Just when you think they can't make the SCU any worse, they say "bet" and then do exactly that.

I'm gonna be honest with you all, if I hadn't already written a bit of it and promised I'd at least do it as a fic, I don't know if I'd bother to even do STHDC at all. I honestly need a bit of time away from that AU, but I think I could still stand doing it as a fic. But the comic itself? About that...

At this point, I think the only way I could stand doing Dark Crisis as a comic at all is if I retconned the SCU part of it. Maybe if it was just an expansive adaptation of Unleashed, similar to how the Zelda manga expand on the games' plot and Link's character.

Even if I did it because "it's what a lot of people want", to be honest I'd probably be miserable if I had to do specifically a SCU comic. At least if I retool it into something based on just the games, then maybe I could at least slightly enjoy working on it.

Anyway, that's why I'm probably going to delete the STHDC WIPs. I don't have the energy to finish them anymore, so they're not WIPs -- they're just unfinished. If I ever finish them then I'll put up the finished pieces, but I can't promise I'll ever have the energy to put any work into them again.

I hate how littered the blog feels with a ton of unfinished art, and once I've finished Dark Crisis as a fic I think I might be moving on from the SCU, so I honestly want to do a bit of "rebranding". I'll still be in the Sonic fanbase for the games and the fanwork, but that's it.

For now, I'll work on that Team Sonic fic and see how things go. It's simpler to write and it'll be around eight chapters, so it shouldn't take too much time to do.

to make one thing very clear to begin with, tma killing off its queer characters at the end wouldn't be "kill your gays" because it is not rooted in homophobia and/or queerbaiting in order to dodge any queer-friendly allegations. tma has always been openly queer-friendly and its main character is canonically asexual with attractions to multiple genders. folks who would be trying to claim the death of jon or martin or melanie or any other confirmed queer character would be KYG would be making a poor case.

THAT BEING SAID, i have to say i get super fucking nervous when i see folks jumping the gun already and making posts like "you better not fucking dare accuse them of KYG, this is a HORROR and TRAGEDY podcast, you knew what you were signing up for". i have, to date, officially seen 0 posts claiming tma having an unhappy ending would be KYG, and around 10 preemptively telling folks not to complain. 

on one hand i do understand the jumpiness. fandom discourse is not fun for anyone and it has erupted around the most inane shit, so it makes sense to want to kill some foreseeable complaints at the root. on the other hand, it's almost become some fandom woke take now to claim "tma ending tragically won't be KYG" in such an aggressive manner that seems to belie a... weirdly judgy attitude about sadness? 

not all of these posts would be made in bad faith--i don't doubt most of them aren't. but horror being a notoriously gatekept genre even out of all the other genres, and the increasing sullenness from some small groups of people about the prevalence of non-horror fans joining the tma fandom, *i* worry on my part that people mourning their faves and wishing they'd received better narrative treatment, expressing sincere sadness, or even bringing up legitimate complaints, would be swept together as "well you knew what you were getting into" and dismissed as soft-hearted fans not knowing how to take a tragedy. just as much as the tragedy will be cathartic to many (i hope most) people, some people will genuinely find themselves in over their heads without realizing it or wounded in ways they didn't anticipate.

i for my part want to not foster an environment where people feel like they can't talk about how genuinely they were affected by a piece of fiction without getting mocked or sneered at by other unaffected fans for their sincerity. that's it. sometimes yall make me nervous, is all

The funniest thing about Buckshot Roulette is how the total cash you win in the end takes into account the number of times you had to be revived, the beers you chugged, and cigs you smoked.

I can understand how the guy who saved your ass a bunch of times with the defibrillator might demand a cut of your winnings on your way out, but who on earth is keeping that close track of what goes on in the game room?

With the exorbitant prices of $220 cigarettes and $495 beer, my theory is that the dealer's got the table set up like a hotel minibar and is auto-billing you for everything you take. It's the only way I can make it make sense.

hey people!! i’m gonna tell you about our headspace because i think it’s hecking cool and i want to talk about it!!

so!! from the outside, it’s a big castle on top of a hill. when you go inside, there’s an area with a big fancy couch and a screen, and on the screen is what whoever’s fronting sees. there’s also a big kitchen and dining room on the other side!!

on opposite sides of the downstairs area, there’s two staircases. if you go up one, you get to a huge hallway with a bunch of doors. each one is labeled with an alter’s name. if you go through the door, you get to an alter’s room, where they hang out when they’re not active.

if you’re fronting, you can only hear the alters who are downstairs, not the ones in their rooms!!

now the other staircase!! that one leads to dreamland. it’s a little place awsten created when he was younger. the room transforms into anything you want, complete with imaginary friends and everything. you can live in whatever universe you want when you’re in there. only some alters have access to it, we’re not sure why
