Introducing Lita May!

I’d originally introduced Lita to my patreons, but Ive now changed a lot of her backstory (and design), because I was struck by inspiration at like three in the morning, (and was getting fomo from all the other absolutely adorable turtle babies I’ve been seeing)

So we all know Donnie created a mech body for Raph thanks to concept art, but in this AU, I feel like Donnie would be juuuuust morally questionable enough to think creating backup clones first would be a good idea. He wasn’t expecting the small bits of Krang tech he had to incorporate to have such a huge impact, tbh he wasn’t even really expecting anything at all—which is also why he used his own DNA for the trial run, and…since Donnie wasn’t expecting a success, he was pretty shocked at the final result.

Donnie was also only able to observe the first month and a half of “incubation” (tube not egg), but was, unfortunately stuck at another resistance base for so long, when he returned, Lita May had grown a substantial amount and was ready to be removed from her tube (he was back for like two days before she started opening her eyes and reacting to stimulus). She took three months total to grow.

Raph and Leo kinda don’t really know how to react to her. Leo immediately clocks the Krang characteristics and is pretty furious. Raph is just confused, but when Donnie fills them in on the origin of Lita’s birth, Raph’s not too happy either. Neither one takes it out on Lita. Donnie does get a pretty severe talking to. Mikey, Timothy and Cass are so excited, and April is beyond shocked to be named the godmother. The family keeps Lita a secret, but it’s evident that she’s got some Krang in her, and they all know that the other members of the resistance might try to hurt her, and ask Renet to take her. Casey loses his playmate, but he does get to see her every few months.

She’s kept in the dark about her family’s future, and is pretty mad at Renet for not warning her of her anything, and she eventually gets sick of the secrets.

Listen Casey Jr can’t exist in the past without Timestress intervention! Basically, Renet and Future!Mikey were friends she told him time travel was a thing but totally against the rules. With heavy heart future!Mikey betrays her trust and turns back time anyway. Now portals are opening everywhere and it’s a mess Renet needs to fix ASAP. Renet is a teen apprentice so her priorities are very personal.

So the sad truth of the matter is…

2018Donnie actually does discover a way to create a machine to safely time travel.

In fact, he’s explored time several times during the two seasons, but he never remembers. As of now, even after his recent venture through time, he still doesn’t.

You see, no matter what he does, he always ends up accidentally destroying the world/universe/quantum realms/timestream/dimensional stability- etc, etc, etc… And 2018Rennet has had to stop him each and every time. She’s forced to wipe his memory, because even after watching the world fall apart, he simply tries a different way to time travel, because surely it’s not entirely his doing and, anyway, second time’s the charm!

Besides. He owes past Donatello the winning lottery numbers.

Rennet simply can’t stop scientific progress!

Except she does. Over and over and over and over.

Not that he knows that, as he tinkers away at his latest time machine in his lab, right under his brothers’ noses.

Of course, she took an oath. A Timestress is not allowed to interfere with time. She couldn’t stop the Kraang invasion. It was meant to be. Her job is simply to manage the branches of time. And if, say, time surprises all by granting one turtle the ninpo gift to send a certain Casey Jones to the past… Who was she to stop it?

There is an exception to every rule.

…It’s just not Donatello.

Rise Leo explaining Renet to the Alt versions.

“She’s like a second Mikey- which is pretty cool! Except when she bite.”

“She bites?”

“Yeah when she and Mikey met for the first time they went into a territorial dispute and ended up tying. For some one with human teeth, she can bite pretty hard. Not enough to rip a chunk off obviously but it does hurt a little.”

The sound of a scuffle could be heard in the background.

“Awe they’re fighting again, how cute!”

“For the last time Leo, we are not rivals! We are best friends!”

“Sure little bro, remember when you fought Cassandra on your own for the first time? You were a spitball of first solo mission fire. Very warm fire might I add”

Mikey and Renet then bit him and he screamed.

“Ugh How come I can’t make any lasting dents on anyone of you!?”, screamed a frustrated Rise Renet.

“We’ve been over this Rennie, we were build for battle. Takes a lot to put a dent in us.”

Renet stops biting when she zeroed in on another Mikey. She came at him on all fours and began to bite him. The Mikey screamed and ran.

“Ahhhh get her off me! I’m not edible!!!”

“Not without a little seasoning and a slow roast over a fire you’re not.”, said Rise Mikey.

Rise Leo was left to die on the ground dramatically.

“Hey! I’d taste better than him!!!”

“Nah your fakeness is too sweet- get some therapy and then we’ll talk!”, said Renet as she sat on the other Mikey’s shoulders and bit his head.

Rise Leo grumbled, “I don’t need therapy! I’m completely fine!!!”

“Then how come you try to unalive yourself at some point in time?”

“Hey! I thought we agreed to never bring that up!”

“I never said when it happened or happens. For all they know it already happened or it’s about to happen and I never said it only happens once.”

“….You aren’t even suppose to be in the time archives or whatever. Why are you exposing me?”

“Because I’m tried of everyone else’s shxt. If they want to be blind then fine, but Im not going to let my bestie suffer a loss that can be prevented.”

Rise Leo runs off as rise Mikey stopped his fun to stare.

“Renet?”

“I’m sorry, but I couldn’t stay quiet, not when I had the chance to say something. I know I should have talk to him first but…. It happens in a timeline, what if it’s this timeline?”

Remember Renet?

Well i do! Here’s a rise version of her!!!

I hc that she’s still a time master, but that she works for an organization; like that makes sure that dimensions don’t mix and the timeline stays on track.

She was actually born in the 50s America, rlly smart, and everyone’s dream girl at the time. She was going to be a revolutionary, and speed up the whole feminism movement and invent some sick ass shit but the A.I.S couldn’t have that so they ‘recruited’ her( basically kidnapped her) to work for them instead.

I didnt dog the whole helmet look so I made them side buns, and she’s covered from head to toe in pockets full of futuristic weapons and portals.

The A.I.S’s headquarters was founded after mystic powers were already being incorporated into technology, so for Renet the two are intertwined, and one can’t rlly be used without the other. Mystic energy is less of a magic thing and more of an enhancement to what’s already there.

She doesn’t use magic like the witches or anything, instead she fights traditionally, and is pretty damn good at it. The reason she fights physically when she’s in a different time is bc she doesn’t know if the mystic knowledge of the time period she’s in is up to par with hers.

Alm rambles about ROTTMNT stuff

So, uh, I don't want this one to end up in my bulk folder, lost forever... and it's ROTTMNT related so maybe someone here might like reading this unedited prattling about some ideas regarding the lost sisters mentioned for Rise. Below the cut is a mess of brainstorming that has zero editing or beta reading or any of that stuff, just take it.

This idea?? nonsensical musing??? also adds Renet and Beebop to the Rise Universe.

Venus and Jennika are both hatchlings at the time of their mutation, the same age as Michelangelo. The two missing sisters were mutated at the same time as their brothers but were unseen by Lou. They were presumed dead by Draxum and his staff after a search of the wreckage turned up nothing. Both were technically saved by Renet in the moment, but when they were left with a yokai foster family, Jennika snuck along with Renet and ended up along for adventures for a while. As a result, she's actually years younger than her siblings, just 15 vs Venus and Mikey's 18 when they reunite.

Map Turtle, Venus; This would be Big Mama's Henchman. Rescued as per the productive teams' reveals. Dark Green. Bog Turtle, Jennika; Rescued by Renet and raised as a time apprentice. Chooses to give it up when she finds the others. Yellow.

The boys find Venus first, as per their previous run ins with Big Mama and her staff. Venus honestly hates the implication that she has anything to do with them until on the fateful 'episode', she makes one mistake too many with Mama and gets the boot- which, with Mama of course means, sent into the Nexus as fodder or entertainment. Her mess up was probably due to the guys, and given that they're aware of there being some connection- perhaps not, it's still uncertain at this point- the guys originally return to try and make amends and help her get back on Mama's good side. They find her in the Nexus instead and cue dramatic rescue and mass destruction of Mama's property.

Venus initially resents everyone, especially Raph and Mikey who insist on trying to form a familial bond with her the moment Drax confirms she's one of the missing two- oh yeah and there were two others, not just the one, by the way, thanks for mentioning that off-hand like that, Drax. Leo and Venus get along like oil and water and loath each other's personalities for being so incredibly similar but opposite. Donnie, however, immediately becomes Vee's favorite, simply because of his emotional detachment and disinterest in such affairs. Donnie ends up being her first friend in the family and the two bond over overly complicated anime they have in common, cementing the friendship. Slowly, via this route, Venus opens up and earns her place in the family some time later by finally ending up on one of their 'missions'.

Venus is stoic and serious to a fault, but geeks out hard about anime and techno dj BeeBop (there he is!).

Jennika's bizarre. She's weird and wild and sort of just inserts herself when she finally appears with Renet. The whole point of Renet bringing Jenni there is to try and find Venus, who wants absolutely nothing to do with anything time-travel related because fuck that chaotic nonsense. This triggers a series of catastrophic events that the family and Renet work together to undo, fixing the timeline through the power of family and friendship!!!! and mystic powers and ninpo and also a time dilation sequencer that Donnie and Renet build together to actually fix everything when the rest of the family's shenanigans fail to do so in epic but predictable fashion.

In the end, Jennika chooses to stay behind, giving up her time lord shenanigans in favor of having her family back. She does so in classic Jenni fashion- by deciding without discussing it with anyone and happily inserting herself as if she never left, much to literally everybody's discomfort but Mikey who absolutely adores his baby sister and her big time chaotic energy. Leo also quickly takes a liking to Jenni and Raph has trouble not viewing and treating her like a baby for how young she is, both visibly and compared to her siblings.

Jennika ends up being a cartoon lover, referencing disney and pixar style media a lot and enjoying fantasy elements in particular- mostly because they remind her of her life as a time and dimension traveller. Jenni's knowledge and whimsy make her a sort of ex-machina for the family, though her rashness and gullibility often counter this usefulness.

Jenni uses a tanto (knife) and fukiya (blow darts) combo and tends to avoid direct combat. Her ninpo/mystic ability is speed / time manipulation, able to speed herself up relative to the world around her, making her knife work extra effective once fully trained.

Venus uses a set of Kama (sickles) with a bow as backup. Her ninpo duplicates her arrows and adds effects to them- such as explosive or ignition tips. Her preference is to not use her ninpo at all, as she struggles with it, having grown into a direct combat role all her life and while she's unmatched as an archer, she resents that this is her true specialty and rejects it for a long time- similarly to Donnie's rejection of Mystic powers in favor of tech, she rejects ranged combat in favor of direct melee.

Ok- So no doubt that Leo lectures for 3.5 business days about Donnie and his irresponsibleness in messing with Krang DNA, but I feel like the minute he thinks no one is watching his soft side is coming out for that baby.

Oh he’s definitely an over protective uncle. Probably even more-so with Lita, than he is with Casey, because at least he has a hand in making sure Casey has the knowledge he needs to survive. With Mayday, he’s kinda forced to give up the reigns in her training. But he loves her, even if he seems a little stiff and distant. Though, later down the line….Lita is a little resentful towards Leo and Mikey that they let things get so out of hand—even if logically she knows they couldn’t have foreseen things ending the way they did.
