Oh, right! Here are some dolls I was working on last month. Funnily enough, when I was making my list of price tiers for the custom Bugsnax dolls I considered leaving the Shishkabug line off entirely because I wasn’t sure if making limbs that thin was even possible for me, and after I was crossing my fingers and praying no one would order any… and I got asked for two in a row. These were second only to Daddy Cakelegs in terms of difficulty, but as you can see, I overcame the challenge and am now more powerful than ever before!

Trying to find guided sleep relaxation things as someone totally unable to walk and I’m realising totally disconnected from walking is weirdly hard.

It’s all “imagine yourself walking down the staircase” and “imagine how the earth feels beneath your feet” and it’s … weird.

I used to be able to walk – I have memories where I’m walking – but it’s so long ago now that they feel like poor reflections of what it’s really like. If I try and imagine myself walking I can’t hold all the pieces of movement and sensation and self together and it feels wrong. It’s easier to imagine myself levitating than to produce an accurate imagination of walking which is weird.

So with these relaxation things I’ll be starting to relax and then I’m hit with a reminder that my body works very differently from how it used to, and very differently from most people on the planet. And that’s not especially helpful when trying to sleep.

i love that part in mike’s monologue where he says “i love you for exactly who you are” because that’s exactly what he felt he was missing in his relationship with el. mike thinks she wouldn’t like him for who he really is, so he’s been trying to be someone else for her, someone she might want to keep around. but that’s been making him miserable.

if el doesn’t like him for who he is, that means she’s just staying in his basement, in their relationship, because she needs someone, because she doesn’t have anywhere else to go. if she doesn’t like him, and mike can no longer help her, be useful to her, sooner or later she’s going to realize she doesn’t need him anymore. and she’s going to leave.

that’s why will’s words meant so much to him. because will was seeing mike for who he is (the heart, the leader, guiding the whole party) and telling him that was enough to inspire (him) and make (him) feel brave. making (him) feel better for being different. will was telling him he didn’t need to do anything or be anyone but himself for people to love him.
