No main blog post today, instead have a look into the other FIVE clans, Egretclan, Elderclan, Buzzardclan, Meadowclan, and Fickleclan.

Pinky purple tabby is Mantisstar of Buzzardclan. A tough leader hated by most. He has a sharp tongue and leads his clan with cruelty implementing unfair rules to outsiders who wish to join and graduating apprentices.

Red spotted tabby is Copperstar of Elderclan. Insecure and a bit cruel Copperstar is seen fighting with others a lot. Despite this hes very open to outsiders and is very caring to younger cats, acting as a parental figure to a certain young cat Cinnamonpaw especially, who most cats in the clan suspect to be his son.

Scarred brown color point is Ganderstar of Fickleclan. Best described as stern and cold, hes a man of few words. Hes proper and likes perfection, though most cats dont know that due to his limited speaking. He has a certain, connection with the dark forest, however whenever it’s brought up he seems… scared and hesitant.

Brown and ginger tortie is Russetstar of Egretclan. Russetstar is an extremely strange cat, shes offstandish to others and is extremely awkward even with cats shes ‘close’ with. Shes actually the only leader with a mate currently (which I dont approve of, more on that in future posts.) and also the only other female leader other than Rainstar.

Brown marbled tabby is Skystar of Meadowclan. A kindhearted cat, Skystar is close with most of the cats in his clan treating most to all like his own children. He has a way with his words and isnt a pushover whatsoever, hes persuasive and confident making him one of the best leaders in the clans.

Bio: She became leader randomly, she wasn't deputy before she became leader, and she was still pretty young. The previous leader had been suffering extreme wounds from a battle, and the deputy had already passed, so the dying leader made Russettail leader before passing. Russetstar has no known, alive biological family, but she has plenty of friends and is probably the most energetic cat in Mohaveaclan. She and Winterstar bond over being made leaders young.

Story:

He knew he wasn’t important since he was a kit, when his brother was ill. His parents spent every moment with Rockkit, ignoring their other, healthier son.

So, he spent more time with the elders. There, they told him the most amazing stories! Stories of wonderous leaders, defeated evil, prophecies! In the centre of them all was a medicine cat with a vision that detailed the events in the stories that would later unfold. 

That cat was the most important of them all.

But he couldn’t become a medicine cat. An apprentice was already being trained.

He was disappointed, but held onto the hope that he might become a part of a prophecy one day.

It was when his brother--who had recovered just before he reached six moons-- had kits that Olivestep realized he was running out of time. Heroic cats were normally young, weren’t they?

He tried to push it, trying to get the medicine cat or leader have him train as a healer, but they said that three was enough, and that because Windclan was pushing their luck at the border, they needed more warriors to fight.

So he waited longer. 

And longer.

And longer.

He had an apprentice.

Then another one.

One day, he lost prey in a hunt because he had cracked his back. Oakfrisk had made a joke about Olivestep getting old. 

Soon it would be too late.

Starclan wouldn’t let him be a hero, but he could still go down in history as one! The Clan could still believe he was a hero!

He told a story, one of a shocking dream where he was walking on a ground made of blackened bark, only for it to change into icy water, drowning him. He stated how real it felt, but cats were still skeptical. 

That was okay. They would see.

He took his brother’s son’s litter out of the camp and to the lake. Fellow warrior Deerbark--who was on guard that night--followed, reached him at the pebbly shore, and demanded to know what he was doing.

Olivestep killed him swiftly with a bite to the neck. Then he took the kits, dunking them in the lake. He left them in for a few heartbeats before jumping in after. Thank Starclan they were all okay--considering.

He told them to tell everyone that Deerbark had placed them into the icy lake, and that he had saved them. Taking them back to camp, that is what he told everyone.

He was celebrated as a hero, being commended for his rescue and his earlier ‘vision’.

But it was hardly a moon later when a kit had told the truth to their parent, who took it to the leader.

Russetstar visited the kits and, after some prompting, they told him the truth. 

Even as he was confronted by the Clan, Olivestep held onto the his tale, hissing that he is innocent, whether or not they send him into exile. 

Russetstar simply responded that they’re not sending him into exile, before biting out his throat.

ive got to get into rv darktail and violetshine some more…. im thinking that rather than being removed from shadowclan by needlepaw while joining the kin, darktail strolls into camp and declares that he wants to take his daughter home. (this is where violetkit learns hes her dad, though other shadowclan cats like needle figure it out first- tbh im considering needlepaw specifically tips him off so shes still got some responsibility here but in a “shes clearly being groomed” way)

theres some conflict because the cats want to keep violetkit as a pawn in the prophecy, or use her ghost powers which have begun to bud. but the leader (who is either russetstar or tawnystar, not rowanclaw. theres gonna be a shift there but i havent decided which one), exhausted of the rogues, just lets darktail take her, saying she should be with her family, away from the clans. thunderclan strictly refuses to give up twigkit. this fucks violetkit up even more, because suddenly, NOW keeping her from her family is bad? when this family is not the familiar warmth of her sister, but a manipulative tom with a history of violence, who’s been villainized constantly by her clan? NOW theyre okay with letting her go?

darktail uses this to manipulate her, tell her that the clans discarded him just like they discarded her, how they ruined their family and how they only have each other- he saved her in time, but they cant save twigkit because she’s been corrupted by now.

Another addition to my warriors AU! I’ve posted some family trees from the other clans so I thought ShadowClan deserved some attention.

My notes are below the cut. Enjoy c:

Redthistle, the healer before Sagewhisker, has Littlebird with another ShadowClan cat, unnamed here. I like to image that her secret was brought to light at some point and resulted in her being ostracized within the clan, which is why Sage was so against Yellowfang having her kits.

Littlebird has Crowtail and Hollyflower with a WindClan cat, Whiteberry.

Newtspeck, Ashheart, and Frogtail are the kits of Crowtail and Archeye (yes, he is a chimaera)

Ashheart does not have any kits.

Instead of Darktail being the son of Onestar and Smoke, he is the son of Sol and Blackstar. Blackstar dies pretty soon after Sol is exiled, leaving Russetstar as leader. She is leader when the Kin take over ShadowClan.

Fernshade and Wolfstep have three kits together, Nightwing, Whitethroat, and Badgerfang.

I’ve renamed Wetfoot to Rainfoot

Nightwing dies in the mountains instead of Smokepaw, who lives to become Smokefoot.

Applefur and Smokefoot are the parents of Shrewfoot and Olivenose. And Shrewfoot is the mother of Stonewing and Wasptail.

Instead of Reedclaw having kits with her cousin, she’ll have them with Snaketooth! The two meet and get along well while ShadowClan and SkyClan are living together after the Kin. They continue to meet after the two clans split again and have Kitescratch and Turtlecrawl.

Hypokit request for Fireheart x Silverstream, or Blackstar x Russetfur

Let’s go I gotta Hydrate but first I gotta AU!!

In the first AU, Rusty loves the water, and heads to Riverclan land. Stonefur mentors him, and he and Silverstream fall in love over flowers, tasty fish, and secretly saving Redtail after Tigerclaw tries to drown him.

In the second AU, when Tigerstar goes to kill Gorsepaw, Russetfur sees her brother Brokenstar over the kits - sees an injustice she cannot allow. And she leaps upon Tigerstar’s back, biting at his neck. Blackfoot, who has loved Russetfur for a season, who suddenly has to choose, yowls for Shadowclan to let Windclan go, and charges in after Russetfur. The pair save Gorsepaw, and kill the corrupt leader, but at the cost of Russetfur being shredded. Tallstar offers medical aid, and Blackfoot denies his deputyship - he supported a monster, and instead says that Russetfur should lead. She is hauled to the Moonstone, and Russetstar is carried back to Shadowclan. The timing is different, so Brindleface lives, Swiftpaw and Brightpaw become warriors, and Bloodclan takes much longer to find The Clans…

In the last AU, Ravenpaw (who has vitiligo) meets Rusty at the Hot Topic and they fall in love solving a murder mystery and listening to grunge and rock music.

What are your plans for Russetfur?

Russetfur

Due to design changes, Russetfur now has heavy scaring on her chest, around the side of her neck, a shredded right ear, and a scarred muzzle.

Russetfur now has a much more interesting start! Her mom is named Nicki! Kittypet who left home to live with the Blood Seekers with her single kitten, but when they split up, Nicki stayed with her friends, forming the group that Jay leads. However, when Nicki began to feel her age, and Red became Russetpaw, she returned to her old home, much to her owner's shock.

Russetpaw, now NOT Hal's daughter, is the adoptive daughter of Featherstorm, who will mother any creature she sees, especially with her sons having a massive fallout, their relation no longer existing (as relation is more social rather than blood, they are still seen as her sons, but not as brothers) and knowing that Russetpaw still needed someone to listen to her and care about her. She couldn't replace Nicki, but she could still be there.

The whole scene with Berrykit no longer happens, by the way, the callous attitude comes from Milktail, intentionally stirring up shit and displaying her xenophobia.

She is not Blackstar's first deputy, his first choice is Boulder, as Cedarheart's apprenticeship lasts longer due to an infection making things last longer for poor Cedarpaw; but Russetfur is is favorite. She is chosen after the disaster that was Milktail's deputyship, and the event that causes Blackstar to lose faith in Starclan is not just Sol having a +10 in charisma.

Sol brings Russetfur out of a coma*. Her injuries acquired during Eclipse are brutal, leaving her comatose, brought on by Windclan warriors, Antpelt and Loudbird. Sol is able to "magically" wake her up... He put ground up peppermint on his paw that he brought back from a Twoleg garden and stashed in one of Shadowclan's hidey holes. Well, it worked.

*coma does not mean an actual Coma in Warriors, it's just the best word they have for a cat in such bad condition that they are unconscious and unresponsive 99% of the time.

Know what kinda doesn't work though? The fake-turn-real sign from The Three. It nearly doesn't work until Russetfur stomps out of the Deputy den, and rubs Blackstar's nose in it. Sol didn't do anything special, she didn't feel any better when he had her huff peppermint dust, she still needed Blossomclaw and Littlecloud's help.

She is strong through the beginning of OOTS, hyped up by Shadowclan to be the next leader, with Blackstar getting on in years. Everyone was expecting Russetstar, even though she herself was getting on in age too... They were sick of Thunderclan's deputy telling them what to do. Who cares if Firestar says he doesn't want to battle? Shadowclan is taking that bit of land and the valuable berries within it! Russetfur, soon to be Russetstar will lead this holy charge with her Challenger's Rights, and take what Shadowclan deserve-

When Russetfur's anger towards Firestar's unwillingness to fight results in her launching herself at him, Lionblaze grabs her by her throat, yanking her off from where she had been brutally attacking Firestar.

In the struggle, Lionblaze hadn't kept his strength in check, only thinking about saving his grandpa. It was an accident.

She is brought to Starclan by Featherstorm, and will probably be one of the angelic spirits that participates in the Great Battle, since unleashing THE WHOLE OF STARCLAN was a bit... Meh.

I can't say for certain how her leadership would have gone, but she left some BIG boots of Deputyship for Rowanclaw to fill in. She got Shadowclan through tough times. Fire and sickness and anything else the world threw their way.

Is Blackfoot still alive when Skyclan rejoins the other clans? Also...how do the other clans take Skyclan now, without Firestar knowing about them, the other clans don't either. Also...it'd be hilarious if Russetstar was still alive when Skyclan rejoins with Blackfoot/star(?)

Sorry this response has taken to so long! As you can see I definitely took the prompt and ran with it haha. Full disclosure I haven't actually read the series Skyclan returns to the lake (AVoS?) so timeline wise I have no idea if Blackfoot would still be alive canonically but for the sake of a fun AU yes he 100% is.

This is where Skyclan Blackstar shines over having Leafstar lead. Even if Blackfoot founded modern Skyclan, the clan is as much shaped by the other members and he lacks power. Despite the outrage his initial appearance would spark among the other clans I doubt it would be worth it for the other clans to exile him again. He is a beloved elder in Skyclan and ultimately is their problem, other clans have sheltered worse (Bluestar willingly sheltered Brokenstar for a period of time). He will never be able to attend a gathering and avoids straying too close to the borders but is content in Skyclan. For the other clans the entirety of Skyclan is around to keep him in line.

So for the rest of this I'll be talking about the Blackstar & Leafdapple route of the AU. Continued underneath because this post got long.

The clans reacting to Skyclan's arrival at the lake

It shakes the lake clans to the core since it challenges a lot of what they thought of their culture. During OOTS there was a larger focus on the clans coming together when necessary that continued on. Even with the Great Journey after the old territory was destroyed the clans refused to leave until Riverclan joined them. So to hear that Skyclan had been put into a similar position and their ancestors just let them die out - there's definitely a knee jerk reaction to it all. They don't want to believe it.

Blackstar loses a lot of the credibility of the message and a significant portion of cats straight up accuse him of lying. Oh a whole clan just happened to be exiled? Really? What a coincidence "guy who was obsessed with power and famously exiled". It's convenient that this version of events leaves the lake clans as villains and Blackstar as a righteous leader.

With some time to prove himself and how the rest of Skyclan trusts him fully the other clans come around to it in the end. Even if they personally do not like Blackstar he would be nearing the end of his leadership and they can't turn away a whole clan on the faults of a single member. I imagine the gathering they all show up the medicine cats across all the clans just make a beeline for the moonpool to check the legitimacy of Blackstar's account the second they are dismissed.

Bramblestar and Onestar aren't thrilled to have him back among their ranks but they still begrudgingly defend the rights of Skyclan to rejoin them by the lake. Neither were as intimately acquainted to his war crimes as the other leaders and denying a clan sent by Starclan is just not worth it. Bramblestar, having been compared to Tigerstar his whole life, would probably also be more likely to give him a chance as he looks like he has genuinely changed. But of course what would Riverclan and Shadowclan's leadership think?

Russetstar is leader of Shadowclan

She is pissed that he has shown up with an entire clan in tow and is incredibly untrustworthy of him. She remembers what he was like as a deputy in the forest and the atrocities that they witnessed and just can't believe he is a leader now. If he is a leader with morals, where were these morals when Brokenstar and Tigerstar were around? When their clan needed protection? Instead she ended up breaking the cycle and building up her clan from the wreckage left after TPB. She is incredibly concerned with the welfare of Skyclan remembering what the clan before her was like and urges for Blackstar to be sent back into exile and for Skyclan to appoint a new leader. She is solely focused on Blackstar and being an ex-loner herself has no issue with the rest of Skyclan.

Russetstar and Blackstar would be an interesting mirror for each other. Blackfoot blaming Russetfur for everything when he loses it all but gains peace with himself by finding a life in Skyclan knowing that his problem was never with her. Russetstar seeing him return would immediately be ready to fight him again over his position of leader, how he isn't to be trusted and push for him to be exiled. Russetstar finds peace with the fact Skyclan are safe with him and despite all the reasons under the sun she rightfully despises him he never did turn out to be another Tigerstar or Brokenstar like she feared.

Tigerstar ii is leader of Shadowclan

Okay this bullet is not very serious but while you think Russetstar still kicking would be funny I raise to you: Tigerstar ii. Blackstar hears Tigerstar is the great and noble leader of Shadowclan and has a heart attack. Did he rise from the grave? Why is everyone so calm? How are they angry at him when Tigerstar is around? Then he sees him and he looks the spitting image of Tigerstar but the tom in front of him is far, far too young to be the actual cat of nightmares. Tawnypelt is like "That's my boy Tigerstar! Proud of you!" and Blackstar has to take a minute to hound Tawnypelt like "Tawnypaw why in Starclan's name is THAT the prefix you decided on?"

Meanwhile Tigerstar ii is the only leader to have never met Blackstar in his life, and is confused out of his mind. He has no clue what to think, everyone seems angry and scared of this cat claiming him to be Blackfoot from the forest but that can't be right. Blackfoot is an evil cat with glowing red eyes who tried to steal away the great Russetstar's leadership and eats kits or some nonsense. He's known as an executioner but he brought together a whole clan and hardly comes across as more bloodthirsty than Onestar. He seems unnecessarily angry when he tells him he has Tigerstar's support though...

Mistystar the leader of Riverclan

And finally the big one. She would absolutely give Skyclan the ultimatum of exiling their leader or she declares war on them. Honestly who could even blame her? She got a front row seat to Tigerclan in which he was among the highest ranking members, imprisoned with her apprentice and he killed her own brother in front of her. Even after all these seasons he's still alive, having gotten the power he wanted while Stonefur is dead and Stormfur left the clans. She would be livid he is back and would remind the clans why he was exiled and how if it weren't for the truce of the full moon she would be chasing him down already. And when Skyclan respond like "We know what he did but he has changed. We wouldn't have our clan without him." She snaps a bit, all of them are complicit and isn't even going to give them the chance of building a second Tigerclan.

Her deputy Reedwhisker would've seen the horrors of Tigerclan and what happened to her during that time. He wouldn't be leaping at their defence. Mothwing never experienced it first hand but grew up in the aftermath and remembers what Hawkfrost was like (his throwaway line about Tigerstar never being such an enemy to Riverclan was such wasted opportunity). Plus Mothwing is unable to go to the moonpool and verify for herself so even though she goes she just has to trust in what the other medicine cats say. Riverclan has no real reason to trust the story given by Blackstar.

Once she has time alone with her clan and space away from Skyclan they are able to decompress. A lot of the cats who don't remember the forest are furious and don't want to be part of a war with an innocent clan sent by Starclan who have already lost a home. The Kin are their enemy. Mistystar never follows through on the threat of an all out war between the two clans, the danger of The Kin is too pressing, but she ensures Skyclan stays far away from her borders. Any kind of alliance between Riverclan and Skyclan is unsalvageable until Blackstar dies and leadership moves on.

Meanwhile from Blackstar's side he feels awful and has no idea how to face Mistystar. She is the embodiment to all of his past mistakes, how he supported and participated in so much bloodshed. How does he still have the support and trust of Skyclan after coming quite literally face to face with everything he has done. The guilt is palpable. On top of ruining everything in the forest and being exiled he has brought his new clan, weakened by constant travel, into a possible war? How many more are going to be injured on his behalf. I could see him just giving up and saying he'll leave on the promise that his clan stays reunited with the others. Skyclan stand in support of Blackstar though, "We followed you here and if you go we will follow, we've managed without the clans before but we aren't going without our leader."

This whole AU for me is all about how Blackstar doesn't really ever achieve forgiveness in a neat bow in the eyes of the other clans but gets a different support network. Everyone should have a shot at redemption but it doesn't mean you should get forgiveness from the people you hurt. Or grovel for it, instead just moving on and being better.
