Ancient Palestine’s connections to the Greek pantheon 🇵🇸❤️
“[…] the excavations have thrown light upon a far more interesting phase of the early religion of Palestine, namely, the unofficial, everyday religion of the common people. […] figures of Astarte have been found in large numbers.¹ […] The Astarte figures found in southern Palestine, at Lachish, Gezer, etc., are mostly in relief on placques of terra-cotta. It is possible to recognize distinct types: the Phoenician by the prominent hips of the goddess, the Egyptian by the extended arms bearing lotus plants, and others.”- “The Early Religion of Palestine.” Luckenbill, D. D. The Biblical World, vol. 35, no. 6, 1910, pp. 368–79.
“Carried west by Phoenician sailors, Canaanite religious influences can be seen in Greek mythology, particularly in the tripartite division between the Olympians Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, mirroring the division between Baal, Yam and Mot, and in the story of the Labours of Hercules, mirroring the stories of the Tyrian Melqart, who was often equated with Heracles.”- Wikipedia summary of Stories from Ancient Canaan, Second Edition. Reino Unido, Westminster John Knox Press, 2012.
¹ Astarte was often equated with Aphrodite.
May the gods protect the people of Palestine and their land ✊🏼

hey girl, just wondering if you happen to have any decent photos or possible official art of sailor theta, sailor pewter fox, and sailor titanium kerroko? i wanna do fanart of them (!!) but i can't find anything clear or useful, and i'm hesitant about using marco albiero as a reference
Unfortunately, I do not! The only art I've collected of them is fanart. I don't think any official art of the musical-only Senshi (aside from Sailor Astarte) was ever released.
Using Google Images, I was able to track down this pretty good collection of images of Sailor Titanium Kerokko though:
Tumblr media
And here's a decent-quality image of Sailor Theta:
Tumblr media
If you want official images, I would recommend tracking down the musicals they were in and watching them to see what the Senshi look like. Unfortunately there just don't seem to be good images online since the musicals are so old.
Or, because that's such a big pain in the ass, I honestly think using fanart is fine. In particular, I trust Marco Albiero to be as accurate as possible because he has been used for official Sailor Moon art (and is generally an accurate fanartist). When I was looking for images of these Senshi, all of the fanart seemed to be in-line with each other.

Some short- and long-term projects I've had on mind recently.
*Loads of amigurumi, now that I've got two Sterilite bins full of yarn and I don't want to do another yarn run until I've made everyone on my to-do list that I have colours for. (Or at least everyone that my weak-ass wrists and back can handle.)
Vince is definitely next, as he and Dante shouldn't be separated for too long; it remains to be seen if I can do the entire main cast, but I'd like to be able to make all of the starting party, at least.
Beyond original stuff, I also want to do all the Sailor Guardians in Eternal form--plus Astarte (from Sera Myu), Charon, and Bacchus (both OCs). This... might take a while, especially with the need for breaks between projects and the fact that I don't yet have the right shades of red/teal for Mars and Neptune. :U
And, of course, more Pokemon, including a remake of my very first amigurumi, Helios the Kirlia.
*Speaking of Eternal Sailor Guardians: concept art, because winging it generally does not end well for me. (While I dunno if I'll make plushes of these designs specifically, I also have something in mind for an older Eternal Sailor Chibi Moon.)
*Now that I can actually use my damn printer (in short: was improperly loading the paper despite following instructions), two things: more bookmarks, and MAYBE doodle exchanges if anyone takes me up on it. I've been thinking of hanging stuff on my wall again, and I'd rather that stuff be other people's, so...
(If anyone does: flat colours, at the very least.)

I want Astartes to swear like sailors, too! Combat-hormones should work that way. 😁
I can see Space Wolves swearing... and that is about it, the others are to much goody two shoes to profane.

113, M42. Hive World of Pempeta
Flameweaver Kronai Orai was a newer member of the Forges, having only earned his holy suit of ceramite a mere few centuries prior. His abilities to commune with the Immaterium and wreathe his allies in the holy protection of the Divine Dragon rose him quickly through the ranks to his role as Flameweaver of the Fires company.
A mere half-century prior to the Fires at Pempeta, Kronai stood his own against a horde of cultists. As his allies fell or retreated from the fight, Kronai stood tall against the armies of corrupted men, nearly singlehandedly protecting the innocents of Ailur Prime against the forces of the Warp. In honor of his bravery and skill, he was granted a relic in the form of an iron halo, which he proudly accepted as a sign of his being a true angel of the Emporer.
In 113 M42 began the Fires at Pempeta. As the Forges were working to construct defensive pylons to help protect Pempeta from any further invasions, the forces of Chaos appeared.
Led by the daemon primarch Angron himself, the forces of the 12th Legion descended upon the Forges in a bloody rage. Kronai and his unit of veterans were assaulted by warriors of the world eaters, led by the infamous master of executions, Rote von Hemd, who Kronai recognized as he had once left horrible scars upon Apothecary Ionn.
Their forces met face to face, with Kronai's force blade slicing through holes in the armour plates of the khorne berserkers and Rote von Hemd's chainglaive ripping apart the plates of the Forges' veterans. As their bodyguards fell to the chaos and violence, Kronai and Rote met head to head, blade to blade.
A cloak of fire wreathed its way around Kronai, driving back Rote for a moment, but the sons of Angron knew ways to resist the forces of the Immaterium. Rote forced his way through the fires, his blade striking Kronai upon his face, ripping through his helmet and into the flesh of his face.
Kronai awoke in the infirmary of the Ceramite Scales, a retreat having been called and his body, amongst others, having been pulled away. The forces of chaos had overwhelmed the Forges and forced them to abandon the project of the defensive fortifications. Many of his allies refused to look him in the eyes, and as he glanced in a rare reflective panel it was clear why. While Apothecary Ionn had done his best to repair Kronai's head to functionality, it was not pleasant to witness. Burned in his cheek was an eight-pointed star, a sign of the forces of evil.
He entered the temple to the chanting of hundreds upon hundreds of soldiers, sailors, and servants of the Divine Dragon, all praying at their own pacings, voices overlapping in a discordant mess. The smell of incense, sweat, and steel assaulted his nostrils, but Kronai was quite accustomed to it.
It took him near an hour of searching the grand cathedral to find Drakespeaker Freitai, one of the head chaplains of the chapter. He confessed his sins and his struggles to the priest, who took some time to reach to his divining fires and glean what he could from the Divine Dragon.
Upon the completion of his prayers, Freitai returned with one missive for Kronai. There was to be conflict with their brothers again soon. Should Kronai wish to free himself of his shame, he would be granted penance by the Divine if he can best one of the leaders of His enemies in single combat.
It was a simple directive, and while Kronai had fought before against crashing waves of mere mortals, he'd never faced another astartes in single combat to the death in any prior battle. His encounter with Rote, where all of both of their bodyguards had fallen or fled, was his first and only encounter with another of his brothers, and it had not ended well for Kronai. The idea that he must face another so soon left him with a level of fear, but the fear of the corruption upon his face spreading into his mind was far greater. He would do his best on this quest for atonement.

Eternal Sailor Mars amigurumi! I think I learned some things on this one, such as "how to sew both skirts on properly".
If you're wondering why I picked that colour for her tertiary: hot orchid is the closest I have for how I depict her tertiary in my art, and I'm saving orange for Astarte's.
