektarya sa isang luntiang kapaligiran na puno ng libu-libong puno at ibon. May mga aktibidad din katulad ng pagpapakain ng mga isda, Sightseeing, Bird Watching, at marami pang iba, ngunit pag papakain lamang ng isda ang naexperience dahil naglibot libot pa kami sa lugar na iyon.

Sa bawat sandali na pananatili namin sa lugar na iyon, ay tila nakakabitin na para bang ayaw ko ng bumalik sa aking Bayan. Sobrang nakakapagod ang nagging paglalakbay ngunit napalitan naman ito nang hinding makakalimutan na karanasan. Sa aming paglalakbay hindi ko maiwasang magbaliktanaw sa aming nagging at magandang karanasan. At gusto kong balik balikan.

As I stepped out of my apartment and started walking in search of food, I couldn't help but notice the train railway near my place. The railway was a sight to behold, with its long tracks stretching out as far as the eye could see.

The railway was a reminder of the simpler times when life was less complicated, and people were more connected to each other. As I continued my walk, I felt grateful for the experience of seeing the railway and the memories it evoked.
