Musica digitale e dove trovarla!

Alla fine del secondo millennio, con l'avvento di programmi di peer-to-peer (in particolare Napster), l'industria musicale ha fronteggiato una crisi che dura fino ai giorni nostri.

Era dovuta al drammatico calo di vendite di CD e singoli causato dal successo di questi tipi di programmi, che incoraggiavano la pirateria informatica e lo scambio illegale di brani musicali attraverso la rete internet.

Successivamente le grandi distribuzioni musicali si sono accorte che la musica diffusa su larga scala mondiale attraverso l’utilizzo di tali programmi poteva avere dei benefici a livello economico dato che soddisfaceva uno dei principali pensieri giovanili dell’epoca: “AVERE TUTTO E SUBITO”.

Apple decise così, nel 2003, di creare da APPLE ITUNES uno store dedicato alla vendita dei brani, che già nel primo anno di attività, superò i 25.000 singoli venduti e, solo un anno dopo, raggiunse la cifra di oltre un miliardo di canzoni in catalogo.

L'iTunes Store è stato il primo negozio di musica online a riscuotere successo, il che ha prodotto una notevole attenzione da parte dei media e dei discografici. Essendo un negozio online, è in grado di fornire servizi che i tradizionali negozi di musica non sono in grado di fornire.

Precedenti negozi online non avevano riscontrato un tale successo, il che è stato imputato alla ridotta libreria musicale disponibile, mentre lo store di Apple ha potuto contare fin dall'inizio su una libreria di 200.000 canzoni.

Uno dei fattori di traino è stata sicuramente la nascita dell'iPod: il lettore è perfettamente integrato con iTunes, quindi, scaricare la musica per poi spostarla sul lettore, è un'operazione semplice e veloce.

Ciò ha subito attirato molti utenti che, pur di avere un servizio di una certa qualità, erano disposti a pagarlo: piuttosto di cercare le canzoni utilizzando i programmi di file sharing, col rischio di aver problemi legali e/o di dedicare molto tempo alla ricerca di una canzone decente sulla qualità audio, molti utenti hanno deciso di avvalersi di iTunes Store.

Successivamente nacque una nuova piattaforma, famosissima ed utilizzata in ogni Paese del mondo: YouTube. Fondato nel lontano 2005, è da subito diventato uno dei principali siti web dove chiunque poteva caricare un video di qualunque genere. Da subito molti artisti lo utilizzarono come canale di condivisione e per farsi conoscere nel mondo.

Alcune case discografiche, come ad esempio Warner Music Group ed EMI, hanno siglato un patto secondo il quale YouTube sarebbe stata abilitata a ospitare ogni video musicale prodotto da queste compagnie, mentre avrebbe condiviso una parte dei ricavi pubblicitari.

L'incremento di popolarità che YouTube ha avuto dalla sua fondazione gli ha permesso di diventare il secondo sito web più visitato al mondo, alle spalle di Google.

Subito dopo YouTube si fece strada tra i giovani un’applicazione che, soprattutto negli ultimi anni ha riscosso molto successo. Stiamo parlando di Spotify. Una piattaforma web e mobile che ti dà la possibilità di ascoltare la musica in streaming.
