*The Long Quiet* Fuji GW690iii + Rollei RPX25 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shooting 25 ISO film in the streets (or in this case in a cemetery) without a tripod is a bit mad, but I've done worse (did anyone say Fantome 8 ?) When the sun is this bright, it works provided you pick your subjects with care. The Sakarissa, an ocean going tug, served in the Pacific during World War Two. Anchored and abandoned in the Columbia River below the bridge that connects Oregon to Washington, it sank in March. The Coast Guard estimates it would cost $2 million to remove, there are no funds available, and no timeline. I rarely get the chance for a “do over” when meeting people and making their portraits, but as @vickiknits and I drove away from Netarts towards Tillamook after a day of wandering, I couldn’t stop thinking I could have done better. I am lucky that Vicki plans for my distractions as if she can read my thoughts (she can) and wasn’t surprised when I said I had to go back, as I turned the car around. I’m grateful John Henry had the patience to sit for me again, as the close portrait was what I should have done all along. I don’t think I can blame Randy for my initial distraction; he didn’t move or say a word the whole time. John has worked for the last three years to create a business at the side of Highway 131 in Netarts, and a safe space for Veterans to rest.
