OUAT Thoughts Pt.46--Episodes 5-6
I have watched through S5E6; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for those further behind than I am.
—Before we started episode 5, my mom and I were discussing (I say discussing, but it was more like a collective brain-crash) which was our favorite character and which was the one we most vibe with. Neither of us came up with a vibe, although I’m sure I could and would end up very annoyed with myself for the result, but her favorite is Regina and mine is Rumple. These two episodes have only cemented it. He’s just so terribly well-written that I can’t help adoring him. I’d love to know other people’s opinions on either of those, but with my usual caveat: if it involves spoilers for future seasons, I’d still be happy to hear it, but only after I’ve gotten past that point myself.
—That faceless Dark One was a bomb-ass design. That mask was amazing.
—Merlin is gorgeous. I was expecting some old beardy guy, but I much prefer the Sorcerer who actually showed up. And his cloak is awesome. I’m a sucker for cool embroidery.
—Speaking of good clothes and gorgeous people, Regina got a new red dress in Camelot that I am absolutely loving. It’s a different fabric, the shade of red is different (I actually think it’s a shade that’s better suited to her skin tone), and the embellishments are laid out differently. She’s fr not my type in Storybrooke or in any Evil Queen clothes except the outstanding riding habits, but in Camelot she just hits different.
—When Henry set up that date with Violet at Granny’s, I spent the scene thinking about how good her costuming is. My mom’s main takeaway was, ‘if he really liked her, he would’ve poured her Coke instead of Pepsi.’ Which is true. Ain’t no soda like a classic Coke.
—At the midpoint of…episode 5, I think? I thought Henry and Violet were going to be a cool example of how different circumstances could inspire different relationships between the same people—but no, it was so much worse. I’m still waiting to find out what Emma’s motives or goals are, but if she’s justifying hurting Henry for them, she’s definitely up to no good.
—Swaggy that the Charmings know not to trust Arthur in Storybrooke. I was starting to get worried about how long they would be ignorant.
—Also, at this point the Charmings may from time to time include Regina (and Robin; she gets a plus-one) and Hook.
—Emma’s dreamcatcher garage is a scary place.
—When Rumple was reunited with Belle, that stuff he said really got to me. This is legitimately beyond words for me, but suffice it to say I do believe one person can be enough to keep you in the world. Whoever wrote what Rumple said about not letting go because he heard Belle’s voice must believe that too, because you can’t write words that real without one or both of experience and belief.
—Merida. Honey. Sweetheart. Light of my life. That splitting the arrow trick is cool, but you can’t reuse those. Conserve your ammo.
—Okay, so there’s some new backstory for Merida that works better than just the other clans not wanting a queen. Having her fight in a war alongside her father is a cool story bit, and the fact that her aim wavering on the battlefield is what led to the other clans doubting her is a stronger concept.
—She should’ve been a ginger bear. ✨for the vibes✨
—Kinda sad that the teacup is broken. That thing’s been important to me almost as long as it’s been important to Rumple and Belle.
—You know what, Belle has gotten mighty picky. She doesn’t like Rumple when he’s the Dark One, she doesn’t like Rumple when he’s his natural self, and yet around other people she goes on and on about how she’s not giving up on him. Yes, he’s probably his best self now that he’s faced up to his fears, but at some point Belle might want to consider that she doesn’t truly love him. Barely any version of him is good enough for her, which I think says more about her feelings about him than it does about those other versions of him.
—For a while I’ve been debating with myself about whether I’ve wanted Rumple to change so he could be with Belle (which you’ve seen some of the results of already in this review), and I’ve finally reached my major conclusion. I want Rumple to change for himself—not because I particularly dislike him one way or the other or because I don’t think he’s good enough in my opinion or someone else’s—but because I want him to be a person that *he* can be proud of. I want Rumple to be able to look himself in the mirror and like that man. That’s why this personal journey is so satisfying; I’m invested in him for his sake, not for the sake of the people around him.
—I got so many goosebumps when Rumple pulled Excalibur! 😍 *weeps with joy* And I think the best part is that he made a deal with Emma for someone else. Instead of just pulling Excalibur, or refusing to pull it, he only did it in exchange for Merida’s freedom. That is a beautiful counterpoint to the Dark One he used to be and I am entirely here for it.
—Y’all, I think this might be the version of Rumple I’ve wanted to see since the fourth season. He fierce.

BROKEN GLASS
.
Tumblr media
I am a broken glass now.My life broke me MANY TIMES.Still now i am gentle,soft-hearted,blind believer.I am now just normal because of my husband’s(bf) love.Really true love can make a person diamond which can’t be sell to every person and also at the same time all the person can’t  handle a diamond.I have realized and experienced from my own life.We all know that outside people are not at all good. Some people are truely good from heart and most of them are fake people. Our mom also say such that be aware of outsiders and all.But sometimes your mom can be witch, your family can hell your life.Such thing only happened with me.So i will say everyone never believe your family members also ever, always be aware from them. Now going to say you all my story.
Me from kolkata. I did my schooling from cbse board .I am always studious,hard-working passionate student since childhood.TYPE OF MYSELF:passionate & enthusiastic in any kinds of works which really touches my heart. From very small age only i am very serious in everything. When i born my mom’s mother wasn’t happy as i was a girl.I am the 2nd child after my bro.So my maternal  grandmother didnt went to the  hospital to see me when i was born. Okay....i don’t mind.So when i was in class 1 i was raped by my home tutor. He locked the room 3 times when no 1 was there nearby and did sex intercourse with me by using my asshole. He showed me a book of sexual pictures and postures of different types. That time i didn’t understood anything of these.I didn’t have any knowledge that time. One day my mom’s sister found that THE TEACHING ROOM IS LOCKED.When i tried to give a bit of hint to them they said i was interested on boys actually. They said i cant control myself when i see boys.I felt very bad as they blamed me unnecessarily.OK....After that i told my parents that i dont want this teacher please. So they got frustrated with my behaviour and finally the teacher left.i was very happy after that. Then AGAIN  A NEW tutor came. While teaching he also see me badly that was in class 3.After class 10 i was very much interested to go in science stream butt what happend i got confused whether to take science or commerce after class 10 becz  our class 9 teacher was checking class 11 paper in front of us and saying that hardly 1 child passed in physics and all failed. As i didnt had any confidence on myself so i was thinking that if i take science and get failed like those students then my life will be doom forever.SO first entering in class 11 with science then after some days i changed my stream to commerce. For 1 week i did commerce class i found very interesting but left commerce again changed to science stream becz the classmates were not good from heart and werent serious.I didnt  fit in such environment. That phase of my life i saw that i can do anything. No subjects RE TOUGH FOR ME.JUST STUDENTS NEED TO GIVE DIVE IN WHATEVER STREAM OR WHATEVER THING DAT CHILD IS DOING.LOVE MUST ME THERE.The students dont fell in love with subjects or the any work they are doing. They need to feel that subject or work from inside.Especially parents destroy their children mind. They alwys say you need to get alwys good marks,u need to be topper alwys but parents never say that u need to feel ur strength ,ur capabilities,ur love,ur passion, think about yourself, give time to yourself first. They push ourselves that yaaa see all children are going in science stream so u should also go in that stream only.So my family is exactly of that type.Thank god i am just out of box of my family.
YEAH!!!!!!! NOW coming back to myself....so i read 2 times in class 11 with science stream without being failed. When i said my family that i will REPEAT class 11 so they said areee what society will say about u,u r wasting ur years,ur friends wont be talking with u.ALL TYPES OF BULLSHIT THINGS THEY WERE SAYING SO THAT I CHANGE MY MIND. SO  depression came inside me and i tried 2 do suicide by having phynly. MORE THAN 1 WEEK I COULDNT EAT PROPERLY BUT SLOWLY SLOWLY I WAS AGAIN BACK 2 MY NORMAL POSITION.When my frinds saw that i am repeating again 11 they r saying me “r u crazy,u hav so much energy to study all those subjects again”.I said them yes..y not????As i am in deep love with science so.So succesfully completed 11 .IN CLASS 12 I MET MY HUSBAND.REALLY i am blessed to get him in my life.He IS VERY pure, helpful, understanding. For him only i had fallen in love with computer which i hated before. He left many gd colleges for me so that everyday he can see me.One of the painful thing of our relationship is that my family still now didnt accept him becz of their low status and income.
Recently i got molested by my dad few months back only afrer shifting to new house with him. Many times he did sexually abuse with me.While i was sleeping and door wasnt locked of my room and room was fully dark as i alwys switch off light before sleepling. He shifted my maxi till lower abdomen and clicked pics in his ph in such way at midnight. There were 3 different pics of me in different postures. In the morning i was going to wake up and unstable at that moment he pulled my left breast nipple.I was very angry. Then later ONE DAY I WAS SEEING HIS PHONE CASUALLY AND GOT ALL SUCH PICS OF ME AND AFTER SEEING DAT I FEARED AND DELETED ALL PICS.Then one day he touched my shoulder badly while i was eating then took his hands on my left breast and touched.THEN another day he touched my vagina.Another day he touched my butts.Even many times it happened he touched my butts.i said him many times not 2 touch me but still he did ....even my mom also told him not to touch me but all in vain...but when i told all the molestation case 2 my mom,my mom didnt believed and said me dat as he loves u that y,he didnt do anything badly,he is a very good studnt of ramkrisna mission so he cant do such things with u.i then said my bro.he got shocked.my family said me not 2 say any1 about all these.....i felt bad dat none of them protested against this...stil now i hav this depression within me but now i left my home forever and staying in pg.MY HUSBAND SUPPORTED MY DECISION.NOW ALMOST I OVERCAME DAT DEPRESSION..LETS PRAY HOPE FOR THE BST..NOW I AM STUDYING FOR GRADUATION..
###guys from my life i hav experienced dat never believe ur family memebers also.we know we shouldnt belive any outsiders.just b  cautious when u will be choosing person as a trustable, friendly 1.manygirls, boys or trangender people also get raped or molested but they felt ashamed 2 themselves and dont speak up....guys u all shouldnt b ashamed of ..the culprits should b ashamed of doing such things 2 human beings..b fearless, speak up,b motivated and help others to be motivated becz many people cant bear such pain and ultimately do suicide..never do suicide at any situation dear

The Crawling King - Book Review
At the library a couple days ago, a cover sitting on a stand caught my eye:
Tumblr media
The book is called The Crawling King, written and illustrated by Einar Baldvin. It contains seven short stories, all of which fall under the horror. Snippets of writing exist between stories as well. Illustrations accompany every story. I am not an artist, so I can't comment much on the artwork other than how much I loved it. They look mainly like ink drawings with thick line art and are often shaded with scribble or blots. I appreciate how the art changes in some aspects to better fit the atmosphere of the story (for example, using colors vs. just black and white, or varying the “cleanliness” of the line art).
Now for the writing itself:
Baldvin's writing style made me a fan. Each of the stories reminded me of fairy tales, except even darker. Little dialogue exists and the sentences are fairly straightforward. Yet, when the story needs it, Baldvin concisely explains monsters and gut-wrenching horrors that leave me reeling. I don't read horror much, but the ideas presented here feel wonderfully fresh—almost inspirational for my own writing.
The pacing also stood out to me. Sometimes, when I already figured out what the conclusion or twist would be, the story felt as though it was going too slowly. Otherwise, the events unfolded quickly, but not so fast that I missed an event or had to go back and reread. Baldvin slows down when describing the monsters I mentioned above, almost forcing you to look the beast in the eye before letting you move on in the story.
However, as one general criticism, I have to say the stories are hard to read sometimes. The font is a little confusing and in some short stories, such as one titled "Hunger," the increasingly messy tatters of paper forced me to reread sentences over and over, unable to figure out what a word was meant to be. I remember actually just moving on once or twice since I spent far too long struggling to read it. I know this was likely a conscious design decision, but they could've made the text easier to read by perhaps writing the words in a different color, like a blood red. Overall, this is a small issue that hardly tainted the experience.
Also, as I mentioned above, I could reasonably see the conclusion of the story sometimes just by reading the first few lines. This is likely due to foreshadowing, but also partially because some stories are very predictable. Predictability isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it did make the stories drag more than anything. As a result, some of the stories were forgettable or annoying.
For anyone who wants a further review of some of the short stories (including spoilers), I'll put my thoughts on my favorite and least favorite story below. If not, skip to Final Thoughts for my rating and the link to purchase the book.
Favorite: “The Fool who Thought it Could Play the Clavichord”
First of all, this title describes me to a T, so of course I was drawn to it.
Second, to summarize the story, a Fool played the clavichord every year in the town festival. They played terribly. However, the townspeople were happy to plug their ears with cotton so that they could applaud their cherished Fool.
One day, two visitors arrive to the town, just in time for the annual festival. But, after hearing the Fool's performance, the two immediately head backstage and cut the Fool's hands off. The Fool runs away and dies outside the town.
In town, a series of spiders found his hands and drank the blood streaming from them. They communicate with the hands, telling them where to crawl. The hands find and grab the two visitors, dragging both to the forest where the Fool's body lay. The spiders used their silk to reattach the hands to the Fool's body, and the Fool strangles the two to death.
The town mourns the loss of the Fool by leaving a clavichord on the stage when he was supposed to perform. However, the rotting corpse of the Fool would appear each year just to play for the people, more beautifully the more years passed by, for as long as the town existed.
This story's tone takes a far different tone compared to the rest of the stories on the list. The ending feels bittersweet, rather than sickening, twisted, or mockingly sad. The Fool and the town's love of the Fool felt refreshingly sweet amongst the darkness of the story, and even spiders, usually villains, are painted in a good light thanks to them helping the Fool. I appreciate that, even though the Fool was not good, the villagers and even the Fool's family did their best to support the Fool's performing, something that doesn't always happen to people in the current day. Many people struggle to really enjoy an activity when they aren't good or are afraid they may not be good. The only difference is that, in real life, those people will get better, unlike the poor Fool in this story.
Least favorite: "Mother"
A boy named Jarin visits his mother, but instead meets a giant centipede that claims it is his mother. The centipede forces Jarin to stay there. In an attempt to find his actual mother, Jarin tries to enter the bedroom every night. The centipede blocks the way almost every time, but when he finally could peer inside, he witnesses a horrific scene: his mother, momentarily escaping the centipede, before succumbing to dust, signaling the rebirth of the centipede. Jarin continues to try to enter the bedroom each night to see his mother for at least a second, eventually staying so long that he convinces himself that he is happy living like this.
The artwork for this story is some of my favorite and the premise is highly interesting. However, the part that gets grating is the narration. Multiple times, the narrator will state something about how a mother's love kept Jarin from leaving. The story, being only about 10 pages, only really needed this statement once to get the point across. The repetitions continued though, and felt tiring or like a jarring tangent from the story. Understandably, love is a strong motivator in many stories and in life, but stories can accomplish this without rubbing the motivation in the reader's face. Other than the grueling description of the mother's fate, not much stands out about the story.
Final Thoughts:
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of horror. For anyone hesitates to consume horror, just know that I am a coward. So if I could handle it, you can too.
Star Rating: ★★★★☆

Making Waves.
“I live in Florida, my cat’s in the movie. It is incredibly personal.” Waves writer and director Trey Edward Shults opens up about his filmmaking process, reveals the movies that made him fall in love with cinema, and gushes about fellow A24 alum Robert Eggers.
Trey Edward Shults doesn’t want to spoil Waves. We don’t want to spoil Waves either. To even begin to describe its unconventional structure would be a spoiler. We’ve said too much already. Just know it’s a sweeping melodrama that solidifies Shults as one of the defining American voices of the decade.
The coming-of-age family drama centers on brother Tyler (Shults regular and breakout star Kelvin Harrison Jr., pictured above) and sister Emily (Taylor Russell), their relationships and struggles with each other, their parents (Sterling K. Brown and Renée Elise Goldsberry), and first loves (Alexa Demie and Lucas Hedges). This is Shults’ third collaboration with A24 after his DIY debut Krisha (set in the same family house as Waves, and similarly playful with its aspect ratio), and the polarizing horror It Came At Night.
While its structure hasn’t worked for everyone, Waves has captured the enthusiasm of many Letterboxd members in a profound way. “This is the coming-of-age movie to end coming-of-age,” writes ActionTomasello. “The less you know of it, the better it is going into this one.” It’s been added to the popular ‘You’re not the same person once the film has finished’ list, and the film’s soundtrack, collected into this Spotify playlist by Letterboxd member Ella, is one of the most-mentioned contributing factors to its success. Writes Nick: “A soundtrack that’s meant for a specific group of people that I’m a part of. It feels too perfect how someone made a film filled with songs from Kanye, Frank Ocean, Radiohead and many others. It feels like one long, sad, fucked-up music video.”
But no Letterboxd review currently beats Jack’s heartfelt letter to Shults: “Your film has moved me to better myself, to love, and to meet my emotions head on. Thank you.” (He also put it in his top five of all time.)
We caught up with Shults to learn how Waves was conceived and executed, and investigate which films have hit him the hardest.
Tumblr media
Taylor Russel as Emily in ‘Waves’.
You often draw your films from your personal experiences and you’ve described Waves as autobiographical. Can you go into some detail about which life experiences fed into this film? Trey Edward Shults: Where to start? In broad strokes, I was a wrestler and tore my shoulder in the same way as Tyler. The relationships between Tyler and Alexis and also Emily and Luke are inspired by my girlfriend and [me] in the good moments, bad moments, and everything in between. Their parents are inspired by my parents. I live in Florida, my cat’s in the movie. It is incredibly personal, but I had a huge collaboration with Kelvin, and then as more actors came on it got more collaborative, so it really started from this personal place and grew out of that.
How do you reconcile your relationship to your own suffering with the fact it’s become your livelihood and commodity? It’s very strange. When we recreated events in Missouri I think that was the furthest I’ve ever gone. That shoot was an all-consuming dread and I broke down, it was very hard. I would question: “Is this healthy? Is this right?”, but I came out the other side happy I did it. It was cathartic. My mom and my step-dad are therapists and I would be a total mess without them, though I’m not in therapy right now. Working through these movies is a bit of therapy.
I’m trying to make personal things that I hope connect with other people, especially this movie. Going through life and getting to the other side of it and having perspective informed me a lot. Whether it’s just tonally or pacing-wise, I wanted the film to spiritually feel that way.
The film’s photography is remarkable, especially the first act, when you have your fullest frame. Can you take us inside how you executed some of those spinning 360-degree shots? For the car shots we took out the middle console of the truck and put a slider that went from the backseat to the front. Basically, the dolly grip and I were crammed down hiding behind the car seats and the grip pushed the camera from the back to the front. Drew [Daniels, the director of photography] was in the car behind us with a remote, so he’s operating the spinning and I have a monitor in the back. That way I could talk to the kids in the car and I also had a walkie so I could talk to Drew.
A lot of the dynamic camera stuff was a case-by-case scenario, sometimes it was just running behind our steadicam operator or just hiding and letting them go and play. We wanted the camera to be purely motivated by where our main character’s emotional state of mind was, so it’s all coming from them, but then we also wanted to figure out the technical shit and make it feel to the actors that the camera disappeared and we’re not even there. So it was an interesting balance getting there. It’s a second skin for us and we know exactly what we’re after visually, but let’s disappear and let the kids play and we’ll adapt to them.
Since our name is ‘Letterboxd’, I feel obligated to ask you an aspect-ratio question. Can you share with us how you built this intuition to change at will—did you have films you saw that you feel did this well? That’s a good question, because this one really felt like it was building off what I did with Krisha and pushing it further. I do remember The Grand Budapest Hotel came out right before I started Krisha and it had the three aspect ratios to separate [its] time periods, which was really cool to me. I think I got really excited about using aspect ratio to echo the character’s state of mind. That was the goal with that, especially for Tyler’s trajectory.
The soundtrack is getting some acclaim. Do you have any songs you wanted to fit in but couldn’t find the room, or couldn’t clear the rights for? I realized there were so many songs I wanted in it, but the movie told you what works. If you tried to force it on, it didn’t work. It started with the writing and it worked its way organically. The final soundtrack is pretty close to what was in the script though I think a few changed along the way. We got incredibly lucky that we got everything we wanted. I don’t know how we did it. It was a long process and our last song didn’t even clear until after Telluride and Toronto.

There are shades of Chungking Express, Magnolia and Moonlight in the film’s DNA. What were some other films you watched or recommended to your cast and crew as preparation? Funny thing is we didn’t do a lot of movie-watching for preparation. Drew and I lived in the same house so we’d always have a movie on. We were watching The Story of Film a lot—the giant anthology series and study of the history of cinema, incredible. What we watched would totally range, it could be things like Ordinary People and Raging Bull, to The Tree of Life and I Am Cuba, to Boogie Nights and Punch-Drunk Love. We would take inspiration from anything, even a film like Yi Yi. It’s a completely different cinematic approach.
Yi Yi might just be the best film about family, so it’s a good start (Lulu Wang also mentioned it in our recent chat with her about The Farewell). That’s the thing exactly: even though Waves is made in such a different way, I think spiritually they’re sprawling tales of family. That’s one of my favorite movies. For the cast, we didn’t actually talk about movies that much. It was more about Florida, music and the character dynamics and all that good stuff.
Which movie scene makes you cry the hardest? One that just popped in my head is Dancer in the Dark. When Björk escapes in her head doing these musical numbers and it leads to the end, to the most devastating thing possible, it broke me. That movie’s rough, man. That’s not one I could watch and have good cries or something. I can’t rewatch it because it’s utterly traumatizing. I was probably crying for hours after it, I felt dead.
Which film makes you laugh the hardest? The most recent film that made me laugh the hardest is What We Do in the Shadows. I saw it for the first time on an airplane sitting next to a stranger and I think they thought something was wrong with me. Then I got home to Florida and showed it to my girlfriend, and her brother came home and we watched it again. It never got old.
Who was the most relatable coming-of-age film character for you? It’s hard because when I was a teen I was obsessed with sports and then it was music. I’m trying to think who I related to the most. Man, I don’t know. Nothing is coming to mind. Shocking.
What film do you wish you made? I’ll go with There Will Be Blood. It’s the first film that popped in my head.
What mind-fuck movies changed you for life and why? There were three that I saw pretty close together at a young age: Boogie Nights, A Clockwork Orange and Raging Bull. I had a digital cable box in my room, so I would sneak and watch a lot of things that my parents didn’t know I was watching. They just rocked my world. Until that point it was all Aliens and Terminator and every big action movie, so then when I saw those films it was like “this is what movies can be! What the hell is this?”.
I remember with Raging Bull I didn’t actually enjoy it. I was like, “This isn’t Rocky but I can’t stop watching.” It’s like a trainwreck and I’m fascinated but I don’t know if I like it, then I was obsessed with it and it’s one of my favorite movies now. Boogie Nights and A Clockwork Orange felt like a bigger vision was at work. It wasn’t just something made out in the ether, it was a specific singular vision and I cannot stop looking at it.
Tumblr media
Sterling K. Brown in ‘Waves’.
What’s the most overlooked movie from A24? Shoot, I wish I could look at the catalogue right now. I’m just gonna go with The Spectacular Now because I just watched it again on the airplane and I thought it was really beautiful. It’s a good one, man.
Lastly, it’s time for best-of-decade lists. What’s the greatest film of the 2010s? When we interviewed Robert Eggers, Waves was his first choice. Shut up, come on! Oh my god, Rob’s the best. I will say that The Lighthouse is my favorite film of the year, without a doubt. I’m obsessed with it. I could gush about him for hours. He’s not just one of the greatest young filmmakers, he’s one of the great filmmakers working now. Honestly though, for my decade number one I gotta go with The Tree of Life. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time so I would put that at number one, and then The Lighthouse is close to it.
‘Waves’ is distributed by A24 and is playing in select US cinemas now. Photos courtesy A24.

10 Movies to Watch with Your Daughter and Teach Her She Can Change the World
Tumblr media
These movies send motivational messages to young ladies all over the place.
With Netflix, Hulu and everything in the middle of, there's an abundance of motion pictures for families to watch with each other—yet there are a chosen few that guardians should assuredly plunk down to see with their girls.
Some are works of art and some are later, yet the one thing the 10 motion pictures on this rundown all share for all intents and purpose is that they instruct young ladies that, with steadiness and regard for both themselves as well as other people, they can change the world.
1. Moana
In addition to the fact that Moana boasts the most karaoke-commendable soundtrack, but on the other hand it's apparently one of the most women's activist Disney films in Disney history. It's the narrative of a bold 16-year-old who is acutely inquisitive about the world past the reef, much not at all like those on her island who've become careless. At the point when the island starts to gradually pass on, she heads out on an intense crucial secure her kin while wrangling mythical being Maui (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, no less) to direct her on an activity pressed journey to cross the untamed sea and return a stone he'd taken that would spare mankind. Moana offers rest from the customary Disney account in light of the fact that at its middle is a valiant lady of shading whose story has nothing to do with finding a sovereign yet, rather, a ton to do with insubordination and autonomy. It's intersectional third-wave woman's rights in a child's motion picture.
Maui and Moana Meeting
Moana
There's no sovereign or romantic tale right now—and that is reviving.

2. Marvel Woman
Lady Gadot's interpretation of Wonder Woman tells the story of Diana, an Amazonian warrior who understands her maximum capacity when she embarks to battle for what she has confidence in, notwithstanding that leaving her island is verboten. A lot to her mom's consternation, she begins preparing youthful—and she develops into the most proficient warrior of her property. In the wake of sparing a pilot who crashes close by and discovering that the outside world is racked by struggle, Diana escapes home to battle for the individuals. Persevering in her quest for harmony, she is persuaded she can discover Ares, the God of War, and spare the world. It's an engaging story of one lady's responsibility to a reason, her perseverance and her inward and external quality that, at last, changes the world.

The Amazons were genuine! Subsequent to watching this motion picture everybody feels like a superhuman.

3. Recollect the Titans
Recollect the Titans may be one of the most particularly American movies out there—it's about interracial cooperation during a period of exacerbated racial strain. What's more, it depends on the genuine story of the 1971 Virginia state football champions from T.C. Williams High School. The neighborhood educational committee had to coordinate an all-dark school with an all-white school, and the very establishment of football's convention was put to a definitive test when clogged pore mentor, Herman Boone, was contracted to lead the group. Highly contrasting colleagues much of the time conflicted in racially spurred clashes, however after thorough rushes to the Gettysburg burial ground and an inspirational discourse on regard, the group accomplishes racial amicability and, together, an undefeated season as well. Their encounters demonstrate that achievement comes when we regard each other and work together, reasonably.

Two words: Interracial cooperation.

4. Solidified
Solidified is the story of a women's activist, Anna, whose realm is caught in an unending winter when her sister, Elsa, throws a frigid spell. Anna collaborates with mountain dweller Kristoff and his reindeer to discover Elsa, break the spell and spare the realm, doing combating mysterious trolls and unforgiving conditions en route. In any case, when Elsa inadvertently freezes Anna's heart, as well, the main fix to spare her is a demonstration of genuine romance. From the outset she thinks a kiss from her smash, Prince Hans, could restore her, yet he ends up being both manipulative and deadly. all of the evil asks (but only if you have the time!!) for wing because he's my favorite son
Good news, nonnie! I am recovering from a twenty-one hour journey yesterday, which leaves me too dead to do adulting but just awake enough to dedicate 46 acres of my mind to Wing Fanchu. (And really, which is the more wholesome task, anyway?)
1. What does their bedroom look like?
I’ll do his pre-H.I.V.E. bedroom, since we’re all familiar with the cells. Tan walls, a large window with a dark pull-down shade, and a large, low bed with a white comforter. Some posters of tricky martial arts positions. A neatly-rolled yoga mat in the corner, and space on the floor to use it.
2. Do they have any daily rituals?
Meditation, for 15-30 minutes every morning, assuming Otto has not set a new harebrained scheme in motion.
3. Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?
Wing certainly would, even if he didn’t have to. Martial arts, running, swimming, pull-ups, all those things. Probably every day. Maybe many times a day. Can you get paid to be strong?
4. What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?
Wait patiently, acting as though he wasn’t hungry at all.
5. Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)
Very neat, but some of that comes from being someone who doesn’t take much stock in an excess of personal possessions. That said, Wing is very good about grooming his long hair, and keeping his notebooks in order, and so on. He makes his bed every morning, too, cuz his mama raised him right.
6. Eating habits and sample daily menu
Generally lots of vegetables—he enjoys treats but isn’t swayed by food just because it looks fancy. That said, he isn’t a picky eater, either. Whatever is on the lunch menu, he doesn’t mind.
Breakfast: raisin bran and yogurt, or avocado toast
Mid-morning snack: crushed nuts and dried fruit
Lunch: veggie wrap (i.e. tortilla with hummus, bell peppers, salad, tomatoes, cucumber, and cheese)
Mid-afternoon snack: peanut butter and celery
Dinner: Roasted mushrooms, onions, and broccoli with rice and a tofu burger
7. Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time
Wing isn’t really a time-waster. If he has a few extra moments, he might meditate or sleep. When he can’t focus, he tends to get up and do something else and try again later.
8. Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulging
As a disciplined person, Wing doesn’t give much thought to indulgence, but he is generally good about restarting his routines after breaking them. Biggest example would be taking a day off from his workout routine.
9. Makeup?
“I am pleased you admire my high cheekbones, Shelby, but I see no reason to do something so frivolous as contour them.”
11. Intellectual pursuits?
Wing occasionally might read a book on strategy or martial arts, but he prefers the practical application in the gym.
12. Favorite book genre?
Non-fiction. He has little to no use for fantasies and make-believe.
13. Sexual Orientation? And, regardless of own orientation, thoughts on sexual orientation in general?
Pansexual. Generally accepting of queer identities, but also considers them to be a very private matter and so can feel uncomfortable when people bring it up.
14. Physical abnormalities? (Both visible and not, including injuries/disabilities, long-term illnesses, food-intolerances, etc.)
Allergy to strawberries and a bad knee from an accident that will probably need to be replaced later.
15. Biggest and smallest short term goal?
Biggest: get out of H.I.V.E. alive
Smallest: beat Shelby at literally any competition
16. Biggest and smallest long term goal?
Biggest: keep one (1) otto malpense from getting beaten up, burned, assaulted, kidnapped, brainwashed, bullied, bruised, cut, crushed, killed, maimed, and/or otherwise damaged
Smallest: visit his mom’s grave annually
17. Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress
Simple, non-dramatic garb. I have always imagined that Wing would be his best self in business casual sweaters. He is also very particular about the shoes that he wears, but I don’t know enough about shoes to comment.
18. Favorite beverage?
Water.
19. What do they think about before falling asleep at night?
He doesn’t.
20. Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?
Nothing much worse than the common cold, but he still has fond memories of his mom stopping in to check on him and give him soup, and his dad checking in on him before bed.
21. Turn-ons? Turn-offs?
Turn-ons: Sarcasm, which makes living with Otto and Shelby nigh unbearable.
Turn-offs: people who use the word “like” as a filler too much.
22. Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?
He would set them neatly to the side and then put his head down and take on his chainsaw persona.
23. How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?
Wing is very neat, but not entirely organized. In particular, he isn’t always good at keeping track of assignments for school, so he has gotten marked down a few times for not paying attention to dates and times, much to his disappointment.
24. Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?
Wing has a modest success with almost all of his classes, but he is really good at strategy. If pressed, he could be a one-man armada. (That said, it isn’t like he considers intellectual things like math his beloved.)
25. How do they see themselves 5 years from today?
I don’t think Wing knows, but he would certainly hope to be partnering with one of his friends from school. If not, perhaps finding his place after going through his mother’s belongings.
26. Do they have any plans for the future? Any contingency plans if things don’t work out?
No, in part because H.I.V.E. doesn’t exactly cater to someone with his particular ethical framework. Wing wouldn’t want to exploit people for money, fame, or love, but he would find it just as tasteless to contract with a government to expose these deeds. Wing would feel most satisfied in a career where he has a personal connection—for example, running security in Laura’s tech company, or working as Otto’s personal bodyguard. Until Wing can get some life experience away from the island, he won’t have a clear idea of where he belongs.
27. What is their biggest regret?
Losing Otto to H.O.P.E. and allowing him to be brainwashed and taken advantage of in the worst of ways.
28. Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?
Best friend is Otto, obviously. Though their friendship was kind of manufactured by their close proximity, Wing finds Otto to be inspiring, trustworthy, and relatable.
Wing disdains all people he considers dishonorable, but he particularly loathes people who abuse their authority, like Dekker.
29. Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (e.g. The house is on fire! What do they do?)
Action! If there are people and pets involved, then he saves them! If there is critical information that is needed, he makes that a second priority! He gets people to safety, calls for help, and continues to risk life and limb to make sure the people he cares about are okay.
30. Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)
Well. It can be hard to tell, at first—Wing isn’t an entirely expressive guy. But, unsurprisingly, his pain has to come out in other ways. Lashing out, making rash decisions, losing motivation… all of these things are his way of not-coping with disaster because he struggles to express his emotions in a healthy way. (Many thanks to his dad for making him respond this way.)
31. Most prized possession?
His mom’s yin/yang necklace, although that is a gimme.
32. Thoughts on material possessions in general?
Not particularly concerned. Though Wing is not immune from sentiment, as in the case of his mom’s necklace, Wing’s strongest responses are for people and situations, not lifeless objects. It isn’t true to say that you could just pick Wing up and drop him anywhere, because of the social loss, but you could certainly burn his house down and he would be able to move on.
33. Concept of home and family?
Wing makes very deep bonds with the people who are emotionally open with him and who he spends a lot of time working and playing with. His mother (and father, to some extent) gave him that familial care when he was very young, but after Xiu Mei’s death and Cypher’s withdrawal from his home life, Lao became that staple of home love, a bond made strong by commitment and involvement. The same occurred when Wing came to H.I.V.E., and found a small home group in Otto, Laura, Shelby, Franz, and Nigel, who formed reciprocal relationships and made him feel like he belonged through the time they spent together.
34. Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?)
Super private. He doesn’t mind sharing personal things with his nosy friends, but the rest of the school? If he had his way they wouldn’t know his eye color, much less the status of his feelings or relationships.
35. What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?
Puzzles, parkour, and frisbee.
36. What makes them feel guilty?
The times he has let down his friends, either by wrong action or inaction. Not taking care of himself. Lying by omission about his thoughts and feelings that he is not confident enough to share with people he respects. Leaving behind Lao, who might not know where he is.
37. Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?
Analytical, but with emotional motivations. Wing will bide his time bemoaning the loss of his best pal, very emotional and sad, and then assess the situation and jump into a helicopter when the time is right to save that pasty best friend’s ass.
38. Would they consider themselves a Type A or Type B personality?
Type B, which is not a usual thing for Alphas, let me tell you.
39. What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?
Sleep, meditation, working out, snuggling, listening to his friends have brilliant ideas (but only if he has been drained by hard and/or boring intellectual work), sleep.
40. Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither?
Maybe a slight inferiority complex that doesn’t show. In the wake of Xiu Mei’s death, Cypher made his son feel completely unimportant. Lao did the important work of rebuilding Wing’s self-esteem, but that sense of abandonment and unimportance can return in dark moments.
41. How misanthropic are they?
Not very. True facts, Wing could probably work for Greenpeace or a humanitarian aid society after school and feel very fulfilled defending ordinary people from corrupt militias and other dangerous things.
(Side note, Laura and Nigel would be my other contenders for humanitarian/charitable work, but Laura needs a greater intellectual challenge and Nigel would probably get overwhelmed and get back into evil botany.)
42. Hobbies?
Martial arts, sand art, yoga
43. How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?
Wing received the best education his parents could get him as a young boy, but after his mother’s death he didn’t feel involved or interested, and his only interest became the passion for martial arts that he received from his mentor Lao. He quite admires self-education when it is done well, because it demonstrates high motivation and a deep passion for a subject of study.
44. Religion?
None, but he respects those who have one.
45. Superstitions or views on the occult?
Nothing major, but he does sometimes get the impression that his mother might be looking out for him, or reappearing in his life in small ways. Maybe in the way a flower blooms, maybe in hearing a familiar laugh. Or just good things happening.
46. Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?
Usually deeds, because it is easier for Wing to step up to the plate and help his friends in whatever way they need to be helped without their asking. But nor is Wing embarrassed to admit it when he cares about people, and when he says those things, he means them.
47. If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?
Brilliant smile. Someone he can enjoy a little competition with, but always in a friendly way. Someone who balances his quiet nature and composure with eagerness and ambition. Soft. Enjoys snuggling. Someone he can be honest with, but also someone he doesn’t completely understand. Someone who makes him laugh. Someone who makes an effort to understand him, even when it is hard. Hard worker. Talented. Smart. Someone who doesn’t allow him to take himself seriously. Someone who meshes with his friends, or bare minimum won’t take those friends away from him.
48. How do they express love?
In the dramatic ways, like risking his life. Also in mundane ways, like kissing on top of the head, or running errands on a busy day, or making sure that the beloved who fell asleep doing homework gets all the way into bed with a warm blanket.
49. If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like?
… at this point, I am going to defer to the master and tell you to just re-read the books. Like damn what do you want me to SAY.
50. Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
No, but he would prefer not to. He doesn’t lose sleep over the inevitable, though.

Glen Coco’s Top 10 Mega Man Themes of All Time!
Tumblr media
Can you think of a game that has better music than Mega Man? You can’t because it doesn’t exist. Well, it might, but I’m not really thinking it through. Let’s just say the people who composed the music for Mega Man should all be billionaires and knighted.
Because of my love for Mega Man and the songs that accompany him on his robojourney, I thought it would be swell to list the absolute greatest 10 theme songs from the classic series. It wasn’t easy narrowing the field to just 10 tracks considering this music is better than anything Mozart put out, but I feel like I’ve chosen the best songs and supported my decisions well despite having absolutely no experience in music criticism. You’ll see.
But, that’s neither here nor there. I now present the 10 greatest Mega Man themes of all time. I’ve added links under the entries, so you can drool over the music, as well as three runners up. Omitting these three songs is torturing me, but making tough decisions like this is why I get paid so much for this job hahaha just kidding, no one gets paid to write. Here’s the list:
Runners-Up
Flash Man (Mega Man 2)

Spark Man (Mega Man 3)

Tomahawk Man (Mega Man 6)

Top 10
#10. Cut Man (Mega Man)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAeIMQierX4&t=1s
Cut Man’s theme is a great example of early Nintendo music that was more chipper and grainier in a charming way. This song makes you feel excited to control Mega Man and see where the adventure takes you. It’s uplifting, yes, but with a hint of darkness that says, “You can do it, but be wary.” The opening seconds of this song are really choppy, too, which is appropriate for this choppy kind of villain. In fact, the whole song brings to mind a pair of scissors flying around chaotically, slicing the air as they go. The original Mega Man had some great tracks, but this was the most lively and, indeed, the  best one of them all.
#9. Plant Man (Mega Man 6)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN_7Wy0RT00
This song from Plant Man’s rather unique forest stage is pretty complex. It starts out as a pleasant and optimistic tune as if it’s the soundtrack to an afternoon cruise on your day off. You think this carefree lifestyle can last forever, but then reality sinks in and the song breaks down to a very different tune as if the music is telling you, “Hey, listen, it’s not all fun and games. You have work to do.” And then it starts all over again, but now you feel even more prepared to take on the challenges that await.
#8. Shade Man (Mega Man 7)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxSWjJmz1Dk
Shade Man’s theme is both scary and epic. I mean, when is something ever scary and epic? It’s almost unheard of. The song plays in a graveyard/haunted house themed level and it fits perfectly. It starts out slow and eerie, but as it progresses it becomes more upbeat, providing  you with that extra boost you need to get past the monsters. If this song isn’t called ‘Mega Man Faces His Fears’ then I feel sad for the creators. You just know this is the anthem Mega Man has in his head while exchanging blows with ghouls and goblins. In an installment with mediocre music and no other entries on this list, ‘Mega Man Faces His Fears’ shines through.
#7. Flame Man (Mega Man 6)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKHVUupbqx0
For a Mega Man theme, Flame Man’s has an unusually long build up. Most of these songs sound like they were written by someone on crack; they start fast and insane and stay that way for 20 seconds until they repeat. This one progresses slowly and it doesn’t seem entirely thrilling at first. It gets a little more exciting and you start to think, “Okay, I’m biting” and then all of a sudden this magnificent chorus hits you like a punch in the face providing an immediate blissful high...much like the high the crack head composers felt while writing the music. The song also has a delightful Middle Eastern influence that matches the level and boss designs.
#6. Splash Woman (Mega Man 9)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7qcJwJfyyk
Splash Woman’s music isn’t an instant hit. In fact, its merits were really only recognized by this observer when he was doing his research for this unnecessary article. But this song gets you right in the heart and soul. It’s a rare Mega Man song that is actually gentle and soothing, but also entirely motivating. There’s even an unusual poignancy during the flute section that produces an unreasonably strong emotional response. After the flutes, the song continues in a similar fashion as the opening, but with a little more urgency. This is a perfect song for an underwater level or if you need to feel like you’re being nurtured by a dear friend or loved one.
#5. Galaxy Man (Mega Man 9)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdDbbzuq1vY
This song is crack cocaine. It’s crack cocaine in music form. It may be the most frantic song in Mega Man history. There’s just so much energy in this one short minute of sound and it takes you places you never thought you’d go. As soon as you’re accustomed to a section of the song and feel like it’s reached its prime, it switches on you instantly and becomes even more intense, constantly pumping you up to battle more spaceships in this crazy outer space level. And, obviously, Galaxy Man requires a theme that sounds futuristic, so guess what? That’s what you get, friend. Just try not moving your head to this sound cocaine. If you say you can, we’re not friends because I’m not in the business of associating with liars.
#4. Wood Man (Mega Man 2)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvAAOmoEftg
That drum solo. That drum solo that opens this song is pure bliss. This is the sound of my childhood as well as the childhoods of about 92% of North Americans and 107% of the Japanese population. If you don’t like that drum solo...you’re an asshole. This gets you pumped up to kill robot tigers in the woods before you even have the chance to move Mr. Blue Boy. Following the intro, there’s a sharp, but exquisite breakdown leading into some of the most pleasing, memorable and inspirational music of the series. Near the end of the loop, the same great melody plays but in a higher pitch with an incredibly crisp sound that feels like it’s coming from the heavens. Ya, it’s slightly repetitive, but beauty on repeat is A-Ok in this guy’s books.
  #3. Wily’s Castle: Stage 2 (Mega Man 9)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K9-SwNBMSY
Where did this song come from?!? Is this Mega Man? This is more of a symphony for crying out loud. The theme has such a different feel and is far more complex than any other song in the Mega Man catalogue, but it’s entirely welcome. A song like this could only be found in Wily’s Fortress. It’s so urgent and magical and screams Nintendo. And, whereas most Mega Man themes repeat after 30 seconds or so, this one keeps going for days and changes drastically throughout as if telling an epic story. There are so many moving parts to this anthem it’ll blow your mind. Fans might overlook the song because it’s tucked away in the ninth game in the middle of Wily’s crib, but this is one of the most unique pieces of music from the series. Who wrote this, a wizard?!?
#2. Metal Man (Mega Man 2)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y82DgpgrC0
I’m sure many fans would agree, but I consider the first Mega Man as more of a prelude to the rest of the series. It’s a good game, but highly difficult and unpolished, feeling more like an intriguing prototype. To me, Mega Man 2 is the true start of the series and any fan who knows anything about anything knows that you play Metal Man’s stage first. Ergo, this is the theme that introduces you to the world of Mega Man. When you hear this theme, you know you’re about to go on an epic adventure and it sets the tone perfectly, especially if you’re looking forward to playing all the subsequent games. In many ways, it’s the theme that produces the most excitement. At first, it feels like a fairly straightforward tune, but then you start to notice all these delightful nuances beneath the surface. Like metal (ahem) this song is both smooth and choppy and the shifts between the two qualities work perfectly. Altogether, this is an energetic, inspirational and complex tune that’ll pump you up for what’s to come.
  #1. Wily’s Castle: Stage 1 & 2 (Mega Man 2)
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJRoRt155mA&t=92s
This should be no surprise to fans of the series, not only because it tops so many lists of best Mega Man themes, but because this is quite possibly the greatest song known to mankind. You’ve just defeated all eight robot masters and now it’s time to battle your way through Dr. Wily’s fortress. It’s the beginning of the endgame for the boy robot and this music adds a giant exclamation point. It’s the real deal. The music starts aggressive and maintains that relentless fast pace throughout. There are undertones of doubt in the song that threaten to surface, but the optimism within casts a shadow on any negativity and wins the day. And the frequent shifts in pitch just add to the epic nature of this musical equivalent of intercourse. This truly majestic work of art is inspirational, catchy, complex, and just plain awesome. If this doesn’t pump you up for the rest of the game or series or even life itself, you’re a shell of a human being. I want this theme played at my wedding. Would it be wildly inappropriate? You bet. But this song is so good that I’m willing to ruin my wedding and countless lives just to force it upon the people I love most.

It can be a nightmare after all these years to be too transparent for public record.  I imagine it would be something like a poltergeist; always bumping into things and being misinterpreted or read into.  The age old posit of “Shit Happens” doesn’t leave much room for argument or even proof of life  Nobody ever seems to hear my side of things other than when I write about it here.  Nobody registers the endless frustration because I hide it all so well.  I changed a lot of my routines in the last two weeks specifically.  A year ago I started getting harassed at the gym so I changed my schedule there to an early one.  Eventually I quit the gym altogether.  These days I don’t even own a gym membership.  The Nike Training App core routines and some barbells have delivered far more than the stress I had leaving the house.  I think I’ve learned over time that Yoga and Pilates in the back bedroom teaches you more about form and control.  I use a mirror to monitor my posture.  I don’t feel any prying eyes on me behind closed doors.  For years everybody knows I’ve been my own coach and source of motivation.  The source of inspiration is a given and that’s always been fiercely personal to me.  The fact that it should be so obvious is something I’ve learned to enjoy because it is to me.  But nobody particularly knows or cares what goes on in my personal life other than here where I write.  They forget about the weeks and the work therein.  So I probably resemble a ghost clanking with chains in the hallways.  There’s no causality because nobody pays enough attention to accept I exist.  I’m stuck in a limbo between the known and unknown.  There’s some attention I avoid.  I avoid heavy doses of it every day because I know better.  It’s sticks out like a sore thumb socially and I’ve had to practice a sort of poker face.  People often have a habit of expressing their distaste that I think for myself.  I changed my train route to work.  I still bump into awkward invisible walls.  People trying to hijack my narrative in public.  People afraid of ghosts I guess.  Some cultures leave offerings for the dead.  Others try to exorcise and eradicate them.  Some people throw dust to the wind and some people keep their loved ones in a jar above the fireplace.  I’m still alive clawing at the fabric of society and not so much reality.  Society is fake this we all know.  More obsessed with post truth and fake news than statistical based science.  I used to have more dread towards my situation.  That I would be completely forgotten and misunderstood for the rest of my life.  Obviously people following me around on my commute regardless of my route disproves that fate.  People treat me like Frankenstein sometimes.  Pitchforks, torches and all.  Every other week I’m on trial for a different section of my being.  I’m a patchwork of things I’ve picked up from art school year after year.  And year after year there’s something else that claims it’s cooler, fresher, and more alive.  A good excuse to keep me buried.  To keep the heresy out of plain sight.  And then there’s me banging away at the keyboard early in the morning on the internet like a spirit in the tv static.  People free to read into the message however they please.  Most people just surf right through me.  The noise is still out there every Saturday pulsing like a brain in a petri dish.  The horror.
I read this article about how they were growing brain tissue in a lab.  There was this rhythmic pulse of electricity that they couldn’t explain.  The ethics of testing on conscious living material are dicey at best.  So are half the relational aesthetics driven social experiments done in the name of justice and revolution.  What is right and normal is a lengthy discussion.  But it requires dialog. Sometimes I feel like that brain in a dish trying to give a signal but nobody wants to acknowledge.  No one wants the inconvenience of reading how I really feel.  My routine the last year has been fairly measured and predictable.  Yet people still feel the need to watch and make sure.  It’s been a bit of an insult to come full circle a year later and know full well I told you so.  And some of that sting from my own pride is softened by the fact that I broke free from the petri dish a long time ago.  Patch worked my own identity in the face of valid harsh criticism.  I am who I am and I accept pretty much everyone at face value.  I have saved so much face this year that I’ve become more weary of public and how much it takes to put on the act and show.  For all the revolutionary movements I’ve supported and all the calls to action I’ve heeded nothing much has changed for me.  In America there is this endless cycle of outrage.  Right versus left.  Good versus evil.  Black versus white.  And it spirals into a fractal of endless opinions and vitriol.  Nothing gets defined.  Compromise is completely nonexistent.  Closure is a luxury most cannot afford.  You can’t have closure without getting yourself wrapped up in a bigger drama which limits and belittles the argument in favor of populism or worse.  The tribe of public opinion has spoken.  You have been voted off the Deleuzian Island you were shipwrecked on.  A reality exposition in front of camera phones and a conscripted army of influencers.  America has moved from clique to tribe.  Everything is a little more Mad Max than it used to be.  On the weekends I still stare out my kitchen window early in the morning.  People have so many hidden expectations for me now it exhausts me just thinking about it.  It is pure mental anguish to read into all the projections and there’s no real payoff.  What statement shirt will I see today.  What hidden message or Easter Egg do I have to squint my eyes at to prove I’m fully woke.  It’s what is expected of me to be left alone I guess.  Yes I’m ok.  Yes I have a job.  Yes I keep myself busy.  Yes I keep myself out of trouble.  Yes everything outside of my apartment these days seems to be causing me more trouble than it’s worth.  Yes I’m very sad on the inside.  And yes none of that really matters because when I shut the door and think about the people I care about it’s all worth it.  Because I’m not some experiment in a dish that demands some qualitative proof of my usefulness to science, life and America.  I’m my own science project.  A mixture of phantom, shade and shambling mound.  I figured out a way to hide the scar tissue in broad daylight and let the sun fill the hollows in my face.  I’m the most handsome Frankenstein to walk the Earth.  Maybe more of the Hulk for good measure.  Aren’t they pretty much the same thing anyway?
Universal Studios actually owns the film rights to Frankenstein down to the makeup.  The only Frankenstein movie to ever make it to Japan was because of a guy from Chicago selling the rights to Toho.  He’s also the guy that could have boosted Lenny Bruce’s career.  He instead launched Woody Allen’s rise to stardom.  A parable lies within all of this.  Maybe why we’ll never see a decent standalone Hulk movie inside the MCU.  Maybe I’ll just read the comics instead and let it play out in my own head.  There’s a lot of bullshit that I don’t ever want to be part of.  A lot of soul sucking corporate tactics that don’t honor the actual art form.  And there’s the reality that money, jobs, and careers make the world go round.  I work at a non profit.  I make a non profit salary.  I’ve lived being made to feel like I’m inferior to money.  I’ve learned how to budget myself a return to New York every two months.  Someone at work asked if I had any gigs there.  I said I quit music because it was threatening my safety.  In truth the last year was really about setting up a perimeter in my life.  A place that was safe enough and anonymous to share some intimacy with another person.  Music didn’t serve that for me anymore.  It hindered my goals.  How I’ve gone about building fences around my garden has been akin to that scene in Frankenstein negotiating with the villagers.  Except in a no holds barred me alone against the court of public opinion sort of way.  Modern day Hulk has evolved into a sort of cultured retaliation against the mobs.  He’s still too similar to the mad scientist story to make poetic cinema out of it all.  Me I live this shit every day.  Hulk in Hell.  Abused in some ways and blessed in others.  People don’t like it when I’m angry.  I guess as they say that’s the trick.  I’m angry all the time.  It’s how I act upon it.  How I sacrifice my incomprehensible rage and tortured feelings out of love.  For me I spent the whole last year doing something about it.  Challenging the infrastructure of all this bullshit and leading by example.  Too much force and you break things.  Too little and they walk all over you.  Lenny Bruce had the entire police department after him for saying what he felt.  Woody Allen succeeded in Hollywood.  How you view the hypocrisy of all that is all in what you accept and what you resist.  Resistance isn’t fun.  And it looks different for everyone.  The most political battle to fight is the personal one.  The right to be and the right to think.  What is the real different between Frankenstein and the Human Ken Doll anyway?  Who owns the rights to me being me?  What gives me the right to have an opinion?  Who I can talk to and who I can love?  What I need to become to be treated as an equal in the public eye?  What people have done to stop me from becoming who I really am?  Why do I even care about having a popularly accepted opinion when no one listens?  Who has room for drama in their life when I only make space for all the love I have for you?  Of all the pieces of my life that I stitched together you are the most important one to me.  Because you are the piece that makes me whole just by being you.  It’s not a missing link it’s been an important foundation to my struggle.  If I keep bumping into you in the dark just remember it’s a love tap.  I don’t mind if you tap back.  Only you though.  Fuck all this other shit. <3 Tim

Whether you are reading this happy or sad I want you to know that i love you no matter what . I'll be there in your ups and downs The reason I am writing this today is because I can't stop thinking about you, and I can't stop myself from imagining how happy we will be. Let this letter be a promise to you that I will do my best to be the man I want to be for you. I may not yet know all of the difficulties that come with a lifetime commitment, but I have enough relationship experience to know what I want and how I picture my life with the person I will commit to: you. Those around me are a continuous source of education and inspiration on how I want our relationship to be. So here and today, I vow to try my best to do the following: I promise to do my best to make you beam daily, so count on many surprises. Your smile will be my priority. I get weak knees when anybody smiles, so just imagine the effort I will make to be the source of yours. I promise I will always look at you with the same adoration as I did the moment I realized I loved you. I promise to try to ignite the same sparkle in your eyes I see when you're surprised, inspired, motivated or when you are about to lean in to kiss me. I promise to hold your hand when we're 80 years old with the same liveliness that I did when I crossed that line to hold yours for the first time. I vow never to let the excitement of dating me die down; I will surprise you with the location, the reason or the activity itself. I promise to keep you guessing where we're going next. I promise to do my best always to interest you. I will keep reinventing myself, gaining new hobbies, new knowledge and new interests to keep you and myself entertained. I promise to have new stories to share with you, and maybe I'll retell the best ones again if you insist. Our friendship will continue to grow over the years. I vow to challenge you to challenge yourself for the better; to make you think differently. I promise to try to feed off of your illuminating energy that will inspire me to do the same with myself. I will do my best to ensure that being bored never crosses your mind. Even in grief and darkness, I promise to show you the different shades of the dark, and to help you find the tiny rays of light that are always there if you seek them. After all, there's always worse than worst and better than best; everything is relative. I promise to kiss you throughout our life together, with the same passion I had the first time I felt my lips on yours. When we kiss, I want it to slow down time just you and me engulfed in our feelings. I promise to play the games you like to play. I promise to do my best to remain physically attractive for you, and I will do my best to be healthy in order to keep up with our children and grandchildren; someone has got to teach them kickboxing , or martial arts . I'll train you, too; I want you to know how to fight and defend yourself, just don't use it against me. I promise to help you to be healthy, both physically and mentally. I will cook and clean for us. Expect the best breakfast: the traditional Peruvian Lomo Saltado followed by fruit salad with… well, I can't give all the secrets out. I promise to strive to be a role model for our children. I want both you and them to see me as a source of motivation. I want to inspire them in the same way that my mother inspired me. I promise to do my best to love your family as you love them and to be by their side as much as I am by yours. I promise to always listen to you when you simply just want to be heard; when you want someone to vent to about something or when you want advice. I will listen to you especially when you don't feel comfortable sharing your thoughts with anybody else, and to the things you try to tell me when you're not even speaking. I promise to always listen. During our life together, I promise to make sure that you feel as though you are the center of the household — I know you will be — and I will always try to show my appreciation for you because of that. Being the man of the house is nothing without a woman. I promise never to let my guard down in taking care of us. I know you won't be one to be satisfied with the bare minimum. I promise to do everything that I can for you without taking away from your independence physically, intellectually or emotionally. I promise to create family traditions and to make sure that your legacy lives forever through our children. I promise to encapsulate the moment when I realize that I am in the most magnetic, amorous and erotic love with you, not to let that feeling dissipate to the best of my ability and to relive it with you constantly, always. Love Ozzy ❤️ Your future husband i hope

John Thomas Grant artist analysis 1
What is the name of the photographer? (date and country of birth if you can find it) is this photographer a professional photographer? if so what companies has he or she worked for , what famous magazines have their photographs featured in or what galleries has he or she exhibited their work in?
John Thomas Grant is a photographer , and an author. “Final thoughts: eternal Beauty in stone” was a personal journey that he went through. He was in the music business for 30 years before retiring in the mid 90s. John currently has two solo exhibitions of his photography in progression. one through October 28th at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit, Massachusetts, and another at the Vanover Fine Arts Gallery in Springville, New York, through November 3rd.
What is the photographers motivation for being a photographer? What is the photographers motivation for taking/ creating these types of images?
“My feeling for cemeteries comes strictly from an artistic, and life, point of view”.
John feel like when he is in cemeteries his artistic side of him comes out and he sees life and scenery in an artistic point of view that speaks in the quality of his photographs.
Genealogy bought him to the cemetery and that sparked his interest in graveyards.
“It all became crystal clear to me. I truly realised that one day I will experience death”.
Cemeteries made him realise that death is inevitable and it will all come to us one day , it is a cycle that only repeats itself once.
What is the location in the photograph:urban (town or city) , Rural (village or countryside) or Coastal ( by the sea )?
The location in this photograph is in a town called Beverly , Massachusetts , it is an ancient burial ground with a few graveyards but it also has a playground in the background  making the image a contradiction as playgrounds are happy and fun but then grave stones are there bringing sorrow in the atmosphere.
Discuss whether this photograph has been taken for a commercial purpose or for an editorial purpose or a fine art purpose.
I feel like this photograph was taken for an editorial purpose but not for the purpose of marketing or selling the image , maybe just to show the scenery of the photograph and display its meaning to other photographers or viewers looking at the photograph.
Discuss the content of this photograph?
What is the photographer / artist trying to communicate to the viewer about this particular landscape?
Peace and tranquility
Beauty
Emptiness
Perfection
Dessolation or neglect
Ugliness
Everyday life
John is trying to envision peace and tranquillity after death through this image.
As it is set in a playground the photograph shows everyday life through the swing set in the background. But what catches your eyes when you first look at this picture are the headstones causing it to give off a vibe of emptiness and departure.
Discuss the main technical or formal elements in this photograph?
Unusual composition
Strong angles
shallow or deep depth of field
Blurry movement
Negative space
Nd filters
strong colours or monochrome tones and shades.
The image clearly presents monochrome tones some dark and light in the background as well as in the foreground. The strong angles of the headstones creates shadows on the back of them concluding that the image has a deep depth of field.
Read the quotes by different famous photographers.
Research the photographer to see whether she or he is a contemporary or historic photographer
Explain what has been said in the quote in your own words
Respond to the quote
See if you can relate to the quote
Quote 3 “ Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer- and often supreme disappointment” - Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was a photographer and environmentalist.
Landscape photography is testing your abilities to capture the scenery in front of you at the write time, angle and composition and often when some photographer do it they tend to fail and their picture will turn out to be a disappointment. I agree with what the quote says because some fields of photography are harder than others and you might not get it on the first you but if you try you will overcome that disappointment, i can relate to this quote as i have felt like that sometimes when taking my own set of photographs, i will have to test my ability to the fullest and will not be disappointed.
Do you think the photographer has manipulated this photograph using digital editing such as Photoshop? If you think then what impact do you think that this could have had on the way that viewers react and respond to the photograph?
I don't think that John Thomas grant could have digitally edited his photographs to the point where the viewers would respond negatively to it. His photographs have the sentimental yet sad feeling to it and i don't think those feeling could start a controversy between the viewers.
what is your personal response to this photograph and how does this photograph inspire or relate to your own work?
My personal response to not only this photograph but many of John Thomas Grant’s images relate to me as they all have a meaning and a story to be told behind it in this case death is everywhere and it will follow you around , it's a life cycle we have to endure and of course it's inevitable. The photographs also inspire me to do more with my own photographs to bring more detail within my images to make it stand out with the rest. Overall they have related to my work in the sense of we all have to experience death.
