HAPPY FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO LIGHTS ON PARK AVE! 🎂🎉 In celebration of LoPA’s birthday (August 22, to be exact), all of the prompts from the previous year are up for grabs.

Round 48 will end on August 31, 11:59 PM ET (what time is that for me?).

As always, you’re free to jump in whenever you’d like during the round, a wide variety of work types is accepted, and there are no minimum work requirements. Unfinished works and works for other fandom events are allowed. You can find more information about Lights on Park Ave and the participation guidelines here.

ROUND 37: RETURN September heralds a turning of the page, the maturation from adolescence to adulthood. A return to our real life, our former one before we were whisked away and changed by summer.

ROUND 38: FEAR When the hours grow shorter and darker and the chill begins to seep into our homes and our bones, our fears revisit us.

ROUND 39: SEPARATION As winter approaches, we part ways, cutting ties with the past. Some separations are needed, some come unwanted. All leave us changed.

ROUND 40: PROTECTION One of the best gifts you can give someone is ensuring their safety. To love someone is to keep them from harm and make sure that you can protect their freedom to live in happiness and peace and be who they are without fear.

ROUND 41: TURNING POINT It’s a new year, and the arm of the clock at twelve demarcates the countries of the past and future. 

ROUND 42: OBSERVATION When you care about someone, you want to study them and the way they view the world. You hope to be witnessed in return so that you’re understood. Through their attention, your existence is affirmed. You are here. You are alive. You are a part of this world. Someone saw you, knew you, and committed you to memory.

ROUND 43: SACRIFICE Sacrifice demands that you surrender something of equal or greater value. A balanced exchange, supposedly, though it may not seem or even be just. What then do you so desperately desire that you’re willing to pay any price? Who or what are you willing to give up?

ROUND 44: POETRY The fourth poetry round in celebration of National Poetry Month

ROUND 45: SECOND CHANCE What would you do if you had another opportunity to set things right? It’s 2023 and it’s the year Endgame took place so to celebrate that, the theme for Lights on Park Ave Round 45 is second chance.

ROUND 46: LIVING IN THE MOMENT When you’re living in the present, there’s no past, no future. Nothing exists outside of the moment, and set in its amber, you’re eternal. You’ve never been so alive, you’ll never be this alive again, you’re forever alive; that you is gone and unretrievable and immortal all at once.

ROUND 47: CHILL At the height of summer, all you want is to slow down and cool down, to take a break and escape the heat.

They're a little bit a space god? she was technically created to be a way to watch everything by some super powerful beings, more a tool than a person, and essentially can see everything everywhere all the time. then he met erebus (my friend's oc) and went actually fuck this, im gonna have a personality and be hopelessly devoted (platonic) to this little guy here. so their character is basically idc about anything at all except my little guy and her friends and i will destroy anything that threatens them♡ idk i think theyre neat♡

Tau

he/him

Tau is from the game Sky: Children of the Light! He grew up basically alone, only being temporarily helped by spirits he passed by (he didn't want to be a burden on them so he left quickly). He made it through the most dangerous areas alone, and because of that he's convinced he's super skilled. But in reality, it was a whole lotta dumb luck. In reality he's kind of below average in terms of getting through dangerous places. He finds people who are new to the area, to try and be a sort of guide to them, but they frequently end up getting hurt and Tau feels horrible about this (and confused, because at least at first he thought he was some sort of prodigy). He does keep finding new people to lead, because he feels like he owes it to the people that he couldn't save and more than anything he wants to help people. Only a few made it through with him completely unharmed, but almost none of them kept following him after because it was pretty obvious he didn't actually know what he was doing. He kept one friend for a while after that, Ember, because of a combination of more luck and Ember being surprisingly skilled for a newbie.

if you like the number 2, this is your post! it's the second round's second match, and we've even got two contestants coming in!

here on the left is contestant 16! in the first round, they were able to get away with 62.8% of the popular vote, leaving contestant 49 in the dust! they started out as silly and doomed by the narrative, and then you jokesters decided that they created the narrative but lost control!

and to my right, we have contestant 48, who was able to help me out of a tight spot in their round 1 match against contestant 17 with 58.9% of your votes! they were an edgy ratperson rogue with adhd to begin with, gaining the trait allergic to cheese in the selection round!
